• Dis Guy Trublinsky

Man would a convincing win feel really good today.

    • Viva Dave Toub

I’m actually excited to watch today: refs, league rules, and FireFox be damned.

  • CanadaBear

For some reason I think the Beloved are going to win today. I almost never feel like this. Went and saw a great 3-piece last night playing Gypsy Jazz and Blues. Maybe I’m still in an altered state! Hope the Beloved pants the Loins and pummel Stafford!

    • Viva Dave Toub

The Loins are beatable, but then again, John Fox.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

That’s just it. He’s gotta not be John Fox today. Play to win. Not play to not fuck up.

    • BearDown100393

      I expect a Bears win.

  • CanadaBear
  • Excited for Bear Down today! Unfortunately I have Star Wars tickets booked that will force me to leave at halftime, so no post-game article from me today.

    • CanadaBear

Enjoy the show. Glad I get to see the game today and don’t have to rely on your post game article.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I’ve seen it 2x already. I liked it, not sure I would miss a game to watch it.

  • SC Dave

    Good tweet re: Howard, Jeff.

Though it looks like The Freak catches the ball just fine.

  • CanadaBear

Jeff’s response about Howard’s lack of skill in the passing game is silly. Howard is no Adrian Peterson and AP was never as valuable as he could have been because of his lack of skill in the passing game. He was still great but the O is tipping their hand a bit when a RB is not much of a threat in the passing game.

    • Big Mike

Howard has to learn how to catch

    • BerwynBomber

But I would assume Jeff’s point is — yes, JH is limited by his weakness but he has one helluva strength. I’d take 22 such problems at all positions.

JH, I’m sure, is continually working on his game but route-running and pass catching require some innate skill that you either have or don’t. Doesn’t mean JH can’t improve but he also might never be Matt Forte. It is just not natural to him.

Btw, something we rarely discuss here is that Cohen can’t block. So to a degree, both our top backs are 3rd down liabilities in that sense, although obviously JH can pass block and Cohen is a helluva receiving matchup in space.

      • SC Dave

Route running on swing passes and check downs is pretty simple. QB and runner need familiarity.

I expect this aspect to be much better next season.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I’m kind of in Jeff’s corner here. Would it be nice if he was a more efficient pass catcher? Sure. But I guess I’m old school in that I’d rather have Howard getting those tough yards and blocking. Find some receivers that can catch those short passes. And I expect the Bears will improve in that department this offseason.

I also don’t like the awkward hits they expose him to on those routes. Receivers have spent their playing careers learning/knowing how to protect themselves to an extent. Backs are used to taking a handoff and delivering the blow.

I’ll take a pure, patient, forward leaning back any day to a hybrid. That’s just me though. I understand the arguments for the hybrid types. I just don’t think they’re “better”.

        • SC Dave

Definitely agree. I am very glad that Jordan Howard is a Chicago Bear.

        • CanadaBear

I think the world of Howard but he would be much more of a weapon if he was a true 3-down back. If he never develops into that, OK but you always hope for the best. When you say “hybrid types” I’m guessing you are talking about Forte. Just to be clear, Walter and Gale were 3-down backs along with Matt.

  • BearDown100393

“……and people will still be whining about his pass catching.”

Howard is playing with a shoulder injury.

  • Big Mike

Haven’t been this eager for a Bears game since Packers week.

    • BerwynBomber

      Uh oh …

      • Big Mike

Exactly. That’s what this team does to us.

        • BerwynBomber

Well, if it happens, at least it will be Matt Stafford rather than Brett Hundley. And at DET rather than Soldier.

          • Big Mike

But the opportunity to take a step up, is right here. It’s really the last one of the season. Browns – meh, Vikings might be coasting. A statement game. Losing’s not the end of hope, if they play well and the rookies contribute but come up short to a Detroit team trying to stay in the playoff race. But beating the Lions under those circumstances says, don’t fuck with us, we’re coming back.

          • BerwynBomber

            Valid point …

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Not today. Not today. Today is the day.

          • Big Mike

Preach. Winning today would be a statement game. Bears are on the way back. Believe it.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I am conflicted. I want Stafford DEAD, unfortunately I need Stafford to have a good day to stay in the playoffs for FF. Bears win 42-35

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

And that, is the root of the problem. I don’t play fantasy football for a few reasons, but that’s up there. I’ve never seen my son more conflicted than while watching a Bears game with FF players on the opposing sideline.

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I am conflicted but I don’t view it as a problem, I will always side with the Bears. Once the game starts I will be rooting for INTs and Sacks and bad passes. However I am smart enough to know that the Bears D is injured and can be exploited, so there is a good chance that Stafford has a pretty good day against us.

  • CanadaBear

    Bears inactives.

Chicago Bears inactives vs. Detroit: QB Mark Sanchez, DB Deiondre Hall,
RB Taquan Mizzell, S Adrian Amos, OL Cameron Lee, DL Rashaad Coward and
    TE Adam Shaheen,

  • CanadaBear

Really a pisser about Shaheen after he took a step last week. Hall is a healthy scratch.

    • SC Dave

      Yeah… bummer.

  • CanadaBear

Hey Jeff, if you’re that hungover go to Gus’s Fried Chicken and get fried okra along with everything else. Your world will be much better in a hurry.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

I’m at 30 days without beer.

The last hangover my stomach could only handle water because I didn’t eat before drinking.

When was that? Oh yeah….31 days ago.

    • CanadaBear

Are you quitting altogether or just taking a break?

      • KentuckyBearsFan

A break. Focusing on work stuff now. But the last year I’ve been getting worse hangovers on way less alcohol than just a few years ago. So it’s just not as fun.

I kind of like a mild hangover the next day when it gives a feeling of calm. But this year it’s been more stomach issues – on just beer sans liquor – and headaches that last two or three days.

I think….I’m just getting old. Closer to 40 than 30. I think of the George Carlin advice when the pain exceeds the pleasure and you have to say to yourself …”Oh, this doesn’t work anymore.”

Beer is great. I probably should drink more Hefeweizens and fewer heavy I.P.A.s.

What’s great about drinking after a two or more week pause is that it only takes about two or three beers to get a great buzz. It’s (almost) worth the break itself.

  • CanadaBear

Loins inactives; Cleary, Marquez, Coe, Swanson, Wagner, Zenner, Washington,

  • CanadaBear

Ziggy and Lang will play today.

  • CanadaBear

Glad to see Eddie playing today. Hope he’s a factor!

  • AlbertInTucson

“For the sports world, this is Carson signing off”.

    LOL.

Even in the sports world, Francesca never had anything approaching Carson’s reach.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Crap.

  • AlbertInTucson

Well, the Bears get a look at Deon Bush, whether they want to or not.

  • AlbertInTucson

    In your face, Stafford.

  • SC Dave

    So much for the shutout…

    • AlbertInTucson

      Stupid, ticky tack, personal foul.

      • SC Dave

        Missed it… caught in traffic.

        • AlbertInTucson

          First play of the game.

Goldman took a light swipe at a lineman and brushed his facemask.

  • AlbertInTucson

    48 yards.

    Chip shot.

    For opponents’ kickers

  • Irish Sweetness

Four thirty in the morning. This had better be good ….

  • AlbertInTucson

    Cohen.

    Bad decision, again.

Thought he had figured that out already.

  • FresnoBear88

So this game isn’t televised on fox wtf!

  • AlbertInTucson

Detroit o-line showing its true colors…?

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

That or Houston is an All Pro suddenly.

      • AlbertInTucson

They couldnt run the ball when they had their STARTING linemen.

Hopefully, their pass protection follows suit.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Grrr.

  • SC Dave

Defense doing well considering that the Lions evidently get to hold a lor.

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

Apparently hugging a dude around the neck as he goes past isn’t holding. I’ll remember that when they call it on us

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

It’s Christmas time, he was just spreading the love.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

What a shit call against fuller

  • SC Dave

We better get some damn 1st downs next drive.

    D looking gassed.

  • leftcoastdave

    Anybody post a link?

    Fox is showing infomercials here.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I have friends that have drifted away from the NFL over the last few years because of the rules and penalties.

I’m beginning to feel that myself. That illegal hands to the face on Fuller changes the game. It’s such bullshit. He ever so slightly brushes a face mask and it’s a first down instead of a fourth. That’s bullshit.

    • AlbertInTucson

The league needs to shitcan some zebras to send the message:

“Nobody came here to see you throw flags.”

    • SC Dave

The officials are influencing the game too much.

But I blame Seattle… they forced the league’s hand.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I don’t mind a little player safety sprinkled in. But these guys are changing outcomes over nothing.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Great throw, Kurt.

But it was a loss of 1.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Look Mitch figured out the Hard Count!!!

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Also snaps from under center

  • Scharfinator

Looks like Fox told Loggains last week was too adventurous.

  • TomC

    Fucking fox…

    • AlbertInTucson

Don’t even want to see if the kid can get the Loins to jump again, Coach?

      SMH.

  • SC Dave

Damn… Mitch has totally lost the deer in the headlights thing.

He looks as serious as a heat attack now.

  • SC Dave

    Nice tackle by POD

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Love how we are doing absolutely nothing from last week.

    • Scharfinator

Shame I didn’t watch last week – for some reason I thought we were going to do it again.

  • FresnoBear88

Does anyone else like Benny Cunningham as a our 2rb?

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I don’t think I’d go away from Cohen. But I really like Cunningham. That dude sticks. The Bears don’t even need to think about RB this off season. They’re all set there.

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Irish would disagree. we need to draft one in the 1st round

    • Irish Sweetness

Nothing against him no, but I hope Barkley gets his roster spot TBH.

  • TomC

Down early, on the road, great running game, and you punt on 4th and less than a yard at midfield. Fml

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Put Cohen out in space? Nah. Run pass option? Nope. Read option? Never. Killing them with Wright over the middle? Nope. Rollouts? Nope

Lets line up and run up the middle. That worked for so many weeks.

    • Irish Sweetness

It’s weird. And is Inman alive? What’s up there?

      • Pretty Boy Assassin

I can tolerate a quiet week from Inman..as he plays slay. But use the goddamn matchups to our advantage and be unpredictable.

        • AlbertInTucson

          Did Slay return?

  • AlbertInTucson

    What? No flag?

  • AlbertInTucson

    Oh, THERE it is.

  • AlbertInTucson

    BS.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

      yep

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

How bout an OPI to offset.

  • FresnoBear88

I don’t Fox and Fangio returning but we need an innovative OC ASAP!

  • AlbertInTucson

    Fuck that.

  • Cubsnlinux

Alright..the Bears that we know are back. How in the hell do you let that complete?

  • AlbertInTucson

    Bad Eddie.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

did not help that the DB fell down.

    • Scharfinator

He waited for it instead of going for it. Rook

    • Cubsnlinux

      that was quite horrible

  • SC Dave

Wow… ticky tack hold on Prince, and very next play he gets shoved off his coverage and nothing…

    • TomC

      Jeff Triplette’s crew.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Among the worst.

Triplette has trouble getting the coin toss right.

  • AlbertInTucson

He did the same damn thing last year in Detroit.

  • SC Dave

Rookie mistake by Jackson… tomahawk that damn thing oob rather than playing for the stat book.

  • Cubsnlinux

Our run defense is shot..no chance this game.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

It can’t be understated how much TOP the loins have gotten from ticky tack penalties. And the way these refs call PI/d holding, we need WR running in space and a deep shot or two on an early down.

  • WP4Life

    Hold on hicks?

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

No. They only call that on us.

  • TomC

I hate that pick play. I blame new England.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

    of course a flag

  • Cubsnlinux

Of course there is a flag. I hate this game some times..hate the god damn flags

  • AlbertInTucson

    All for naught.

  • Cubsnlinux

when you see blatant penalties ..there are no flags.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Fuck you, zebras.

    All of you.

  • Viva Dave Toub

    FUCK

  • AlbertInTucson

    Bullshit, Kurt.

  • TomC

Jesus you really took away that beautiful run for that?

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

maybe we should give everyone on the punt return team boxing gloves so they can’t hold

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Looks like Foxy’s call to the league officiating office worked.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

These guys can’t even play football anymore.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Every year this shit in Detroit

  • Irish Sweetness

And they took Cohen down by the helmet …

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

Not a penalty as it would help the bears.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

one less ref, less penalties maybe….

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

      More missed holds

  • Derek Price

Never having played and living in Sydney, the refs in this game are seeming to throw flags for absolutely ticky tacky reasons. The one on Cohen’s run was to get the zebra head on tv

In all sports the refs are becoming more important than the players, surely needs to be addressed in such a multi million $ game. Very poor today

  • WP4Life

    Pa?

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

That ticky tack bullshit call cost 80 yards of field position. That is fucked.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

has Mitch perfected the hard count???

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

    Go Mitchell.

  • AlbertInTucson

No chance that guy would do THAT in that 4th and 1?

    • Viva Dave Toub

      I thought the same thing!!

  • Viva Dave Toub

Mitch’s hard count is good, which makes me want to kick Fox in the nuts for not going for it on 4th and 1 at midfield

    • AlbertInTucson

Right up their with his mismanagement at the end of the SF game.

  • AlbertInTucson

No. Gale Sayers never handed the ball off in ‘65, you Bozos!

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Mitch’s accuracy from within the pocket on set feet is remarkably improved from a month ago.

  • TomC

    Another awful penalty call.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

guy fell down so must be a flag.

      • TomC

And it killed the drive. I hate this crew so much.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

    Yeah, that’s holding

  • Cubsnlinux

This offense is crap..so much for the kool-aid all week

  • AlbertInTucson

    Dear Santa:
COAL for all guys in striped shirts.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I may be seeing things, but I swear the Lions LT seems to always be a step ahead of the snap.

  • Viva Dave Toub

    Dear Santa,

    How about a pick six?

    Viva

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

    OPI!!!

  • AlbertInTucson

3rd starter goes out of their O-Line.

  • AlbertInTucson

    THAT is OUT!

  • Viva Dave Toub

    Bears Ball

  • Scharfinator

Eddie is going to be a beast. Still a rookie

    • AlbertInTucson

      HE OWED one today.

      • Scharfinator

        Ehh, mostly agree.

  • AlbertInTucson

Close enough for a Nugent miss?

  • Viva Dave Toub

    WTF

  • Viva Dave Toub

    We have 2 timeouts

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

      Foxball

  • Viva Dave Toub

    FireFox

  • Scharfinator

Trub being scared to heave it.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

we don’t really have a go up and get it type WR. and DET is not going to let wr get behind them.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Agree.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Yes. And this better get resolved this spring.

      • Scharfinator

I’d rather try for 7 than settle for 3. This team is so boring.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I agree, but to say he was scared is a little much. we had 7 sec on clock and a time out we could have taken another shot.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Huzzah!

    DILLY, DILLY!

  • Derek Price

Major points from this first half, only one side is prepared to take shots downfield. Predictable is the one word to describe the Bears game plan, even a nuffy like me can read the plays

Chicago fans need to have a coach that leads the team with hope and passion, Fox and Loggains have put their used by date. Very ordinary preparation.

    • TomC

Given how creative Loggains can be (even way back in the Cutler days–remember that Minnesota night game), I have to think the ultraconservative playcalling is a direct order from Fox.

  • Viva Dave Toub

    I guess we’re rope-a-doping them

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I’d like to take a rope and string up our dope of a HC.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Got’em right where we want’em.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I’m not sure what I’m seeing, but I think the running game is badly missing the Shaheen we saw last week.

    • Viva Dave Toub

      Roger that

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

HOLY SHIT!!! I agree with Michael Irvin.

    • Viva Dave Toub

Broken clock is right 2 times a day!!

      • KentuckyBearsFan

        …not if it’s digital.

Unless it really is the End Times.

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I once had a clock where the hands broke off. It was never right.

        • Irish Sweetness

Time being subjective and only existing in our heads …. it was spot on 24 hours a day!

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Beat me to it. I was laughing out loud. Even a crack head knows Fox is blowing it.

  • SC Dave

Hope our oline is ready ti block someone

  • KentuckyBearsFan

what the hell was that throw?….And our receivers almost never look back for the ball.

    • SC Dave

      I would call it ‘garbage’

  • SC Dave

Although if Trubisky is going to imitate Cutler…

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

well, I guess Fox is going to run from now on.

  • TomC

That’s on trubisky, but why did Wright not even try to catch it?

    • Viva Dave Toub

      He alligator armed it

  • Irish Sweetness

That’s a cue to go back to bed if ever there was one.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

    this game sucks.

  • AlbertInTucson

    As usual.

    1 step forward.

    2 steps back.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

      “The Hokey Pokey Bears”

      Take one step forward
      Take one step back
You take out your crack pipe
Because no one knows how to catch
      It’s the Bears Hokey Pokey
And it’s time to fire ‘nother coach
      That’s what it’s all about

  • TomC

Kwiatkowski has been awful today. Just standing around.

    • SC Dave

That doesn’t matter. What mayyers is that the two goid Trubisky ays today have been drops, and he only has two

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Every play a DL gets hugged. Lot of love going around.

  • That Guy

Did any of us expect anything different today? This is textbook Fox, being flat as day-old coke the week after they look like a competent team.

  • SC Dave

    The officiating has been brutal

  • AlbertInTucson

    Nice takedown by Bellamy.

  • TomC

    The O line puzzles me.

  • BearDown100393

This should eliminate any discussion over keeping the coaching staff.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Thank God.

      • TomC

Yeah, if winning out meant keeping Fox, I’ll take a loss or two.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

    Atta way, hicks

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Cant get a break. Terrible punt and we get a holding call.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

These flags are really taking the air out of the NFL.

    • AlbertInTucson

The hallmark of a bad football team.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Along with John Fox, Jeff Tripplet should not be back next year.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Right over our new guy.

    • BearDown100393

Who just quit on his QB.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Markus Wheaton????

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

      earning a paycheck.

      • Pretty Boy Assassin

        500k a yard

    • KentuckyBearsFan

Lions on 3rd and 18 did not expect a downfield pass from Fox.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Shitty route by Howard.

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

Punch the DB in the face and get a few, please

      • AlbertInTucson

But he was standing virtually on the sideline.

        • Pretty Boy Assassin

And he just stepped out. He’s got 20+ lbs on that dude. Hit him.

        • SC Dave

So predictable for you to blame it on Howard. Enable the rookie, and blame the receiver, who, of course, it in his first year with MT.

  • AlbertInTucson

    What running game, Kurt?

  • TomC

Nice concept there. Bring everybody tight inside then pitch it out wide.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Mitchell throwing frozen ropes on this drive. Where the hell has this been all game?

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

Frozen ropes to what routes that we’ve ran?

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Exactly my point. Not an indictment of Trubisky so much as the receivers or perhaps the OC. Kids obviously got the arm.

  • WP4Life

    Where is new te?

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

      On thw sidelines hurt.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

      street clothes. inactive chest injury

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Peete wanting his team to play with juice. Makes sense.

  • TomC

    Awful decision

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

    Sigh

  • AlbertInTucson

Inman was open exactly never on that play.

  • Derek Price

The one time they should run, they call a pass play into coverage. Unbelievable dross

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Tipped ball. WR lost his battle. Bad decision by the rook. Bears football.

  • FresnoBear88

    Lmao

  • shawn

    shaheeeeeeeennnnn?????????????????

  • TomC

    Holy God this crew.

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

      And they won’t show it

  • shonbear

Shaheen is hur right that’s why he hasnt been playing at all today?

  • shonbear

    hurt

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Yes

  • SC Dave

Well, we knew it would be up and down with the rook. Trubisky KILLED us today.

Glennon would have been no worse

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

    Great play, Fuller

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

    Goldman held. No biggie.

    • TomC

And he still made the play. Eff you all day, Triplette.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

at least the Lions are out of field goal range after two sacks

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

    Easy Houston.

    • TomC

He started to dance then felt his knee wobble and thought better of it.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

He sure did reel it in mid way through his bullshit didn’t he?

  • Derek Price

Not sure Trubisky killed us, can’t beat dumb game plan and terrible officiating , especially a team that has no margin for error

    • SC Dave

You’re right! Putting those INTs in the gameplan was a terrible idea by Loggains.

  • Viva Dave Toub

This is a great opportunity for Mitch!!

    • SC Dave

      And he failed miserably

      • Viva Dave Toub

Yeah that TD Drive was brutal.

  • BerwynBomber

Our pass pressure has been the one bright spot all game.

  • Viva Dave Toub

    FUCK

  • BearDown100393

    Jordan complete one.
    Flag.
    Sitton on the ground.
    Great.

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

There is no excuse for this crew.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Jordan is 4 for 4 today.

  • TomC

Since they won’t show the replay I will assume that was another bullshit call.

  • BearDown100393

A football would taste better than Papa John’s pizza.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

We should start delivering boiled footballs. That Papa John dude makes bank.

  • shonbear

oh he is inactive oops, somebody could have said something

  • BearDown100393

The Lions better re-sign Triplett stat.

  • BuddhaJoe

So at least this should dispel any illusions about Loggains.

    • BearDown100393

Let the bird out of the cage.

      Fly. Fly Away Starling.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

    Wheaton balling out. Hahaha.

  • BearDown100393

    Marcus Wheaton did something.

  • TomC

    Yikes that throw.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

What? No holding? You guys sure?

  • KentuckyBearsFan

    holding?…nope hands to the face.

these refs seems like a small town southern police force with too much power.

  • TomC

    Hey they got one right!

  • BearDown100393

Caldwell hands the game ball to Jeff Triplett.

    “Thanks for saving my job”

  • shonbear

even the ref is smile/laughing about the fact his crew keeps dropping ridiculous flags

  • BearDown100393

    Flags.

    Flags everywhere.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

2018: David Bowman: “My God, it’s full of flags!”

      • BearDown100393

Goodell fines Bowman for unauthorized expression of a theological entity.

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

Love hearing Tripplet’s voice. Why I watch this game.

    • BearDown100393

The Dean Martin of NFL officials.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I’d love to know how many yards the referees get per year compared to the collective NFL offense.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

The way things are going, the refs could have their own fantasy team. And win.

    • SC Dave

      Wow…no shit

  • SC Dave

Goddamn… how bad will this get?

Y’all bitching anout Howard’s catch ratio, and every catch made wiped out by penalty

  • BearDown100393

    Pacebot has a death glare.

    About time.

  • shonbear

Howard is a pass catching machine today

  • BearDown100393

    “Bears on Bears”

That explains everything about teaching winning.

    Thanks.

  • shonbear

    there you are bellamy

  • TomC

They are not trying to win this game. They’re taking the play clock down to zero every play.

    • BearDown100393

Hobo protecting the playbook to lay down the thunder & lightning against Cleveland.

  • BearDown100393

When the camera swings from Hobo to Pacebot, the decision has to be made.

  • TomC

    Mitch missed that throw.

  • Derek Price

Animated coaches don’t win games, but they sure as hell provide some motivation. Fox and Loggains act like funeral directors, guess what , so do the players

    • BearDown100393

      Dave Wannstedt

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

You don’t see Bears players trying hard? I do.

Fox is just past his viability as a coach. This team has not stopped trying.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

assholes didn’t give Tru the spot.

    • BearDown100393

      1st daaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

      • KentuckyBearsFan

yeah. I should put the volume back on. it looked like a bad spot at first.

        Whatever. Touchdown. Finally.

  • TomC

What the heck was the penalty at the end of the Trubisky run? This crew…

  • Bender McLugh

    reps reps reps

  • BuddhaJoe

Well at least this makes sure that Fox is done.

    • BearDown100393

      Hopefully

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Fox just slinging timeouts. Managing the clock like a mini Belichick.

  • BearDown100393

Another collar bone ready to snap in the NFCN.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Hicks Tea Bags Stafford. So that was fun.

    • Bender McLugh

That should get him into the pro bowl

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

        I agree. Let’s email Goodell

  • TomC

    Cohen!! Wtf?

  • AlbertInTucson

“…why it took 25 seconds…” because Triplette is a complete incompetent!

  • BearDown100393

Data preparing the numbers and crunching for….. The Last Jedi.

  • Bender McLugh

I’m convinced Wheaton is not 100 percent. What is he recovering from again?

    • BearDown100393

      Overpaid-itis.

    • Viva Dave Toub

      Sandinclitoritis

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

    • KentuckyBearsFan

      Gingivitis.

  • BearDown100393

Why are we not going deep for a TD and try for an onside kick?

  • shonbear

3-4 times failure on the wide open wr on the left sideline tonight

  • BearDown100393

    Mitch Cutler

    That’s game.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Trubisky.

    Slayed.

  • TomC

Damn, I was really rooting for that back door cover.

  • AlbertInTucson

Double digit losses for the 3rd straight year.

    Lovely.

    Decorating the tree tonight.

I have a good mind to leave the Bear ornaments OFF.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Yeah. Nobody needs to mix that kind of negativity with their Baby Jesus.

    • SC Dave

Okay, si you post that and give me shit?

      • AlbertInTucson

        Sure.

The fact. That. This team can show up 2 weeks in a row is on Fox and friends.

        • SC Dave

It’s on all of them Al. Owners, coaches, players.

  • Viva Dave Toub

I am now rooting for a Chief loss. Prefer they don’t make playoffs so DT can interview right away

    • BerwynBomber

I also think the Chargers are potentially bigger threat to the NE right now.

  • BuddhaJoe

Kind glad we weren’t paying much attention to that. My wife didn’t even care enough to give me shit.

  • ButtonShoes

Anyone still want to make a case for Dowell Loggains staying? Eh, Jeff?

    Seriously, though: fire everyone.

  • BerwynBomber

Pass rush was good today. Four sacks and what seemed a handful of other pressures on Pie Face.

Also thought the receivers did okay. They’re still marginal guys but mostly caught what was thrown at them. Even provide a little separation at times.

    That was about it.

That end zone INT was horrible. Tight window and double coverage.

But for the “let him throw, let him throw, let him throw” crowd, you got your wish today. Forty-six tosses.

    • SC Dave

Exactly. And we lost on brutal shit.

      The positive?

Trubisky threw zero shitty balls to Howard. And he caught every one

      • BerwynBomber

Hah! I noticed that. Arguably JH’s best game ever as a receiver.

        • SC Dave

Because FINALLY the QB did not throw garbage a mediocre rrceiver is expected to catch.

Rodhers would cream his pants to lay the ball right in Howard’s hands to fucking KILL the enemy

  • SC Dave

What we saw today was the difference between an NFL QB and a want to br.

    • BerwynBomber

      That’s okay. He’s a rookie.

But what is starting to concern me is how well he can perform against a pass rush and what his actual ceiling is.

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Like you said. He is a rookie, no need for concern just yet.

        • SC Dave

          I’m not concerned.

At the same time i.I’m not willing to pretend he didnt suck today.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Get real.

That’s like saying what we saw last week was the second coming.

      • SC Dave

Wrong. What i said was right

        • AlbertInTucson

          Not wrong.

          Knee jerk reaction.

          • SC Dave

            You mean yours, of course.

          • AlbertInTucson

You need to drink a lot less.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

            LMAO!

          • SC Dave

Dont be stupid, Al. Its beneath you.

            Trubisky was BAD today.

            Do you REALLY imagine otherwise?

          • AlbertInTucson

            He had a poor outing.

Your comment writes him off based on today. Like last week never happened or like he’s had more than 10 pro starts.

            THAT is stupid.

          • SC Dave

            Only in your mind Al.

Point is that Trubs had a chance to shine to the nation. And he didnt.

            He played like bad Rex

          • BearDown100393

If this team was any better, a lot of livers here would be in better shape.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

            Define better. Mine’s quite robust.

          • BearDown100393

Learning to get down and slide. Good, good, good.

      • SC Dave

Damnit… your comment so pisses me off.

And you’ve NEVER done that before Al. Not even remotely.

I said NOTHING about last week being the second coming. And in truth, my opinion that Trubisky played badly todayis the ultimate form of “getting real”.

        • beninnorcal

You essentially said he’s not an NFL qb based off todays game. Al’s right, too soon to know, too small a sample size

          • AlbertInTucson

            How DARE you summarize accurately!

          • SC Dave

He is a want to be. That says NOTHING abojt his inability to become one.

Its merely a statement that reflects current reslity.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

He knows that Dave. His point is that last week’s game is no more an indicator that he’s going to the Pro Bowl than this one is that he’s going to the scrap heap.

          Settle down my friend.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Thank you.

        • AlbertInTucson

I never said YOU called it the second coming. I said it was as IF someone did.

          This is tiresome.

I need to dig out my Bears ornaments.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

What I saw today was one coach (Caldwell) who looked like he was waiting for the funeral to start, and another coach (Fox) who looked like he was preparing for the wake to start.

Fox looked pretty happy for a guy losing all game.

On the sidelines he looked more like a guy contemplating his real estate holdings than coaching a football game.

  • Viva Dave Toub

    It’s Brown’s week, baby!!!

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Hahahaha! Yes it is!

      Let’s light this candle.

  • RenoBear

I love how the Trubisky haters trash on him in his 22nd start since high school… they somehow think he should be an instant star. They so conveniently forget Brees first 3 seasons w 28tds and 32 ints…. or Manning’s 31 ints his rookie year…. kid isn’t going to be bad… there’s some skills there. THe pick in the end zone was a bad decision. But I am amazed at the amount of people who just want to kill the kid for some mistakes that seasoned vets make. Oh wait… I’m not that surprised.. many bears fans are pretty flippin ridiculous

    • BerwynBomber

      Who’s trashing him?

      • RenoBear

Just things I see here and around dem innerwebs

      • AlbertInTucson

        SC.

        • SC Dave

Was today what you want from your “franchise’ QB

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

            He’s a R-O-O-K-I-E. It is expected.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Thank you.

          • AlbertInTucson

What part of “rookie” do you not comprehend?

          • SC Dave

            Seriously?

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Ease up Old Timer. This whole deal is about seasoning Trubisky right now. He’s getting it. And the Bears will be better for it.

          • SC Dave

Go bsck to what I wrote in the 1st quarter today…

The deer in the headlights is over… and. that’s a Good Thing

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

You are old enough to have seen a lot of rookies play in the NFL and you still expect this one to be perfect out the gate….

          • SC Dave

You camt be that fucking ignoramt? When have I EVER on this blog expected Trubisky to be the motherfucking messiah?

FOR FUCKS SAKE, I’VE been one of those to not jump off the cliff to the snake god

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Dude! Never have I ever accused you of expecting MT to be the messiah, however you and a couple others have dogged any little bad play by MT since his first game. You keep saying, not what you want out of a ‘franchise’ qb, and consistently disregard the fact that he is a rookie. Get a little perspective.

      • SC Dave

Do any of you actually deny he had a bad game?

        Really?

You were slobbering ™ the second coming

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

          He was great.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

            LOL. Stir that pot.

Trubisky is making progress on the season. He made some excellent throws today and some bad decisions. The good news is he’s got a very live arm and he’s learning.

I think he’s going to be very good. I can’t wait to watch him play with a true #1 and #2 after an off-season.

          • BearDown100393

            Braverman!

          • SC Dave

Yes… good news is that he does show very clear sig s og improvement.

But that does NOT mean he didnt suck today.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Manning only had 28 ints his rookie year.

      • RenoBear

        Ya got me!

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

not that it really matters, you point was good.

      • beninnorcal

        ‘only’

      • BearDown100393

Also started all 16 and didn’t get benched for a Giraffe.

    • BearDown100393

This is your biggest concern after today’s loss?

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

My biggest concern is the next coach and next year’s 1 and 2 receiver.

        • BearDown100393

          No more siphoning from Tampa.

      • RenoBear

Not a concern at all… laughing at people that think he’s part of the problem in the big picture…

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Kids gonna be special. The next coaching hire MUST be a home run.

      • BearDown100393

        Jay was special too.

        • That Guy

And you don’t think Jay Cutler could have been a lot better than he turned out if he had better and more consistent coaching early in his career?

      • SC Dave

And if the kid is not special, it’s of course on the coach ?

        • BearDown100393

Nah it is on Pacebot for not hiring a special enough HC to bring out the extra specialness of Mitch.

          Because the Bears are special.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I’m on record here saying Pace should go if he shits the bed on this coaching hire.

          • BearDown100393

I am curious to learn who is on his interview list.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

With any luck, we’ll see some of them during the 1 and 2 seeds’ bye weeks.

          • BearDown100393

Jeff Fisher already bought a new sweater.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Perfect. And Mel Tucker gets the D and Mike Tice gets the O. We’re putting the band back together.

It’s no wonder Cutler was so damn salty.

          • BearDown100393

Do not forget about Ron Turner.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Don’t put words in my mouth bud. You going to pretend the coach isn’t really, really important?

I’ll reserve judgment until I see what happens.

It is entirely possible for a coach to fail to develop a talented player. It is also possible for a player to just not have “it”.

I think he’s got it. You don’t. We’ll wait and see.

          • SC Dave

And don’t put words in mine. I merely reserve judgment too.

            Call it a Missouri thing.

            Show me.

  • shonbear

    here here reno

  • ButtonShoes
  • UCF Bears Fan

Just wish it was a better game…especially after last week

    • ButtonShoes

Last week was fool’s gold. If that Bengals defense had been fully healthy, we’d have been in real trouble.

  • SC Dave

I know many of you all are butthurt today.

But THE REALITY of today’s game is that Trubisky was bad Rex today.

    • BearDown100393

He was a special Bad Rex today.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

        LOL.

    • Irish Sweetness

Bad Rex was a 6 turnover day.

      Season ain’t over yet!

  • BuddhaJoe

Shitty game all around. Of course all the press is burying Trub despite the fact that 2 of his 3 picks were desparation throws down 3 scores in the 4th.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Apparently context is of no matter.

      • BerwynBomber

        Neither is accurate context.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Reality is always somewhere in the middle here on game day. Generally speaking, it’s a shade closer to the optimistic viewpoint IMHO.

I’ve seen enough good from Trubisky to feel confident in the pick. But Pace blows the coaching hire, and it simply doesn’t matter.

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, I’m certainly not giving up on the kid or calling him a bust. Far from it.

But I’m also not a fan of the hypersensitive protection of him and having every mistake excused. Saw that for nearly a decade with Cutler around here.

A couple people like SCD and BD dare throw some shade, and it’s suddenly “OMG, the haters!” nonsense.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

No doubt. Trubisky made some bad decisions today, and some amazing throws. All there is to it.

          • SC Dave

Dont leave out the WTF crazy bad throws tho.

          • Irish Sweetness

Sounds a lot like Jimmy Mac, and he was our last pro-bowler.

          • BearDown100393

It was the same with Rex I’m sure.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Dave went on a rant a couple gameday threads ago because a few of us were excited about the progress we were seeing. He accused us of being Knob Slobbers. I really think the guy hates anytime anyone has hope or excitement. He is the Grinch of the Bears. It’s the constant negativity that I have a problem with.

          • BearDown100393

            Knob Slobbers

            or

            Slobber Knockers

            I forget.

          • SC Dave

You’re myopia is curious. I, for example, dont hate on JH based on s notion that he cant catch like matt forte (who you, of course, hated too).

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Never hated Forte, we did not resign him. I wasn’t going to pine/whine for him for a year. He was no longer on the team, move on.

          • SC Dave

Your second paragraph is the fucking bomb, and I am now a subscriber to your newsletter.

          • BearDown100393

            I don’t want to “hate”.
            I just want to win.
10 losses every season is not acceptable.

    • BerwynBomber

I would hardly call that EZ pick desperation. Or if it was: it was premature desperation. There were still eight or nine minutes left when he threw that pass.

      • BuddhaJoe

8 minutes left and down 3 scores? I guess we’re splitting hairs but that’s close to garbage time if you ask me.

        • BerwynBomber

We would have been down only two scores but for the INT.
But ok then. Only one INT counts. Got it.

        • SC Dave

Snd garbage time makes it acceptable to make a garbage throw for your rookie franchise-to be?

    • SC Dave

      Don’t be an enabler

  • Viva Dave Toub

This is exactly what growth looks like.

Well that should pretty much wrap up the John Fox era. Loins are a better team and with the help of jeff triplette and the Marx Brothers, the Bears fate was pretty well sealed. Yes Dave MT had a bad game. Was he the sole reason they lost? Of course not. I don’t know of any QB’s that haven’t had multi-pick games.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

The more important thing is the kid is showing he can zip the ball into tight windows and get it there. He’s also going through progressions now. Learning to hit the hard count just right.

      He’s absolutely getting better.

      • CanadaBear

I had no issue with him today. He’s a rookie, that shit happens. Totally agree about that live arm. Those deep ins are on a line!

        • SC Dave

But it’s okay to jump Fox’ ass as the enabler?

Not sure you did, Canada, but its all over the blog today.

          • CanadaBear

Not me. I’ve been on the fire fox campaign since before MT arrived.

      • Irish Sweetness

Once more, Troy Aikman didn’t win a game his rookie season. He played a beat-up backup defensive secondary and no Burfict last week. The test was always going to be a better secondary. He met them today, and in two years he’ll probably know what to do instinctively with them. He’ll be fine.

    • AlbertInTucson

Fox at the end of the 49er game wrapped it up for me.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

        That’s a long leash.

        • AlbertInTucson

Long enough to hang him with, now.

          • SC Dave

So Trubisky throws 3 picks and its on Fox?

          • BearDown100393

Yeah I’m tired of Hobo’s hellfire offense philosophy of throwing bombs on 1st down in triple coverage.

We need to get off the bus running.

      • CanadaBear

I gave up on him last year.

    • SC Dave

Its never easy to win when your QB throws 3 int.

      • BearDown100393

        Could have been worse.

      • CanadaBear

Did you think MT was going to develop without having multi-pick games?

        • SC Dave

No. But are you intending to contradict me?

  • UCF Bears Fan

coaches make a difference……my college team was winless 2 years ago…..get rid of fox!

  • BearDown100393

“Can’t wait for the next coach to realize Mitch Trubisky is really good and build offensive philosophy around that fact.”

So Pace would hire a HC who didn’t think Trubisky was “really good”?

    HC Interviews…

Pacebot: What do you think of Mitch?

HC Candidate: Oh JFC that guy really sucks. Hobo was right all along

    Pacebot: You’re hired.

Get off the sauce Jeff. Seriously.

  • CanadaBear

Speaking of eras ending, I think McPhee is done. His last play was a microcosm of his career in Chi. Make a nice play, injured for a few games.

    • BearDown100393

      He was done last season.

      • CanadaBear

He was done after the first season.

        • BearDown100393

          Yeah. Bad signing.

          • CanadaBear

Pace took a shot that McPhee could increase his snaps and remain an effective player. Turned out Baltimore was correct and he needed his snaps managed. He looked really good until he got hurt that first year. Since then, so-so at best,

          • BearDown100393

Might be time for Pacebot to start analyzing why some teams dump certain players before signing them.

          • ButtonShoes

That would require him to be good at his job. Something he isn’t. I guarantee he’ll sign a bunch of injured, old players off the bottom of the FA scrap heap next year, same as he does every year. And they’ll break/fail 1-2 games into the new season. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

          • BearDown100393

And yet oddly, nobody above him is qualified enough to fire Pacebot.

    • SC Dave

      Sad but true

      • BearDown100393

Can still scream with the best of ’em.

  • AlbertInTucson

KC gunner running behind his bench and no call.

    • BearDown100393

      Not true.

Tripplet threw his flag from Detroit.

  • beninnorcal

We sure are a reactive bunch around here aren’t we?
The ’17 Bears aren’t good. The end.
Curious to see who’s coaching the ’18 team.

    • UCF Bears Fan

agreed. anyone is better than hobo at this point

      • BearDown100393

        Trestman….

        • UCF Bears Fan

          ok almost anyone

    • CanadaBear

If the weather in Chicago is shitty on X-mas Eve, that Cle game could set the no-show record at Soldier Field.

      • BerwynBomber

Wonder if SNF will choose to flex it?

        • CanadaBear

Is it supposed to be the late game?

          • BerwynBomber

            I was kidding

          • AlbertInTucson

I recommend labeling all sarcastic posts.

I forgot to on my “Not Hanging My Bear Ornaments” comment and caught grief.

          • BerwynBomber

But takes the fun out of it.

And hey, I liked your “not hanging Bears ornaments” post. I laughed and upvoted. Need to scroll down and see what flack u caught.

          • AlbertInTucson

            SC turned it against me.

          • CanadaBear

After I asked I realized no sane programming director would have thought The Duel of the Factories of Sadness would ever be a candidate for SNF before the season.

          • BerwynBomber

Well my lame attempt at humor was meant to imply might they flex it in rather than out.
Ah well. Not my strong suit.

          • CanadaBear

I can be thick as a brick.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

They should move it to 10:00 am on PBS.

          • BearDown100393

It will broadcast opposite to the Kid Rock Christmas Extravaganza Live From the White House

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Better not. Have been waiting months for that Kid Rock Show, it’s going to be off the hook!

          • BearDown100393

Monster Trucks, Hookers, Blow and a Gitmo Execution.

            Baby Jesus is mighty proud.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Don’t you do Gravedigger and Bigfoot like that.

          • BearDown100393

Gravedigger is being used for something special. A jump and land on top of walking family straddling the southern border.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

            Gravedigger would never do that.

          • BearDown100393

It would to piss off “El Torro”

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Hahahaha!!! Yes. Forgot about El Torro. That’s the one with the horns on it, right? Ahhh to be a kid again.

          • BearDown100393

            Don’t forget about the smoke!

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

You know how I love my Christmas Eve mornings white, trashy and political. Don’t tease me.

          • BearDown100393

Oh so you’ll be on Twitter also…. 🙂

      • evantonio

i’ve got 2 free tickets with your name on them if you’re bold enough to take them off my hands.

        • CanadaBear

Thanks but no thanks. Appreciate the thought but those would end up being the most expensive free tix ever (for me). Besides the flights, ferry rides, lodging, etc. I would be semi-home for X-mas and would have to visit all 3 sisters. I’m OK with all of that except I would much rather see them all in the summer. My sister in Chicago retired last year and they now permanently live on the other side of the lake. No more crashing on the sofa/sleeper in town for this tight ass!

    • BearDown100393

2016: 3-13 The ’16 Bears aren’t good. The end. Sure are reactive.
2015: 6-10. The ’15 Bears aren’t good. The end. Sure are reactive.
2014: 5-11. The ’14 Bears aren’t good. The end. Sure are reactive.
2013: 8-8. The ’13 Bears aren’t good. The end. Sure are reactive.

      • ButtonShoes

Seriously. At what point is it considered OK to be angry at this repeated failure? Because all I see are endless excuses for it.

        • BearDown100393

I have no idea. I am curious though.

          • ButtonShoes

Well it’s been at least a quarter of a century, most of it terrible. So I figure it starts there.

          • BearDown100393

If only Dick Jauron was given more of a fair chance…….

  • BearDown100393

What I noted during the end of this Detroit debacle…..

    A. Players did not quit.
    B. Coaching staff is garbage.
    C. Pacebot glaring.
    D. Mitch on the sideline taking charge of his offense. Not screaming. Not head shaking. But taking charge. Engaged.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Reasonable assessment.

That endzone pick was vintage Cutler.

The difffence being, Cutler wasn’t 10 games into his career at the time.

      • BearDown100393

        Give it time! 🙂

        • AlbertInTucson

He’s shown some patience prior to this.

More than Jay pretty much ever did.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Boy Rivers is slow as hell. That was a painful scramble.

    • AlbertInTucson

Well, I don’t recall him ever being very fleet afoot and his IS 36.

      • UCF Bears Fan

        bring in eli

        • BearDown100393

Trade Rivers for Eli straight up.

          The irony

          • UCF Bears Fan

what could rivers done with that giants D for several years???

          • BearDown100393

Rivers vs Strahan in the locker room would have been gold.

          • UCF Bears Fan

            priceless!!!

          • AlbertInTucson

Cousins signs with the Giants and Eli goes to The Jags…?

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

LOL. When Eli is the “fast guy”…….

          • BearDown100393

Rich Eisen in his suit could outrun Eli and Rivers in a 40.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

The sack that followed shortly thereafter was even worse. He just can’t move anymore.

It is nice to have a young guy with wheels.

  • BearDown100393

    Tale of 2 Mitchs

    1. Mitch does something right
Response – Pace is a genius! Mitch is great! I told you so! He’s only had {fill in the blank} starts since Pop Warner!

    2. Mitch does something wrong
Response – Pace sucks. Mitch is a bust! I told you so! He’s only had {fill in the blank} starts since Pop Warner!

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Reality is 1a for now.

      • BearDown100393

I think the true reality is the rookie quarterback is far more vested in the Bears future (and of course his own development) than his “coaches”.

  • BerwynBomber

C’mon, Chargers. You climbed all the way back into the playoff hunt to do this?

    • AlbertInTucson

      1) I’d like a game worth watching.

      2) I could use some FF points from Melvin Gordon.

    • UCF Bears Fan

who cares…. its SD vs KC .suck it up buttercup

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

        Obviously, he does. WTF?

        • UCF Bears Fan

          but why?

          • BearDown100393

Because the Chargers are now in LA and no longer in SD?

          • UCF Bears Fan

damn still need to get used to LA not SD,,,wooops

          • UCF Bears Fan

my apologies to the 2 LA fans out therer

          • BerwynBomber

Football/NFL fan. Two teams fighting for a division title. Sue me.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Perhaps he likes meaningful NFL games between decent teams.

  • AlbertInTucson

    ILL advised throw.

  • BerwynBomber

    Nice drive. SD needed that.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I really don’t care who wins or loses this game. But as far as FF I don’t want Rivers to be throwing any TDs especially to Allen.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Hand that rock to Gordon!

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

          exactly give him 50 carries.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Hmm.

No react thread from “The Professor”…?

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

he went to see Star Wars. Posted earlier that there would be no thread from him

      • ButtonShoes

Much better use of his time. Even if the new movie isn’t so great. Well, at least I didn’t think it was.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

          I liked it.

          • AlbertInTucson

Getting decent critical reviews but I’ll wait until I can see it for free.

          • ButtonShoes

I’d tell anyone to give it a shot.

          • AlbertInTucson

The previews look so much like stuff we’ve seen over and over.

          • BearDown100393

Well yes…. the franchise recycles the same script for the 8th time and collects billions.

Having said that…. I’m going tomorrow.

          • AlbertInTucson

            LOL.

What the hell not, I keep watching Bear games?

          • BearDown100393

            Which happens first?

            A. The Empire defeats the Rebellion

            B. The Bears defeat the Erin’s Packers

          • AlbertInTucson

I refuse to answer on the grounds that the answer will depress me.

          • BearDown100393

Yeah I root for the Empire also

          • FresnoBear88

Rey goes to the dark side

          • BearDown100393

Understandable. What exactly did the “good guys” ever do for her?

          • Irish Sweetness

It was good entertainment that George Lucas would have trimmed down to two hours and the movie would be better for it. You could cut down the whole BS Canto Bight sequence to 5 minutes.

We need the spoiler thread, Jefe. One word. Snoke.

          • ButtonShoes

            Well that’s fine.

        • BearDown100393

The Empire/First Order really are complete failures when you think about it.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Ahhh.

    • BearDown100393

Due to lack of interest, Data instead devoted himself to The Last Jedi.

  • BerwynBomber

Gotta hand it to Melvin Gordon. He had a whiff of a bust about him that first year or two. He’s become a productive RB.

  • BerwynBomber

Horrible tackling there by the Chargers. That PAT miss might loom large too.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Don’t they almost ALWAYS?

  • UCF Bears Fan

OK just curios….Bears wins next year 10+ or less than 10?????

    • BearDown100393

      16-0
      3-0

      Super Bowl

      • UCF Bears Fan

            Keep it up

          • BearDown100393

            Oh I will……

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky

            LOL.

    • ButtonShoes

Based on past experience, I’d have to say less than 10. Less than 9 or 8, probably.

      • BearDown100393

7-9 and miss the playoffs would be dreamy…..

        • ButtonShoes

This team has so much work to do just to be average.

          • BearDown100393

8-8 might get the Bears a downtown parade.

          • ButtonShoes

I would be shocked if they were 8-8.

    • AlbertInTucson

4 or 5 wins one season to 10 the next does happen in the NFL but…

      • UCF Bears Fan

        one can dream

        • AlbertInTucson

It’s why we keep coming back, no?

          Hawks came through.

          Sox.

          Cubs.

At least I have been around long enough to have enjoyed them all, including the Bears in ‘85.

          • BearDown100393

It only took a century for the Cubs.

            Bears got this.

          • AlbertInTucson

Less than 90 for the White Sox.

          • BearDown100393

            Overachievers!

        • UCF Bears Fan

Hawks have done it. Im an born cubs fan and bears fan. Cubs did it….lets go bears…..

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

happens more often than you think

      • ButtonShoes

If it happens, it means that Mitch is legit.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

          no it doesn’t.

          • ButtonShoes

From what I’ve read, to go from low single-digit wins to double-digit wins in just 1 year is a good sign you may have your franchise QB. Especially if those double-digit wins keep up the season after that.

          • BearDown100393

There was no stopping Tampa when Trent Dilfer came aboard.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

If the 2x digit win seasons continue for more than one year then Yes, I would consider MT to be legit. Jim Miller took a Bears team that was 5-11, and went 13-3 the next year. I would not call Miller legit in anyway.

          • BearDown100393

Jim Miller is gawddamn legend and you know it.

          • AlbertInTucson

And after that13-3 they went right back to 4 -12.

Consecutive winning seasons is another sore spot for this franchise.

        • BearDown100393

          Mitch Legit Won’t Quit?

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Waaaaay to many variables to even guess. Coach and supporting staff, WR 1 and 2, ILB, OLB etc. All needs upgrades. Can’t even guess until preseason gets underway.

  • AlbertInTucson

    3 man rush.

THE exact wrong way to defend the Hail Mary.

ESPECIALLY with the statuesque Rivers back there.

  • BearDown100393

Anyone else disturbed by the conjoined twins pic always above the thread?

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I used to be. But then I clicked the ‘X’ in the upper right hand corner and removed it. I have not seen it since.

      • BearDown100393

        Looking for that ‘X’

    • AlbertInTucson

      Never saw that one.

  • BearDown100393
    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

3 of his QBs he coached the last 2 years he was with the Rams are most likely starting in the playoffs this year. Goff, Keenum, and Foles.

      • BearDown100393

He will be introducing all 3 in Canton also.

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

      Good lord.

  • BerwynBomber

    Rivers … bad decision …

  • BerwynBomber

This should be not be overturned. But let’s see. The whole idea of “indisputable” has been lost.

  • FresnoBear88

Three turnovers fucked us over plain and simple.

    • BerwynBomber

That and the fact until the fourth quarter we were on track for less than 200 total yards of O.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

And the punt return called back. And the 50/50 ball Jackson got beat on.

        • SC Dave

That punt return recall was rather bullshit IMO

          • BerwynBomber

I thought it was okay. But the hands to the face on Fuller was utter nonsense.

  • BerwynBomber

Chargers self-imploding here. Chiefs being advantageous.

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

Don’t worry. Andy Reid’s got this.

    • AlbertInTucson

Rivers not looking any better than Trubisky…?

      • BerwynBomber

        Yeah an atrocious game.

      • beninnorcal

Was thinking the exact same thing, only one of them is a rook and the other a veteran.

  • SC Dave

On the late flare pass to Howard where he caught it and backed out of bounds…

It was, to me, reminiscent of the play vs. Atlanta – both plays in which the ball got there too late.

Versus Atlanta, IIRC the play seemed to call for Howard to catch the ball over his left shoulder rather than his right (endzone) side. Whether my perception is correct or not, the ball delivered earlier over Howard’s *right* side would have been a walk-in TD.

Today, Howard caught one that led nowhere but to step out of bounds. But late this time was good, as it was the result of MT going through at least three reads before settling on Howard, Had Jordan a little clock in his head (in sync with the in MTs head) that had told him it was time to turn upfield, it could turn into a YUGE gainer.

I’m hoping to see that next year. Like the long term teammates do…

  • burntorangenavyblue

Had no idea they played tonight. What did I miss? Ah, ok. Nevermind. Hope all you guys and gals are doing well. Goodnight!
