Krenzel, Quinn, McCown, Hanie, Clausen, Hutchinson, Collins, Glennnon…..

    • Sahr Gborie

      Please stop triggering my QB-TSD

  • Sahr Gborie

We don’t need to commit Glennon-cide. Cutler is still here.

    • MB30SD

so you want to commit culter-cide. I don’t see much of a difference.

      • Sahr Gborie

Cutty is cheaper and the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know

        • MB30SD

the devil you don’t know MIGHT not throw 5-int games or get stripsacked twice a game. at least maybe not one of the two.

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

Does one ever truly know the devil?

      • Irish Sweetness

I’d rather go down with Cutty singing Goodnight Saigon any day of the week

        • MB30SD

OK, not me. Not in a million years. I’d much rather watch 300/2/0 and leave it up to the D and specials more often than rolling the dice between 185/3/5/2 and 400/4/2 and never know which any Fucking day of the week.

That shit crushes my soul and makes me want to throw shot at the TV.

          • Malice Halice

Real shit man. Pump the fuckin D to cap opp O’s to 17pts at the fuckmost. We can hit 17pts for sure man. Great D’s ain’t letting O’s punch 21+ on da clock

Chargers just released Bama’s own DJ Fluker.

I recall when Da Blog was hot to trot for Fluker.

    • MB30SD

      he’s turrible… and constantly injured

  • BearDown100393

The next poll should be the Mount Rushmore of terrible Bears quarterbacks. Mike Glennon may already be a lock.

    • MB30SD

you spell CUCK with a “cu” not a ‘lo”

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

If the Bears sign Glennon, I’ll be optimistic. We need a qb badly. This could be the 2nd wave that saves the Bears from having to use the 3rd pick on a QB. If the Bears don’t find a bridge quarterback, using the third pick on a quarterback is just a foregone conclusion.

    • MB30SD

I still so don’t get this. Maybe I’m just a moron. I’m willing to accept that explanation at this point.

      • willbest

Would you rather pay $12 million for Hoyer or $14 million for Glennon?

        Does it even matter?

        • MB30SD

          Hoyer, hands down.

Save $2 mill, have a guy who already knows the O, the players, the coaches, the system… and put that $2M into Poe or Bouye or whomever.

The win differential isn’t going to be big enough to justify the ‘big move’ and bring someone else new in who arguably isn’t any better and may be worse for an additional $2M

          • willbest

But if he reverts to his statistical mean, he is an older, more injured Glennon, that can’t throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field.

          • MB30SD

I just don’t get the drive to make a move. Hoyer/Barkley/Shaw/Glennon (and for S&G, let’s say Watson too).

how many wins do we get in 2017/2018 with any of these guys? Are any of them going to take us to the show? are ANY of those guys ‘that guy’? I just don’t see that.

So why bother, get ‘that guy’ next year when the risk has been greatly diminished

          • willbest

But Hoyer is a move too. He isn’t under contract. Pace clearly isn’t interested in giving up draft picks for his QB, or Jimmy is too much. And he clearly wants to move on from Cutler. And he apparently doesn’t think enough of Watson/Trubisky to draft them.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Starting to look that way (last sentence). If Pace gets Glennon, drafts a solid stud in the 1st round and picks up a solid QB prospect in the 2nd, it’ll rank as genius 5 years down the road. This signing may allow him to just focus on studs.

          • Sahr Gborie

and if it does not work? what then?

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Then you make sure he has some debilitating disease and he’s forced to retire early.

          • Sahr Gborie

            LOL

          • Irish Sweetness

Why drat the ‘solid prospect’ in 2 when you might see your guy in 1? We likely won’t be drafting so high next season, not often we go 3-13.

          • MB30SD

Yes, and that move is logical to me, not only because 300/2/0… because we’re all grown ups and we all know that invariably hoyer will as you said, revert to his mean, but because he’s a known entity.

He’s had one year in the system and he did well regardless of how far he can throw a football (fake or real)… it just doesn’t make sense to me to shake anything up and spend a anything extra than we have to already… especially on some cuck with not much more upside than what we have. 6-8 win potential is already ‘in house’.

          • Irish Sweetness

MB, it sounds like you’re doing a full reverse and are on board the Cutty train?

          • MB30SD

I’m on board the HOYER/Barkley/Shaw train

            Fuck cutler

          • Irish Sweetness

Really? I thought at least he had an arm on him.

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

If the Bears sign Glennon that’ll tell me they think he’s the best quarterback for them right now. At least they are trying to improve the franchise.

        • MB30SD

then I SERIOUSLY question not only their analysis but their fucking basic logic. Not to mention their fiscal understanding.

I gots to believe they know something we don’t man, how can this look like such a horrible move to erraone but them?

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Your last paragraph. I think the kid showed well after he was drafted. There were lots of buc fans that wanted to see him succeed before the lovie experiment.

          • BearDown100393

I really wanted Devin to succeed as a wide receiver…

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

So it WAS all lovies fault.

          • MB30SD

            of course

          • Sahr Gborie

            shots fired

          • willbest

MB do you realize that you have rejected every QB option except Hoyer?

Cutler – gotta move on. Romo – spinal explosion in game 3. Jimmy G (only for 2nd rounders not #3). Draft (not with #3 or 36, build the defense). Tyrod (not available).

We are legitimately at Glennon, Hoyer, Foles, Sanchez tier. Which is exactly where you want us to be. And yet you somehow can’t comprehend why Pace is choosing which of that shit list he thinks is the best option.

          • MB30SD

            not totally accurate my maings.

            Here’s what I want:

            1. Play the winner of the bears cuckstakes this year Hoyer/Barkley/Shaw (shaw and barkely can be/were had for a coke and a samgich)

            2. Get rid of culter because he’s a rollercoster and isn’t worth the heartburn in any direction.

            3. leave everything else on the table (glennon) and focus on QB in next year’s FA and/or Draft… we’ll have a competent backup from the cuckstakes this year.

3b. The win differential is marginal between everyone 1-3

            4. Go all in next year on a draft that’s already being called exponentially stronger for QB talent.

Not sure why that doesn’t make sense?

          • willbest

Because Pox found Barkley lacking? And Hoyer will want starter level money so you can’t have your competition.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

The downside to your scenario is that if the Bears do as you suggest and have an 8-8 season, you have to once again mortage the future for an unknown outcome. Think about it, if Pace can fix our QB problem this year for the longterm, it’s shuffle shuffle shuffle for years to come. Glennon could be Matt Ryan in the rough. A few years grooming and wa-la, Super Bowl here we come.

          • MB30SD

my point is, you mitigate your risk as much as possible. Glennon’s been in the league, he’s not our future.

You do what I suggest and 100% mortgage your future on next year’s crop where you might have your pick of 3-5 guys who are already considered stronger then any of this year’s options.

I kick the can and take a shot next year, but that’s just me.

          • willbest

You put in an 8 win season and you might not be able to mortgage your future. There are 3-5 now, but there could be 2 by draft day and you have the Browns and Jags sitting at 1 and 2 again looking for answers.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

If I’m Pace, I only follow your scenario if I don’t think I can solve the QB problem this year.

          • Irish Sweetness

I don’t think Pace thinks Watson/Kizer/Trubisky are ALL bums. He must like one of them. Watson’s a winner for starters.

          • Sahr Gborie

liking them and seeing them as the 10yr franchise that will elevate everyone is different.

liking a girl and loving a girl are 2 different things. i give the girl i like mcdonalds. i cook for the girl i love

          • Huge Bears Penis

Cook for her? that girl should be in the kitchen makin me a sammich!

          • Sahr Gborie

so we continue dragging in the mud with scrubs instead of going all in on some who has a bright future and is being called the next andrew luck (S.DARNOLD)

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

When you don’t have a high draft spot, the price goes up. On the bright side, if the Bears sign Glennon and fail, they can still trade up for a QB.

          • Sahr Gborie

to hell with that. might as well drag ass with cutler/destroya/barkley/shaw…they give you a better chance of the number 1 spot in 18

          • Irish Sweetness

They will fail under Glennon, which is why Pace won’t hire him. Pace is trying to win.

          • SC Dave

Broken record, and a stupid argument. If Darnold is that good, we wont get him because the Bears wont suck that badly

          • Sahr Gborie

            sell the farm

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

            Unless the bears bend over.

          • chitownproud85

We are a Glennon away from a Super Bowl eh? Wonder how the rest of us never thought of that.

            ..I’ll wait.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

The longer Cutler stays on the team, the further away the Bears get. That is a fact.

          • Waffle

that is simply not true. The Bears got further away as they lost all of the D and special teams pieces of the 2006 team with the last vestiges of D semi respectability coming in 2012 and even then it was kind of embarrassing.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

In terms of record, I was stating a fact. I was juxtaposing the previous comment.

          • Irish Sweetness

Nah. IFF he’s healthy this season, and IFF all is well with thumb and shoulder, he could have a career best year, which puts us in the playoff picture.

          • Irish Sweetness

            He’s 27, Trac.

          • SC Dave

            Shaw is already signed FWIW.

          • MB30SD

yes, that’s why I put the can/is already had line in there

          • Irish Sweetness

Suppose we go 9-7 this season …. and the studs are picked before us.

          • Sahr Gborie

then we sell the farm for the number 1 spot. our d will be in place to win us games while the rookie goes through growing pains

          • Irish Sweetness

Ah, we’ve sold the farm before for a QB and it wasn’t worth it. Can’t think when it was ever worth it for a team.

          • MB30SD

You don’t let that happen. You do whatever you have to to get your guy before the draft even kicks off. Do your deal offer what you have to.

That’s why they call him a franchise. You just better be damn sure he’s the right guy otherwise he’s just as risky as picking up Glennon and going 4-12ish this year

          • Sahr Gborie

            beautiful analysis

          • Irish Sweetness

It is just a rumor. This Glennon thing is just clickbait. Pace isn’t cutting Cutty to hire Glennon. If he is, then he’s a fuck-knot.

          • MB30SD

Or he’s getting serious pressure from above

      • Huge Bears Penis

        maybe?

        • MB30SD

          possibly

    • Sahr Gborie

if you are going for glennon-cide you might as well go for the destroya and save your draft ammo for 18(darnold)

      • willbest

Glennon is a free agent. Unless your argument is, that by signing Glennon for $15 million the Bucs are basically assured a 3rd round comp pick.

      • MB30SD

        bingo!

      • Irish Sweetness

Won’t that be the #1 pick?

        • Sahr Gborie

i don’t honestly see us going 0-16 in 17. i thing we break even in 8-8.

    • Irish Sweetness

Erm .. Cutty … Connor Shaw ….. signed up already Trac. The band is back together!

      (hits bum chord)

  • BearDown100393

Watching Tony Romo die on Soldier Field’s turf might provide the most entertainment in a non-playoff season anyway.

  • Zap Rowsdower (GP)

No 3rd year GM who wants to be a 10 year GM decides to acquire a stop-gap QB via FA.

It doesn’t happen. Not with the 3rd pick.

We’re getting Trubinsky guys, unless the Niners snatch him. I will bet on this.

    • 505Bears

Had to down vote it, because i hope you are wrong, but seems the Bears are destined to jack up this draft too.

    • willbest

If Pace were using #3 to draft a QB, he would have been all in on Cutler until draft day.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Uh GP? You’re forgetting an important fact. This is the Bears we are talking about, right?

    • 505Bears
      • MB30SD

        jes please

    • Irish Sweetness

He’ll probably draft one of them at 3. I like all 3 the same. We haven’t really had the mobile-athlete QB yet ….

      • Sahr Gborie

the mobile athlete-qb is just icing on top. we just need a qb: brady/the guy up north/manning/luck. to hell with all that running for touchdowns. just give me a qb who can throw touchdowns

        • Irish Sweetness

The game is changing though. Pocket passers are so 1986. Some of these QBs are running for 8 …10 TDs. They extend plays, make first downs, scoot out of trouble. It’s a thing.

          • willbest

And they have a higher risk of being chewed up.

  • 505Bears

Hell with it. Put Meredith at QB.

    • willbest

He does have a 118 pass rating as a Bear.

      • Irish Sweetness

With a TD pass to Barkley …

    • Sahr Gborie

why not. we have nothing to lose at this point…no pride/no balls…not nothing

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

I’ve got a poll for you guys. If the Bears don’t improve our QB situation this year and lose 10 or more games, will Pace keep his job?

    • Sahr Gborie

yes. ownership trust his judgment. he has vastly improved the team. he can always say he just needs a new coach (J.HARBAUGH)

    • willbest

Pace will lose his job at the conclusion of the 2017 season if
      1) Trubisky or Watson is drafted after #3 puts in an OROY performance
      2) Jimmy G or Cutler hoist a lombardi trophy while not being a member of the Bears

      • willbest

oh and he should lose his job if he doesn’t fire Fox’s ass after missing the playoffs 3 years in a row.

        • Sahr Gborie

unless he finds a competent replacement

        • BearDown100393

Because the McCaskeys will obviously eat a year off the contract.

          • willbest

They did with Lovie. And Trestman. And Emery.

      • Sahr Gborie

1 – they have to land on a team that is loaded and ready to go
        2 – maybe

you are also assuming that jimmyg & cutler are all a team needs to get to the next level. if they hoist the lombardi trophy it will be because they were on a team that was on the verge of getting there any way

        • willbest

OROY is probably overstating it. A promising Wentz rookie outing by one of them would make Pace look really bad, but not enough to get him canned.

          • Sahr Gborie

hindsight says we should taken WENTZ…DAMN…but it also gives me hope that LORD PACE knows what he is doing

          • willbest

He started crazy but regressed as people adapted to him. 62% completion and 6.2 Y/A a 1.15 to 1 TD:INT. Much of their problems weren’t on him however. Does he take a sophomore step? who knows. If he does it will be a coup, if he doesn’t it will be a good attempt.

          • Sahr Gborie

the league adapts to every qb: wentz, rg3, kap…..the mark of a true qb is adapting to the leagues adaptation

      • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

Cutler hoisting a Lombardi. Don’t think Pace is losing sleep over that scenario , and even then The rest of the NFL would look stupid too for not throwing even a measly 7th tp a “SB caliber QB”

      • Irish Sweetness

Cutty in Houston could be a thing.

  • Sahr Gborie

Just had a CRAZY thought: if we go GLENNON-CIDE:
    1. we could always trade him mid season to a team that needs a QB is we are sucking ass
    2. we win the big one and trade him in the off season to a QB starved team when is is red hot and we sell the farm for a young QB(S.DARNOLD)

BTW and WAAAAAY off topic. I’m watching the BBC Sherlock Hollmes series with my son and it is killer. Frodo is Sherlock. Must watch TV. Four years of three episodes in the can, each episode about 90 minutes.

        • willbest

          Elijah Woods is Benedict Cumberbatch?

He did the motion capture and voice for Smaug though. Watson (Martin Freeman) was Bilbo Baggins though.

          • leftcoastdave

Cumberbatch is Sherlock. Thank you for the correction. I was relying on what my son said. Saw all the movies and loved them. Read the books in 7th grade and again when the movies started coming out . Tolkien was a genius. Nearly Shakespearean in depth.

The point of course being, Sherlock is must see TV.

    • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

There’s lots of lying going on though.

Mike Glennon’s agent (apparently himself?) or some other 3rd party could’ve started the rumor, and Pace having NO interest in Glennon, could easily just be sitting back laughing doing nothing to dispel the rumors cuz secretly he’s working for Jimmy G or really wants Hoyer back without a bidding war.

Tis the season of misdirection and obfuscation (like that ridicules 3way trade rumor for Cousins)

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

Could be they’re trying to get Belicheat to come down in price.

The people got Cutler and they cheered.
Then they got Peppers and they cheered.
When they got Marshall, they cheered.
When Angelo got fired, they cheered.

Cheering ain’t all its cracked up to be.

    • BerwynBomber

Peppers was pretty beastly though. Never quite reached the sack totals some would have liked but he ate up a ton of double-teams, still registered double-digit sack seasons, was tough in the run game and was an absolute stud in pursuit.

Jared Allen OTOH was a one-trick pony and once he could no longer perform that one-trick he was next to useless.

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

But the Bears are always the last to find out.

we did not draft: CUTLER/PEPPERS/MARSHALL….see the pattern

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

        I see, I see.

Mine eye it see’s the glory of the coming of the….

        • Sahr Gborie

i believe our biggest problem has been bad drafting by people who did not have a shot/long term plan. LORD PACE has a plan to build a young core of players through the draft while mentoring them with free agents who come from teams that are proven winners….can anyone say the same for angelo/emery?

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Your words have the ring of truth to them.

    • SC Dave

What the hell was wrong with getting Peppers? He was a stud for us. Best DE by far since Dent.

      • Sahr Gborie

yes he was a stud. but h alone was not enough to get us over the edge. angelo/emery always thought we were one big signing away from competing. they did not have a true understand of their rosters strength and weaknesses

LORD PACE does. his signing show that it takes more than one player to get your over the edge. it takes several players in FA along with years of good drafting.

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

Ahem…eye was bashing “cheering”, not Peppers.

Peppers is playing in 2017. God bless off-season juice.

  • Malice Halice

I swear fo god if we get Glennon imma b so pissed. Jesus what r they thinking?! Glennon?! I rather give the Pats our number 3 than this Fuck tard who got dumped twice by his team for 15 mill

    • MB30SD

      “fucktard” is one word malice.

      • DaMurph

        Not hyphenated? Fuck-tard? Lmao

        • MB30SD

          sure, that’d work

    • SC Dave

      So pissed you can’t type?

  • DaMurph

I can’t believe they think Glennon is a better choice than any of the top three available in the draft. He couldn’t hold the starters job in fucking Tampa!! I’ll question anything Pace does if he signs this cocksucker to a big contract.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

The Bears might be doing what the Seahawks did when they signed Mike Flynn and drafted Russell Wilson that same year. It’s a heady decision. Sign a potential bridge guy, draft a QB and make them compete. Let the best man win.

Anything more than a 1yr or incentive laden 2 year deal will be insane.

      • SC Dave

Wilson was the #75 pick in the draft. If the Bears have their eyes on someone that far down, no one seems to know about it.

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

Im starting to think that based on Pace’s comments that he’s made in the past, I think he’s going to throw everything he has at the quarterback position. This is his number one task, to fix/solidify the position.

    • SC Dave

Agree if it’s a *big* contract; i.e. multi-year at high dollar.

It seems unlikely that any QB that survives the first round this season is not someone they should spend higher than, say, a 4th rounder upon. And drafting a reach at #3 carries a YUGE opportunity cost on the defensive side of the ball.

    • Sahr Gborie

it might be that LORD PACE does not like what he sees in the draft and would rather have a stop gap QB with a killer defense. instead of wasting a top 3 pic on QB he does not believe in. just look at who he wanted to sing: MARIOTA/WENTZ….but didn’t because the price was too high…he knew even if it worked it would devastate the franchise by setting it back years

      • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

But Pace could also have buyer’s remorse in NOT going all in on them.

This yr at #3 maybe ge says fuck it

        • Sahr Gborie

i hear you. but if he did not go all in on mariota/wentz and we know he was high on them why do it at 3 for players he and the rest of the league are not excited about?

might as well continue to rebuild the monsters of the midway for the next franchise qb

  • MB30SD
    • Zap Rowsdower (GP)

      I know crazy right?

    • beninnorcal

Wow, I guess they know from the VIN? That’s really badass

  • beninnorcal

I’m not happy about the idea of Glennon as a Bear. But if it’s a ploy to draft one next year instead of this year then I’m fine with it. I heard that next years draft has a way better crop of qb’s(I don’t watch a lot of college ball because I’m a shitty person).

    • Sahr Gborie

nothing wrong with not watch college ball. next years calls is considered way better than this year. everyone is agreed that nxt years will have at least 4-5 possible franchise qb

  • BerwynBomber

The plan might be Glennon and our second round pick on a QB. Derek Carr was taken at almost the exact spot where we draft in the second round and his contract is dirt cheap — 4 years/5.5M total, 3.3M guaranteed. I assume this is indicative of a rookie QB’s salary chosen in the second round.

Hence, Glennon and a rookie would cost us roughly the same as what we paid Cutty last year. The trick with Glennon is nothing beyond two years, and structure the contract so the second year is less costly than the first.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Yup. This is kinda what I’m thinking.

    • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

IF Glennon is indeed in the cards, hopefully they learned from the Oz debacle.

I wouldn’t even mind if everything is front loaded for THIS yr, with minimal cap hit next season.

It’s not as if we’re contending for the SB this yr anyways, and we have the cap.

Just backload some other FAs that we know are in our long term plans to offset cap

(like for instance, if we sign Bouye or whatever, give him some cash this yr, but much more next season, etc).

  • willbest

It really depends on who they draft at 3. Signing Glennon doesn’t change that

  • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

    Latest rumors.

Browns willing to trade Pats their 12th for Jimmy G.
That’d be a helluva get. Garrett and Jimmy G in one season.

Ugh, Jack Doyle, my #1TE target, resigned. Would’ve made a perfect Bear

Jaack Doyle boy at Irish Pride parade…

Bouye favored to stay put, so hopefully that leaves us with Gilmore.

    • Bender McLugh

Doyle would have been great, totally agree

      • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

Yes, I think he outperformed their other TEs.

“Colts re-signed TE Jack Doyle to a three-year, $19 million contract.

The deal includes $9.5 million guaranteed. Another $2 million is possible through incentives. A onetime fantasy punch line, Doyle emerged as the Colts’ No. 1 tight end in the absence of Coby Fleener, out-playing Dwayne Allen in 2016. Doyle posted a 59/584/5 line
compared to Allen’s 35/406/6, and even earned better blocking grades from Pro Football Focus. The yardage and catches were both more than Allen has ever posted in a season. There’s been little chatter on the matter, but the Colts could create $2.937 million in cap space by cutting Allen.”

Also, the Cards resigned Gresham, my #2 TE for Bears.

        Fak.

I think Escobar is still out there (the TE, not the Druglord)

        • Malice Halice

          V. Davis around

          • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

I like V Davis as an insurance plan. That’s what he was for the Skins last season, and did pretty well when called upon.

But, he’s 33. Eventually those 4.3 wheels will fall off (he’s prolly closer to 4.6 now)

        • willbest

I believe Jordan Cameron is an FA. Fins traded for JT, doubt they are going to resign him.

          • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Forget-me-Naught!(Butch)

Jordan Cameron is one concussion away from retiring.

He may even retire now, otherwise, I would like him.

        • leftcoastdave

FA money better spent elsewhere with the studs available in late rounds or even UDFA’s. Look at Kittle from Iowa. Iowa knows offensive linemen. Kittle can block and catch but ranked down at fifth or lower. Value indeed.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

      Make Cleveland great again?

That is one way to keep costs down. They find out of all the tax regimes, property taxes are the most sensitive to taxpayer revolt. Thats why they love them some VATs nobody notices they are being bled dry.

  • Malice Halice

Has any sloppy seconds qb ever turned out to be great? Not brady or Rodgers they blew up with their base team. I mean a legitimate #2 or 3 going to another team and putting in work? I ain’t no football historian but I highly fuckin doubt it. This Glennon talk is outrageous! We can put that 15mil to another few savage ass players. I hope Pace is mindfucking the media. I hope man

    • BerwynBomber

Other than Sid Luckman, no Bears QB ever turned about to be great.
