DaBearsBlog RevZone Channel Featuring a Special Guest Ranter

| November 8th, 2014

In for the Reverend, our old friend FQD1911 (or Doug)…

Here’s the story on this one.

One of my work colleagues and I made a bet on who would win the NFC North last year. Obviously, this came down to the last game of the season. I 100% thought this was in the bag FOR SURE when it happened.

Cutler turnover here, Brandon Marshall dropped pass there and Randall Cobb burning Chris Conte for the season-crippling (and ending) touchdown.

For the record this is the first time in my twenty-eight years on earth to ever have a Packer jersey touch my skin.

If someone were to challenge my fanhood, I would go nuclear on them.

NOTE: Have a picture or story you want to share on DBB? Send it to Jeff@DaBearsBlog.com and we’ll share it on the RevZone Channel one of these Saturdays.

I’m still catching hell from this, but a man’s word is a man’s word. This had to be my f-book profile for 24 hours, so it turned into a nightmare of mass proportions…smh new #1 in sports fandom lows.

Sorry I have not commented more…life has been very busy. I pretty much read everyone’s comments, so there’s still a connection there haha.

With all of that said, I seriously hope this works as a Pack jinx. Monsters of the Midway…please make this happen for us. Bear Down.

That pic reminds me of my neighbors’ Basset Hound at Christmas. Every year, they put a Santa hat, or reindeer antlers, or some such seasonal decor on the poor dog’s head. They take his picture and dump it on the family Christmas Card. I laugh every year, because he looks at the camera, and begs for sweet, merciful death, to come bury his shame. It reminds me of you in that Jersey Q.

      • my wife finished making a scarf last night and decided to put it on our poor cat and take a picture. He was not happy. I told her to quit being cruel and take it off.

        • CanadaBear

          Cute kitty. Doesn’t look impressed!

    • EnderWiggin

It sucks you have been so busy in real life stuff. We could have used you around here the last few months.

    • Trac

I bank rolled Lovie on a bet with MB. I’ll have to check the bylaws but if he doesn’t check in by seasons end I think he forfeits should he win. This is the only reason I haven’t flown out to San Diego to check on him. He he.

      • johnnywad

He designated me as his defacto recipient in his absence. I will be collecting any and all dried exotic meats if he doesn’t show.

        • Trac

          down vote. hahaha

    • Trac

Oh and I forgot to say that you look simply marvelous in green FQ. Hahahaha

  • Barb UMihai Mar

That’s a very strange thing to do. I don’t understand the rationale behind it.

Can you be a fan if you bet your fanhood ?

    • Trac

Yes, I think humble pie would be a foreign concept to you barb.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

We can bet on a humble pie whenever you want to.

  • CanadaBear

Holy Crap FDQ does that ever suck moose wang. Hopefully you had the sense not to bet this year!

  • I know a lot of people make these type of bets. Props to you for following through and not pussing out like Aaron Rodgers did after one of his many beatdowns against his hometown 49ers.

I will never make a bet like this.

    • CanadaBear

The only Bears gear I own is a Bears stocking cap from the early ’70’s. Even if I won a bet like that I’m guessing the other person would be reluctant to put on a 40+ year-old stocking cap.

      • I have a bunch of it just because people who don’t know what to get me for birthday/Christmas default to Bears gear. I have never bought anything Bears for myself, yet I have 3 t-shirts, a hat, a beanie, gloves, a sweatshirt, 2 jerseys, and had a winter coat that wore out a few years ago.

Yet the only thing of that I asked for was one jersey (a Walter Payton one) to wear on game days.

        • CanadaBear

My default gift from my family was always a gift certificate from the local bike shop.

  • EnderWiggin

If FQ guest-Rev doesn’t bring MB out of the woodwork, nadda will.

    • CanadaBear

I’m kinda wondering if he made an actual connection with one of his hotties and is down for the count.

      • FQD1911

        MB been AWOL?

        • Ososfan

I believe so. Thought he’d be out of the blog for like a week…. Not so much, I think..

        • CanadaBear

Yeah, he said he was going to take a break (I never saw the post but others told me) for a while. That was a couple of weeks ago.

  • Ososfan

All I want for my birthday weekend is for Aaron Rodgers and the Pack to be demolished and the Bears to win the SB…..

    • CanadaBear

Happy B-Day O. Count me in on your B-Day wishes.

      • Ososfan

Thank you Canada! I’m 25 now, I’m an old man….. I hope all comes true! Haha

        • FQD1911

          Happy B-Day

    • Trac

Happy birthday O. Don’t drink and drive.

    • Happy bday!

  • Shady

Where’s the rant? Am I missing something here?

  • “In ten meetings with Packers DC Dom Capers’ defense since
becoming a Bear, Jay Cutler has combined to complete 164-of-295 throws
    (55.6 percent) for 2,000 yards (6.78 YPA) with 12 touchdowns and 20

Although the numbers have improved slightly since Marc
Trestman took over as Bears coach, it’s an alarming trend in such a big
sample size, and particularly worrisome as Cutler heads to Lambeau for a
road game with weather concerns. Bears-Packers has a lofty 53.5-point
over-under — so perhaps a shootout is in store — but Green Bay’s
fantasy defense is worth a look if you need a Week 10 streamer. Find
more stats and analysis like this in Evan Silva’s fantasy football
Matchups column, accessible at the link below.” -RotoWorld

    • “Rodgers has excelled against the Bears since replacing Brett Favre
as Green Bay’s quarterback in 2008. In compiling an 11-3 record as a
starter, Rodgers has completed 292 of 428 passes for 3,377 yards with 25
touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 101.5 passer rating.”

      • so he’s been below average overall against Chicago (career passer rating of 105)

    • Cormonster

A few Packer fan friends have been posting this on Facebook. It’s all of Cutler’s picks against GB. Time for that to change tomorrow night. No more excuses.

    • in his last 2 games against GB, he’s completing over 65% of his passes for 4 TD and 2 INT. He’s been fine against GB since Trestman took over.

The issue was that the O couldn’t handle Capers’ blitz schemes under the previous incompetent OCs. Cutler is the same good but not great QB against GB now that he is against everybody else.

The problem is that people expect him to outplay Aaron Rodgers. This actually happened in week 17 last year, but isn’t going to happen on a consistent basis.

  • wreckinball

Anyone even have an ounce of confidence about tomorrow ?

    • EnderWiggin

      Yes. An ounce.

    • AlbertInTucson

That would qualify as”Overly Optimistic” for me.

  • Scott W.

For Christmas this year, I’m going to sing to my wife. We’ve been married for a lot of years, our nest’s been empty now for a long time. We’ve given each other about everything we can think of or want at this point.
We met as the result of my being assigned to do a feature story on her for something she had accomplished. It was a big deal, what she’d done, but it’s common now.
The night we met was Packer week, and we won.
So I’m going to figure out a way to incorporate that into the song I’m writing. A win tomorrow night would be damned inspirational.

  • Scott W.

Happy birthday OSO. I wish you well.
It’s been a depressing 2 weeks fan wise, but the pregame metamorphosis has occurred. I am ready for kickoff tomorrow night, and a part of me has packed the pessimism up and shelved it. I’m in “Any given Sunday” mode.
