Get your championship sunday started right with a little throwback recipe. Oh to be young again.

    • CanadaBear

Holy Fuck Johnny, my heart started clogging up just watching it. NTM what a waste of Jack (and I hate JD). They cooked all the alcohol out of it. Those guys are all gonna be diabetics if they keep that up! Although candied bacon with maple syrup and brown sugar would be insanely good.

      • Zorba

It’s a man’s responsibility to find trouble as often as he can before he die’s.

      • Irish Sweetness

That used to kill me back in the day when I’d see them set up the sambucas or whatever … and then set the alcohol on fire!

It confused my alcoholic noggin I tells ya!

  • BearDown100393

I honestly hate the timeout bs along with the towels, cannon, viking horn and other crap.

I do like hearing Bear Down after touch downs. It symbolizes winning.

    • That Guy

To me, Bear Down is like an old timey Bing Crosby Chrismas carol. It’s an old-fashioned song from another era, and it’s just damned fun. A football team with a 1940s-era fight song is just… right.

  • Artoo

I can’t believe the Vikings and Eagles have made it this far. It looks a year of defenses. Would be interesting if they can repeat their success for next year.

    I still can’t believe it.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

Saints and Falcons had plenty of flaws. Vikings and Eagles are just better across the board. Though Drew Brees nearly overcame the Saints shortcomings single handedly.

Would have loved to see the Eagles with Wentz vs Patriots. Now that would have been a hell of a game.

    • BearDown100393

Well no, the Vikings are not going to repeat next season because they are not winning the NFCN division.

      • leftcoastdave

        What?

You muscling in on the most optimistic blogger position here?

CB, SC, this kid needs a talking to.

        • BearDown100393

          I expect to win.

          I do not excuse losing.

          • leftcoastdave

Tongue in cheek. I am accused of looking through rose colored glasses. I said the floor this year was 9 wins before Glennon proved a piker. I see a wild card possible but division a stretch.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Artoo! Hey man! How’s life?

      D-FENS!!

      • Artoo

Pretty cool. I have to admit. Check my site out when you get a chance. Lostdrifter.com

  • BearDown100393

Crisco Cops in Philly larding up the telephone poles to prevent idiots from climbing.

    What a strange town.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

      Will their tongues still freeze?

      • BearDown100393

No idea. Some idiot will experiment.

  • EnderWiggin

Not sure if he made an announcement on the last thread, but the Blogfather is doing an AMA on CHIReddit 6pm Monday.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

    That Malkovich piece was fun.

    • That Guy

Malkovich is a seriously good actor. Plus, he’s from downstate. You’d never know it from his accent.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

He could make us believe he’s from anywhere he’d want us to think he’s from. He’s able to sell an accent any time he likes.

        • That Guy

Him, Gary Oldman, Daniel Day Lewis, and a few others are actors who actually aren’t playing versions of themselves in every role. Though Malkovich is the most ‘himself’ of all the bunch. He was amazing in “In the Line of Fire”

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

I agree. How about Rounders? Loved that movie and got a kick out of his character in it.

  • BearDown100393

New England “fans” among the worst in pro sports.

Looking forward to the Patriots restoring to old losing ways once Belichick quits and Brady returns to Ork.

  • I expect lots of Dion Lewis/White passes and illigal picks with tactical hits on Gronk

  • Why do they have a LB on Cook?

  • BearDown100393

Sensei to Jaguars: Sweep the hand.

  • This is KGB coming in over the top

  • BearDown100393

Brady’s been in the NFL for about 50 years now, why is he wearing the playcard?

  • Illegal pick #1

  • Guess the Pat’s aren’t handing it off to a RB

    • BearDown100393

I guess the Pats need a RB.

      • Dion Lewis is a good HB.

        Wish we had him.

        • BearDown100393

Seems to be struggling today against this D.

Yes it is a good one.

  • there’s 2nd HB pass.

I predicted at least 12 targets to White/Lewis.

    On pace

  • BearDown100393

3 instead of 7 is a Jaguars victory on the opening series.

    • I wonder how many 3 and outs before that D caves.

      • BearDown100393

        We shall find out.

I’d find a way to step on that hand.

  • ah, I see the plan.

The D isn’t going to rush Bortles.

They’re just gonna build a pocket and FORCE him to throw.

They don’t want to create lanes for him to run

  • BearDown100393

If that was Brady and no flag, Belichick would have an ambulance on the field.

  • BearDown100393

Jaguars receivers doing a decent impression of MT’s teammates.

  • BearDown100393

    No more left footed punters.

  • Pat’s are just waiting for the Jags to crack first, to TO.

Jags don’t look like they’re playing tight though.

They’re gonna continue to play cuckball on O

    • BearDown100393

      Running game having some success.

      • That’ll be the key. Fournette doesn’t look all that hobbled. Whatever they injected him, it’s working.

        • BearDown100393

          Tramadol

  • That Jag’s line might be under rated.

Pat’s KNOW they’re gonna run, and still can’t stop them

    Also, have kept Bort clean

  • EnderWiggin

    Grant almost pulled a Cunningham…

  • KentuckyBearsFan

    Bortlesmania.

    • BearDown100393

All 6 members of his fan club are going crazy.

  • EnderWiggin

I hate to knit-pick, but I’m not sure dude completed and continued the process of that TD.

  • The Pats look so worried about Bortles running, they’re not pass rushing and immediately leaving their guy to contain him.

    Paid that time.

Always have liked Lewis. Seen him at UCLA. Thought he would be better, but he’s been somewhat reliable at NFL level.

  • BerwynBomber

    Hmmmm …

  • BearDown100393

Belichick might have to call plays for both sides of the football today.

Perhaps Patricia and McDaniels thinking more about their HC gigs and mailing this one in.

    • Their plan of containing Bortles isn’t working.

They’re gonna have to start blitzing. Right now, he’s just comfortable

Don’t even think he’s been hit.

The real story is that Jag’s Oline bullying the Pat’s Dline which is in contain mode.

I expect Bill to unleash the dogs.

If I were the Jags, I’d have a screen ready

      • BearDown100393

        Jaguars working hard to win.
        Patriots expect to win.

Hard working is winning over right now.

        • They came with the Blitz there, but Fournette stood him up.

Easy pass over the middle where the blitzer rushed.

          • BearDown100393

            Fournette is a beast.

He will lead the league in rushing next season if he is healthy.

      • Irish Sweetness

        The Fangio defense.

  • BearDown100393

Brady probably covered in his own snot after that hit.

  • Maybe Bill practicing vs Jags in PS not best strategy.

    • BearDown100393

It worked so well for him when it was the Bears instead.

  • Big Mike

What a great offensive series by jags. Brilliant play calls

  • BearDown100393

lol Bortles with some shake and bake.

    And it works.

    Patriots defense totally confused.

  • EnderWiggin

You called that fake screen, Butch. Nice call.

  • BearDown100393

Another Jaguars touchdown here and Patriots “fans” will head for the exits.

    • EnderWiggin

So, you’ve never seen a Pat’s home game?

      • BearDown100393

        I hate them.

  • Daniel Hacket needs to be interviewed for HC job perhaps.

  • That Jag’s oline just roadgrading Pats.

  • BearDown100393

Detroit might fire Matt Patricia after this game.

  • BerwynBomber

    That was fucking impressive.

JAX overcame two separate negative first down plays. A first and 15 and a second and 13. Playing smart ball.

    • the OC is masterfully using the run to set up screens and PA crosses and dump offs.

That Pat’s D has NO idea what’s coming. They’re completely on their heels.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

The Pats look old and slow. They can’t do shit about those edges.

        • They’re just playing very passively on D.

They’re reacting not attacking waiting for Bortles to shit the bed, but he isn’t

  • BerwynBomber

Unless you have horrible ST coverage — and some teams invariably do — don’t know why more teams don’t utilize that Belichick strategy of kicking off short of the goal line.

  • Nice recognition by Jack. and speed to get back.

    • BerwynBomber

Jack was one of the questionable tweeners who has turned into a good, solid pro.

  • BearDown100393

NBC executives frantically working the phones over at NFL HQ over Bortles Bowl potential.

  • Getting to him with just 4.

    Gmen formula

    • BearDown100393

      Tom Coughlin

  • BuddhaJoe

Hope Nagy’s taking notes on how Jacksonville is helping Bortles.

  • Anyone else offended that Laura Croft is now on the itty-bitty-titty-comittee?

    • BearDown100393

      JFC give her a break.

      She just had breast cancer.

      • Oh, really?

        Didn’t know that.

        • BearDown100393

          Pitt split.

      • Irish Sweetness

        ???

        Angelina Jolie??

She cut her breasts off and took out her ovaries IN CASE she ever got cancer.

She never had cancer, just mutilated her body. She’s just borderline insane.

  • That is a fantastic clutch throw by Bortles.

And great hurry up so it won’t be challenged. Gets mins off the board

    • EnderWiggin

I was just going to go off on JAX for tapping the breaks. Guess I’ll tap my breaks.

  • Bill is worried about his D. Or else he calls a TO there

  • BearDown100393

Belichick did not game plan the officials early enough.

  • Bet they take a shot with Cooks right here.

  • BerwynBomber

That DoG penalty was a killer. Fuck!

    • Yup.
Would’ve been 3, maybe 7 with the Pats saving them time.

      • BerwynBomber

And little things like that can swing games.

  • BearDown100393

NFL gift wrapping upcoming 7 to NE here.

  • BearDown100393

    Raining yellow on Jaguars now.

    • EnderWiggin

Are you seriously going to argue with either of those calls?

      • BearDown100393

        Always

      • KentuckyBearsFan

        The tripping was clear.

The second was forcing the receiver out of bounds? Not sure on that one.

  • Gronk has to be out.

How do the Jags NOT know Brady is gonna hit Cooks on 2 min drill?

    I did.

  • BearDown100393

Jaguars are not going to beat City Hall today.

  • BerwynBomber

Horrible last two and a half minutes for JAX

    • 10+ point swing

      • BearDown100393

Belichick will have his death cannon set for Jaguars in the 2nd half.

    • Juan Stone

Is it the year of the Jaguar already?

  • Jags. Cuckball.

    Working I guess.

If Gronk comes back, you know the protocol is BS.

    • BearDown100393

      Biologically impossible to concuss Gronk.

  • BuddhaJoe

Gutless. Can’t let up like that against NE.

    • Gotta remember it’s Bortles.

      • BerwynBomber

Yeah, I didn’t mind that strategy there.

But that DPI … yowza … totally ticky-tack call. Let’em play.

      • BuddhaJoe

I’d say that’s why you gotta take every chance to score that you can.

        • It’s like “unleashing” Cutler.
Just as much of a chance he throws a killer INT as he does to get a few 1st downs.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

I don’t know if I’d call that gutless. Knocking Gronk’s head off led to a Pats TD.

Might have been worth the price.

That delay of game was a killer. If the Jags lose this game, that, as of right now, feels like the turning point.

      • BerwynBomber

I assume BJ meant JAX kneeling with close to a minute left on the clock.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

          Ahhh

  • EnderWiggin

Gronk will pass protocol, and the Doctors pocket’s shall overflowith.

    • BearDown100393

You first need a brain in order to injure it.

      He will be back.

    • BerwynBomber

Just like Cam Newton against NO in the WC round.

Somebody brought up the decent point that the league should just do away with the concussion protocol.

Never will for legal and PR purposes, but we know and these players know that head injuries are the potential risk of playing the game, especially at the pro level.

      • BearDown100393

Cam Newton will have a shortened old age.

  • haha. I love seeing FBs in the open field

  • 3rd and 8

    Can’t dump-off your way to a SB

  • AlbertInTucson

    Spinnerama.

  • BuddhaJoe

    Think that’s 4 straight times they’ve run on 1st and 2nd down.

    • Worked for Birdcage!

      • BuddhaJoe

Wait he wanted to get shitcanned? Makes sense now.

    • BerwynBomber

When your QB is a rook or Bortles and you have a hammer like Howard or Fournette, it is not a bad strategy.

      • BuddhaJoe

When your qb is Bortles you really don’t want to set up obvious paasing situations.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Clutch 54.

    • This reminds me of when the Pats first played the Rams in the SB.

Clutch Kicks. Manhandling D. Going against #1 aerial attack.

  • All the Jags have to worry about is Cooks and RBs catching.

  • AlbertInTucson

The Chargers kept Koo over Lambo to Star this season.

    Jags signed Lambo Oct. 17th.

  • Just keep doubling Cooks as long as Gronk is out.

  • No pass rush.

Cooks is gonna burn the Jags if they keep leaving him one on one

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

Patriots seem to be finding ways to match him up on Smith. There’s a couple drops out there that are keeping Smith from being the scapegoat of the game thus far.

      • Yeah, and even if they leave him with Ramsey, I still don’t like that matchup.

Cooks is fast. And O always has the advantage.

If I were Jags D – I take away Cooks, then HB passes, then small white WR across the middle.

I don’t know why they just don’t play nickle all the time. It’s not as if the Pats are running.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Bad drop.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Big stop.

That drop by Cooks looms even larger.

    • Playoffs are weird.

High priced FAs or stars choke, while old vets like Mercedes Lewis or no names like David Tyree make plays of the yr.

  • SC Dave

    Go Bortles!!

  • CaponeBot 1.0

I’m deeply saddened to hear that Jeff likes that timeout chant at bears games. You can’t get a slob ass motherfucker to cheer except for the fucking Connie’s pizza race and that gay ass timeout chant. Fucking disgraceful.

    • BearDown100393

Just imagine what Jeff won’t admit to liking on Twitter.

  • BerwynBomber

And there’s the argument for pounding the rock the first two downs.

  • Blitzing now. Figured they would.

Putting pressure on Bortles best way to make him TO.

  • BerwynBomber

JAX D will have to win this.

Gonna be tough when their rush four isn’t generating a lot of pressure. And the Pats generally draw timely yellow.

  • Jags gotte anticipate blitzes and 8 man boxes.

A screen or wheel route would be good counter

  • SC Dave

    Bortles!

    • KentuckyBearsFan

smart decision-making from Bortles? I guess so.

  • Pats are in a small bind.

If they blitz, then that’s one-on-one trying to defend picks and crosses.

  • BearDown100393

Starting to hope Detroit locks up Patricia with a 10 year contract.

  • AlbertInTucson

That was Chicken salad from you-know-what.

    • SC Dave

A fine play by Bortles, actually.

    • BearDown100393

      Chicken Sh*t Conference Championship

      • AlbertInTucson

        Really?

        • BearDown100393

Named after Bortles favorite Omaha audible

    • BerwynBomber

Very nice play by Bortles there.

  • BuddhaJoe

Haven’t seen that one in a playoff game for a while.

  • SC Dave

Gotta say the Jags do NOT look intimidated.

  • Don’t settle for a FG, Jags!

    • SC Dave

      THIS!

  • SC Dave

Loving this drive so far. Put it in the fucking end zone!

    • It’s successful already. Flipped field position and gobbled up time.

Just need the cherry on top with a TD (or FG)

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed. But even an FG would be huge here.
Just no TO or huge sack.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

Great ball control offense by Jacksonville so far.

Time of Possession: Jags 29 minutes, Patriots 16 minutes

  • Dilly Dilly!

  • BerwynBomber

    We’ll take it.

  • And WHY didn’t we pick up Lambo?

    Don’t answer that…ruin my buzzz

  • Onside! J/k

  • AlbertInTucson

1 miss all year for Lambo?

Charger fans shake their heads, again.

  • Gronk out. I’m a smidgen less skeptical today than yesterday

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

Well. We’re about to find out how you feel after this turnover review.

  • I’m guessing he’s gonna hit a cross

  • BearDown100393

NFL Advertisers emergency skyping to bail or not to bail Super Bowl ads.

Kneeling players to be scapegoated pending.

  • AlbertInTucson

    NO soup (Gronk) for YOU!

  • COVER COOKS.
    Put nickle on HB
    Cover crosses

  • AlbertInTucson

Time for NY to save NE.

  • BerwynBomber

    That’s a fucking fumble.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Beware of Al Riveron.

  • Lewis does NOT have possession.

    And NOTHING to overturn call.

    = Pats ball

    • EnderWiggin

      lol

  • EnderWiggin

Was the second lateral a forward pass?

  • SC Dave

One in a thousand odds jax gets the ball.

  • BearDown100393

    More bs favoring NE.

    The “untuck” rule?

  • AlbertInTucson

    Call should stand.

    • SC Dave

One in one thousand odds it does.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Jackpot!

        • SC Dave

          Lol… no shit.

Too bad Jax did zero with it

          • KentuckyBearsFan

            Jackshit with it.

  • SC Dave

    Woot!!!

  • AlbertInTucson

    NE got…JACKed!

  • SC Dave

    I am truly stunned.

  • ButtonShoes

    Myles Jack. Holy shit.

  • Wonder if Bill benches Lewis his best HB by far?

  • AlbertInTucson

    Textbook tackle.

    What a concept.

  • Bortles recognizes the corner blitzes too late and doesn’t trust himself enough to hit the hot route.

    Bill knows this.

  • SC Dave

Have the Pats been called for holding yet?

  • Double cooks.
    Prevent swing passes
    Cover crosses

  • BerwynBomber

Ok, 3rd and 18. You can NOT give this up.

  • ButtonShoes

SO much time left in this game for the Patriots.

  • No pass rush

  • AlbertInTucson

Jags front 4 looked gassed on that 2nd flea flicker.

  • SC Dave

    Fuck

  • BerwynBomber

    SMH …

  • Cover small white guy crossing was #3 on my list.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

got to hold on plays like that if you cant keep up,

  • 3rd and 18.

Even bad Ds are expected to stop that

  • SC Dave

Jax better get a fucking TD

  • BerwynBomber

Fucking 3rd and 18. You HAVE to get off the field there.

    • SC Dave

      Or lose.

  • AlbertInTucson

Jags need another TD or a FG drive that takes about 8:40.

  • AlbertInTucson

Time for the Jags to turn it over?

    • SC Dave

No need. Zebras will take care of it.

  • BerwynBomber

    Game’s in Bortles’s hands now.

  • AlbertInTucson

NE allowed to stand over returner and taunt.

  • AlbertInTucson

I’d hire Romo to call plays.

  • AlbertInTucson

    I’ll-advised toss.

  • SC Dave

Sure must be nice when you can always get away with cheating when it counts most

  • AlbertInTucson

    What’s first?

    DPI or roughing the Brady?

    • SC Dave

They already just got the ball whem it should have been def holding

  • BerwynBomber

C’mon D. No pillow soft coverage here.

  • SC Dave

    There you go….

  • AlbertInTucson

    Pretty obvious, bad coverge.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Brady got kissed.

  • AlbertInTucson

    No flag?.???.

    • SC Dave

Amazing. On the other hand, only 1 penalty on Pats all day.

      Maybe ONE hold got called?

      • AlbertInTucson

Brady threw that ball to the wrong side and let the defender have a play.

  • Hope the Jag’s D doesn’t think Ramsey can cover Cooks one on one.

  • Bortles needs to keep it and run on RPO

  • SC Dave

Blake, FIRE that ball in there

    • AlbertInTucson

      And on time.

    • He sucks. This is the game of his life, and it’s still not enough.

      • SC Dave

        Actually, his numbers are good

  • AlbertInTucson

    POD punt?

  • Cooks.
    White guy over the middle
    HB pass

    repeat

  • SC Dave

So now we watch the motherfucking Patriots win again

    • SC Dave

Cause their white boys are playmakers

  • AlbertInTucson

    Notice White, not Lewis.

  • BearDown100393

    Not a catch

  • BearDown100393

    Jack fell down.
    And broke his crown.

  • Jack is out.

    Here go more HB passes

  • SC Dave

    Pick 6 time

  • AlbertInTucson

    Any Jag checks out.

  • SC Dave

Jax will need a td to win

  • Bortles gonna have to win this in 2 min drill.

    Just like Jags wanted.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Lewis is in Bill’s doghouse.

    You fumble.

    You sit.

  • Cooks.
    White guy over the middle
    HB pass

    repeat

  • BearDown100393

    It is over

  • Jags are gonna have to do more than 5 yd crosses.

  • BuddhaJoe

Jags O stopped doing what was working and paid the price.

  • AlbertInTucson

How many plays to the INT?

    • EnderWiggin

      Ouch.

  • Papa Punked

    He Edelmanned that mother

  • I would think about a QB draw right here

  • Papa Punked

    Harrison is a man

  • And that is why I try a QB draw.

Gonna need a miracle these next 2 plays

  • SC Dave

That miss of Fournette is probably the ball game. Great call… TD with decent throw

    With Amendola as obvious MVP.

    Guy OWNED the second half

    • I don’t know what the defender was thinking.

You can push a WR out of bounds now.

He was just looking at him.

  • Dump off on 3rd and 19.

  • SC Dave

Dipshit…time does not matter. Get every inch

  • EnderWiggin

I think I would have tried the 60 yard FG.

    • SC Dave

      Hmmm… good point

  • SC Dave

I hate football. The assholes always win.

    • Zorba

This sport has nothing to do with winning or losing. It’s all about getting as many fans as possible to become emotionally vested. That’s where the real money is.

      • Irish Sweetness

        Hey! No Greeks!

  • SC Dave

Here is where the auto 1st down penalty comes.

  • At least Jags didn’t blow TOs earlier. Still have a chance

  • Malice Halice

This is what happens when your D is just too fuckin good but the O is bland. Jags blew this multiple ways. Penalties alone gave the pats 7 points

    • AlbertInTucson

That defense just gave up a 10 yard run on 3rd and 9.

      • Malice Halice

The O was horrible today so obviously the D won’t keep the level of intensity up. Best team won for sure but the Jag O was detrimental

        • SC Dave

          Idiotic comment

        • AlbertInTucson

3rd and 9 from a “We are gonna run it” formation.

    • SC Dave

      Horseshit comment

  • BearDown100393

Go ahead and keep insisting Bortles guys get the job done with a great defense.

  • Maybe Jag’s D should’ve been pissed on that 3rd and 18.

    too late now.

    • SC Dave

Two giant plays they did not make. 3rd and 18, and 3rd and 9

  • EnderWiggin

    What a game. Fekkin Pats.

Now, ya’ll need to switch sides and help me pull for the Central Division.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I just want Romo to say “Keep your head up Blake, at least you did not fumble a snap on a field goal to lose it.”

  • BearDown100393

Tom Brady is Charles Van Doren of the NFL.

    • AlbertInTucson

That one is going to go over the heads of a lot of blogsters here.

      • BearDown100393

        Because they are f*cking idiots.

        • AlbertInTucson

Get over yourself. That’s a fairly obscure reference for anyone under 60.

          • BearDown100393

Seriously, simple minded dull witted idiots.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Seriously, no.

          • Zorba

            Zorba agree’s.

          • Irish Sweetness

Then Zorba should not place an apostrophe to spell the third person present simple.

          • Zorba

            Hee hee

        • Irish Sweetness

          Wow.

    • Irish Sweetness

I would have said Mimi Van Doren ….

  • Bortle’s didn’t play horribly. He did what they asked of him and then some.

That vaunted D just blew it.

Couldn’t get to Brady when they needed.
    PI, roughing Gronk.

I don’t know who’s the genius who didn’t double Cooks with Gronk out, but that cost them.

Couldn’t cover WR over the middle.

Out flanked by double lateral, but bailed out by fumble.

Bill is just smarter then the other guy.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed. Obviously a better QB would help but no way Bortles lost that game.

D was given a 10 point lead in the fourth and couldn’t hold it.

  • BearDown100393
  • SC Dave

I will watch thay last first down to see how many Patriots got away with holding

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

One for sure. Already saw it. But does it even make a difference? Bortles wasn’t getting into the end zone with no time and 1 time out.

  • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

Yep. Delay of Game flipped the whole thing.

    • AlbertInTucson

And they failed to cash in the game’s only TO.

  • BearDown100393

Tom Coughlin must acquire/draft/hatch/import/enslave a competent quarterback.

    • CaponeBot 1.0

Could see Jags moving up for a QB now or signing a vet. This team can win now.

      • BearDown100393

Agreed. I think they would prefer to sign a vet however I have not reviewed their salary cap.

      • They’ll sign Alex Smith.

  • SC Dave

Vikings better win, because the Eagles will never beat those assholes.

  • BuddhaJoe

Ugh if the Vikes win I’m gonna have to root for them. Not looking forward to that.

  • BerwynBomber

    1. DoG penalty near the end of the first half
    2. 3rd and 18 conversion in the beginning of the fourth Q
    3. Sketchy 30+ yard DPI call on Bouye end of the first half

Just some of what killed JAX.

Also didn’t like abandoning the run once they had crossed the fifty with two and a half left. No reason to scrap the entire gameplan with three TOs and the two minute warning.

  • BearDown100393

“Pack can go straight to hell.”

They are in hell. It is called Green Bay.

  • That Guy

Whatever else you say, it wasn’t Bortles who lost the game for the Jags. He played well enough to put them in the Superb Owl.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Patriot penalties:

1 st Qtr – 1 for 10 yards. Holding on a kickoff return.

    That’s it.

    That’s the list.

    • That Guy

No OPI on any of their pick plays. Meanwhile, Jax gets nailed for multiple DPI, including on an uncatchable ball.

New England gets different calls. There cannot be any debate about this.

    • Pretty sure they were holding the whole game.
But the Jags only got called for one obvious holding, so it went both ways.

That being said, if the refs decided to not call holding on both sides, that still favors the pats since the Jags rely on their pass rush

  • Vikes are gonna teabag these fools.
    Then beat down the Pats

  • AlbertInTucson

    Psst, Eagles.

    The game HAS started.

  • BearDown100393

Philly was too preoccupied lubing street poles instead of game preparations.

  • AlbertInTucson

Per Mr. Buck, and Indoor team has never won NFC Championship on the road, outdoors.

    • This will be a first.

Plus, a southern domed team is not like a northern domed team.

Pretty sure the players get acclimated to conditions in Minny or at the very least playing at Chicago and lambeu.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Fair point.

  • If Sandejo grew up around latinos, he must’ve got in a lot of fights with that name..

    • Irish Sweetness

      You got me Butch. Why?

      • Sounds exactly like ‘pendejo’ which according to the urban dictionary roughly translates to ‘fucking idiot’

Be like someone’s last name being “dumhass”

  • BearDown100393

How the hell did Ed Hochuli get the NFC assignment?

    • 2nd amendment

      • BearDown100393

        Well played.

        Earned exemption.

    • AlbertInTucson

      I was NOT consulted.

      • BearDown100393

        I wish you had.

  • Cox has been playing insane in the playoffs.

  • AlbertInTucson

Jags were the 4th most penalized team in 2017.

Patriots were the 8th least penalized team.

  • BearDown100393

I hate Philly. And I cannot support a divisional opponent.

All this to oppose the most demonic franchise in professional sports.

    Tough day.

  • AlbertInTucson

Patriots failed to cover that -9 for Jeff.

    • BearDown100393

      Gronked

      • AlbertInTucson

Giving them a first down on that 3rd down play (he had lost the ball before he got rocked) turned out to be bigger that knocking out Gronk.

    • Irish Sweetness

I didn’t have a bet in the end. Glad. The Pats +9 was pickem.

  • BearDown100393

Tori Kelly is a definite upgrade from Manning.

  • wow. if Diggs is out, that’s a yuge blow the Vikes.

Could just double Thielan and make other JAGs beat you

  • BearDown100393

    Hostiles

    Sign me up.

  • AlbertInTucson

THAT is how you direct traffic, Patrick Robinson.

    • Set it up almost like a return.

Impressive he had the head to do it like that.

      • AlbertInTucson

Obviously thinking, “I am NOT leaving this up to Nick Foles!”

  • Vikes will destroy Eagles

*Unless Keenum reverts back to a pumpkin

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

He made the right read there. Chris Long just made a play.

      • Keenum is a gunslinger though. He gives the D 1-2 shots a game like that.

        Usually shakes it off though.

  • AlbertInTucson

“The ball sure came out funny”.

Really? Because Nobody in Minnesota is laughing.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I know at least one fan in Minnesota that is laughing.

  • If the Eagles make the SB, can they still hire Romo to come down from the booth and Qb them?

  • Schwartz be with you loves that wide 9.

  • Vikes are getting a bit too brave.

Gotta at least try to establish the run. Get back to basics.

  • BerwynBomber

I’d laugh if MIN blows this golden opportunity to host the SB after lucking out last week.

    • Malice Halice

I’m waitin on it. You’d think they won the SB already the way theee fans are acting up here.

  • Papa Punked

    Blount force trauma

  • AlbertInTucson

Blount kinda smelled end zone on that one.

  • Watching these games today just reinforces how important coaching is.

Keenum was a 3rd string QB. Foles a career backup. Bortles be Bortles.

Yet, all in the championship games due to superior coaching.

    • Malice Halice

      Yep n top 5 defense

    • BerwynBomber

      Defense, defense and defense.

We shouldn’t forget Wentz’s effect either. He was arguably the MVP frontrunner before going down. Doubtful they would be hosting this game without him.

But yeah getting to the conference championship with Keenum and Bortles all year is damn impressive.

  • Letting em play. Like it.

Could’ve called ticky tack hands to face on QB, and late hit on return.

  • Papa Punked

That 99 year old didn’t just serve in the big one and Korea, he was at Chosin

  • Jenkins aiming for DIgg’s bad back .
Maybe Diggs shouldn’t sho boat on 1st downs.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Whoops.

  • AlbertInTucson

Laughable block attempt, albeit an impossible assignment.

  • AlbertInTucson

    “Dos minutos!”

  • BuddhaJoe

Wonder what else will be on Super Bowl Sunday. Not interested in watching the Patriots curb stomp either of these teams.

    • AlbertInTucson

They were supposed to curb stomp the Jags.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

      The Weather Channel?

  • willbest

not covering jeffery seemed like a poor decision

    • AlbertInTucson

Like you can cover a guy when the QB can wait 6 seconds or more to throw the ball…?

      • willbest

sure, just hand me the joystick

        • AlbertInTucson

          Exactly.

      • Irish Sweetness

This is how teams beat us with the Fangio ‘defense’.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

“Well I’m stuck in Folesom Prison, and time keeps dragging on”…

  • AlbertInTucson

Jeffrey has enjoyed some nice days against the Queens.

  • willbest

foles better remember his pro bowl year

    • AlbertInTucson

      1st half: 15 of 22 for 208 and a TD.

  • Papa Punked

Nfc north can’t get it done yet again

  • AlbertInTucson

    More good news, Queens!

The Eagles get the second half kick-off!

  • BerwynBomber

    Post-Whiff Six hangover.

  • BuddhaJoe

It’s funny, as much as I like football I rarely watch the entire Super Bowl. Not just because of the Pats, but that there’s too much other bullshit. Overdone halftime show, way too many commercials, everything is overhyped. I tend to watch the beginning and the 4th if it’s close.

    • AlbertInTucson

ABSENCE OF MALICE is on TCM.

      Paul Newman, Sally Field.

      Good movie.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

Al, we saw The Post on Friday. When it hits TV, I think you’ll enjoy it. Very well done.

        • AlbertInTucson

          Noted.

    • BearDown100393

Because SB is no longer really about football.

    • Yeah, too much hoopla

      Micro expose everything.

  • BearDown100393

The distance between Erin Andrews’ eyes stretches more every year.

    Like continental drift.

    • AlbertInTucson

Never understood the hullabaloo over her.

      • willbest

Was there hullabaloo over her other than being attractive a decade ago?

        • AlbertInTucson

          Didn’t see it then, either.

          Too “man-faced” for me.

Dozes of more attractive sideline reporters then and, of course, now, IMO.

  • AlbertInTucson

Harrison Smith looking a little LESS than “All-Pro” today.

  • BearDown100393

Vikings being embarrassed. And when this one is finished, will be humiliated again having the Eagles play on their turf in SB.

    Defines football cuckolds.

  • BerwynBomber

Aikman’s right: Pederson is pantsing Zimmer.

Keenum’s two killer TOs haven’t helped either.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Eagles’ pressure has gotten home.

      Queens’ mostly, has not.

  • BearDown100393

Jay Glazer being a complete prick.

    • AlbertInTucson

I thought that was his job.

    • BerwynBomber

      For being a reporter?

    • AlbertInTucson

It would be too easy to say “You should know”, so I won’t. ( Sarcasm).

  • BerwynBomber

    Shurmur booking his flights.

  • BearDown100393

Go ahead and end whatever career is left for Sam Bradford.

    Shurmur won’t care.

  • AlbertInTucson

    I would kick it.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed. Goes from a four score to three score game w/ an FG.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Mike Zimmer brain cramp.

    • beninnorcal

      Me too

  • AlbertInTucson

    No catch.

    • AlbertInTucson

Shouldda kicked it. Gonna need that FG at some point.

      Ain’t like you’re gonna make 3 2-pointers.

  • BearDown100393

    Troy Aikman is losing it.

  • willbest

Watching the Eagles team makes me feel like they might have a chance

    • BearDown100393

Definitely showing a chip on the shoulder

    • BerwynBomber

If the SB was a true roadie I’m pretty sure Foles would shit his pants.
A neutral field game? Maybe. But the Pats’ attention to detail is tough to overcome.

      • AlbertInTucson

Pats got all they could handle today, at home from Bortles and a good defense.

  • BearDown100393

Pace/Nagy should expect 2 wins against the Vikings next season.

    • AlbertInTucson

This performance DOES have “HANGOVER” written all over it for Minnehaha.

    • Irish Sweetness

Our DC will not allow that. He’ll let Keenum (or whoever) look like a rock star back there.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Foles QB coach has been working overtime with him since he replaced Wentz.

  • BearDown100393

This game will torture Philly fans for eternity.

In about 2 weeks, the forever “What if Carson played” will haunt them.

    • AlbertInTucson

      “The is game..”.

So, Wentz would have them up more than 24?

They may wonder about SB LIII in two weeks but there’s nothing to wonder about on THIS game.

      • BearDown100393

Winning this game will torture them.

Losing as expected would have saved them from the shelling in 2 weeks.

        • AlbertInTucson

          That makes zero sense.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

It might make sense if you are a complete idiot.

          • AlbertInTucson

Just remember, *I* did NOT say that.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

LOL. I just tested it out and texted it to my brother, who is a complete idiot, and he replied that it made perfect sense.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Corroboration.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I don’t mind reaching out for help, it is the prudent thing to do especially when I know an expert in the field of idiocy.

      • BerwynBomber

Yeah, that post made no sense. I presume he meant the game in two weeks will haunt them.

Even then I’d say it will be the LAR game when Wentz got hurt that will haunt them.

PHI is playing with house money w/Foles.

        • BearDown100393

          Wrong.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Yes, you are.

          • BearDown100393

All of you truly are f*cking stupid.

          • AlbertInTucson

You, sir, are approaching troll status for me.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

            only approaching?

          • AlbertInTucson

Once in a while, something lucid appears but, I think my position on name-calling as a debate tactic is pretty well-established.

          • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

            Your threshold is admirable.

          • That Guy

Hello. Your name is Mr. Pot?

        • AlbertInTucson

Well, we know that haunting “what if” song, well.

Think there’s a difference in the 2006 Super Bowl if a healthy Tommy Harris is on Bears D-Line?

How different is the late 1980s if McMahon isn’t beat to hell?

What if Jim Miller doesn’t get cheap-spotted out of a playoff game?

1968 if Sayers doesn’t tear up his knee?

196 4 if Willie Galimore and Bo Farrington aren’t killed in a car wreck during training camp.

  • AlbertInTucson

Apparently, Nick Foles has completely forgotten he is Nick Foles.

    • BearDown100393

    • BerwynBomber

I’m sure there are thousands of gamblers who would beg to differ.

      • AlbertInTucson

        They salivate over home dogs.

    • Irish Sweetness

That Minny got stuffed? Best running game and run defense … versus Case “Thalidomide” Keenum??

      • AlbertInTucson

A lot this blog is busy looking up “Thalidomide”.

        That stuff was horrific.

  • AlbertInTucson

    • Irish Sweetness

      Keepin’ it real Al!. Enjoy.

  • BearDown100393

    Fight on the field.

    Send out the cheerleaders.

    When in Philly…

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

    Bring in Bradford!

  • That Guy

The Patriots did not look like world-beaters today. The Eagles look very strong. If the Superb Owl had been today, Tom Brady would have lost to Nick Fucking Foles.

  • AlbertInTucson

At least the Queens won’t have to agonize over not kicking a FG to make it 31-10.

  • That Guy

Former Bear Corey Graham gets the INT and another trip to the Superb Owl

  • That Guy

    Let me try this.

    Ahem.

Philadelphia is going to regret winning this game.

    Did I do stupid right?

    • Irish Sweetness

Why did you steal NBIT’s handle?

      • That Guy

Was going to ask that guy the same thing…
        – That (NBIT) Guy

        • Irish Sweetness

Just curious … but you’re not the kind of guy that rolls on Shabbos, right? You sound very different to him. I don’t think NBIT curses, for example.

          • That Guy

I don’t roll on Shabbos. I do love making mock drafts. And I was not the one who said Philly would regret winning (because that’s a stupid comment).

  • BerwynBomber

Saints S Marcus Williams apparently used up every last bit of Keenum’s good fortune for the year.

But luck aside, Keenum played damn admirably for MIN the majority of the year.

Interested to see where he winds up next year. I wouldn’t trust him much beyond a bridge, but there will probably be four or five teams with rook QBs next year. No reason Keenum can’t land with one of them and make Glennon money.

    • AlbertInTucson

I think the difference here today was the defenses.

      Eagles’ showed up.

      Queens’ did not.

      • BerwynBomber

Yes. But Keenum shit the bed too. Three TOs, two killer ones in the first half when the game was still in doubt.

He’s not a QB on whom you want to rely for a big comeback.

        • AlbertInTucson

Well, there’s only THREE of those around.

        • He’s flirted with going full -Cutler all yr.

Finally happened at the worst time.

  • Irish Sweetness

Never got the Foles/Iggles hatred, but whatevs. Hope they can smother the Pats in the big one.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Hugh Douglas grudge?

  • AlbertInTucson

I can root for Nick Foles.

He put up 67 TD passes in 3 years starting at U of Arizona.

    • AlbertInTucson

Alas, his recent history suggests he will be unable to duplicate today’s level of performance in consecutive games.

    • Def root for him.

Who was the last backup to win it all?

      • AlbertInTucson

        Hostetler with the Giants…?

  • ButtonShoes

Alshon’s going to the Super Bowl. Ugh ugh UGH.

  • Did I say the Vikes were gonna blow them out?
    Meant the Iggles!

    Wow.

    Who saw Foles doing that?

At the end of the season, dude was looking like Glennon.

    Crazy.

That Vike’s D completed dismantled over last 6 quarters.

    Hope Nagy paid attention.

    • BerwynBomber

Sensed that home field helped Foles a ton today.

  • Butch joke of the day:

Didn’t know the Vikings were part of the government cuz they got SHUT DOWN.

    (no one steal it!)

    • AlbertInTucson

Not bad. Even funnier if the government of say, Norway, had shut down.

      • AlbertInTucson

        “Yumpin yiminy!

I’m next to fascinated to see how MIN plays their QB dilemma in the offseason.

Regardless of which vet they keep, might be smart to see if either Mayfield or Rudolph will last late into the first round. Or even trade up if they are a huge believer.

    • willbest

that is a genuine QB nightmare up there. bradford and keenum are FAs who knows if Teddy can play and they are drafting 30th

      • willbest

oh and you need a new offensive coordinator

      • BerwynBomber

Maybe MIN enters the Kirk Cousins Sweepstakes and tells all three of their guys to look employment elsewhere.

      • Irish Sweetness

Trade them 8th? If there is a QB there at 8 …..don’t we cash it in?

    • It is a unique QB situation.

The closest might’ve been Young/Montana where Keenum/Bradford play poor man’s version.

Then, there’s Bridewater who was feared to not walk again, yet alone play football.

Have no idea how it all shakes out.

      Worst case for Vikees.

      Bradford retires.
They let Keenum bolt betting on Bridgewater
      Bridewater’s knee doesn’t hold up

They keep Keenum, could be their version of Cutler. A gunslinger who loses as much as wins, and they’re back to the Lovie Bears, always on the cusp, but never quite dominant.

I predict both Mayfield and Rudolph got top 10, so they’ll be out of range.

Maybe they take a shot at Lamar Jackson in hope of catching that Watson fire.

    • Would this performance be definitive enough to determine “Keenum’s not the guy”?

      hmmmm

      • AlbertInTucson

They also have to wondering “Our defense caved in against Nick Foles?”.

        • Maybe the blueprint is out, the one the Saints laid out in the second half.

Then again, not everyone has a savvy HC/OC and such weapons to pull it off.

          • BerwynBomber

The Brees-led comeback was epic stuff authored by a first ballot HoF QB on MIN’s home turf. So I don’t hold that against MIN’s D much.

But they collapsed today. Very well could have been a post-Whiff Six hangover. And those two Keenum TOs in the first half were killers. Ten point difference automatically and who knows how much potentially.

        • Irish Sweetness

The dude has nothing but 100+ ratings post-season. I don’t get the hate.

nope. try to get Keenum on a Glennon type deal, where you could easily get out in a year or two, otherwise tag him. Bridgewater is going to be cheap but no one knows what he is going to be capable of. This way you at least have a season to figure out what you have with the 2. They should really take a hard look at drafting someone.

        • A Glennon type deal would def be good for the Vikes (as opposed to an Oz type), but dunno if Keenum would go for it.

          1. Shurmur’s gonna be leaving, and he might want to go with him
          2. Zimmer NEVER gave any reassurance to Keenum that he was ‘their starter’, a few weeks some even thought Bridgewater would finally start.

That might not have gone over well with Keenum.

          3. Keenum’s gonna see what happens to Glennon, and might view this as his only chance to get huge guarantees in the open market.

I think the more likely scenario is that the Vikes franchise Keenum and see if it was just a fluke or if he’s incapable of TOs.

But isn’t Bridgewater an FA as well?

What kinda $ is he going to ask for? Will he be willing to take a high end back up deal and keep riding pine, or does he bolt to say the Bills or even Jags?

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Shurmur is going to the Giants, they are going to try riding Eli for another year.

Agree with Zimmer never really being sold on him so that will affect his decision.

Bridgewater is FA, but who is really willing to give him a lot of money considering the injury and considering he was an average QB at best before the injury. Just too many questions.

        • Irish Sweetness

Wasn’t Keenum the ‘all-time passer’ in college history or whatever?

  • Irish Sweetness

So Philly gets a 6 point head-start against the Pats?

And they can run the ball?

    And stop the run?

With the news of Shurmur going to NYG, looks like the Iggles will retain Shorts.

Gotta imagine they are relieved about that.
