• MB30SD

    Konichiwa bitches.

    Glennon for pres 2020!

We already have a glennon on the roster (kinda), his name’s hoyer the destroyer and he’s going to take us to the promiseland of 8 wins next year

  • didn’t really he was that blonde.

  • Sahr Gborie

    I’m done

  • willbest

Look if our goal is to build the D this year and commit to mortgaging the farm for Darnold next year (or whoever) then it doesn’t really matter who is under center this year as long as he doesn’t cost draft picks.

    • leftcoastdave

To me, that definition fits Cutty and Barkley.

      • willbest

Or Hoyer or (ed. Glennon) or Kaep

        • MB30SD

          DESTROYER

          • willbest

            Illogical

          • MB30SD

I honestly don’t see what you and HBP see, it really truly boggles my mind.

All we have to go on is his perf as a bear. He’s the best KNOWN option we have. Better than cutler who obviously has more upside, but invariably more downside too… And we all know which ends up being the side shown.

So I don’t get it… At all. I’m literally stumped by your pov. You’d rather take a shot (and pay big $$$) on someone like kap or tyrod.

Um, ok… But if you don’t think they can take us to the show and/or be a long-term solution what’s the point. Smh

          • Huge Bears Penis

I honestly don’t see what you and others see in Hoyer. Here is what i saw. A shitty QB that had a couple decent games stats wise, but missed seeing a lot of open receivers, as he dumped the ball down. If Hoyer could have those stats in games imagine what a QB that is not captain check down 98% of the time and can throw the ball over 10 yards could do. All i see happening next year with Hoyer is Howard, our young stud RB taking unnecessary hits and being injured by the 4th game while defenses stack the box because our QB can’t throw over 10 yards and only looks at half the field.

And exactly why is it that all we have is his perf as a Bear? He has been in the league for 8 years. He has a proven track record of not being a winner.

kap will be cheap. tyrod will be expensive.

          • MB30SD

OK, so then get Kap for cheap and win the 7 – 9 with him I honestly don’t give a fuck as long as we focus on D this off season and don’t do anything unnecessarily studio at QB this year.

I.e., use our #3 or keep cutler

          • Irish Sweetness

Why would Kaep be cheap? He’s good.

          • willbest

He isn’t. But he will make 12 min

          • leftcoastdave

            At what price?

Pay for what is available this year.

            Dat be da DDDDDDD- fence!!!!

          • MB30SD

You don’t have to preach that shit to me…. But you already knew that

    • MB30SD

Now this statement I 100% agree with.

  • what happened to Barb?

    • MB30SD

He’s been reincarnated as sabir gorbie

      • Circle of life.

I do miss Waffle cranking up the old Romanian Jericho which I imagine catapults burning cabbage instead of missiles.

        • MB30SD

Burning cabbage can be very dangerous

      • Johnnywad

Can’t be. Doesn’t babble on about the Patriots and Tom Brady’s cock all day long.

    • Johnnywad

Said he’d leave for good if the Bears drafted a receiver in the first round. They took White, he left. I made sure the door didn’t hit him in the ass on his way out.

      • ah well. he got his patriots title, so he should be happy.

  • BuddhaJoe

So are we set enough at OLB? Looks like Dont’a Hightower is going to be available. I would say secondary first but damn, that could be sweet.

    • Isn’t Hightower in ILB?

We’re really not good at ILB or OLB.

Houston will likely be cut. That would leave us with Floyd and a hobbled McPhee. maybe Willie Young and Acho.

But if we draft Thomas, that’ll change that.

      • BuddhaJoe

I thought he was OLB but maybe I’m mistaken. I think we’re actually pretty good at linebacker assuming McPhee turns out OK. Willie, Floyd, Freeman, Trevathan, and Kwiatkoswski seems pretty good, but since Houston is probably gone another one wouldn’t hurt. Still think secondary and DE would be a bigger need but he’s there.

Shame about Houston, I thought he would’ve come around if he could’ve stayed on the field.

        • Irish Sweetness

          Pretty good?

Lawrence Taylor and the Giants’ crew. The Orange Crush. The Steel Curtain. The Monsters of the Midway. The Purple People Eaters …..

We’re what now? We have Leonard Floyd. The rest are just Joes.

          • MB30SD

Freeman was a top 5ish ilb last year. He is a beast and usually one of the best players on the field

        • ILB was a strength, until Trevathan got that inj which usu takes two seasons to recover from (if ever. See Cruz) and Freeman got busted for PEDs.

Kwiat is an interesting prospect, but we were saying the same thing about Amos last off-season – let’s see if he steps up.

Now we all want to replace Amos cuz he’s proven nothing more than a JAG.

If Kwiat pans out, that would be awesome. But he was a mid rd draft pick for a reason.

In other words, we’re one inj, drug bust or Kwiat failure away from Christian Jones.

Sad about Tre, but I don’t really count him as part of the equation going forward.

As for OLB, again, not sure about McPhee. He’s been hurt quite a bit, and Young started hot but cooled off.

Sophmore yr slumps are rather common, while like I said, Houston is likely gone.

For that reason I wouldn’t mind Thomas at #3.

Curious to see what Pace does to our LB corps though.

And argument can be made that it’s strong IF you believe that Tre and Mcphee are healthy, but without them we’re rather thin there.

          • leftcoastdave

Agree whole hardheartedly and think the draft has good options. Have not seen much out there in FA but let Pace figure that out.

          • One of the downsides to a 3-4 is that OLBs are a bit harder to come by in FA cuz the good ones are rarely let go

(usu have to take a chance on FAs like McPhee)

But the plus side is that there’s more of them in the draft, could even convert 4-3 DEs into 3-4OLBs if they have the feet (Young).

The ILBs I’m not worried about as much since the NFL has devalued them to such a point that they’re relatively cheap and plentiful in both FA and the draft (I mean, we got TWO starters in the same off-season and Kwiat was like a 4rth rder).

The wildcards are Tre and Mcphee.

          • MB30SD

            That’s what she said

          • Johnnywad

Can’t hold Kwiat’s draft position against him. League’s full of middle round LBs that pan out and have nice careers. Hell, wasn’t Briggs a 3rd?

          • I like Kwiat. I’m willing to give him a chance.

Then again, many of us said the same about Amos and Langford (and some not me about Grasu).

          • CanadaBear

Counting on DT and McPhee next year is like counting on Cutler turning the corner. Not a good idea.

  • BerwynBomber

Jeff’s gonna make me root for Pace signing Glennon …

    • Johnnywad

      LOL.

I get that way sometimes too.

      “Fuck it. I’ll show you.”

  • AlbertInTucson

“A picture is worth a thousand words.”

    • Sahr Gborie

Trust word “no”…Who has the second word?

      • AlbertInTucson

        “No” x 999…?

  • What, no horns?

    • leftcoastdave

      The tail is hidden.

  • leftcoastdave

“Why can’t Bears be good next year? They’ll have top 10 defense and top
power run game. And why is Hoyer or Glennon the only option?”

Because during the season, dumping Cutty became the meme. Now it is seen as fait accompli.

Why must it be, and why can that decision made then not be revisited now that the alternatives are better known to all?

    • MB30SD

Sigh. Ok, so keep Cutler and at about game 8ish (we’ll be about 4-4 if were lucky and bad cutty hasn’t been too omnipresent) when he goes down with a season ending injury, then what?

      • Sahr Gborie

You are not alone. Most people want to win now and are placing their hopes on Cuttys upside. Others like you and me see us getting the same results with or without Cutty and think “why bother with him at all?”

        • leftcoastdave

And the answer remains, what is the best alternative?

          Hope and change?

We all know how that turned out.

          • BerwynBomber

So Cutty is the GOP and his replacement is Obama? Was Cutty Trump or Bush?

          • Vaccines are rigged?

          • leftcoastdave

            Does it matter?

The hope and change for half the country sucks, whether eight years ago or today.

What can be done this year is obtain what is available in FA and the draft.

And that ain’t no QB worth taking a chance on when there is so much other talent to build upon.

          • BerwynBomber

Only you would turn the Cutty situation into politics. And why do you want to hold on to him so badly? What will be lost if he is gone?

          • leftcoastdave

It was not meant to be political, merely analogous.

          • Sahr Gborie

Exactly. What are we losing if Cutty goes? I’m starting to a lot of Bears fans behave like someone who does not want to let a bad relationship go just because they are afraid they will not be able to get into a good relationship so they stick with what they know even though it’s bad. WTF?!?

When have we ever seen the Patriots/Packers/Steelers act like this?

Sometimes you have to move backwards to go forward? Let’s think back to the two nerds…Did they ever give us the feeling that they were working towards a bigger picture goal like Lord Pace? Hell no. Pace has a vision. He laid it out: build through the draft and sprinkle it with FA. He is following through on that plan.

          • Irish Sweetness

We’re losing a good QB for no good reason and nothing in place. A new QB needs to learn the offense all over. Cutler is better than Hoyer, end of.

          • Sahr Gborie

“a good QB”?!? By Cleveland Browns standards?!? Let’s try and aspire for better: BRADY/THE GUY UP NORTH

          • MB30SD

That’s exactly the problem… Same with alshon. We’ve been shit for so long, just OK looks good to us. Sucks.

          • MB30SD

          • Sahr Gborie

There is no good QB in FA/DRAFT. Take a chance on KAP or BARKLEY. Strength the O-LINE with the guy from Baltimore. Hope and pray Howard survives the season and mortgage the farm for S.DARNOLD.

We are still one more season from contending and making a string playoff push. In the meantime who is the best FA QB we have a realistic shot at getting without giving up #3 and playing respectable football?

          • Irish Sweetness

Kap isn’t “taking a chance” .. .with him it’s getting him and paying him. He’s not a terrible QB.

          • MB30SD

            He’s not good either

          • Sahr Gborie

You can make Cutty salary for 2017 Kaps guarantees money for a 2-3 yr contract. If you end up with a R.WILSON/SEATTLE suitation you can cut KAP. No harm done.

      • Irish Sweetness

Hoyer won’t be able to win games. He’s not a march em down the field kind of guy. Hasn’t got the tools to make the crucial throws.

        • MB30SD

          Sure he was…

    • I saved this. I wish I could make this a GIF or something cuz I’m gonna be reposting this till Cutlerites puke

        HE. WAS. INJURED.

        • He did pretty well vs Vikes before the Bucs meltdown.

          • leftcoastdave

And he did pretty damn good in ’15. Question is, what can he do in ’17 with an OL which has begun to gel with Whitehair now having a season under his belt and the other four reading on the same page? Not to mention Jordan Howard having a much better feel for protection as well as the proven record running the ball? This year should start out much differently with that added degree of stability, not to mention the real likelihood of a defense not giving up so many points and actually providing better field position. And then there’s the potential difference in special teams if the focus remains on DDDDD- fence!!! Even granny Hoyer might have a much improved record if we can win with four or five field goals.

          • My point was, that Cutler was NOT injured.

He’s just an inj prone TO machine

            (See above/below stats)

If Cutler were transported in time and started for the 85 Bears, he’d still have turned it over 30 times (if he even lasted more than 4 games)

          • MB30SD

            BIIIIIINGO!!

        • Can anybody make Cam Meredith have back-to-back 100 yd games?

        • MB30SD

Cutler gets INJURED. AND IS OUT. EVERY. YEAR.

          EVERY….. SINGLE… YEAR.

        • Sahr Gborie

1question: can Cutty get us to the playoffs? If your first thought is no or you have to give an explanation as to how/why he can then he needs to go because BRADY/RODGERS/BIG BEN/CAM/RUSSELL/LUCK don’t get excuse made for them. Just ask yourself can any of these guys be counted on to get their team to the post season? The answer is yes.

Please let’s not make excuse like lack of talent around Cutty. Who does LUCK have?

  • Irish Sweetness

    Look at his face. No.

  • BerwynBomber

Last minute Cutty grasping is on! This is gonna be a fun couple of months.

Look at everything else we have done in FA and what we did with our draft choices and we believe that you will see a much improved team going forward.” (And yada, yada, yada)

      • Bobby Douglass

        13. No, I mean 12.

        • Bobby Douglass

          And 18 the following year.

      • willbest

Every year he misses multiple games he misses 1 the following year. I can live with that

        • MB30SD

Suuuure, you hold on tightly to that little dream Willie.

I don’t give a fuck how many games he misses next year, as long as it’s for the jets

          • leftcoastdave

I’d be down with that for a third.

    • BerwynBomber

“Dying king”? Hah! If this recent era of Bears had any sort of king he retired after the 2012 season and wore the number between 53 and 55.

Yeah, Cutler’s availability has not been all that bad. About average I suspect, though six weeks for a sprained thumb was ridiculous. But durability is one of his lesser flaws.

      • willbest

I am convinced it was a ligament tear. Fox didn’t get the Pete Caroll Sherman workover because nobody cares about the Bears.

        • BerwynBomber

A small tear is a sprain so I don’t understand your theory. Unless you are saying it was a major tear but at that point surgery would be required.

          • willbest

Pretty much. Surgery meant a min of 8 weeks on the IR and they were hoping they could get by with 3-4

          • BerwynBomber

But he never had thumb surgery, did he?

          • willbest

I have no idea. All that has been reported on is the shoulder surgery, which he is presumably on track in terms of rehab.

          • BerwynBomber

So he had secret thumb surgery?

Between your conspiracy theory and Butch’s benching one, his is more plausible. But I’ll stick with the facts. He had a sprain.

          • willbest

I am not claiming secret thumb surgery. But its clear it wasn’t a simple sprain. He tried practicing once the Thurday after the Eagles game and didn’t practice again until the week of the Minny game. No, limited participation, no slow walking his return, nothing. Just taking up roster space being a super secret benching according to Butch.

          • BerwynBomber

Then it wasn’t a significant ligament tear. It was a sprain — a minor tear.

      • Irish Sweetness

      • CanadaBear

Nancy said the same thing about Sid Vicious (and he REALLY needed to practice).

        • Bobby Douglass

We must be similar in the years category. Sid did it his way. Except for when Nancy told him otherwise. Hey man, I know at least three chords.

          • CanadaBear

I figured with your screen name, we have to be around the same age. 60+.

          • Bobby Douglass

I was a kid when I liked watching Bobby play. A bit younger than you, but same ideals. 1000 yards for a QB was a big deal!

          • CanadaBear

Did you ever see the clip of him playing for the Sox? He threw a horribly telegraphed change up and the guy hits a screamer right at him. He ran the ball over to first for the out. The sportscaster said, even in a different sport he runs better than he throws. Really made me laugh. They said he could stand at home plate and throw a ball into the left field seats at Comiskey.

          • Bobby Douglass

I saw that! I think he used to break the WRs fingers with how hard he threw the ball.

    • leftcoastdave

I like how they picked best available for need, but the reality of Trub being the only QB going in the first round seems slim. And Cleveland taking Fournette at 12 would be great for them on a static board.

    • MB30SD

Bucky Brooks is a tool, just fyi

      • Bender McLugh

      • Bender McLugh

        I agree

  • Bender McLugh

Hooker reminds me of a smaller, young Deon Sanders. I think he could be that good.

Use him in the slot at the goal line too. Garrett could do that too. Not so sure Adams could.

  • Bender McLugh

Jake Butt is the real deal. I wouldn’t let him get to the mid rounds.

I agree with this, if he’s there in the 3rd that’s a good pick

The ring around the rosie game of QB’s will be interesting and fun to watch. After all of the talk “lucky to get a six for Cutty”, I think it will be otherwise and may even involve a trade instead of a pick. We shall see. So far much sound and fury signifying nothing. 9ers with all the capital and nobody on the roster, Houston with the horses needing a rider, Dallas always a player sitting with Romo. Titans offering up the fifth.
    Should be fun.

  • willbest

    Training camp typically starts with
A presumed starter (or a day one or two draft pick)

A backup that won’t embarass too much
A guy that has been around the league for a few years
    A flier prospect

signing Shaw makes it a lot less likely that Barkley will be around unless Pace has somehow upgraded him to the backup tier.

    • MB30SD

So then it shaping up to be….

      QB1 – Hoyer
      QB2 – Barkley
      QB3 – Shaw

      About what we expected.

      • willbest

Only if you ignore Glennon rumors, the Jimmy G rumors, and the drafting Watson rumors, and the fact that neither Barkley nor Hoyer have resigned with the Bears.

        • MB30SD

I don’t get a Glennon move. Doesn’t make sense to me, so until it happens I’m ignoring it.

As for the others, rumors aren’t closed deals. HOYER and/or Barkley will sign with us at some point.

          • BerwynBomber

Bridge guy. Potential upgrade over any guy we had on our depth chart last year.

          • MB30SD

Not really. That’s the whole thing. What % upgrade at what price.

            Makes no sense

          • BerwynBomber

I’d assume less costly than Cutty but significantly more than Hoyer. I also assume if there is any sort of bidding war on Glennon, Pace will walk off the lot.

          • MB30SD

Right so if he’s a lot more that HOYER, how much better is he? Marginally if at all.

            Doesn’t add up

          • willbest

I don’t think you can sign a QB who is your presumed starter for less than $8 million anymore.

          • BerwynBomber

Agreed. And that pretty much falls smack dab in the middle between what Cutler makes and what Hoyer makes.

          • willbest

My point was Hoyer won’t cost all that much less than Jay in 2017.

          • BerwynBomber

Hoyer will get nowhere near Jay money, which is 15-16M. That’s a far, far cry from 8M.

          • willbest

Hoyer will get at a minimum 3-year $24 million dollar deal with $12 million guarantee. Call it the Chase Daniels contract adjusted for the new cap. If Hoyer is not your QB1 in 2018 you will have paid him $12 million for QB1 services in 2017. Jay Cutler will cost between 12.5-15 million in 2017 depending on how much he plays.

          • Yeah, but Chase Daniels was a 3rd QB at one point behind Wentz and Bradford.

I think many of us are going to have to adjust mentally to the new cap $ FAs are gonna reap.

          • willbest

Had bradford signed his deal when Daniels signed? I have no idea what Philly was doing but it apparently worked out for them.

          • BerwynBomber

12M guaranteed on a three year deal is not the same as Cutty banking 16M next year, unless you are saying Hoyer will get all his guaranteed money in year 1.

          • Sahr Gborie

Even if he gets 12mil for 17. That’s 12 mil to groom our QB of the future for the next 10yrs. Is 12 mil not worth it?

          • willbest

It is if you are only using him for 1 year. And why the F would you use hoyer for more than 1 year.

          • Irish Sweetness

Will he fuck. He can’t play football.

          • I think you’re right. Hoyer should get around $8M (Fitz got $12M last yr), but the guarantees and cap hit beyond this year will be minimal, and Glennon should get more cuz the NFL is stupid like that. They love the devil they don’t know.

          • Irish Sweetness

It means they would keep Cutty. Backup with no chance of QB controversy.

          • MB30SD

Hahahaha… Jay cutler is a living QB controversy. And Glennon is a much more but worse option than HOYER.

            Makes perfect sense… We’re dogshit!

      • Johnnywad

If they clog up a roster spot with Barkley’s sorry ass……..

        • MB30SD

Meh, we have much more pressing issues elsewhere

        • CanadaBear

If it’s those 3 QB’s, if Shaw is #2 Barkley is probably not on the roster. Not sure how they will work it if they draft a QB. They will have to carry 3 QB’s if they draft one in the first 3-4 rds.

          • Sahr Gborie

I think Shaw is the starter for 17 unless THE DESTROYER beats him out in camp or they don’t sign him at all. Shaw had a broken leg and they still made a spot for him and resigned him before they even talked to Barkley or THE DESTROYER

          • leftcoastdave

RFA and at what price? Love it that the kid jumped at it. “Put me in coach.” He’s a gamer and I’ve gotta hope only the best for him. The fact that he has some maturity on his body and better knowledge of the system now cannot hurt.

        • Agree.
I prefer “contingency plan” as QB3, ie, a mid-rd draft prospect

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

Jess! And all three can take the field at the same time. We can call it the “3” formation and shock the nation. Yeah baby!

        • MB30SD

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

Those numbers you posted are very significant. Are you trying to tell me something?

          • MB30SD

            nope

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

            Just making sure.

      • QB1 – Hoya
        QB2 – Shaw
        QB3- Peterman

        • MB30SD

sure, as long as peterman is picked up in 3 or 4… preferably 4

          • We have two 4rths.

Be ok with using them to trade back into the 3rd for him.

4rth rounders rarely pan out anyways. Usu. just depth guys.

I’d roll the dice on Petermen in the mid-late 3rd, fo sho

          • MB30SD

TWO 4s for him… fuuuuuck that dude.

          • I would first try with a 4rth and 6th (sp team fodder)

But we gotta start putting $ on the table for QB.

Replacing Cutty isn’t gonna be seamless.

Not everyone has a Peyton or Dak fall in their lap

          • MB30SD

next year mano…. next year. Fix the D, get us a TE and another tackle a DE and some DB depth in FA and the draft… THEN let’s focus errathing we have on QB/WR next offseason.

            that’s my fucking plan.

          • Irish Sweetness

Yet you want Cutler gone .. .so …. it’s Hoyer?

          • MB30SD

Or Shaw or Barkley… Whichever win out in camp. I really don’t care cause we’re not winning more than 8 – 9 games next year without Jimmyg, so who cares.

          • MB30SD

100%, we’re not going to the playoffs so why not have a QB that won’t give you a fucking Stoke every other weekend

          • Irish Sweetness

Dak didn’t fall into anyone’s lap, he was passed on 3 times by some teams.

          • Irish Sweetness

But we only carry two QBs. Who’s your other one?

        • Waffle

That’s a fag lineup right there. Just just be a raiders fan and get the fuck out

          • If you want Barkley in there, fine with me.

It’s annoying that you’d rather have below average NFL talent and slightly above average college talent as our qb. Boggles my fucking mind.

          • I’m not thinking about winning the SB this year.

I’m thinking about finding a REAL franchise QB going forward.

            Cargo is NOT that guy.

And most likely, neither are the other options at QB this year

(Unless you buy into Tyrod or Romo)

Mang. Why waste the second rounder on a guy who will never be the the guy?

  • beninnorcal

Say what you will about Cutler, time to move on, blah blah blah, whatever. But one must admit, when compared to his career #’s, that ’16 was a bit of an anomaly when it comes to his stats and production.
I think the thumb injury was more serious than the team let on. I know he missed significant time with it. But starting in the 2nd half of the Houston game(I think he hurt it in the first half), and into the Philly game, you could see that his accuracy was way off.
I never saw him throw as many ground balls as he did this year. He never recovered.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Which is why moving on from him is probably a moot argument. His career may be over.

      • MB30SD

I was just about to say that.

Correct Ben, and he’s only getting older and more brittle and all of his injuries are starting to pile up bud.

Let him be the Jets stripsack

        • beninnorcal

Again, I’m not against it. I’m tired of the whole thing and ready to move on myself. But just pointing out that wherever he goes, he may have a bounce-back season.

          • MB30SD

            Suuuure. I won’t care.

          • beninnorcal

            Fair enough, MB.

      • Irish Sweetness

        He’s 33!!

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

If he’s lost full function of his throwing hand?

    • BerwynBomber

Cutty was always capable of inaccuracy and bad decisions. Big reasons why he has the second worst INT ratio of anyone in the league during the course of his career.

      • beninnorcal

I’m comparing this to other Cutty years. Sure, he throws plenty of interceptions, always has. But most of those are just not seeing a defender or trying to squeeze one in there, or lobbing an errant ball as he’s being sacked right to a DL.
I’m referring to the amount of times that he threw the ball right into the ground 10-20 feet in front of his target, I’ve never seen that from him like I did this year.
        Maybe I was imagining it.

  • MB30SD

I don’t know what to tell you MB. His 1206 is part of public record. So either you are arguing he got lucky as fuck on the SAT or you are arguing it wasn’t him. It has nothing with me being a good little foot soldier. Simple fact of the matter is you got a vibe, and now it doesn’t matter what evidence somebody presents.

As for the actual events, has anybody denied the FISA court granted the subpoena to the DoJ to investigate the Trump campaign back in October? The DoJ incidentally is headed up by the same lady that had an urgent meeting on the tarmac with Bill Clinton to discuss grandchildren.

  • One aspect I like about the “slave auction” is former slaves talking shop.

Like Steve Smith talking about the intricacies of running a post-corner, or Carr talking about how Kizer’s front foot is always different which affects his accuracy.

    Learn something new every combine.

(also, we CAN NOT draft Kizer. Saw him throw high and low on a hook route, the easiest route to hit, without any pressure in spandex. PASSSS)

    • willbest

      Fair enough

    • MB30SD

when was he ever a not pass?

      • willbest

I had been favoring him of the 3. Principally because Trubisky seems a bit too cutlery and Watson seems a bit too RG3. So if Pace felt he needed to bet his career on a QB, Kizer was currently my preferred. Though I have also been on Mahomes and Kayaa round 2 or 3 bandwagons.

        • leftcoastdave

I like Kizer’s size and intelligence, but his happy feet and stare down eyes need to get fixed. Not a 3 pick for this team imho. Not to mention the fact that he is way too eager to run and take a hit.

  • QB who looked pretty comfortable Jerod Evans. Also ran a 4.8 (like Kizer) and ran for like 800 yds at VT

Kaaya also looked smooth out there.

Pay attention to the post-corner throw. College has all but abandoned that route, and it can reveal who has zip, timing and confidence.

    • Bender McLugh

Kaaya, what round would we need to draft him?

      • Kaaya should be there in the 2nd or 3rd depending on the QB rush.

I wouldn’t want him at the top of the 2nd though.

In the 3rd and beyond, maybe.

Kamara is the guy I wanted in the later rds to complement Howard and return, though his 40 wasn’t all that fast.

Florida State RB Dalvin Cook tested as ninth-percentile SPARQ athlete at the NFL Combine.

Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara had the highest SPARQ score of any back in Indy, hitting the 79th percentile. Cook was at the oppositeend of the spectrum, struggling in the three-cone drill (7.27), 20-yard
shuttle (4.53), vertical (30.5″), and broad jump (9’8″). He did run a solid forty (4.49). Still, it was a concerning weekend for a back considered a potential first-round pick. According to 3 Sigma Athlete’sZach Whitman, no running back who tested as a sub-10th-percentile SPARQ athlete has been drafted in the first round in the last 17 years. – Roto

    • willbest

I am not familiar with SPARQ. If an RB is only topping out at 79th, who are the 90th+ players?

      • MB30SD

        The smart ones

        • willbest

Well the google tells me it stands for speed, power, agility, reaction, quickness, which doesn’t seem like a E=mc2 type evaluation.

          • MB30SD

            Ahhh, it’s an agility measure.

            So the DBS most likely?

Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline reports the Jets plan to make a “big push” for free agent Mike Glennon when the new league year begins on Thursday.

However, Pauline reports the “vast majority” of league personnel currently in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine believe Glennon will end up signing with the Bears. The Jets and Bears are the only two teams known to have Glennon on their radars. 27-year-old Glennon has spent the last two years backing up Jameis Winston after losing his starting job to Josh McCown in 2014. – Roto

    • willbest

If Glennon being QB1 is the price we pay for Thomas or Hooker or Garrett or Adams, so be it.

      • Huge Bears Penis

at least it is not Hoyer.

        • MB30SD

          Thank god

    • Irish Sweetness

Doesn’t this spell Cutty/Glennon? Surely he would only be signed as the backup.

  • Royal replacement in the 4rth?

Louisiana Tech WR Carlos Henderson clocked 4.46 in the forty-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

He added a solid 36-inch vertical and especially impressive10-foot-11 broad jump, showing the lower-body explosiveness that made Henderson one of the NCAA’s best run-after catch receivers. While
Henderson is primarily a slot man, he showed athleticism on Saturday that suggests he could be functional outside, as well. We like Henderson’s chances of going in the top-50 picks. – Roto

    • willbest

like his chances in the top 50 almost certainly means he goes in the top 107 which is how many 1st through 3rd round picks there are this year owing to ELEVEN!!! 3rd round comp picks.

      • Man, that’s a lot of comps

        • willbest

There are 32 comps every year, but they are mostly 5-7th round picks. Somehow this year things are a lot different.

          Number of 3rd round comps
          2016: 4
          2015: 3
          2014: 4
          2013: 3
          2012: 1
          2011: 1
          2010: 3

          • They never release the formulas for that, I don’t think.

            Wonder why not.

          • willbest

Probably to prevent people from gaming the system.

          • I was thinking the same, but if EVERY team has the formula, wouldn’t it be moot (or is the NFL afraid of a ton of compensations?)

          • willbest

Do the teams know? I thought it was some sort of creation approved by the competition committee. If the GM’s all know what it is, then its probably kept hidden to prevent the player agents from finding out.

          • Huge Bears Penis

the guys at overthecap.com come pretty close on their predictions each year, so they are narrowing down the equation. They have a couple articles explaining the equation.

ps. i don’t feel like looking for the link. so don’t ask

  • On the brighter side.

ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher believes impending free agent NT Dontari Poe will sign elsewhere in free agency.

Both coach Andy Reid and GM John Dorsey expressed a desire to get something done with Poe, but it seems unlikely. The Chiefs are strapped for cap space, and Poe is likely to land a big deal on the open market. Poe is Rotoworld’s No. 4 available defensive lineman. – Roto

    • MB30SD

      Yes please.

welp… At least we found our Jay cutler replacement!

      • Supposedly Alshon’s agent is talking to Bears again, and DT Williams from Ravens and Pryor are also expected to test market, so maybe some moves Bears can make.

Smells like a Merc. Hit n miss with guys like that.

      • leftcoastdave

        Sweet. Fridge redux.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

What about Goldman? We can have both?

      • Poe is a true NT. He has the body and athleticism to hold the point.

Goldman is big and buff, but need a bubble butt in there to stack em up.

I think Goldman would do better at DE rotating to NT on passing down.

  • I’ll just park this riiiiight here.

“The Bucs haven’t ruled out re-signing free agent FS Chris Conte.

Conte was atrocious in Tampa Bay last season, getting
benched for Keith Tandy. The Bucs should want Conte back as nothing
more than a third safety.” – Roto

Can you even stand it? I can.

      hee hee

ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports the Jets “aren’t done cutting players” and could move on from Eric Decker.

The Jets have gone scorched earth, pulling the plug on RyanClady, Breno Giacomini, Erin Henderson, Nick Folk, Nick Mangold, Brandon Marshall and Darrelle Revis. The purge may not be over as
Decker, Marcus Gilchrist, Calvin Pryor, Sheldon Richardson and Buster Skrine are all in danger of exiting. Cimini considers David Harris “safe,” but that could change if the Jets sign an inside linebacker. After going 5-11, the Jets are gearing up for a full rebuild. – Roto

        These children were murdered. smh

nothing states that they were murdered.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

800 infants and children just decided to go there and die? There’s all kinds of documented cases throughout modern history for those that want to see the truth. Biggest modern day tragedy is the cover up of the Catholic Church’a crimes against humanity.

Let me be clear, my comments are directed at the Roman Cult in the Vatican and not against the innocent and decent church members that are oblivious to what’s going on.

          • Huge Bears Penis

I do understand and there is more than enough reason to be skeptical, which I am. But with the higher mortality rates when this occurred could possibly explain it. From the article it was an overcrowded facility so a flu outbreak each year could have done some serious damage. Could it have been murder? absolutely. I just need more evidence of it.

    • CanadaBear

And some people wonder why I’m a recovering catholic.

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

Totally get it. There’s way more horror stories than alter boys being diddled Canada. I heard a women’s story detailing the absolute living hell she was put through at a convent in mexico. She escsped one night, had to scale and jump a 30ft iron fence, broke multiple bones in her body and was lucky to escape with her life. Dungeons, torture, rape, starvation, murder, sadistic treatment designed to dehumanize and torment.

  • leftcoastdave

Looks like the Bull market for draft picks peaked out last year. Titans and Jets both advertising their desire to trade down.

    • willbest

It could just mean there research suggests there are 20 odd guys they can’t really tell the difference between

      • leftcoastdave

They are stacked at DL and not enamored of any QB’s. Looks like it could be a great year for those with a number of picks to move up cheap. A “bear” market, not a Bear market.

  • Irish Sweetness

So if the rumor is true :

    1. Jay Cutler.
    2. Mike Glennon.

Say what you like, it looks like an actual NFL roster.

    • Bender McLugh

Can’t be terribly bad at it, them guys

    • Huge Bears Penis

what rumors are you referring to that has Cutler still on the roster?

      • Irish Sweetness

I can’t believe they would sign Glennon as the starting QB.
