My kids played this game at Chuckie Cheese Pizza. Hit one guy popping out of the hole and another pops up. Kinda like fix the offense and the D goes to shit. Well, hoping Fangio can hold up the D while we install a brandy new West coast offense. If the O increases TOP, the D pretty much becomes a terror under Fangio. We got some killers on D. Killer D?

    • willbest

I haven’t been in one for a couple years now, but the whack-a-mole is tucked off in the corner that nobody goes to these days. Back when I was a kid it was ShowBiz Pizza and the whack-a-mole was like the main event.

I heard they have started to redesign to make it more adult friendly recently.

USING THE CAPS LOCK, FREES UP MY OTHER HAND TO JERK OFF

  • That Guy

Weird to realize not only are the Bears are ahead of all the other teams with coaching vacancies, but only one other team has signed a HC.

Pace has another draft like last year’s, and we’re in for a fun 2018.

(Hoping for a couple good FA signings, too… but given Pace’s track record recently, I’ll take ONE good FA acquisition.)

    • Big Mike

He took a lot of shots at mid tier and “project” type guys in FA. When he went big first year ILB, we were set to have a pair of dominant defenders in Trevathan and Freeman. Freeman was actually the “stud”. Injuries have done him in. Trevathan has been fantastic. Does Freeman have anything left, besides suspension time?

      • Bender McLugh

I think we get another Freeman quality replacement in FA or the draft, no idea who though.

        • Big Mike

          Yep

      • $50M worth of shit in FA this yr.

        Thanks, Pace!

        • Big Mike

Akumura was a steal. He also structured team friendly deals.

          Get Outlook for iOS

    • willbest

The other guys probably have handshake deals with coordinators that are still in the playoffs. Considering how polished McDaniels was heading into the Bears interview (according Jeff rumor) you think he is going to get passed over this time? Shumer?

      • Shurmur might take Keenum w him too

I find the odder part that no college coach is being hired as HC. Esp given how many vacancies.

        Has that ever happened?

Could be a few reasons for that.

        -college pays mucho.
        – more security
        – more god powers/ worship
        – chip kelly hangover

        • CanadaBear

I think it’s what you listed and GM’s don’t have the network to find all the warts like they do in the pro game. NTM they can leave you high and dry if they run off back to the college game.

    • SC Dave

It just occurred to me that a possible factor behind all the “prove it” and short term FA deals is that Pace wanted to have *his* staff in place before making any big $ or long-term commitments. Except for obvious stuff like Hicks and Leno, that is.

      • CanadaBear

I always thought he was soft-pedaling FA due to the hideous roster, no QB and Foxy. Roster is better, QB is better and let’s hope like hell the coaches are better. I think he’s been keeping his powder semi-dry waiting until he see’s the light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s hope he starts shopping off the upper shelves and the momentum is real.

  • Big Mike

Are we here next year? Could be… 🙂 Bear Down.

    • BerwynBomber

All about Bisky making the jump.

Well, that and nabbing a professional receiver or two.

      • Big Mike

But you can see it in the realm of possibilities. Which is something hasn’t been the case for so long. Next year we are competing to be in the playoffs. The OL will get better with some more depth, maybe a lower round draft choice, but Hiestand the OL coach will get max out of group, strengthen the depth. This is such a great hire. He’s also a fantastic resource as a talent evaluator. Defense will get better. More young guns with talent on the 53 will make STs better. Offense.. no where to go but up. Can’t see how Trubisky goes backwards? Don’t know if he does the Carson Wentz, Goff thing, but new scheme, some new skill players, some guys returning from injury. Points up. Definitely points up.

        • BearDown100393

Not making the playoffs is unacceptable

        • SC Dave

The Hiestand hire definitely has me excited about the O.

        • I don’t expect Trub to take the Wentz-Goff leap

That WCO is complex. He’s going to have to throw to new WRs

I think Nagy and gang will implement more RPO to help Trub but it’ll still be rocky.

Of course I’m hoping he looks like Steve Young, but that’s my realistic expectation.

All that being said, can still make enough plays to win

          See, Jags

          • CanadaBear

I think it will be a little bumpy but by mid-season things start rolling a bit. Actually that’s all hope and nothing more!

          • Big Mike

            CB you have Bears PTSD.

          • CanadaBear

Big Time! I probably won’t be all in on the Beloved until about 5 minutes before they hoist the Lombardi trophy.

          • Big Mike

Good reasons. I’ll counter. He ran similar concepts in college. They have the entire offseason (+ an extra week because of new HC). MT is a quick study. He’ll work with the ones post draft/FA on. Howard/Cohen tandem in the WCO will be deadly. Also, and not to be over/undersold, the enthusiasm on Offense this offseason is going to be 10x.

Lastly, doesn’t have to take that huge leap. But he’s going to be significantly better.

      • SC Dave

And getting the OL back to form after a tough 2017.

I’m actually pretty much as excited about Hiestand as anything else that has happened. My opinion remains that great offenses ALWAYS start with the line, and it’s clear that Pace/Nagy get it.

Our Sunday Blues Jam has an outside balcony that holds about 20 people. There are people out there hooting it up the entire time the jam is going (4 hours). The cops have only come in once and that was to arrest someone that had an outstanding warrant (she slapped a cop). The cops bird dog this club the other 6 days of the week and leave us alone because the avg age is probably 60. 150-200 old cooties drinking, dancing, hooting it up and carrying on for 4 hours every Sunday. Good times!

          • CanadaBear

I was an organizer of a Blues fest back in the day and since I handled the money i had cops with me the entire time. The two in charge always said the same thing, “we aren’t going to arrest anyone for smoking pot unless they leave us no choice.” I always thought that was more than fair.

Do not be too proud of this coaching staff Pace has constructed. The ability to blow up Hobo’s crew is insignificant to the power of winning a Super Bowl.

      • leftcoastdave

The staff assembled is awesome and keeping Fangio YUGE. His players love him and he has produced a top ten D even while being tasked with an all too frequent three and out O. This is back to the Monsters of the Midway time in Chicago.
Nagy is a “been there, done that dude” who has always been a winner following his dream. He will bring others up to his level and bringing in a wild and crazy OC is the perfect change of pace for the NFC north Ds to try to stop. His first two additions to open up to the WCO/spread are a top notch O line coach to implement that phase and a WR he played with in the Arena to learn up the targets.
This is the implementation of a well thought out plan and it looks great.

        • BearDown100393

This staff should be better than its predecessor. Time will tell.

I go in at 6, count the cash in the safe ($2.5 mil on the weekends, $1.5 M-Th) and then start filling up all the atm’s. This casino had a 24/7 poker room and there were always people playing, always. By now it’s about 6:30 AM and I go into the poker room to fill up the ATM’s. There is a woman there with huge tits and they are just hanging out. She was loud and rowdy (I’m guessing a stripper) and the only person in the room she distracted with the girls was me!!!!!!!!! Fucking degenerate gamblers!!!!!!!!!!

She, almost word for word, said this: “Dad, wouldn’t it be a better idea to buy some of that stock you were talking about the other day (Aristocrat Fund ETF actually) because it will pay you money to own it? Mom will be mad at you if she sees this and if you have tiki drinks today.”
    Me: you’re grounded

Alas, someones fucked up kid will eventually get his hands on her and try to screw her up. That’s when i’ll have to decide if the family is stable enough at that point for me to kill said scumbag boy and bury him in some shitty scrap yard in Robbins IL.

    • CanadaBear

Again, when Mrs Waffle is up for Canonization, I want to be informed.

Amazing how smart kids are. I always thought I could handle raising boys but I knew I would be lost with girls. Way too much of a softie.

      • CaponeBot 1.0

at 7 i was borderline feral.

        • CanadaBear

I was the youngest of 6 so I got away with a lot.

          • Cormonster

Being the oldest, I made life so easy for my siblings. I taught my parents that harsh punishments only made me rebel more and make things worse.

        • Cormonster

Same here. Around that age, no matter how tired I was, I would refuse to come into the house during the day because I was afraid my Mom would make me take a nap. If I wanted some Kool-Aid or food, my Mom had to pass it to me through the door or bring it to me outside. There’s quite a few pictures of me sleeping in various positions in my yard or various neighbor’s yards. I even got busted a few times for shitting in my Mom’s garden or behind the garage.

I knew our phones sent out severe weather and amber alerts, so it shouldn’t be at all shocking that ballistic missile alerts were in there too.

I like this comment “Never realized how much I don’t want a push notification to be the last thing I see before I die”

    • willbest

The official story on this is not believable.

“It was a mistake made during a standard procedure at the change over of a
shift and an employee pushed the wrong button,” Governor of Hawaii
      David Ige tells CNN.
“The warning went out to cell phones, Television and radio got the
      emergency alert,” he says.”

So there is just a button. A button? One? Like a tool bar atop Word or Excel next to some other buttons that send out other prefabricated warnings? or like a button on a wall? No click to confirm? No two employee requirement? No enter authorization code? biometric?

    • KentuckyBearsFan

      “This is not a drill.”

      Bullshit.

  • AlbertInTucson

Looks pretty cold in Philly today.

    • CaponeBot 1.0

      that makes me sad.

      • Every time Foles talks, Vegas spread increases.

        • CaponeBot 1.0

gametime. when i win this the profit goes towards Pit and Rapermeister.

    • willbest

something happened it was projected to be warmer earlier in the week

  • Little noticed, Falcons DB have been balling one-on-one. Wonder how tight the refs call it?

Ertz is the wildcard, though Falcons are built on speed.

Curious to see how the Eagles decide to attack. They may try to ram Ajayi with the wind conditions, then hit Ertz in the seam.

Don’t think those PHI WRs will have a big day.

  • Choke city already

  • BerwynBomber

Except for the ultimate result that first drive by ATL looked very Pats-like.

  • BerwynBomber

ATL and the refs bailing out Foles thus far.

  • Eagles HBs trying to lose it

  • Foles oblivious.

Can’t take a sack there, idiot.

  • BerwynBomber

Bad drop on second down. That would have moved the sticks.

  • haha. the crowd noise drowned out Ryan’s clapping. Delay of game.
30 yd break for the Falcons.

    Go figure.

    • KentuckyBearsFan

I think the Falcons just wanted a few extra yards to avoid a touchback on the punt.

But everybody seemed confused and unenthusiastic before (and after) the snap.

  • SC Dave

The Falcons might want to think about tackling Ajayi.

    • BerwynBomber

Or getting off blocks … some of those holes are tractor-size …

      • SC Dave

Yeah… they just showed #90 pushed down the los and then pancaked by that big white boy at LT for the Iggles.

      • That’s the drawback of building a D on “speed”

Can get pushed around by psychical Oline and HB.

        • SC Dave

I want the Bears to brutalize speed defenses with 2TE, Burtin, and Howard.

And when they get tired, let them deal with The Freak.

  • SC Dave

Seeing that shot reminds me just how fucking cool the Chicago skyline is.

    • BerwynBomber

Best in the country, IMO. Even more impressive than NYC’s.

      • SC Dave

        #asgoodasitgets

  • SC Dave

Philly looking pretty comfortable on this drive so far.

    • Foles seems to have settled down.

  • What a block by Burton.
    Sealed that right side.
Maybe should’ve got him instead of Sims

    Smart play call too.

Away from Poe who blew up that middle on that play.

    • SC Dave

We are going to start seeing smart shit, msybe. For the first time in a while

      • Hope so, SC, hope so.

I was calling for all kinds of shit when they put Trub in, simple stuff like RPO, Read, draws…

Fox is such an idiot he didn’t even do screens to counter the blitzes till week 17 SMH

I don’t know how this new regime will do, but they can’t be that moronic and inept.

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

  • SC Dave

Why does this replay take so ficking long?

  • CaponeBot 1.0

The needle on my Falcons cuck meter is starting to awaken. I think Philly is just going to pound the rock and win this in a low scoring affair. Whoever took the under is going to be a happy man.

    • SC Dave

Someone posted 13-9 or thereabouts on the blog.

  • SC Dave

Wow… Atlanta +9 on turnover ratio last post season and this.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

there should be exceptions to that type of personal foul

  • SC Dave

And that call was what, exactly?

    Edit: nm

  • CaponeBot 1.0

i’m fucking done with the NFL. Game just got turned off….and i even want the falcons to win. not like a fucking bitch though.

Later boys, going to get some Tiki in my body.

    • SC Dave

Then you mmm iss shit like Ryan’s TD pass.

      No win scenario it seems.

  • Julio Jones best CB thus far

    • SC Dave

      Two passes defensed.

Edit: since I came in mid 1st quarter, anyway.

  • BerwynBomber

Hate the rollout with Ryan on 4th.

Only a handful of QBs I’m rolling out on that play. The rest are straight dropbacks, including Ryan.

    • willbest

      yep.

    • SC Dave

      A good game though.

  • SC Dave

    Encroachment there aint good.
    Game over with 1st down

  • KentuckyBearsFan

    FOLESYLVANIA!

  • And that folks, is why I don’t bet on football.

The wind was a QB equalizer. You can tell by those 2 ducks both QBs threw into the wind early.

After that, the game came down to coaches, running game, D and kickers, and the Eagles had the better ones today.

    Note to future self.

    • BerwynBomber

In retrospect, ATL should have run Coleman more. His YPR was beyond good.

      • That’s part of the coaching

But there were also key plays that totally turned the momentum.

That INT that bounced off the Falcon’s foot and into the hands of an Philly WR…I mean…that shoudl’ve been 7 going the other way – instead, Philly got a FG.

That’s like a 10 point swing that would’ve changed momentum.

That’s why gambling on football is high risk.

How the hell can anyone account for that shit?

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I predicted that exact play in a comment before the game started. Unfortunately I forgot to click post.

          • SC Dave

            Fib

        • SC Dave

Not sure I’d say 7 going the other way, but certainly NOT 3 for Philly.

  • BearDown100393

    Matty Iced

  • Cmonnnn Titans!

    • SC Dave

Sweet! At least the Patriots aint winning yet!

      • Takes balls to want the ball first.

        It’s like the anti-Fox.

Hope we get to that level.

        • SC Dave

          Next season.

  • Brady has all day thus far.

    Titans better get on him.

    • SC Dave

Except if they hit him, the Patriots will get 15 and a 1st.

  • BearDown100393

Mike Mularkey is the worst NFL HC in these playoffs.

    • SC Dave

Sort of makes me wonder whether or not the visiting teams talk about it.. you know, lets go beat those fuckers AND the refs…

  • Could it be?

    • willbest

      see last SB

  • willbest

    • Dark web defies logic

  • down

  • willbest

the zebras trying to throw it

    • Nah. That was correct call.

If he had not been down, and they blew the whistle, then no way to reverse it.

This way, can be reversed, as it will be.

      • willbest

but if it wasn’t a TD titans have to waste a challenge on a shit call

        • The refs aren’t going to blow the whistle early after last week’s fiasco of blowing plays dead when they shouldv’e been TOs.

  • BearDown100393

    NFL officiating is corrupt.

  • BearDown100393

    I hate New England.

  • willbest

    • willbest

its odd because i would have thought vegas would be on the titans side

  • BerwynBomber

Bullshit OPI call on TEN. That was a killer. And could be a game-changer.

  • BearDown100393

    This is over.

  • Aren’t those types of blocks illegal now?

    • BerwynBomber

Thought so. Schuster was suspended for a game for one.

  • BerwynBomber

    My god these reviews.

    • willbest

cut them some slack they have to confer with the Wynn and Adelson

  • BerwynBomber

The thing about Nance and Romo is that they seem to think these reviews are good television.

You need a Michaels or a Chucky to call bullshit.

    • BearDown100393

Gruden loved to exaggerate eagerness to watch some backup scrub. Romo lives for second guessing all scoring plays with video replay. The NFL might as well hire him to review all New York tape.

      • BerwynBomber

Yeah, Chucky loved the entire 53, but I’ll credit him for being the guy who was quickest to call bullshit and/or question refs, coaches, players and even the shield.

Wonder who ESPN moves into that slot. Steve Young?

        • BearDown100393

Brandon Marshall is waving his hand enthusiastically.

          {I like Gruden on X and O chalkboard stuff – especially quarterbacks}

  • KentuckyBearsFan

Those replays looked like a slow motion train-wreck, but only instead of the train, the focus was a close up of some guy’s ass that had nothing to do with the football.

  • willbest

    holding on a fair catch?

  • BerwynBomber

No DPI flag? NE? At NE? Wow …

  • willbest

    unfuckingbelievable

  • BerwynBomber

    SMFH …

  • BearDown100393

Titans might as well just walk off the field.

    • willbest

they should. that was bullshit. refuse to play

  • BerwynBomber

    Home-cooking in Foxboro …

  • BearDown100393

Regarding flags: The Patriots are the Bizarro Bears.

  • BerwynBomber

This is a horribly officiated game. Even miss-calling that White screen pass as a TD when his ass was clearly on the ground was a horrendous call bailed out by replay.

    • willbest

titans should get on the bus at halftime. kick the nfl in the nuts with the lost revenue

    • AlbertInTucson

“Horribly officiated” has become standard this post season.

  • BuddhaJoe

If I was on the Titans I’d just leave. This shit is an embarrassment.

    • BerwynBomber

Makes you wonder what else NE is getting away with. Like what is NOT called.

      • BuddhaJoe

It’s always been that way, they’re frauds. That’s why most of the people who leave there flame out.

  • BearDown100393

Titans defense looking more and more like “why bother”

  • BerwynBomber

Now THAT was OPI. Gronk clearly pushed off past five yards to get space.

    • willbest

if i owned the titans i would order my team off the field

  • BerwynBomber

That sucks. This game could have been truly competitive this first half.

Hell, TEN might even be leading if not for some of these calls.

    • SC Dave

Vegas always wins in the playoffs.

  • BearDown100393

One Triplette retires. Another Triplette emerges.

  • willbest

what the fuck are the titans doing

  • BerwynBomber

TEN has 7 penalties this half. NE has 1.

  • BearDown100393

Mularkey showing Lovie like prowess wasting timeouts.

  • willbest

    more opi cause

  • BuddhaJoe

Of course when they finally call NE they call illegal contact instead of the obvious PI so its only 5 yards. Bullshit.

  • willbest

    ugly

  • BerwynBomber

    Good lord Mularkey.

  • willbest

    good lord

  • BerwynBomber

    What a horrific call

    • willbest

how did NE have it read perfectly though

  • BerwynBomber

    Why????

  • BearDown100393

Why are the Titans offense honoring John Fox?

  • BerwynBomber

Grow some balls at halftime, Mularkey.

  • BuddhaJoe

Wow a missed facemask call, what a shocker. If that was Brady they would have already castrated the offender.

  • willbest

    more gifts

  • BerwynBomber

Surprised the refs didn’t signal that as good.

  • BerwynBomber

Mariota’s actually playing okay. If I’m TEN I put the ball in his hands in the second half. Even if he throws three picks, let him get the experience.

    Oh, and fire Mularkey tomorrow.

    • willbest

      inexcusable end of the half

      • BerwynBomber

Yeah, that should receive this year’s Andy Reid Award for Clock Management.

Not to mention running a smash play on fourth down with no TOs left.

  • BearDown100393

Titans players up against the Patriots, the officials and now their coaches.

  • willbest

this is over, see you all tomorrow

  • BearDown100393

Never saw a coaching staff so obviously quit in the playoffs.

  • KentuckyBearsFan

    well, this game is mullarkey.

  • BearDown100393

Next opponent better game plan the officials.

  • BearDown100393

Romo really full of sh*t tonight. Nobody wanted Belichick after Cleveland? The Jets thought they hired him before he bolted instead to the Patriots.

What a bunch of garbage. Disappointing.

  • BuddhaJoe

Was kinda looking forward to the Super Bowl but if those fucking scumbag Patriots are in it again I won’t bother. Skipped the last two they were in and never regretted it.

  • ButtonShoes

God I hate the Patriots. God I wish the Bears were like the Patriots.

  • CanadaBear

And the NFL can’t figure out how ratings are down. The fucking refs looked like they were from the WWF. I’m no genius but I really don’t think NE needed any help. If they never got another call in this year’s playoffs they are money ahead but you just know they will get a few more each game until the SB is in the books.

  • BerwynBomber

Titans were robbed the first half by the officiating. (We should never forget the NE dynasty was kick-started by the “tuck rule”.)

But Pats completely outclassed them the second half. The Belichick system is unmatched and Brady is the game’s greatest surgeon. That was a clinic.

    • willbest

titans came out in the second half zombies after getting fucked by the official s and their own coaching staff.
