Five Thoughts on the 1943 Offense The Bears Ran Sunday

| October 23rd, 2017

Watching the Bears beat the Panthers a second time was not much more entertaining than watching them do it the first time. But I wanted to focus on the offensive snaps. Here’s what I thought:

  • Trubisky was hard on himself in the postgame presser but he only made three mistakes in the game: taking the sack before the Barth missed FG, overthrowing Zach Miller and the delay of game in the fourth quarter. Could he have taken a few shots when the pocket collapsed around him? Sure. But why would he in a game the defense was dominating.
  • I’m sure other franchises have done it but I’ve never seen a team so relentlessly run the ball into 8 and often 9-man fronts. The plays are only mildly successful (if that) because Jordan Howard is one of the toughest runners in the league. He gets every inch out of every carry.
  • Kendall Wright played 8 snaps Sunday. Reminder: he is the best wide receiver on the team by a wide margin.
  • Trubisky’s back shoulder fade to Cohen early was an absolutely perfect throw. It literally hit Cohen on his back shoulder. If Cohen catches the ball, he’s got a strong chance to take it to the house.
  • Is there a chance these conservative game plans were specifically designed for Baltimore and Carolina – two solid defenses? Is it possible these two games were early run calls setting up a more explosive approach in the weeks to come? Am I only dreaming?

But first, can we talk about the biggest story from Sunday – zero botched snaps from our center.

    • Bear Instincts

      the slump is over…i hope

      • Irish Sweetness

Dunno, I have NO and PHI as losses. Can’t win ’em all. We’re not that team from the ‘before’ time.

        • Martin Wright

I don’t think NO is a loss, but they are playing just like Chicago right now, exceeding expectations and getting better each week, hey, it’ll be a hell of a game!!

    • Irish Sweetness

      Hey!! Right?

    • How many shotgun snaps were there though?

      • evantonio

glass half empty kind of guy, huh?

    • Scharfinator

Good point! This is one of those situations where you stop noticing because it is working well.

    • Martin Wright

Not many chances tho, I hate to see next time we’re in the gun what he does….

  • Irish Sweetness

Top marks and a beer for that Thread-title Jeff. Bravo.

I forgot about Tarik’s drop, that could have gone. He goes, he does.

Didn’t see the Miller throw ….

This boy could really go off on the trip of a lifetime with the right kind of coach.

  • Irish Sweetness

Ah fack, Jeff-on-the-spot with the content …. so from the last thread :

How do we beat the current version of Drew Brees?

    • Bear Instincts

      blitz. blitz. blitz. blitz

    • Martin Wright

Blitz and remember, he doesn’t have premium receivers so I trust our secondary to provide a few coverage sacks as well

    • Martin Wright

One thing I think Fangio will do is force front seven to maintain their lanes. Brees is short and cant throw it over the line, he relies on “passing lanes” no secret, so I think we have the personel for it, more 5 man fronts tho, no 3 man fronts or he’ll shred you

  • Sactowns#1

Gomer is going to have to show me a LOT more this season before I’m willing to cut Pace any slack for that draft. He is sooooo slow to make reads. He is soooooo slow to make a decision and thus takes sacks. That pass to Cohen was underthrown and should have been an easy TD. It aint looking good so far.

    • SC Dave

I think everyone agreed that Mitch needed more work than pretty much all of the other QBs. The long pass to Cohen *was* underthrown, and MT said so in his presser.

Jeff just called the other pass to Cohen an “absolutely perfect” throw. But QB and receiver have to be on the same page with the intent. Whether that is on Cohen or MT is unknown – they are both rookies and so either is equally plausible. It could be that Cohen didn’t look back shoulder, or that Mitch was not supposed to throw it there.

However, looking at the play *objectively* instead of with an eye to propping up a rookie you hope can throw the ball, Tarik had his man beaten down the sideline. Throw that ball three more yards down field and Cohen runs under it for big gain – he beats the safety further downfield and it’s a 64 yard TD.

And yes Jeff, I watched the play again. Six or seven times, and it always looks exactly that.

      • Sactowns#1

I was actually speaking about the streak down the middle of the field where Tarik had to come back for the ball, then avoid a defender and try to get up field. But good point. The ball was underthrown on both plays.

        • willbest

Isn’t that more about understanding the individual players. Jeffery would have like 12 more TDs if he wasn’t being under thrown while he was here.

          • SC Dave

Probably. They are new to each other. I’m not complaining that they are not fully on the same page yet. I was disagreeing with calling it “absolutely perfect”.

          • willbest

There is no reasoning with Jeff.

          • Irish Sweetness

No he wouldn’t Will. He has Carson Wentz now and he’s not getting it done. Those that wanted to pay him 18M dollars will just follow their narrative.

          • CanadaBear

Name one poster on here that wanted to pay AJ $18 mil.

          • willbest

Carson Wentz #1 target is the tight end. That is the way that offense is run. Jeffery is the 2A or 2B guy on that team. In that role he is doing fine.

        • SC Dave

I know. Mitch was talking about the 70 yard play in his presser, saying he underthrew or Tarik could have “walked” it in.

          • CanadaBear

I liked the way Fouts described it, “threw it up there so Cohen could make a play on it”. Much prefer that vs the overthrow. I don’t understand why people seem pissed because MT is so raw or the people that get worked up because you aren’t 100% on board. Sheesh! Let the young man develop.

          • Martin Wright

Ya, a lot of people aren’t happy because he isn’t making Rodgers throws or Brady reads out there. This kid has 3 things you CANNOT teach anyone. Accuracy, Mobility and Accuracy ON the run. He can make all the throws, they are just teaching him to read right now, and ALL the greats had to learn that!

      • Irish Sweetness

Are we talking about the pass that Cohen CAUGHT? HE had to underthrow it to allow Cohen his route-break. And he caught the ball and we got 70 yards, so I’d say it was perfect.

IF it’s the drop, I retract.

Are we really taking him to task about an underthrow? ??

        Brian. Hoyer.

        • Martin Wright

It was a little under thrown, but that was the spot it needed to be, any further and its right in the crunch zone of the 2 safties converging, he essentially threw him open.

      • Martin Wright

3rd game guys, just relax a little. first things he sees is 3 top 10 Ds….. let’s watch the rest of the season or at least the next 4 weeks play out first, and remember, we ARE winning…. even through all of this rebuilding and experience crap, not many teams can say that

    • Irish Sweetness

So now we’re shitting on him for taking sacks? Isn’t that what we wished Cutty would have done.

The poor kid can’t win with fans.

  • willbest

Why is the thought that Fox is deliberately kneecapping the offense? Like what purpose would that serve? We have seen Loggains/Fox run a better offense last year. So really you are left with they aren’t liking what they see in practice as the Occam’s Razor. The alternative would be Fox is trying to get fired, and Pace just stacked the Defense with too much talent for them to properly suck.

Look Trubisky, has a bunch of tools, but he isn’t NFL ready (assuming you are watching the same games I am). He probably will be. I haven’t seen anything to make me believe he won’t take a sophomore step like Wentz. But he isn’t there yet.

Oh and for all the complaints about all his passes are in obvious passing situation, at least it is really valuable experience. Its really the most important skill a QB can have. Best to develop it in a low pressure year.

Speaking about Pace, I often wonder what the hell he is doing, and I was pretty vocal about hating his defensive FA pickups when there was premium talent available and we had mad cash. But he earns major kudos for putting this unit together. Lets hope WR doesn’t end up being his Achilles heel though.

    • BearDown100393

As raw as Trubisky might be, he is clearly better than Giraffe. You will have to ask Pace what he was thinking when signing him as a free agent.

And while you are at it, ask Pace about Kev White’s future as well.

      • Bear Instincts

I’m starting to believe that Pace honestly thought Giraffe Gaff would be a good to great manger. I think the saw someone who cold be like Alex Smith. That would have allowed him time to get MT10 ready for the league. Its the only think that makes sense outside of the draft smokescreen theory.

K.White is a bust unless he can pull of a resurgence like K.Fuller is doing this year.

      • Martin Wright

No body is 100% on acquisitions. I was in favor of Giraffe in the off season merely because he was the best option available, but the contract was well designed. He wanted Biscuit all along but there are no guarantees in the draft unless you pick first overall….

    • Irish Sweetness

How can you say he’s not NFL-ready when he throws 7 passes in OBVIOUS passing situations?

Was he intercepted even under such conditions?

He has made passes that most QBs in the league can’t make. He throws with incredible accuracy on the run, and in PS his debut was perfect in my opinion – every pass where it needed to be, regardless of whether or not it was caught.

      • willbest

You just aren’t watching the same games I am. He takes to long to go through his progressions and he would have thrown 3-4 more TD’s in his 3 starts if he were as accurate at Kirk Cousins or Alex Smith let alone Drew Brees.

        • Martin Wright

He is just as accurate as those guys if not more so, but come on…. he’s played 12 quarters and even then, been given limited opportunities….. give it a little time

      • Martin Wright

He has the stuff, but the 2 things everyone wanted fixed from earlier in this season were no big plays allowed and no turnovers. They delivered on all of that against the Panthers.

  • It’s all part of the plan

I just watched the replay of the Bears game as couldn’t watch it live. It is completely unacceptable to do what Loggains/Fox did on Sunday regarding the offense. I cannot support that.

I cannot believe that there is not COMPLETE outrage at what transpired with the playcalling and use of personnel.

    • Bull Sheite

Whats the over/under on running plays for the next game Yonny? Hee hee

      • CanadaBear

I like this name a lot better Trac.

        • Bull Sheite

Yup, it was time to step up my game. Lol

I hope everyone here is smart enough to know that my new handle in no way is meant to defame anyone or any group of people.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Yep. The NFL is a pass first, protect at all cost quarteback sports. ALSO, it is a “Lightning in a Bottle” chaos type sports where the regular season gives you many chances to make the playoffs, but the playoff games are elmination games, not series. Teams will say rebuild, but would prefer that if the “Lightning in a bottle” happens to them, then the rebuild almost gets forgotten about anyways.

    • SC Dave

We won the game. By the single truly important measure, they did just fine.

    • Martin Wright

I feel the same way, HOWEVER, what’s the point in pushing him if you don’t have to, they are able to protect him a little while giving him on field experience, nobody ever gets to do that. I am as tired of you as seeing media and analysts dump all over the Bears or not even acknowledge them , but who cares, this is a young team set to run shit for years to come, learn this year and ruin a few parties while you’re at it, then starting next year, Kill’em all!!

  • CanadaBear

Have some of you guys forgotten Foxy got to the playoffs with Tebow? He was light years worse than MT but Fox managed to squeeze out the W’s.

    • evantonio

Have you forgotten that Marion Barber, not John Fox, got the Broncos to the playoffs that year?

      • CanadaBear

Fair enough and let’s be honest, if not for Denver’s homecourt advantage at 5200 ft, the D doesn’t gas out and lose. The point is still valid. Fox got to the playoffs with Tebow playing super conservative, so you know he has no problem going down that road.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Hahahaha. Yes he did. Yes he did. And then subsequently wandered into a church full of people waving a handgun around.

CTE poster boy if there is such a thing.

      • Irish Sweetness

Or that it was the defense?

  • Scharfinator

Second the Jordan Howard sentiment, that motherfucker is a freight train!

    • Cooper

      Night Train!!!

    • SC Dave

There was a reason I picked this avi after his first start last year.

    • Irish Sweetness

That slows to a halt after 20 yards it has to be said.

  • Malice Halice

U not dreaming! I honestly believe those last 2 games was smoke n mirrors. We got a qb that will place da ball where it needs to be (in motion) I have no doubts on with our capabilities on Offense. We haven’t been forced to put up 21 points yet and I feel NOLA will challenge us but with our D I just don’t see da saints with more than 10 points. This will be Mitchell’s coming out party!

    • WP4Life

NO puts up points so the Bears will be forced to score 20+ to win. This past weekend, we didn’t have to open it up to get the “W”, so why risk it. I don’t care if we have 0 passes as long as we get the W.

      • Irish Sweetness

        Halas :”Practice like you play”

A corollary of that is “play like you play”. We “chose” not to put points on the board?

Fire THAT coach. This is Papa Bear’s team, and we play like Papa John’s.

      • Martin Wright

Agreed, and he is really like a secret weapon, he is a 400 yd guy if you let him, so when we need a good throw or 2 he’s in the holster for this offense. It’s just tough getting him into a rhythm with so few attempts. But shit, they haven’t even let him audible yet. This Offense it running at 30% capacity right now, capable of so much more. it will come, especially with a year under Biscuits belt and a few new weapons next year.

    • Irish Sweetness

When we’re forced to put up 21, they’ll just send the house.

  • D. Hester

Deonte Thompson with 4 catches for 107 yards in his first game with the Bills.
How were the Bills able to use him so effectively, while we weren’t?

    • Cooper

      Devin –

We need you to register with Disqus.

Because you are such a quitter, you may choose not to – but nobody will take you seriously until you do.

      • D. Hester

        Believe me, I’ve tried.
I have yet to receive the “confirmation email” they supposedly sent me a week ago.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

          spam folder

      • Bull Sheite

This is a serious forum? Sorry, my bad, won’t happen again. Hee hee

        • It’s all part of the plan

          Trac…..

          • Bull Sheite

            Lol

          • Irish Sweetness

            “Hee hee”

Fuck me, Trac … what’s up?

    • BearDown100393

The larger question is why was he able to figure out the receiver role instead of you?

      • Bear Instincts

Better question is why he cold not figure it out the WR position while he was wearing the Orange & Navy

        • Irish Sweetness

WTF? Are any of you guys watching us at all? Deonte was our best receiver after Cameron went down. He’s a baller AND a great return man. He was our fastest receiver with the best hands!! Of course when you do anything in PS fans just ignore it.

    • Irish Sweetness

      They threw him the ball?

    • Martin Wright

      Because they had to

  • Bull Sheite

Sounds like the Walter Peyton blue print has resurfaced.

  • BerwynBomber

    Sounds like we lost yesterday.

    • willbest

Offense only scored 3 points so we must have lost.

I don’t know how we beat NO in NO, but if we do and head into the bye at 4-4 I am going to drink the playoff kool-aid.

      • Bear Instincts

The same way we made Cam uncomfortable in the pocket except we stop the 3rd down conversions.

Pray to the higher power that MT10 and the offense 1. don’t give the ball away 2. convert 3rd down to let the Defense rest & 3. score at least 3 TDs

        • Malice Halice

We can and WILL against that D. Hurricane Mitchell is coming!

        • willbest

Panthers converted 6 out of 15 3rd downs. 40%, which is the Bears average, and incidentally ranks them 16th. The best D on 3rd down is the Broncos at 26% followed closely by Minny at 27%. Then it jumps up to 33% in the #3 spot for Philly.

        • SC Dave

1a. The oline decides to block this week

        • Irish Sweetness

Brees is a canny little fucker though. Cam isn’t. You give Drew space to breathe and he’ll cut you up.

      • BerwynBomber

Unless the post-game consensus is that Trubisky is the GOAT heir apparent then it will smell like a loss to Jeff.

NO will be a good test. By no means a great team but they’re playing smart football and start the second best QB we are scheduled to see all year. (Although Wentz is playing like an MFer too.)

  • It’s all part of the plan

I was under the impression that they would put Trubisky in position to utilize his skills and grow as a QB. There were some that said playing Trubisky while Fox and Loggains were on staff would actually a detriment. In my entire life I have never seen this kind of ultra conservative, extreme end of the spectrum reluctance to use professional offensive strategy.
They are acting like Trubisky is a rookie… a rookie with a learning disability and who won a radio call in contest to get a chance to be QB for a day.
Call real plays Fox/Cage you fucking clowns.

  • Bear Instincts

Am I the only one concerned that Fox winning, no matter how ugly might get him an extension into next season and beyond?

    • Cubsnlinux

In Football I would be very careful wanting coaching changes. Letting Trestman go was a no brainer and Lovie got a very long rope to win a championship with elite defenses. I will not throw a fit if Fox and the staff come back if they finish 2017 strongly.

    • SC Dave

If they make the playoffs they SHOULD keep him.

    • Irish Sweetness

      (shrugs)

I want a Lombardi. I could care less who the HC is that gives it to me, but I hope it’s Chucky. He wants it. I’m not so sure Fox isn’t just picking up paychecks.

  • Sactowns#1

I get the conservative play calling but the absence of the play action pass is glaring. Is it not in Mitch’s repertoire? Why else would it suddenly disappear from the playbook?

    • willbest

I don’t have season pass or whatever its called, so I haven’t gone and checked, but it has felt like a glaring absence.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

It can’t be absent from his repertoire. I’d think it would be one of his strongest plays given his penchant to throw moving to his right.

I would add, they have run it a small handful of times, and his fake is BRUTAL.

      • Sactowns#1

Brutal good or brutally bad? I honestly cant remember seeing it run a single time Sunday.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

I didn’t see it Sunday either. I’m pretty sure it was against Minnesota. And it was terrible.

          • Sactowns#1

Yeah. My guess is it’s much like most of his skills at QB, he hasn’t learned them yet.

          • SC Dave

It looks more and more that way.

    • SC Dave

Play action passes work when you run block. The Bears have been about 50/50 on that in games this year.

  • Malice Halice

Any of u fellas been to da haunted prison in Statesville? I’m goin this weekend wit my lady.

    • CanadaBear

Not me. Went through Alcatraz once (and spent a night or two in the old Gray Bar Hotel).

      • Malice Halice

I’m gonna look up gray bar. But wow, I didn’t know Alcatraz was a tour site. Was it a Halloween theme or just a tour?

        • CanadaBear

Just a tour. I think they still have them. The old Gray Bar Hotel was the local jail. And it wasn’t a tour either time. Oops.

          • Malice Halice

            Savage!

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Which one? Your wife or the big Redbone?

  • Malice Halice

Y’all heard about our “could’ve been” Malik Hooker? OUCH!

    • willbest

Pace knows safeties. Eddie Jackson looks like a long term starter as a rookie, and Amos is at worst a solid backup. Bush and DHC are whatever but if you are hitting 50% in the 4th-5th round at a position then its clearly in your wheelhouse

      • Malice Halice

Yep, Folks said Eddie was a steal during da draft, definitely looks like it now.

        • That Guy

This draft is looking like a franchise-defining draft. QB of the future, human joystick, a real FS, and if they ever remember he’s on the roster, baby Gronk.

Makes you wonder who Pace would’ve pulled out of his hat if he had a 3rd rounder.

          • Irish Sweetness

Whoa. Adam Shaheen. Second rounder. Let’s see about that.

      • Irish Sweetness

        Demps?

        • willbest

          Not drafted

    • Bender McLugh

Eddie Jackson the healthy version of Malik. Pace is lucky & smart, who knew?

      • Irish Sweetness

Malik is a tall dude, no?

    • willbest

Just like with Adams though, he doesn’t necessarily tear his ACL playing for us.

      • SC Dave

You actually wrote that, didn’t you?

Think of our recent injury history, will. Geez, man. He probably would have torn his damn neck and had his head roll off.

        • willbest

Eddie is still alive. *knocks on wood*

  • EnderWiggin

I have a theory on the abysmal play calling:
It wasn’t the game plan. As soon as Fox goes up 7 points (or 14!), he erased every play they practiced this week off the chart. Just run the previous game plays. HB dive, HB dive, pass. More specifically; HB dive, HB dive, pass from the pocket.
    This accomplishes two things:
    1) We’ll get two weeks of practice for our 3rd down/red zone packages that the Saints have never seen.
    2) Biscuit gets much needed practice with guys like Peppers collapsing the pocket every 3rd down. “Stay in the pocket, go through your reads, throw it out of bounds or even take a sack. No turnovers.”

I think Fox is smirking, knowing that Peyton has to watch Biscuit run the same plays vs the Panthers that Glennon ran week 1-4.

    • Bender McLugh

      This would be best case

    • willbest

If Fox had that level of awareness I would be thoroughly impressed.

I think it was more along the lines of once he got up 2 scores though he decided he wasn’t going to let the offense do anything that might fuck it up.

Your two points are nice bonuses though.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

      Pass that cup around.

      • SC Dave

It’s a lot less out there than the stuff the potheads have been putting out here.

      • Bull Sheite

        Hahaha…. I love it.

    • Irish Sweetness

Sound stuff, Ender. I think some of us over-reacted on gameday. They’re not showing the Saints our playbook. I like it. Really we were never in danger of losing that game.

  • BuddhaJoe

I just don’t get saying Trubs is ready then than having him on such a short leash. 7 pass attempts is ludicrous, especially when you’d rather run Howard into a wall over and over instead.

    • SC Dave

I don’t think they thought Trubisky was ready.

It’s just that Glennon was *so* bad that their hand was forced.

  • Bender McLugh

Just binge watched the first season of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, man it’s really good highly recommend

    • Malice Halice

      What network is this?

      • beninnorcal

        BBC, apparently

      • Bender McLugh

        Bbc America

  • beninnorcal

Hmm, I’m not sure I feel the same way about that back shoulder throw to Coen early on. Had the db simply turned his head, he could have come up with an easy pick. Just my thoughts.

    • SC Dave

Never mind the fact that if MT had thrown it two to three yards further, Cohen would have ran run under it for a trip to the house. He was already past the defender and had not yet used his burst.

  • BerwynBomber

Potentially excellent MNF game. Hope It delivers.

  • Malice Halice

Wentz is a tank. Wont last long he keep playing reckless. See: Robert Griffith

    • BerwynBomber

Wentz will be fine. He’s 6’5″ 235 and knows how to slide. My guess is he has some Favre DNA in him in terms of gamer attitude and durability.

      • Malice Halice

woah! He looks smaller on tv, yea he should be good. Last week I saw him drop his shoulder on a DB tho. Shit was crazy

        • BerwynBomber

Yeah, the CAR game. That, indeed, was stupid. But he’s a kid. I think he’ll learn.

          • Malice Halice

He was probably more sore in the area than usual

      • KentuckyBearsFan

Does Favre DNA require taking multiple shots before work?

  • BerwynBomber

Decent game. WAS was arguably the better team until the last five minutes of the second quarter.

  • Malice Halice

Just to think the browns let this kid pass by….

    • BerwynBomber

      … and drafted Manziel …

      • Malice Halice

I swear they should lose one of them 1st round picks to a lottery. They drafting strategy is horrible. Multiple seasons with maybe 3 wins n they draft Myles Garret over Mitchell, Deshaun n Patrick. That’s just last year.

        • willbest

Garrett is supposed to be the next Peppers/Watt. Its hard to say no to that over a guy with 13 starts, and a smaller guy that relied on his legs and stood a good chance to get crushed on the NFL level.

          • Malice Halice

I understand bpa, but when you’re lacking a field general that’s all that matters. I’d take Cam Newton over Reggie White anyday.

          • Irish Sweetness

            Wow.

    • willbest

      They also traded Watson away.

      • Malice Halice

It’s baffling! I appreciate Pace jump more n more each time I see the browns falter this year. Mitchell is nowhere comparable to Watson yet on da stats but we all know Mitchell is better. But I can’t IMAGINE what da Browns fans are going thru. I’ve definitely come to da conclusion we AINT da new browns!

        • willbest

          We know mitch is better?

He might present as the better pocket passer on paper before the draft. But I don’t know how you look at how each has performed in the NFL and thought mitch is better.

Watson, is putting together a Russell Wilson like rookie season. He is averaging 7.2 yards a carry, and rocking a 100 PR.

          • Malice Halice

I’ll ALWAYS believe in Mitchell. Watson hasn’t played da Bears yet, that’s all.

          • KentuckyBearsFan

Watson’s passing occupancy is not stellar.

          • SC Dave

He’s just silly about it, will.

          • BuddhaJoe

Watson is better right now, but I think his ceiling is lower than Trubs. Plus he actually has people to throw to and an offensive minded coach.

Really not fair to compare the two at this point.

        • Irish Sweetness

Whoa Nelly. Have you seen Watson’s stats ….? Hold the front page on that one, man.

          • Malice Halice

I hear ya! I’m just predicting da future dats all.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Yeah, but other than THAT….

  • BerwynBomber

    What a play by Wentz.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Heard tonight on Sirius:

Eagles play-by-play man: “Jeffrey wasn’t running full speed because he didn’t think the pass was coming to him.”

Redskins color man, Chris Cooley: “17’s (Jeffrey) a stiff.”

    • BerwynBomber

Unlikely he will be on the Iggles next year.

      • AlbertInTucson

        He wanted #1 money

He is certainly not #1 as an Eagle.

        Or even #2.

He is clearly behind Ertz and Agholor in Phillie.

    • Irish Sweetness

Those that wanted to pay AJ 18 million dollars please stand up!

  • BerwynBomber

Cousins has really impressed me this year. I’ve been a skeptic. I’m still a skeptic (if less so). But he lost McVay, Jackson and Garcon and has kept it going.

Earning that huge contract that awaits him.

  • BerwynBomber

The Carson Wentz Show. Something else.

  • BerwynBomber

Ballgame. PHI looks like the class of the NFC though they suffered some key injuries tonight.

Wonder if Wentz will have the career that Rodgers should have had if the Cheese weren’t an incestuous, backward-thinking organization more worried about job security than winning championships.

PHI looks like they know what they’re doing. Need to see if they’re hitting on draft picks (other than Wentz).

    • AlbertInTucson

The Jason Peters injury did NOT look good.

  • BerwynBomber

“DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog Everyone relishes picking on Browns for passing on all these QBs. I just feel awful for their fans. They’ve been through hell.”

Cry me a river. Save NE, all teams go through some version of hell.

CLE has been poorly run and frankly they used a national guilt/smear campaign to get their franchise back. Don’t know if I necessarily wish them ill but fuck them all the same.

  • Martin Wright

Just like most, I get frustrated with the lack of even any attempts by the offense, but in the long term scheme of things, this is about learning to win, and the original plan was to have this kid sit for a year and learn. This is even better! this is the “on field” version of protecting him while he learns, and he gets to run the show… he’ll be 2 steps ahead next year instead of just one….. Just please don’t wear out the defense in the process. give them SOME rest.

  • MrBearsox02 .
