• Cormonster

First to say Bear Down! Go Bears, go Falcons, geaux Saints.

    • Viva

Good morning, Corm. Great day to beat the Pats is it not?

      • Cormonster

        It most certainly is.

  • Viva

First (Pacific Time Zone DBB’er) to say Bear Down!

Bailey Girl, my 6 year old daughter, woke me up and asked if she could come to the gym with me this morning. Daddy heaven!

    Have a great day!

    DA BEARCCCCE!!!!

Tweet: “Some say 930 AM is too early to go to a bar. I am not one of those some.”

It”s S.O.P out here in the PDT time zone, which Arizona iz technially on until. 10am game starts until standard time returns in November. Lions-Falcons at 6:30 this morning.

    • CanadaBear

I have a really good friend in Tucson and for years I thought I was losing my mind because I never seemed to know what time it was in Tucson. He finally told me AZ doesn’t go on daylight savings time. DUH!

      • AlbertInTucson

When it’s 105 degrees, you kind of WANT it to get dark sooner rather than later.

Gonna be 88 or 89 today.

  • SC Dave

Guess I’ll have to watch. Seems I always do, for better or worse.

    Bear down, me hearties!

  • johnnywad

    Lions gonna Lion?

  • johnnywad

Lions already playing from behind with no Calvin Johnson. We’ll see if they’ve purged their inner Schwartziness.

    • CanadaBear

We were so lucky to have that idiot in Detroit. A good coach would have made the NFC North a hellish place to be. Instead, you usually just had to outlast the Kitties because eventually they would shoot themselves in the foot and give the game away.

    • BerwynBomber

Caldwell’s a definite upgrade, though how much remains to be seen. One thing that has always hurt the Kittens is that they have no short yardage run game. Ours hasn’t been the best during the Forte era but it’s still miles better than theirs.

  • Trac

Where’s Mufassa? That’s right MB, I’m talkin to you fool! Da Bears!

  • CanadaBear

Heading down to my ’70’s man cave to watch the Kitties and the Patsy’s get spanked. Bear the fuck down, bitches (trying to represent MB in spirit!).

    • Trac

      Lol

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

need some FF advise need a FLEX starter – Forsett, McKinnon, or Vereen.
    standard scoring league.

    I am leaning towards McKinnon

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    bear down?

  • AlbertInTucson

Not a good start to this day.

  • AlbertInTucson

tweet: “1. If ever there was a game to play man coverage outside, this is it. Let Fuller, Jennings work WRs & focus on defending middle of field. ”

    Fuller’s a go?

    • beninnorcal

I heard he is. This dude is legit.

  • AlbertInTucson

Expectation:Patriots score the first time they get their hands on the ball.

    • SC Dave

      Expectation met

    • EnderWiggin

      You called it…

  • Viva

I just want to these guys play with discipline and intensity. Run it down their throats.

  • underway

    Run, Run, Run… YES!!!!!!

  • SC Dave

    Our TEs need blocking lesions

  • EnderWiggin

Gronk vs Mundy = long day.

  • DSupreme

So it’s going to be another one of those days against the Pats?? That shit was a lil too easy. SMH

  • Scott W.

I think we win this by 10.

  • BerwynBomber

That looked like our run D from last year. Holding penalty on our first possession was deadly but it was a legit call.

  • RenoBear

DJ Williams is a turd out there

    • EnderWiggin

McClellin is like the sent just following him around.

    • Cormonster

      DJ looks terrible as usual.

  • EnderWiggin

Slauson felt bad for Mills, so he went ahead and got that pre-snap penalty out of the way.

  • wreckinball

    That a way O

  • tonyhustlehb

Does anyone have a link for the game?

  • underway

way to easy… Jared, today would be a good day earn your keep…

  • RenoBear

This defense is fucking miserable. Damn if it isn’t the most frustrating shit ever

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

miserable? the offense, they have to deal with themselves.. defense have to deal with Brady,

    • RenoBear

Problem is, it seldom matters what QB it is… We make em all look good.

  • FantuzPhysics

goal line stand. Nice. Any want to bet they go for it on 4th down?

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

surely they will go for it

    • SC Dave

I would. They can always get the safety

  • Guest

    YEEEES!!!

  • underway

    we just got screwed…. FUCK

    • RenoBear

Of course. We make a great stand on 4th down… And the pats still get fucking points

  • RenoBear

I wish we were able to decline false start penslties

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      yeah it sucks

  • RenoBear

Thanks for proving me wrong defense

  • WP4Life

    Anyone see false start?

    • RenoBear

      Nope.

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      NO

    • RenoBear

It’s the Patriot way. Especially at jome

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

time to show some life by the “inoffensiveness”

  • johnnywad

So Lions get a win because THEY fuck up and get a delay of game on a missed field goal. Now the Patriots get three points for free because THEY FUCK UP, and don’t get a foot on fourth down. Fuck that unfair bullshit

  • RenoBear

Can our receivers not beat man coverage anymore?

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

they did it last season, this season….different history.

      • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

it sucks, can´t have enought playmakers but don´t produce

  • underway

    I dont understand.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

it´s a mess, what happened with runnung the ball!!

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

it was me or Conte is tackling in open field

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

it´s going to be a long day with Gronkowski

  • underway

Our D CANNOT hold up under these circumstances. The offense is looking pathetic, they need to do their part… FUCKS SAKE…

    • SC Dave

Perhaps the worst offense I’ve seen in my life.

  • SC Dave

    Our offense is sooo pathetic

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

need better IQ in both sides

  • EnderWiggin

This is very difficult to watch.

  • WP4Life

    Outcoached!

  • BerwynBomber

Brady might have been over the line on that 3rd and 16 conversion.

  • underway

Jennings had no clue, hesitates and that created separation… MAN UP

  • 505Bears

I blame this shitty offense…d has not been great, but tired as hell from always being out there.

  • Scott W.

I still think we win this. Don’t ask me why. I just do.

    • 505Bears

Ah, started drinking during the lions game…nice

      • Scott W.

        Heh! Bad pizza last night.

    • Scott W.

All I can do is hang my head. I can’t even make a light hearted wise crack.
      I’m out of words.

      • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

        you are not alone….

  • 505Bears

You would figure as many kickoffs we get, because of teams beating us down, we would be pretty good at them…but no

  • RenoBear

Fuck Brady had two guys wide open on that TD. Oh I hate our team that has no identity or a clue. So fucking frustrating. Every week by the end of the week, I think of our talent and think ‘hell, we got a chance’ . Then every week they lay a fuckin egg and look so disjointed with the smallest glimpses of a good play here and there. Fucking kills me. I think this coaching staff cannot adapt quickly enough. Bit I keep watching because I love this team so…

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      amen

  • 505Bears

At least the bulls tip off in a few days

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    ufff!!!

  • underway

Cutler has a problem… This is clear. I guess the safety is wearing invisible paint?

  • RenoBear

    Look off a receiver Jay

  • RenoBear

Got away with a huge one there

  • 505Bears

    Cutler needs a dark visor

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    yeah!!! running the fucking BALL!!!!!

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    yeeeaaahh!

  • RenoBear

    Hallelujah!

  • RenoBear

Why Marshall out the last three plays?

    • EnderWiggin

The Bears made an adjustment (attitude adjustment).

      • RenoBear

        Ha!

  • tobijohn

Looks like I might not be able to get a nap in this afternoon after all…

  • 505Bears

Hooray…they won’t be switching it to the vikes/bucs

  • EnderWiggin

Run the ball effectively and good things happen.

  • BerwynBomber

That was all about the O-line. Cutty could have caught a smoke on a few of those passes.

  • FantuzPhysics

    My god that looked good

  • 505Bears

This team teases me like my 8th grade math teacher in a short skirt. Just enough to keep me coming back

    • Trac

No, I’m thinking the Bears tease fans about as much as a nun showing her ankles does.

      • Scott W.

        THAT was funny!!!

  • BurningBrule

I am so very glad my Bronocs got rid of the “elite” Jay Cutler! I am telling you Bears fans – he is absolutely toxic.

    • RenoBear

      Go troll somewhere else fool

    • EnderWiggin

      Come back in February.

      • RenoBear

Funny thing is about bitch ass bronco fans is just bc they won the Manning sweepstakes and have been good in FA. they think their team is built to last…

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      troll to meet you

    • 505Bears

      They see me trollin..they hatin

    • Trac

Easy for you to say. You traded away Tebow and signed Manning.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    good Paea

  • Viva

    drill these mother fuckers

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    without pressure…

    • Viva

no shit…3 and 14 and you give him the only thing he needs ….time

  • RenoBear

Fuck Gronkowski. Let’s get a turnover guts

  • EnderWiggin

Allen used to have such a good bull-rush on 3rd and long…

    • 505Bears

      Then he chopped the mullet

  • 505Bears

Dude, guard the giant white guy…someone

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

where is Chicken dinner??? it´s suppose he covers G

      • 505Bears

Chicken nugget is doing what he does best…nothing

  • underway

how does Gronk run 15 yards up the field uncovered?

  • Trac

We’re getting killed on T.O.P and Total offense. Can’t keep this up if we expect to win.

  • EnderWiggin

    I think I’d have burnt a timeout @ 2:10.

  • tobijohn

With the exception of that goal line stand, the defense looks like the JV squad…

  • RenoBear

Sooooo.. They game plan for Gronkowski is…. Mundy??? Wow…

    • 505Bears

Never said it was a good game plan

      • RenoBear

        Nope

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

and Chicken dinner, it´s suppose he is SAM now

  • Viva

    NEED A TURNOVER

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      need someone covers Gron

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    good Mclellin…

  • EnderWiggin

What’s worse than Mundy covering Gronk? One thing. McClellin.

  • underway

TOO EASY, there is no 1 man on our team that can guard him on a fade 1 on 1… even I know this…

  • RenoBear

    That ball moved. No TD

    • RenoBear

      It moved A LOT

    • underway

i hope u are right, but NE in foxboro…. 9 out of 10 its called a TD.

      • RenoBear

        What a joke

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

it´s unberable to watch one guy beats us and do absolutely nothing

    • RenoBear

Such a sick joke. Not a single in game adjustment on Gronkowski. Absolute insanity FUCK!

  • EnderWiggin

    Holy crap… Welcome to Gillette.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

fuck.. as if patriots need a hand

  • underway

    JEEZUS…..knee in the endzone jackass….

  • WP4Life

Kickoff Wtf. I a tired if having a dumb team. Blame cutter for pushing the ball now…

  • underway

Jay, gotta read the blitz and get that ball to Bennett peeling off because he ALSO reads its a blitz…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    NO IQ… FUCK!!!

  • EnderWiggin

That’s an awfully Long half the distance.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

a reverse that doesn´t cheat anyone!!

  • 505Bears

Pats gonna get more points…way to just completely get outplayed/coached

  • RenoBear

Sweet. Let’s give the Pats more points BEFORE the half… And give them the ball AGAIN after halftime. WOOHOO

  • Viva

    Dear Coach Trestman,

A draw on 3 and fucking 14 ain’t gonna get you back in the game.

    • EnderWiggin

      Dear Coach,

      Change everything.

    • SC Dave

      Nor will leaving cutler in

  • SC Dave

    Wow… 64-7 will be a blessing.

  • underway

the ST debacle has showed itself. I’m going outside…. FUCK THIS SHIT… failing at all phases…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    NO FUCKING JOKING!!!

  • Viva

Let me guess, Tresty is waiting Belichik out.

  • 505Bears

Pats TCU’ing this scrub team. Get ready for fox to switch to vikes game…paper bag time ugh

  • tobijohn

OK, I’ve seen enough. Nap time…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

need to do something drastic or start thinking in next season

  • Viva

Hey, I have an idea. Let’s take a fucking knee when we get the ball back..

    • Jack Lacan

      Very funny — thanks…
      Jack

  • SC Dave

The worst decisions of Emery? Cutler and trestman

    • BerwynBomber

Yeah, one starts to wonder. He’s made some good picks in the draft and the Young FA signing has paid dividends but Cutler and Trestman are the biggest decisions and if PE got those wrong the rest is academic.

  • RenoBear

Our team is the biggest joke of the NFL. We actually have real talent, and we are absolutely, unabashedly fucking atrocious. At least the other terrible NFL teams have a lack of talent

  • underway

    HAHAHAhAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA……….

  • 505Bears

    What a joke..not even mad…just comical

  • Trac

Ok, barring some unforeseen miracle, the Bears are now officially a bad bad team. This ain’t my fathers team!

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I have to laugh or I´ll get sick.

  • 505Bears

The jimmys in the second half

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      agree

    • underway

      trest doesnt have the balls.

      • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

        totally agree with that

    • EnderWiggin

      Second half of the season?

  • Mike123

Plenty of time for another giveaway and score against before halftime. Go Bears!

  • RenoBear

Wow I’ve never turned a game off at halftime in my 30+ years of watching them. Guess there’s a first time for everything. What a terribly, terribly run football team. From the top all the way down to the players

  • SC Dave

    Clausen! Clausen! Clausen!

  • FantuzPhysics

    Clausen 2nd half?

    • EnderWiggin

      Second half of the season??

      • FantuzPhysics

        No ha. Just this game.

      • SC Dave

        Cutler is a disaster

  • RenoBear

What’s the over under on Marshall completely checking out or melting down? I say halfway through the 2nd quarter of the Packers game at the latest. It’s a damn shame

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

losing by 31…. it´s time to evoke Frank Reich spirit

  • GPLDAN

    Ok guys. I am out.

I will watch the remainder of the season and finish Butch’s FF up – but I’m done.

Joining MB on indefinite hiatus from the blog, leaving it to BillW to entertain you with his Eeyore impression, and waiting out the day that Phil Emery gets fired.

For the good guys on the blog – fare well. This town deserves better than this organization to represent it.

    • RenoBear

Catch you when you come back man. Cheers

    • 505Bears

      Vaya con dios

      • Trac

That made me think of the Burrito’s I used to eat when I lived in Ca. Mmm mmm mmm.

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

C U GP because it is going to take some years from now

    • Scott W.

You will be sorely missed. Im sorry you’re heading out GP. Wish you’d hang on with the rest of us.

      • GPLDAN

THere’s not a lot to chat about with this team. It needs a major overhaul and a new GM.

Alot of the old timers, Irish, MB, MBHP (mostly), Crown – have backed away. I will read the threads from time to time, but not every day like I used to. Can’t put heart and soul into a team with this level of corporate flaccid BS running it.

It’s a entire team reflecting the could give a shit mentality of it’s QB. The idea of 2 more years of Cutler is too much to bear down with.

Keep the flame going Scott. These are the dark days when Sauron rules the land, and the real men of Gondor are nowhere to be found.

        • Scott W.

I’ll keep trying to light wet matches, but again, you will be missed. I read every post you put up.

  • BearFanInDE

Wow! This team is an embarrassment! I miss Lovie!

  • BerwynBomber

A PERFECT example of why QR can be a misleading stat at times. Up till that last possession Cutty’s was at 101.3 and he had really been next to awful.

  • Cormonster

This game was over before the end of the first quarter. This team is soft and shows no heart. Everyone seems to be afraid of contact.

    • Scott W.

I think they just look lost, corm. Like a team with no idea of why they even have uniforms.

  • beninnorcal

This loss feels like 10 losses.

    • Scott W.

Yes. It feels seismic. This game could actually cause heads to roll. Not immediately perhaps, but decisions are surely being made right now.

  • BerwynBomber

Among Cutler’s many flaws (decision-making, accuracy, predictability, etc.), his biggest might be that he just holds the ball too damn long. Our O-line’s pass protection sucked a few years back but a QB like Jay does it no favor. He will expose any cracks in an O-line.

    • Scott W.

He’s just not good. Right now, I’d trade Buffalo straight up to get Orton back. Downvote me all day for that, but I would.

    • BearFanInDE

Easy BB. Lot of folks were upset at #54 for pointing out the obvious earlier this week…

  • dchuk

I’m sorry, but stick a fork in them, they ARE well done. If it were Rodgers in the second half I would still have faith.

  • Trac

I now know why the players were so pissed when Lovie got canned, why Angelee was so smug after getting axed and why I felt uneasy when Emery drafted Chicken Dinner.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

Mundy… take out your helmet and get your butt out of the field!!

  • underway

    SO DISRESPECTFUL.

  • BearFanInDE

Wait for garoppolo to throw a couple of TDs

  • Trac

It’s time to go back to a defensive minded philosophy.

    • Jack Lacan

This comment is very funny indeed…

  • RenoBear

BAHAHAHAHAHA I’m watching the red zone channel and just saw the Gronkowski TD. I’m beginning to hope we lose historically bad like 80-7

  • BerwynBomber

Ryan Mundy just assured himself a part in the career highlight film of Gronkowski’s career.

  • Trac

    Draft jockeying has official begun.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

I´d talk with Rex Ryan and Joe Philbin to couching positions

  • BerwynBomber

I agree w/ Blogfather. GET FORTE OUT OF THE GAME. He’s virtually our entire O this year. Save the man. This is a waste of his mileage.

    • Trac

Get Forte outta the game? Really? You keep your warriors in and stop the bleeding somehow. That is the most ridiculous mindset I have ever heard. Silly nilly stuff. You’re gonna save Forte for the blowout after the bye. Nuts man. Just nuts.

      • BerwynBomber

I’d rather see Carey in there. Give him some reps.

        • Trac

Ok, I get that but it ain’t gonna help.

          • Jack Lacan

            Very true…

      • Jack Lacan

You’re correct – that’s why he makes the big bucks…

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

I don´t agree, When You compete have to show heart and to show gritness if not better stay in home.

      • BerwynBomber

Yeah, I can see that side of things — but RB’s shelf lives are so brief. Oh well. Trest agrees with you. Just seems like a half to conserve him and see what Carey has.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

doing what they had to do at the beginning.

  • Jack Lacan

Just watched last week in bi-polar depression – no comments. This week…
“I saw the news today…Oh, boy…the English Army had just won…etc.,etc…
And from the old playgrounds of Englewood…we have the slaughter rule…
Do not remove the sign near Wrigley that says “Cutler Makes Me Drink”…

  • AlbertInTucson

I just did something I have NEVER done. I left a Bear game in total disgust before the end of the first half.

And I mean I was gone at 31-7.

I am in such a foul mood I can’t stand myself.

I do not watch Bear games so I can feel like crap.

    Piss. On. This.

    • EnderWiggin

This whole fekkin week – down the shitter.

    • Jack Lacan

Albert – I lost a set of double this morning and was very miserable and NOW this…
      Cranky

    • Maddbearfan

Yep, 1 more loss and that pretty much says it for the season. If they win out that would really be wild but somehow I just don’t ….well ..that’s just me.

      • stats3599

win out??…lol…..and start second half in GB….um NO!

      • Trac

It’s ok Madd, you can say it. The Bears suck!

  • Jack Lacan

Has anyone mentioned “backing up the truck”?

  • Jack Lacan

    Looking forward to Bears Postgame…
How many “phases of the moon/game” did not work today????

  • Jack Lacan

“I sense Revis has frustrated Marshall today…Chuckle, chuckle”…Shut the ____up!

  • EnderWiggin

Yeah, go for two! Put us back into this thing.

  • Jack Lacan

“A light rain is falling in Foxboro…” those are my tears…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

if team plays as Bennett does, this season would be different.

  • stats3599

Any chance they put up a 50 spot??

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      30 is enought

  • Jack Lacan

    Every dog has his day…

    Pumpitude…Pump YOU up…
Booker Noe has not made enough bourbon to take care of this one…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

Jean Louis…. welcome to the league rook

  • Jack Lacan

Oh yes, we need “leadership”…Who will step up???

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

the only way Gron was stopped…. by a dehydration!!! fucking joke

    • Mike123

Well, he was running away from Bears DBs all day long…

      • SC Dave

        LBs, mostly.

  • BearDown100393

Vereen vs Vereen is all that is left for interest in this one.

  • Jack Lacan

    We are now “building”…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

need 8 or 7 wins follow the break at least.. post-season at reach???

  • Trac

The Bears are so bad they made Tampa Bay look good today.

  • Trac

Would it be unprecedented to call up Mr. Glazer and propose a straight up trade for Lovie with Trestman?

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

unprecedent would be couching staff for anything you want, they don´t have balls,

  • Trac

In retrospect, the use of the 85 Bears picture up top is unfortunate. Jeff acted stupidly there.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

call it for today. sad day for a bear´s fan.

  • Jack Lacan

Revis eats shit and barks at the moon…

  • Jack Lacan

    A touchdown every minute and it’s ours…

  • johnnywad

Enjoy the rest of the season boys. I am not spending another Sunday afternoon pissed off at the Bears. See y’all in the weeks leading up to the draft.

    • SC Dave

Good call. But.maybe Clausen can help?

  • EnderWiggin

Houston… You just summed up your whole season in one celebration.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    what a fucking idiot!!!

  • underway

houston just summed up this game/team… FULL RETARD.

    • BearDown100393

      Season actually.

  • RenoBear

Wow. Houston pulled a Tulloch. Down 25 and he’s celebrating like an idiot. What a freaking clown. Pathetic

  • SC Dave

    Clausen! Clausen! Clausen!

    • EnderWiggin

It’ll never happen. If they don’t bench him for a half (or even a quarter), what makes you think Jay rides the pine vs. Green Bay?

  • EnderWiggin

Ya know, Trestman doesn’t cover his face with his notecard. You KNOW Billicheat has someone reading his lips before every play, right?

  • Trac

If the Bucs pull out a victory today, they’ll be 1/2 a game out of first place at 2-5. Hahahahahaha.

    • Jack Lacan

      That is very funny.

  • CanadaBear

Does it make me a bad fan if I laughed when Houston went down? We really suck. Too much suckage for just one person. We suck everywhere. DAMN! I thought we’d get killed but even that turned out to be a lofty expectation. Historically bad first half. WHEW! I can remember on one of those really hideous Bears teams from the 70’s that gave up 3 TD’s in about a minute but that’s about it.

    • RenoBear

Nope not a bad fan, I did the exact same thing. He’s a world class dumbass celebrating like that down 25pts. Tool

  • CanadaBear

Making no excuses for this effort but when you saw the Pats DB’s mugging the Bears receivers and no penalties called, you knew it was going to be a long day.

    • stats3599

oh brother!!…that is an excuse!!…come on, this is a mediocre team PERIOD!! all this Bear down shit!, this team has none of that. They just got blown out and now we talk about non calls??…yeah OK.

      • CanadaBear

        How’s your reading comprehension?

        • stats3599

ok, you start with “Making no excuses…..” and then proceed to make what reads as an excuse by mentioning muggings…..so my reading comprehension is spot on!

          • CanadaBear

I merely made an observation. Have you read any of the other posts?

          • stats3599

            yes

          • Bernsy

I watched the game with a big ten ref, he just laughed at what they let the pats d get away with.

  • BerwynBomber

Vikings win on a strip and fumble return by their rookie Anthony Barr in OT.

    • Trac

darn, I was hoping they’d be within a game outta first. haha

    • SC Dave

Go Vikings. The Bears are doing their best to make the NFC North look like the weakest sister in the NFL. Fortunately, the rest of the division is refusing to follow suit.

  • BerwynBomber

Forte, Bennett and the O-line continue to play well. Yep, I said O-line. They had a bad stretch at the end of the first half but Jay never makes an O-line look good and a good chunk of the day he had an eternity back there. Thought the Jean-Louis kid filling in for Fuller competed well. Wonder if Fuller re-injured himself or if it was just a case that he couldn’t go anymore.

    • CanadaBear

I think he got dinged on the hip again and there was no reason to put him back in. Agree the kid was giving his all but was terribly over matched.

      • BerwynBomber

Liked the sideline shot of Peanut cheering him on after that semi-questionable PI call. Peanut looked like a coach there.

      • Trac

I think it was a wrong pregame assessment to talk about how tough Fuller was for suiting up. The propper analysis should have been, “we suck so bad that Fuller is playing when he shouldn’t.”

    • SC Dave

I would have thumbed this up, if Bennett had the FAINTEST CLUE how to block in the running game. I will, however, give him strong props for running hard on the YAC all the way to the end, which is likely you point.

This is really now like the worst days of the offense when we had Payton. At least there is Matt to watch. Not quite the same, but the best we have now for sure.

  • Scott W.

So tomorrow I’m guessing Jeff’s column will attempt to stop the fan mutiny, tout the Patriots as unusually exceptional, and hammer Trestman to a degree. Not full out triage, but an ER visit to the Bears fan psyche.
Sign me up for a brain cast.

I would fire Trestman AND Emery, demote Cutler to Clausen’s backup, then release Jay at season’s end, or put him on the Practice squad.
I’d let Tucker go, with Briggs, Allen, and Shea at season’s end.

If we are going to rebuild, then fucking do it.

    • BerwynBomber

No matter how many Young and Fuller hits PE has if he got the Trestman signing and Cutler re-signing wrong those moves that will overshadow everything.

      • CanadaBear

Exactly! They can unload the coaching staff at the end of the year (doubtful) but we’re definitely going with Cutler for 2 more years.

        • Trac

Emery can’t do that. It would nullify his status as GM. He has to redirect Trestman and hope next year goes well after the draft. I would actually have less respect for Emery’s abilities if he canned Trestman. Tucker on the other hand is expendable. Wasn’t impressed with that selection outta the gate.

          • Scott W.

Man, I like your posts, but I would sure like to hear you explain how he’s going to “redirect” Trestman.

          • Trac

He’s got to make it work somehow. Now if next year is a repeat then yes he has to fire him. To fire Trestman at the end of this season could backfire tremendously and is a riskier move than waiting another year in my opinion. Plus you gotta know the front office won’t eat two years worth of salaries.

          • Scott W.

I’ll say it on screen in case there is any doubt: I am NOT an X’s and O’s, Salary Cap savvy, super-smart fan. I have fan tenure, but I’ll never get promoted to Fan President. I’m too uneducated. So I’m a forever student.
But, having stated the obvious there, I think if this is what Marc Trestman – with ALL this talent – is as a coach, if he had any honor, he’d resign. Tonight.
I cannot get past what we have on the offensive roster (the defense is just a laundry basket of names with the exception of a few, and they can’t do it all), and how Trestman was so highly touted by Emery as being Mr. Offense/QB guru. I see exactly NONE of that now. NONE. We could have hired Lane Kiffin and got better results.
As for Cutler, I think I’ve seen enough. Unless it’s revealed at the end of the season that we start him out of mercy because he has some awful disease or something, he’s utterly useless. I never thought I would get this harsh, this negative, this completely without hope. I’m usually the guy being patient, thinking time will develop change, etc.
I was full of shit. Too much talent for this shit to be happening this much. Remember when we were all predicting shootouts? When basically we all talked about Cutler & Co. putting up 30+ a game to win some of them?
All crap. And that starts at the top, right down to the sideline and the field.
            Fire his ass.

          • SC Dave

damn Dave, cut the rest… there you go…

Just don’t talk about the “talent” and blame trestman. Except whatever part he had in banking on a career backup level QB as our “franchise”.

          • Scott W.

            Its starts with Trestman.
            We do have talent.
I know Cutler is awful. He is not talent, he’s cancer, and I think it infects the others on the field.
He and Trestman both should walk backwards to get their checks this week.

          • SC Dave

Totally agree. The signature failure of Emery would be to not understand that he erred in extending Cutler.

        • SC Dave

And the coach killer will destroy whoever we get next. His record is perfect so far.

          Cutler HAS TO GO.

      • Scott W.

I think they do, and it’s a damned dark shadow at that.

    • Big Mike

fuck anyone who makes excuses for this shit show

      • SC Dave

That’s it, right there, This franchise sucks, and we watch one far superior in a hick town in Wisconsin kick our ass. Why?

BECAUSE WE KEEP BUYING A GROSSLY INFERIOR PRODUCT.

  • CanadaBear

You know when you’re watching Bears games and the other team just seems so much better? Their receivers are always open and ours are covered like blankets? Do all our players suck or do we need more imagination calling both sides of the ball? Coaching is huge in football and we seem to be coming up short. Not hating on PE because overall I think he’s done OK but he leaves massive holes on the roster. FUCK!

    • RenoBear

Glad it’s not just me. Especially the other teams receivers being wide open while ours are never open apparently. Or maybe Cutler never sees them. Because he locks on to one guy. Like a ten year old kid playing Madden football on an xbox

      • Bernsy

I don’t usually call out officials but the patriots held on every play. Revis could have been called on every single down. Browner did it twice in one play against Bennett…..
it was bad. The kind of bad where the bears get a letter from the league to apologize

        • SC Dave

I will grant that is seems the Patriots learned a little from last season’s Seahawks,

          • Bernsy

As well they should, if you’re not cheating you’re not trying

        • CanadaBear

Bad matchup to start with and then once the refs went old school, it was a really bad matchup. Their CB’s are bigger and more physical and their safeties are professional grade. Our CB’s are munchkins (Jennings) or rookies. Nevermind about our safeties.

        • RenoBear

I can see that, definitely. Home cookin for the patsies, shocker there. The refs didn’t call much of anything till it got outta hand

    • BerwynBomber

Brady, like Rodgers and PManning, is extremely quick in his decision-making and at going through his progressions. Hence, they tend to “throw guys open” as much as their receivers have huge separation. My take at least.

      • Bernsy

Bomber, guys were uncovered all day. We run a soft zone and the pats thrive against soft zones using their TE and crossing routes.
Brady didn’t have to “throw anyone open” all game

        • SC Dave

Stop making excuses that OUR QB IS THE ONLY ONE who does not find guys open.

          • Bernsy

Dave, I’m discussing Brady with Berwyn Bomber, what are you talking about?

          • SC Dave

You were talking about Brady finding guys open, I thought. Look at how many times he gets rid of the ball within two seconds to someone. And compare it to Cutler.

Do our “great weapons” have such a harder time getting open, or is it about the QB *finding* them?

Shit, I don’t know, or I’d go apply at Halas hall

          • Bernsy

Trestman 2013 and 2014 are very different. The absence of quick hitting crossing routes, slants and outs is disturbing.
pats O scheme is incredibly consistent and designed incredibly well.
Brady can “throw guys open” because I’ve seen him do it with precision. On 31 completions out of 36 attempts today he didn’t have to do that once.

          • SC Dave

Aaron Kromer is OC this season, and Cutler is not in a contract year.

Not necessarily causes for the difference between 2013 and 2014, but certainly correlations.

      • SC Dave

I said last week that Cutler does not think fast enough to be better than average, and today is another perfect illustration of it.

And again, Waffle will jump on this as the “dumbest post ever” despite the mountain of evidence that supports my point of view. But that’s fine. Like Jay, he is who he is.

    • SC Dave

Other than Forte, Fuller, and Gould, the players suck. Well, maybe O’Donnell.

      • BerwynBomber

Young’s been good as a pass rusher and Bennett and the O-line have played well this year. I also think Jennings is still solid, though his INT totals were a bit misleading a couple of years back. And Ratliff has shown Pro Bowl-like flashes at times. Just doesn’t maintain them, which is not a huge surprise.

        • SC Dave

Sorry… should have specified OFFENSIVE players.

Ratliffe has been strong, Fuller obviously, Young, and shit, even Paea has looked okay.

  • Trac

How does a fan move on from today’s loss? I don’t think you can. All you can do is wait until next spring. Selah!

    • Big Mike

Putting more emphasis on the fact that the offseason is where the NFL really hits it out of the park. Every team is a super bowl winner in the offseason. Debates rage on and on about players who will eventually end up on someones PRACTICE SQUAD. Very disappointed in the Bears results this year. Say what you want. I will be shunned by the group… But Lovie Smith never had this much talent and crapped the bed. He got more out of what he had than Trestman could dream of.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

Are guys seriously pining for the Lovie days? If Lovie was still here we still would have lost today. The talent on D is just not there, and Lovie would not be able to help out the O. We would still have gotten our asses kicked. This is like that lonely night thinking about passed girlfriends, you guys are only looking at the bright spots of the past and not remembering the absolute shit that happened. Go watch a Tampa Bay game, come back and tell me that is what you actually want

        • CanadaBear

Nah! Nobody really wants Lovie back. We just want to poop on Nessman for a while.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

thank god, i thought i was going to have to get a group together and start doing interventions.

        • Big Mike

Not pining for Lovie. But I never felt this disgusted with a single one of his teams. Had he been able to find a decent OC, the club would be ahead if where it is now.

          • CanadaBear

True but how many mulligans can you give a guy?

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

the D would still suck. and we would have a couple more 3rd round safeties

          • CanadaBear

Pretty sure the D would be better than this. But we would still suck moose cocks.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

you probably just don’t remember or want to remember being this disgusted, just look at some of those teams – 2004, 2007, 2009, 2011. all awful teams.

          • Big Mike

More a function of talent. This group is just poorly coached and under performing

    • SC Dave

Yeah. Season over in mid-October. How far we’ve fallen. Bring back Lovie? (I keed, maan, I keed)

      • CanadaBear

        Kinda!

  • Big Mike

I saw this tweet. Bellichik vs Trestman, is like Ali vs my cat.

    • Trac

That would be animal abuse. More like putting a dying dog out of its misery.

    • SC Dave

Brady vs. Cutler, and I might agree. Swap QBs and it would be every bit as bad the other way.

      • CanadaBear

You’d have to switch coaches too.

  • ChiBears34

For the most part, I usually just read (not write) on this blog because the comments from everyone is for the most part “spot on.” After today’s thrashing, I am not sure I want to support the Bears anymore in 2014. Unless there are some major changes from the top to bottom. I have followed the Bears since the late 70s and I can not remember a team with this much talent execute so poorly. Unfortunately I live outside of Washington, DC and I have to go sit at some sports bar and feel very stupid wearing a Bears jersey each week. I agree with some of the earlier comments, Chicago Bears fans deserve way better. Need to cut our losses with Cutler, he will always be middle of the road and Urlacher was 100% correct on his latest assessment of Cutler and his elite salary. Disgusted and disappointed in 2014.

  • BearDown100393

It takes more than physical talent and loud mouth bravado to win at the NFL level. Where is the heart?

  • Big Mike

If you don’t think it is coaching, you’ve never played. The atmosphere, the tone, the game plan, the discipline, comes from the coach. Bears have the talent. But they were just violated by a superior coached team. All three phases. Not just game plan, but discipline that starts in the offseason.

    • SC Dave

Absolutely agree. Cutler throws ball in the dirt on thrid down on the first possession without even looking AND IS NOT BENCHED IMMEDIATELY. Gotta blame that on the coaches for sure.

      Clausen here on out.

      • Bernsy

Dave it was a designed screen on 3rd and 20. A designed play that was sniffed out.

        • SC Dave

Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Luck (hell, maybe Ryan, Rivens, Flacco, Stafford, …) would have at least LOOKED for something else.

          • Bernsy

Dave, watch the tape. Its a screen to forte that was predictable as much as it was poorly executed. There is one place to go with that ball and it was blown up. Throwing it away is the right moveonly move

      • Big Mike

that play wasn’t awful. but locking in on a particular receiver for whatever reason is HS. Cutler did it at least three times.

  • SC Dave

Fuck this ranshcise. Go Packers! (my mom was 15 years smarter than me for sure).

    • Trac

I will overlook this moment of weakness Dave. Too much.

      • SC Dave

Thanks Trac, but I’m this >< close to giving up. FIFTY FUCKING YEARS of this shit.

    • Big Mike

      Fuck the Packers

  • BillW

Saw this coming last year. Detailed my reasoning then and a few times since. Never been sadder to be right and see others come to the same conclusion as I thought you would. But that doesn’t bother me.

Three long time blog contributors are now gone and will be missed by many. Since I was mentioned by all three I can’t help but conclude I am part of the problem.

Hope they come back. I know you guys miss them.

    • SC Dave

I think the problem is the team, not you.

      • tobijohn

        Exactly…

  • Thomas Jones

Say what you want about offense — and I agree we expected so much more on this side of the ball — but watching the Eagles and Cards play definitely makes you realize how important defense is. I am as critical of Cutler as I can be, but how do you expect him to react when the offense starts slow and the defense just rolls over. Fuck that.

  • wreckinball

Trestman is toast they are a joke

    • SC Dave

I would guess you are right. And whoever comes in next will go down under Cutler as well. After all, there will be “another offense he has to learn” to crutch him through the next coach he sees fired.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    this game sucked!!!

1st. it is not an excuse when someone points out that the NE DBs were allowed to molest our receivers all over the field. The NFL made the rules, and today the Refs decided not to call by the rules, and it benefited NE who play man coverage.

2nd. It is extremely apparent that our D sucks, from the line to the safeties. We do not have the talent.
2a. DLine got no pressure. they did not win any battles. and were shoved around in the run game
2b. DJW is old and lost several steps.

    • SC Dave

Our linebackers are categorically awful. And how WRONG is that in Chicago?

  • AlbertInTucson

If last week was “Unacceptable” What in the world is this week?

    • SC Dave

Time for certain players to shut their fucking mouths, look in the mirror, and decide whether they was to be good, or just earn their millions and disappear.

In the end, the only real losers are those idiots in the world that call ourselves fans.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

sounds like you need to find a different team Dave. I would never consider fans to be losers, some are idiots, but rooting for a team and having hope in no way makes us losers.

        • SC Dave

Maybe so. Fifty years of the garbage product that is the Chicago Bears is about enough. To quote Cheesy: “The Bears still suck.”

  • AlbertInTucson

The screaming didn’t work last week. Maybe Tresty should get them all together for a rousing chorus of Cum By Yah…?

  • Philfromsatx

Wow. How terrible was this. At least it was so bad that son and I were able to switch gears and start rooting for Jay to throw more picks – to underscore the obvious – and we didn’t have to get so upset as earlier in the season when we still had a whiff of optimism. The bloom is off the rose with Trestman’s play calling, and the jury is in with Tucker (Guilty!) and also the one name I haven’t heard called out much – Joe Decamillis – thanks Joe for turning our best-in-the-nfl special teams into the worst – in one season no less. What an unmitigated disaster in all phases. But imo the one person who should take the biggest blame here is Jay Cutler. He has regressed, badly, and is at the root of the problems on offense – problems which should not be there given solid to great players at nearly every position on O. I would bench him now and see how the Pickle Man does, and we need to start gearing up for who we can use our sadly high first round pick on for the future at that position (or a high cost free agent although we know how that worked out for us last time). To stick with Cutler now is madness. He’s done, we’ve all seen enough.

WHAT A WASTE OF A SEASON.

    • SC Dave

Where in SA aer you, Phil? I used to live up NW, of De Zavala, and then in Castle Hills.

      • Philfromsatx

Not far from where you used to be, Deerfield area on Heubner. Same house for 21 years now – and next year will be my 20th year on NFL Ticket – IF I renew. (Of course I will – I’m a Bear fan, through thick and thin! This is really thin though isn’t it?)

        • SC Dave

It certainly is, compadre. It certainly is.

I lived in SA from late 82 through end of 93. The best time was when we smoked Dallas in 85. Still my favorite Bears game ever.

        • SC Dave

Oh, and by the way, is it still a once-in-a-lifetime event to make all the lights from I-10 to Bandera on Wurzbach? (yes, I did it once!)

  • BearDown100393

The conversation that must happen to begin the bye week, cribbed from Apollo 13….
George McCaskey: Let’s look at this thing from a… um, from a standpoint of status. What do we got on the football team that’s good?
    [pause]
Phil Emery: I’ll get back to you, George.

    • SC Dave

      Matt Forte

      • Trac

It’s time to trade the best player on the roster for a Hershall Walker like trade. I don’t see any other way to get this team moving in the right direction.

        • FantuzPhysics

What do you ask for to get Forte? 3 1st rounders? The man is that good no?

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

NO ONE would make that deal. RBs are not that valuable in the league today.

          • FantuzPhysics

I agree. Not worth even considering it. I think the better move is to get rid of Tucker/DeCamilis now and start scouring the ranks for D/ST coord…We could use more picks though.

          • CanadaBear

You’d be lucky to get a 2nd rounder for him. I agree how good he is but the RB position is so devalued we would get raked over the coals.

  • BerwynBomber

Rodgers/Brees as the JV version of the annual Brady/Manning game?

  • Trac

i don’t get why some of the guys quit. Not even any ranting like we had with Lovie’s last couple of years with the team?

Personally I’ve been feeling the passionless dark cloud come over this blog for quite some time now. I think deep down, evra one knew what was coming but nobody wanted to admit it. For me when we traded for Cuttler, I didn’t like it. I didn’t like it because we mortgaged the farm on him and trading for him changed our teams focus from a hard nosed defensive squad to a crapshoot roll of the dice on an unknown commodity. Well boys, we crapped out it seems. The reason why I loved this team when neckbeard was here was because he finally earned the chance to supplant Grossman and I thought his gutsy heady play was enough for us to keep getting better as a team. We were so dam close.

Well, 6 or 7 years later, we blew it. Plain and simple. This team went the wrong direction. We never should have traded for Cuttler. Trading for Cuttler has this franchise on the rocks. Again.

    • SC Dave

Yup. Glitchy strikes again, even from the grave. But *keeping* Cutler is on Emery all the way. Last year was, by all evidence thus far, a mirage. Jay is exactly who we know is he is.

And I feel bad for Matt. He deserves better.

      • Trac

Oh and Orton had his typical 10 of 17 for 238 yards and a not so modest 4 TD’s. I’ll take that kinda production any day with a smash mouth Chicago Style Defense. After beating the Jets 43-23, Kyle Orton has the Bills at 5-3 and in the thick of the playoff race.

        • SC Dave

Kyle and two first round picks for… hmm…

          • can we at least be honest and say that we would’ve wasted those 1st round picks we traded away?

          • Trac

Do you remember when Drake got escorted out of the building? I could be wrong but I think Lovie was really pissed that he put together that Cutty trade against Lovie’s wishes.

          • CanadaBear

That’s like when Wanny traded for Mirer. Horrible trade but Wanny would have fucked up the pics.

          • SC Dave

Most likely true, I’ll give you that.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

He did that with absolutely ridiculous field position all day because the Bills Defense has some fortitude.

          • Trac

Duh! That’s what a good defense gives you. My point exactly. I’d rather have a good defense and a decent game manager. It’s time to stick a fork in the Cutty project. Give him decent weapons, trade a few studs for defensive value.

    • Scott W.

Oh, all of that, Trac, sir. Every word.

  • i don’t see what the big deal is. you can’t go 14-5 without losing 5 times.

    • SC Dave

      lol… that’s the spirit, Pollyanna!

  • Trac

If I’m Phil Emery, Cutler, Marshall and Forte are on the trading block. This team needs the right Chemistry because its obvious that there are too many chefs and not enough dishwashers on this team.

    • FantuzPhysics

Forte is the best all around back in the league…would be too costly for anyone to trade for and he is the real face of the franchise now…no way he is gone.

      • BerwynBomber

Agreed. Moreover, we would never get equal value for him. RBs aren’t respected as much in today’s NFL and the Trent Richardson trade would have every GM in the league bidding low.

    • CanadaBear

The trade deadline is Tuesday afternoon. Pretty unlikely we trade any of them.

    • SC Dave

Forte is absolutely the guy we should not trade under any circumstances.

  • wreckinball

Goodbye Marc? Anyone remember the goodbye Abe days

  • CanadaBear

Not to rain on anyone’s parade but we aren’t getting rid of Cutler. Nobody will trade for him and we aren’t eating all that guaranteed money. He’s here for 2 more years.

  • FantuzPhysics

    Resisting looking at mock drafts…

  • BillW

I thought about trades too but won’t happen.

Looking at the reality of the situation nothing different is going to happen this year.

Here’s what I think should happen though it’s unlikely –
First, Trestman has to go. Don’t fall for any meaningless improvement that might happen in the second half. It would be a mirage like the occasional success jauron and even wanny had

Find your qb of the future this draft Let him sit and learn from Cutlers mistakes. Seriously that could be very valuable.

Cutler is here two more years then gone.

Emery will not go down with Trestman I predict. Nor will he go down with Cutler. He will correctly say he believed cutler could be fixed and he was simply wrong

Trestman goes not due to cutler but due to the team being soft.

    • CanadaBear

Unless PE has a couple of shitty drafts, I agree with ya. Cutler isn’t horrible. He’s slightly above avg. We’re just hideously over paying him. Same with the washed up hillbilly DE except he’s below avg and hideously over paid.

      • BillW

The thing I haven’t read about yet is his fumble. He had the ball tucked in his left arm and then took it out like he was trying to shovel pass or get an incompletion. I don’t think think anyone can correct that horrible decision making under pressure. That’s Emerys “excuse”. Cutlers numbers are up showing Trestman improved him but no one can stop his panic plays.

  • wreckinball

Trestman is gone Cutler will stay one more year. If next year more of the same they will just cut him

    • BillW

I think the contract says 2016 is guaranteed if he is on the team next year. Not sure what the hit is either year but presumably large

      • BillW

Whatever the deal is I’m sure we’ll read a lot about it this week.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

yep if cutler is on the team after march of next year, 2016 is guaranteed. 2015 cap hit is $16.5M and 2016 is $17M

        • BillW

So what happens if he is cut after this year? What’s guaranteed then?

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

next years 16.5M and approximately 1M each year after that against the cap because of the signing bonus.

        • NewBearInTown

Have to track down the articles I read explaining the deal when it was signed, but the jist of it is that we are pretty much stuck with Cutler for three years. We could bench him for a rookie if we drafted someone better, but cutting him would be prohibitively expensive.

In particular, cutting him this year puts his entire signing bonus as a cap hit next year, which would be something insane like $40M.

I don’t personally believe Cutler needs to be cut. I think the market forced us to overpay him, but we could be a lot worse off. Either way, for those who want him gone… its not going to happen.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

it spells it out pretty good here http://overthecap.com/player/jay-cutler/130/

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

If we get rid of him our best bet financially would be to trade him after this year. then we would only be on the hook for 2015 -$4M, 2016 -$3M, 2017- $2M, and 2018 – $1M.

          • BillW

I thought emery made the right decision signing him and given general insanity with qb contracts they paid going rate. But it didn’t pay off

  • BillW

Even though fans may want to see firings and benchings as “punishment” it is still up to the management to put them in the best position to win each week. Benching cutler doesn’t do that. I really don’t see any lineup changes not related to injury

  • wreckinball

Bench Shea DJ Allen and play the replacements WTF happened to Santonio Holmes ? He used to be decent

  • wreckinball

Cutler doesn’t go through the progressions like the top QBs

Brady is on his 3rd option while Jay has his head down about to get sacked

  • wreckinball

    Double check pulled a hammy

    • BerwynBomber

Yep and threw his first pick in six games.

  • wreckinball

    Who is the cheese backup?

  • wreckinball

    Matt Flynn ? I think

  • WP4Life

Collins worth has a crush on Rogers

  • BillW

Quoting Trestman “I told the team I thought they played hard”

No word on what juice boxes were handed out but the snack was Gummy Bears.

    • RenoBear

      That….. Was pretty damn funny

  • BillW

So the cheese loses to a worse team record wise by about the same score

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

The defense gives up 44 points. FORTY FUCKING FOUR points…and the conversation is about Cutler?

    Holy sheeeit.

    • CanadaBear

      Dare I say historically bad.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

Easy to blame the QB and offense.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Boggles my mind – had to avoid all social media until 9pm to watch the game on NFL Rewind.
I swear I’m going to have Waffleopalypse of my own soon.
Brady throws as many touchdowns as incompletions – with 35 attempts!!!
And the onus on here is on the Offense? Am I not watching the same games?

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

hey – there were also comments reminiscing about Love. i don’t totally get it, but the offense was supposed to be nearly unstoppable this year, and hasnt come near expectations.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I agree on the let-down on offense. Totally inexcusable.
HOWEVER, when a guy goes 30-35, 5 tds and their TE catches 150 and 3…you would THINK that the topic of how utterly balls-less this Defense is would come up.
            That’s what’s blowing my mind.

          • CanadaBear

Other than the DL I think everyone expected the rest of the D suck ass. The DL certainly isn’t getting it done either. I think most of the guys have given up on the D so they aren’t bitching about them. Lots of crazy talk but it’s game day.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

someone got the ball rolling and you know how that goes. just grasping at straws trying to figure out ways to make the team better.

        • Trac

The Bears have an offensive minded head coach. The defense sucks, and the offense is nowhere near where it should be. The expectations were way higher on offense and as GM, you have to choose what side of the ball you want to focus on to build a team. It’s obvious to me that trying to go air Tresty is fools gold at this point, at least with this bunch of players. Like I said earlier, too many chiefs on this team, not enough indians. What a bunch of us are saying is that if your defense sucks and your prolific offense can’t get it together then a team has absolutely no chance of stringing together wins. This is why I thought drafting Fuller was short sighted. He is a good player but it was a mistake to fill a position that compliments a defense instead of selecting a player that builds a defense. C.J. Mosley was a player that you can build a defense around, it’s a philosophy that I think makes more sense. Cutler will never be worth the investment.

    • BerwynBomber

D sucked but O only scored 7 points when it mattered. The entire second half was basically garbage time.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

When it mattered? Was that before or after Brady’s 4th passing TD?

        • BerwynBomber

This was billed as an offense that could “win shootouts”. Did you watch the game? Did you see how feeble our O looked the entire first half except for one drive where an illegal contact saved our ass. We KNEW going into the season that the D would be challenged but we expected the O to be able to carry us. So far, that ain’t happening.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

44 points isn’t a shoot-out. That’s getting lined up against the wall, given a lit cigarette, and bang.

          • BerwynBomber

No one’s arguing the D sucked. But you seem to be taking umbrage with the fact that people are criticizing the O.

          • Bernsy

People are criticizing the QB only. Talking about trades….

          • BerwynBomber

It comes with the territory. As a QB you are generally judged by points and wins.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

            He’s not playing tennis, FFS.

          • BerwynBomber

            Huh?

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

It’s 22 guys out there. And the best we can do is talk about trading Cutler? Like two turnovers are what got this team blown off the fucking field? Seriously?

          • BerwynBomber

I don’t think it is the two turnovers but the huge investment in Cutler and the fact that the O, at best, has had sputtering success this year. Way too many three and outs. Frankly, they’ve been a disappointment. The D sucked ass, but again, the expectations were low on that side of the ball this year.

          • Bernsy

Just because the D is not giving up 500yds a game doesn’t mean they aren’t getting destroyed at every turn. Three teams have punted ONCE. Multiple QB’s have 3,4 and 5 TD games. We made Tannehill look like Brady and made Brady look like Brady playing against a high school team.

The offense is disjointed right now. The D has had all joints removed. That tends to happen when Demontre Hurst, Al Louis Jean and Brock Vereen are all on the field at the same time with Darryl Sharpton, Shea McClellin, Khaseem Greene and Ego Ferguson/Will Sutton.

          • BerwynBomber

            Yep, it’s bad all over.

          • Bernsy

i want it fixed like everyone else. I do think things will get better after the bye. I just don’t know if i will be able to listen or read any media for the next 2 weeks. People are starting to come apart at the seams.

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, I haven’t tossed aside all hope. The Cheese are still vulnerable once you get past Rodgers (I believe GB now owns the worst run D in the league) and Rodgers himself looked mortal tonight. But the team that might be the biggest hurdle is Detroit. They seem to be winning games under Caldwell that they used to lose under Shorts.

          • BerwynBomber

Though I would argue that Forte, Bennett and even the O-line had a decent game. The only sustained pressure the Pats got on us was right near the end of the first half.

          • Bernsy

I hear you Bomber but people are starting to revise the history of this season.

          • Trac

Look, we play in a division that has two teams with high powered offenses that also happen to have defenses playing way better than ours. If you can’t compete in your division, you’re not going to win many games. People are saying that at least with Lovie our Defense and Specials kept us in games. Cutler has been a bad marriage for this team. It just hasn’t worked and our defense and offense are horrible now. The season is shot and since this team is getting worse, not better, everything is fair game for criticism.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Nope, the Offense looked like shit, but I just caught up on a few hundred posts with the majority blaming Trestman, talking about Lovie Days, and how much Cutler would be worth as trade bait or less.

          • CanadaBear

The O didn’t get it done. The D is incredibly bad. ST’s ain’t special. Coaching at all levels is horrible. That or the players are horrible. I think it’s a lot of both.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

there is a group that wants Cutler gone, i personally at this time don’t care either way. Some mentioned cutting him, so i listed his contract to show that it was not fiscally responsible to cut him, and if they were going to keep on the route of getting rid of him, it should be in a trade. nothing annoys me more than someone just spouting out ‘just cut him’ when they don’t realize the impact.

          • Bernsy

            uh…51

    • Bernsy

I’m the new guy and even i can’t take what transpired on this board throughout today. It’s hard to take trade talk seriously about a guy at the top of all of the stats boards. The offensive unit needs attention/cohesion badly but it’s simply annoying to read the content from posters here. I’m sticking with the Hawks. Buh Bye.

      • Trac

News alert. The Bears need to rebuild. It has to start with the defense in my opinion and you can do that two ways. 1) Trade players and adopt the 3 year plan or 2) Keep your players and go the 5 year route. Take your pick.

    • Big Mike

Cutler shit the bed. He’s been in diapers almost all year. Defense was projected to be mediocre at best. Patriot’s defense is one of the worst in the league. Offense needed to produce 14-21 points in the first half. Special teams was putrid. i don’t even know where to start or stop.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Boy, if our offense has to put up 52 pts a game this year, then yeah, Jay’s just not the guy.
        Holy shit.

        • Big Mike

Works out to 28-42 points but what I was trying to say is the team is built around offense. The offense has to be prepared to produce at the start of the game. 30 pts a game should be the target. Defense is no worse than I expected.

        • Trac

Look at every team winning games now Brownie. Any guess as to what they have in common? Yep, solid defenses with capable to good offenses. Cutty has been given every consideration and he has more weapons than any other qb in the league. It’s a failed philosophy my man.

        • Bruce Conrad

Look, if your offense is on the GD field for just a little bit, instead of 3 and out, the D does not give up 52 pts right? Make first downs. Brady did. Cutler didn’t and doesn’t get a free pass anymore. He has proven he cannot make anything happen in big games.

    • Bernsy

      51

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

One TD was a fumble return. I was trying to be fair and balanced.

        • Bernsy

Ah, the 10yd kickoff return followed by penalty to end up at the 5…yes, i do recall that.

  • BearDown100393

At least Lamarr Houston felt good about himself recording his 1st sack as a Chicago Bear…..

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    Jeff Retweeted the following.
    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Mistake. RT @AdamHoge: Phil Emery and Marc Trestman will have a press conference tomorrow at 12:30 CT. #Bears

does anyone else think we might be having a mid season firing of Tucker?

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I don’t doubt it in the least. Not sure if it’s going to wake up the Bored and the Useless, but at this point, I guess the BT is looking to show some sign of life.

      • BillW

That’s just conjecture or hope on jeffs part. . I’d be shocked if tucker was fired. . Trestman is too soft to do that. And if Emery does it then it’s an indictment on Trestman. And I doubt Emery would put him in that position.

I think Emery had this presser scheduled days ago as part of the bye week. A “state of the team” mid year thing.

    • BerwynBomber

What does the “Mistake” refer to?

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

not sure what that refers too.

    • Big Mike

      Would not be a surprise

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

You know, if I were Trestman, and I’m not – my hair is way fuller…I would’ve walked into that room and handed the game ball to Lamarr Houston. Because I’m an ass. And because that bullshit attitude – celebrating a sack on a backup QB when the game has been over for basically the last 20+ minutes – is what should never be acceptable on this team.

    • SC Dave

      This, or any other, team.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

On the plus side…the Packers got blown out too.
I’d give a shit if Detroit hadn’t snuck one out this morning.

  • SC Dave

From da shill on Da Site:

“The 31 points the Bears allowed in the second quarter tied a team record for that period that was set in their only loss in 1985 when the Dolphins compiled 31 in a 38-24 Monday night victory in Miami.”

Gee, I sure feel better now, don’t you?

  • BillW

Posse- I’m late to the conversation but I just saw someone post what I was thinking. It’s cause and effect or conditional probability. . GIVEN the defense is mediocre at best we need the offense to sustain drives. Especially when going against a top qb. . GIVEN the way the offense was built and given the qb is being paid like a top player it should be expected that they put up points and keep the defense off the field. They are failing miserably.

Don’t be confused by the score. . The offense did zero (actually negative) until the game was out of reach and ne began to play softer.

The defense needs help from the offense. That’s the way the team was buult. Very uncharacteristic of past bears teams but reality

    • BillW

Don’t misunderstand. I didn’t expect them to win. My expectations were low. I wanted sustained drives and they didn’t do until the game was essentially over. . After 38-7 they managed to ‘beat’ NE 16-13. Trestman probably thinks that’s a good sign.

  • Jack Lacan

It’s time to seriously consider using the season tickets for book markers…
