Just musing over what a win would mean today. Oh I know the situation……. But 0-3 versus 1-2 with a W AT Seattle. Why that’s a horse of a different color altogether.

    • MB30SD

Navy blue and burnt orange my man

    • messile

i wonder…can you tell me what it’s like to be completely insane, because you thinking the bears have a shot to beat the seachickens is completely NUTS

      • last year’s 0-3 bucs beat the steelers in pittsburgh with mike “world-beater” glennon under center. crazier things have happened, barb.

        • messile

crazier things have happened. but us beating seattle? that ain’t happening.

        • MB30SD

Hahahaha… you fucking crack me up ev. You ever come out this way… if so, I will most assuredly buy you a beverage sir

          • Was supposed to be out there next weekend for a wedding, but with the baby due Oct 13th I can’t very well be across the country. Just in case.

Kid’s not even here yet and he’s already ruining plans.

    • willbest

A win by the Bears today would almost assure Seattle misses the playoffs. 0-3 is basically impossible to come back from. That in and of itself would be glorious.

  • beninnorcal

In your prayers, remember those Bears.

    Lets go, Bears.

  • beninnorcal

Probably not going to be pretty, nor will the rest of the season, but still glad to watch football. Beats sitting around in the offseason wondering about seasons past and future.

  • MB30SD

Speaking of blowouts, did you guy see the fucking Utah Oregon score?!? Holy shit!

    • beninnorcal

I have a good friend who’s a die-hard Duck fan. I couldn’t even give him shit via text on account of how bad they looked. I have morals.

      • MB30SD

hahahaha, I didn’t see any of the game, was just looking over the scores and went, holy shit!

  • BearDown100393

Dear Russell. God wants you to lose this game. That is all.

    • messile

if god wanted him to lose this game he wouldn’t have given him the bears as his opponent. goddamn this team depresses me

      • beninnorcal

        This is true, unfortunately.

  • Viva

    Should we tank…?:

Winning consistently in this league requires (more than anything else) a remarkably talented QB. If there is a remarkably talented QB in the upcoming draft, why not lose now to increase your chances to win on a consistent basis later?

We all know what the Colts did. I would not be at all surprised if the Pats do the same thing a year or two from now.

I think I am pro tank. Notwithstanding the inherent risk (injury, draft timing {dude you target may come out after 3 years ….or may not}, or another team may also be tanking better than you), a great QB increases your chances to win by a significant margin (data, numbers please). Put it this way, how many times has Tom Brady or P. Manning missed the playoffs in their careers?

Let’s suck for this year’s Luck (sloth for Goff).

    Lose now…win a lot later.

    • beninnorcal

Is there a remarkably talented QB in said draft?
I vote no on tanking. Go down, but do so fighting. See if some of the young bloods have what Papa Bear referred to as ‘the old zipparoo’

      • Viva

I don’t know if that QB is in this draft…and trust me I am all about going down with a fight….but if winning is what we want than why not do what is necessary to consistently win?

        • That’s what I said last year. We won one more game then the Jets, they got Leonard William, we got IR Kevin White.
How does that victory feel now?

But as others have said, we might not have to ‘tank’ since we suck naturally.

However, I wouldn’t play Cutler until he’s a 110%, and even then, “you look like you need another week Cutty.”

          • T’Challa

While I understand the theory of tanking, I think it sets bad precedent. You teach your young guys not to value winning in the short term. Since the average tenure of a player is less than 3 years, a team’s turnover is pretty high. Also there are no guarantees in the draft. Washington is feeling the effects of giving up a ton of picks on a guy who the thought was the 2nd coming of Cam Newton.

          • CanadaBear

I thought we were bad enough last year to get a good player. We seem to always be one spot away from the best picks.

          • Johnnywad

White may be great. Don’t know yet.

    • BerwynBomber

But the unanimous #1 guys — the Andrew Lucks, Peyton Mannings, and John Elways — only come around once a decade if that. Otherwise, if you look at the HOF or borderline HOF guys from this era (Brady, Rodgers, Brees and R-berger), two of those guys (Brady and Brees) could have been drafted by any team in the league, and of the other two, one could have been had by about twenty teams (Rodgers) and the other by about ten (R-berger). In other words, you hardly need the first pick in the league to get your franchise QB.

But here is the thing. We. Need. To. Draft. A. QB. Even if it is a second or third round guy. It is time. Look at the Patriots. They have the franchise guy that many consider the best ever in Brady, yet since he has been their starter they have spent picks on Garappollo, Mallet and Cassel, etc. Why? Because I presume they are employing the Ron Wolf strategy of drafting QBs, which is basically you keep spinning the wheel (draft one every year or every other year) until you find the right guy. Or to put it another way, the position is so valuable in today’s NFL that if you have five washouts picks before that one hit, the one hit will justify the five washouts.

Why Pace didn’t draft a QB this past year, I don’t know. Guess he didn’t like what he saw. One could also argue that D was such a gaping need but then he spent his first pick on a WR.

      • Waffle

haha, stop saying Luck is elite….please. Please watch him play. He is a guy on a team that loses 50% of it’s games outside of their shitty division.

        TEAM GAME.

If a hall of fame quarterback played on a team with a GM that missed on the draft for 11 years they would be a perennial .500 team.

        • BerwynBomber

You could be right about Luck. I’m basing the elite thing off last year. But this year he is obviously trending in the wrong direction.

        • Irish Sweetness

Yeah, I was buying the hype too, based on not much. He’s not playing Elite.

      • messile

why didn’t pace draft a QB? because he’s a moron, that’s why. he spends our 1st round pick this year on a bust of a WR (kevin white is already having me think of him as david terrell 2.0) instead of trying to draft a guy like leonard williams or vic beasley, doesn’t do anything for the O-line forcing kyle long to shift to RT without any reps there, burns a 6th round draft pick on a UDFA, and signs a bunch of free agent rejects who have done jack squat (pernell talks a lot but does nothing, antrel rolle is a step or 10 too slow, and eddie royal is useless, unless he’s injured, which is becoming a habit with him). everything about ryan pace screams jerry angelo 2.0/phil emery 2.0.

        • Irish Sweetness

How is Kevin White a bust? We need a good WR, and he’s it.

          • messile

how do you know he’s a good WR? he doesn’t even know how to run routes. and now he’s hurt. the only thing kevin white was bringing to us was his athleticism. is he even going to have that now?

      • T’Challa

The main issue that I had with Pace’s 1st draft, as I said before, was drafting Langford in the 4th rd when Hundley was still on the board while already having 4 capable RBs on the roster.

    • messile

not just tank, but get a bunch of draft picks. teams will want players like willie young or matt forte. so extract some picks for them, tank, then rebuild through the draft. that’s what we have to do anyway, so we might as well get to it. if teams want losers like shea or christian jones or ratliff or fuller, they can have them too for picks. everything should be up for sale for this bears squad.

    • Trac

Russell Wilson would be run of the mill on almost any other roster. This years Seahawks minus Kam is a reminder of that.

      • BerwynBomber

Wilson is bordering on elite. His efficiency ratings his first few years in the league are pretty darn high. Also look at the “talent” they have surrounded him with in terms of receivers.

Yes, he plays on a D talented team and that helps his W-L record but so have guys like Flacco and, in the past, Cutler. And neither has ever been as efficient a QB as Wilson.

        • Trac

Just my opine-yun my brudda from anudda mudda.

    • Irish Sweetness

Not on purpose, but if we go 3-13 it helps us next season. Losing one more game last season gets us Williams (I think). People remember Lombardis, not what you did two seasons before.

  • MB30SD

    congrats gents!

For the first time since I’ve been here we actually have a seattle troll on the board. Hahahahaha

Ladies and gents, earl bennett: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv2tLAi2jNg

    • CanadaBear

      A fave!

      • MB30SD

Love that hit canada. Wish early was still in the league

        • CanadaBear

Not exactly sure what happened to Earl. I thought he was going to be a possession receiver for the Bears for 10 years.

          • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

Me too. He got his sternum crushed on a hit one game and was never the same again.

          • CanadaBear

Fucking cheap shot from the Saints during their bounty period.

          • Johnnywad

His brother passed away and Earl’s interest in football went with it. Very sad all around.

          • Yeah, that’s what I read, and I believe it. Sux. He was money over the middle. Fearless.

    • SC Dave

I love the idiocy of the announcing… “you’ve got to kick it outside the numbers” even as the end zone replay shows Hester fielding the ball outside the numbers.

      • CanadaBear

I always laughed at the genius announcers that always seemed to have an answer to stop Devin. Of course, they were always wrong but they just kept right on expounding.

  • BerwynBomber

DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog “Can’t think of anything less American than NFL not allowing Leonard Fournette to become a millionaire whenever he wants. Should be illegal.”

Agreed. But the federal courts already protected the NFL and their free farm system during the Maurice Clarrett case. Can’t see that changing anytime soon.

    • willbest

Its cute that you don’t think the NFL would be more than happy to destroy the NCAA and develop a minor league system that would dominate Friday and Saturday to go along with the Sunday, Monday, and Thursday programming. Basically what you have is a negotiated truce.

      • BerwynBomber

And it’s cute you are so condescending on here.

The NFL is more than happy not having to pay 19 and 20 year olds, and opening the draft to freshman or even HS players would hardly kill college football. The NFL was not rooting for Clarett to win his case.

        • MB30SD

          Have to agree.

Willbest and pissed off, get some manners boys. Some of the regs don’t love each other, but we’re rarely dbags to each other. If you’re going to stick around, don’t be a dick. Pretty simple easy unspoken rule.

          • Trac

I up voted will by mistake. Hee hee.

          • willbest

You can click it again and it goes away. No skin off my bones

          • Trac

I was being fac-e-tis with my man MB. I agree with you.

          • BerwynBomber

Oh, it’s fine. Merely one patronizing moment. We can all be guilty of that from time to time. But yes, I agree with your general sentiment.

          • DaMurph

Rarely, but it do happen! MB for the Blog Nobel PP! Promoting peace and good will amongst Da Fans

          • SC Dave

            I second that nomination.

  • CanadaBear

Living on the West Coast of Canada (and relatively close to Seattle), there are a few guys that have been giving me grief over this game. I hate the SeaSquawks and their loud-ass fans but I have no answer for them this week. Oh well, seeing them blow the SB was a cathartic experience!

    • BerwynBomber

Last year’s post-season was strange. Kinda had BAL choking their game against NE, definitely had the Cheese gagging theirs at SE, and definitely had SEA gagging the SB. Then there was also the controversial non PI call in DET/DAL and the Dez Bryant non-catch at Lambeau.

    • SC Dave

The game ain’t over yet, Canada. Bear down!

  • Trac

Well whatta ya know? It’s Funday!!!

  • MB30SD
    • Trac

Loviez gonna be 2-1 come Monday my man. What are you gonna do about it? Hahahaha

      • MB30SD

        Who they playin?

        • Trac

          Texans.

  • Gonna find out if Vikes are a WC team today. Chargers are a good test.

    • willbest

The NFC looks pretty barren this year. It won’t take much to be a WC team. Then again Sept. Has been looking pretty unsightly since the latest CBA, and there is a lot of football left to play.

  • AlbertInTucson

    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog

    5. Put a few dollars on Bears +14.5. Why? Because you will probably be alive in the fourth quarter! (I think.)

So, you can wait until the 4th quarter to see your bet go down the toidy?

My money’s on Seahawks -14.5 and parlay that with over 43.

    • Trac

Bears will shock the world today. Guaranteed!

      • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

I was going to say “Unfortunately, losing by less than double digits would suffice to shock the world.”

But I’m trying to think positive thoughts on Gameday, so I’ll not say that.

  • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

Love the Pearl Jam design, Jefe!

    Yesterday was a weird day.

5 AM small dog pisses on Dads bed.
7 AM middle son breaks moms antique bowl.
11 AM middle son spills dads soda on dads favorite chair.
1 PM Dad spills bucket of water all over the damn place.
5 PM small dog cuts ear in half, spends night in ER. Now has Three ears.
7 PM Dad shells out $700 for small three eared dog who had just pissed on his bed.

Why do I mention this? For your pity? On the contrary. You see yesterday we were a sliver away from a full moon. Today is the full moon, A red moon at that. My household is not as attuned to nature as say, a bear. So the weirdness happened to me a day early. But I sense strange things afoot today. All bets are off gentlemen.

Bears 24 Seahawks 22 in a turnover laden game defined by its weirdness.

    • CanadaBear

Holy Crap, what a day! I’ve gotta admit, this is the most compelling argument I’ve heard for a Bears win today!!!!!!!!

    • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

The weirdness already started. Fire on the field before the Rams game began.

    • SC Dave

      Woohoo!!! We’re winning.

    • Irish Sweetness

Classic. Red moon doom for the Hawks?

  • Trac

It’s very interesting that the best WR in football hasn’t scored a TD while his team is being clobbered by the iggles.

  • willbest

Wow Jets… When you crash you crash hard. Home game against a struggling out of conference opponent… There aren’t very few gimme games in the NFL, but it doesn’t come much easier than that.

  • Trac

Mark Trestman is swiftly guiding the Ravens to an 0-3 start. The offense looks surprisingly similar to the 2014 Chicago Bears.

    Thank you, that is all.

    • willbest

I was simply amazed the Raven’s hired him. Then again Kromer got a job too. So apparently everybody believed it was Cutler and Marshall and not those two crack shots.

      • Kromer is a good Oline coach. His character is sorely lacking though

        • The GP

          he beat up a child

          • Tis true. He brought in Bushrod who when not inj is a serviceable LT.
Brought in Slauson who is also above age.
I’m sure he had input into drafting Long, and def Mills who for a 4rth rounder, not horrible.

Kromer def shored up that Oline, far more than Duh-man Tice

          • BearDown100393

And then bribed the family to keep quiet about it.

      • Trac

It was a shocker but I’m glad they did, just so I could get some personal questions answered.

    • Completely constipated.
And once that D lost Suggs, they became 14 Bears (though not quite as clueless on run D)

  • Bender McLugh

    Steve Smith Sr. still ballin

  • Cubsnlinux

Andrew Luck with 6 interceptions today. But may be he is elite because he didn’t throw them at the most opportune times. Right…?

    • Irish Sweetness

WTF?? Really? He’s up there with Peyton! Wow. I wonder if the media will Cuttify him?

  • Bender McLugh

Healthy Henry Melton, good to see. Fuck Tampa.

  • Ro-ro. Roth down. Backup QB bug going around. Is a McCown their backup?

Also STEVE SMITH IS A STUD! (Sr)

  • SC Dave

BTW, not watching, but Luke McCown is 19/20 for 145, 0 TD / 0 INT. Looks like Captain CheckDown is in the house.

  • haha, Dog Pound calling for Manziel.

That must inspire confidence for McCown.

  • BerwynBomber

MIN puts an FB in its line-up, goes to the power-I, starts feeding the ball to AP, and …. surprise … they began looking like a playoff contender.

    • Irish Sweetness

Man, that’s what I want the Bears to do. And they did!

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

so did afc south get better to start beating up on Indy or did Indy get bad enough that they cant beat up on the rest of the division.

    • FresnoBear

Luck is killing me in fantasy. First round bust

    • BerwynBomber

Luck’s on his way to an epically bad year but Colts brass did him no favors with their offseason moves.

TEN looks surprisingly frisky with Mariota at the helm.

      • Waffle

he just friskily may have lost them the game with that late pick.

        • BerwynBomber

          Rookie. Growing pains.

    • A lil of both, but huge mistake not upgrading that Oline for Colts.

They gambled Luck could overcome it. He can’t.

  • FresnoBear

    Derek Carr reppin that FresnoState.

  • BerwynBomber

PIT’s season might be over. R-berger carted off with left knee injury.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

      naw just a flesh wound

      • BerwynBomber

Ah, is that what it is? I just saw the “breaking news” flash on the booyah’s website.

        • willbest

Its pretty serious if they have already ruled him out for the game.

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, and R-berger is arguably the toughest QB in the game in terms of playing thru injuries.

    • willbest

I don’t know… Saint Louis put up 34 points on the Seattle D, and here the Steelers have them held to 3 points. They still have Bell, Williams, Brown, and they get Bryant back next week. Trade the Cowboys for Cassel, as Wheeden is looking alright.

  • willbest

I am going to laugh when Murray gets benched later in the season because Ryan Mathews is getting it done.

    • Trac

I love me some good football players but I hate prima donna’s.

  • The GP

    Stupid chargers

  • Trac

    Quick Fantasy Footnotes!
    1) I shouldda stuck with my gut and left Carr in my lineup instead of second guessing myself by putting Fitz back in yesterday.

    2) AP is more that making up the difference.

    3) Tyler Hilton, don’t fail me bro.

  • Bender McLugh

We interrupt this NFL broadcast with less than 2 minutes on the clock to bring you this Draft Kings commercial. Because we are contractually obligated.

    • SC Dave

Surprised it was not a 20 minute infomercial

  • BearDown100393

I hope David Fales remembered to bring his helmet.

    • Irish Sweetness

I don’t want him messing up his hair.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    was that a sack???

  • who was penalized for the delay of game in the first play? Pickles?

Tasting the various Octoberfest Beers — I like that Great Lakes stuff — any suggestions???
The Bears will win today — upset Central — Oakland wins — Falcons win — Dallas had a 14 point lead within the first six minutes…
Matt Forte will defeat the Seahawks all by his ownself…so there it is…

  • willbest

This thing where where Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald are top 5 QB & WR blows my mind.

    Didn’t know we kept Trestman.

  • They just pulled a Toub on us.

  • Carl LaFong

We will see the Fumblerooski today…

    • SC Dave

Maybe…. lets keep this to a fg

  • SC Dave

    Nice catch, douche

  • Jarvis Jenkins continuing to impress since PS.

  • Carl LaFong

    Sit down Jarvis.

  • DaMurph

No idea which way the punt is going? WTF

    • SC Dave

Our specials are horrible… the anti-Toub rules in Chicago

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    was that another sack???

    • SC Dave

No, but forcd a fg. Good job d!

  • Carl LaFong

This just in — Marshawn Lynch has a mouth guard – but still no helmet…

    • willbest

Yeah… This is going to be a brutal week for my fantasy team. Lynch a decoy active. Big Ben injury. Alshon out. Decker out. Jets D/ST imploding… and Kap taking Hyde out of the game with his two pick sixes in 5 minutes.

  • RenoBear

Hey impressive job so far.. If someone told me it’d be 3-0 with Bears havin two sacks ten minutes in, I’d take it

    • SC Dave

Especially givomg up a 60 yd punt return to their own 20

      • RenoBear

        Exactly

  • SC Dave

    I miss Devin Hester

  • SC Dave

    Fuck it… we’re winning.

    • SC Dave

Although you could try to be a little more convincing on that fake Matt

    • SC Dave

And you *could* tr yto get the friggin first down, Jimmy

  • BearDown100393

Josh Bellamy – excellent on punt coverage

  • SC Dave

    Woot!

  • Solid penetration by Jenkins again. Ball hanging on to dear life while the cavalry arrived.

We gotta convert a 3rd down though.

  • willbest

I don’t think I would have believed we would be down 3-0 at the end of 1. Seattle fans have to be worried.

    • That was the scenario I painted.
Keep it close. Let them get nervous. As long as it’s a one score game, ALL the pressure is on them. Maybe they make mistakes.

    • BearDown100393

About a dozen in that stadium know what is going on. The rest are bandwagon idiots.

  • Irish Sweetness

Damn, is Big Bn okay? He’s my QB on about 15 teams (Romo was on the others).

    • Looks like the knee. Don’t want to jinx, but looks like an ACL.

    • SC Dave

Who the fuck caers? Forte gashing the fucking chickens so far

  • 3rd and 1. Plz tell me they can convert.

  • Carl LaFong

“I’m impressed with the way the Bears are running the football today” — Darth Vader

      • Carl LaFong

        Gase is Vader…

  • Ducasse didn’t even get a finger on the dt

    • BearDown100393

At least he did not draw a penalty.

  • RenoBear

I love this shit. Seattle knows all we can do is run… And we are still moving the ball. And great discipline in defense. I love that we have professional coaches

    • Irish Sweetness

Best rushing team in the league man, that’s what we do.

    • SC Dave

So this on coaching. .. best staff in my life.

  • SC Dave

The way we look in general so far, we would be up 14-3 if Cutler were playing

    • Irish Sweetness

We might be passing it then, and down two ints like Kap.

      • MB30SD

  • Irish Sweetness

    Mebane out. Sweet.

  • Carl LaFong

Sounds like Bears getting some momentum in the broadcast booth…

  • Good thing they called the TO, Bushrod got driven into Pickles

  • Carl LaFong

  • BearDown100393

This officiating staff’s miscalls is brought to you today by FanDuel.

    • SC Dave

So this. Beat me to it. Seattle wins, fan duel pays out $20. Bear won? Probably several million

      • BearDown100393

Bingo. Some dude in Romania just burned down his entire village because of that miscall.

        • MB30SD

  • Bender McLugh

Fuck yeah D gettin it done.

  • Make-up call there. They still owe us about another 15

    • SC Dave

Why are the fucking refs trying to job us man?!?!?

    • SC Dave

  • Carl LaFong

You could get a conviction for murder on the video like that punt off the foot…

    • willbest

Aren’t these all reviewed in NY now? Vegas requires

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

they were reviewing the New England hacked satellite feed, instead of the broadcast feed.

        • Carl LaFong

          Lisbeth Salander works for Patriots…

  • MB30SD

hate when it hits you in the fucking hands bellamy.

    Catch that fucking ball dude.

  • Irish Sweetness

Not enough evidence to overturn the call? Like the laws of physics being contravened isn’t enough?

    • Bender McLugh

      Total bullshit call

  • Bender McLugh

Seattle is intimidated by this D. When is the last time we’ve seen that?

    • MB30SD

eeeeeeaaaasy tiger. let’s see the second half.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

my guess is that SEA has a hangover from losing the SB.

      • Bender McLugh

        Not 3 games in

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

yeah because they played so good in the first 2 games.

      • Irish Sweetness

        No Dan Quinn.

  • MB30SD

BTW, I really like phil sims as a commentator. I think he’s my fav actually.

  • Carl LaFong

Jack Lacan says Bear ball after punt..

  • Bender McLugh

In other news, Kid Poker knocks out Phil Helmuth in the main event World Series of Poker. Go Negraneu

    • Irish Sweetness

Phil is such a bitch. I can’t believe your cards were better than mine! I’m smarter than you!

  • MB30SD

    shit

  • DaMurph

Yeah, I knew they would find a way to make Graham happy.

  • DSupreme

I’m confused why Wilson hasn’t done this all game and go down the field… We have the worse secondary in the league

    • BearDown100393

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

    • Irish Sweetness

Debatable, we were 4th in fewest yards allowed through the air, but most TDs allowed (7).

    • willbest

      Also we were getting pressure

  • MB30SD

    shit, again

  • BearDown100393

Hey everyone, Alan Ball is on the field now…

    • Irish Sweetness

      TOUCHDOWN!

  • Irish Sweetness

    Rolle you tool …

  • MB30SD

    damn

  • MB30SD

  • BearDown100393

Lynch just one armed Ball to the ground.

  • RenoBear

    Wtf kinda defense was that??

    • Irish Sweetness

      The standing-around-at-a-BBQ-defense.

    • BearDown100393

      The Tucker Package

  • What kinda D was that? Are you kidding me? Did they think SEA had no TOs?

    WTF?

  • Irish Sweetness

At least it’ll still be a one score game .. or will it ? Just aim at Fuller.

  • BearDown100393

Moral victory rhetoric about to be typed.

  • Double Jimmy. Focus on Baldwin

  • Irish Sweetness

    Bring the house!

  • BearDown100393

    Alan Ball made a play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Irish Sweetness

    6’2 Alan Ball !!

  • Bender McLugh

    Ball?!?! Who?

  • SC Dave

    Pick 6 next time, cunts

  • DSupreme

    Ball two key stops!

  • Wow. They’re picking on Ball, and he’s denying them. Good job Ball

    • SC Dave

      Fuck yeah!

  • RenoBear

    Hahaha fuck you Pete

  • Irish Sweetness

Man, I would have been going after Fuller twice …

  • SC Dave

    Aw screw… blockfor td?

  • BearDown100393

    FanDuel just went bankrupt.

    • Irish Sweetness

Ed Norton is a shameless prostitute.

    • SC Dave

      We can only hope

  • Trac

If Cutler was playing we would have a comfortable lead…..until we didn’t.

  • Carl LaFong

Half time Pete Carroll can take off his cheerleader dress.

  • BerwynBomber

Nice couple of plays by Ball there. Don’t know what the hell Fangio was thinking with that Hail Mary D with :20 to go.

    • Irish Sweetness

He was comparing Fuller to Tiger Woods this week, and seems to think Tiger’s only been in the hole for two years.

  • Irish Sweetness

I see …. a Red Moon Rising … I see … trouble on the way … for the Hawks.

    COME ON !!!!!

  • It seems like both teams are sleep walking. I guess that’s a good thing since it takes the crowd out of it.

  • SC Dave

We need to get close enough for robbie to get us to 9-6

  • Kaep throwing 4 INTs, only 3rd Q. Damn

    • willbest

And he vultured Carlos Hyde’s TD. What a tool. His fantasy day is already shot, but no, he has to take all 9ers down with him.

      • haha. I aint complaining. I’m playing vs Hyde, though this blowout is gonna KAEP Palmer’s day (he’s my 2nd QB)

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

Kaepernick is a pick machine in their game 4 so far

    • willbest

I think him and Tannehill bet on who could throw more this week.

  • SC Dave

What’s crazy is for the first time in my life, i expect a *positive* adjustment. From our coaching staff!

    • willbest

      woah. Don’t go there.

    • BearDown100393

      Maybe next game.

  • BearDown100393

    That is a terrible shadow.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Lockett is unbelievable.

    • BearDown100393

      Ridiculous

    • SC Dave

Loclett is nothing. We are the anti- toub. Worst specials in nfl history

  • BerwynBomber

Who is our dead man walking ST coach again?

    • willbest

Would be nice if they fired him mid season at this point.

  • Kaep looks like a bad 70s porn star.
And his coach Telusa looks like every bad mob guy Seagal whoops on

  • I said Lockette would look like Hester in his prime. Someone said I was crazy.
I assure you, I am not.

    • Irish Sweetness

I remember you called it …

    • SC Dave

      Worst specials in nfl history

  • Trac

“We ought never do wrong when anybody is looking.”

    Mark Twain

  • willbest

On the whole QB thing. Tyrod Taylor could have been picked up off the street.

    • BerwynBomber

True but no one saw that. Plus, still early. Some guys looking good right now may come back to the norm. Other guys sucking may improve.

    • Irish Sweetness

Ducasse of course, touches NOBODY. Get him off NOW.

  • BearDown100393

    Lynch went home. Good riddance.

    • They don’t need him.
We are a PS game to them

      • SC Dave

Bullshit. They have 10 points on specials

        • Irish Sweetness

Yup, good teams will cream the seahawks.

          • willbest

Even bad teams like the Rams beat the seahawks.

      • willbest

Seattle is not a playoff team.

  • Irish Sweetness

Skittles out, but Christine is good, right?

  • BearDown100393

    Football in the dark. Awesome.

  • RenoBear

Yeah…. These shadows are fucking ridiculous

  • We’re only two TDs down, though with Pickles it feels like 34

    • BerwynBomber

Well in fairness, I would say Pickles AND the SEA D. They look mortal these days but they still look damn good in spots.

  • FourFeathers

The Bears have maybe 15 to 20 guys on the roster that shouldn’t even be in the NFL. It is bitterly depressing how bad the talent on this roster is.

    • Not sure any back-up QB won today, and we had the hardest game of them all.

      • FourFeathers

Not talking the QB. Sobering that we have probably THE worst roster in the NFL right now. How the hell did this happen? How does Ted Phillips still have a job. God Ryan Pace has so much work to do here.

        • Trac

Phil Emery went with pedigree over best player available and the Bears ended up with dog food.

      • willbest

        Does Vick count?

  • WP34

Should Robbie kick that through endzone, like Seattle’s kicker did. Or if he can’t kick that far, kick it out of bounds and give at 35. I think Robbie knows lockett is dangerous.

    • BearDown100393

Maybe after another kick is returned for a TD, he’ll start to get the idea.

      • WP34

Next is probably a punt returned

  • McPhee is alive.
You know, our D isn’t giving up

    • Johnnywad

This D is refreshing. I can’t wait to see this team play down the stretch.

  • BerwynBomber

Three sacks today? Btw, McPhee has looked worth the cash the last two weeks.

    • BerwynBomber

      Make that four.

    • FourFeathers

Seattle offensive line is bad for the third week in a row. They go nowhere with that offensive line.

  • BearDown100393

Wondering if McPhee is aware of how Houston hurt himself last season.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Nanny sighting.

    • Irish Sweetness

      TWICE!

  • Trac

Eddie Royal has 12 yards. Verrry depressing.

    • willbest

That is because he isn’t good.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

or it’s because we got Pickles as QB

      • Irish Sweetness

        Eddie’s okay.

  • DSupreme

    DAMN McPhee #Twice

  • RenoBear

    McPhee 2 in a row!!!

  • Tell you what, our D is getting hits on Wilson.

First time I ever heard, “Coverage was good.”

  • BearDown100393

Jared Allen was just mentioned for the first time in this game.

    • FourFeathers

He’s got nothing left in the tank and is a 4-3 DE trying to play a 3-4 at age 34. You can’t make this stuff up.

  • Ahhhh. N’Acho got a finger on it!

  • RenoBear

Tv cameras having a helluva time adjusting going from light to dark shadows . Fuck Seattle

  • We need some Langford.
    Ducasse with holding. Fuck

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

49ers are a mess just gave up a safety

    • willbest

I am really starting to think that Minnesota forgot the season started that first week. Confused some dates on the calendar, thought it was a PS game. something.

  • FourFeathers

Seattle just has to put 9 guys on the line because Clausen and the Bears have no hope of making things work in the passing game. Why wouldn’t Seattle just blitz the rest of the game?

    • willbest

      They don’t like to Blitz

    • BearDown100393

      Blitzing is tiring.

  • Irish Sweetness

Ducasse is still on the field? Didn’t I just bench that turd? Winning is hard enough to do without lemons like that on he field.

    TAYOOOO!

    • FourFeathers

      The options are worse.

  • BearDown100393

Must be hard to run an offense in total darkness and unable to hear.

  • RenoBear

C’mondont let the wheels fall off now guys… Hang in there. Still wish we’d have gotten that punt that was OURS

  • Irish Sweetness

    Calling David Fales.

    • Can’t look worse.

    • willbest

At this point save him and let him play against oakland.

    • FourFeathers

Why? What’s going to be different with this offensive line and set of wide receivers? Seriously no sense putting Fales in harm’s way against a top defense.

  • Trac

There is still a lot of time on the clock. Just sayin.

    • Irish Sweetness

For the Hawks to put up a 50 burger …and here comes Tayo …

  • Wilson was looking at the QB when the ball was snapped.
    The O is totally lost.

    • BerwynBomber

Why type of contract is Wilson on? I don’t see much in him to justify another year.

      • willbest

        league min rookie contract.

  • WP34

I understand not physically having talent, that was me as a player. If this the case to compete you mentality have to be superior.

For too long the Bears have been mentality inferior. It really pisses me off.

    • FourFeathers

WTF does that mean? Fact is Bears have a roster that is a joke. Upwards of 20 guys on the 53 who shouldn’t even be in the NFL. We are weak in all dimensions of the game and Ryan Pace and John Fox signed up for a multi-year rebuilding job.

      • WP34

It means what I said. Robbie kicking ball to Locket, delay of game penalties, etc…

I am proud of how the are playing today.

        • willbest

I wouldn’t go that far. Though they are doing some things right.

        • FourFeathers

Save the pyscho babble from your armchair. Fact is Robbie Gould sucks at kickoffs at this stage of his career. We are significantly outclassed in the talent game. “Mental toughness” ranks right up there with “half time adjustments” with meatball fans.

          • WP34

            Dude, you got a problem.

          • WP34

Kick ball out of bounds. I wish we were in the same room. Keyboard tough guy.

          • WP34

HA, Meatball. Where did u play big mouth

  • Do we have 3 1st downs in the game?

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

pretty sure we have 5 or six

    • BearDown100393

      7 apparently

  • Irish Sweetness

Still … bad TO no-call … long KO return … no Cutty … we’re not bad.

    • willbest

I would bet we get another top 10 pick this year.

      • FourFeathers

This version of the Bears wins 3 games max in 2015. Probably good enough for no worse than a top 3 pick in the 2016 draft.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed, All three of these losses can be rationalized.

  • FourFeathers

And now Seattle is starting to roll on both sides of the football…

  • SC Dave

Waiting for a couple more calls to make sure the spread gets covered for the mob.

  • Bears D has to be wearing down and demoralized

    • BerwynBomber

Welcome back to Bears football. Our D tries to carry the team. Missed that for a couple of years.

  • Johnnywad

Be nice if Allen didn’t run straight to the center of the line at some point

  • picking up someone from the pile is now a flag, dickwads

  • RenoBear

No wonder jimmy graham was bitching… They have him in blocking… When he CAN’T. He’s terrible

  • RenoBear

No wonder jimmy graham was bitching… They have him in blocking… When he CAN’T

  • Irish Sweetness

I heard Dallas D was good … Freeman ran for 141 yards and 3 TDs.

    • FourFeathers

Pretty clear to me that Green Bay is the definite best team in the NFC right now.

      • willbest

If our ST wasn’t … sub par… Seattle would be struggling against a back up QB at home. Meaning the Packers haven’t played anybody yet.

        • FourFeathers

I still think based on what I have seen in the NFC so far that Green Bay is the CLEAR best team right now. Not making the Super Bowl will be a major disappointment.

          • willbest

I don’t know. Cardinals and Falcons offenses look every bit as legitimate as the Packers. And Packers don’t have a particularly stout defense.

          • FourFeathers

Cardinals are impressive, but they rely on Carson Palmer to stay upright. I can’t buy into them because of that. The Falcons? I guess we shall see.

    • BerwynBomber

Nah, Sauce is a good DC but I don’t think DAL has much talent on their D.

  • WP34

    D playing hard

  • BearDown100393

    Graham just outmuscled…. everyone….

    • BerwynBomber

He’s like a super athletic Greg Olsen.

    • FourFeathers

      That’s why he is elite.

  • Why in dee FUCK is Vereen even on the field, much less covering Graham one-on-one?

    • FourFeathers

Because we have the most dreadful defensive backfield options in professional football, that’s why.

  • Irish Sweetness

Why is Brock Vereen on the field?

    • FourFeathers

Look at our defensive backfield depth chart. Other than “maybe” Adrian Amos and “maybe” at some point Kyle Fuller, the options all suck. Badly.

      • Irish Sweetness

        But it’s Rolle/Amos …

        • FourFeathers

Look, we have a lot of roster weakness. Brock Vereen on the field is further indictment of that. Rolle is completely washed up. Fuller has been an unmitigated disaster. Ball is just a guy. And so too are the other names.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Is Acho replacing Allen?

  • BearDown100393

Why is Brock Vereen still on this team?

  • DSupreme

The question now is if we will even score today…

  • Pissed Off

Doesn’t matter who is on the field this team is terrible in all phases

  • DSupreme

If Clausen doesn’t make you appreciate Cutty, I question if you’re even a fan of the Bears

    • willbest

Having a memory longer than 1 season makes me appreciate cutler. That still doesn’t mean he is going to win a SB. But at least they look respectable if the rest of the team isn’t awful.

      • DSupreme

He probably will never win a Super Bowl, but the slander of Cutty goes to far on here and different media outlets. Imagine 16 games of fucking Clausen!

        • Johnnywad

Clausen might well be playing his last game as a Bear. He’s awful. Hopefully Cutty can go in Oakland.

          • willbest

If not, David Fales should go.

          • BearDown100393

            to the arena football league

          • Johnnywad

Fales blows too. Team’s fucked without Cutler.

          • BerwynBomber

Let’s see him first. Many thought we were fucked when McCown took the reins a couple of years ago.

          • Johnnywad

            A good point.

          • FourFeathers

Cutler can’t overcome a dreadful overall roster. He can’t.

          • FourFeathers

Clausen isn’t why we are getting blown out. He’s not good, but there are many more reasons why we are losing. We are bad. We have a very bad roster. Clausen is a backup QB and 9 out of 10 backup QBs aren’t really good. Complaining about Clausen is like complaining about a rust spot on the Titanic has it is taking a vertical dive into the North Atlantic.

          • Johnnywad

I disagree. The defense is playing better than it has since 2013. The D line is decent and will get better upon Ray’s return.

They would look even better today were Cutler moving the offense allowing them to rest and limit the Seahawks plays.

          • FourFeathers

With Cutler in this game we still get our nuts handed to us. Obviously Cutler is a massive and credible improvement over Clausen. But we are losing because we have a dreadful roster and are one of the two or three worst teams in the NFL in terms of talent.

        • BearDown100393

Yes because the only options the Bears will ever have at quarterback are Cutler and Clausen. They are Lestat and Louie.

  • BerwynBomber

In so many words Simms just said we should not try to win the game but keep it close.

  • Forte looked like he got bent backwards.

    • BearDown100393

      Mildly knoxed.

      • SC Dave

        In the neck

  • BearDown100393

    Matt Forte limping.

  • SC Dave

Fox is officially a pussy… we lose by 40 now

    • There’s a reason I call him Albino Lovie

    • BearDown100393

      But Phil approved the punt…

    • FourFeathers

And the meatballs are out in full force. Throwing John Fox under the bus because he can’t make gold out of the worst roster options in the NFL in year 1 of his Chicago tenure. Brilliant stuff.

      • SC Dave

Fuck off, troll. Show up once in a while and someone might take you seriously.

        • FourFeathers

Sure Dave. Because we all find you credible competent commentator on the present state of the Bears. This being an anonymous blog and you and a 4 pound bag of potato chips in your lap and all.

          • SC Dave

You are a little cunt that shows up to troll now and then whose opinion no one respects or thinks twice about. Other than to say “what a pathetic litte worm” .

And with this, your thrill in mommas basement over someone responding (i almost said caring, but thats a bit much) is done from this quarter

If you can understand what that meanss

          • FourFeathers

Dave, Dave, Dave. If only you were running the Bears. And not the assistant TO the manager at Chuckie Cheese.

  • They need to put in Langford. Mix it up. And take shots longer than 3 yds.

  • Well, at least Acho is in. See if he’s only a PS illusion.

  • BearDown100393

Seattle “fans” are bored and quiet. Must not like watching the cat toy with a mouse.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Richie Richersons.

  • BearDown100393

    I hate Jon Park.

  • BearDown100393

Jimmy Graham needs to invite Aaron Rodgers for a few flights.

  • RenoBear

Painful watching Clsusen after one quarter. That’s about the extent of his excitement and ‘mojo’. I hope we see Fsles next week just for the hell of it. To be honest, I didn’t think clausen was gonna make it out of this game (or maybe hoping)

    • FourFeathers

Honestly, what is Fales supposed to do? He’s not going to do anything better. We have two competent NFL offensive lineman in Slauson and Long. One competent NFL wide receiver in Royal. One competent TE in Bennett. And a vertiable shit show on defense and special teams.

  • Leno at LT, and Ducasse at RG.
Clausen might not survive this game.

    • BearDown100393

      Oh well

    • FourFeathers

Neither Leno or Ducasse are playing in the NFL if not in Chicago. That is sobering reality. We have a putrid roster.

      • Johnnywad

The roster is not as bad as you keep stating. The defense has given up just 16 points, despite zero offensive production and a 60+ yard punt return. That’s not nothing. The roster’s not great, but it isn’t bottom three. This team will string some wins together in the back half of the season.

        • FourFeathers

We shall disagree. Majorly so. Who in the NFC has a worse roster situation? I can’t name another team. Not Tampa Bay. Not Detroit. Not San Francisco.

          • Irish Sweetness

            And you will eat crow.

          • FourFeathers

What argument are you trying to have? That the Bears are good and the talent is ok? It isn’t. Ryan Pace and John Fox would agree with me. I’m sad about this. But I won’t be delusional in the spirit of unwavering fandom.

      • Irish Sweetness

No we don’t. Tayo is good and should be in there for Ducsse or Leno, our LT went down, our B went down, as well as our top two WRS. We’re going to kick somebody’s ass soon, mark my words.

        • FourFeathers

This is a 4 win max team in 2015.

          • WP34

PLEASE STOP WATCHING AND DONT COME HERE

  • willbest

The Bears are surprisingly the most competitive game of the late games.

  • The Punt Returner can walk to the stands, and the coverage team would follow him up

  • BearDown100393

Phil Simms double downs on punting the football.

    • He’s worried about the spread.

      • BearDown100393

He doesn’t want to bite down on the sidewalk curb with Ed Norton around.

  • Damn, N’Acho took that FB out!

  • Pissed Off

We can’t stop a running back no one knows who he is

    • BerwynBomber

      Undrafted FA. Impressive kid

      • He looks much more explosive than either Fred Jax or Lynch (when he was in).

        • BerwynBomber

Lynch may finally be slowing down. Punishing style of rushing to be doing for an extended period of time as he has.

          • That’s what it looked like to me vs the Pack.
He got paid. On a losing team. Oline avg at best.
            Bad mix.

          • FourFeathers

This is a game where Seattle has luxury to limit Lynch.

  • Decent coverage by Jones.

  • Wow. McManus came flying. Nice effort

  • That play might be the epitome of the 15 Bears.
    Close, but no cigar

    • BearDown100393

      Clowned.

  • Next time I see Fuller whip his head around in trail technique will be the first time I see it.

  • BerwynBomber

Simms is right about Rodgers beating SEA almost single-handedly last week. ARI and SEA are still the best/most complete teams in the NFC.

  • dbear

    How about those bears?

    • Irish Sweetness

Looking pretty fucking good when we get healthy sir.

      • FourFeathers

        Facepalm

  • dbear

    Another great year

  • Johnnywad

Bet Clausen just concussed himself again. Snapped that helmet back on the turf.

  • Irish Sweetness

That TO no-call would have given us a minimum of a FG. The Bears do not get shut out.

  • BerwynBomber

Ha! CBS still employs Mike Carey. I swear he was wrong nearly every time last year on reviews.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Vegas is on the reviews.

  • I wanna say bench the starters, but those guys need reps.
But at least put in Mitchell, Timu and Tayo if active

    • Irish Sweetness

Tayo is a LT, he might be in next week, which is a shame because I want to see him at RG. Or anyone else at RG.

      • FourFeathers

Tayo is not remotely ready to throw into NFL starting action. You don’t destroy a young man or compromise the health of other players on offense by throwing out there an extreme project in Tayo. Not now.

  • FourFeathers

Phil Simms…”a team in very significant transition.” In other words, Ryan Gase and John Fox are already thinking about who we take with our top 3 pick in 2016.

  • Irish Sweetness

If Cutty’s back next week we’ll have a great price to beat the Raiders. And we will.

  • haha. Fox should call a TO. He has 3.

  • Irish Sweetness

Fucking gatordade dump on the sideline? IN WEEK 3 !!!

    • SC Dave

Against the #32 ranked team in the league?

  • Trac

It seems the Bears 32nd ranking is spot on.

    • willbest

Rubbish. We are 0-3 against teams that 35-13 last year. One of whom went to the SB and another the NFCC. Two of those three are most certainly playoff bound this year. Meanwhile the Saints are 0-3 against teams that 15-32-1 last year. Only one of which who is likely going to the playoffs.

      • WP34

        Thanks for actual refreshing facts

      • MB30SD

        There ya go tiger!

      • Trac

With Cutler in there we are a much different team. With Clauson in there, 32nd is spot on.

  • Irish Sweetness

So be it. Baby steps. Raiders gonna get smacked if Cutty’s back.

    • Cubsnlinux

D was decent and didn’t embarrass themselves. Special teams was a dumpster fire and offense was concussed

  • Cubsnlinux

Great practice reps for O’Donnell. We are ready for Oakland. We get Ratliff and hopefully Cutler back this week.

  • SC Dave

By the way, an avian troll, whom i characterize as a cunt knowing full well the offensive nature of the term, has returned to the blog. Please dont feed it.

  • BerwynBomber

Let’s remember we got beat by the two best teams in the NFC (ARI #1/SEA #2) and a near perfect performance from the magician/wizard who resides in our division.

The OAK game will tell us much more about the ’15 Bears than the first three games, though if Cutty sits even it may be somewhat misleading.

    • SC Dave

I really believe that had Cutler played, we would have won. Despite the worst specialteams I’ve seen in my life.

      • MB30SD

Specials are fucking KILLING me this year. Jesus

      • BerwynBomber

I can’t go there with you. Cutty probably would have gotten us into low double-digits but not much more. SEA was hungry. D kept us in the game for a half.

        • SC Dave

Maybe BB, maybe. But I’m thinking we would have been up 14-3 anyway, at one point. And had the gamblers not threatened the family of the replay booth dude on that punt…

  • BerwynBomber

Game balls for McPhee, Ball and Forte. Was hoping we could get Uni a little more involved. But for the penalties, thought the O-line did a decent job while it was still a game.

    • BearDown100393

Alan Ball was the most improved player.

Jesus… for the new fucking guys…

Yeeeees, we all fucking know we’re rebuilding from ground zero from the top down. And we are going to have a rough year. 6 wins would be great, 8 would be a minor miracle. We are ALL well aware of these very obvious facts.

  • messile

for any cutler defenders out there, you know what the score would’ve been if we had cutler out there and alshon jeffrey? 26-0, seattle over chicago. and one of the scores seattle would’ve made would have been a pick thrown by cutler.

    • messile

and before anyone decides to heap praise on our garbage defense, remember that they only had a shot to do anything to seattle because the offense, horrific as it was, kept the ball on the field.

    • Big Mike

Do you have eyes? The Bears had a middle school offense.

      • messile

yeah, but the only reason the defense didn’t fall apart (even though they gave up 26 points, which is abysmal) was because it didn’t have the time to fall apart. the offense couldn’t score at all, but they kept the defense off the field, refusing to give it the time it needed to screw up.

    • Irish Sweetness

Write down a list of QBs who don’t throw picks. Cutler has never played better in his life than he did in 1.5 games this season.

  • Big Mike

First post of the day/night. Haven’t read anything posted. I saw a spirited defensive effort. I was proud of that unit. WTF can’t Gould kick the fn ball out of the end zone like every other kicker in the league. (my buddy said “lack of practice, because the Bears never score). Does any body still believe Cutler doesn’t improve this team. Very much am not a fan of Derek Jefferies. He could have grown a new leg by now. Long getting better at RT.

    Goodnight.

  • FourFeathers

The Bears have the worst roster situation in the entire NFL. But we are blessed with a good professional coaching staff. If Ryan Pace can draft then in 3 years we will be ok. But it’s going to be brutal for a couple of seasons. Wholesale talent upgrades just about everywhere are needed, and sobering also that Forte is getting old and will very unlikely be signed to a new contract.

    • messile

i don’t think we have good coaches. every week it’s something with some phase of the game. special teams is a tire fire. the offense looks good with cutler until he throws the inevitable game-killing pick. wasn’t gase supposed to fix that? the defense can’t do jack against a team with a half-way decent offensive line, and the secondary is also a tire fire. and ryan pace? i don’t trust that man’s ability to draft, and he’s given us no reason to think he drafts well. his 1st round pick this year hasn’t played a single snap for us yet, and won’t until next season at this rate. as for forte, we should’ve traded him. we need picks, and forte’s future isn’t with us.

      • FourFeathers

Good Lord. Seriously what is wrong with you? Your going to blame Adam Gase for the limitations of Jay Friggin Cutler, the guy who has chewed thru coordinators Ron Turner, Mike Martz, Mike Tice plus Marc Trestman?!? Cutler is what he has always been and at age 32 and 10 years in the league you really expected Gase to instantly fix Cutler? And the roster overall SUCKS so expecting Fox and company to make gold out of garbage instantly is a bit of a STRETCH, don’t you think.

        • messile

nothing’s wrong with me. i just refuse to give this terrible team the benefit of the doubt EVER AGAIN until they prove to me that they deserve it. and yeah i’m going to blame adam gase. everyone’s talking about how he’s improved cutler in so many ways by limiting him, but he hasn’t fixed the picks? sure that’s on jay, but it’s also on gase. and what did i keep hearing over the offseason, over and over and over? that now that we had professional coaches that we were going to win anywhere from 7-10 games. i kept hearing it from one meathead after the other, and a lot of those meatheads were people paid to cover the team. as if professional coaching makes up for the complete lack of talent this team has. so if everyone keeps saying it, then i expect to see that on the field. if the coaches are supposed to be such a big deal, they should be able to do SOMETHING, right?

          • Irish Sweetness

You’ll see us kick the Raiders asses back to the west coast next week if Cutty starts. We’ve had the toughest start to the season that anyone has had, opponent-wise.

          • BearDown100393

And if he doesn’t start, who should?

          • FourFeathers

I don’t see us beating Oakland. And I don’t expect Cutler back for that game either. I think we go 0-6 to start the season and get to 3-13 overall.

          • FourFeathers

I can’t fix idiocy. Therefore won’t try. Comical beyond belief that you thought Pace, Fox, Gase and Fangio were going to come in here, sprinkle pixie dust on an awful roster and win a lot of football games in Year 1. Or turn Cutler into something nobody in 9 years previous was able to do…and in TWO games of sample size no less.

      • Irish Sweetness

Jesus Christ, he threw two picks in two games, one of which was on Bennett!
Did you watch the games? Cutty played great, he’s literally a different player! Kap throws 4 picks and the media won’t say a word.

Double Jesus Christ, Pace doesn’t draft well?? How do you know? That looks like a great draft to me. You may well see Tayo at LT next week, and I bet he’s great. I like all of our picks, and we’ve yet to benefit from Kevin White – how is his injury anything to do with Pace?? Langford looks great. Amos is starting and playing out of his skin (Fox said he’d have been happy drafting him in the second). Grasu is our future center. Goldman is already our starting nose. This is one of the best drafts since ’83.

        • messile

how do i know he doesn’t draft well? how do YOU know he does? kevin white was already a project WR when we drafted him, and now he’s hurt. HURT. is this going to be a thing like it was with alshon? you don’t know, and neither do i. langford looks fine except that they rarely run him. if he’s so good, run him out there. and amos doesn’t look good. the best you can say about him is that he hasn’t done anything horrible yet, so i’m waiting to see if he turns into something decent. we might see tayo next week? says WHO? he needs a LOT of work. and the same goes for grasu. neither tayo nor grasu have done AN-Y-THING. saying that this is one of the best drafts for the bears since ’83 is crazy dude. you have nothing to base that statement on.

          • Irish Sweetness

            (sigh)

If Kevin White wasn’t injured, all of his picks in that draft would see the field every week. Tayo will be in there next week guaranteed.

Amos doesn’t look good? Sorry bud, you don’t know what you’re looking at.

          • Irish Sweetness

Name a better draft from the nineties onwards. If Bushrod is concussed/injured, and Tayo starts, then 3 of the 6 draftees will be starters, and White is a starter if healthy.
4 out of 6 of a draft class starting the year that they were drafted. Who does that?

          • FourFeathers

Facepalm. Starting out of sheer necessity because the roster is rotten and injuries have hit hard on top of that is hardly a rationale to already assess the 2015 draft class. Might want to adjust the pipe cleaners on your tin foil beanie or drink a pot of black coffee.

          • EnderWiggin

            Future winners. That’s who!

          Don’t feed the trolls, compadre.

      • Irish Sweetness

And saying John Fox or Vic Fangio aren’t good coaches does not bode well for you. Proven at the job.

    • BerwynBomber

Yeah, my sense from the way they’re riding Forte is they plan to let him walk at the end of the year.

      • FourFeathers

Forte is a 30 year old 8 year high mileage veteran. We can’t change anything about that as we stare into the jaws of a very significant building job that won’t happen overnight.

    • Irish Sweetness

      This is crazy.

      1. We were leading rushers per carry coming in to this game.

      2. Our QB (Cutty) has finally learned a thing or two about his play.

      3. We have some guys on the D roster who are probably better than some of the starters (happy to see Nanny McPhee show up though) … and Acho may play Allen off the starting lineup. Terry Williams, Ify and Jonathan Anderson are sitting on the PS. That’s good to have.

      4. Our 1st round pick is out, but behind AJ I like Meredith and Bellamy, Royal is a pro, and Ify Omodu might be something.

      5. We were hanging in there with GB and Arizona, two of the best teams in the NFL, until Cutty went down.

      6. Nobody has a better roster of RBs than us. Probably.

      Our ST clearly sucks though.

      • FourFeathers

You get an A for enthusiasm…as well as delusionment and/or drunkenness.

        • messile

i’m definitely more of a bears fan than you. i won’t delude myself into thinking this is a halfway decent team when it’s actually pure garbage. at least if you know the team is bad and where it’s bad, you can begin the process of getting better. homer fans like you who act like this is a 6-7 win team are the real problems, because that kind of mentality prevents you from fixing things.

          • EnderWiggin

Hmmm, I’ve been reading this board for years(and years). Questioning Irish’s fandom is one way to lose everyone’s respect around here.

          • Irish Sweetness

#1 I’m no homer. And I never mentioned being a 6 or 7 win team (which we most certainly will be given the relatively easy post-bye schedule). I’ve been berated on this blog in past years for being a Debbie Downer – when we were really bad. But we’re not that bad now – Jimmy Clausen is. And how you’re more of a Bears fan than me I don’t know how you know that. I’ve only been to one Bears game, but I live a long way away from America. I have however been following the Bears since the Eighties and used to listen to every game on AFN SW radio. A real fan supports their team no matter what their record is. Whining more than anyone else does not make you a good fan.

You never answered the question I put to you – namely your problem with any of the points I made about the roster. You just name-called.

We have lost three in a row, yes. But with a starting QB healthy, and everyone else healthy, we could actually look pretty good. Your total lack of perception won’t allow you to see that though. I called CD at middle linebacker three years ago.

      • SC Dave

        This!

  • Bears-4-Ever

I think our Defense did better than expected to be Honest, we held them to a field goal and kept their offensive points low until the second half then the D started to crumble and the wheels came off. But that’s what happens to Defenses when they are on the field for 90% of the game. Our offense couldn’t even get into field goal range for Gould…really? We knew up front Clausen sucked hairy ass…no surprise. Our Special Teams are worse.

Anyway, 0-3 and not looking good for my .500 hopes for a season. BUT if we can get Cutty back we have a good chance of getting points on the board. If not we don’t…that simple. Sad but simple.

It’s a building year no doubt, just a tougher one than we might have expected.

    • FourFeathers

3-13 sounds about right. On top of a terrible roster we also are being hit hard by injuries. Losing Bushrod is going to hurt an already troubled offensive line.

    • SC Dave

It is appalling how bad our specials are. First to worst.

  • Trac

Who is Jimmy Clauson? The same guy the Bears beat 23-6 about 5 years ago.
Pickles stats that day? 9/22 for 61 yards, 0 TD’s. Hmm.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

i did not know Manning could still throw the ball that far.

    • Irish Sweetness

He’s without question the most immobile QB int he league though, and if you breath on him he’ll slide forward. He has D Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders to pull down his jump balls and they fairly struggled to beat the Lions. Broncos won’t do shit this year. I hope.

  • Many think the Bears are the worst team, but I wanna throw two other contenders into the mix.
    The Aints.
    And the Fins.
Check out the comments for the Fins. Sounds eerily familiar to the 14 Bears

    • AlbertInTucson

      Point taken.

The Saints were reeling before Brees went lame.

Ravens fans have to scratching their heads, too.

      • AlbertInTucson

Lions sure didn’t think they’d be looking down the barrel of 0-3, either.

        • I knew the Lions would implode. They got extremely lucky last year.
I thought the Cowboys would regress too. It seems like those teams always have one good year, followed by implosions.

  • Scharfinator

My favorite part of the game today was that I skipped it and went hiking in Appalachia instead. Seeing the score, I am not disappointed.

    • It was actually close until the 3rd quarter

      • MB30SD

They HAVE to do something about our specials. I don’t even know who the coach is, but he sucks through 3 games.

        • BearDown100393

Josh Bellamy made a great play on ST. And that’s about it.

          • willbest

We also got screwed by the Zebra. And they did jump that muffed punt last week. Its like they can’t do a play average. Either they have to give up 40+ yards or stop them dead.

          • AlbertInTucson

Once again the adage proves too true: Bad teams get Bad Calls.

        • CanadaBear

Really weak talent on specials. The ST’s coach isn’t exactly a dynamo.

      • Scharfinator

From what I’ve read, it sounds like an old Ron Turner era game. The defense plays like junkyard dogs and keeps us in it and the offense just rolls over.

  • AlbertInTucson

Kudos for the effort by the defense.

    Sacking Russell Wilson.
    What a concept!

Unfortunately, sadly, they were hung out to dry by an offense that brings a knife to a gunfight.
    A pen knife at that.

    10 possessions – 10 punts.
Has kind of a ring to to it, don’t you think?

Those of us who didn’t know it was over before the OPENING kick-off KNEW it was over after the 2nd half kickoff.

Matt Forte trying to do a Johnny Knox impersonation. JUST what Bear fans need to see.

Since we already know how Clausen does it,.Isn’t it time to at least SEE how Fales fails?

  • The GP

    Think of it this way:

Add a healthy Ray McDonald, healthy Cutler, Jeffery and White to this team, and put Mason Foster in CD’s place – and you have a team that can probably hang in some games.

Sutton may have torn his biceps. Bushrod may have a concussion.

    • Trac

      Jay Cutler is our QB!!!

Pickles makes Orton look like a franchise QB.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

Pickles might make Tebow look like a franchise QB

        • BearDown100393

Lovie gave Winston an extra hug.

        • The GP

          1-11 as a NFL starter. Adam, take a hint…

      • Irish Sweetness

Wasn’t Orton a franchise QB? He started for the Bears and the Broncos …

      • AlbertInTucson

Let’s find out what Clausen makes Fales look like.

    • BearDown100393

Ray McDonald…. I dunno. Sort of like praising Manson for his music potential had he not been a homicidal maniac….

    • Irish Sweetness

Not all doom – Tayo played LT in college, and Now Terry Williams should get promoted from PS. i haven’t noticed Sutton, and that’s not a good thing when you’re a D-lineman. Swap Timu in for CD and we could look like a different team.

BTW – was Acho in for Allen? Has he skipped over him in the lineup now?

      • AlbertInTucson

        “Tayo played LT in college”

And Jimmy Clausen played QB in college.

  • BillW

    Backups generally play special teams.

Backups by definition are not as good as starters.

Many of our starters aren’t very good.

Therefore our special teams aren’t very good.

Just part of the pain of having to restock the roster.

The best part about winter weather is appreciating spring and summer. We will all enjoy the contending bears that much more in a few years.

  • AlbertInTucson

Jimmy Graham trying to block, at least I’m GUESSING that’s what he was trying to do, Pernell McPHee one on one was pretty entertaining.

  • AlbertInTucson

“5. Put a few dollars on Bears +14.5. Why? Because you will probably be alive in the fourth quarter! (I think.)”

I went down on my call on the Over, but your #5 was wrong on both counts, Blogfather.

  • Irish Sweetness

You’re all in bed now, aren’t you ?

(looks around empty blog bar, save for Jefe, lying unconscious on the pool table …)

    • TheBigCheesy

      I’m here for you, buddy

      • Irish Sweetness

Ah Cheesy, pull up a stool and I’l tell you some lies.

        (Jefe wakes up)

“We were 3-0 down before the half … did we cover the spread or what?”

    • AlbertInTucson

      Not quite.

    • WP34

Thinking of ways… to get to 13 and 3 …

  • AlbertInTucson

    “DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
If Robbie Gould can’t kick the ball out of bounds he shouldn’t be kicking off.”

So, you’re suggesting the already-talent-challenged Bears roster should carry a kick-off specialist?

He DID kick it 6 yards deep into the end zone. Seattle huddled before the kick and said “Hey, they game one up from 108 so bring that rock out no matter what.”

Or you’re saying just knock it out of bounds on the sidelines give it to them at the 40 on every kick-off?

  • EnderWiggin

Sac with 225 fantasy points… WTF?!

    • FresnoBear

Yea wtf is what I jus said

      • haha, He must be psyhic cuz no one knew that Steve Smith Sr, Devonte Freeman and the Card’s D would go bezerk like that.

        • Irish Sweetness

I have Big Ben on about 15 teams (Romo on the other 5!) and left Randle (DAL) on the bench everywhere, so I got creamed this week. Danny Woodhead. SMH. WTF was I thinking …

    • lol it happens. That’s why I created the 200 award!

      http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/trophylist?leagueId=835653&seasonId=2015

A lot of things have to go right though.

The avg is probably around 120
      Good week is like 150
Great week above that, but not too common, though Shady had some a few last season.

These things have a way of averaging out though

      • EnderWiggin

        Those are hilarious.

    • Irish Sweetness

Wow. Off to FanDuel with you Sac, those are Ed Norton numbers.

    • Trac

Nice impending 1st victory Ender. The fact that it will be at my expense is of no consequence to me. Well done Sir.

  • CanadaBear

The D was better than expected. The O was about what was expected and ST’s are a cruel joke. After going through the posts I see we have a couple of game day charmers in our midst. Just another reminder to stay off here until after the game. Also, I wish Robbie was kicking it out of the back of the end zone but blaming him for 105 and 108 yd KO returns seems a little short sighted. Both times the Bears never laid a hand on the returner. That’s not on Robbie.

  • CanadaBear

Just read that Happy Hank was the Bears QB the last time they got shutout. That was a long time ago but I still remember it to be a dreadful game. If I remember correctly it was against Tampa and it was the last game of the year.

    • Irish Sweetness

And to think there was no need for a shutout, what with that bullshit no-reversal challenge that would have given us the ball around the 20. Claws could have fallen over after the snap three times and we still would have had the FG.

  • Irish Sweetness

    It’s that time again ……
