    Konichiwa bitches…

Meh, the prize isn’t worth the effort. Watching a late season game of an 8 – 8 (exceeded expectations) team. With a big chance to watch them get waxed while you freeze your ass off.

Yes. Sad. This is where we are.

    • Bender McLugh

hell naw I want those tickets regardless of where they are at. I’ve only been to one game in the new stadium and it was pre-season. My rowdyness in the stands was not appreciated.

      • MB30SD

        I’ve been… 3 times now?

        Hahahaha… video?

    • CanadaBear

If past history is relevant, it’s not like the prize will be awarded. More like 2 Bear Jew T’s and the remaining supply of Cutler/Marshall T’s. Winner pays the shipping!

      • MB30SD

        hahaha

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

what are you talking about? we are going undefeated. you will get a chance to witness history.

    • Ososfan

I’ll freeze my ass off to watch the beloved for free. Have some hope. We are playoff bound this year…….hopefully!!

So he’s somehow acquitted of a separate double murder and then immediately hangs himself? What a weird end to that piece of trash.

Must have been ready to spill Belichik’s secrets to cheating. Hoodie got to him in a locked cell.

      • Sahr Gborie

Under Massachusetts law Aaron Hernandez suicide voids murder conviction. Based on a legal principle dating back to English common law called “abatement ab initio” that applies to his case. “Ab initio” translates to “from the beginning” that reverts a case to its start if the convicted party dies before the appeals process has concluded

        • CanadaBear

Wouldn’t it be easier just not to kill anyone?

          • Sahr Gborie

            you would think so

          • Johnnywad

And just let them disrespect him like that? How could he carry himself on the streets and feel like a man? Ok, well other than the millions of dollars, etc?

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

was he charged/convicted under Massachusetts law or Federal?

          • Sahr Gborie

            Massachusetts law

      • BerwynBomber

The double murder trial sounded like a disaster from the prosecution’s perspective. In fact, the defense’s claim that it was his drug dealer acquaintance who actually killed the victims seemed semi-credible.

And yes, the timing of the suicide seems fishy. He is acquitted of two murders, his attorney is working on an appeal for his initial conviction, and NOW he kills himself? Odd.

        • willbest

His life was ruined over it. Plus the civil suits from the victims family for money.

      • TomC

As a long-time lurker and very occasional poster, I can say that there’s a pretty high potential barrier to joining the conversation. If you haven’t been reading the threads regularly for years, you don’t get half the references and can’t tell if any individual statement is meant in earnest or irony. Not a criticism (I enjoy reading most of it), just an observation.

        • CanadaBear

Doesn’t matter. We’re trading down until we’ve accumulated 24 sixth round picks. We’ll be using them all to draft raw, athletic quarterbacks from D2 schools and shore up our Special Teams.

That, or we’re giving up our 1,2 and next year’s 1 to move up to the top of the draft and take Mahomes. I’m not sure which.

      • BerwynBomber

Credit Tennis, which is an actual sport played by athletes. Unlike golf.

        • BearDown100393

I don’t crap on tennis. Played it a few summers as a kid. That is work.

          • BerwynBomber

Indeed. Requires loads of endurance and supreme (kinetic) hand-eye coordination.

Played a ton in my twenties and my early thirties. Then took up (yawn) jogging and cycling. The hardcourts were brutal on my knees.

          • CanadaBear

One of my sisters taught me how to play just so she could beat me like a drum. I was terrible at it. I tried handball in my 30’s but my knees said no dice. Thank goodness for cycling because otherwise I might have had to lap swim year round. UGH. I quit that about 20 years ago and never looked back.

          • BerwynBomber

I was pretty much a tennis junkie for about 15 years. Could hold my own against low-level college guys and played three or four times a week. But yeah those hardcourts are rough on the knees. By my early thirties became tougher and tougher to bounce back from a match.

And yeah found cycling (I know you’re big on it) was fantastic for the knees. Strengthened them with no high impact damage. Took up jogging a bit later if only because of crowded urban areas are a pain to cycle.

          • CanadaBear

Cool! I’m almost recovered from the second knee replacement so now I just need to start walking a lot and build up the muscles. I ride the trainer every other day for an hour and work out my upper body the other days. Not pretty to look at (still fat) but pretty solid. I can only imagine what it’s like riding where you live. Overall I handled it OK but there were a few times where I thought some asshole driver might take me out.

          • MB30SD

            LOOOOVE lap swimming.

Cost of entry is high since at first it’s BRUTAL. and literally one lap makes you pant like a dawg on an alabama summer’s day… but once you get in shape and get the rhythm… it’s medatative, even hypnotic. You’re in this little bubble it’s just you and your thoughts.

            love it.

          • SC Dave

Hmmm…. maybe I should try that. Except the chlorine fucks me up some in nose and ears.

          • CanadaBear

They make those wire clips for your nose and they work quite well. I always used one. Not sure about the ears. For me it would make my skin crawl. I just wanted to scratch constantly. Not good.

          • MB30SD

try finding a salt water pool. It still has chlorine, but less.

Also, I ALWAYS use ear plugs. I HATE water in my ears. Shouldn’t go into your nose ever… always blow out.

          • CanadaBear

I used to do it every winter. Would swim for 90 minutes (1.5+ miles). Not fast but steady. Two things make it hard for me; #1 you gotta go there and #2 all the chlorine. I can do the meditation thing with my trainer (with a little help from herbal therapy).

          • MB30SD

            hahaha

It would be hard to beat the train wreck that was the Rams last year.

Even as much editing as they clearly did, you could still tell the org was a total clusterfuck and Goff was getting the shaft.

    • BerwynBomber

Doesn’t every team have to appear, eventually? Seems like the Bears would be better off knocking this assignment off during the Trestman and Fox years than when we might actually be good. And from a pure entertainment perspective, the show missed a golden opportunity in not filming Trestman, BMarsh, Cutty, Uni, Emery, etc.

      • BearDown100393

This Week On Hard Knocks: John Fox takes a long nap.

      • CanadaBear

There’s some weird rules about appearing on the show but I’m not privy to them. It would have been unbelievably painful to watch at the time but I’m sure in retrospect Nessman and the boys w/special (and we do mean special) guest PE, would have been comedy gold.

        • Ososfan

I think any team with a losing record is automatically in the drawing to be in hard knocks and a losing team can’t be on the show consecutively, so, eventually, the bears might be on if they keep having a losing record……

          • CanadaBear

That doesn’t bode well for the Beloved.

  • King of DBB

Hub just released his 2.0 Mock about 2 hours ago:

    http://www.profootballweekly.com/lists/2017/04/19/c6706b58460c4fbeb5ade6eb43b31b9a/index.xml?page=1

He’s sticking with Allen from his 1.0 Mock, which seems to completely undercut what he’s been saying on the radio, which is that we want Watson.

Hub claims that Allen is “clearly” the 2nd best player in the draft after Garrett and the Bears need him at 5-tech to play RDE.

    • rumors I’ve been hearing a lot lately from pretty much everybody in the media are that Watson is likely to fall to late round 1. I’m guessing Pace is hoping to land a D stud at top of round 1 and trade up into the 20s for Watson, which will likely cost pick 36 + an extra 4th (or 3rd, depending on how high they go). They currently have 2 4th round picks, so losing one wouldn’t be a huge deal.

I think Pace’s ideal would be trading back from 3, picking up an extra 2nd, and then trading up for Watson too. So pick somewhere in 6-10 range for D playmaker, 20-30 range for Watson, have another 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th. That’s Pace’s dream for this draft, I think.

Of course, that requires not 1 but 2 trades in the 1st round. So we’ll see how well he can actually pull that off. He might be willing to settle for picking somebody at 3, trading r2+r4 for Watson (that’s usually an easy trade to make, assuming Watson is still there), and still having a 3rd and 4th.

      • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

Watson would be such a waste. He would not be able to beat Glennon next year. Learning to become drop back pocket passer after entering the NFL is just too much to ask.

        • MB30SD

          agree 100%

what does that say about this year’s class that he’s by far the best of them (in my mind)

        • Johnnywad

Is that true anymore? Didn’t Cam Newton and Marcus Mariota both run bullshit college offenses?

      • MB30SD

who’s your pick again for D stud in the first data?

It’s a white linebacker from Phoenix University Online.

I heard he’s good at stuffing the… donut.

        • I really can’t say much without having watched film on these guys. But guys who I think would fit the Pace mold for a high 1st round pick so far are Thomas, Lattimore, and Hooker. All have the length and athleticism Pace seems to value in those super high picks.

          • MB30SD

And the massive injury red flags. Sweet!

          • BerwynBomber

Seems typically weasel-y of Brady. Won’t stand by his man for PR purposes. Then again, his mother has been sick so maybe the excuse is legit.

          • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

Brady has to protect his brand and commercial interests. $$ wins every time. It is not political correctness. It is simply about money.

Just look at Fox News. For years Rupert Murdoch tolerated known sexual predators Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reily. Murdoch even forked millions to settle the sexual harassment lawsuits on their behalf (Fox News settled Ailes lawsuit for $20 million and a bunch of O’Reily lawsuits for 13 million).

But once the ad dollars dried up as advertisers were shamed into dropping ads as more and more women came forward, old Rupert shit-canned the two guys who made him billions in a hurry.

          • BerwynBomber

Wouldn’t disagree with that. My only issue with Brady is that he only backed off once he took heat for the MAGA support. Fucking just own it once you have gone that far.

Ah well, no biggie. So long as Shea gets the WH tour is all that matters.

Crappy move by the Cubs. Then again they’re a franchise that, >20 years ago, began scalping their own tickets across from Wrigley.

    http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19189422/chicago-cubs-ask-non-players-sign-agreement-discouraging-sale-world-series-rings

    • BearDown100393

      Different ownership.

    • CanadaBear

I would happily sign to get a ring worth 20K or more. Basically it’s just a don’t sell it clause. They gave out a pile of those rings.

      • BerwynBomber

Putting restrictions on gifts to people kinda kills the sentiment. And why would the Cubs care if some custodian wants to sell his for some much needed cash? Goes back to the same thing when they began scalping their own tickets.

        • CanadaBear

I get where you’re coming from but from what I’ve read the Cubs have been exceedingly generous with the rings. Don’t know about you but I’ve never worked anywhere when this has happened. Different strokes. No doubt Cubs mgmt is monetizing every last thing they possibly can.

So Hub in his other article dismissed the knock on Garrett, which is that he coasts, aka he “Goes Julius” on plays. He puts that on the high number of snaps he was involved with at A&M.

Hub thinks Garrett is the best D player to come out in several years and all but wants them to start molding his Canton bust now. High praise.

Wasn’t everyone saying yesterday that Hub don’t know shit?

Rumor: J Hernandez had “John 3:16” scrawled across his forehead in blood.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

It was not religious. It was actually a confession. He also killed some guy named John on March 16th.

Wouldn’t be refreshing if the “law of unintended consequences” finally made victims of its originators rather then their patsies?

Just imagine… the liberal media’s attempt to shut down opposing viewpoints instead shuts them down?

There is an expression here in South Carolina – “what goes around, comes around”. Perfect.

The biggest, most bizarre fake news story that I remember in the last year is the fake news story by the Washington Post about supposed right wing fake news sites, citing a fake study by a fake political organization that had no know members. That fake story ran on a Friday night, and all the fake MSM newspapers and TV stations ran with it for the entire weekend without any of those “news” organizations actually doing any of their own research before citing the piece. You couldn’t make that shit up.

It’s telling that none of the big MSM organizations criticized or ostracized Politico reporter Glenn Thrush after he let the Hillary campaign edit and rewrite his news stories about the HIllary campaign that was revealed in one of the Podesta email dumps. Instead of being run out of the business for unethical behavior, the New York Times actually hired the shill after the election.

The current occupier of the White House got his political juice by peddling the fake news that the 44th president of the United States was an illegal alien.

His supporters ate up that shit without proof. And now they are the ones complaining about fake news..

      Breitbart link?

      Enough said.

  • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

This kid needs to learn when to shut up. Why is he saying this shit?

Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes said he clicked with with Texans coach Bill O’Brien.
“I feel like a lot of coaches like me, but especially coach O’Brien,” said Mahomes. “I think my personality and how real I am, those are things beyond what I can do on the field that he likes.”

    • SC Dave

Because his agent has told him to?

      • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

He sounds gullible..and desperate. Teams are nice to all visiting players and put on show without revealing their true intentions. They are not going to invite him for a visit and tell him we don’t like you and we will not draft you.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

it is true teams put on shows. But most people can tell when they click with someone. Have you never met people that within 5 minutes you knew you would work good together, no matter the situation. Sounds to me more like honesty than gullibility.

          • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

Even if Bill O Brien told him i really like you, your play etc. , it is not wise to tell that to the whole world. A generic ‘I had a good visit’ would suffice. I am sure no GM or Head Coach would appreciate a prospect giving too much detail of a visit. It is one thing Texans telling Clowney he will be their #1 pick and completely different when they are picking way back at 26.

FYI: No fewer than three teams in top 15 who want McCaffrey, have made calls about cost to move up if he’s available.

Hope 1 or 2 calls were made to Pace who reportedly is ‘antsy’ to trade down.

A white RB going at #3… preposterous.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Hard to envision that.

      • Sahr Gborie

So was giving up an entire draft class for a player at one time. So preposterous. Yes. Possible. Yes

Also think of Matt Forte. They like the pass catching. Lots of ways to exploit it to your advantage.
