I hate the Patriots. Go Jags!

  • Irish Sweetness

Just watched AFL – Randall Cunningham again. In it, he says “Everyone knows it takes three years to learn the WCO …”

An offense based on timing patterns, that takes three years to learn. May the road rise with us …

Also watched a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Carrey’s “Man in the moon”. It’s the only time I’ve seen Carrey be serious for more than a minute. Straight-to-the-camera honesty about his life and the craziness of making that movie, where people only met Andy Kaufman or Tony Clifton when they met ‘Jim’. Mixed in with incredible set footage that Universal studios tried to bury.

Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. Netflix.

    Stunning, stunning movie.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

Jaguars will get a cold welcoming in Pittsburgh. Something like 17 degrees by game time.

    But…little wind.

    • BearDown100393

      17 is nothing

    • catfish44

we hit 58 degrees below zero twice when i lived in the mountains in northwest colorado. high that day was -25 degrees. we didn’t play football though.

Last night’s game @ NE was an absolute disgrace to the NFL.

    • catfish44

no, just a tremendous offense, due to belichick, mcdaniels, and brady. amazing to watch.

  • CanadaBear

The Good Doctor from the movie The Last Waltz (The Band’s farewell concert filmed by Martin Scorcese). Dr John was still addicted to heroin at this point in his life. I saw him a year or two before this concert. Fabulous live!

Here’s a great clip of Dr John and Jools Holland playing a Boogie-Woogie duet. The intro by David Sanborn is hooey but the rest is great,

  • CaponeBot 1.0

I’m only a little bitter about not trusting Irish with his Philly prediction yesterday but i was thinking about how this whole thing has to be fixed somehow. The over under on the Patriots game was 48 i believe. The final was 49 because of a last minute touchdown in garbage time? That feels weird.

The Falcons game impacted dramatically by the most routine interception of all time somehow kneed by Keanu Neal10yards back right into the hands of the Torrey Smith and they get a field goal out of it with 1 second left instead of a runback for a TD. If that was the Bears it would have been a highlight pick six against us.

I’m never betting on the NFL ever again until I do.

    • CanadaBear

I’m glad I gave up as a kid. The refs helping NE at every turn just pisses me off to no end. If the NFL wants to stem the tide of lower ratings they have to figure out instant replay and get some officials that can keep up with the players.

      • willbest

as i have said, sensors in the ball and a few in the player uniforms could literally do 80% of what the refs do leaving them to focus on getting that last 20% right

        • CanadaBear

I”m for anything that will help get the calls correct in a timely manner.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

      Hahaha. You’re no fucking quitter.

    • willbest

every division game features a southern team headed north to get its ass beat. If you want to further your nfl scripted narrative.

Incidentally, i don’t think the nfl cares which nfc team makes the SB, but word has gone out to the refs that it is pats v steelers in the AFCC. jags or titans would be a ratings disaster.

    • Irish Sweetness

Vegas was all over that Pats game …

  • CanadaBear

Have to laugh reading Jeff’s end of a twitter thing about Soldier Field. Those dopes that are crying about the lack of seating at Soldier Field should have gone there back in the day. It used to seat 102,000. Like my dad always said, “100,000 seats and not one of them worth a shit.”

    • DaBearsBlog

I’ve been to several new buildings. Holy hell, they’re awful. A million seats. 4 good ones.

      • CanadaBear

I have only been by the new Soldier Field. I think it’s hideous on the outside but everyone I know that’s been inside said the sight lines are really good.

    • willbest

The parking situation is awful because of how its tucked between LSD and the lake. The closet train is a mile walk and its a miserable walk from about thanksgiving on. Using the buses takes forever so you might as well just walk.

With stadiums that large you really need to be able to come at them from all sides.

The site lines to the field are pretty good, but there are lots of places where you can’t really see the jumptron, which means you aren’t getting much of a look at the replay, I think they could do better with the TV’s. Which is a complaint I have with the concourse generally. Its pretty dumpy.

      • CanadaBear

No excuse not to have the place spiffed up with the latest and greatest. I’m pretty sure there is some profit in a $10 beer.

  • willbest

I am finding it almost impossible to watch a non bears game due to officiating. remember the strike a few years back? those guys weren’t this bad. i must have watched a 15 year low 12 non bears regular season games. 3 years ago it was well over 30. Oh and i turned off 3-4 bears games this year in the 3rd qrt, which was unheard of even in the shitshow of 2014

    • CanadaBear

And we’re the hard core fans.

    • Irish Sweetness

It’s beyond a joke. Killing the game. I know the Titans were never going to beat the Pats, but the officials made sure they didn’t even get close.

  • willbest

So help me if this game is as fixed as the NE game.

  • EnderWiggin

    Impressive drive. Steelers still sleeping.

        • BearDown100393

Hours and hours of pregame junkets on the rise of Bortles.

          • ButtonShoes

Not to mention having to reckon with the fact that over the past few decades, the Jaguars have been a much more successful team than the Bears. The fucking JAGS. It will drive me up the wall if that happens.

          • BearDown100393

            Coughlin

          • ButtonShoes

            Yeah. Coughlin.

          • BearDown100393

Some rave here about Ted Phillips pretending to be as football savvy as Tom Coughlin.

          • ButtonShoes

If someone thinks Ted Phillips is as football savvy as Tom Coughlin, there’s no helping them. I can’t imagine the kind of stone-cold-stupid blinders they’d need to be wearing to say that with a straight face.

I hate when teams do that. You need a foot so you pitch it back 5 yards. Barely ever seen it work.

  • catfish44

jacksonville. this team is going to win some super bowls. they will give new england a real game, perhaps beat them. when they get a QB to replace bortles, look out! they have really built something here, esp. on defense.

    • willbest

D won’t be this good 2 years from now, it is the way of things

      • catfish44

perhaps, but their GM has done great with free agency and the draft and likely will continue to do well. hope pace does as well.

        • BearDown100393

Helps with Tom Couglin hanging around the front office.

      • BerwynBomber

Maybe not this good but they could still be top ten for five years — SEA has somewhat followed that path. Slipped, of course, but still pretty good.
Rodgers should seriously consider getting to a place like JAX if he cares about his title legacy.

        • catfish44

rodgers. very interesting idea. hmmm. aaron rodgers with that defense and offensive line. wow.

          • BerwynBomber

Rodgers with any sort of bad ass D would be harrowing.

Plus, he would be out of our division/conference.

          • BearDown100393

            That would definitely shred.

Hell Eli Manning is an upgrade with better O-line protection. Or Coughlin might roll the dice with Sam Bradford if he does not retire.

    • BearDown100393

      The key is upgrading quarterback.

      • catfish44

        already said that.

        • BearDown100393

And agree with it being the most important point. They also need wideouts.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

I’d not count the Steelers out of this one just yet.

      • BearDown100393

Without Fournette returning or the Jaguars secondary making plays, the Steelers will win it.

        And that sucks.

        • catfish44

possible, but i’ll take the jaguars at this point. fun to watch bell and brown. bell is better than our jordan howard.

          • BearDown100393

            Bell is a rock.

      • catfish44

haven’t, but jaguars are the future.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

I don’t know. Last year it was the Cowboys. Few before that it was the Seahawks. Somewhere in there it was the Niners. This year it was the Eagles or the Rams.

There’s no such thing as the future in the NFL for my two cents. Everything changes.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

        • catfish44

          you must be blind.

        • willbest

dah fuk, you know that ben, bell, brown, bryant is the most dangerous combo in the nfl

          • catfish44

yes, they are. brown is amazing.

          • BearDown100393

Antonio Brown is a selfish headcase. I don’t know why these divas refuse to listen or be mentored by guys like Cris Carter or even Michael Irvin. The cycle of mistakes, stupidity and immaturity rob them of true greatness.

          • catfish44

            he produces. has today.

          • BearDown100393

  • BearDown100393

Neither of these teams are better than New England.

Those bastards are going back to the Super Bowl.

    • BerwynBomber

Yup. Though at this point, I might trust JAX more than PIT to give them a game.

      • BearDown100393

Not without Fournette. That kid is a stud.

  • BearDown100393

Without Leonard Fournette, Bortles is not going to be able to move the chains and keep time of possession respectable.

    What a shame.

    • willbest

      jags by 3

Jeez man, it was a shit call.

      • BearDown100393

        Expect the shit call.

      • BearDown100393

And it will be a reason why they lose today.

  • catfish44

    horrible call on ramsey.

  • CaponeBot 1.0

Bell took a dive. I can’t respect that.

    • BearDown100393

Down by 14. Pittsburgh will utilize their officiating advantage.

  • willbest

i probably wouldn’t give a shit if one of the defenders just took out ben or bradys knee the way these refs are calling these games

    • BearDown100393

I do not know why they have not already. Nothing to lose.

  • BearDown100393

Secondary scorched again this time by a completion from a running back.

    The secondary stinks today.

  • catfish44

a pleasure to watch laveon bell run.

    • BearDown100393

      and catch.

      • catfish44

jordan howard good, but not in bell’s class, esp. receiving

        • BearDown100393

Howard has not hit the ceiling yet.

I expect a monster season from him. And better hands. Bell like? Probably not but still very very good.

          • catfish44

yes, but he will never be very good as a receiver, not a forte or bell.

          • BearDown100393

He is a different type of RB though.

          • catfish44

just missing that aspect though. really enjoyed forte as a receiver.

          • BearDown100393

      • catfish44

3 excellent TD passes. if trubisky threw those, our bear fans would say he is as good as rodgers.

        • BearDown100393

          They already do.

          • catfish44

i wish. he never wlll be, but maybe still good enough to win a super bowl with what could become a great defense.

          • BearDown100393

Several State Farm commercials of Vagers and Girly Thor shacking up or hanging out….and maybe a dog here and there….

    • BearDown100393

What that poor animal has been subject to…. probably a worse fate than the ones in Vick’s backyard.

  • CaponeBot 1.0

Fournette is done, put yeldon in

    • BearDown100393

Whatever was shot into him, has worn off.

  • BearDown100393

    Bortles is hot garbage.

    • catfish44

      the weakness of the team.

      • KentuckyBearsFan

Jags receivers seem to know how to run their routes but get in a daze and forget they are out there to catch a football.

        • BearDown100393

It must suck running routes and knowing the football will never be there for a completion.

          • catfish44

            i played tight end. yes.

          • BearDown100393

Takes guts to be on the interior of the field looking for a completion and knowing you are about to be crushed.

          • catfish44

            yes.

          • KentuckyBearsFan

First half there was a pass straight to the wide receiver around midfield and it bounced off his right shoulder since he was still running horizontally towards the sideline.

But yeah, with Bortles I can see how the route might seem like coordinated marching instead of football.

          • BearDown100393

It would be startling running those routes and Bortles actually getting the football there…..

          • KentuckyBearsFan

And when the passes are on target the Jags wide receivers are surprised and drop the ball.

          • BearDown100393

            This

  • BuddhaJoe

This collapse is almost as bad as the Falcons last year.

    • BearDown100393

      They stunk yesterday also.

    • catfish44

more credit to steelers than a collapse.

  • BearDown100393

Todd Haley apparently is still drunk. And looking to be fired.

    • EnderWiggin

That looked like a Ben audible, as soon as he saw that safety blitzing.

      • BearDown100393

That would make for some interesting audible – a drunk relaying a play to a punch drunk who ignores and stammers out another play instead.

  • BearDown100393

lol what the hell was that? Bortles throwing into double coverage?

  • catfish44

    fun game to watch.

    • BearDown100393

New England is enjoying these two teams beating the crap out of each other.

      • catfish44

the new england game was not fun.

        • BearDown100393

Patriots games are a joyless sterile experience.

          • catfish44

but, mcdaniels knows how to call a game.

          • BearDown100393

            Yes.

            With Tom Brady.

          • catfish44

ye. and, he also did it well with matt cassel that one year.

          • Irish Sweetness

As I was musing yesterday … if Josh McDaniels wasn’t originally employed by the Patriots, we would never have heard of him.

Calling plays when Tom Brady is your QB?

          • catfish44

he had a great year when matt cassel was their QB all year, so your argument doesn’t hold. success due to mcdaniels and brady is my guess.

  • BearDown100393

    Burns burned by Bortles.

    Cut him.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

Joe Haden allowed that pass to get through?

  • BearDown100393

    Fournette is a warrior.

  • catfish44

jaguars just changed the momentum of the game.

    • BearDown100393

A blind squirrel found a nut.

  • catfish44

    damn good game.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Is Kevin Can Wait a sequel to King of Queens? I’m not used to watching tv or commercials anymore…

    Good game so far though

    • BearDown100393

      Same crap. Different show.

  • BearDown100393

    Ramsey jogging and watching.

  • AlbertInTucson

Surprised the Steelers didn’t get bailed out on that last 4th and 1.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Great receivers make a difference.j

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Jags Dline hungry.

Nice to see this team finally seeing the fruits of their labor

    • AlbertInTucson

The game is far from over.

      • burntorangenavyblue

I just meant overall as an organization

  • BearDown100393

More napalm scorching that super amazing Jacksonville secondary everybody seems to love.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

The Jags secondary is pretty good…for a team that practices only against Jaguars wide receivers.

      • BearDown100393

The secondary has done nothing today.

    • CaponeBot 1.0

Perfect coverage. It’s Antonio brown dude not Marc mariani.

      • BearDown100393

        They’ve stopped nobody today.

        Nobody.

  • catfish44

    what a pass. 4 now.

  • AlbertInTucson

If I were a Jags fan, my concerns would be that

    1) Bortles has a turnover in him.

    2) The zebras will make up for missing that defensive holding on 4th and 1.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Terrible coverage. This is what it’ll come down to in this game.

However, the many 4th down plays by Steelers is ballsy. Makes me wonder if they know something about getting away with something to stay in the game.

    • CaponeBot 1.0

Why was that terrible? All Steelers TDs have been epic

      • burntorangenavyblue

        Didn’t say they weren’t…

        • CaponeBot 1.0

Bouye has had perfect coverage on both.

          • BearDown100393

            Perfect is making a stop.

          • Irish Sweetness

If your man has beaten you and it’s over his shoulder……

          • burntorangenavyblue

Meh, a perfect coverage would include awareness of the ball’s location and getting the hand up there to deflect

      • BearDown100393

At some point the secondary has to make a play. And they have not. They are being exploited.

  • CaponeBot 1.0

Fournette can’t cut on his ankle why is he in?

    • BearDown100393

He got a 2nd half TD though.

    • AlbertInTucson

Did you not see him blast straight ahead for their last TD?

      • CaponeBot 1.0

1 yd straight ahead not touched until he crossed the line, yup saw it.

        • BearDown100393

That is the longest one though.

        • AlbertInTucson

          But you want pull him.

          • CaponeBot 1.0

For those outside runs that yeldon is doing much better … Yes

          • BearDown100393

            Yeldon played well.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

The Steel Curtain looks more like one of those hippie beaded curtains from the ’60s.

    • BearDown100393

      It needs a new welder.

  • catfish44

gotta say bortles look much better than his last game. jags still need a better QB.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Nice!!

  • BearDown100393

Pittsburgh needs a new coaching staff.

    • EnderWiggin

Holy hell man. Both of these teams are adjusting, playing with heart, and in the divisional round of the playoffs. WTF is wrong with you?

      • BearDown100393

This team’s potential has been wasted for awhile by this coaching staff.

        Fire Tomlin.

        • EnderWiggin

Whatever. He’s one of the better post season coaches all time in my opinion.

          • BearDown100393

            He is the AFC Grimace.

            Fire him.

          • burntorangenavyblue

I don’t think teams and the league care about stuff like that anymore

  • BearDown100393

A lot of heart on this Jacksonville team.

    • catfish44

      both teams.

  • willbest

    it would be 72-3 if it wasn’t 11 v 18

    • AlbertInTucson

I haven’t seen that. They let Bouye hold Smith-Shuster on the 4th and 1 play that went incomplete.

Bortles is getting spotless pass protection. The zebras would be calling offensive holding if it was”11 v 18”.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Tomlin had spittle on beard, becoming rabid

    • BearDown100393

He should be fired after this one.

  • AlbertInTucson

Any QB can be raised up with the protection Bortles is getting.

  • CRAZYBEARNORTH48

    Done like dinner

  • catfish44

    42 points tough to beat.

  • catfish44

jaguars may have just won. only 4 plus minutes left.

  • Big Mike

So are the Bears next year’s Jacksonville or Tennessee?

    • BearDown100393

I thought everyone here wanted the Bears to be the next Rams?

    • catfish44

not jacksonville. still short too many players. will take more than one year.

    • Pace is incapable of spending on the likes of Bouye and Calais Campbell

Till he does our D won’t be at that level

      • catfish44

agreed, or somehow strikes gold when drafting. jags GM has done very well.

      • Big Mike

Can’t say that. He’s been setting this whole thing up to get to this point. I’m betting they make a splash this offseason.

        • I’ll believe it when I see it, Mike

Till then, I expect more Royals, Coopers, Wheatons, and Simms…

There’s a reason the Jags turned it around before us, and it wasn’t because they only drafted well.

          • Big Mike

They had more to start with. Need to get off The Pace sucks train. Bears were never going to be good this year. He put a team on the field. Didn’t impact future years. Glennon messed the plan up.

      • Irish Sweetness

Already had his chance with Campbell. He was worth getting.

    • Irish Sweetness

      With a toothless D? Titans.

      • Big Mike

You are the only guy who thinks the Bears D isn’t good

  • burntorangenavyblue

I’d be curious how Tomlim and co act after game, including the fans…they take losses badly

    • BearDown100393

They should be cleaning out their desks.

      • Irish Sweetness

Why? they were 21-0 down and got back within 3 points!

        • BearDown100393

          Blake Bortles.

    • AlbertInTucson

Remember, Mike Mitchell was already talking about playing New England again like this game was a Steeler walkover.

      • burntorangenavyblue

I missed that. Wow, talk about being professional…

  • BearDown100393

Yup waste the clock on short pass gain against a prevent defense when the secondary cannot make a stop. Haley is a tool.

  • AlbertInTucson

Listening to the Steelers broadcast on Sirius.

Comical deadpan calls on Jags big plays.

  • BearDown100393

You need 2 TDs and dial up middle of the field plays.

    Stupid.

  • BearDown100393

    Sensing Pittsburgh quit here.

  • BearDown100393

When Ben has to run, the clock has run out on this Haley offense.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Another non call.

    • willbest

see the ball jump at ball no call. but it still doesn’t make up for giving ramsey a yellow card

      • AlbertInTucson

That WAS a bad call but it has hardly been 11v 18.

  • BearDown100393

It took PI but the Jaguars secondary makes a stop.

  • AlbertInTucson

Pittsburgh is going to have to relent and pay Mr. Bell.

    • BearDown100393

Bell reportedly will sit out the season if they tag him.

      • AlbertInTucson

He HAS hug his heels in.

Today has not hurt his case.

        • BearDown100393

          The dollars climb.

    • catfish44

they will.just like bears and fangio.

      • BearDown100393

I’d rather pay to have Bell than Fangio……

        • catfish44

          yep.

      • AlbertInTucson

Considerable difference in $$$ And Fangio has no Cap implications.

        • Irish Sweetness

He also has no balls, Al. There’s that.

  • catfish44

    bad call. pass interference.

  • BearDown100393

Ramsey needed that one. Would have ended the game.

  • BearDown100393

    Steelers hate the sidelines.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    That line ref needs glasses

    • burntorangenavyblue

      Wowowow

  • KentuckyBearsFan

Even a drunk Haley would not have drawn up that touchdown play. All Ben.

  • BearDown100393

    Empty seats?

    JFC.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    What a game though

    • BerwynBomber

Lots of exciting plays but would have preferred a closer score and more D.

      • BearDown100393

        Better than Phi-Atl

  • BearDown100393

The Steelers coaching today is pathetic.

  • catfish44

    very entertaining game.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

Should have kicked it deep. Boneheaded.

    • BearDown100393

      Tomlin is the bonehead.

      • KentuckyBearsFan

I thought they were going to fake an onside and then kick it as deep as possible.

        • BearDown100393

          That would take intelligence.

    • burntorangenavyblue

      Yep, with TOs, yikes

  • burntorangenavyblue

Here comes the longest 2 minutes EVAAAR

  • catfish44

no to the onside. bad choice. poor execution.

    • BearDown100393

      Dumb call.

    • AlbertInTucson

      No to the onside?

      Why?

Because the Steeler defense has been so terrific all day?

      • KentuckyBearsFan

Because with Bortles, there’s always a chance.

      • catfish44

percentage of recovery is low. then a field goal is very possible and game is over if that happens.

  • AlbertInTucson

Tomlin HAD to on side kick.

He couldn’t trust his defense to get a 3 and out.

That said, that was piss poor execution.

    • catfish44

      can’t agree.

    • BearDown100393

Well he still needs a 3 and out now.

  • AlbertInTucson

Get the first down and it is

    Game over.

    • willbest

      its over anyway

      • AlbertInTucson

        I disagree.

        • catfish44

          over.

  • AlbertInTucson

    I would go for it.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Boom

  • BearDown100393

Surmountable stupidity by Tomlin. Deserves to lose a home playoff game and should be fired.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Someone’s gonna get hurt

  • catfish44

    game over.

  • BerwynBomber

Story of this game was PIT’s D managing to make JAX’s O look like a juggernaut.
Ben and company fought well in catch up mode despite their D and Haley.

    • willbest

jax D is responsible for 14 of those

      • BerwynBomber

And that still leaves 31. That rates out as a top five O in terms of points per game.
I’ll stick to what I said.

  • willbest

jags need to fucking watch the stupid penalties

  • BearDown100393

“Mike Tomlin has a really nice resume. This game won’t be on it.”

    Green Bay should hire him.

    • catfish44

      he’s better than mccarthy.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Kick the Fg now.

    • willbest

clock management is not something that is coachef

      • BearDown100393

Tomlin has apparently already left Heinz Field.

      • KentuckyBearsFan

        …beyond sixth grade.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Kaching kaching

  • BearDown100393

    This is just so stupid.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Oh lordy, refs playing off bench now!

    • burntorangenavyblue

      Oh wow, lol

  • AlbertInTucson

    Stupid game management.

  • BearDown100393

    Fire Tomlin.

  • willbest

    no time

  • burntorangenavyblue

    LOL!

  • KentuckyBearsFan

    They should go for two!

  • willbest

    jags by 3!

  • AlbertInTucson

Way to pad the stats, Ben.

    • CaponeBot 1.0

Not his fault his coach cornholed him

      • BearDown100393

It was a FU from Haley.

  • BearDown100393

lol, yeah make Pitt run another play knowing they lost and completely played this one out stupid.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Yeah, they were completely lethargic getting back to the line there

  • catfish44

jags have certainly become a good team VERY quickly.

    • Doesn’t take 6 yrs.

      Who knew…

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

It took them longer. It was a decade since the last time they were in the playoffs

  • AlbertInTucson

You cannot advance a recovered on side kick.

    • willbest

you can if it toches the opponent

      • catfish44

        correct.

      • AlbertInTucson

Yes, but you cannot just scoop up the kick after 10 yards and run with it.

        • willbest

that is correct. but there might still be a second on the clock since it doesn’t start until the ball is in play

          • AlbertInTucson

If the Jags just back off and not touch, does not the last :01 HAVE to come off the clock when the Steelers touch it?

          • burntorangenavyblue

The clock doesn’t start until the recieving team touches it.

If the opponent touches it, the play is instantly dead, so no clock movement anyhow

          • AlbertInTucson

Same as a recovered “muffed” punt.

            Can’t be advanced.

    • catfish44

      no.

    • BearDown100393

      Bull

      • AlbertInTucson

        Wrong.

  • CaponeBot 1.0

Tomlin better take some responsibility. Ben too for the 1st half. Steelers D couldn’t stop jax when they needed to.

    • BearDown100393

Tomlin should be fired. He quit.

      • AlbertInTucson

Gotta question Todd Hailey’ play calling, too, no?

        • BearDown100393

          Absolutely.

          But Haley works for Tomlin.

The coaching staff quit on its team with time on the clock.

      • Irish Sweetness

They almost came back from 21-0 down, other than Jim McMahon being under center … when do we ever do that?

  • BearDown100393

Steelers should have won this game. Jacksonville’s secondary was badly exposed by superior receivers. Haley cannot run an offense hungover and at odds with a rapist. Tomlin quit with time on the clock and it carried over onto the field.

I hate this team and I am glad they lost.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Some of those plays, the Steelers avoided the sideline. That’s ridiculous. Stopping the clock is numero uno

      • BearDown100393

Tomlin is overrated garbage. He is a quitter.

        • burntorangenavyblue

I have a nagging feeling you might hate the Steelers. I could be wrong, hehe

          • BearDown100393

            I f*cking hate the Steelers.

    • catfish44

      steelers defense lost it.

    • Irish Sweetness

Dude … they were twenty one points in arrears!

  • AlbertInTucson

The mismanagement by the Steelers down the stretch was laughable.

    Dare I say, “Bear-like”?

    • BearDown100393

That was much worse by Tomlin.

    • catfish44

      fox like.

  • BearDown100393

If Mike Tomlin is retained, Pitt will not hire a better OC than a bar fighting drunk. Steelers have some great offensive weapons but this is a sh*t show that is only going to get worse. The rapist might as well retire now and walk away before being wheeled out.

    • burntorangenavyblue

He’s got a wheelbarrow tummy. He can roll himself out

      • BearDown100393

        He is fat.

Starting to look like Eli’s old backup.

    • catfish44

      they need help on defense.

  • BearDown100393

Full credit to Jacksonville today. They earned the right to take a beat down in New England.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Whoever said this game wouldn’t affect his resume can be fired too. Steeler fans won’t live this down

    • BearDown100393

PItt fans should demand a new coaching staff. The problems are much larger than Todd Haley and this offense is too talented to be wasted by stupid decision making.

      • AlbertInTucson

Don’t feel bad for the most self-entitled fan base in football.

They were all on board with Mike Mitchell planning for next week’s game at New England.

        • burntorangenavyblue

Lol, just read Jeff’s Tweets…I guess he said it?

People will remember Jeff, you just put it to the level of Andy Reid-esque buffonery game management.

        • Pretty Boy Assassin

Along with the Pats, that franchise deserves some down years.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    On to the next!

  • burntorangenavyblue

Whatcha guys wanting to see out of this game?

I feel like some pieces of the Saints will be headed our way this offseason, Pace connections

    • BearDown100393

      Brees

      • burntorangenavyblue

        Trubisky learning from Brees?

        • BearDown100393

          Yes.

          Make it happen.

    • catfish44

a naked viking streaking across the field.

  • willbest

brees got his work cut out for him

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

That’s a weak call. Who knew the Queens would be zebra darlings?

    • catfish44

zebras are just horses with stripes. they taste the same.

      • Irish Sweetness

        Dogs and chicken?

  • RenoBear

That was a massive pussy flop move by Diggs. He just flopped like an NBA player

    • Pretty Boy Assassin

While grabbing the defenders hand to make it look like hand fighting.

      • RenoBear

It was suuuuuch bullshit. Refs bought it hook, line, and sinker

    • Big Mike

Terrible call. He actually tripped. You can see his foot get flipped by Crowley’s.

      • RenoBear

Right on, looked like a dive as soon as he saw he couldn’t catch up to it. Either way, rough call. Glad they were held to a FG

    • willbest

hockey has a penalty for being a pussy

      • AlbertInTucson

  • BearDown100393

I hate the Minnesota Vikings. Trash fans. Stupid Neanderthal mascot. A f*cking horn on the sideline. Barney costumes. Dumbass players openly talking about playing a SB at home.

    Crush them.

    • catfish44

these dumbass players are nothing like those idiots that made a music video back in the 80s.

Of course, I no longer care.

      And never. Not these bastards.

  • BearDown100393

  • Pretty Boy Assassin

I have Packer fans on my Facebook feed telling me that the zebras are handing the Queens the victory. The irony is incredible.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

The only thing worse than a Patriots fan is a Packers fan. The most entitled fandom in the history of fandoms.

Vikings are pretty fucking good. Probably not good enough to beat the Pats but a close second. And with Case Keenum. Who knew?

      • BearDown100393

Steelers fans share that same sewer also.

Brees is getting killed today. Case Keenum just keeps rolling.

        Zimmer built a monster.

      • Pretty Boy Assassin

Best thing is one of them will tell me all about how he was a fan through the 80s. He’s like 2-3 years older than me which puts him at 9 when favre took over. Long suffering indeed.

A lot those Packer fans will soon have no time to watch football while being mandated by their state to work for their welfare and medicaid.

  • Don’t think the good ole boy network exists in the NFL?

Think about how TURRIBLE Fisher was.

Once he was FINALLY booted from the NFL after decade of mediocrity, both of his QBs immediately made the playoffs in Goff and Keenum.

    • BearDown100393

On that curve Mitch makes Pro Bowl status.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

As not predicted, HOLY shite, how does Bortles post 30+ on the Steelers?

    Yikes.

    Feels like the Vike’s yr.

I don’t see any weaknesses. Great lines. Explosive WRs. Good HBs. Smothering secondary. Best LBs.
Hot QB. Quality specials. Coached well and aggressive.

Everyone keeps waiting for Keenum to turn into a pumpkin, but that may not happen.

The scary part is they might be better next yr when Cooks returns.

    • SC Dave

Bortles can make plays with his legs, and showed it again today.

Pat Shurmur play calling is brilliant or Saints D is that bad

    • A lil of both, methinks.

  • BerwynBomber

“DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog That is one of the dumbest plays by an NFL player in the history of the league. And it might be the dumbest based on the circumstances.”

Yeah, it’s hard to imagine a dumber play given the circumstance.

Leon Lett maybe but that was only a T-day game.

    • AlbertInTucson

I dunno, I think a bunch of Bears standing around watching Randall Cobb pick up a live football and run it for a TD ranks right up there on the “Dumbest” scale.

      • BerwynBomber

Nah. That was a freakish play. The Cheese were standing around too. And it was the middle of the second quarter and not in a divisional playoff game where one single, simple play sends your team to the conference championship.

And it was Boykins. Not Cobb.

        • AlbertInTucson

          It was dumb.

Just because some Packers were dumb, doesn’t excuse the Bears dumbness.

        • SC Dave

No, Al is DEAD RIGHT. That was the dumbest play in NFL history.

  • EnderWiggin

That was so awesome. Philly/Vikes should also be epic.

    • BerwynBomber

      You’re happy about MIN?

      • EnderWiggin

      • EnderWiggin

        Absolutely!

  • BerwynBomber

    Ah well.

The Sirius radio feeds run well behind the TV feed.

You always hear the winning team’s call on sports shows the next day.

It’s fun to listen to the losing team’s broadcast crew call the decisive plays.

  • BuddhaJoe

So Keenum, Foles, and Bortles are 3 of the 4 QBs left in the playoffs. If anybody claims they saw that coming I’m calling them out on being full of shit.

    • BerwynBomber

True. But Foles should have an asterisk. No way the Iggles get there with him behind center all year.

Keenum and (can’t believe I’m saying this) Bortles I respect a little more.

      • BuddhaJoe

        For sure.

  • It’s crazy to think that the entire year came down to essetinally fundementals.

The FIRST thing they teach you as a defender is KEEP YOUR HEAD UP.
    See what you’re tackling.
Aim for his stomach. Wherever it goes, he goes.

Shit I still remember from Popwarner.

And at the most crucial moment, Saint’s defender ducks his head and whiffs.

    Unbelievable.

Feels like a magical yr for the Queens.

I’m a bit torn on them.

On the one hand, I like how they’re built. Them winning will piss off Puke fans. Those fanbases despise ea other. Do I really want Foles going up against Brady or that Jag D?

    OTH, they’re the Queens.

    Ugh.

    • CanadaBear

I’ve always maintained that Queens fans were cry babies but I would be happy to see them win the next two. They are much better than Fudge fans and Loins fans are delusional (worse than us).

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Marcus Williams is a rookie, I hope the kid can rebound from this. That is something that could probably scar him mentally for a while.

        • EnderWiggin

Or Co… (he who we do not name)

        • AlbertInTucson

What is lost is on Buckner is

          1) Even if Billy Bucks fields that ball cleanly, Mookie Wilson is going to beat that out.

2)The Red Sox had a better defensive first baseman on the bench who should have been in the game at that point.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky (Johnnywad)

Meh. Even if he forces Diggs out of bounds there, Vikings likely still win. Would have been about a 47 yarder with 2 seconds left on the clock.

  • BearDown100393

Pitt is the worst 13-3 team in NFL history.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

not sure about that. 2001 Bears were worse, that was one of the luckiest teams I have ever seen.

      • CanadaBear

It was like every bounce, every call, every kick, every flag whenever they needed something it always seem to happen. MB’s 2 returns for game winners, bonersville. It sure landed with a thud.

The Eagles cheap-shotted Jim Miller out of the playoff game.

I would really like to see the Vikings play a home game Super Bowl.

If it must be, they must lose.

Appears Brees and Rodgers are destined to sit on 1 SB win apiece. You start losing post-season games like that — or how the Cheese gagged in SEA a few years back — the football gods are against you.

Well guess I’m all in on JAX now. Or if it comes to it, one of the NFC teams.

I think the Jags will make a game of it. But Hoodie/Brady is a bridge too far.

Brady plays an “away” super bowl to get his 6th ring. Probably on some game winning drive. He stuns Kraft by retiring, Hoodie walks because of the G trade. Pats slink into 20 years of hell, Vikes so distraught by the loss come out flat. Bears take the division.

I never root for rival teams. Bears or bust.

I hate all other teams but some more than others. For those I hate more, the preference of course is that they lose.

Games not involving Bears are simply witnessing car crashes to me.
