• “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

    very insightful.

    • DaBearsBlog

I think that sums it up nicely. And I don’t think Fox wants to make change.

      • EnderWiggin

        He fuckin better!

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I agree – I don’t think Fox wants to make the change either. I can not figure out why Glennon wasn’t benched last night. If you are going to keep your starters in through the end of the game, why not put the kid in and get him some experience?

        • Sahr Gborie

Forget the experience. Why not put MT in to give you a chance to win.

I think it was Carr who said that Glennon can’t even do a simple roll out which is one of the things that MT had shown he was good at during preseason.

        • SC Dave

He mumbled something along the lines of “it was not an ideal situation to put Mitch in”. Not saying I agree with it, but thus was/is the mindset of John Fox.

Based on that Hicks tweet, it would seem that the team has had about enough. If Fox is the “player’s coach” he is purported to be, he needs to consider the rest of the roster’s thoughts over those of a bad QB.

          • Sahr Gborie

Agree 100%. How can Fox possibly be a players coach when he’s leaving the other 52 players out to dry just for the sake of 1 player?

          • SC Dave

You have to think the rest of the guys *tried* to be supportive, but the season is 1/4 gone, and without immediate improvement, this is another lost season.

      • Sahr Gborie

If Fox doesn’t want to make a change at the QB position then a change needs to made at the HC position

        • Dave Baron

Not if…. it DOES need to happen, Fox is too conservative and has mismanaged easily a handful of games. I think the players respect Fangio but we need to bring someone in that can develop a QB….. and I’m sorry our OC-Danny Divito look a like is not the guy to replace Fox. Not sure why he was every thrown out as a HC in house option?

      • Nancy Glennon

Mr. Fox should not make a change. Once Mikey emerges from the fetal position that he has been in since last night, he will bounce back and be great.

        • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

you love talking about mommy and being in bed with mommy and now portraying mommy. You’re a weird old man dude. How many 1950’s dolls do you have covered in the skin of real people?

          • King of DBB

            It puts the lotion on!!!’n

          • Nancy Glennon

            What are you talking about???

      • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

LOL! I just refreshed and realized you changed your main post. I think you should have left the picture of Bear the Cat.

      • SC Dave

I don’t know whether an in-game change would have helped (as Fox said, there were a LOT of things wrong last night), but the greater concern is that Glennon starts against the Vikings.

The NFL is alleged to be a performance-based league, and it should be clear what that means w.r.t. the Bears QB position.

And while we’re at it, a new kicker and a professional WR or two wouldn’t hurt either.

        • Sahr Gborie

I don’t know what MT can do about the kicker but MT can help to improve our receiving Corp just by being a competent QB

          • SC Dave

Agreed, but there have been far too many drops of fully catchable balls, and I still don’t remember a Bears player, on offense OR defense, winning a contested pass.

      • ButtonShoes

I don’t think either Fox or Pace wants to.

      • Bender McLugh

I think Fox has his hands tied, he was piiiiiissed last night but didn’t make a QB change, even to Sanchez? Something else is at play here.

  • Sahr Gborie

Who still thinks Giraffe should be the starter?

    • BearDown100393

      Fox

  • Cuck Cooper

How can anybody justify spending their hard earned money and planning their day around watching this team? I’m contacting the FTC to complain.

  • BearDown100393

McCaskeys, Phillips, Pace and Fox killed a rivalry last night. There is no rivalry. That implies competitive competence and a will to win. To which neither is found.

Bears fans defending any remenent of this crap are dupes.

  • SC Dave

Doubt I’ll be able to watch the All-22 this week. What an abject shit-show.

Two guys off the street shut down our pass rush, our QB was on quaaludes, our K missed another, etc. etc.

Was there anything at all to be encouraged about, other than we might now be done with Glennon?

    • BearDown100393

Danny really used his head out there

  • Scharfinator

Giraffes don’t naturally live on football fields. That’s why he is so unaware, awkward, and scared.

I really couldn’t think of a better word for Glennon’s play. He plays scared. You CANNOT do that in a game where 11 alpha males are ready to crush your skull every play.

    • Bears-4-Ever

Your saying if we plant a tall tree on the field that he can chew once in a while he’ll feel better?

      • BearDown100393

Giraffe really starts to find his rhythm after turning over the football multiple times, down by 3 scores and against a prevent defense.

      • Dave Baron

Wait…. Im confused…. is the tree going to be planted for Glennon???? Cause watching last night It looked like we ALREADY had a tree planted behind the oline wearing a number 8 jersey that kept dropping fruit that kinda looked like footballs!?!?!

        What a POS

  • Scharfinator

In regards to Jeff’s twitter, were people really defending Glennon?

It certainly seemed odd at the time, though some of us didn’t imagine quite this level of train wreck.

    • ButtonShoes

During yesterday’s game? Nope. But over the past few months? You bet.

    • BearDown100393

He was dubious to lukewarm upon the signing and hated Giraffe in camp. IMO that was a bit premature.

Jeff was right. I was wrong.

    • Bender McLugh

most of the defense was just play Glennon before passing judgement on good or bad, which has come and gone and obviously QB needs to change.

  • BearDown100393

Ryan Pace is the Mike Glennon for NFL General Managers.

    • Bears-4-Ever

      +1

    • King of DBB

      I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO

      • BearDown100393

        Congratulations

      • Bender McLugh

        okay, Jeff.

    • Scharfinator

Jury is out for me. Howard, Cohen, Whitehair, Grasu all seem like they’re solid starters at least. Floyd miiiight be someone.

I fully expect Glennon to ride the bench from here on out. If not, then I’m going to start leaning on the Pacetard wagon myself.

      • SC Dave

Is benching the QB a proper decision for a GM to make?

    • SC Dave

I disagree. This team is FAR better than the shit he inherited, and will be fine *assuming* Trubisky works out, which we are all hopeful of, obviously.

      • BearDown100393

What part of last night was far better?

  • BearDown100393

“Imagine if the Bears didn’t draft a QB. Folks would be calling for Pace’s head over Glennon. And they’d be right.”

I no longer assume Mitch Trubisky is anything but a rookie JAG QB. Ryan Pace no longer warrants any benefit of the doubt. Mind you a rookie JAG QB is still infinitely better than Giraffe, but I refuse to presume this kid was worth trading up for as the 2nd pick in the draft. After last night, the Bears no longer earn any fan faith of a team performance turnaround.

This rebuild to date is a complete failure.

    • Agree to disagree. Despite 4 bad (or worse) games from their QB, they’ve competed with 2 playoff teams and beaten one of them.

This roster is good enough to hang in there with the big boys as long as their QB doesn’t throw the game away. Even when the QB plays like shit (which he has in all 4 games), they still stay in the game thanks to D/running as long as he isn’t turning it over 3x in the 1st half.

      • BearDown100393

Tampa Bay and Green Bay put their backup quarterbacks in and iced their starters during garbage time.

That is not competing in my books.

        • no it’s not. The QB threw those games away in the 1st half. That’s not a terrible roster though, it’s a terrible QB. There’s a difference.

          • BearDown100393

Terrible receivers. Zack Miller gets a pass. The running backs also are excused.

      • underway

When did simply competing become enough? We compete all 16 games and go 0-16. That’s ok? We need to win. Period. We legit could be 3-1 with competent QBing. We are the goddamn CHICAGO BEARS, not the fuckin Jax Jaguars…. this mediocre mindset is killing us. Fox is 10-29 or some rediculous shit how is that acceptable?

        • Bender McLugh

it isn’t and no one is saying it is.

        • I agree, playing the shit QB is dumb. I’m just saying that, based on what we’ve seen so far this year, this isn’t a terrible roster. It’s a solid roster with a terrible QB.

      • Irish Sweetness

Ah Woodsy, the roster is dogshit. This is the Bears. There are supposed to be three linebackers worth talking about and a pair of safeties. Win or lose we’re supposed to beat people up. We just beat ourselves.

At least Danny had some balls. Haven’t seen them since Urlacher.

  • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

It’s time for a change. No one can deny it on this blog or at Halas Hall or within the ownership ranks. The Bears will become a farce if this continues even 1 more week.

    • BearDown100393

      Start at ownership

    • CanadaBear

There’s no way Glennon starts against the Queens. It’s either Sanchez or MT.

  • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

Last night Deion Sanders stated that if you play Trubisky you are giving up on the season. I couldn’t disagree more. Keeping Mike Glennon in these games is lunacy.
Fox will mentally lose members of this team if they continue to trot out Glennon at practice or in games.

    • BearDown100393

Fox already has lost his players judging by some of their post game comments.

    • Bears-4-Ever

Yeah Heard Deion Sanders say that and split out my beverage. What a Douche.

      • BearDown100393

        Cowher was even worse

        • Bender McLugh

and what about Romo passing excuse after excuse for Glennon as he kept turning the ball over, including the kick after the silent snap snafu? Ridiculous

          • BearDown100393

Trying to keep those Chicago ratings alive for CBS.

    • Sahr Gborie

Deion is an ass talking out his mouth

    • CanadaBear

It’s not like any team is knocking down Deion’s door to coach or GM. How many times did the talking heads make excuses for Glennon? About 100? For whatever reason everyone was trying to prop up Glennon when it was obvious there’s nothing to prop up.

    • SC Dave

Based on that tweet of Hicks’, it has started already.

  • Bears-4-Ever

Last night was an absolute disgrace. “Since the Bears Don’t Care About Winning”. Agreed, except for the Players. I do believe the Players want to win, but the Upper ranks of the Organization really could give a shit. They “say” they do, but lets be honest, this middle of the road crap came to a head last night. Total embarrassment of what should be a proud and dominate organization which is really just a laughing stock of the league it helped create. Why the fuck didn’t you put the kid in for the 4th quarter? At least give him some reps in a real game that was obviously a lost cause by that time. It truly boggles the mind. I mean we all knew Glennon is bad and overpaid. But last night it was like watching a comedy show. I think even Rogers could hold back the laughter at one point.

PLEASE, someone who has the money and who care about Chicago, who cares about Football and mostly who care about WINNING. BUY THE BEARS, FIRE FOX, PLAY THE KID.

    • BearDown100393

      This is Ryan Pace’s show.

      • Bears-4-Ever

OK,,,BUY THE BEARS, FIRE PACE, FIRE FOX, PLAY THE KID.

        • BearDown100393

Cannot buy what is not for sale.

          • Bears-4-Ever

Yeah I know. Just wishing “Someday” it will happen. Just not this year…

          • BearDown100393

Understandable. All too reminiscent of the Dollar Bill’s twilight.

  • TBC

What’s the matter, Jeff? Never seen a Bears QB shit the bed at Lambeau?

  • King of DBB

“Oh nooooooo GP, I totally don’t buy your stupid conspiracy theories that Pace got Trub as a lure and he wouldn’t play him NO MATTER WHAT.

That is just stupid GP and cynical and I bet Trub gets a shot. Pace wouldn’t just trade a whole draft to pick up a guy to buy himself more years as GM that is crazy Irish tinfoil talk.”

There is a reason I am King.

    • Johnnywad

And I assume you’ll come back and eat your crow when the kid does play, and is good.

      • King of DBB

        Sure.

Hey, everyone says the kid is going to play against the Vikes right?

We will see. We will fucking see Jonnywad

        • Johnnywad

No. Everyone says it might be an ideal spot. Nobody knows.

I think the kid can play. And if he can play, you’re wrong.

          • King of DBB

            Reading comprehension. Try it out.

It has nothing to do with the kid and his ability. He will play but not until next year.

          • Johnnywad

            Ok asshole.

          • King of DBB

            Now bow down.

          • Johnnywad

And further, continuing to play Mike Glennon is FAR more detrimental to Pace’s career than suffering through MT’s growing pains.

          • Sahr Gborie

Such a simple concept to understand yet people act like it quantum mechanics. Why would you hitch your wagon of success to the past (Glennon) when the future (MT) is waiting even if the ride will be bumpy for a while?

    • CanadaBear

Patting yourself on the back for a BS theory is really weak.

      • King of DBB

It’s the american way. You Canadians just don’t understand.

        • CanadaBear

          It’s a bad look.

          • King of DBB

            Very non-Canadian.

When they roll out Glennon for MNF maybe then you’ll show some outrage.

          • CanadaBear

And if they don’t will you drop your BS theory?

          • King of DBB

            I already said I would.

It would also mean that Pace got a “talking to”.

I don’t think George has the stones to give Ryan a “talking to”, so it’s gonna be Ryan’s call and the Pacebot is going to stick to his plan and he’s going to have the NFL analysts back his ass up just like Deion did last night.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Who the fuck said that?

  • Scharfinator

My thoughts on the Trevathan hit, for what they’re worth.

Dirty? I don’t know, I lean towards yes.

    Careless and dangerous? Yes.

Intent? I don’t think so – he’s visibly upset as soon as he realizes how badly he laid the guy out. His facial expression when he’s walking around without his helmet does not scream “I got his ass”.

Fine incoming and if he gets suspended, I’ll understand. I do not, however, think the intent was to ruin a guy.

    • Bender McLugh

I’d need to hear the audio of Trevathan after he lays him out

      • Scharfinator

        That would offer some clarity

  • leftcoastdave

The very first play set the tone. Glennon was looking at Miller open in the left flat but instead waited, hoping to find a deep target which was not to be. Bam, the game starts down the dark tunnel. Silent count off the knee, two ints.

Ok, now the players want Mitchell and it will happen as many predicted after the mini-bye of the Thursday night game. The O line is fine, the team will be fine, Gentry may be back for the deep threat, Mitchell will buy more time for the receivers to get open, 9-7 will happen.

    • Bender McLugh

You really think they’ll put MT in? I sincerely hope so but how can anyone say for certain with this team?

      • leftcoastdave

Pace and Fox have clearly had a plan. It was to develop an offense with the tools they have, acquiring the best tools available starting with the basics. Both Cowher and Romo commented upon the build, esp. Cowher commenting upon the foundation. They developed an O scheme with the best of what they have and lost the two best receivers to injury. Now Glennon had his shot and I will bet that they move on to the kid now that there is tape in the can for the kid to watch with the offensive scheme which was developed.

Just my opinion, but now TK can watch what went wrong where and what went right without getting his legs broken learning. The O line is back to form and now it is time to roll out the kid for prime time television.

        • Bender McLugh

we shall see, hope so but…well ya know

  • Sahr Gborie

Reasons to get rid of Fox&Pace

#1. Continuing to play Glennon when he has shown time and again that he is
not capable of leading this team as a “starting QB”. Pace is the one
who evaluates talent and Fox is supposed to get the best out of said
    talent

#2 Continuing to sit MT on the bench while Glennons cost’s the team winnable games

    • Scharfinator

How do you know MT would win those games?

      • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

        come on man

        • Scharfinator

Glennon is trash and NOT the answer.

We just don’t know if MT *is* the answer.

          • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

excuse me while i stab myself in the neck with this pen.

          • Sahr Gborie

MT has to be better than Glennon by default due to how bad Glennon is. Its possible MT loses those games. I find it difficult to believe that MT would be worse than Glennon even with rookie mistakes

          • Scharfinator

That’s not what I said – I agree that MT would be better.

          • Sahr Gborie

MT is the answer “right now” because Glennon is so bad. He may not be the long term answer but for rest of the season he is the answer

      • Irish Sweetness

We’d see good football, for one. We’d be in it.

        • Scharfinator

You don’t know that at all. I sure hope you’re right, but you’re just postulating.

    • Sactowns#1

#3 drafting a subpar QB when you could have drafted a champ.

      • Sahr Gborie

We dont know that Watson/Kaizer/Mahomes will be champs. The sample size for all 4 QB’s is too small to pass jusdgment

    • Cubsnlinux

No and No. I don’t think Fox has a prayer in starting MT. It is Pace’s call.

      • Irish Sweetness

        Agreed.

  • Sactowns#1

If Trubisky truly isn’t ready to play then Pace obviously made a bad pick in the draft. There’s a rookie playing right now who looks solid, who looks ready for the NFL. If you picked a guy who can’t do the same then fucked up and you need to admit it.

    • BearDown100393

Why would anyone honestly believe the Bears have the right coaching staff and personnel to develop Mitch Trubisky?

      • Sahr Gborie

This is the reason Fox will be let go/retire at the end of the season. He and his staff are not the team to bring the best out of MT. If MT is the talent we all believe him to be do you really and truly believe that this coaching staff is capable of bringing the best out of him?

        • Sactowns#1

So now it’s the coaches fault that they drafted the wrong QB? Here’s an idea, maybe talk to your coaching safe prior to the draft.

          • Sahr Gborie

The job of the GM is to provide the coach talent. The job of the coach is to bring the best out of the talent provided to him. He was provided Glennon, Sanchez & MT.

          • Cubsnlinux

Pump the brakes..Wrong QB? Why is MT the wrong QB?

    • Cubsnlinux

Because Pace must feel that MT has the highest ceiling and floors than the other possibilities, plain and simple. He didn’t make that pick to improve the chances for 2017. Jeff keeps saying that Bears are “..throwing the season away” but in reality Bears have no chance to go anywhere other than miraculously saving Fox’s job by winning 7-8 games this year. Most all including the media fell for it when the beloved pulled out a win against the steelers but this team is still so bad that everything has to go just perfect like when Steelers dropped an easy interception in Q4, for them to even come close to winning.

      • Sahr Gborie

How perfect does this team need to be if Glennon is not the man under center?

      • Sactowns#1

So we should all trust the QB evaluation skills of the guy who signed mike Glennon as the starting QB?

        • Sahr Gborie

Exactly what I have been saying…Pace’s evaluations skills needs to be questioned seriously

          • Irish Sweetness

He has been weighed and measured. Three years. This is not – and nowhere close – to being a SB roster.

        • Cubsnlinux

I am not saying anything about what we should do but instead gave a reasonable explanation behind picking Trubisky. Now you can’t be absolutely positive either way until we see him play in NFL games.

Now I think it is reasonable to be skeptic about Pace’s evaluation skills given everything we have seen so far. I have no clue what he saw in Mike freaking Glennon. $18M down the drain, it’s not my money but if I am the owner I will be pissed. I not only lost a chunk of money but more importantly that move made my charter franchise the laughing stock just when I thought we closed the lid on that circus.

          • Irish Sweetness

So between then and now he’ll lose the ability to place the ball perfectly, and on the move?

        • Irish Sweetness

          This squared.

      • Bender McLugh

I would argue that the team isn’t what is still so bad but the QB definitely is.

        • Cubsnlinux

Oh, I agree with all that. All I am saying is it will not be all playoffs and Super Bowl without MG. Does MG have a negative impact on a number of things? Absolutely.

  • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

was anyone else a little baffled at the made up penalty against Trevathan last night?

    • BearDown100393

      No

      • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

but is it against the law though?

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH6QJzmLYtw

        • Scharfinator

What a great show. So many good skits

        • Irish Sweetness

Go tell Jim McMahon’s career it’s against the law. At least that was a hit on Adams, McMahon was PICKED UP after the play was dead and SLAMMED to the ground, a brutal, pre-meditated and ADVERTISED assault.

    • Sactowns#1

Yup. I sent an all caps text to the text thread of Bears buddies when they made that call. Hitting the runner in the helmet? That’s a new one. Idiots.

    • King of DBB

I thought that after Adams was KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT, that Trevathan should have teabagged him, like in first person shooters. Just a quick squat over him, sends a nice message.

      • Irish Sweetness

        Right on the fuckin kisser.

  • Dave Baron

Not sure how Fox keeps his job after how he has dealt with Glennon and the lack of discipline to the team. 4 weeks of numerous bone headed plays and penalties that all fall at Fox’s feet ultimately not to mention his terrible management of game throughout his tenure with the Bears. This is a good football team with exception of three areas…. QB, coach and WR and a good QB can fix the lack of WR…. just look at the slop Rodgers has made look like all pro. Nelson is WR2 on most other teams….. Adams/Cobb…. WR3.

    • Krush12684

Nelson might not be as fast as before the injury, but dude is a WR2 on like…..8 teams max! You must have no idea what experience does for a WR. Look at Fitz.

      • Scharfinator

        Is this a new TBC?

      • Dave Baron

How did Walker do without Brady?

      • Dave Baron

        Cobb on the Giants?

    • Cubsnlinux

I am not sure if the whole QB situation is on Fox. In fact I am reasonably positive that Pace holds all the reigns there and Fox is simply parroting the company lines.

Now there are plenty of other reasons to fire Fox NOW easily.

    • Sahr Gborie

This is a good football team with….preach my brother preach…Rodgers is a great QB with average to slightly above average WR’s. Yet he makes chicken salad out of chicken shiiiiiiiiit

      • Dave Baron

Man…. can you imagine GB with Glennon as a QB??? Beyond arguably one of the greatest QBs to play…. is there anyone else on that roster? They are average at best…. he makes them good. One year they had a solid D they won the SB.

    • Irish Sweetness

??? We have a great QB. He’s not starting, but he’s on the team. And you’re happy with our safeties? And linebackers? And D-ends?

      Why?

      • Dave Baron

If healthy yes, Freeman is a great linebacker, Kwiatkoski is young but I think has promise to be solid. Really happy with Eddie Jackson where he was drafted and I think he will develop into a solid player. Hicks and Goldman are good along the line so yea, I like the D. Doesn’t mean we can’t improve but I’d take our healthy starting 11 over probably half the league if not more than. I am optimistic about MT but Im not going to go so far as to call him great as you have…. I will say watching the preseason that he has some great accuracy and physical tools, if he can be competent with the mental aspects of the game then we have a QB for years to come IMO

        • Irish Sweetness

Take ‘promise’ down to your local bank and buy me a diamond.

And kids don’t flash skill. Mitch flashed greatness. You don’t fluke that. It’s never there if you don’t have it.

          • Dave Baron

So you are willing to knock some solid actual game play by Jackson, Kwiatkoski, etc but promote some preseason passes against some 2nd/3rd string guys that were playing in some base D? Not sure that qualifies him as great…. just means he has promise too. He may have great attributes like mobility and accuracy but he needs to prove he can play in real games.

          • Dave Baron

Trust me, I’m not down on MT at all….. but I’m just not sure how a few preseason passes makes him great while you ignore players with actual game experience that are showing some promise

          • SC Dave

            Exactly.

DT came in full speed, OLmen are pushing the pile so it’s a moving target, at the last second both guys duck their heads. Did he lead with the crown of his helmet? Fuck yeah. Was he trying to earhole him? Doubt it.

      • Krush12684

There is no other place to even hit him. What was his helmet aiming for then?

        • CanadaBear

          Ask DT.

    • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

Dude, spare me. These guys play at a speed that you only get off to. Don’t sit there and preach lest I show you a highlight film about 20hrs long of 70yrs of football footage.

Fucking stop, you sound like a fucking millennial.

      • Sahr Gborie

Thank you. This is the reality of the game. Was the hit brutal hell yeah it was. But nothing in DT’s profile says hes a dirty play who is out to hurt others.

        • Krush12684

Brutal hits happen, these don’t need to.

          • Krush12684

I’d say the same thing if a player dives at a QB’s knees. I hope that is considered dirty AF too….not just a burtal hit.

          • Irish Sweetness

Have you ever seen football? As in real football … from before the nineties?

However none of us know what DT’s intent was. We can only pass judgment based on the film and who we know DT to be as a person.

        • Cubsnlinux

  • willbest

If the hit by DT is indeed dirty, the NFL needs to fire every ref working the game last night. All of them. It was inexcusable they didn’t blow the whistle. We all know he was going to get the forward progress anyway.

Oh and the NFL needs to make it a 10 yard penalty on the offense to push the pile.

    • Krush12684

They just need a rule where the Ref can review any play they think might be dirty…there are always going to be times they don’t see something.

      • willbest

Nope. Sorry. That wasn’t dirty. That was football. If you don’t want it in the game, then you need to ensure it doesn’t happen. And the easiest way to do that is to penalize the offense 10 yards everytime they stick their hands on their own player to push him forward.

        • Krush12684

That happens in any type of play. Has nothing to do with pushing a pile. Brandon Meriweather would lead with his head on any type of play.

          • willbest

2 Packer players were injured yesterday because the refs refused to blow a play dead when forward progress stopped.

          • Krush12684

The injuries aren’t bad. The helmet to helmet blow to a defenseless dudes brain was.

    • Completely agree about the O pushing the pile in a scrum.

Funny. We were just talking about this before the game.

Should be a penalty like it used to be or else defenders are gonna come flying in trying to make plays, and shit like this will continue to happen.

      But hey, ratings, right?

  • CanadaBear

Jeff twatted the Bears are still a tremendous national draw. Really? If they were so great a draw why are they on national TV about 3 times this year instead of much more? The answer. Because they aren’t. The Bears are a good draw when they are a good team. Right now, not so much.

    • willbest

National audiences like to see good games. Period. Teams more likely to create good games generate more interest. Teams that keep it competitive the entire time are a ratings boom, and an advertisers wet dream.

      • CanadaBear

And the current Bears do none of that.

    • Krush12684

I always thought of the bears as a team with many transplant fans, no?

      • Krush12684

No matter where you are you see Bears stickers over all but prob cowboy/steeles/packers

        • CanadaBear

Fair weather fans that only tune in when they are winning. Recently that’s not a lot of tuning in.

    • BearDown100393

The Washington Generals are a good draw as well.

      • CanadaBear

I think it’s the opponent that draws the crowd!!!!!!!!

        • BearDown100393

          The Generals disagree…..

  • Hey look, one of the trolls from my old site showed up.

Best way to make them go away is ignore them.

And FWIW, the Trevathan hit was a cheap shot that shouldn’t have happened.

    • Krush12684

Thanks! We don’t have enough bears fans anymore…

    • CanadaBear

I don’t think he earholed him intentionally. He led with the crown for sure but at that speed and a moving target … I’m sure he will get fined. Hopefully not suspended.

      • Dave Baron

agreed….. head was down but I don’t think at that speed with him already headed to the ground that it was the intent to go at his head.

        • Bender McLugh

He wasn’t heading to the ground, he was still trying to move forward, perfect time to try and dislodge the ball with a helmet. Gotta fix that aim, Tre

          • DBears

            https://twitter.com/NickVeronica/status/913606481924231168

Nevermind the comment from D(n)ICKVeronica….. but if you watch his helmet and pads, he (adams) dips a fair amount just before the collision. Not saying it was a legal hit but certainly don’t think its fair to Travathan to say he was head hunting either. What bothers me more are these people like Dick that can’t objectively watch that clip and at least give a player the benefit of the doubt!!! Tre wasn’t going high at all with his position…. he did launch and lead with the helmet in all fairness but lets not make it more than that.

      • I don’t think he intended head to head, but he went full speed and head-first into a player who was wrapped up and pretty defenseless. There’s no place for that.

        • Bender McLugh

if he had hit the ball instead of his head it’s a different conversation. We want turnovers, that’s one way to cause a turnover

          • Exactly.

We bitch when Shea gets dragged by a RB for 5 yds
Now we bitch cuz a real LB goes flying in trying to make a play his team desperately needs.

If this was McPhee or Swole I might think twice, but to me, Tre just flew in trying to finish.

The target dropped, his crown dropped.

            That’s it.

Anyone who thinks it was a cheap shot, listen to his post-game interview in the locker room.

          • CanadaBear

As soon as he realized he KO’d Adams you could tell he was concerned. Not that it helped Adams but at least he wasn’t strutting around all jacked up.

  • Malice Halice

Seriously, lay off Danny. He’s a savage LB n shit happens. All he was doin was assisting the tackle and by the time he made contact it was nothin but helmet. It’s sucks yea and when u watch it a few dozen times OFCOURSE it’s gonna look intentional. But I rather Danny destroy someone else than him tweekin something on dat slippery grass and sittin on IR. Remember those r da SAME GUYS that broke Hoyers arm right? Fuck those guys. I don’t wish no harm on anybody but they all signed up for dis shit.

    • CanadaBear

Gotta admit watching it live at full speed I loved it. DT came flying in and that pushing the pile shit stopped immediately. When I saw the guy’s mouthguard go flying I thought, uh-oh he must have hit him in the head.

    • Krush12684

Remember those r da SAME GUYS that broke Hoyers arm right?

Too bad they don’t care about winning.

    • DaBearsBlog

      • BearDown100393

Defending the ownership is even dumber

  • CanadaBear

With a nod to Talking Heads, last night’s game was “same as it ever was”. The Beloved shit the bed in glorious fashion last night and it started with the coaching, with a huge helping of Glennon, both lines underachieving, the DB’s looking like Keystone cops, the worst WR’s in the league living down to their rep and then the piece de resistance, the refs trying to help them out at every turn.

Other than the roughing the punter (which they totally blew), whenever the fudge needed a call, there it was. I get that shitty teams aren’t getting the calls and the Beloved earned a few of them but FFS, whenever one of their WR’s would beg for a flag, it would arrive right on cue. Way late, but right on cue. Not that any of the refs incompetence made a bit of difference in the outcome but at some point it really does wear ya down as a fan. That spot that was challenged was just the tip of the iceberg. Some of this is just sour grapes but not all of it.

    • willbest

The tackling our player before he even touched the ball. The OPI while their player was jumping out of bounds and couldn’t have made the catch anyway. The clear as day intentional grounding flag that got picked up because “Sorry, Mr. Rodgers, I didn’t realize it was you”

I am shocked we didn’t lose that punt.

      • CanadaBear

I try not to be a sore loser and spew a bunch of sour grapes but last night was just a fucker. You could tell Romo was trying his best not to say anything but he noticed it. That grounding flag pickup got a good line out of Romo; in the area = Green Bay or something like that. As far as missing the punt call, I think that should be reviewable and changed if incorrect. That’s one of those that’s pretty easy to get correct with replay. Not that I was feeling bad for the fudge at that point.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Nance or Romo said the punt is a reviewable play, however GB did not have any Timeouts left.

    • “Same as it ever was” is the official Blog Song.

Rumor going around that Mitch will start against the Vikes.

    • SC Dave

      Let’s hope so

    • willbest

      Three possibilities
      1) Beer sales actually matter to the McCaskeys, despite the belief around these parts that the TV contract is controlling
      2) ESPN demanded that Trubisky play so they didn’t have to film an empty stadium and suffer a massive ratings hit and advertiser outrage.
      3) Kia, Budweiser, etc. directly put the screws to Halas Hall

    • AlbertInTucson

Fox intimated as much in the post game excerpts I saw on NFL Net last night. Anaylsts, David Carr, Willie McGinest and DeMarcus Ware all jumped on it and said the change is imminent.

      • CanadaBear

I don’t understand why everything is a conspiracy of some sort or other. I actually find it pretty easy to believe Pace guaranteed MG would start out #1 on the depth chart and would be given every opportunity to prove himself. Miraculously the Beloved beat the Steelers and it made sense not to switch QB’s on a short week. The 11-day window had to be a target to switch if the worst scenario has taken place (it has). If MT starts against the Queens, I think a conservative coach like Fox acted exactly as you would expect. If MT doesn’t start against the Queens … Fuck, I don’t even want to consider it!

        • Johnnywad

Kinda where I’m at too. If they were sitting 2-2 with a win over the Falcons and still in touch with the rest of the division, I could see at least a little wiggle room for Fox to stay the course. But 1-3 and looking over that debacle last night, with another divisional game up next, now seems like a great time to make the change.

        • SC Dave

A backpacking buddy of mine has an expression, perhaps germane to all this:

“Don’t attribute to ill-intent that which can be easily explained by stupidity”

An Occam’s Razor sort of thing.

          • Sahr Gborie

No Bears fans wants to acknowledge that the decision makers are stupid. That would destroy the fan base. We need hope right now. Normally we would get it from the players. We have not QB to hang our hopes on so we cling to management.

Will believe it when it is officially announced.

What was the reason for letting Alshon Jefferys go?

    • willbest

He didn’t want to be a Bear.

      • Sahr Gborie

He was being emo because his buddy Marshall was gone.

        • SC Dave

All you geniuses that know what is in someones mind…

          • willbest

Well if he wanted to be a Bear he would have taken the 12+ mil a year and 20+ mil guarantee he was being offered over a 1 year 10 mil + incentives that he took.

          • SC Dave

            smh.

          • Sahr Gborie

He said he felt some type of way about Marshall being gone. Remember Marshall took him under his wing to train him his 2nd year

    • Johnnywad

      It’s Jeffries’s

      • SC Dave

        lol. Jeffery

        • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

          David……..

          • SC Dave

Couldn’t help it. Just had to.

    • willbest

Look if Alshon, had demonstrated a level of durability that indicated he would be playing all 48 games you are giving him guarantees for then yes the Bears should have just sucked it up and given him the AJ Green/ Julio money of ~14.5-15 million a year. Why? Because he was one of our own guys and when you are a shitty team you have to overpay.

But Alshon couldn’t stay on the field, so they offered him a fair deal in the 12-12.5 mil per year range which is what he was getting from other teams. He thought he could do better going year to year and proving his durability. Maybe it will work for him, though it doesn’t look promising for him after 3 games.

      • Sahr Gborie

        Faaak Alshon

  • Sheesh, this blog is reading like a Score script, which would be akin to reading the Script for Duece Bigalow Male Gigalo

    Take a step back.

    1. Non-delustional Bears fans expected us to start 1-3. The more optimistic felt 2-2 was possible, but not many. The more cynical predicted 0-4.

    2. No one knows if starting the kid right away would’ve resulted in wins. NO ONE. And there’s no point in “competitive losses”. This aint figure skating. No style points.

    3. No one knows if starting the kid right away would’ve helped his development in the long term. The two greatest QBs this past decade took totally diff routes. 1 started right away (Brady), 1 sat for a few season (Vadgers).

All we know is, Fox/Birdcage felt that for Trub, specifically, sitting would be better for him in the long run.

    4. Trub starting vs Vikes might have been the plan all along, in which case, going 1-3 was a small price to pay in their eyes to lay a foundation for the franchise QB

    5. Fox will be gone, and likely Birdcage and Fangio with him. I loathed the Fox hire from the start, but as in life, when you’re a loser, beggars can’t be choosers.

Either way, all are likely gone; HOWEVER, b4 that happens, I wanna see either Fangio/Birdcage take over as interim to go along with Trub starting.

    Cut Glennon. Promote Sanchize.

    Let the future begin.

    • willbest

Tom Brady sat for 1 year and would have sat a second year, but Bledsoe got hurt in the second game. Brady got in and Hoodie never looked back.

      • Did he sit the first yr? I thought that was his rook yr when Bledsoe got hurt.
Regardless, plenty of other examples of good QBs starting right away, and plenty of evidence of good QBs sitting to the point where no definitive ‘template’

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Roethlisberger would be a better example

          • And Wilson.

But it’s still hard to ignore that the best QB in the league sat.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

But the best regular season QB in history Pizza Manning started right away.

      • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

he was a 6th rd pick, of course he sat

        • willbest

Obviously he shouldn’t have been handed the keys to the kingdom. Jerra didn’t want to give Dak the nod either.

          • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

and why would he, he had Romo

          • Sahr Gborie

just goes to show how much these so called experts know. let the kid play and learn. MT needs real action not the blow up dolls of the practice squad.

      • BearDown100393

And that was 20 years ago.

    • willbest

      Just to further it

QBs in the Canton conversation that started right away: Roth, Peyton, Wilson (yes its a bit early, but his resume is pointing that way)
QBs that sat: Brees (behind Flutie), Brady, Rodgers (Favre).

Eli – sort of sat. He started the second half of the season, Kurt Warner was the other QB.

      • BearDown100393

All those starters ahead were infinitely better than Giraffe.

    • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

if you look at more than Rodgers and Brady, two HOF’ers, the general trend is that top QB picks play early.

      • You can also argue that top QB busts played too early, while QBs like Vadgers and Brees swear that sitting greatly benefited them. And round and round we go.

The argument is sorta like with aliens. Evidence for/against and no definitive evidence.

Trub will start not out of philosophy, but necessity.

Obviously Pace came from the Brees sit em school, but Glennon sucked so much, he’s forced their hands.

        • Cubsnlinux

With Rodgers let’s not pretend that he had any choice other than to sit. He was behind Brett freakin Favre.

          • they DID have a choice.

The packers, which know a lil something about developing QBs, decided to draft a QB in the 1st even with a HOFer starting because they thought that sitting him would pay off down the road.

            They were right.

But just because that worked for Rodgers and the Puke doesn’t mean it’s the ONLY way to develop a good QB.

          • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

Butch, they also drafted him as a power play because Favre had started with all that retirement talk back in 2004

          • Yeah, but if I recall, they didn’t really believe Favre was retiring that year.
Vadgers was a future investment, and maybe emergency contingency plan, but really more of a future investment.

At that point I think it was like Roth bringing up retirement every preseason.

Steelers don’t really believe it (for now)

          • Cubsnlinux

And that was the right line of thinking..to draft your future QB before the close ckmruns out on your HOF QB. MT and Da Bears do not have that luxury. The only way MT will learn is through actual NFL game reps. Anything he was going to learn by sitting behind Glennon and throwing to our scrubs he would have learned by now and that is not really much. Now Bears need to know if MT is for real or a bust sooner than later. The sooner we start that assessment the less number of years go down the drain.

I am actually not sure if we are agreeing or disagreeing here 🙂

        • Sahr Gborie

The argument could me made that sitting helps. No doubt about it. Hone your craft. But you can also learn from experience. It depends on the person and whats between the ears…how they process things

        • SC Dave

They cannot possibly have imagined that Glennon would be this bad.

          • willbest

If they thought Glennon would be this bad, then they planned on tanking.

          • SC Dave

That would be the only explanation, in which case he’ll start the rest of the year. But I don’t see that as a rational or reasonable scenario.

          • Sahr Gborie

No way Glennon starts for the rest of the year. They have to tank the plan they had at the start of the season. You cant do this to Virginia M. Maybe Ted Phillips does not mind the losses but that old lady does.

          • Sahr Gborie

Thats the most likely scenario. They never expected this. The question now is what to think of Pace (no Fox because he is a dead man walking) and his talent evaluation skills since he thought Glennon was good enough to lead this team.

          • SC Dave

Well, it was definitely a crap shoot. Not sure where the opinions on him originated – maybe some people will disappear from the personnel side of the business.

          • Sahr Gborie

I put it all on Pace because he has final say on talent acquisition

          • SC Dave

That’s dumb. The reason you hire staff is to rely on their input and judgment.

          • Sahr Gborie

Even if staff tells you to draft/not draft a player the final say is with the decision maker. Cant hold the body responsible for what the head does

          • SC Dave

You said “all on Pace”. That’s dumb. They failed as a team.

          • No, Pace did not know Glennon would be this bad. No way. If he had, he’d have re-signed Hoyer or even went with a guy like Sanchize (barring the “smokescreen theory)

I said from the start that I would’ve resigned Hoyer for way cheaper, but that even though I didn’t agree with Pace’s decion to let him walk, I at least understood the reasoning behind signing him.

            He doubled down on QB.

His first gamble was a complete loss.

All we can hope is that his 2nd gamble is not.

            This is not rocket science.

Pace drafted Langford who busted, but that didn’t mean Pace was then somehow incapable of finding an excellent HB.

Howard and Cohen aren’t shabby, I would say.

So this whole “he fucked up once, he can’t ever find a good player ever again” logic is just debbit downerism.

          • Sahr Gborie

Glennon’s signing is gives credence to the smokescreen theory for MT.

If there is no smokescreen then why not sign Da Destroya to a decent deal or even Barkley? Maybe Barkley would have been a better cover?

Pace seems to learn from his mistakes. Langford was replaced by Howard. Hopefully Shaheen replaces M.Bennette and ultimately MT replaces Cutty/Griaffe Neck

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Others did. Some of us were down on the signing from the beginning.

        • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

top talent Qb in college don’t always equate to success in the NFL. Everyone points to Carr but if you look at his numbers he got better every single year, he was just not as good as people thought he was going to be.
Tee Martin was a bad motherfucker in college. I had my orange Tennessee hat just like everyone else.

      • Johnnywad

Does game five count as early?

    • willbest

I expected them to go 2-6 before the by and about 4-4 to 6-2 after the bye. So they are still on Pace for what I thought might have been. I just didn’t expect to find themselves so predictable on offense. And that is really the most brutal of it.

      • Sahr Gborie

        Predictability = Glennon Effect

    • Big Mike

I’m just going to pour gas on the fire. Bears would be 3-1 with Cutler.

      • MIA has a way better O than ours, and most likely a better OC/HC, and they’re 1-1 with Cutler.

What makes you think Cutler would do better on a shittier team vs harder competition?

We already saw the result of Cutler throwing to 3rd string midgets.

        • Sahr Gborie

Cutty has pocket awareness and can throw more than 10 yards

        • Big Mike

Let’s replay the two winnable games with Cutler. Does he throw a better ball to Howard? Does he extend a few plays with his feet? Can he lead a two minute drive as well as Glennon did? I think yes to all of those.

Last night, does Cutler freeze in the pocket on the first offensive play? Does he hit wide open Marcus Wheaton up the seam instead of throwing into double coverage? Does he extend 1 or 2 series with his legs. Doe he avoid confusion with his Center by fucking up the snap count? Does doing any of this, fire up the defense?

Easily a 20+ point swing right there. Just my opinion. Average Cutler beats Atl and GB. They had 10 men in the box at the snap on a 1/2 dozen plays. WTF.

          • willbest

Only a half dozen? Why would you play the Bears any differently?

          • Cutler couldn’t beat them with Forte, Bennett, Alshon, Bmarsh and Royal.

But yeah, he’ll beat them with Wright and Thompson?

Check out Cutler vs Jets last week.

          • Big Mike

I’ve seen it. You don’t think he makes 5 or 6 plays that Glennon messed up? I do. I think those 5 or 6 plays take points off the board for them, I think 24 would have beat them.

          • Whch Cutler are we talking about?

The Cutler who threw 4 INTs to Hall, or the one against the Vikes?

Cutler’s record vs Puke is not exactly inspiring.

          • willbest

You have to go back to the 80’s early 90’s to find a Bear with an inspiring record against the packers.

          • Big Mike

Ok, I’m not reliving this debate

          • Johnnywad

            LOL! Look what you did.

      • Sahr Gborie

Ive got a diesel tanker if you need it

    • BearDown100393

Starting Mitch Trubisky is not about wins. It is about snaps in real NFL action. Development. Growing pains with Mitch far outweigh watching Giraffe bang his head on a low talent ceiling.

      • Yes, and can you prove that Mitch didn’t develop as much sitting 4 games?

Lots of good QBs sat (many for more than 4 games), so it’s not as if Trub gonna bust and Jeff will scream, “See. If he only started those first four games, he wouldn’t have busted!”

        • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

sometimes it feels like people have a financial interest in seeing Mike Glennon stay the starting QB. There can be no other explanation for people praising an 84yd outing, defending 2 fumbles and 2 picks, the lowest yds per pass in the league, etc.
It’s just weird. I mean, even guys on here will defend this guy to the death it seems like.

          • I never wanted Glennon, so I have no dog in that fight.

And I was one of the few who liked Trub from the start while apparently the rest of chicago was booing him at Bull’s game.

But I didn’t think it crazy to give Glennon the first 4 games to prove if he indeed sucks.

He has proven he indeed sucks.

            Put in the Trub.

No reason to sit him anymore.

        • BearDown100393

None sat behind the worst starting quarterback in the NFL this long.

  • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

You play the talented players early, especially when the alternative is a backup caliber quarterback. You can keep the O conservative but with Trubinowski at least you get the other teams fucking attention and they can’t crash down on every play Nintendo style.

  • Don’t Caaaaaaare!

Adam Schefter reporting that Bears Quarterback Mike Glennon was just assassinated in broad daylight by a shaggy haired white male wearing an old faded Les Mis t-shirt screaming something about productive futility.

  • willbest

“It’s almost like they didn’t think Glennon could beat them.” – Jeff

Yes Romo commented on this basically every time the Bears O was on the field. You almost never see the Packers run base 3-4, its always nickel or dime.

    • Sahr Gborie

What in the blue flames of hell did our scouts and Pace see in Glennon that the rest of the league did not see?

      • BearDown100393

        Clipboard acuity.

  • That Guy

I want to point out something from the Trevathan hit:

Note the ref who throws the flag. He’s coming in from behind the play, strolling in. He didn’t see the hit, because his angle was totally wrong. He saw the Packer on the ground unconscious, and assumed the hit was a personal foul.

I’m not defending the hit. It was illlegal. Helmet-to-helmet, and Trevathan led with the crown. I don’t buy the “defenseless” argument, but it was definitely a bad hit. Fine and possible suspension.

But that ref came in without seeing the hit, and he just saw the aftermath and assumed it was worthy of a flag. That’s about as bad a blown call as the missed roughing the punter. That ref needs to be suspended, too.

  • Big Mike

Can’t stay long. But I figured it out. First apologies, sort of to Jeff and other Glennon detractors. I just wanted to see him play before I passed judgement. I would do the same thing again. But not only is he not good, he’s awful. Is 4 games enough to say, in this case I believe it is. At the point of losing the team. See Akiem Hicks quote above. Fox has jumped the shark over this, and is sealing his fate. Maybe he thought by not playing Trubisky, he has this excuse in the bank. Whatever..

Here is the deal, if it has been said before, whoever said it is genius. By playing Glennon, they are adjusting the bar for QB play. Where forward passes traveling 10+ yards and completed, or thrown beyond the first down markers are viewed as brilliant play designs. So now when Trubisky comes in and does anything remotely athletic, we believe we have Tom Brady.

Also, last weekend I had a 13 year old complete several of the passes that Mr. Glennon missed on last night.

    • Johnnywad

Nobody has said that. Interesting though.

Not sure I agree. We have plenty of info on what good and bad QB play looks like regardless of what Glennon does.

But you’re right in that Trubisky will be a relief nearly regardless of what he does.

      • SC Dave

And given the truth of your last sentence… naw…

It would be giving the staff too much credit to imagine they did this so that the notoriously brutal Chicago fans would not jump their poor baby QB’s ass the minute he had a bad game, wouldn’t it?

        • Johnnywad

I don’t really know what to think on that deal.

I think Fox is a pretty linear thought type of guy. I really doubt he’s playing some high level game of chess non of us can see.

          • SC Dave

            Agreed.

          • BearDown100393

            More likely checkers

      • Big Mike

I distinctly remember how good I thought Cutler was every time we lost him for a period of time. Watched Caleb Hanie, or Barkley, or Hoyer, or Clausen, or whoever the fuck replace him and when Cutler got on the field, he looked like a god. So I do believe when it comes to your very own team, you can have your vision adjusted.

        • Johnnywad

There is a lot of truth there.

In general, I don’t think they thought Glennon could possibly suck this bad. For my .02, I think they were genuinely hoping Glennon could just sort of not get in the way for a month or two while Mitch gets his sea legs. So much for that. Glennon is squarely in the way.

          • Big Mike

            Yeah.. 🙁

        • BearDown100393

Trubisky by default is better than Giraffe

    • haha losing does weird things to fans

Pace and the Bears are not some diabolical Machiavellian masterminds sitting at some table in a dimly lit smoky room like they’re Bond villains at a meeting.

      They’re too incompetent for that.

Pace simply decided to take two homerun swings at a pitch.

He missed on the first swing.

Let’s hope he doesn’t strikeout the 2nd time on Trub.

And I was on the same boat. See what Glennon has (on the Bears, not the Bucs or Jr High tape). First 4 games are likely losses anyways (is Fox still the HC? Yeah, then losing anyways)

If he melts down, tap the rook.

      No biggie.

Spoiler alert. We were never winning a SB with Bellamy dropping passes and Amos getting aerially molested.

Missing the first 4 games isn’t going to stunt Trub’s progress, and most likely, he’s a million times more prepared now, and hungry.

      Tap the rook. Enjoy.

I think Trub is the real deal and will be better than Watson, Kizer and Mahomes combined.

      • Big Mike

I know. I was being sarcastic. I agree with your take on things. I think Pace is doing it right. But Fox is burying himself because of his personality.

        • BearDown100393

          What personality?

          • Big Mike

            Exactly.

    • BearDown100393

      Pace should call you.

  • Sahr Gborie
    • BearDown100393

      Oh darn.

  • Cuck Cooper

    1. How does a GM sign such a bad QB while grossly overpaying him at the same time.
    2. How does a GM allow such a terrible QB to start 4 games for his team?
    3. How can I ever think this GM know’s how to win football games in the NFL?

Yo MB? Move the fack over!

  • madscout12
    • willbest

Lovely. Ref didn’t like the result, threw the flag and justified it.

Again, if the league doesn’t want that hit, it can’t be on the D to not deliver it. It has to be on the O to never get themselves in that situation.

      • Krush12684

It has to be on the defender to not lead with the crown of his helmet. Or if he does, perhaps do it to the center mass of a guys body…instead of his head. That way, he’ll take himself out instead of injuring anothers brain.

        • willbest

How about a guy goes down when he knows he is beat instead of fighting for the favorable spot. And if you want to do away with helmet to helmet hits, do away with helmets.

    • EnderWiggin

      Nice find.

    • Krush12684

That’s not to say that it’s never been called, but
I’ve made it a point over the years to point out the glaring holes in
the league’s “dedication” to “player safety.” One such hole is that when
a running back has his legs wrapped up as he fights for more yards, his
upper body becomes fair game to however many head shots the defense
      wants to deliver.

Yes, the league has enforced rules that protect the heads of
quarterbacks and defenseless receivers, but ball carriers have by and
large been fair game when it comes to getting hit in the helmet.
      ———————————-
“as many head shots as the defense wants to deliver” is “fair game” LOLOLOL

In fucking NAM! In football a head shot is not fucking free game….

      • Krush12684

It happens many times every game: One player holds up the ball carrier
and stops his progress, one or more other players come and deliver
punishing hits on the player who can’t defend himself:
        —————————
This retard doesn’t even realize the difference between a hard hit and a helmet to helmet hit!!!! HAAA!

  • On the positive note, Glennon melting down on national tv vs hated rival might be a blessing in disguise. If he had been “mediocre”, you know Fox would’ve still trotted him out there for a few more games.

This way, we hit rock bottom.

It enrages the fans. Sparks the media. Fox’s pampers can no longer resist the tide.

Sometimes, need to hit rock bottom before true change takes root.

Why did the Bears run out the clock in the final minutes rather than going for a TD if only for the pride of a narrower score? To me it shows a need for a coaching change. A quality coach (and QB) should keep his players giving all right to the end. Their sloppy play, turnovers and penalties, is another indication of the need for change. I doubt if starting Trubisky will do any good for the team or the kid if Fox remains. A change in ownership wouldn’t hurt either! How many mouths does the franchise have to feed???
