Sunday almost broke me boys. I disappeared for a couple of days because…well….I behaved poorly during that game on sunday. I was screaming and swearing the likes of which hadn’t been heard since Cutty went down in the NFC Title game and when Urlacher got tackled by Rodgers because i fucking knew that Hanie would fuck it up if Urlacher didn’t score…and i was right.
I listened to the rant and I think the Rev and I would be absolute magic together watching a game.
My hopes rest with Trestman calling plays that get the ball QUICKLY into the hands of some of the biggest mismatchmakers in the league right now. Trestman’s only job is to call plays that get the fucking ball out of McCown’s hands fucking ASAP.
The defense will be the death of me this year and I’ve chosen to roll with the punches and accept what comes.
    bear down?

    • johnnywad

Same here Waffle. I’ve managed to get my shit together though and you will too. I think the Bears will hang in there til Cutty gets back. I haven’t seen McCown play much but he looked fine Sunday. Felt pressure, made some good decisions, (other than taking a sack on the last play of the game, throw the ball son.). Bostic showed some serious badassery here and there. That kid made some tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage that surprised me. He’s got a good nose for the ball on traffic. We’re gonna miss Briggs but I’m not sure the defense can net worse results than it has.
And here’s what I’m living on . . . . Imagine the joy you’ll feel if the Bears, beat all to hell as they are, find a way to beat the Pack. I’ll take Tuesday off. I swear.

whoops, this was mean to be posted to the main thread… for the rev.

I foresee his rants will becoming more and more infrequent, more and more jumbled and disconnected, until…. silence.

The jeff will commission some of us to go get him… up into the depths of lake milawi… into… the heart of darkness.

I love the live chat. I love the comment section and if Jeff hires who I think he hires, you’ll have a writer that’s not only up to date on twitter like me, but a better writer and usually beats the beat writers on some stuff.

Jeff is gearing this blog up in the right direction. Enjoy gentlemen.

“My sense of it is, I always say the fans are apart of the team,” Saban said Thursday. “Everybody else should have the same sort of commitment. You don’t have to do the work all week, you don’t have to practice, you don’t have to come in at 7 in the morning and leave at 11 at night, you don’t have to do any of that stuff.”

    • MB30SD

I think him and kiffin are neck and neck… for me kiffin wins out as the biggest asshole in football. Irsay is doing his best to make it into the discussion lately.

      • Shady

I meant to share this with GP when he commented on Fran Tarkington going off on the Irsays…

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24137527/could-the-washington-redskins-become-the-washington-bravehearts

So it’s going to be the Bravehearts now? Are they going to shorten it to Braves or Hearts? ‘Cause if it’s Braves, after all this controversy and debating, you’re going to end up with fans chanting and tomahawking like they do in Atlanta? Ridiculous.

    • MB30SD

are you shitting me?!?! They’re actually changing it?

    • bearsfantillend

I have no real opinion about if the Redskins should change their name or not, when i hear Redskins my immediate thoughts are of the NFL team and not of Native Americans. My beef is with the so called need for people to be Politically Correct. There are far more pressing issues in the world today, like poverty, war, and a zombie apocalypse than offending anyone with a word. A PC world is actually an oversensitive and boring world. People need to chill out when it comes to PC. Case in point, i was at a Cardinal ballgame this summer and me and a friend were discussing the development of players, and i said ‘Rushing some players to the majors can actually retard their development’. To me it seemed like a pretty innocuous statement, however the lady sitting directly behind me flip out because she heard me use the word “retard” and assumed i was was referencing a mentally handicapped person and gave me 5 minute speech on how it was offensive. Unfortunately i am the type of person that when confronted with such a PC blowhard, that i try even harder to be more insensitive. So when it comes to the Redskins, if i were Snyder, i would probably fight to keep the name, or change it to something a little more insensitive like the Washington Feather Heads, Washington Bow Benders, or Washington Tee Pee Creepers. But i am not Snyder so it does not really matter, he should do what he wants it is his team and his money.

Didn’t we all grow up learning ‘Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me’

      • Trac

Ha. I am staring a petition to ask the “Tribe” to change their name from the Blackfeet to the Redfeet. How dare they!

      • Cormonster

Ha ha! I went to college at Wisconsin – Madison in the early 90’s when PC and speech codes were out of control. “Hate speech” was any opinion that was not socialist in nature. It was intimidating at first, but then I started having fun with it. Now I relish those confrontations. I throw it back at those ass douches twice as hard and they don’t know how to react.

  • MB30SD

btw, any of you guys see Blackfish last night? Thoughts?

          • MB30SD

Jes. Better than running around for 1/2 an hour without so much as an enemy sighting, only to be killed by a fucking jet in the last 2 minutes of the match.

            Boooooooring.

    • johnnywad

Freakin unbelievable. I especially like the parents saying they use this as a tool for dealing with bullies. Yeah, cuz the bullies definitely won’t be the MMA kids right?
I was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at 13. I competed in tournaments all over the Midwest. Won a few, lost a few. We never spent any time actually hurting each other in class. Anytime we sparred, it was in full protective gear without full contact. Yet, I still learned discipline and self defense. Nobody I went to school with ever fucked with me. Not once. I am not a fighter, wasn’t then either. Never needed to be. If these assholes are looking to teach their children selfdefense, control and discipline, they’re doing it all wrong. And their kids are going to be fucked up.

      • MB30SD

yeah, just badness all around… and my first thought was actually about CTE in those kids.

The thing is that we get used to being around our people and you forget that in general, out there, ‘people’ are again in general, usually as dumb as a bag of claw hammers. smh

        • Cormonster

…and those people are the ones reproducing at a faster rate.

  • Maddbearfan

The Rev is right about one thing..the websites to watch the game this year are really being fucked with. Last year I watched almost the whole season without a prob on the free sites. Even went out and bought a new 23″ IPS monitor (highly recommend it) and revived the old desktop to use it on and the streaming is really being screwed with this season. Like he says freezes..bogs..shuts off the whole gambit. Had to resort to watching the games on TV…which is the only time I ever watch TV anymore, because we got lied to about cable when it first came out they said fewer commercials..now it’s almost more commercials than shows and we have to pay through the ass for it….

    • bearsfantillend

really what is the fun in that. there is nothing better than holding a fart in just to let it rip in an elevator or your bosses office. or to go out crop dusting the cubicles at the office.

The report then stated the officer immediately shouted, “Oust,” the German command for release, and after a few seconds, Max released his bite and ran behind the officer. The officer said he quickly exited with the K-9 officer after.

hmmmmm… I zee…. let me azk you zomthing… vaz da little boy who vaz bitten… jewish maybe?

      • Cormonster

The article refers to the dog as “the k-9 officer”. The “minor” injury to the kid required surgery because he lost a chunk of his leg. Another officer had to pry the dog’s jaws off the kid. It was the kid’s fault because he moved. The Mom was cool with the situation, according to the cop. They did another drug bust “simulation” AFTER this incident. The cops were planting drugs on 10 year old kids. I’ve seen a German Sheppard attack up close, and it is scary. I guess this was supposed to be a field trip and “learning experience”. What dafuq?

        • MB30SD

just dumb maings. Dumb people. seems like gov gigs are a magnet to the dumb and lazy…. yeeeeees, it’s a generalization. and yeeeees it true a lot of the time. (have you ever tried to get anything done efficiently and quickly at the DMV? Exactly)

        • AlbertInTucson

          “Minor Injury”?

That would seem to fall under my definition of “Minor Surgery” which I define as

“Any surgery not being performed on ME.”

      • AlbertInTucson

Certainly not to condone or endorse that act of stupidity but, for a while, where I worked, we’d get a bomb threat and TPD would bring the bombs dog thru the building. I once chatted up an officer/handler and found out that

        A) Due to breeding issues in this country, a least a few years ago, a lot of the German Shepherds have actually been imported from Germany and, the ones they brought thru our building also only responded to commands in German. Whether that was because they began their training in Germany or is a precaution that anyone they’re chasing down can’t just tell them to “Sit” or “Rollover” I do not recall.

        B) Yes, the same dogs that can sniff for expolsives or drugs will, given the proper command, try and tear a limb off.

        C) As seen on the news here, the prison system, at least in Arizona, has now actually trained dogs to detect, believe it or not, CELL PHONES.

By the the way, if you’re ever around one that’s sniffing for explosives and he suddenly just up and goes into a sitting position, I would leave the area, quickly, because that means he’s smells something he’s been trained to detect.

        • Cormonster

Don’t know much about bomb sniffing “k-9 officers”, but drug-sniffing dogs are highly inaccurate. In many cases, the “officers” have more false positives than actual detection. It’s because the handlers, the ranking officer over the dog, is usually a prick thug who gives the dog signals to “alert” it. Sadly most of these yahoos are poorly trained and so are the dogs.

    • AlbertInTucson

Yes, “The Pits” for fans, but an absolute necessity for the Bears this week.

With all due respect to the Rev, you really expected MORE in MALAWI..?

For some strange reason, I actually like Joe Buck calling baseball. He has a soothing-excitement about him that really clicks for the Cardinal games.
However – pair Buck with Taintman and it takes every ounce of energy I have to not reach through my monitor/TV and ‘clonk’ their heads together three stooges style.

    • bearsfantillend

What you smokin Wiggins! Joe Buck is so damn boring. no excitement no emotion. there is a reason announcers like his father Jack, Bob Uecker, Vin Scully, and Harry Caray worked for so long. They were able to convey the game with an excitement and feeling that Joe just does not have. Those guys had a kind of poetry in there announcing of games, mainly because they all started in radio which forced them to bring a visual image to their listeners with there voices. I remember listening to Jack Buck all the time when i was younger and just being able to picture what was going on. Something announcers today don’t have to do.

    • AlbertInTucson

Buck botched explaining the call on the last play, saying that Umpire, Jim Joyce, made the call because he thought Craig would have scored on the play had he not tripped over Middlebrooks.

      It ain’t so, Joe.

For Mr. Buck’s, and “screaming ‘Robbery’ on Twitter” Red Sox Nation’s edification, whether Craig would have scored on the play or not is totally irrelevant.

An Obstruction Call automatically entitles the runner to the next base.

      Period.

It’s why they teach runners caught in a rundown to try and get the the fielder chasing with the ball to toss it, then quickly turn on him and try to run him down. If the runner collides with that guy in a rundown, he probably WOULD have been thrown because a 3rd fielder would still be waiting at the bag the runner was headed to but the obstruction call grants the runner that base.

A good rule because any rule that eliminates a “Judgement Call” by Umps (or Zebras) is a good rule.

To Joyce’s Credit, he made the call as soon as he saw Craig trip over Middlebrooks and the Home Plate ump SAW Joyce make that call which is why HE signaled safe and then pointed back to 3rd base, even tho’ the throw and the tag beat Craig at home by 10 or 15 feet.

Tonight, the Red Sox just threw away a SECOND game in this series. Literally.

    • Trac

Yikes, is his where we’ve sunk to? At the bottom of the dead sea discussing boring baseball announcers.

      Politics or Religion anyone?

I’m wondering if the Tai Mob are holding Irish in a basement somewhere. Either that or he’s recovering from food poisoning somewhere. I hate Tai food, I don’t know how he does it.

    Shaky Jake’s upset special:
Queens over Douche’s (see how I did that?)

    Trac’s Pick Three:
The Chief will roll the Brown.
Pussy Cat’s will beat the Cowboy in a close one.
Saints in a yawner over the Bills.
