Clearly the Franchise Tag is an oppressive tool of the state, meant to divorce a man’s labor from the invisible hand of the free market, where his skills and abilities can be maximized for his own utility and the utility of his family.

The creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others. The smallest minority on earth is the individual. The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it. A desire presupposes the possibility of action to achieve it; action presupposes a goal which is worth achieving. It only stands to reason that where there’s sacrifice, there’s someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there’s service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

    Some actual Bears’ tweets today:

    Chicago Bears ✔ @ChicagoBears
Derrick Henry impressed in Day 1 of #NFLCombine workouts.

Didn’t they do this with Jeffrey before drafting him?

    • Bender McLugh

The pattern is there…. lose BMarsh then draft White, lose Matty then draft Henry.

      • MB30SD

        • TomC

Me too. In round 6 or later.

Seriously, if they let Forte walk then spend a high pick on an RB, I am going to blow a gasket.

          • Johnnywad

Not if they get the next Forte you won’t.

          • Irish Sweetness

We spent a two on Matty, why not? This dude is a freak.

          • Bobby Douglass

            He’s too tall.

  • willbest

If the Bears draft a QB before round 6 this year I am going Irish on Jeffery being tagged lose it. We have too many needs and nobody thinks there is a Peyton Manning in this draft.

    • Irish Sweetness

Even with nine picks we shouldn’t draft one. Makes zero sense.

  • Tagging Alshon is REALLY savvy. It’s practically better then signing him to a long term contract for a few reasons.

    1. This is a WR market. Alshon is clearly the best WR option in FA, so ball’s in his court. He would’ve got over inlfated market offers.

Now that he’s off the market, next year, he might not be the best WR hitting the market, which would decrease his cost.

    2. Obviously, he’s SOFT. Bears MUST wait-and-see if Alshon is the WR version of Arian Foster before investing mucho mula.

    3. The K-White x-factor. If K-white blows up like ODB, then again, Alshon’s cost theoretically goes down. If White is the man, then letting an oft injured, unmotivated/soft? overpriced WR walk doesn’t hurt as much.

    4. Alshon can still theoretically show K-white the NFL ropes. At the very least, he can show him good rib joints in chi-town.

    • The GP, Chairman of the Bored

      Charmin.

    • SC Dave

And if White is nothing, they tag him again?

      • nah, we’ll see if White is any good by mid-season, me thinks, or late season.

If White underwhelms, then signing Alshon will happen. In other words, he’ll get paid.

In some ways, White’s performance might determine Alshon’s future.

        • Bender McLugh

          Agreed

        • SC Dave

Agreed. But I think Alshon will be a monster this season. So he gets paid huge regardless. I don’t agree with all the soft shit. WHY destroy yourself on a rookie contract?

Show just enough to whet appetites.

          • MB30SD

Nahhhh, if he would have blown it up last year he’d already be sitting on a signed huge deal. Do you doubt that for a second?!

Dude’s lazy and soft maings. It was a contract year and he had a pulled jammy or groin or whatever for like 2 months. Soft.

        • Irish Sweetness

Mayock thought he was the best receiver in the draft, how could he not be good?

    • Bobby Douglass

      Hmmmm, ribs.

  • BillW

While I don’t doubt it will happen, I see nothing on this except from ESPN. Which could simply be “guess and check” journalism.

Say it first – and if you’re proven wrong – blame your anonymous source. No one will remember anyway.

However if he is tagged, it’s just a logical step in the negotiations. I think the Bears have until July to sign him to a long term deal. So no hurry on their part. There was no way they were going to let him determine his own value through free agency.

  • AlbertInTucson

CBS Radio is also saying the Bears have tagged Jeffrey but I see nothing about it on NFL.com as of 6:05 EST.

    • Trac

      “Unleash the Kraken” threat?

  • Ouch, literally. Jaylon Smith might miss ‘at least’ 2016 season. Could have dreaded nerve damage to go with acl/mcl.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/02/26/report-teams-think-jaylon-smith-will-miss-2016-season/

If that’s true, he might be a 3rd rounder, if that. Some teams might take him off the board entirely from the first 3 rounds.

Then again, could be smokescreen from some teams who covet him. Ah, telanovela combine. stay tuned.

    • SC Dave

Didnt, and wont read it. The other possibility is click bait tripe non story

  • chitownproud85

Brought back an effective receiver with a history of injury on a 1 year contract. Works for me. Free Agency please.

  • “alshon only played in 9 games, but was 7th in rec yds per game’ – NFL net.

    So, doesn’t this solve itself?

Pay him whatever he’s worth per game.

In other words, pay him top 10 WR money for every game he plays, and give him vet min for every game he misses.

I’m no math major, but that would roughly be $800,000 per game.

    http://overthecap.com/position/wide-receiver/

So, if he plays 16 games, that’s $12.8M a year plus whatever bonuses he earns.

If he only plays 9 games again, then he gets $6m per yr (esp since he’ll likely be hobbling in the games he is in).

    Done and done.

    • willbest

Well since the rules say he gets paid $14.5 million on the tag guaranteed even if he tears his ACL in camp, he would have zero incentive to sign that deal. Plus, NFL contracts aren’t fully guaranteed.

It might be different if say Jeffery made $70 million guaranteed, except for injury. Meaning that if he isn’t medically cleared to play, he doesn’t make that $875,000 that week. But if they just bench him even if he sucks, they have to pay him anyway

      • chitownproud85

If he tears his ACL in camp this year, he wont be getting some ridiculous deal this time next year anyway. It will cement his “injury prone” status and make him a massive risk. The franchise tag will look like a brilliant move and we’ll all be discussing what Kevin White was/wasnt this year. They couldnt let him walk, but hes waaaaaaay too much of a risk to throw him anything other than a single bone. I’d love to see what he can do with a full season. Heres hoping we find out this year.

        • CanadaBear

“I’d love to see what he can do with a full season.” Didn’t you see 2013 and 2014?

          • SC Dave

          • MB30SD

oh dave… come on now. Keep it positive!

He’s got a lot to prove after last year maings. In a contract year? It was brutal.

          • willbest

He produced when he played. Except the 1 game he was clearly being used as a decoy. The problem is last year wasn’t his only year dealing with chronic injury. He also struggled to stay on the field his rookie season too, and he played through a lot of reported issues in 13 and 14. Nobody wants to give him 3 years of guaranteed money if he is only going to show up for 30 of the 48 games.

          • MB30SD

That’s my point will, no one’s questioning his ability… well, I’m not at least. I just think he’s soft and there’s no way we’ll get our money’s worth if he gets paaaaid.

          • Irish Sweetness

He was 8th in the NFL with 89 YPG, but averaged about 6 catches per game, and less than a TD every two games. Looks like #2 production.

For a little comparison with a guy who is outide the top 6 receivers salary wise, Brandon Marshall had over 1500 yards, 14 TDs and 94 YPG, which is what he does every year.

          • Bobby Douglass

            Now, that’s just…. hindsight?

          • He also kills the locker room in year 2.
Why else would 3 separate teams give up on production like that?

      • SC Dave

That latter scenario is a license to the franchise to fuck him by instructing the doctors to declare him medically inineligible. Like benching the guy in game 16 who has an incentive for 1200 yards and was at 1198

I would not have expected that behavior from the Bears.

        Until now.

Not a value judgment, merely an observation.

        • willbest

Well you would have your own doctor.

          • SC Dave

Wouldn’t it be the team doctors that decide?

          • willbest

Obviously not if your contract were structured that way. Or maybe he would get an initial say which there would be a timely appeals process for.

As the clock continues to tick on Adam Schefter’s reputation gamble .. I’m looking back at NBs’s terms.

I propose a fair bet is if he stays with the team, A wins. If he ends up somewhere else, B wins. Or tagged and traded no bet?

    What say ye?

If … IF …. AJ is a Bear this year … what happens if LaQuon Treadwell is there at 11?
Do we say no to the top WR in the draft (bearing in mind AJ may walk at the end of the season for one reason or another?). Keep the vet around to school the kids for a year or two?

Looking at the mocks, players who may be there at 11 (ignoring QBs) :

Ezekiel Elliot? Unlikely we draft a RB with our first pick given Langford/Carey/Perry, and Henry is the more interesting pick in round two anyway (he may go in one).

    Vernon Hargeaves III : a 5’11 sub-200 CB? Nah.

    Noah Spence : A 254 lb drug-taking DE? Pass.

Myles Jack: they’ll probably pass on him.

Jarran Reed DT : Can’t see it.

    Jaylon Smith : risk reward.

    A’Shawn Robinson : Manchild? Maybe.

Shaq Lawson DE : Length might be the knock on him. Bears pass.

    Mackenzie Alexander : a 5’10 195 CB? Nope.

Reggie Ragland: The top ILB. I hope they pull the trigger on this dude in the Home of the Mike.

LaQuon Treadwell : it’s a passing league, but the Broncos won the Super Bowl. Did Demaryius or Emmanuel win that super bowl? Where will the Broncos be putting their money this off-season? Where will we put it?

Ogbah/Nkemdiche : ends with not much length in the first? Nah.

Based on need, and the fact that you’re getting the top player at his position in the draft, I hope we grab Ragland.

What say ye? Who do you hope we draft?

Definitely want to see us get Henry in round 2. We have small backs. Mitch Unrein at FB, Henry in at HB, Tayo in as an extra tackle/TE is boner-inducing. Third downs become Christmas morning.

    • Trac

Nay on the WR, Nay I say. You don’t blow up your draft board with a move like that.

      • AlbertInTucson

Has he not SEEN the talent deficiency on the Bear defense?

        • Irish Sweetness

It was just a question to judge blog temperature.

We may find ourselves with only Royal and White at WR. Contrary to people prematurely ejaculating based on some ‘reporter’ saying that a ‘team source’ says the Bears are going to tag Jeffrey .. they may decide that if he won’t agree to a fair deal that they don’t want to pay him top tier money. He is not a top tier receiver, and he injured every part of his anatomy last year.

So would you not add the best WR in the draft if he leaves? We would then have arguably the best receivers from two consecutive drafts.

Why do we have to draft defense in the first round if you sign say, Danny and Malik? You could still draft defense 2nd 3rd and 4th in that case.

Imagine Alshon walks. We could have two of the (future) best receivers in the league in the cheap part of their career.

          • CanadaBear

“We could have two of the (future) best receivers in the league in the cheap part of their career”. Or two top draft picks that both suck moose wang.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

just ask Detroit how good 1st round WR can be.

          • CanadaBear

            Ed Zachary!

    • Big Mike

1st pick has to be on defense. Alshon must stay.

      • Irish Sweetness

        And if he doesn’t?

        • Big Mike

Then the Bears are worse off, and next year will suck. Skill players in the first round are always a crap shoot. At 11 I want a bad ass. A nasty ILB, OLB, etc.

          • Irish Sweetness

I want the same thing, but the question was (meant to be) if Alshon walks, do you not take the best WR?

          • Nope. Name one WR that dominated the playoffs in recent memory, yet alone two.

Closest I can think of is Fitz from Cards, but hopefully White will be that guy.

      • or a good OT should Ronnie Stanley fall into their laps.

  • MB30SD

Yep, no way you take a wr in 1 irish. If white pans out it’s gluttony at the price of our turrible D.

If alshon walks next year you fix it then.

    1, 2, and 3 are all about D baby.

1 – you take the best ILB or DL available

2 – you take the best DL or ILB avaliable

    3 – best DB available

…of course a lot of this will be shaped by who what we get in FA.

I am Shae McClellin’s engorged clitoris

    • Bender McLugh

      lol

    • Big Mike

Must keep Alshon. Otherwise you have to find another guy. This comes at the expense of the defense. Wouldn’t care if bears didn’t add one offensive player. It would be nice to find a right guard, but loading up entirely on defense would suit me just fine.

      • Irish Sweetness

Can we not load up on defense without using the first pick on defense?
Don’t get me wrong, I want to see them draft Ragland and give us a shot at being strong at Mike again, but we can buy defense and still draft it in the other rounds.

      • MB30SD

        Agree mike

    • Irish Sweetness

      1. But that’s the question, do you take Ragland … or the 3rd best DE/DT?

    • Irish Sweetness

You wouldn’t sign Trevathan, or make a move? I’d draft Ragland and still make a move on a vet ILB. You need two studs and a backup. Timu is the backup.

      • MB30SD

I’ve been on the travathan wagon since day 1. We 100% sign him the first hr fa opens, same with Malik nor someone equivalent. And maybe a Demarco Ryan to vet min… you see who’s there @ 11 and you take the better guy. If that’s the #1 ilb or the 2-3 dl, I’m good with that.

        Just don’t get fucking cute

        • Word.
Demarco Ryan is available? He’s made of china, but worth vet min.

However, typically when teams double up on one position like that in FA, they no longer see it as a priority in the draft.

But that’s ok cuz we still need another S, CB or even pass rusher to go along with Dline.

    • Trac

Not too shabby. This is going to be a year where the Bears are prolly gonna have 2 or 3 guys still on the board that they really want at the 11 spot. It’s gonna be a great draft imo.

      • MB30SD

        hope so my maings.

  • AlbertInTucson

I find no confirmation that Jeffrey HAS, in fact been TAGGED at this time. Bears trying to get a long- term deal done before the deadline and likely WILL tag him if necessary but that’s not the same as reporting that “He Has Been Tagged”.Kind of hoping JPP’s lawsuit puts Schefter behind the 8-ball.

    • Irish Sweetness

I like it either way. He gets tagged, we have a look at him for a year and see what’s up with his body. He walks, we go hog wild signing dudes on defense, pick up some solid vet receivers.
      Win win.

  • Big Mike

It is good to have talent on your roster. It is bad to let talent (unless they are complete club house cancers/PR nightmares) go and create another position of need. This was the right call. Getting a long term deal in place is the better call. The end

    • Irish Sweetness

What was the right call Mike?

      • Big Mike

        Tagging Alshon.

        • Irish Sweetness

Alshon isn’t tagged. Nobody has been tagged. You said this was the right call.

          • Big Mike

While it is not been confirmed by the Bears. Schefler is a go to reporter. He wouldn’t put it out there if he didn’t have a reliable source. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14852299/chicago-bears-place-franchise-tag-receiver-alshon-jeffery

          • Irish Sweetness

There it is. You broke the news!

          • Trac

To be fair BM, the Bears could just as easily be trying to apply pressure to get AJ to sign a deal. It’s possible.

          • Big Mike

I think that is the likely scenario. Bears wrap Alshon up with a longer term deal. Seems like hammering home the tag early would only antagonize negotiations.

          • Johnnywad

I called it before Schefter. I’m like Aaron Lemming, only better.

All dicking around aside. Tagging him makes the most sense. He thinks he’s worth a shitload and may well be. Nobody really knows. So tag him and hope that next year’s shows us all one way or the other. I don’t imagine the Bears will mind paying him top tier money if he can prove he’s worth it. Expensive isn’t bad unless the value isn’t there.

I’m also sure he’ll survive a Franchise Tag year making $14M. So he gets another “prove it” year. He gets another bite at the apple. What’s wrong with that?

          • MB30SD

exactly. fuck giving him a long deal. Prove you can stay on the field and be a leader first.

It’s called EARNING it… kids these days (and get the fuck off my lawn!)

          • Irish Sweetness

Nothing, but Schefter is jumping the gun.

But seriously, can anyone here step up and say he’s JJ, BM, Dez, Odell, Antonio, CJ-level ?

      • I kinda agree, maybe this (?) at the end of the title.

Schefter however is the most reliable “insider” unlike those other lackies.
Glazer is prolly 2nd, Mort 3rd, but Schefty’s never been wrong that I can recall. Those other guys have.

  • Bobby Douglass

Usually I like to read y’all’s thoughts. Please let the Bears decide what’s best for the Bears in regard to Alshon, and just let… it… go.

    Word.

  • Jack Conklin at RT, anyone?

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/jack-conklin?id=2555279

Fits the white oline steretype. Maybe not athletic enough to play LT (though obviously he believes other wise), but he makes up for it with grit and a mauler mentality.

Pairing him up with Long on that right side would be nasty.

I still want D, but protecting Cutty and running it down their throats eating up time also is a form of defense.

    • “That is a dude, right there. He was busting up Ohio State in the fourth quarter of that game not because he was more talented than those guys but because he just wanted it more. He’s tougher than old beef jerky. He fits in our division.” — NFC North scout

      • Trac

Can we also have one that is more talented? Just sayin…

        • If he were more talented, he’d be #1 overall to the Titans.

6’6 325 and a mean mofo who did play LT.

That’s a good foundation for a RT. But he ideally we could trade back and land him, though I doubt it.

Mayock ranks him 3rd best OT overall. Drafting that at #11 wouldn’t bother me, esp if there’s a run on D before us.

You don’t like old beef jerky?

          • Trac

I just get skeptical when a scout uses subjective language when plugging a prospect.

          • lol. yeah, scouts NEVER use subjective language. They usually sound like this.

          • Trac

For instance, how can you say the guy isn’t better than the competition out of one side of his mouth and then say he dominated them in the next sentence. What does that mean?

Has anyone looked into that? Who could we draft if we traded down from 11?

    • Irish Sweetness

If he’s there in the third, sure. Blocking for DH who we just drafted the round before, Kyle slides over to LT. Tayo in at RG. Unrein at FB. Yessir.

Hey butch, here’s an Emery dark horse I’d think about taking in the 2nd round.

    http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2613634-2016-nfl-draft-dark-horse-candidates-to-rise-into-the-first-round/page/5

    • Wouldn’t mind him, in the 4rth…

SEA has weird drafting. They use their own metrics that sometimes works, and sometimes doesn’t, but they do love to take chances, so I can buy them taking the project on.

But we’re way too talent deficient for any projects in the first 3 rounds.

    • DaMurph

      Players not projects!

      • MB30SD

        No. More. Projects!!!!

        Right Murph!?!?

        • Trac

I don’t know, butch is jonesin for RT in the 1st or 2nd round though. Smh

          • DaMurph

A tackle is great, just NO project!!

          • Jack Conklin is NOT a project. He’s actually really polished. NFL ready. Plug in play.

C’mon, with a name like Jack Conklin, how could the bears NOT draft him?
That’s a perfect Bear name, straight from the Yukon.

          • MB30SD

sounds like a new Bourne character

          • or that.
Also, how could you not mention my new avi!?

Tsk. Tsk. Where’s GP when you need him…

          • Irish Sweetness

Well, peaches, looks like we caught a live one!

          • Irish Sweetness

I like what I saw of him. He’ll go high though.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

i think i remember hearing the same thing about Bostic

          • DaMurph

They were talking about LaRaven Clark. I like Conklin, a mauler with a lot of heart A real player!! Perfect name for a Bear jersey too, Ill order one right away!

          • Irish Sweetness

            Kyle’s going to LT.

      • Trac

You’re easier to tease than my wife Murph. Haha.

        • DaMurph

          HMmmphh

    • Irish Sweetness

You can have him in the third, Trac. Henry’s pencilled in for the second, my friend.

And did you see the WR times yesterday? Slowest EVER. About halfway through I guessed they were seeding them .. expected slow dudes run first … nah, they were just dog-link.

Derrick Henry was faster than most WRs. He WILL be a Chicago Bear.

      • Trac

It’s gonna be ok Irish, Phil Emery is no longer our GM.

    • willbest

Cutler is cheap the next 3 years and will be affordable the next 5 years.

    • Irish Sweetness

Well, we need him for the Super bowl in 2018, and then the repeat …. I’m good with 3?

  • MB30SD

    funny story…

So, I’m at Targeee this morning buying new spring cloths for the kids ($635 later, smh), and I hear this woman with an SA accent. So I make some remark about SA and we start talking (her and her mom and nephew). and blah blah blah, are you married? Looking? She says I would love to intro you to my daughter… some mumbling under breath and eye rolls later by her and moms and I get they don’t love the daughter’s current bf. So we shoot the shit about the old country a bit more and she says, send me a text with a picture and I am going to see if I can get my daughter to text you anyway. hahahaha

That’s not the good part. During our talk she asks me if I surf. I say yes, since I was a kid. She asks if I know who Shaun Tomson is. I’m like, uhhh, of course! Old Skool surf royalty!! AND south african AND Jewish… anyway, she goes, that’s my brother and her son (pointing to the mom), and this is his son (her nephew).

I was like, holy shit! The tomson family! Amazing. For those of you who don’t know: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaun_Tomson

    Awesome random encounter.

    • MB30SD

rabbit, stop voting shit up and go to Best Buy RIGHT NOW!!!!

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

        Hahaha

      • DaMurph

So the daughter, she meet your standards?

        • Doubt. But marrying into SA jewish surfing royalty, to hard to pass up

          • MB30SD

            marrying… whoaaaaaaaa there nelly!

          • Trac

            Hahahahaha

          • It’s your jewish duty, it’s in the torah, or seinfeld, I forget which.

          • MB30SD

This is why shady always calls me a bad jew

          • Not following the torah, meh. Not watching seinfeld, unforgivable.

            Preferring shiksas…

          • Irish Sweetness

            I was not expecting that.

            A man at 13, eh?

            Dude…. I was born a -.

            {IRISH!}

            Sorry.

          • MB30SD

I will not share my get out of jail free card with you when trac’s apocalypse comes.

            Fucking phillistine

          • Trac

Jess, and when you finally knock on the door I’ll say this….. Hahaha.

            Hahaha.

meeeeeeeeehhhhh… 6.5 to 7 from the terrible shots her mom showed me. Beautiful eyes at least. If the body is there (i.e., not fat, big tits, etc…) we might bump it to an 8 based on her last name alone… as ’85 mentions.

          • Irish Sweetness

            ‘Beauty is only skin deep’.

            Discuss.

Wait, you wanna get in on this bet?

          • MB30SD

Beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder

    • Trac

I ate across the room from George Kennedy in a restaurant once.

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Kennedy

      • Irish Sweetness

I sat directly in front of Ted Kennedy at football game. Boston v Army, I think.

GP has the tie-breaker though. Sitting beside Jim McMahon a train. (swoon)

        • Trac

Yeah MB, eat your heart out pal.

        • DaMurph

Oh Hell, I sat next to Jim McMahon at Ohare as he ate a McDonalds cheeseburger. Just me and him. I spoke, he grunted. I sat across from Big Cat at Ohare, I spoke he spoke. I stood next to Otis Wilson at Great America…..I said Mommas boy Otis…..he laughed.

    • Irish Sweetness

Sounds like ‘Surfwise’ is a documentary you must have seen, or should see. A Jewish doctor made the same pact with all of his kids (he had a bunch), you can go to school, or you can drive around America in a van, surfing. Interesting guy. He went around the world having sex with women and rating them in various categories in his notebook. He married the high sore and made the Partridge family. Funnily enough, a lot of the kids feel they missed out by not going to school and having a ‘normal life. Fuck that.

      • MB30SD

Fuck that shit indeed. Schooling in the us is a scam and a joke.

As soon as I have some scratch in my pocket and don’t have to put in 70-80 work weeks, imma take my kids traveling around the world… which will be so much more worthwhile/valuable/paradigm-shifting for them than all of their traditional linear schooling combined.

        • Shady

You know our friends Doc and Data are both educators.

          • MB30SD

jes. I’m more talking about some of the younger years, not so much the mind-stuffing brilliance going on in our colleges and universities shady.

        • Trac

I can’t wait until the affordable college act is passed. I wonder if all the faculty will have to spend 70% of their school year filling out govt. forms just to get paid 10 cents on the dollar. My wife works in oncology, it’s insane what they have to do now.

          #freecollege4evraone!

          • MB30SD

There’s always the Belarus my maings, or the DRC.

I hear the health care over there is to die for… literally. Hahaha

          • Trac

Hahaha. True story, the Dr. my wife works for just cut out a specific kind of treatment for his patients because of the costly govt. mandated regs. that had been placed on the testing and maintenance of the equipment used for treating the patients. Screw ups on the maint. logs? Yup, jail time. That’s how it’s done.

  • MB30SD
    • Johnnywad

      Hahahahahahahaha!

“I don’t have any issues, any character flaws….”

Anybody that says the words “I don’t have any character flaws” out loud, is an asshole. That’s a character flaw.

He can still be on the team though. I’ll let it slide this time.

      • willbest

Bad interview jujitsu. The way to do it is to list a strength as a flaw. like “If there is anything wrong with me I commit too much of myself to mental, physical, and spiritual health. I don’t have time to party, get drunk, and or sleep with random women because I am too busy in the weight room, reading play books, preparing for bible study while getting a solid 8.5 hours of sleep a night.”

        • A good one is, “My flaw? I suppose I’m TOO much of a perfectionist. Sometimes I’m such a workaholic that my family complains. Also, my penis is so big that sometimes it touches the toilet bowl when I’m taking a dump.”

Or, you can go with the Rick Flair response.

          • MB30SD

I just go with your second one. And I don’t feel like I’m embellishing.

Next time you go take a piss in a bar or restaurant or something, go to a urinal next to some dude, unzip, then pause and jump a little and loudly exclaim, “DAMN that water’s cold!”

          • Irish Sweetness

Unzip, and knock the urinal with your knuckles.

          • MB30SD

            I like that one

          • SC Dave

Ric flair was one of a kind to be sure.

            Woooooo

        • Irish Sweetness

A good one for job interviews on that question is “I work too hard.”

  • That Guy

Irish, I will wait for official confirmation from Da Site or the league before I demand payment. Still, might as well start sharpening that virtual pencil.

    • Irish Sweetness

      It has been mused upon.
But a tag-and-trade move should either be on my side, or a no-bet. In that scenario Alshon leaves.

      What say ye?

      • That Guy

The rules of the bet were quite clear. However, I will allow you to go double or nothing. If Alshon is traded, we are even. If Alshon remains a Bear in 2016, whether under contract or the franchise tag, you must write the previously agreed upon 500 words explaining why America is the greatest country in the world, and…

An additional 500 words in support of Ted Cruz for president.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Good god, GP, NO one can carry that off.

  • willbest

Clinton’s minority firewall holds. She will roflstomp her way to the nomination. Plot thickens on the GOP side. As Trump pulls closer and closer… wait its Mittens looking to broker the convention or third party run. Go long on popcorn, August to November is going to be amazing.

    • AlbertInTucson

Even when Sanders “won” in NH, she still gained delagtes. She has all the “Super Delegates” in her pocket. The primaries are a joke.

      • willbest

Dems put them in to prevent a Jimmy Carter from ever happening again. But that isn’t the reason for Sanders downfall. You can’t win the DNC nomination anymore without winning a majority of the minority votes, and he has no real appeal among minorities.

        • Trac

And he’s not a coffee drinker.

        • even though he’s the candidate who’s been fighting for minority rights for 5+ decades. what a world…

          • Trac

While pissing on the working class stiffs while they carried the water. Nay I say, politicians haven’t done shit to save this country. I digress, it’s back to our regular programming we must go. He he.

          • have anything to back that up, or just some trumpian accusations and moving right along?

          • Trac

            Parasites my man, parasites.

          • Indeed. But he’s been true to his positions and approach for 50 years. Refreshing compared to those who just say what they need to say to get elected.

          • Trac

But Bernie ‘ s policies will enslave this country into levels not seen before. Every dollar the govt spends has unpayable debt attached to it. That’s the hypocrisy of his policies.

          • i can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic. are you being sarcastic?

          • Trac

WHO Cares What I think? I hate debt. That’s pretty much my argument. Anything that causes a nation to work more for less pay is a form of bondage. Like Thatcher once said, “the problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money”. She was right.

          • buddy. I care what you think. and his socialism isn’t full blown socialism, contrary to what righty pundits say. he’s not pushing for venezuela.

          • Trac
          • Yes. I’ve seen similar arguments. And Bernard himself has openly said the middle class would be taxed. But there’s this:

“A few things become clear when looking at these numbers. One is that the middle class is not looking at very large tax increases at all, and what taxes they do spend would in many cases be more than compensated for in the form of free healthcare. But the top 5% of earners would be in for very large tax increases, indeed.” (http://fortune.com/2016/02/17/bernie-sanders-taxes-2/)

So while they’d pay more in taxes, they’d be saving overall.

          • Doc Nitty

            Fuck em all.

            The systems broken.

          • Instead, they’d rather vote for this.

Day 3 of Alshon being tagged. Wonder when the Tribune and every other outlet catches up with Jeff?

    • willbest

Probably Tuesday when he actually gets tagged.

      • BillW

If Jeff wrote a political blog he’d have a picture of Hillary saying “Nominated”

Even if something is inevitable, it isn’t fact until it happens.

Jeffrey will (likely) be tagged. He isn’t now and certainly wasn’t last Friday.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

come on Bill, this has nothing to do with being franchise tagged, Jeff is playing a game of ‘it’ over the interwebs. Jeff “tagged” AJ, so now he is it. Alshon is just being slow and lazy and he hasn’t tagged anyone else yet.

      • BillW

You are probably right. Never thought of that.

      • Johnnywad

Tag is fuckin hard with a strained hammy

  • Will Nkemdiche fall to the 2nd? Might be a good value, but have to weigh against the “culture” POX are trying to build.

    • Irish Sweetness

Tough one. He’s the right size ….. but is his brain?

  • The GP, Chairman of the Bored

Based on my awesome posting of hot boobies, I should score at least a 670

    • willbest

that is terrifying. I am sure FB has an internal score btw.

      • MB30SD

you just lost 100 points comrade.

        • willbest

False! I am not on facebook. At least not until the Dems make it mandatory.

edit: I suppose that isn’t fair. The GOP are shills for the Chamber of Commerce, they probably want my profile too so they can figure out how to sell me stuff. I suppose whoever makes it mandatory could come from either side, but given Zuck’s proclivities to be a complete tool of the Dems, that seems more likely.

    • MB30SD

Hmmm, wonder what mine would be… negative 304?

  • Irish Sweetness

What?! Charles Tapper is a 6’3 270lb DE. He ran a 4.59, when the average WR ran a 4.56.

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-charles-tapper-has-top-40-time-among-dl-20160228-story.html

So our man Henry ran faster than the average WR.

    • Johnnywad

That would make him the second fastest back on the Bears roster by a wide margin. Langford ran a 4.40 to Henry’s 4.52.

    • Henry doesn’t really look explosive. He’s a train once he gets going, but it takes him a while to get going.
      He’s no Eric Dickierson

      • Irish Sweetness

True. But our man Henry is 25 pounds heavier. Travelling at that speed that’s quite a bit of extra momentum. Wouldn’t you like to see him in a Bear’s uni?

        • He’s going in the top 3 rounds.

Henry is essentially a 2 down back since he can’t really catch.

Also, I’m always a lil skeptical about HBs that big because by the time they get going, there’s like 3 guys there.

Very few big backs like that have short area burst. Off the top of my head, AP, Dickerson and Bo were some of the exceptions, but they were athletic freaks, and I don’t think Henry is at that level (and Henry is bigger too).

I wonder how Henry will fare in the NFL, but there’s a reason HBs tend to be very compact with thunder thighs. Explosion.

My point. If the Bears are looking to grab a young QB and hope he’ll take over the starting role, take one at 11 and start him this year.

    Say what now ?
