The Patriots will save $6.25 million in cash this year and $7 million next year by trading Mankins. The trade also creates $5.755 million in cap space for New England in 2014.

And they continue to play chess while the rest of the GMs play checkers.

    • MB30SD

fucking amazing man. Just crazy. So jealous of that kind of constant, every-year, long-pull strateegery. Seriously impressive.

      • AlbertInTucson

Until somebody blows past Mankins’ replacement and plants the franchise.

NFL Radio said Mankins’ still costs the Pats $4M against the cap this year AND next.

        • MB30SD

Still, they seem to have 2 or 3 firsts and a few seconds every year.

    • Trac

The Patriots suck. Take away Brady and what do you have? Belicheat is an overated coach and quite frankly, I’m sick and tired of hearing about him. This is a what have you done for me lately league and it’s time for the pats to go away. I’ll take Tom Coughlin over Belicheat any day.

      • Bender McLugh

        nope.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

Don’t kid yourself. They wen to the AFC Championship last year without their Defensive leaders and with a bunch of WR rookies. In the year their starting TE got caught as a serial killer. Talk about reacting to ‘distractions’.

PS: They have Revis, McCourty, Chandler Jones, Wilfork, Solder, Volmer, Gronkowski. These a all Top 5 players at their position.
If the Bears win this game they are SB contenders. This game is the biggest game of the season. Jeff thinks it’s the 49ers, other think it’s the Packers or the Saints. For me it’s the Patriots in their building.

Nice story about becoming a Bears fan. Your Dad’s response is probably what my old man would have said in a similar circumstance. My Dad didn’t like it when I played for the Packers one year in a peewee league. He said if I ever became a Packer fan, he would disown me.

        • MB30SD

          now THAT’S a good dad

Imagine my chagrin, when my son was a wee lad. We lived in San Antonio, TX, and the poor child was amidst legions of Cowboys fans.

To top that off, unlike the glory days of the mid 80s (and perhaps my favorite Bears game in almost 50 years of fandom – the 44-0 destruction of the Cowboys in ’85), this was the Aikman/Smith/(fuck… oh yeah, the push-off guy) Irvin Cowboys.

I told him how lucky he was to have a perfect excuse for his first team to be awesome.

But, in the end, my boy is a Bears fan, and seems likely to be one forever.

            Sometimes, shit works out righteously.

My Daughter was born in the magical Year-Of-Our-Bears, 1985. She had a minor “The Dophins have pretty uniforms” phase but outgrew it and can now yell at the TV like the die hard Bears fan she grew into.

          • Bear Down in Tampa

I gave my wife (who is a Bucs fan) the right to brainwash my daughter for her team (except I am undermining her effort). But I get my sons, my oldest (3.5 years old) already knows that the Packers are hated and his Daaaa Bearsssssssssssss! is already rounding into form. My younger son (3 weeks old) will be indoctrinated this season. It’s our job as fathers to indoctrinate our children in Bears fandom!

          • MB30SD

          • tobijohn

One of my older customers used to live over in Tampa when the Bucs were just starting out and the tickets were too easy to come by. She told me that if you had extra tickets to a game, you’d leave them under the windshield wiper of your car so who ever strolled by could just grab them. She said on more than one occasion, after she left a couple tickets out that way, she’d come back from shopping ant there would be four tickets under her wiper. Now I don’t know if she was just pulling my leg but it’s a good story nonetheless…

          • Trac

I became a Bears fan in ‘ 77, my Dad? A Cowboys fan. He used to ask me why I bothered following a losing team instead of pulling for America’s Team? Is always answer him by saying “Walter Payton”.

  • Cormonster

I’m not confident with our linebackers and safeties like many of you, but lets lay off Tucker until we see a few games. From what I’ve read and heard, the Bears only showed vanilla stuff in training camp and preseason so far. We have no idea what kind of defense and schemes Tucker has planned when the real games start. Let’s give it 3-4 games before getting too critical of the guy.

    • MB30SD

I agree with this… last year just has me really nervous. I really really hope he’s the shit… or at least not ‘just shit’

      • SC Dave

Hear here on that last clause

    • AlbertInTucson

Perspective: I don’t believe the 49er first team offense has yet visited the endzone this exhibition season.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

They only played vanilla in the first preseason game. They showed more and more in the other 2 games.
We saw man coverage, blitzes (a lot of LB, few DB) and S in the box.

      • Trac

I agree with this. Our defense reminds me of Portillo’s for some reason. Great memories but a long way away..

        • Barb UMihai Mar

          • Trac

Portillos is one of my Chicagoland fave eateries that has left me with fond memories but is too far away for me to patronize now.

    • beninnorcal

I agree, can’t judge til it’s real. I fail to see how revamping the D-line, adding what looks to be a solid cover guy in the secondary, and otherwise having the same unit minus James Anderson makes our D worse.

I think a lot of GM´s are going to watch this game…Trestman´s boy Fales will “parade” in front of media.

I feel like emery needs a ryan-type guy at Halas to help him do on D, what trest has helped him do on O. I’m really hoping tucker surprises the shit out of all of us this year.

I’ll admit I have no idea about what their plan is, but I’m extremely fearful of this situation. I see dead people.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

That doesn’t make things better by default. Just think about those 100 OC the Bears had in Lovie era. I’m pretty sure they were motivated because they had their balls in the sling and knew Lovie’s modus operandi.
            Still sucked ass.

Getting Munnerlyn was big for them, he is better than getting Fuller (at this stage). It cost them 3yr, $14.5M but he is a shutdown equiv to what the Pats got in Revis.

They are going to generate pressure and look formidable in pre-season.

          • For your consideration….

I’d agree with you about Wootton except that Willie Young gets great pressure and actually is good on the run without the injury history of Corey. I think we got the healthier more impactful guy this time.

All those 1st round picks have to pay off at some point, right? Anthony Barr scares me the most on D, AP still scary on O, and Cordarrell Patterson scares the hell out of me on specials… And O. We have no team speed… Anywhere.

          • Cormonster

Singletary made 10 pro bowls, 8 of which were 1st team all pro. Twice named defensive player of the year. Only Lawrence Taylor has been DPOTY three times. The other guys who won it twice are Mean Joe Greene, Reggie White, Bruce Smith, and the murderer. Member of the all 80’s team. Team leader. Over-rated? I think not.

          • CanadaBear

That one made me laugh. Other than when you were in your late teens or early 20’s, when was the last time you gave a shit about a cash bar at a wedding reception. Seriously, no more than it costs to buy alcohol in the States, what did the cash bar cost that guy? $25? BFD. I get that it’s a pisser when the father of the bride is rich but so what? Pretty sure Trac hit the nail on the head. Liability.

          • AlbertInTucson

I had an open bar at my wedding. I would never do THAT again.

          • Shady

Get married or have an open bar?

          • AlbertInTucson

            Well played, Shady, WELL played.

        • AlbertInTucson

Yeah, I didn’t think the body of the article was up to “…Your Team Sucks” standards but the fan comments are almost always the highlight of this series anyway.

      • Cormonster

How about the Washington Whalers for a team name? Surely that wouldn’t offend anyone. Queequeg (from the original Moby Dick movie) could be the team’s mascot with a harpoon in his hand. That would look pretty badass.

        • AlbertInTucson

Sorry, Cor, Whaling is a no, no.

    • MB30SD

Hilarious… he didn’t really roast us too badly, because he could have re: our D.

It was very personal though… you could tell. funny.

  • MB30SD
    • it’s AOL. This is 2014, not 2002.
OF COURSE it’s out of touch

      • MB30SD

Oh shit… here we go. Ok Mr. AOL employee… you now have a new target. Hahaha

  • GPLDAN

Trailing the Bears by 21 points in the fourth quarter last season, the Cowboys ran the ball on every single play. That’s how bad our run defense is.

    It’s funny because it’s true.

  • Trac

When did Bostic and McClellin become athletic freaks? Seriously, what am I missing ?

    • MB30SD

neither are. Bostic could become a very good run guy, but he’s gotta get his shit together on pass too.

CD is just some dude in the NFL, nothing even interesting. And he’s not very good. : (

    • AlbertInTucson

      Wishful thinking, I’d say.

  • Trac

I went to HS with a Condon. No joke.

    • I went to MS with one. Felt bad for her.

      • but not bad enough to stop me from making Condon/condom jokes, obviously.

        • MB30SD

we had a teacher… Mrs. Head.

I shit you knot. Rumor hads it that her sun’s name was reechard.

          • Trac

I went to school with a Debbie Dick. I guarantee you she got married real quick cause of all the crap she used to get. She was extremely hot too.

          • MB30SD

guess it’s better than debbie vagina.

          • RenoBear

Niiice..I had a middle school teacher named Dick Mann

  • GPLDAN

Many questions follow naturally from the (Josh Gordon) situation: Is it fair to suspend a player, especially for an entire season, when only one of the two samples taken from him reportedly was positive, and barely so at that? Are the NFL’s marijuana policies out of step with the direction that parts of the country are moving on the issue? Is it right for Gordon to be missing the season while Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice will be eligible to play beginning in his team’s third game following his suspension for a brutal domestic violence incident?

The NFL makes it hard to like watching.

    • MB30SD

rodger goodell is single-handedly destroying our game and the org. He’s a fucking cancer for fans, unfortunately he’s a dogsend for the owners and merchandisers and food sellers, etc… etc…

      cunt.

      • AlbertInTucson

Gordon has a track record for stupidity. Rice doesn’t.

  • ff two spots left for the league. I tried reserving those for Frank and oso, but the draft is nigh so whoever sends me their email, first come first serve

    • EnderWiggin

Is $200 the amount we start with?

      • Trac

If it’s pay to play, I’m out.

        • MB30SD

damn right you are. Glad you’ve already started to put it aside! Smart maing.

          • Shady

            Join or die.

          • MB30SD

            die?

            Cereal?

          • Butch85

You gonna join, or is Shady going to have to shame you till 2015?

          • MB30SD

            shame me.

          • Shady

I’m pretty sure that’s how it works.

          • Trac

You liked that did you? Lol

        • For your consideration….

          it’s not real money

        • It’s 200…in bit coin bwaha

      • Butch85

Yup. keep in mind, it’s 2qb and 1P

    • Frank Schoenburg
  • For your consideration….

Knowing what we know about marijuana’s pain relieving ability & NFL’s pain causing ability, pot suspensions will look ridiculous in 5 years.

how about driving while fucking rocked out on weed and Hennessey? Is that part of the training table regimen for pain management?

    • For your consideration….

if so, sign me up because that’s a party.

      • MB30SD

and god knows with another one on the way, you’re in for some MAJOR pain.

        BAAAAHAHAHAHAHA (btw, you craaaaazie!)

Do you remember when Brosnan was tossed and Craig was in, Clive Owen had a little bit of butthurt that he was passed over?

So he did those BMW shorts where he was “the driver” in a very Bond like way?

Now, in retrospect, do you think he could have done Casino Royale better than Craig?

      • MB30SD

I like owen, but he’s a little too goofy for 007. Although, he was pretty good in BI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jLbKr11l20

as well as a few other spie genre movies. Brosnan is straight up a douche. Not a fan (in that role at least)

  • MB30SD

hey GP, I’ve never asked what you drive. If it’s something you don’t feel comfortable posting, don’t, but do you have this?

A hundred bucks for a fancy app integration, or $20 for a OBDII reader:

I’ll go with the latter. I don’t want my phone dialing 911 if I crash, I want to do it Khan style crawling from my car

As for saving fuel, don’t most cars made after 2008 have mileage calculations? Isn’t that enough? Seems like 2 cheap things put together to make an expensive thing. And I have a 2010 Pilot.

      • MB30SD

        ohhhhh…. nice rig!

  • ff alert need ONE MORE to fill up the league. The draft is tomorrow at 830 pm est, so send me ur email toxicgnosis@gmail.com

          • MB30SD

            sorry my maings… I’m not your guy. : (

  • GPLDAN

I would like some of this for tomorrow, please.

    • johnnywad

      How the fuck?

      • MB30SD

It’s fake. There was a whole string of them… check em all out on the tubz

        • johnnywad

Damn. I wanted to believe he could do that. On another front… You getting any of the giant hurricane surf I hear about in the news? If so, do you ride that shit? Or is that suicidal?

          • MB30SD

Yeah, went this morning, but it’s not that big where I am. I used to surf up to 15’… but I’m too old for that shit these days.

Almost died a couple times doing that

          • johnnywad

I heard up to 30′. No thanks. Sounds like a death wish to me. Factor in radioactive hurricane driven Fukushima Sharks, and I’m definitely out

Blofather Tweet:” This is my work space. It has been invaded by cats.”

My daughter has 2 cats. They have to keep the bathroom doors locked when they are gone because :

    A) The Cats can open the door handles and

    B) They then proceed to turn on the water faucet.

    • Trac

      Cue the spooky movie soundtrack.

    • MB30SD

Why would you buy a pet that acts like a bitchy, indifferent woman?! My god people, buy dogs. Unconditional love is the best shit in the world!

      • beninnorcal

I enjoy the best of both worlds. My cat doesn’t act like a bitchy female, he acts like a little 12 lb lion that thinks he’s biggerr than my 90 lb black lab. Funny thing is that my lab is convinced of the same.
Having a cat like Randy( named after South Park’s Randy Marsh) keeps things interesting, you never know when he’s gonna come flying in to ambush you, and you better fight back. Good times.

        • MB30SD

          sigh.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I picture 30 talking like this when he talks about cats….

          • MB30SD

            my god he’s crazy.

      • AlbertInTucson

Well, they also have 2 dogs so they’re not completely wacked.

        • MB30SD

I wasn’t talking about ‘ the ‘ al… just pretty much anyone who buys a at over a dog.

TJ is excused because of his selfless act and big heart.

  • Shady

    Enjoy.

    http://deadspin.com/why-your-team-sucks-2014-green-bay-packers-1627477893

“God, these fans. These fat, slovenly rubes with their goddamn cheeseheads. Look at those things. You should be embarrassed. I’m embarrassed for you. That’s the sort of thing you wear because you lost a bet. There’s no PRIDE in rocking an ugly piece of headgear that screams I’M FAT BECAUSE I EAT TOO MANY DAIRY PRODUCTS. In addition to hoping Aaron Rodgers gets hurt, I hope a race of giant alien mice descend upon Wisconsin. And then, I hope those alien mice overlords see your cheeseheads and go the fuck to town on you. That’s what you suckers deserve.”

    • MB30SD

And then moron Eli Manning rolls in and cockslaps you all over the place. God, just thinking about it makes me wanna take my pants off.

      • MB30SD

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha…

I once was tailgating in Green Bay before a game. I had a buddy in college who knew a girl that lived in GB; she and I got connected prior to my trip to see the Packers-Saints in 2011. She was interested in me and interested in meeting up for a beer or two before the Packers beat up on the Saints. Keep in mind, this was an opening night game on a Thursday. Upon meeting her in the parking lot, completely shit-faced (with spittle from an earlier vomit on her shirt), this girl was standing up and incoherently blabbering about needing to really go pee. Well, she did. She pissed herself right down her legs and out from under her skirt. Soon after she finished, she looked at me said with a wink: “My house is around the corner. I need to change my gameday panties, want to help me take them off?” This happened at noon; 7 hours before the game was to begin.

        • CanadaBear

When I was young, I so would have gone with her.

          • For your consideration….

            #peebang

        • For your consideration….

haha, who said romance is dead?

  • For your consideration….

Watching the Redskins Ravens game i have to say that Cameron Worrell can suck a huge dick. RG3 is fucking done bro but way to go calling out the Bears own quarterback incorrectly. Do you know why Cam? Because he tried to play hurt and his fucking knee disintegrated and now RG3 has all of the explosiveness of white division 2 running back. If he wasn’t a first round pick he wouldn’t even be the qb of the redskins and if he was anything later than a 3rd round pick he’d be out of the league and on the radio cutting down other players actually still in the league.
