Thanksgiving Day Football Thread

I know many of you think the Packers, with Rodgers, are a greater threat to the Bears postseason hopes. But that should not matter. With the Lions owning the tiebreaker, the Bears need a one game lead on them and that might be too difficult for this defense to pull off. Root for Green Bay today.

And as always, I give thanks for those of you who’ve spent time on this site over the years. I love this site because of you.

Feel like gambling on Thanksgiving Day? Drink six beers, select a member of your family and tell them exactly how you feel about them. Or bet on sports. I make my three picks for the day after the jump.

PACKERS +6 OVER LIONS

  • A loss would essentially end the Packers postseason hopes as they’d need to make up two games with Detroit over the final four. Matt Flynn wasn’t spectacular against the Vikings but he was professional and I think Mike McCarthy will feel comfortable running his offense with him under center. Not sure Packers have enough firepower to win but think they’ll keep it closer than the six points.

RAIDERS +9 OVER COWBOYS

  • I have watched the Cowboys a bunch this season. I’m not sure they’re currently nine points better than anyone.

STEELERS +3 OVER BALTIMORE

  • When these games are important, when there is a lot at stake, they are crazy close affairs and points are hard to come by. The winner of this one will be in the pole position for the six-seed in the AFC tournament and a pain in the ass for their opponents in December. Joe Flacco was complaining about the wildcat this week. Large Benjamin was not. I’ll take Steelers to win outright, 16-10.
