Jay Cutler is the scapegoat? C’mon Jeff, enough with the sillyness.

Mid-level QB’s? It’s a crapshoot, don’t waste your energy. A 3rd round draft pick outside of Belicheata’s system might as well sign Mike Glennon.

Bears Ownership? They’re a bad investment.

      sustained Playoffs questions?
      1. Dallas 3 playoff appearances in 10 years.
      2. Atlanta 4 playoff appearances in 10 years.
      3. Carolina 4 playoff appearances in 10 years.
      4. Denver 5 playoff appearances in 10 years.
      5. Giants 5 playoff appearances in 10 years.
      6. New Orleans 5 playoff appearances in 10 years.(FYI you did not list them)

So you listed 10 teams that are always in the ‘Sustained Success Zone’ yet 3 of those teams have made the playoff less that 1/2 the time in 10 years, and 2 of the teams made it 1/2 the time. Jeff may be minimizing successful organization, but you suck at math if you think making the playoff 3 or 4 times in 10 years is almost every year.

Cutler is the only one paying for the Trestman Years? Good lord. He got his big fat new contract during the Trestman Years. Actually, Jay is the only party of major note whom we are still paying from the Trestman Years. And what did he give us for $54M guaranteed? One lousy season, one competent Alex Smith-like season, and one injured/lousy season.

Moreover, we had already seen five years of his prior work here.

If you want to keep Jay, fine. Make the case for his positives. But spare us the silly victimhood stuff. We’ve seen/heard eight freaking years of Cutler excuses. It’s beyond tiresome.

It’s just so old. Hell, I get some of the argument for keeping Cutler another year, but this whole “Chicago done him wrong” crap is just that: a steaming pile of it.

Heck, every poll Jeff conducted on Cutty always had more supporters than detractors. Yet he acts like there is a 11 million strong lynch mob surrounding the guy’s house. And my guess is the majority that want him gone don’t hate him. They’ve just seen enough. In some cases, more than enough.

  • Artoo

At the end of the day, I see both sides for Cutler.

He never truly had a good offensive coordinator. At least, not long enough to keep showing signs of progress. He’s had coaches, teammates, and general managers throw him under the bus.

That being said, he never once lived up to the potential that he was supposed to be worth. Some quarterbacks in this league would kill to have players like Forte, Bennett,Marshall, and Jeffery all on the field at the same time.

In the end, Cutler took way too much heat that most qbs shouldn’t have to take. Yet, Brady could take it. Both Manning’s could take it. Even his friend Aaron Rodgers could take it.

I would make that trade time and time again for Cutler based on his stats and arm. Unfortunately, it never worked out and no matter how much you try to shift the blame, it will always come back to Cutler.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Jeff’s just trying to stir the pot with his cutler blowjobs. It’s getting tiresome.

    • BerwynBomber

The initial trade I would never question. The contract Emery gave him I did and always will.

Cutty took no more blame than most QBs. And in terms of CHI, his OCs, not to mention his OLinemen and skill players, received it too. Much of it was deserved. Then again, so was Cutler’s.

      • Artoo

I don’t know about that. Very rarely did I ever see Manning, Brady, or Rodgers have most of the team against them. Let alone their head coach let it happen.

        Just my .02

        • BerwynBomber

Most of the team against him? When? Certain guys spoke about him after they left — most notably Lach and Uni — but it seemed as if his team and the organization almost always had his back.

The only questionable treatment of him was by Trestman and the assistant coach whose name I now forget during the ’14 season. But let’s also remember how Jay’s effort was perceived that year (especially during that infamous Mon game against the Saints) or how he performed that year.

No doubt Cutler rarely had weapons and protection near what Ryan and Prescott had/received this year, but most of the victim stuff is pure bullshit. Nothing’s ever perfect for a majority of QBs — including the HoFers like Brady, Rodgers and Brees. Nor, for that matter, the bottom of the league guys. Nor for the average guys like Cutty himself.

          • MB30SD

            Yeees

          • Johnnywad

            All truth.

We need to stop even using Brady as a measuring stick too. It’s an unfair and irrelevant comparison to make. He’s one of the best to ever play for damn near two decades. Cutler is just a middle of the road active QB. People bitch about Cutler’s weapons. Go have a look at the pedigree of Brady’s receivers. If I remember correctly it’s a UDFA, a late round QB, and a lacrosse player. And when he did have a real receiver he broke records.

          • MB30SD

            jup

          • BerwynBomber

The Rodgers comparison was never fair either. For both guys. Jay’s has some unique talents (mainly his arm, to a lesser extent his mobility), but Rodgers is all-world. It was just Jay’s misfortune to be the dude’s chief divisional rival the last eight years.

And in terms of surrounding talent, ATL’s and DAL’s are way up there (Prescott might arguably be playing with four future HoFers on DAL’s O unit). But even a team like the Cheese’s isn’t all that. Yes, Nelson, Cobb and Adams are all above average but none are near the level of Julio, Dez, OBJ, Green, etc.

Would it have been nice to provide Jay more years of BMarsh, Alshon, Uni and Forte? Sure. But frankly, I don’t know if it would made a ton of difference. Jay is what he is.

          • “Cutler is just a middle of the road active QB”

But that’s the thing. He SHOULDN’T be.

Cutler had all the tools. There’s a reason why he was drafted in the 1st while other guys with less athleticism and arm (Brady, Romo, etc) did not.

If you were to play with Cutler in Madden, he checks all the boxes.

It’s just his “awareness” that sucks, or drive, or “it” that is lacking.

          • Johnnywad

That description fits more NFL players than not. Cornelius Washington and JWebb should be very accomplished players by that same measure. But they just aren’t. Or take a look at Julian Edelman. No way that guy should be the receiver he is, and yet, here we are. I think this dovetails nicely into my point the other day regarding a developmental league. Pretty much every player in the league has some degree of measurable physical tools that set them apart from ordinary folks. Some obviously with higher measurements than others. But it sure seems to me that once you cross a certain threshold of athleticism, the rest is all about the “it” factor.

Cutty has “it”, but it’s not always there for some reason.

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

Team leaders which is what qbs are, need to be admired or feared by their peers. Cutler was neither.

          • Irish Sweetness

Right now he’s our best shot at winning. If we draft a QB … Cutty’s our best shot at winning. He’d be perfect as a play-action QB, and not having to to come from 2 or 3 TDs down all the time.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

It’s a crap shoot either way. If I’m Pace and my plans don’t include Cutty, he gone. Pretty much all depends on how Pace adresses the position in the off season.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

I have always questioned the trade. Only weak organizations drop trou for flat tits and a handjob. Yup, Cutler gave the Bears a hand job while chewing gum and looking the other way.

      • MB30SD

Flat titties are yucky. :_ (

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

Lol. Howzit? Still in the bush?

    • Captain Obvious

I agree with what you’re saying. I think Cutler could have been top-tier, but his talent was squandered by poor coaching, poor personnel decisions, and then his natural inclination to be a “gunslinger” just got the best of him.

That doesn’t absolve him of blame. But he caught way too much shit, like when he rightfully berated Webb and people lost their shit, while Aaron Rodgers threw hissy fit after hissy fit and people called him a “great leader.”

However, I WOULDN’T make the trade again — unless in our hypothetical re-running of the tape, I could change the coaching. Especially Mike Martz. That guy really screwed the pooch. I look at all of Cutler’s worst habits, and it seems like they really grew roots during the Martz Era.

    • SC Dave

    • DaCoaches Mustache

In hindsight, that trade for Cutler was a killer and it’s a big part of the reason why the Bears are now dogshit. Wouldn’t you rather have Orton and the 2 first rounders back? i know i would. Orton was starting to get good the year they traded him. I guess when you factor in who would be making those 2 first round picks it gets a little fuzzy, but by any metric, Cutler has been a huge, un-vaccinated, pouting disappointment. But yeah, great arm.

      • MB30SD

        bing-ho!

      • willbest

Nonsense. If the bears had used those picks to get a legit LT and WR1, we could have won in 2010 or 2011 with Orton. But Angelo wasn’t going to do that.

  • Huge Bears Penis

I agree with almost everything Jeff said about the QB position. I don’t get the ‘bad rap’ view of Cutler, he deserves a lot of what is said about him.

With that being said we can not go into next year with Hoyer as our QB. In the past several poster point to Pace’s press conference when he is talking about what he looks at for a QB, and you all say it does not match up with Cutler. Well news flash, it sure as hell does not match up with Hoyer either.

I have stated before with Hoyer we will win 5-6 games. There are a lot of problems with Hoyer but I will only focus on one. The problem with Hoyer is he has absolutely no downfield game. Teams will quickly realize this if they haven’t already and start stacking the box. This will only lead to one thing: Our young stud RB taking HUGE hits and probably getting injured.

If it was between Hoyer and Cutler, I will take Cutler everyday of the week and 2x on Sundays. I do accept that there is almost no chance Cutler will be on the team next year, so for the love of God find anyone but Hoyer. Go after Jimmy G, McCarron, Taylor. Hell I would settle for Kaepernick over Hoyer. These QBs do not have the same limitations as Hoyer.

    • SC Dave

We still have Barkley and Shaw. I’m okay rolling with them and fixing everything else.

Preserve Howard somewhat until we get our new QB in 2018.

And yes, MB, you’ve been saying it for weeks. I’m fine with it. Of course, we *could* get lucky and find a great QB in round 5.

      • MB30SD

i’m ok with all of that.

    • only way i see them holding hoyer is if they get rid of alshon. then it won’t matter if we can’t throw downfield because we don’t have that big downfield threat.

in other words, we better not be holding onto hoyer.

            Hoyer 1-4, 67% completion, 7.2 yrd per attemp, 6 TD 0 INT, PR 98

            Fuck Hoyer. Bring back McCown.

          • BerwynBomber

Over their career, though, I bet Hoyer has been the better the QB.
Would be interesting to note what each’s stats were at CLE. That might be a more equitable comparison than their respective time in CHI.

          • SC Dave

Each played two seasons in Celveland; Brian Hoyer W-L was 10-6, where Josh McCown was 1-10. Anybody that can go 10-6 with CLEVELAND should at least be in the mix.

Statistically, Hoyer has a significantly better career passer rating (84.8 to 78.2), primarily because he does not turn the ball over anywhere near as much. For comparison, Cutler’s is 85.7.

Hoyer all the way over McCown.

Divide and conquer my man. This is the oldest trick in their bag. I meet and talk with great people and honestly, I give 2 shirts about their color.

          • BerwynBomber

Whose bag? And why do you feel the need to tell me about your color-blindness?

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

            The loudmouths?

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Wow! It’s not about color ber. It’s about ignorance and fearful people with small minds.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Personally, I think voting is pointless because National politics has always been about selection and not election. The next prez. will be a woman because they’ve been ramming it down our throats for over a decade now. We’re the sheeple dude, wake up mmmkay.

          • willbest

Bet she won’t. Liz Warren is like Hillary but without the warmth. I don’t think Tammy Duckworth could go 15 months in the national spotlight without saying something completely disqualifying. I guess there is that Kamila Harris gal out in CA, but I don’t know anything about her.

          • BerwynBomber

Dems will run a white male. My hunch at least. Maybe Cuomo if he decides to give it a go.

          • willbest

If I were to put money on it right now, I would go with Corey Booker. But I have about as much confidence in that as I do Pace drafting Thomas at #3.

          • BerwynBomber

Could be Booker but Newark was still a huge mess when he left for DC. On a state level that didn’t haunt him much. On a national level could be a different story.

Duckworth or Harris could be interesting too, but again, my bet is the Dems go white male after this last election.

Warren will be either 72 or 73 years old, and I don’t know if she call sell that well.

          • Johnnywad

Man. You’re under the impression that someone out there has this shit organized. I don’t see that at all. It’s closer to chaos IMO.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Order outta chaos? It’s called the bafflement my man.

          • Johnnywad

            You think too hard.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Maybe so, I don’t watch television.

          • Johnnywad

I don’t see that. The whole election swings on a very small handful of voters in a very small handful of states that could go either way in a given election. If a few in MI, WI and PA wake up on the other side of the bed on the morning of the election, Hillary is president. All the rest always vote for their party regardless of the candidate. I don’t see white male fear at all. Why didn’t they show up when President Obama was elected twice?
I think it was ten million Americans caught between two shitty candidates and needing to make a choice. So they chose something different. And boy did we get different.

          • willbest

But we haven’t. I mean his interaction with the media is different. But from a policy standpoint, everything he proposed has been in the mainstream for the last 20 years. The bitching and moaning aside. Main street Americans have always been dubious of free trade and open borders.

I might also note that the country’s geopolitical center is as changing as the weather. California used to be reliably red and Texas reliably blue. PA/MI might be moving the GOP’s way but NC and FL are moving against it and they have already lost VA and CO for the foreseeable future.

          • BerwynBomber

Because Obama was more popular and a better candidate than Hillary. But there is a TON of white male fear that fuels the energy of the Republican party.

And btw, I don’t think my explanation discounts yours. There is room for both and I don’t think everyone who voted for Trump did so because they’re bigoted.

          • willbest

And you know this based on your copious amounts of interaction with white males from those areas? Or did you read about it in Bezo’s blog?

Both sides use fear. Look at all the people out there that are terrified of the white working class now that their candidate won. Begging for impeachment when he hasn’t done anything and contemplating a military coup? How the hell would that come about if the Dems weren’t priming it 24/7 for the last decade.

But to think that people somehow get duped en mass to vote against their own quality of life interest? That is a rare bird. I do business for some importers who have never in their lives voted against the GOP until this election. Even a 15% tariff on their shit from China would ruin them and the 17 people they employ. My BiL family has never voted for a GOP, but they were brutalized by an Ohio plant closing and Trump promised to stop the bleeding. Hillary called them oppressors of women and minorities.

          • BerwynBomber

“Bezo’s blog”? WTH are you talking about?

The Republican Party has tapped into white fear for years, dating back with the southern strategy, and their policies have hardly been the most supportive of minorities of women. Who wants to restrict a woman’s right to choose? Voting right? Ban Muslims? Build a wall? Repeal universal health coverage? Etc. etc, etc.

If you don’t think “Make America Great Again” was a dog whistle for a sizable chunk of white voters’ fear and bigotry, than I think you’re being self-delusional.

          • willbest

If you hear the whistle, you are the dog.

          • BerwynBomber

Or you just see the dogs reacting and can deduct what is going on.

          • willbest

What makes you think they are reacting to a dog whistle instead of a squirrel you didn’t see? All you do is see them do something. You can only guess as to why.

          • BerwynBomber

I thought you already admitted it was a dog whistle? Now it’s something else because of one comeback?

Hah! You sure do a lot of diverting in these political discussions.

          • willbest

            so to recap…

BB: There is a dog whistle
WB: If you hear the whistle you are the dog
BB: I just see the dogs moving around
WB: How do you know it was a whistle?
            BB: BECAUSE SHUT UP

No doubt. And I would wager most folks that voted for Trump turned up their nose to do so.

I did. I just grew weary of the Clinton machine. But Trump is an asshole and already showing it.

The next four years look like a debacle from where I sit.

Times fucked up. It’s print and online story was different

      http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-nytimes-rebuke-china-story-234895

      • ah. interesting. didn’t know about that earlier article. in reading the politico post, it seems the WH didn’t send out notice of the conversation until after 11pm. i wonder if that was too late to get into the morning edition – like west coast baseball games not making it into the morning papers on the east coast.

        • willbest

That is a reasonable reason for the differences, but I often see notes in online articles about differences with the print edition. I would assume that would be a standard practice, but apparently not at the NYT.

Of course, this politico story will get no traction and people on the left will continue to think that Trump is deranged.

          • I mean. Based on timestamps, he sent out the Nordstrom’s tweet in the middle of his intelligence briefing. Is that what you want from your Commander in Chief?

          • willbest

I wonder how many people get paid to compare the WH schedule to timestamps on Trump’s social media.

          • Twitter sleuths, man. They’re there on the left and right.

That said, I’d like to repeat my question. Do you want a Commander in Chief who’s tweeting petty shit about his daughter’s clothing line during an intelligence briefing?

          • willbest

Did he? I mean all we know is that his tweet was 21 minutes after the meeting was scheduled to begin and that Press Sec said he wasn’t in the meeting when he tweeted. Did it start 15 minutes early? Was it only 15 minutes long? The only people that know for sure are Trump loyalist.

Now your assumption is that they are lying. I don’t have a problem with that. Nobody should assume the government is telling the truth about anything. But you need to understand that you are just guessing.

          • You’re doing some very nice dancing.

The question remains. Do you want a Commander in Chief who tweets about that stuff during an intelligence briefing.

Maybe this president did that. Maybe this president didn’t do that. Either way, would you want one who did?

          • willbest

Do I have a choice? Trump has already fulfilled his contract with me. That is he isn’t Hillary Clinton. Everything else positive he does like Gorsuch is gravy. Now I might have cause to revisit that if he starts up an 8th front in our war against tiny ass countries we shouldn’t give a shit about, but in the mean time I am perfectly content with him.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Those tiny ass countries that are the last sovereign Nations left. It’s a problem for the globalists due to international law so they have to spend years training proxy armies and go the long route.

          • willbest

I somehow doubt Syria and Libya were free countries before all this. I think the word you are looking for is unpredictable.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Sovereign and free? No such thing.

          • AlbertInTucson

If you can’t control your borders, “Sovereignty” is a myth.

          • AlbertInTucson

  • 505Bears

Trumaine Johnson or Stephon Gilmore? What if the Bears are able to pull off both? Then do they draft Allen or one of the safeties? If the Bears do FA right, they could potentially have a great D, given injuries don’t throw the wrench in it all.

    • Here’s something to keep in mind for FA this year:

Because the cap keeps going up a lot every year, there are a bunch of teams that are going to have silly money to spend. The Bears are looking at somewhere between $60-80M, yet they’re barely in the top 5.

The massive cap inflation is also making it easier for teams to keep the guys they really want to keep. So most of the best players won’t hit FA.

Huge demand, limited supply. Econ 101 says that means shit is gonna be EXPENSIVE. Look for comparable contracts, then inflate them significantly. That’s going to be FA this year.

      • willbest

Will it? the NFL posted a viewership loss. At some point the advertisers are going to to raise a stink and so will the Networks.

        • CanadaBear

Probably OK until the next TV contract.

        • that’s in the future. Years down the line before TV deals would start to lower in $$, which would lower the salary cap.

For now it’s really high and teams have to spend a certain amount of $$ per the CBA.

        • BerwynBomber

Single year, though, right? Wouldn’t be surprised if ratings are next fall.
Ultimately, the NFL’s popularity may trend downward but I’d still bet last year was a bit of an outlier.

      • SC Dave

Almost dire enough to want to keep Cutler. Almost.

        • Irish Sweetness

Suppose the best offer on the table is a low third for Cutler. 34. Injuries. Bad rep. Would you give up a starting QB for that .. .with nothing in reserve?

      • And FAs are definitely going to charge the Bears full price and then some since we’re a 3 win team.

Then gotta ask – what kinda players are we getting? – stone cold mercenaries? Is that the culture we wanna build?

Dunno. I guess Briggs worked out, and I always saw him as a hired gun even though he was a homegrown one.

          • Johnnywad

            Stone cold.

          • IT SAYS 99 CENTS ON THE CAN.

It felt like the NFL charging me full price for a preseason ticket even though 93% of the players will never see the field when the game counts.

unless we’re talking about the bears 2016, of course, when our roster was made of preseason rejects.

  • Bender McLugh

Is anyone actually saying a QB in the draft looks better than Jimmy G? I didn’t think so, it’s just the Pats factor about Jimmy G. that makes him a bigger risk than normal. Many here have said this & I agree. Smoke & Mirrors!

    • willbest

      Would rather spend a 2nd on mahomes, than a 1st on G

    • the pats factor, and people saying we should give up the 3rd overall pick for him.

      that’s hogwash.

      hog. wash.

    • Big Mike

The two knocks on him were inexperience vs more complex defenses and small hands/fumbles. If you don’t think being in the room with Brady for 3 years has crushed that, you don’t know football. Can’t fumble much more than Cutler did although having dealt with Grossman and his teeny tiny fumbly fingers, Pace would have to be comfortable with that.

He also had a 3/4 vs over the top motion coming out of school, but he’s corrected that. His release is very quick and he has a compact throwing motion.

      • Bender McLugh

*Cassell* cough-cough. Smoke & Mirrors! or not, but still the risk is there

        • Big Mike

Or not, is the operative phrase. I think there is certainly that cloud over JG. But is it too hard to argue that he’s the best guy out there this year? If you think he is, don’t like him, then you have to go with a plan B guy and delay the decision. At which point in time you look at #6, and go aw shit you again.

    • willbest

I think they are a prime candidate for one of the 3 QBs. By 13 all the “obvious” first round talent should be gone and gambling on a QB like Kizer becomes palatable vs. the 4th best pass rusher or second best tackle, 3rd DB, etc.

      • BerwynBomber

Or they could go after a Mahomes type in the second round. Regardless, looks like ARI won’t be a landing spot for Romo or Cutty.

        • Irish Sweetness

Hooker/Mahomes is better than any combination you get by going QB in Rd 1. A stud and a tryout.

Just needed to let it out cuz last night I was with one chick and a half!

    What does that mean, Butch?

    No, not a tranny.

That means I was in the backseat with an 18 yr old and her 19 yr old cute ass friend.

While the 18 yr old was giving me a blow, I was feeling up the 19 yr old half-Italian half Mex, all cute. MY god, her body in those lil panties.

This of course came after they were eating each other before I sorta joined in.

So, I’m like, Ok. (she already had discussed being with a girl for me)

Didn’t know it was going to turn out like this cuz never met the 19 yr, but my girl pretty much started making out with her in the back of my car, so I wasn’t about to start complaining. They were getting into it. too.

I’m going to personalize this one and discard the handles. I’ll call you Tom.

Tom, from your past posts about seriously considering and probably fucking married women who are going through crisis in their home life, pissing on fucking kids who are literally 4 years from being in 8th grade and all of the shit you don’t talk about I have to say that you are a taker.

As a grown man you have a greater ability to compartmentalize the shit you act on every week of your life so you’ll feel less terrible about engaging in it. You are an opportunist. From the context of the snapshot you provide of your life you are a good looking guy in your mid to late 30’s who sexually and on some level emotionally preys on the weak and who justifies and rationalizes his actions simply by the fact that someone else is agreeing to go along with it and it’s not technically abuse and straddles the borderline of legality.

Please know that through your life you will leave a wake of abuse victims long and distinguished. You’ll say that they would have done it anyway so what’s the harm in it being you that participates. You seem to actively seek out these situations to put yourself in and that is a true sign of a predator.

You are a willing participant in actions that consciously but mostly subconsciously are ruining or further damaging peoples ability to function in a normal capacity when it comes to relationships and intimacy. You don’t even realize that it’s you who are damaged as well. If you do realize it and you continue to rationalize and engage in the destructive behavior as an almost 40yr old then one can only assume that you are actively choosing to seek out these situations because of the high it brings you. The same mechanisms are present in all sorts of addiction.

I’d say “be a man” but to you that would just mean finding another kid that was willing to defile herself for reasons she probably won’t understand until she’s your age.

You are in fact a guy that I used to love in my own life.

    • MB30SD

      LOL

      Pussy!

…OK, I just read it. I agree with you. Smh

  • BuddhaJoe

Fuck, Mike Illitch died. I only wish the McCaskeys cared the same way he did about the Tigers.

    • BearDown100393

Resurrected the Red Wings as well. That was a putrid franchise when he purchased it.

You’re finally in the ballpark Chris Burke!

I’d be very OK with Adams, but still think hooker ends up being the berry-like guy.

    • BerwynBomber

      But a WR in R2? Hmmm …

      • MB30SD

Oh, I didn’t even look at Rd two. Predicting anything past our first is silly. So much goes on until then that everything changes.

That said, fuck no we’re not taking a wr. DL most likely… Or a TE if a great value one is there

  • MB30SD

Let’s fucking hope so Melissa… Let’s fucking hope so

Of all the teams decimated by injuries in 2016, the Bears may have been the most ravaged. A heavy dose of talent was sidelined. From Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long to running back Jeremy Langford to tight end Zach Miller to prized free agent pickup ILB Danny Trevathan, key players fell throughout the season and forced the Bears to try and be resourceful when they had no more resources. Add in Alshon Jeffery’s four-game suspension for a PED violation, and the Bears never stood a chance.

Did Melissa Jacobs just suggest that Jeremy Langford had talent?

      • MB30SD

hahaha… give the man a break!

      • BerwynBomber

Miller wasn’t any huge loss either. That guy Pace picked up off the street — Daniel Brown was it? — looked as good as Miller.

        • MB30SD

I dunno about as good, but he doesn’t hurt himself looking at a football field, so that’s a plus

        • Irish Sweetness

He didn’t drop passes though. That’s the #1 skill in a receiver for me.

      • Didn’t even bring up Cutler/Hoyer/Shaw inj, or that Freeman, our best defender, also had a 4 game suspension.

I hope this is the sale’s pitch the Bears use for FAs.

Brandt at NFL.com also was rather optimistic about the Bears.

        • MB30SD

“or that Freeman, our best defender, also had a 4 game suspension.”

I was going to mention this, but got too lazy. 100% tho

      • willbest

Langford getting injured was a blessing. Fox was a stubborn fuckwit about not playing Howard.

  • One Dump from Retirement (GP)

i texted MB a pic of an admin assist at my company who is 35 and i was knocking boots with for fun
she is 12 years younger than I and I felt a little weird about THAT. Butch is doing near underages in cars while twice their age? good grief.

People who don’t love golf don’t understand level of frustration that comes with golf tv coverage. It’s 40 years behind all other sports.

I HAVE frustration with golf coverage. I am frustrated that such a stupid sport is ON tv, because it’s not a sport, it’s a hobby. It’s a fucking pastime like croquet on the lawn of the idle rich in the Dowton Abbey era.

      jeeeees, oh jeeeees

they had Curling on TV tonight. It was AWESOME!!!

      • MB30SD

        Curling… Ice golf.

With less walking and an ideal beer drinking platform.

          • MB30SD

            but it’s MUCH more slippery.

    • BearDown100393

Actually, golf can be quite exciting.

TV is still waiting for Tiger Woods to resurrect his career.

Resurrect being the operative word because that career is dead and ain’t coming back.

      • BearDown100393

        As dead as Arnold Palmer.

        • Huge Bears Penis

there is always a chance for a Zombie uprising.

      • Johnnywad

Yes. The problem they have is that Tiger revolutionized the game. It was a game a pretty long list of fattish old white guys could win with regularity. He changed all of that. He was the most skilled while also being the most fit and athletic. He did things no one else could do on a golf course. Plus he had attitude and fire.
Now the PGA is full of guys like that. They’re just not the asshole he always was.
You have actual athletes playing the game now in bunches. I don’t think we’ll see another stretch of dominance like Tiger had again. He strengthened the base of the game too much for that to happen again.
