  • The Reverend returns!
  • I’m involved.

Have a happy Memorial Day, one and all. No new content (barring some unforeseen shit) until middle of next week as I will be on the road!

“That’s always gonna happen to a guy starting for first time in NFL.
Doesn’t mean you bail out. Peyton threw a million INTs as a rookie.” – Jeff

Yes its always good to start your analysis with the best regular season QB ever.

    • BearDown100393

Mitch is starting off with a better team than Manning.

Mitch Trubisky is the chosen one.

    • Irish Sweetness

If you’re the “the best regular season QB ever”, the corollary is …?

  • King of DBB
    • CanadaBear

I liked the one with Damien and the one with the Addams Family.

      • willbest

I liked the Addams family too, and there are few more that merit a chuckle. But Time has a pretty good public service announcement on these sort of event photos and how they come about.

        http://time.com/4792245/pope-francis-donald-trump-viral-photo/

        • CanadaBear

My only question about the photo is the ladies only experience with the Catholic religion at Italian funerals?

          • willbest

Its protocol for women meeting the pope in the Vatican is to wear black dresses with sleeves. WP has a take down on it, including a photo of Michelle O dressed in the same fashion.

            https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2017/05/24/why-melania-trump-wore-a-head-covering-in-rome-but-not-in-saudi-arabia/?utm_term=.ce88ab665638

Basically, its his House, so following his rules. When Michelle Obama met the pope in the US she wore whatever her team felt was appropriate (I blue dress and jacket).

The Saudis didn’t request Melania cover her head, so she didn’t there. It is fascinating to watch people apply their filters to what is nothing more than standard diplomatic protocol. “Oh look at Melania not covering up in Saudi Arabia, not relenting to those *savages* and showing deference to the church of our savior”. “Oh look at that classless Melania disrespecting other cultures by not covering her head Michelle did”

          • CanadaBear

I get that but those veils were like WTF?

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

the veils are part of the dress code when meeting privately with the Pope.

          • willbest

I think what CB is trying to say is that he has a queer eye when it comes to veils.

          • CanadaBear

I think you’re on the wrong path.

          • CanadaBear

How did I not know that?

          • DaCoaches Mustache

            fuck the pope

          • CanadaBear

YIKES! I’m an atheist (and recovering catholic) and even I don’t go there! Esp since this pope seems like the first one in a long while that actually wants to help the poor. Other than that, I’m with ya all the way when it comes to religion.

    • BearDown100393

      Jude Law would out-trump 45.

      • Irish Sweetness

The Young Pope … see that?

        • BearDown100393

          Yep

  • Bender McLugh

Jahns on Shaheen: “he is ENORMOUS. He is the biggest sonofagun on the field.” I am excited for this kid, big time.

  • CRAZYBEARNORTH48

I hear Victor Cruz signed one year deal with the Bears today ….
    More the merry

    • Bender McLugh

guess we’ll see how flat those tires really are

    • BearDown100393

He chose to honorably die in Chicago as per Moose’s proclamation.

      • Bender McLugh

        too soon!

    • Sactowns#1

Could be a rebirth or a slow and painful death. Cruz embodies the circle of life so I will call him Simba. haha

      • CRAZYBEARNORTH48

I just hope with all these comeback players that one or two can find there old form an be a gem for a couple years. .about time we get a fucking break. ..

    • Irish Sweetness

      http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000811353/article/victor-cruz-agrees-to-oneyear-contract-with-bears

      AND Reuben Randle!!

Did I call that or what?

Now we DEFINITELY have the best WR corps we’ve ever had. A running back. A semi-decent interior line. This shit is ON.

Kevin White will be lucky to make the team.

      • CanadaBear

        They don’t have a a #1 WR. Maybe a #2 and a bunch of reclamation projects.

        • Meredith is a #2 (when he catches it), everyone else is Royal territory, though perhaps with more upside. This also follows the Saints blue print as they never did have a top #10 WR.

Pace seems to have adopted my poon model.

Hit the 6s, cheap, easy, dirty, and replaceable.

          • CanadaBear

Unlike your poon model, Pace drops down much lower than 6’s.

          • That’s true. Though from time to time, he also seems to move up like with Sitton, Hicks, McPhee?

          • CanadaBear

He’s got more readily available cash than you.

          • This is true.

      • Didn’t Cruz suffer the same inj as Tre?
        Maybe rehab tips

    • leftcoastdave

      Great addition.

  • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

I like this Victor Cruz signing. Don’t care if he makes the roster or not. I hope guys like Cam Meredith, Tanner Gentry pick his brain during OTAs and training camp and become better route runners.

    • SC Dave

I don’t but my opinion does hold much sway at Halas Hall

    • AlbertInTucson

      “Safety in Numbers”…?

Maybe ONE of these injury prone receivers can stay on the field long enough to make an impact.

      • Bender McLugh

Preeeeeecisley. That’s Pace’s MO for everything, and I am down

      • willbest

You tend not to roster more than 6 WRs though.

        • AlbertInTucson

Sure, but you KNOW somebody breaks down before the regular season starts.

    • BerwynBomber

I liked it too but his badmouthing his former team by saying they were intentionally keeping his numbers down gives me pause.

“Truth tellers” like that are often good for clicks but bad for the lockerroom. But oh well, not like Cruz will be around here the next five years.

      • willbest

Cruz probably would have had more work but that Shepard kid they got seems like the real deal.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Tanner Who?

      Here are your five receivers:

Cam, Kendall, Markus, Vic, Reuben. You maybe carry one more.

And we can bring on Tarik. Dayum.

      • BearDown100393

“DBB Weekend Show: A Shit Ton of Adam Jahns Edition!”

    A “Shit Ton”.

    SMH.

    • CanadaBear

We might not be the exact demographic he’s looking for on this blog.

      • AlbertInTucson

        I understand.

        Whiny old fogey complaint.

        Guilty as charged.

Becoming more so on a daily basis but…

RAISE the bar, for a change, please.

        • CanadaBear

I hear ya! It doesn’t bother me at all but unlike you, I swear like a drunken sailor on here.

          • AlbertInTucson

I make it a point to try and use the other words but I’m no angel because I really dislike how casual I have become about using them, verbally.

          • willbest

It goes in cycles. My kid was all “Father, if it would please you, could I have some more asparagus” and I had to smack the shit out of him for talking like an aristocrat.

          • AlbertInTucson

Is a “Shit Ton” more or less than a metric ton?

          • willbest

Well a metric ton is ~1.1 imperial tons. And shit ton is an imperial unit of measure (not to be confused with fuck ton which is in the metric system). A shit ton is hard to define but it is considerably more than 1.1 tons. As to whether a shit ton is heavier than a fuckton, well that depends on whichever King’s shit was being used as a baseline when we decided to standardize the whole thing.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Now, my brain hurts.

          • Irish Sweetness

I’ll see your standard weights and measures conundrum, and raise you atoms behaving as waves, until you look at them, and then they behave like particles.

          • AlbertInTucson

            Ow, ow, OW!

          • SC Dave

            … *may* I have some more…

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

so disappointed Jeff dissing the future HOFer BRAVERMAN!!!

    • Bender McLugh

It’s he still on the roster?

“This is a congressman telling CNN where to run a retraction THAT DOES
NOT EXIST. Have we really grown to tolerate lying to this degree?” – Jeff

Is Jeff 12 or something? He isn’t even complaining about a lie people are going to remember a week from now.

“Read my lips no new taxes” – Bush I
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman” – Clinton
“There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.” – Dick Cheney, Rice, Powell, etc (Bush himself I don’t think ever stated it as fact the way the others did opting to always say ‘intelligence sources’ but the genesis of the lie is on him)
“If you like your health insurance you can keep your health insurance” – Obama

You can respect Clinton’s infamous lie though. You gotta go that route in that specific situation.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g5Hz17C4is

    • AlbertInTucson

“Deny, deny deny!” – Robert Morse, A GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MAN (1967).

The Joey Bishop / Jayne Mansfield / Ann Morgan-Guilbert vignette.

    • Sactowns#1

Hmmm… Trump has so many memorable lies, which shold we chose? “Nobody will lose health insurance” “I’ll certainly release my taxes” “I’ll destroy ISIS in the first 30 days” I guess when everything you say is a lie it just becomes irrelevant.

      • willbest

“Nobody will lose health insurance” – can’t be a lie because they haven’t done anything to change the system yet

“I’ll certainly release my taxes” – an actual lie

“I’ll destroy ISIS in the first 30 days” – hyperbole. But at least give him credit. He didn’t promise to recede the Oceans and heal the planet. So he isn’t as far gone as the previous megalomaniac we elected.

        • Sactowns#1

Dude, that’s just three off the top of my head. The guy is a pathological liar, most likely suffering from dementia.

          • willbest

No more than you apparently. I clearly demonstrated only 1 of those could be a lie, and yet you insist on telling me there are 3 there.

          • Sactowns#1

            A) Under his proposal people would lose healthcare. Earlier he said under his “fix” nobody would lose healthcare. Whether it has become law or not is irrelevant.
            B) clear lie
            C) His supporters love to claim hyperbole or “he was just joking” whenever he gets caught in yet another lie. It’s fascinating mental gymnastics.

          • willbest

You are going to fit in in Portland.

          • Isn’t Portland the meca of alt-righters bunker militia fanatics?

          • willbest

No, that is East Oregon. Bunker militia fanatics avoid population centers, for obvious reasons.

          • So in Oregon you have “communists” in Portland, and libertarian/anarchists in the sticks.

            What could go wrong…

          • CanadaBear

It’s one of my favorite states. About a half dozen micro climates around the State and my favorite part, the coastline is public.

          • CanadaBear

They are all over the NW. Western Idaho and parts of Montana have pockets of these groups.

          • Just watched a doc called “Ruby Ridge” on Netflix.

            Holy fuck.

Came away thinking the gov entrapped Randy Weaver, then shot his wife and kids cuz they were scared little bitches.

          • CanadaBear

It’s strange to say the least when you get into Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. I love riding bikes in all 5 states and people are almost always super nice to you, just don’t bring up politics!!!!!!!!

    • Bender McLugh

      Shush

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed about respecting Clinton’s. Also, should have only had to tell his wife that one anyway. Definitely fell into the “not your fucking business” category.

      • willbest

Don’t get me wrong. Clinton was a habitual liar. Its just the lie he is the most famous for doesn’t actually affect anybody’s life but Hillary and Chelsea. The other guy’s most famous lies were more relevant to everybody’s day to day.

And that is sort of what I was getting at. The WP smears Sessions (or legitimate journalism if you are Jeff), and this guy defends his colleague. Does that really merit a bridge to far lie?

        • willbest

          my bad. CNN.

        • BerwynBomber

Clinton was George Washington compared to Trump.

In terms of Sessions, he smears himself weekly. Dude’s a loathsome public servant. All WP has to do is adequately report what he up to. But I am not following the WP/Jeff story.

          • willbest

There is no difference between Trump and Clinton in terms of their ability to lie, and their willingness to do so. The effectiveness of a lie however rests in whether it confirms something the listener already wants (or has been primed) to hear. Further, if the truth is something you don’t want to hear, you are less receptive to it.

Whats more, even if you are aware of bias, you are unlikely to adequately compensate for it.

If you go deep into persuasion research, trial tactics (basically jury manipulation), or marketing (consumer manipulation), etc its pretty nuts. We are rapidly approaching jedi mind trick level shenanigans except the people that are doing the research aren’t going to use it for good.

          • BerwynBomber

“There is no difference between Trump and Clinton in terms of their ability to lie, and their willingness to do so.”

            Nonsense.

          • SC Dave

            smh

          • Irish Sweetness

Come on, they’re both despicable cunts.

          • BerwynBomber

            Shove your false equivalency bullshit.

Clinton was a two-term highly successful POTUS. Trump, thus far, has been unmitigated disaster.

          • willbest

What is your metric for success?

          • There are levels of cunt-dom.

Like as much as I think Trump is a opportunistic windbag who pulled one over on them po rust belt voters (how many Goldman Sach and oil tycooons are on his team?) he’s no Hitler or Stalin, and maybe not even Putin.

When a cynic snickers, “They’re all the same” you end up with a Trump (or worse).

          • SC Dave

            Your memory is very short.

    • BearDown100393

Every politician elected to public office lied to get there.

      Except Mitch Trubisky.

      Mitch always tells the truth.

Even when Mitch lies, he tells the truth.

    • leftcoastdave

The left chases its tail with anonymous BS while ignoring the real abuses of power under the Obama administration. The fake news of “Russian meddling” is all they want to drool when real news is suppressed.

“None of those “news” organizations are saying anything about all of the illegal NSA info leaked by Comey’s FBI as CONFIRMED by the FISA court:

“For instance, a ruling declassified this month by
the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) chronicles nearly 10
pages listing hundreds of violations of the FBI’s privacy-protecting
minimization rules that occurred on Comey’s watch.

The behavior the FBI admitted to a FISA judge just last month ranged from illegally
sharing raw intelligence with unauthorized third parties to accessing
intercepted attorney-client privileged communications without proper
oversight the bureau promised was in place years ago.

The court also opined aloud that it fears the violations are more extensive than already disclosed. “The Court is nonetheless concerned about the FBI’s apparent disregard of
minimization rules and whether the FBI is engaging in similar
disclosures of raw Section 702 information that have not been reported,”
      the April 2017 ruling declared.”

    • Sactowns#1

Do you think these people care about America? or anything other than themselves? of course not. So a promise to drop sanctions on Russia in exchange for a few hundred million seems quite possible. What doesn’t seem possible is all of the business ties, personal ties, political ties, all lead to nothing, as Dave somehow thinks. like tump said, he could shoot an innocent person in times square and some people like Dave will still stand by him.

  • willbest

So what you are saying is Trump took a shot at his political adversary?

  • Irish Sweetness

“You can grab them by the pussy.”

  • SC Dave

Well, enjoy the holiday weekend ya’ll. I’m off for five days on the trail – if you don’t hear from me next week, it must be because I got ‘et by a bahr’ or some such.

    Bear down.

    • CanadaBear

Have a great hike and get recharged.

  • Sactowns#1

So what did you guys do to scare off MB?

    • willbest

      We didn’t draft Adams.

    • CanadaBear

I got the impression he has a GF that is a little more than Miss Right Now (even though he wasn’t owning up to it). Between that, picking a QB at #3 and the fact the Bears suck has turned into the perfect storm.

      • willbest

Plus its Summer and he lives in San Diego. When its nice we sit outside with the neighbors drinking on the patio, but this spring has been temperamental. I been trying to fertilize the grass and my schedule and Gaia’s just aren’t jiving at the moment. No wonder people just hire a service.

      • Irish Sweetness

Being in love, that’s it. He’s in love.

        • CanadaBear

I’m not saying he’s going down the aisle but he did mention he had been seeing someone steadily. Anywho, the place isn’t quite the same without him but time marches on.

    • Too much politics, not enough boobs.

We text from time to time. Think he’s just tired of the losing overall. That Trestman shit fire was a gut punch to a lot of fans, and as awful as he was, Fox has a WORSE record.

Couple that with the White bust, drafting Trub and Sasheen over say Thomas and Buddha, Albino Lovie, tough early schedule, and most fans are resigned to suck this season so doooooon’t caarrre.

I think the only bright spot MB sees this offseason is that we finally booted Cargo and Jackson in the 4rth as a sneaky steal.

Like I said when we drafted Trub.

Pace shifted the paradigm on the fans, and many still haven’t adjusted to the new vision or are at best cautiously optimistic (which is hard for a true bears fan shitted on by so many regimes).

      • CanadaBear

If you are a long-time Bears fan you have to be cautiously optimistic (with a fatalistic bent).

        • AlbertInTucson

Do low expectations count as “Cautiously Optimistic”?

          • CanadaBear

Always! I haven’t gotten too cocky about the Bears since the glory days and that didn’t last past the year after the SB. No matter how crappy I think they will be I still want to see for myself.

BTW, a pub close to the house (1.5 miles) got the Sunday ticket and I was talking to the owner. I said the games start at 10 are you going to be open that early on Sunday. He said he hadn’t thought about it but he guessed that was a good idea. We had a couple of laughs over that. He is a fisherman by trade and a Native by birth. The seafood at the pub (spring salmon (chinook), halibut and crab are fresh and tremendous. So happy the place re-opened with great food (esp for a pub). The halibut and chips are divine. If he does open it up early enough and nothing else changes, I will see A LOT of Bears games this year.

          • AlbertInTucson

I LOVE the 10 AM starts. Unfortunately, they only last thru October out here when Standard Time goes back into effect.

          • CanadaBear

Me too. I’m a morning person so the London starts are fine by me (as long as the Bears don’t have to play over there).

  • AlbertInTucson

18 Questions for Bill Belichick at a presser yesterday.

Zero questions about Brady’s Missus saying Tommy played while concussed.

    LOL.

    • CanadaBear

      They’ve been conditioned.

      • AlbertInTucson

        They have been intimidated.

  • Irish Sweetness

I still can’t believe we got Cruz and Randle. Is this a dream?

Do we have the best roster of WRs in the NFL or what?

Trubs coming-out party could be spectacular. Draft another RB, a tackle or two. I smell a SB.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

it is a nightmare. Randle is a head case that can’t run the right routes. Cruz has been injured the last 2 years.

      • AlbertInTucson

        But other than THAT…

        • leftcoastdave

          Dudes with something to prove.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

after last year, give me some guys that can stay on the field.

          • If Cruz is still inj, Pace can just donate his good leg to White midseason transplant.

          • Irish Sweetness

And there are few players in the NFL who don’t ….

      • willbest

In Irish’s world, age is just a number.

        • Irish Sweetness

And Mr. Pace’s evidently. Why would Pace hire Cruz if he was done. That’s not why he was released. Cap casualty. Why would he hire Randle likewise?

The competition will be great. We’ve never had competition at receiver before.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Randle was signed to a “Futures” contract. That basically saying good luck making the roster we doubt you do, just show up to camp and we will think about paying you when the season comes around.

    • BearDown100393

      19-0

    • CanadaBear

Either you’re trolling or your WR evaluations are still askew. They have a #2 in Meredith and a huge pile of #3’s or lower.

      • willbest

Meredith had a very good sophomore season with backup QB’s. He is certainly top 50 with top 25 potential. But if there is one thing Irish loves more than his PSH’s, it is once was productive veterans

        • CanadaBear

I think Meredith has the potential to be a #1 but he’s not there yet. After him, there are a bunch of guys that may or may not pan out. I’ll give Pace credit for trying to make the room better but none of the signings were head turners.

          • Irish Sweetness

He’s been our #1 since he started, he’s a very good player and that’s all that counts. We have a lovely roster of receivers, a veritable bevy of talent. The QBs have no excuses.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

I really wish I had your optimism concerning our WR, it is just a bunch of hopeful wanna be’s, has beens, and never were’s.

Don’t get me wrong I am hopeful they get lucky with some of these guys but I am not counting on it. I view this as the Bears are playing Chicken Shit bingo when it comes to hoping to get decent WRs.

          • CanadaBear

Being #1 for the Bears and being a WR1 are two entirely different things. How the fuck was he a #1 in 2015 with 11 receptions, 120 yds and no TD’s? It’s fine to make shit up but it’s pretty easy to verify.

      • Johnnywad

I’d say lower. Cruz is a body. He’s done.

        • Irish Sweetness

He’s good for the locker room and as a player coach I read.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

for $2 million we could probably hire several WR coaches.

      • Irish Sweetness

#1s are for teams that habve no #3 #4s etc. We have targets everywhere and depth to boot. We can now have injuries at the WR position.

And even if he makes the team, Kevin White will have to be more focused to make everything he can from the few snaps he’ll see. He’s a nice player to have at #5.

        • CanadaBear

I’m going to remind you of that quote over and over again. #1’s are for teams that have no 3’s and 4’s. How does that even make sense? There must 100 guys in the NFL that are 3’s and 4’s and about 10-15 1’s.

    • Wouldn’t you have traded all those WRs we got this offseason for one Terrell Pryor or Alshon?

      • Irish Sweetness

        Trolling right?

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

probably not. we signed a bunch of has beens and never was WRs in hopes to get lucky.

          • I see it as what Pace did last yr with the secondary.
Drafted a bunch of late RDers in hope of one hitting. None of them stood out.

  • CanadaBear
    • The Lovie secondary philo.

Ryan Pace has had three offseasons. Do you think it’s fair to say he hasn’t legitimately addressed the weak secondary? — @BearsEst1920

Thereis a good chance the Bears have four new starters in the secondary this
season. No, the Bears didn’t use a high draft pick on a defensive back this year but they have attempted to sign some top cornerbacks (Janoris Jenkins and Stephon Gilmore)in the last two years and Pace has used four draft picks in the last two years on defensive backs. It’s definitely a position in transition and while it probably isn’t exactly where the team would like it to be yet, I would put a greater focus on the pass rush. It starts up front and with a quality and consistent pass rush, you can mask a lot of things on the back end. – BigMac

Should be noted that Pace also sniffed around Josh Norman (an offer Norman considered disrespectful) , but he considered all too expensive, so obviously he’s not big on bidding in FA for CBs or S.
      …….
      Bears carrying 4 HBs? Doubtful.

Howard, Benny and Cohen are likely the dudes.
I like that Benny can KR, and Cohen can PR.

Once again Carey seems to be the odd man out (and Langford should be all but gone).

I bet the second we cut Carey, the Puke will swoop him up.
      …………..

Why do fans keep bringing up Grasu at C? Have the forgotten how much he sucked, and now has a messed up ACL to boot?

Put Kush-Push in OG, keep Whitehair at C. Done and done.

      ——–

White’s gonna make the team purely on draft status, and a spunky Joe Anderson type who shined all off-season is going to get cut for him, much to the chagrin of Irish and PS connoisseurs

      —————-

Prince, Cooper and Callahan starting 3 CBs. 4rth anyone’s guess, maybe Hall. (or Fuller if not a still a pussy)

And right off the bat gotta cover…Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson and Mike Evans.

      Moses Christ.

      Demps/Amos will be SS,
      Jackson/Hall-or-Qurtay FS

      ————-

BigMac predicts Trub will start in 2017. He never thought much of Glennon though, which is why he predicted Pace goes QB in the 1st.

Also, dips pizza in bacon-bit ranch

      • CanadaBear

I’m OK with him not over bidding for FA’s (at least now), I can see Carey sticking for ST’s. He definitely has the attitude. Because of that they carry 4 HB’s. Carey’s attitude reminds me of Weems. Both of them are feisty as hell and like mixing it up. Every team needs some of those guys. Everyone loves high draft picks until they don’t. This will probably be the year they don’t love Grasu. It’s like all the phantom draft picks automatically translate to good players. Uh, no, Unless White suffers another break or some other horrific injury he’s on the team. If Fuller is not fully engaged this summer he might get launched. The coaches can say what they want now, if the Bears are 1-7 and Trubisky seems to have a handle on the offense, anything can happen.

      • Irish Sweetness

Is Jackson ready to play FS in the NFL? HQJ can’t do it. Like I said during the draft, we fucked up royally not taking a safety higher.

        • This is why loooong ago i thought Buddha would be a good find at the top of the 2nd . But we all knew Pace was going to trade down in the 2nd and skip on value dbacks after getting nationally flogged for the “trade rape” in the 1st.
Cards picked Buddha. He’s instantly their new nickle and should take over Honey Badger down the line.
Fron now on Sasheen will have to have a better career than Buddha (or fill in the Dback) for the trade down to be right, in my book

          • CanadaBear

I think the TE has a chance to be a helluva pick. Let’s hope!

  • At least our small slot WRs aren’t white?

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/27/cowboys-plan-significant-role-for-ryan-switzer/

I was actually hoping we could land Switzer, esp after Trubs. He really impressed me when I was watching NC tape.

Still, a lil odd the Boys drafted him in the 4rth when they so desperately need D upgrade, esp when having Dez and Beasley on board.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

our starting slot WR is white, BRAVERMAN!!!

He gone. Or will be soon. And Kevin will be lucky to make the roster too.

Finally got to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It took pretty much everything I enjoyed about the first movie and dialed it up to 11. Can’t wait for the Infinity War

    • Irish Sweetness

I liked Alien Covenant. Did what it said on the tin. Solid.

Turned off DeNiro as Bernie Madoff-with-the-cash in Wizard of Lies. Zero feelings for a guy like that, so it’s hard to get invested.

Currently watching Brad Pitt in War Machine.

      • Bender McLugh

I liked war machine alot. Based loosely on gen. McChrystal

      • Sactowns#1

I like Alien Covenant but I would say it was the weakest in the series. There are just way too many moves that made little to no sense. I get in the early movies the crew were basically mercenary marines sent by some large corporation so you think the incentive to take risks is there (maybe a big payday if they find something cool). But in this film there is zero reason to take so many risks. After the first captain goes down why would the next guy then put the whole ship (thousands of lives) at risk? And why goes exploring an alien planet without a helmet on?! Overall, enjoyable but highly improbable.
Question- What is the relationship between Ash and David? In the newest film it seems David went rogue and created this new “perfect creature” on his own. In the earlier film Ash references this “perfect creature”. So how did he know about it?

It’s been a while – in fact I took the whole off-season off.

This is a good recent comprehensive look at the subject of aliens visiting Earth, and the mounting evidence that the USA has been preparing the world for a false flag alien attack perpetrated by themselves in Alien Reproduction Vehicles (flying saucers, black boomerangs

    Or not.

A lot of it is from the Disclosure project / Dr. Greer, but some of it is previously unreleased, including military-shot anti-grav footage, Nazi footage of their anti-grav ‘bell’, footage from The French MOD showing them communicating with E.T.s using a laser, in addition to the letter sent by a French Admiral, outlining the French intention to make clear that a peaceful future relationship between planets was desired. And they return to the murder of Marilyn Monroe, who was under FBI surveillance (documents released) for her affairs with JFK and Bobby, the then Attorney General. JFK had been advocating the disclosure of evidence that we were being visited by E.T. and that there were 9 known documented species from our Milky Way alone.

Perhaps the saddest part was the ‘lost century’ of technology. Greer shows the declassified letter that ordered the seizing of papers from Tesla’s safe as soon as he had passed. Zero-point or ‘free energy’ from the vacuum of space (as now confirmed by Quantum Mechanics and the Casimir effect) taken away from mankind. Free energy for all .. .commandeered by the Men in Black.

Anyone familiar with the Madeline McCann case? Kid disappeared years ago in Portugal. Turns out that Clement Freud – British Politician – had a house half a mile away. He was alleged to have sexually abused three children (accused post-mortem) … and actually invited the parents around to his house for dinner.

A bit like Chris Rock’s story of black guys robbing your house, then knocking on your door and saying “Heard you got robbed!”

Freud wasn’t in his home at the time of the kidnapping. Who was?

  • Joecashflow

It’s May….long time of lala land before real football. We didn’t win the SB, we didn’t win the division, in fact we sucked. So I didn’t read y’all posts, but I did just read a bit from the words of Cruz, our latest greatest WR. And I like the attitude. We got this 1st rounder that hasn’t amounted to shit…White. We got some other decent off season drafts or pickup WRs. And we got Cruz. What I hear from Cruz, is a seasoned guy that is willing to pass on his knowledge to younger guys, make the team better. White can’t run a decent route. Has all the speed in the world. He just needs a dude to show him when to apply the breaks and bust a move…..it’s called separation. If Cruz can deliver that to our newbie sprouts, then he is worth his weight in gold. We need fucking separation. I think I gotta go back to my guy Tom Waddle ….just turned 50….to remember separation. It’s a special word. I hope we embrace it, learn routes, and Mr. Cruz can salsa dance all he wants. I for one, think he may just be our secret recipe to a real passing attack. Oh and separation doesn’t mean shit if you can’t stay on the field. So Bear down Bears! Get tough. Stay on the field. Deliver the punishment, don’t take it. It’s all ATTITUDE.

    • CanadaBear

Bellamy got separation constantly last year. Ya gotta catch the ball! White’s biggest issue isn’t the route tree, it’s two major injuries to the same leg that now has a titanium rod in it. HIs speed looked non-existent last year in those 4 games. Counting on Cruz to lift the WR’s seems dubious at best. Hope you’re correct.

      • Joecashflow

Meredeth got separation too or maybe just leaping ability. But you gotta be on the field for at least most the games to develop chemistry and make a difference,

      • AlbertInTucson

That’s what I saw from White, too.

        • CanadaBear

When he was going across the middle on a route it seemed like it was at half speed. I really hope he becomes a good WR (for the Bears sake and his, he seems like a nice guy) but I just don’t see how he’s going to become more than JAG. Hope I’m wrong.

          • AlbertInTucson

I would describe his running last season as “Labored”.

      • Fuller in his limited time liked better than White in his limited time.

        Let that sink in.

        • CanadaBear

Fuller actually had a pretty good half a season his first year. White hasn’t even had a good game. Really hope White steps up this year. Although, if he does, I’ll be the most surprised man in Canada.

      • Bender McLugh

to be fair he was looking faster in the last game before he got injured. I still hope it’s just between the ears and his speediness isn’t completely shot.

        • CanadaBear

Faster is a relative term. I totally agree with ya. You couldn’t blame him if he was tentative last year in those 4 games. He’d better get over that. Hope he’s part of the solution.

    • Irish Sweetness

I’m pumped. We have so many guys to choose from now, the competition should be awesome.

No sympathy for him from me. It’s not in me to feel bad for the super rich, esp when their problems are their own making. Besides all the cheating, he’s super cheap. Not a real attractive quality for someone that is super rich. There was a Canadian doc about his issues and they interviewed a few of the women that he had slept with. One was a waitress at Denny’s. She had a nice figure but she looked and talked like a waitress at Denny’s. He would take her out to the Escalde and bang her. She wasn’t upset at all.

          • AlbertInTucson

Not excusing him, but I bet he is in constant pain and the booze at least dulls the pain.

          • AlbertInTucson

Begs the question: Why does a guy with that kind of money even drive himself?

          • CanadaBear

            Cheap.

          • AlbertInTucson

The forthcoming legal fees would have paid for a helluva lot of rides.

          • CanadaBear

No doubt. But as rich as he is, it’s pocket change. The real problem will be the inconvenience of it (if he obeys the law).

          • willbest

Its probably not that. Though a lot of rich people are notorious cheap.

Sometimes its fun to drive. Some people don’t like to give up that control. Some people like me just don’t like the feeling of somebody knowing that much about us.

When I was in China we paid a guy $40 a day to be our private driver. It felt very weird to me when we were touring a museum or whatever, that he was just chilling in the car waiting for us.

I also get very uncomfortable in very high end restaurants when there are more servers for my table than people dining there. I do enjoy the customary tour of the kitchen to talk to the half dozen chefs assembling food with tweezers though.

          • CanadaBear

I get what you’re saying but he is notoriously cheap. No doubt he would be worried a driver would go to TMZ but if you pay them well enough and treat them well enough, it usually isn’t an issue.

          • AlbertInTucson

            40 a day.

That won’t even get you driver for an hour here, will it?

          • CanadaBear

Probably something to that but self-medicating with booze and driving is a bad, bad thing. If he wasn’t such a lousy person I wouldn’t be so callous.

          • BerwynBomber

Who knows. Maybe as Al believes it was pure meds (though it is a suspicious time of the night for booze not to be involved.) But yeah he looks toasted whatever the concoction.

EDIT: turns out there was no booze involved. So Al was right.

          • CanadaBear

He must have been out partying to be out at 3 AM. Apparently not boozing it up but he’s definitely over the limit on pills. Definitely had a righteous buzz on in that photo.

Lord knows, I’m no Tiger Apologist.

I think the guy is in constant pain.

I recently had to have a nerve zapped in my back because I couldn’t straighten up for 3 months. Pain meds weren’t much good. It took several weeks for the procedure to have a therapeutic effect .

My back sue is basically “Old Guy paying the tab for decades of weekend warrior activity and sliding into bases longer than he should have.

Tiger’s on his 4th back surgery.

One of those “If I had known then what I know now” situations. I try to pass onto very active people in sports that most of the really bad hits to the joints and bones will have a way of reminding you of your past when you get older. Just like me, nobody pays any attention. Hope you find some permanent relief. Pain pills suck ass. Never had many back problems unless I overdid it lifting weights or picked up something heavy without using my legs. Is surgery an option? Or is it a bad option? At least with my knees they finally replaced them. Successful knee surgery has a higher likelihood of a positive outcome. Back surgery seems to be a toss up.

          • AlbertInTucson

I had a procedure called Radio Frequency Ablation.

They zap the offending nerve to get it to settle back down.

All done with needles under a fluoroscope.

            Doesn’t even qualify as “Surgery”.

            Also painless.

I was basically advised, even by my own GP, to “Avoid back surgery like the plague”

The nerve may grow out out again in which case we zap it again.

At least I can stand up straight again and ditch the walker.

Even when at it’s worst. I was fortunate that I could A) Sit comfortanbly and B) Sleep (in a recliner).

          • Sactowns#1

So, Mike Trout, arguably baseball’s best player, is out 6-8 weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb.

He injured the thumb because he insists on diving head first into bases, which is the NFL equivalent of QBs who refuse to slide.

    Idiotic.

It wasn’t even a close play at second base.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed. And his career was off to a historic start. You wonder if that sort of injury will have long-term effect. Never be the same, etc.

Hey, how about the Sox? They’re feisty. Goes to show what a professional manager can do. And I don’t even think Renteria is all that just that Ventura was such a joke. Only bad thing is they would probably be better off losing in order to trade, build their farm system and move up in the draft.

      • CanadaBear

I liked Renteria the year he was with the Cubs. He definitely got the shaft from them but did get a 2-year paid vacation. I thought he struck just the right tone with the young Cubs. Always upbeat but hold the players responsible if they screw up.

        • Johnnywad

God Damn. I could really use a two year paid vacation.

At least the Angels don’t really look like they were contending this year, unlike Cutler who pissed away a Lombardi Trophy chasing down his own INT.

    • SC Dave

Arguably, but not. Clayton Kershaw is the best player in baseball.

Compare his career to Sandy Koufax.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Apples to Oranges.

A guy who appears every 5th day for 7 innings cannot be baseball’s best.

Plus, when it comes to starts and complete games, Koufax blows Kershaw away.

Kershaw has 24 career complete games.

Koufax had 27 in his final season, alone.

        • SC Dave

We’ll disagree. I’d take Kershaw over Trout every single time.

          • CanadaBear

I compare Koufax to Gale Sayers. Careers were nowhere near long enough but when they were in their prime they were head and shoulders above everyone else. I get Kershaw is tremendous but a pitcher, no matter how good they are, isn’t more valuable than a great everyday player. 150 games vs 30.

  • Scharfinator

Odd. 4 QB’s is pretty standard for training camp. I wonder who they are bringing in instead.

      • Elect A Clown. Expect A Circus

Not odd at all. This is not a standard training camp situation for bears. It was difficult to find snaps for Trub let alone Shaw.

Glennon: Role – starter. Will get most first team reps so that he is ready every sunday. This will continue until he totally craps the bed.

Sanchez: Role – primary back up to Glennon and Trub’s first line of defense from being thrown to NFL wolves. Will get some starter reps and most second team repsso that he is ready should Glenon go down. Will also mentor Glennon and Trub on being a qb under spotlight in big media market and teach them through his experience in NY.

Trub: will get all third team reps now that there is no shaw. The first thing he needs to learn is to call out plays in huddle and he will get ample practice running the third team offense. Will get occasional first and second team reps to give Glennon and Sanchze a break.

There are no reps for a Shaw type player anymore on Bears roster.

This was all planned in advance. Shaw was most familiar with Dowell Loggains playbook having played under him at Cleveland and here since last year. That is why Pace kept him on roster through the first set of OTAs… allow Glennon, Sanchez and Trub pick his brain in the meeting room for a couple of weeks and then let him go. Pace knew there were no reps for Shaw once he drafted Trub on April 27. He could have cut him right then. Fans may not agree with Pace on a lot of his moves but does nothing impulsively or without a lot of planning.

        • BearDown100393

          This may need an edit.

He’s not gone apparently. Sanchize is injured. Fell off the bench?

“The Bears on Tuesday announced they had waived the former South Carolina quarterback. By Tuesday evening, that decision had been rescinded, according to reports, after quarterback Mark Sanchez was injured.”

Guy breaks leg. Guy gets cut.

Sanchez falls off bench. Sanchez keeps his job.

Jhajuan Seales loses his job instead.

    Connor returns.

Speaking after Tuesday’s OTA, coach Sean McVay said “whoever we feel like gives us the best chance to win football games” is going to start at quarterback.
“Right now, we feel really good about what they’ve both [Jared Goff and Sean Mannion] done,” McVay continued. “Jared’s done a nice job of getting better, but you always want to make sure you’re playing the guy that you feel like gives you the best ability to win football games. Right now, Jared is the starter.” It was a tepid endorsement from McVay. It’s important to remember that McVay has zero ties to Goff; he didn’t use the No. 1 pick on him, and Mannion has drawn some strong reviews from coaches this offseason. In D.C., McVay was part of the staff that favored fourth-rounder Kirk Cousins over No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III. – Roto

This is exactly why Dowell Loggains is the next Bears head coach once Foxy’s contract runs out (most likely) or walk away for health reasons after this year (second most likely) or is fired (third most likely).

No coach will have as much invested in Trub as Loggains. And Coaches may say the right things when they are trying to land the job but once the contract is signed you can’t force them to accept players from previous regime. Whatever Pace may be, he ain’t naive. I am pretty sure he first decided who is going to coach the QB he is going to draft for the next 3-4 years (judgement deadline on that drafted QB) before going ahead and putting all his chips in the Trub basket.
