Our father who art in Chicago,
    Halas be thy name,
    Thy Championship come,
    Thy play will be run,
At home as it is away,
Give us this day our Sunday win,
    And forgive us our turnovers,
Thought we pounce on those who turnover against us,
And lead us not into fourth & long,
In the name of Staley, Payton & Da Holy Coach,
    As it was win 1985,
so shall it be in 2018 without end,
    For ever and ever

Keeping Firefox for another year is going to be a hard sell to fans and ownership. The mismanagement of Firefox is all the reason to fire him. Refusing to take the shackles off Birdcage and MT10 is the second. His inability to trust and coach up a rookie QB is not indicative of the capabilities of the QB.

When Firefox is gone the potential HC list (Harbaugh, David Shaw, Dennis Allen & Dave Toube) should not be forged to keep Birdcage. The HC should not have his legs cut out from under him. If MT10 is everything we hope his next HC/OC should be with him for years to come. The most important things is that the offensive philosophy of the HC caters to what MT10, does well.

Give K.Fuller a contract and be done with it already. He is of more value to us than to any other team. Just look at us without Alshon. How much better would MT10 look if Alshon was still playing? With the track record Pace has in FA it’s safer to pay Fuller than grab a guy off the streets.

    • BearDown100393

      Regarding the incumbent coaching staff.

      PACEBOT:
      Wipe them out.
      All of them.

    • BerwynBomber

Fox is not going to be fired for his “mishandling” of Bisky. Giving the kid the playbook for dummies won’t be seen as some huge fire-able offense by Pace and the FO. Hell, there are QBs in the middle of their careers whom are given limited playbooks — Bortles and Newton off the top of my head.

And most of us know the stories of OCs — Shanahan, Martz and Gase — limiting Cutler’s LoS responsibilities (namely audibling) because pre-snap recognition was a weak part of his game.
Bisky had 13 starts in college. He was about as green as rookie this side of Matt Cassell as you’re likely to find.

What Fox WILL be fired for is his garbage record after three years and his inability to win games we should (see Bretty Hundley and SF games this year). And yes they might not see his conservative style as the right fit for their young QB going forward but he won’t be fired because Bisky doesn’t win rookie of the year. Again, will be due to his shit record and inability to win what few games he should.

Don’t quite get your Fuller is more valuable to us than any other team line. Look at the Cheese (not to mention other teams across the league). You drop Fuller on their squad and he immediately becomes their Peanut Tillman. Have you seen their CBs? LeBlanc might be as good as anyone they have.

Plus, Fuller might not have the best view of the Bears after Fangio bus-tossed him last year. His decision could be personal. I would guess it is 50/50 he stays. But I can’t imagine him signing w/out testing the market as you seem to suggest.

      • Bear Instincts

I dont trust Pace to find a replacement in FA. Maybe the draft. Letting go of Alshon hurt us more than most people care to admit. He may not have been worth the money he was asking for but for the development of MT10 he was worth it. Would you rather we pay Alshon or Giraffe Gaffe?

        • BerwynBomber

I’m not completely disagreeing. I just don’t know if Fuller is that huge a fan of the Bears. He might be looking to get out.

          • Bear Instincts

            1. Money talks
            2. Alshon left because he did not think we were winners. Lets hope Fuller seeing winning on the horizon and decides to stick around

          • SC Dave

There is still a lot at stake this season.

If the price for winning out is keeping Fox, I say do it anyway. These kids need to become *winners*.

          • Bear Instincts

I’m with you. If making them winners means keeping Firefox for 1 more year then so be it. Just make sure he give Birdcage control of the offense and let MT10 run wild like the Ultimate Warrior

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Has Fuller talked about this publicly anywhere you’ve seen? I’m truly curious to know what he’s thinking. On the one hand, Fangio did basically call him a pussy. On the other hand, he was being a pussy and now he’s turning in a very respectable season.

My hope, is that Fangio May have pushed the right buttons and gotten the best from Fuller; and that Fuller sees that.

Also, Fangio won’t likely be here in a month, so I’m not sure it matters either way.

I think the defense is on the up, and it sounds and looks like the team believes in Trubisky. Couple that with the potential for a great new coach, and maybe the Bears are a pretty attractive spot for Fuller.

        • BerwynBomber

I disagree with the “being a pussy” thing.

But no, I haven’t seen Fuller utter a peep about dissatisfaction with CHI. Just using what little I know of human nature. Most men don’t take to having their toughness questioned publicly. Especially by guys w/in their own organization.

Yeah, the Fangio being gone thing is certainly a factor. That is one of the reasons I think it is 50/50. But gotta imagine he will be pricey, regardless.

Btw, WillB has made a decent argument for not trusting Fuller and letting him walk. I disagreed but could see his point.

          • DaCoaches Mustache

I’m always skeptical about the long term viability of a player who is so much better than normal during a contract year. It just screams of selfish doucheyness. But, i love the way the guy is playing this year. I’m torn on this fuckface. If they can hold on to him without breaking the bank i’m all for it.

          • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

yet every year people on the blog clamor for those one year wonder free agents.

      • BearDown100393

Again – where does Fox rank among Bears coaches?

Clean out this staff. Pace is a big boy. Hire his own.

  • Scharfinator

Holy shit, the messiah has been born. It’s MT10! Hahaha, I’m plenty excited with the Bengals game result, but we sure love to react here. I am happy that his attitude is the attitude you want from a QB. That’s probably as important as any feature for him.

As for the altruism bit, keep it up! Good stuff.

  • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

    game tomorrow… feels weird.

    • Big Mike

It does, but its good. MT going to look sharp for a national audience.

    • BerwynBomber

Always liked the late season NFL Saturday games once the college football regular season ends. And potentially two really interesting games this week given that the nightcap is the Chargers at Chiefs which will have major post-season implications in the AFCW.

      • AlbertInTucson

Good chance to get the tree decorated and the trains running when the games are on Saturday.

  • BerwynBomber

“Question I asked @adamjahns & should be considered: if Trubisky stacks three more performances like the last two, are the Bears really going make him start over with new offensive system in 2018?”

I wouldn’t get all hot and bothered over the kid’s performance vs. SF. Yes, his passer rating looked nice, but arguably 5-10% of the time it can be misleading. I would argue Bisky’s vs. SF was.

We had eight first downs and 147 total yards the entire day. Plus, he fumbled twice.

His QBR for that that game was more indicative of how he played that day than his PR. And his QBR was 48, which isn’t terrible but below average. And that sounds about right.

P.S. sorry for being negative today. But we have one across the board feel good win as we did in CiN and suddenly we are losing are collective mind.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

WE ARE THE GREATEST EVER!!!! We will not lose another game for until 2019

        Bear Down

      • BearDown100393

    • beninnorcal

And after we lose again tomorrow everyone will be back to going on about how we are the worst ever, fire everyone, including Pace, lol

We are a reactive bunch around here.

      • BearDown100393

        Proud of it.

        PASSION

    • Big Mike

I have to admit, my spirits were lifted. I think it’s because without signs of promise that we saw last week, it’s “oh no, we are going to suck forever”

Keys to beating the Lions – no Marcus Cooper, If Trevathan’s back, Callahan’s back (neither played vs Detroit last time) If amos and goldman can go, this is as healthy as the D has been in a while.

      • SC Dave

Still a little worried about the pass rush tho

        • Bear Instincts

What have the Kittens defense done lately? Plus our O Line is starting to get some sold play. This is going to be a shoot out between 2 QBs. Lets hope ours WR’s make our QB look like the better one when the game is over.

          • I think an inj Long was hurting our Oline.

We’ll see if Compton brings it again

          • BearDown100393

            His dumb penalties hurt more.

          • SC Dave

Agreed, but I meant *our* pass rush

      • I mentioned this b4 but i dont think we won a game w out Callahan.

Teams can’t simply attack the middle w impunity when he and Tre are in.

I would be worried about Goldman being out except Lions don’t run.

More worried about the pass rush.

Gotta hit Stratford or he’ll carve them up

        • Big Mike

Goldman can cave in the pocket pretty good when he gets going. Sure could use Floyd on the fast track. The Lions’ left tackle who used to play for the Packers has owned Hicks.

My surprise of the week is that Wheaton is going to catch a deep ball. Attention will shift to Wright and Shaheen and he’s going to get open deep.

    • BearDown100393

      It was a good game.

      But it was last game.

      What matters now is tomorrow.

      No excuses losing to Detroit.

  • CanadaBear

Whenever the Beloved try to keep some continuity in place to help out the QB it ends in disaster. You hire a half-assed co-ordinator that’s willing to keep someone else’s system in place. Get the best HC you can not some compromise candidate who will go along with keeping Loggains.

    • Big Mike

It’s not like the Bears offense is a finely tuned machine.

      • Bender McLugh

Can’t fine tune a machine that keeps changing what it wants to be, or some deep meaning shit like that

        • Big Mike

I don’t disagree. Had Cutler been with 1hc, 1oc his whole career he might have been more consistent. I think a house cleaning is what’s going to happen.

    • Bear Instincts

      https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/what-would-continuity-mean-for-mitch-trubisky-dowell-loggains/

Adam Jahn just laid out the case for keep Birdcage when Firefox is gone.

McVay had Kirk Cousins for every game in 2015 and 2016
Adam Gase had Peyton Manning for every game in 2013 and 2014
Kyle Shanahan had Matt Ryan for every game during his two-year run as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator
Doug Pederson had Alex Smith every game but two over Pederson’s three years as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator (2013-15)
Josh McDaniels had Tom Brady in eight of nine seasons as the Patriots’ play-caller

Jay Cutler had six offensive coordinators over eight seasons

    • BearDown100393

And this is the guy who Jeff mouth breathes over?

      JFC.

  • CanadaBear

Final injury report. Pretty skinny for a change. Must be because everyone is already out!

Chicago Bears final injury report vs. Lions: QUESTIONABLE — safety
Adrian Amos (hamstring), DL Eddie Goldman (hip), DB DeAndre
Houston-Carson (ankle) and tight end Adam Shaheen (chest).

    • it would be great if Amos and/or Goldman could be back.

      • CanadaBear

I’m guessing they are playing because of the designation. Of course, Foxy!

      • BerwynBomber

Can’t say I missed Amos since he has been gone. Or to put it another way: there was no point where I said, “Amos makes that play.”

Even though he has had a solid year.

      • SC Dave

        You meant ‘and’

  • Big Mike

Keys to the game.. No Marcus Cooper.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Pass defense improved. Nice.

      • BearDown100393

        He hated baldness.

        • DaCoaches Mustache

          He tackled baldness.

          • BearDown100393

Yeah I guess so. If he feels better about himself, good for him.

          • Irish Sweetness

It looks good! Bastard looks like a college head.

      • That Guy

Yeah, but what does his crotch look like now that they transplanted patches from it to his head?

  • BerwynBomber

The Cheese rushing back Rodgers seems bonkers. They arguably have the toughest remaining schedule of any contender — @CAR, @DET and MIN. And they’re still a sucky team.

Way too risky for a team that barely beat CLE and TB.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Yeah they’re in a bad spot. Fans probably want the guy back ASAP, next year be damned. But it’s very unlikely they make the playoffs, and if they do, they’ll be immediately bounced again.

I do think they win two of those three games with him at the controls though.

Minnesota is just better. And what a difference Keenum made. That is a totally different team with an injured Bradford out of the way.

For my own entertainment, I hope he comes back, struggles, and they lose. It’ll be fun to listen to the fan base lose their collective shit.

      • BerwynBomber

Agreed. Were I them I’d take the long view. Let Hundley lose out and get a decent draft slot out of it.

My guess is Rodgers will struggle. At least against CAR. Rust. And that’s a tough D.

And yeah, Keenum deserves some top-five MVP votes. Is he the modern day Gannon? Time will tell.

      • BearDown100393

I do not bet against Erin.

I do question Grimace protecting his prized pig.

    • BearDown100393

Good for Green Bay. Get those pads back on top of that rickety collar bone. Throw that cheap porous OL in front of him. Let the good times roll.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

he is medically clear to play.

      • BearDown100393

… by an inbred GB fan with a medical degree from Quam over the internet.

        • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

Just imagine how you would field if it was Bear that was medically cleared to play but didn’t, even though there was an outside chance we could make the playoffs.

          • BearDown100393

            How does it fieeeeelllllllllllldddddddddddd?
To be without a collar bone.
Like a complete unknown, like Erin’s collar bonneeeeeeeeeeeee.

    • SC Dave

I think it idiotic to NOT play Rodgers. Yeah, tough schedule against all contenders. PERFECT chance to win out and go to the playoffs.

      • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Or finish turning his collar bone into shrapnel.

        • BearDown100393

          Good.

      • BearDown100393

I’m all for Erin rushing back on the field. Facing a pass rush is perfect rehab for a semi healed collar bone.

  • If Albino Lovie returns, i may join MB in his ho jaccuzi

    #nttawwt

Pace shouldn’t force nor even gently suggest Birdcage to the next HC.

That probably means he does since the Bears do everything half assed

Of course if Pace had fired Fox last yr like a lot of us wanted, could’ve had continuity already.

    Oh well.

    On to the Loins

    • BearDown100393

Get rid of that entire staff.

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

There is no way any head coach worth his salt accepts Birdcage as his defacto OC.

There is also far more damning evidence on Loggains resume from this season than can be mitigated by last week’s game or by anything that will likely happen in the remain games.

He’s gone. Fox is gone. We’re a just a couple weeks away from the official announcement.

      • BearDown100393

MT not campaigning for Birdcage either.

        • Dis Guy Trublinsky

  • BearDown100393

Chico’s boss maybe on his way out.

That might present an opportunity for Pacebot to steal him as HC (if he is inclined to pursue).

    Fack Jerry Richardson either way.

    • “Modestly” Huge Bears Penis

amazing there is no details to his ‘workplace misconduct’ If it was a player we would have a crap ton of details. NFL circling the wagons to bury what really happened.

  • AlbertInTucson

Lions will be missing their starting center, a starting tackle and starting guard, T.J. Lang, is questionable.

So, why do I think the Bears will not be able to take advantage of that?

    • Dis Guy Trublinsky

Because right now, John Fox is thinking “Hmmmm. Yeeesssss. That’s exactly where they think I’ll attack them. But I won’t. I’ll use the element of surprise and avoid attacking their obvious weaknesses.”

Apparently, Belichick has exclusive rights to the coaching philosophy where you attack obvious weakness, and take away obvious strength.

    • Big Mike

Because the DEs are Hicks, RRH, Bullard and Coward and the OLBs are McPhee, Acho, Houston and Howard Jones.

  • AlbertInTucson

So, Gronk walks out of his first presser since his suspension when a reporter. Has the temerity to ask a question about the suspension.
