Announcing the Darnell “Money” Mooney Shirt!

| October 12th, 2020

This year DBB is deepening our partnership with 26Shirts; becoming far more involved in shirt concepts/designs, especially when it comes to the Chicago Bears-specific ones. This collaboration is based on a Tweet from the Bears themselves.

——————–

Darnell Mooney has wowed the Bears since training camp opened and is one of the breakout stars of this rookie class. So without further delay, the Darnell “Money” Mooney shirt.

Simple. Cool. You can simply click the image above to order or follow THIS LINK to the 26Shirts site.

As with all 26Shirts attire, half the proceeds go to charity and this shirt will support my friends at the Windy Kitty Cafe in Chicago. Like many smaller non-profits, they are struggling mightily in the wake of Covid-19. Resources are not as available as they were seven months ago. We are specifically supporting their “Kitten Korner”. Here’s a note from Jenny, the founder, on their website:

It was a dream of mine to have a kitten nursery be a part of The Windy Kitty since before I opened! Kitten Korner is phase one of the up and coming Chicago Kitten Nursery, which will be an entirely different facility in Chicago. For now, we take in kittens that are not ready for the main lounge but young enough to start being socialized so that fosters have more room for neonatal kittens.

Why?

Kittens are the first to be euthanized in city shelters if they are still nursing. Not because people don’t care but because the resources to care for them overnight just aren’t there. I thought, why not become a resource so less orphan kittens die!? So here we are… In just over a year we’ve saved over 200 lives.

History

With your help we opened Kitten Korner in August 2018, just 8 months after opening our doors. Now it is a full on non-profit entity working in conjunction with The Windy Kitty and various rescues within Chicago.

So why not buy a cool shirt and support an amazing cause? And if you don’t want the shirt but still want to support the cause, you can do that HERE.

Support 26Shirts, Windy Kitty Cafe & Your Local Bar/Restaurant!

| April 3rd, 2020

These are difficult times for a lot of people.

But you can do things.

Here are three.

(1) Support the brilliant work of Del Reid and the folks at 26Shirts.

Every two weeks, the shirt changes. And a large percentage of the sales go to a worthy cause. This shirt’s cause:

Lucky McMahon is a wonderful 5 year old boy who was born premature at 33 weeks. So far in his life Lucky has required over 15 surgeries, and struggles with a complex medical history as a result. Lucky suffers from Hydrocephalus and Chiari Malformation, but what he really needs help with are his teeth. Lucky requires multiple teeth removed, crowns places, and cavities filled. Without the procedures Lucky’s current infection could worsen and prove fatal. Due to Lucky’s unique diagnoses, he requires anesthesia during his multiple procedures, and a dentist who is able to work with Lucky’s needs. Lucky’s mom Paula is fighting hard for her little boy, and has found a dentist to do his procedures, but she needs financial help to cover the cost. She thanks anyone who purchases a shirt to help her and her little boy!

(2) Give a few dollars to the Windy Kitty Cafe (or whatever animal shelter you support).

If you love cats, and I do, Windy Kitty Cafe is one of the most glorious places on earth. They recently established a kitten nursery and I got to watch about 8 kittens climb on my lady friend Sarah for a half hour. (See directly below.)

They are operating on a shoestring budget right now because they can’t get visitors in the door to help supplement their costs. But you can help. By CLICKING HERE. By giving them a few bucks.

Announcing the DBB/26 Shirts Chicago Official Tee-Shirt for the 2018 Season!

| September 3rd, 2018

It’s going to be a wild political season and the 2018 Chicago Bears have a chance to be the most exciting vintage in years. So DBB created a shirt combining both concepts. The shirt is being made by 26 Shirts Chicago and is selling for $24.95.

But $8 of every sale is going to benefit Windy Kitty Cafe, a cat shelter and nursery in Chicago. I’ve been very proud of the charitable work this site has done over the years and I’ve wanted to find something in the animal world that needed support.

The shirt is below. And it’s amazing. To purchase it, CLICK HERE.

Audibles From the Long Snapper: Miller & Hicks Shining This Summer, HoF Commentary, Kitties & More!

| August 7th, 2018

Three Quick Thoughts

  • This entire training camp is becoming about Anthony Miller. The Bears have not had an offensive rookie create this kind of summer buzz, around the entire league, in modern history. And if you think that’s an exaggeration, well, it’s not. When the Bears drafted Miller, a high-ranking personnel man in the league texted me one word: “Fuck.” In Trubisky-to-Miller, the Bears have an opportunity to develop one of those great quarterback/receiver combos all those other teams seem to routinely showcase.
  • Roquan Smith has not yet arrived in Illinois and yet inside linebacker has been one of the team’s strengths thus far due to the emergence of Nick Kwiatkoski as a viable option. But make no mistake about it. Kwik is not Roquan. They are not comparable athletes. And if Kwik is out there trying to cover in Green Bay Week 1, Aaron Rodgers will get Jimmy Graham lined up over him and pick him apart. At some point, the Bears and Roquan just need to suck it up and get this deal done.
  • One player who shouldn’t see a snap this entire preseason: Akiem Hicks. Simply put, he is the most important player on this defensive roster and his health is paramount to their success. And from all reports, he has been a dominant force in Bourbonnais. Why risk his health for the sake of reps he doesn’t need? Hicks was burnt out by the end of 2017 due to overuse and the defense reflected that. Without proven pass rushers on the edge, the Bears should value Hicks every bit as much as they do their young QB. Because he’s that important.

Urlacher Hall of Fame Speech

  • Thought Urlacher did a wonderful job on stage, especially with his lack of comfort when it comes to public speaking. Considering he had to share the stage with Ray Lewis, the Human Bullshit Machine, it was a refreshing to experience actual humility and grace.
  • I’ve never been an Urlacher devotee but I freely admit he’s the finest cover-2 middle linebacker in history and belongs in the Hall. And when I say I’m not a devotee, it doesn’t mean I don’t consider him a great player. I do. But from the Lovie Smith era, I still have him behind Peanut Tillman and Devin Hester.
