I haven’t paid the least bit attention but did we bring any kickers or punters into camp this year?
we signed a UDFA kicker. no punters.
A kicker name Andy Phillips out of Utah. 28(!) years old.
he has an interesting story. He was a olympic skier who decided to try his hand a kicking.
I’m pretty sure Cruz will make the team. They will probably carry an extra WR (Bellamy for ST’s ?). I still think Carey makes the squad over Langford. Not convinced Fuller makes the squad. If he comes into camp with the same attitude, I can’t imagine Fox and Fangio putting up with that for another year. Guaranteed contract or not.
If Cruz looks good in training camp, he will make the roster at he expense of Bellamy.
Bellamy offers nothing as WR and has ST value only. I listed many ST contributors to make the point that any one of them could supplant Bellamy and take over what he was doing on STs last year. Bellamy is already 28 and has been playing year to year and I doubt ST alone will him a roster spot this year. They would rather have some one who is more in Bears long-term plans as ST standout player.
Fuller is good as a back up…really as a good a back up as Fox/Fangio/Donatell are going to find. Plus he has the right incentive. Fuller will be on the free agent market after this season and will be motivated to put out as much good tape on the opportunities he gets.
Carey vs Langford, I went with Langford because i don’t think Pace is ready yet to give up on his 2015 4th round pick.
If Fuller plays the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up card” again this year, he’s gone. Think you’re off base with Bellamy and the age thing. 28 is a person’s prime and every year is a new year with ST’s. The Bears have routinely kept 6 WR’s over the years. If Pace keeps Langford over Carey it’s only because he picked him. I’d take Carey every day of the week over Langford.
I definitely agree on Carey over Langford.
Don’t quite get the Carey love. The most significant play he has produced was that killer drop which arguably would have iced the game last year against JAX.
Langford doesn’t seem much better but he did acquit himself reasonably well as a rookie.
I’d be surprised if Fuller is cut. Fangio calling him out in the press last year had a hint of bluff about it.
It’s not about Carey love. He’s just better than Langford. Hell, Garrett Wolfe was better than Langford.
That’s just dumb.
Carey plays violently. Either at RB or ST’s. Not super talented but he brings it. Langford has more athletic ability but I rarely see him ball out. Not a big deal either way. Getting towards the last few spots on the roster there. I’m baffled by Fuller. Don’t think I’m alone there.
Give up on a 4th round pick?? We shouldn’t fear cutting away the fat.
Yeah, I don’t buy the Langford is around because Pace selected him nonsense. As you indicated, he was a fourth-rounder … AKA .. a bit of a longshot anyway. My guess is if they keep him they just like him better than Carey.
Great story here with a good video about our Joker here:
Houston-Carson can go. Fuller can go (he should be cut just on principal).
Langford is borderline for me.
Here’s my thing about Fuller, though. If he completely dogged it last year, why did they bring him back? Why not cut him (or trade him if he would have yielded anything) in the off-season? He is an Emery pick. Pace and Fox have no tie to him. So why is he still around?
My guess is Fangio and Fox like his talent. Fangio calling him out in public last year (personally, I thought it was meatball dumb) may have only been meant to light a fire under his arse. They could still cut him this summer, of course. But I’m almost of the belief that if he makes it thru camp and the preseason healthy, he will make the 53.
I had no issue with Fangio saying what he did. He must have been beside himself to say that. Unless Fuller had complications from the clean up surgery, I’ll never understand how a 2-4 week recovery became 20 weeks. I’m guessing they are hoping to get something out of him this year and that’s the only reason he is still around. Really a strange case.
Not a fan of a player’s coaches or his teammates calling out the validity of his injuries in public.
Yeah, tough to say what the end game is with Fuller.
I’m always impressed by how many young drunks are overtly patriotic.
They are also Irish in March and Mexican in May.
They are also Muslim during Ramadan…. them silly drunks.
They might stand out a little more at that celebration!
I have been to a couple Muslim weddings. Very dry affairs, except all the flasks discretely being used to spruce up drinks under the table.
Its not as flashy as a CNN logo takedown, but the Rahmfather trolls NYC over its subway problem by talking up our modest system in the NYT.
I eagerly await DeBlaiso’s op-ed in the Chicago Tribune comparing Chicago and NYC murder rates, and police behavior.
Happy almost 4th gents. One good thing about moving north, real fireworks! They’ve got mortars galore, although they are far more expensive than they are in North Carolina. Still, anything is better than those glorified sparklers they sell in California. Now lets celebrate America by blowing up a small piece of it!
That’s Kaly phone ya. Land of the tree (hugger) and home of the depraved.
Porn capital of the world, exporter of all things loony.
Happy 4th everyone. Here’s a little Ray Charles doing my favorite version of my favorite patriotic song.
Gotta love Ray! Hope you’re not working tomorrow! Have a great holiday.
You too man! Working tomorrow, but taking Friday afternoon – Sunday off. Tomorrow will be hard work but fun. Gonna clear a bunch of small trees and undergrowth on a walking path to open up a really cool view and vista overlooking the La Crosse River, a huge marsh, and some bluffs on the other side.
Awesome! Have a great weekend when it gets here!
Didn’t even need to click the link. Ray Charles singing America the Beautiful is burned into my brain forever. It is the unofficial Independence Day theme song. (I hope that is what the link is to!)
How is the President of the USA allowed to tweet? Is there anyone vetting them? I remember Obama saying he wasn’t allowed to have a phone because of national securitry. What about international relations?
The POTUS … thinking out loud on the internet?
How else should he deal with a media which makes things up?
A year of fake news. 6 months of 24/7 coverage about nothing.
They are hysterical.
His right to reply, okay, I can dig that.
I try not to get political on here, but to say this is coverage about nothing is asinine. We know 100% Russia worked very hard to help Trump win. We know 100% there have been at least 3 high-ranking members of Trump’s team who have lied under oath about connections to Russia (Kushner, Sessions, Flynn).
We do not know if there was any active efforts by Trump or anybody on his team to recruit Russia to help them, but there is certainly enough there to justify a special investigator who will try to answer that question. Now it’s his job to figure out what happened.
And that’s not even mentioning the fact that Trump himself admitted to obstruction of justice and witness tampering in how he handled Comey. Or the fact that his failure to divest himself from his businesses means he has been in violation of the Constitution (according to several prominent Republican lawyers, such as George W. Bush’s ethics consultant) from the moment he took the oath of office.
Has the media gotten hysterical in their coverage at times? Absolutely. But to say there is nothing there is just a flat-out lie.
Yep. Thing is Wood, they’re all dirty. In my opinion, you don’t get to the top without dirty dealings. IMO its nearly impossible to gain/maintain power in DC without breaking the rules in some way.
Not excusing it, just saying they’re all sneaky in one way or another.
Nobody in DC is squeaky clean. Most pols have made a deal with the devil long before they got to DC.
1) Um we don’t know any of that. I suggest you look up the definition of lie and under oath.
2) He could have fucking ordered Comey to stop investigating Flynn, and it wouldn’t have been obstruction of justice. Read the first sentence of article II again. Learn it and live it. Comey worked for him. The special prosecutor works for him too. He can fire him too and it won’t be obstruction of justice. You are mistaking politically palatable and legal. Don’t do that. But Nixon… But Clinton… Its not the actions, its the coverup. Don’t cover anything up, and the only course of action is to vote him out in 2020. Where is the cover up?
“The special prosecutor works for him too. He can fire him too and it won’t be obstruction of justice.”
Damn, son. What a joke you are.
Special Prosecutor can be fired for good cause. “He is investigating me and finding dirt on me” is not a good cause to fire.
Plus the only AG can fire him. But current AG is himself under Russia investigation and has recused himself. So it comes down to Deputy AG. The Deputy AG himself appointed the special prosecutor. And Deputy AG has publicly stated he won’t fire the special prosecutor without a good cause.
So Orange Chimpanzee will have to first fire Deputy AG just because he is not ready to fire the special prosecutor. Then he needs to find a bootlicker ready to fire special prosecutor without cause. Good luck with that.
Dude, Orange Chimpanzee is the biggest creator of fake news. He has been doing it for decades.
Remember John Barron? remember John Miller? These were Orange Chimpanzee’s fake spokesmen in New York. He used to himself call NY papers and tabloids and pretend to be John Barron or John Miller and plant bullshit stories about how great he is or spread rumors about his rivals.
Remember when Melania plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech at convention? Orange Chimpanzee blamed on her assistant Meredith McIver. Except there is no person called Meredith McIver. They created a whole fake person to deflect the blame.
I know it is hard for people, especially stupid people, to admit that they had been had by a con man but don’t go so far up orange chimpanzee’s butt that you are completely in the dark. Come out once in a while for a gasp of fresh air and to see the light and to see the reality.
Dude, the whole country has been had .. .by the politicians bending over for the bankers. It’s already been done. Y’got scammed out of all your wealth. Y’all lost. We lost. It’s a done deal.
Do you know how fake Orange chiimpanzee is?
He created fake Time magazine covers showing himself on the cover, framed them and hung them on his golf courses. Time magazine found out this week and sent letters to his golf courses. They took them down without any response.
Think about it how Orange Chimpanzee has you fooled. The man who cannot stop bitching about fake MSM news is so needy of their adoration that he creates fake covers of himself. Orange chimpanzee needs fakes news MSM adoration like fish needs water.
1) The First Amendment applies to all citizens.
2) It would seem not.
3) Depending on the day (or perhaps more importantly the audience), I could be convinced that it is as useful for POTUS to be feared as respected.
4) Yup. Obama won in no small part due to social media – perhaps Trump-like behavior could have been anticipated. I, for one, certainly did not expect it so soon. On the other hand, I long ago gave up any expectation that political communications with the public be thorough and reasoned. That went out generations ago. Probably starting with the Kennedy-Nixon debate and going downhill from there.
The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. – Art. II
I think you are mistaking protocol with ability. The party not in the WH always bitches about protocol not being followed. Which was the kerfluffle over Obama wanting to carry around a non-approved phone.
I am sure there were complaints about the president using the radio to talk directly to the American people 100 years ago too. The gate keepers will always complain about their loss of status.
As for international relations, I suspect that none of those guys pay all that much attention to what each other says to their people. They all playing the same game even if their tactics for playing it are different. The question is what they are willing to do, or let slide unofficially.
international relations are handled by a Facebook Group
For example, we are currently posturing and saber rattling over Syria with Russia, but we seem to do a reasonably okay job at giving each other a heads up when we are doing strikes.
Or with North Korea and China. China gave the US the appearance it imposed sanctions and the US pretended China imposed sanctions.
So it seems that despite Trump’s unorthodox nature, we are still cooperating as well as we always have.
” we seem to do a reasonably okay job at giving each other a heads up when we are doing strikes.”
At the risk of starting WWIII I would certainly hope so. Comparing cock-sizes in the Bay of Pigs nearly ended life on Earth.
Actually, Trump would be a good thing for Russian relations. There needs to be good relations and talking. They’re good decent people just like most human beings and we should all be friends. Whether you’re Christian or Jewish or an athiest, that’s the only way forward.
No. Mankind did not then, and does not now, have the power to end life on Earth. Every time I hear such silliness I understand the failure of science teaching in the world.
Ahh, I gotcha.
So when Nixon fired Archibald Cox (special prosecutor), and the House started on Articles of Impeachment for obstruction of justice, and then Nixon resigned, they were all totally wrong about the law and you are right.
Apparently, you are unaware that the legislature can impeach anybody that they can get 50%+1 house members to agree on. And that the person is removed if 67 Senators concur.
You really are having a tough time with legal vs. political solutions.
So impeachment is not legal?
That whole “high crimes and misdemeanors” thing is completely, totally political. As it was when Nixon was going to be impeached for obstruction of justice.
That was, in reality, obstruction of politics. Had nothing to do with illegal acts. Which is why Ford’s pardon of Nixon did nothing to protect him from criminal prosecution. Because once Nixon was out of office, the political situation was resolved and the pardon was completely unnecessary, because there was no legal basis for Nixon to worry about.
You really are having a tough time manufacturing a separation between legal and political situations.
They could impeach him for putting ketchup on a hotdog if they had the votes. Who would he be able to appeal that decision to?
Here is my Orange Chimpanzee style 4th of July wish:
Happy 4th of July to everyone, including the racists, teabaggers and losers!
Here is Orange Chimpanzee in 2012 making a birther joke about President Obama on 4th of July. His racist supporters loved it.

Just in case somebody needs to know this, I was just on ESPN’s site and they announced they have the most up to date Cricket information. My holiday is now complete!

Per pool, the president has arrived at Trump Nat’l Golf Club in Virginia at 9:57AM.
This is Trump’s 36th day at a golf course as president.
During the campaign, Orange Chimpanzee used to criticize President Obama relentlessly for playing golf and yet Orange Chimpanzee has played golf in 36 out of 167 days as president (8- 10 times as much golf as President Obama during the first 170 days).
All Orange Chimpanzee does is play golf, watch Faux News, and yell at TV. What a racist clown!
I guess like father, like son. Father Fred Trump was arrested at a KKK rally in Jamaica Heights, NY in 1927. He was in full KKK hood and had to de-robed at the police station before being released.

Don’t feed the troll. It’s probably Jeff anyway. Hence you can’t block it as is so richly deserved.
“Because it’s a disgrace to the encased meat.” – Jeff
Look, I am all for NC-17 (no catsup after 17) but this is probably the weakest argument I have ever seen against ketchup on a hotdog. If the meat were of higher quality it wouldn’t be pulverized and encased to begin with.
Closet fascist?? Imagine telling people what they can and can’t have on their hotdog.
I thought there was a world war fought over that kind of thing.
Ketchup and mustard. My dog. Get bent.
Bruce Lee ate ketchup. Probably.
Yeah, and Chuck Norris too!
I don’t put ketchup on a hot dog and totally agree with ya. If someone told me that in person I’d put some on just to fuck with them.
to each his own. beside if people listened to others bitch on what you could put on food, we would have a pretty bland options.
Yes, I, former Chicagoan, have put ketchup on a hot dog.
I also like steak sauce on my steak.
I DON’T care for ketchup on my eggs but if you do, that’s OK.
Much ado about nothing.
is ketchup and steak sauce why you are a “former” Chicagoan?
WINTER is why.
I’m guessing a really harsh winter would probably do you in Al. At least judging by how much “softer” I’ve gotten about winter since I moved to a temperate climate. If I never saw snow and ice on the roads for the rest of my life I would be happy as hell.
Ew. Driving in winter.
Once I got my driver’s license, winter lost all it’s romance for me.
My Dad hated Chicago winters, too.
Also 4 years of standing on Congress Line El platforms commuting to UIC in the dead of winter was an influence.
The winters only seem to have gotten worse since I left.
Tornados. Don’t miss those, either.
I once, stupidly. thought I eventually work my way back to the midwest. Still tons of close family and friends there but I’ve been out here almost twice as long as I was back there.
I’m gone, for good.
Also gainful employment in my field.
Beware “The Food Police”. A division of “The Thought Police”.
I put ketchup on my hot dog. I think it’s hilarious that people, many on here even, have a problem with that.
I don’t care. I like ketchup. Sue me.
there are worse things to have a problem with than ketchup on a hot dog. Like those sacrilegious bastards that eat steaks drenched in steak sauce.
And even WORSE, order them cooked any more than rare!
ouch thats rough. I am one of those bastards that need it cooked slightly more than rare.
My brother was on R & R from Viet Nam back in the day. He was with a buddy from Montana and they were somewhere in Japan at a steak house. When the waiter asked my brother’s friend how he wanted his steak he replied, “Lop off it’s horns, wipe it’s ass and drag it in here.” My brother said the waiter was confused!
Odd, the Japanese don’t generally have a problem with serving uncooked food.
Pretty sure it was the way he ordered it that was the problem. BTW, do you try to kill all humor by being so literal?
Its hard to deadpan in text.
he’s a lawyer, do you actually expect anything else from him?
I’ve got two lawyers in the family and they are both funny as hell.
I don’t know many lawyers. The ones I do seem to be assholes. BTW, my favorite is when someone writes a fairly innocuous post and Will goes on a 20-30 line diatribe that is almost not related to original post.
what about well done with ketchup?
With a bun, two slices of cheese and a little relish.
You are the anti-christ!
Jefe thinks this is the best film ever made. Perhaps only Jefe, and that’s fine.

His tweets in response to the latest test alarmed some North Korea experts. Laura Rosenberger, a former State Department official, said: “Picking a Twitter fight with a nuclear-armed dictator is not wise –
this is not reality TV anymore. “Trump is playing with fire here – nuclear fire. He could literally get us in to a war with his tweets.”
That fits. Imagine the next World War was started by a tweet!
Yeah. It’s definitely the tweets that are the problem. Not that crazy little fucker that’s testing missiles every other day. You know, the one that’s been banned from having toys such as this by the world
As Trump said, China needs to put a heavy move on North Korea…need to move in on her like a bitch.
CNN doxxed and is threatening to reveal the name of the person that created the CNN logo gif if he steps out of line again. And they want us to believe they protect us from tyranny…
What is wrong with you? The guy is inciting anti-semitic hate.
some gun nut will think it his patriotic duty to mete out “justice” to all these people with “Sheriff’s badge”. Put yourself in shoes of those CNN employees having to fear for their lives just because they happen to work at CNN.
Cool your teabags, bud.
That would hold water if the severed head of the President was not an incitement, and merely free speech to this crowded. The CNN gif isn’t even risque for a political cartoon. Its time for you to untuck your ball sack. The right has 200 million of the 300 million guns in circulation, if we were as violent as the left you would know about it. But it seems to be only Bernie Bros and antifra that want to hurt/kill people for political reasons.
Although, I am sure the aspies that run anonymous are going to take a dim view at this kind of intimidation. It should be fun to see what they come up with in response.
Han Asshole Solo did a meme showing the CNN staff all with Jewish stars:
Check this out for a good laugh..” the only bloodshed came when a lone militia group member accidentally shot himself in the leg.”
The right wing gun nut who shot himself reminds me of Cheddar Bob character from 8 mile. And these yokels are going to lead the revolution? They are just men with small dicks over compensating with big guns and violent fantasies.
Guns And KKK Members At Gettysburg Confederate Rally, But No Foes To Fight
GETTYSBURG, Pa. ― A few hundred armed militia group members, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Ku Klux Klaners, supporters of Orange Chimpanzee, and other self-described patriots descended upon the Gettysburg battlefield Saturday to defend the site’s Confederate symbols from phantom activists with the violent far-left group Antifa.
Some carried semi-automatic rifles ― permitted in Pennsylvania ― as they peered out across the battlefield with binoculars, on the lookout for the black-clad, face-masked anti-fascists, anarchists and socialists they said they had heard were traveling to the national park to dishonor Confederate graves, monuments and flags.
Although many came expecting violence ― even after Antifa made it clear its adherents never planned to show up ― the only bloodshed came when a lone militia group member accidentally shot himself in the leg.
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored.
Here’s a good story about retired athletes. Interesting with a few laughs.
Han Asshole Solo was not threatened or dox blackmailed in any way by CNN, by his own admission.
He is a 47 year old Tennessee man who claims trolling is an addiction for him.
FreeDumb – it’s a helluva drug.
All blackmailers are clean about their intentions.
It’s all fun and games being an anonymous racist until you’re not anonymous anymore.
Jared Sexton, who is Jewish and works for HuffPo, is the guy who found his real name. Not CNN.
And when he tweeted about the guy, he was slammed under a wave of death threats by other like minded anonymous racists and anti-semites.
Not surprised. I love how cowardly racists are once they are no longer anonymous and get singled out.
The gif that got him investigated wasn’t racist. There should have been no reason to investigate that gif unless the goal was to attack the person that made it.
Why go after that guy and not this guy
Oh wait, that was printed in a liberal newspaper, so its a valid expression of free speech, best to go after some rando on the internet for exercising rights reserved for big corporations.
Doesn’t change the fact that the guy was a racist asshole that got exposed. I don’t give a fuck what his politics are, racists should be exposed at every chance.
What are you talking about? There are no racists in america.
There are racists everywhere. No group has a lock on that one.
If somebody draws attention to themselves, or has somebody draw attention to them, they should be thoroughly investigated, and if racists that should be exposed? What ill deeds aren’t worth exposing and which are?
