MB has tresticles the size of a 3rd grader.

      Yep, seems to be working.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I got 3 out of 4 correct last week, and the Eagles almost pulled through for me, but the Saint’s D was tougher than expected.

This week, I predict Seahawks over Saints. Not sure how this goes really. ‘Hawks could blow them out, but their O also has a bad habit of totally stalling at the most unpredictable times. Still, Seachickens.

Pats over Colts. Man oh man, am I tempted to pick the dog here, but I just can’t envision such a depleted Colt’s O finding a way to thump Billichick. Also, the Colt’s D gave up 30+ points in one half alone, so it’s not as solid as I thought it would be. Difference is, Billichick is NOT Reid. They’ll make the proper half time adjustments to keep their foots on the throat.

9ers over Panthers. IMO, it would take a perfect game for the Panthers to beat the 9ers. Much like the Colts, the Panther’s O seems to lack weapons, and it would take a phenomenal Cam performance to will his team to victory. On the flip side, Kaep, Davis, Crabtree and CO will convert just enough 3rd downs, score just enough points to eek out a victory. 9ers seem to be peaking at the right time.

Broncos over Chargers. I really like how spunky the Chargers are, but the Broncos are just too powerful right now, and rested. I’m tempted to pick the dog here too because the Chargers almost beat them TWICE, and like I said last week, their D is under-rated. Nevertheless, Peyton doesn’t choke until next week against the Brady, per usual.

    • Shady

      You talkin’ SU or ATS?

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

        SU.

I think spreads are like rust insurance – just a way to steal your cash.

But let’s see, if I had to bet, according to Jeff’s spread.

SEA – 8. I don’t think I would bet the spread. Like I said, I’m not exactly sure how SEA comes out, but I don’t think they cover.

        NE -7. They should cover.

SF-CAR, Pick em. Have no idea what that means, but I think 9ers win by less than 7.

Den -10. That’s too much for my blood. I don’t think the Broncos beat the Chargers by 10 or more.

        • Irish Sweetness

I’m only having one bet this week. Took the Chargers +9.5. The chargers already trounced them in Denver so I don’t see what’s changed.

Luck has 6 INTs so far in 2 playoff games … is he still getting blown by the media, or does that just make him ‘plucky’?

  • Shady

This weekend and last weekend are some of the greatest days of the year in sports. I love it.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I know technically last week are the playoffs, but the 2nd week always feels like it’s more intense.

Teams tend to tighten up, power running and D. Love it.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

Looks like Defense is winning in this Offensive League.

  • Shady

Line ended up being SEA-9, Saints covered.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

It went up to -9? wow. I wouldn’t have done it on -8, much less -9.

    • Irish Sweetness

I thought the lines were all too close – only the SD spread stood out as a value bet. Most people would have made their sea-NO bet before it went to SEA -9. That FG miss was huge. Glad I didn’t get sucked into the Luck for HOF hype – he really shouldn’t be playing this week.

So if Brady joins Joe Cool on 5 rings …. do they continue to sex up Peyton Manning as the GOAT?

      • Shady

Hard to make that argument if Brady wins it this year, but some people will for sure.

  • Shady

Did anyone else think Percy Harvin damaged his brain today? Jebus.

    • AlbertInTucson

Once again, he just cannot stay on the field long enough to be a factor anymore.

Vikings should be doing CARTWHEELS getting a #1 for Percy “Hurt Again” Harvin.

      • Shady

        Ouch babe.

  • Shady

The NE punter saved his team 5 points there.

    • AlbertInTucson

Yes, problem was he was trying his best NOT to. He SHOULD have picked up the ball and takine it into the endzone and fallen on it for a safety to bgin with. he’s just LUCKY the ball rolled out of the back of the endzone before a Colt could fall on it.

Punter gets ZERO points for football smarts.

Like wise Dan Dierdorf (See above).

      • Shady

How about 2 blog points? They’re not worth much anyway.

        • Irish Sweetness

How do you cash them in? Do you get household items from Jeff’s gaff?

          • Shady

If so, I call dibs on his GF’s bongos.

  • AlbertInTucson

OK. Apparently it IS time for Dan Dierdorf to retire if he thinks that the New England Punter falling on the ball at his own 1 is better than taking a safety.

    That’s just IGNORANT.

Basically HAND the opponent a free TD?

A safety was the best possible outcome for the Patriots on that horrendous snap.

Maybe your Defense holds after the free kick or at least limits the Colts to a FG and if so, that’s STILL less than a gift 7.

    Have a nice retirement, Dan.

Oh, and a POX on Greg Gumbel for his tacit endorsement of what Dierdorf espoused. You’re allowed to disagree, Greg.

What the punter did was dumb and he lucked out of it.

What Dierdorf sugged was even dumber, especially coming from a former All-Pro with 20+ seasons of experience in the booth.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Intercepted. The prosecution rests.

    • IBNO

Dierdorf has been shitting into his Depends for years now. It might sound like words, but that’s just the continual shart leaking into his adult didey.

    • Irish Sweetness

Being the smartest guy on a football field is somewhat of a misnomer. It should be the ‘least dumb’.

  • IBNO

I tell ya, if it was Cutler making some of these throws Luck is making, he’d be getting crucified. Luck is getting a pass. Just because he’s Amish.

    • RenoBear

Hahaha +1 on the Amish reference. Very true about Cutler being crucified, it is ridiculous how some quarterbacks get such a pass from announcers if they are the ‘darlings’ of the nfl…

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Not to mention when Brady starts throwing his tantrums, I think “If Cutler did that, the Media would have a field day of how Cutler is a whiner”

      • Irish Sweetness

When Cutty has 4 rings he can start throwing strops ….

        • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

when the Bears have a Patriots quality org and consistency then rings will start piling up. We are now on the right track.
1985 looks like an anomaly in the context of modern day Bears lore.

    • tobijohn

Amish works but to me, Drew looks like he should be wearing a loincloth and painting pictures on cave walls. I’m sure he’s a great guy but doesn’t he have a mirror in his bathroom?

  • Shady

Wow, Blount is rolling tonight he’s really smoking these Colt defenders.

  • AlbertInTucson

Now THAT throw looked like a 2nd year QB trying to comeback from 2 TDs down in ONE play.

  • AlbertInTucson

4 across. 4 letters. Slang. Rhymes with “Luck”

    • Irish Sweetness

      SUCK?

  • AlbertInTucson

Coroner’s report on tonight’s Colts loss will read: “Blount Force Trauma”.

      • EnderWiggin

I was nervous when I seen the title to that vid. Took me a minute to realize the percussion-perspective. Phew!

  • Cutty Bader don’t give a fuck

Can we stop now? can we just fucking stop now?

  • Shady

By the way, Martellus Bennett’s brother Michael Bennett had a huge game for Seattle today. The D-Lineman is a FA this offseason.

    • Cutty Bader don’t give a fuck

I love Forte as much as the next guy but I would really love a young guy on the team to run angry and desperate like Beastmode. We need a guy that will sell out his life to get that yard. We’ve got a Ferrari and we need to compliment it with a GTO.

      • Irish Sweetness

Or we can sell our Ferrari for more than we bought it for …… always a smart thing to do …

        • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

sometimes its less about the money from selling it and more about the two chicks that blow you in it every sunday. Their names? Run and Catch

        • SC Dave

Oh gawd, he’s started on it again.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

Michael Bennett is a Pro Football Focus star for the last 3 years. Top 10 DE 3 years ago, Top 5 last year. Still no one of those genius GMs got him. Pete Caroll did. Got him for pennies for 1 year. They should have got him signed for a long contract instead of Avril. The Bears should target him. They should have done it one year ago.

  • Shady

Every time I see Chandler Jones rush the QB I wonder what could have been if not for that stop along Chicken Dinner Drive.

    • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

Rob Ninkovich was a 5th rd pick. Shea was somehow a 1st round pick. Brain about to explode.

  • Cutty Bader don’t give a fuck

Luck has mastered the 4 yard out to his TE.
    #gamebreaker

  • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

    Dierdorf. Stop defending.

    • AlbertInTucson

For sure. The first 3 picks were ALL Mr. Luck. The one to Havili was a poor throw, behind the receiver that hit the left shoulder pad when it should been leading him. SHADDAP, already, Danny Boy. Luck sucked tonight. Nothing you say at this point can change that.

  • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

“my bad, my bad, my bad, my bad”
That would get a little old.

  • BerwynBomber

Pats rushed for almost 240 and six TDs — impressive ground attack. Thought they were given a gift of a PI which led to their third TD but may not have meant much (long run) given Luck’s TOs and the aforementioned NE ground game. First game seemed over once Ingram fumbled and a few plays later Lynch reached the end zone to make it 13-0. Seattle took away Graham and the NO screen game, which really limits Brees as their wideouts are only average. Anyway, hopefully both games tomorrow are a bit more competitive. Best bet for that, of course, is Car/SF.

  • Trac

Kind of a ho hum day yesterday in the playoffs. I hope today’s matchups provide some better games.

  • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

Note to NFL rules committee: you can’t be as dumb as you look. The reason why the horsecollar tackle is dangerous is because of the defender leaving their feet and pulling the ballcarrier backwards ripping out their legs. Not because you grab the collar of the jersey you fucking cocksucking pieces of shit. How do you guys continue to draw salaries if you can’t realize something as simple as that.
Captain Munnerlyn pulled off a move that can end a guys career but he doesn’t get flagged because he didn’t put his hand on the collar of the jersey?? fucking lunacy.

    • IBNO

Not to mention it’s not considered a horsecollar if you pull the collar of the JERSEY. Only if you get the pads.

Unless you’re Charles Tillman, then you get flagged for just LOOKING like you grabbed any part of the shoulder pads.

  • IBNO

My latent hatred for the 49ers makes me want to root for Carolina, but Carolina is acting like a bunch of pissy whinypants (“boo hoo! No one respects us! We’re tough. Look how tough we are–we jaw after plays!”).

In the end, I want whoever wins this game to win next week. Fuck Pete Carroll.

    • gpldan

      +1 on the Carroll haterz

  • DaMurph

The officiating of this game is TERRIBLE!!!!! It seems so pro San Fran its ridiculous. They miss 12 men on the field? Come On Man!

  • gpldan

I’m pretty sure that the Panthers could have called Jamarcus Russell out of retirement and put up more than 10 points.

    #stagetoobig

    • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

You’ll be getting a call from the league office. Rewrite your narrative right now. The stage can’t be too big for one of the chosen ones.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Why do I see Chico’s coaching trajectory following Lovie’s? Great Ds, mediocre O. At least Cam isn’t Sexy Rexy.

I think the Panthers just need a new hot OC (maybe even from College), and some field stretching weapons which can equip them to come from behind.

      • NewBearInTown

They just need more weapons period. Outside of Steve Smith (who isn’t nothing), they’ve got very few bullets in the gun. Need to get a ton better at WR. Could stand to improve at running back. And we all know the story on Greg Olson at TE.

  • BerwynBomber

Poetic justice on the INT. That roughing the passer call was complete bullshit.

    • Johnathan Wood

      ball don’t lie

  • My Bad Guys, My Bad…

2 guys in the league right now that teams keep kicking themselves over because they listened to the guys in the tower instead of the boots on the ground: Blount, Burfict.

Burfict didn’t even get drafted. The guy killed people in college and we draft Hardin, Conte, etc.
Blount was passed over too and wasn’t drafted. 6’0 250 wrecking ball that jumps over dudes.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I hear a lot of grumbling about Bruno Mars at half-time, but at least he’s talented, and won’t lip sync. Compared to Madonna and the other geriatric acts, I like it.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers ought to inject some fun at half-time too. Hopefully they perform “Breaking the Girl’ in nothing but their “sock uni” to stick it to commercialized viewers.

  • BerwynBomber

Rooting for the winner of SF/Seattle to win the SB. Fuck the points orgy of the arena-like AFC teams. Gimme the street brawl of these top NFC teams.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

It’s odd. The way it’s shaping up, two young teams in the NFC, two old dogs in the AFC.

Last year, the old dog won.

      • gpldan

I could go for a Niners vs. Pats SB. Good story lines there.

I would probably skip a Seahawks vs. Chargers Super Bowl.

    • SC Dave

I want Seattle and Denver to win. Those other guys have been in enough Super Bowls.

  • Johnathan Wood

There you have it #Bears fam “Bears Retain D-Coordinator Mel Tucker, Fire Def Assistants Mike Phair (DL Coach) and Tim Tibesar (LBs Coach)”

  • AlbertInTucson

If they were gonna dump him, they’d have dumped him two weeks ago.

  • BerwynBomber

I’m okay with Tucker coming back for one season. I question whether the guy is the right DC but injuries and aging would have made it tough on any DC to get much out of the unit. That said, Mel will be on around-the-clock watch the coming year.

    • johnnywad

I trust Trestman has looked at it from every angle.
The easy thing to do would have been to fire him. I admit its what I would have done. When something is THAT bad it seems best just to flush the system and start over. I suppose if they do revamp the personnel and let Mel actually design his own defense, perhaps that’s a good enough system flush. So I’m getting on board. Go Mel. But man is it gonna be rough if he stumbles out of the chute next year.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I’m not like that. If a Doctor tells you “There’s a tumor. We’re not sure if it’s because of cause a or cause b” Guess what? I’m getting rid of both just in case ESP if there’s a better option (Phillips, Horton).

        Why risk it?

        • johnnywad

Yep. That’s why I would have fired him. Let’s hope Trest sees more than we do.

          • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I’m not sold on either when it comes to the D or specials. It’s like the Bears are cursed to have one without the other two.

  • gpldan
