  • Irish Sweetness

Want to see lots of Cameron, Howard and Barkley.

Looking forward to some surprises against Dallas … winning will not be one of them

    • DaBearsBlog

2/3 of that list will probably see 0 playing time.

      • http://www.dabearsbeat.com/ Johnathan Wood

we can only hope that’s the case. I don’t want Meredith or Barkley getting anywhere near the field.

        • willbest

Barkley for sure, but White has done nothing to demonstrate he is better than Meredith. And Meredith has more NFL experience than White.

          • http://www.dabearsbeat.com/ Johnathan Wood

no, but White has the physical tools to be a superstar WR while Meredith doesn’t. In order to reach that level, he needs game reps. Seeing as they’re not winning a SB in 2016, give him as many reps as you can.

Use him in ways that maximize his physical gifts while minimizing his inexperience to help him gain confidence, then add more to his responsibilities as he is ready for it.

        • MB30SD

          #irishsPSHs!!

        • CanadaBear

If White doesn’t improve I’m OK with Meredith getting some snaps. If the Beloved give up on the season, White can play every snap as far as I’m concerned. He certainly hasn’t earned more snaps.

        • Irish Sweetness

Why not? Barkley is probably better than Hoyer and I know Meredith is better than White.

    • MB30SD

My god irish… the other two, I can understand.

Fucking Barkley dude!?!? I’d rather have the Charles variety than the shitbird we have on the bench. You’ve gotta be kidding mate.

Lots of griping this week on local radio shows about Erin. I guess it’s not just Sitton who gets sick of Rogers always deflecting blame and throwing his OL under the bus. There’s been grumblings from other OL players this week like Lang.

      • MB30SD

        Hee hee!!

    • BerwynBomber

Your joke aside, have to say if there is one fan base that should not gripe about excuses for other QBs, it’s ours. We’ve been hearing them for eight years here.

      • willbest

Its called relativity. Our QB is mid tier, and their QB is top 3.

        • BerwynBomber

Fair point. I wonder if Rodgers still is, though. Guess we’ll see. But at worst he’s top-five/ten.

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

But…but…but…I thought we had the Best WR corp. in the NFL a short time back. Hmm..

Best WR corp in NFL but the 30th ranked defense.

It takes a village. The Cheese D sucks, McCarthy sucks, and WR drop passes.

  • CanadaBear

Either the Beloved put on their big boy pants and play a complete game with a chance to win or they go down in flames like the last 2 games. If they go down in flames again, this season might go completely in the tank.

    • Cormonster

I (un)fortunately won’t get to see the game tonight. Going to see LSD tonight in Madison. So stoked! It’s at a great venue that only holds 600 with fantastic sound.

I didn’t know you were from Utah corm

    • BerwynBomber

If it goes in the tank — heck, even if it becomes obvious we won’t make the playoffs — then Long needs to go on IR and potentially have surgery.

I’m sure the guy is as game as anyone on the team — if he’s playing with a torn labrum, that evidences that — but he and Alshon are the only blue-chippers on the team and there will be no need for him to further risk injuring himself.

      • MB30SD

        Jarrell. Freeman.

        • BerwynBomber

Fair enough. He has played very well. Actually Royal and Young have too.
No one talked about it after the PHI debacle, but Young had a very good game for the D. PHI, at times, had no answer for him.

        • madscout12

Only blue chippers we’ve drafted. The strategy is to stop relying on FAs as much as we have.

Most, if not all, of our top performers/marque players in the past half decade have been FAs.

  • BerwynBomber
  • BerwynBomber

“DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog Ziggy Ansah missing Bears game is absolutely HUGE news. They would not have been able to block him.”

Agreed. And the entire NFCN is a M.A.S.H. unit at the moment. Looking at the IR lists and inactives for each team is rather eye-popping. Can’t ever remember it being this bad for the entire division this early.

    • Cubsnlinux

      Time for 106 personnel rosters!

Need to find a solution to overcome multiple injuries each season. These injuries take out a lot of fun.

      • willbest

I was thinking about an Irish roster. He likes the idea of a lots of 2-4 million dollar players and fuck the 15+ mil guys. So if you had an A squad and a B squad and they effectively played 8 games each you might be able to manage it. Since they should be healthier on average and would have 14 days to install the game plan and prepare for each game rather than the usual 7.

So that would reduce the instances of nagging injuries becoming more aggravated, but it wouldn’t solve the random act injuries. Plus then you have the playoff problem where you would want to combine your A & B squads to get the best team, but the chemistry would be off because they wouldn’t have been playing together the whole year.

  • Jack Lacan

Going to the Red Zone now…bye-bye…

It is early, but the Broncos look out classed. Wonder how this Bengals team will bungle it this year…

    • BerwynBomber

Usually ends with Dalton not being able to elevate his game in the post-season a’la Eli or Flacco. Or more precisely Dalton even being unable to maintain his reg. season level.

      • madscout12

Or that D could lose their collective minds after more bad calls from the Zebras…leading to them doing stupid things. Last drive, the horsies got 3 off of 3 first downs via penalties.

        • willbest

Well hitting the QB after the whistle helmet to helmet going high and low is pretty justified

          • madscout12

That and stupid TOs by their RB.

There’s no team that can come out looking like ballers and fold so perfectly like the Bengals.

In some weird revisionist history the Bears offense was good last year. It wasn’t. It was bottom third of the league. _ Jeff

Agreed. It’s not as if Gase blew us away with his playcalling last season. Many assumed he was good cuz teams wanted him as HC, plus we were really depleted in WRs, but Gase hasn’t really proven anything, and Birdcage even less.

    • BearDown100393

He was primarily credited for cutting down on turnovers.

    Repost from late last night:

A bunch of ya seem to prefer 12:00 games for various reasons. I’ve grown to love Bears in prime time. The reason: Red Zone.

We are always praising our favorite commentator(Simms/Nantz), and sending death threats to Aikman and Buck. But remember: Scott M’F’in Hanson has every one of those team-hopping bastards beat by 100 yards! The dude not only knows how to pronounce every player;s name in the league, he has an uncanny ability to color 3 or 4 games at once while keeping it understandable and entertaining. No other commentator even comes close to the amount of film study Hanson puts in, and it is not even close.

Red Zone is by far the best thing to happen to the NFL since Tampa left the Central Division.

  • EnderWiggin

Poor Quick, man. Put that dude with a good QB – he’d be a household name.

  • EnderWiggin

Parkey your ass on the bench.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

I think it’s silly they don’t get the ball back on 3rd down, kick it again. If your pass is incomplete on 2nd down, they don’t take possession away from you.

      • EnderWiggin

So, if it is 1st and goal, they should get 4 FG attempts?

        • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

Why not? If you kick 4 times from that close-in, you deserve a FG.
You’re using the down for a scoring opportunity, like a pass. Why do they take the ball away?

          • EnderWiggin

I asked my father. He says that a kick always counts as a possession change. I guess that is a good way to look at it.

  • willbest

wow Dak vs Hoyer. I bet NBC would like a muligan on that choice for SNF

    • willbest

Jeff doesn’t let feats in the distant past like winning a game against a playoff team without tackles and starting your 3rd string rookie QB on 3 days prep cloud his present day judgment.

      • BerwynBomber

Hah. I actually think Zimmer’s one helluva HC (and heck maybe PHI found something in Pederson), but to me it’s the hoodie and then everyone else in the league. Pretty much year after year.

      • SC Dave

A playoff team that just got beat by Buffalo.

    • AlbertInTucson

As I mention above, handing out such awards in Week 3 is weak, to put it kindly.

Frank Gore has been one hell of a RB over the years. Guy just keeps going.

    • AlbertInTucson

Especially after that horrific knee injury he suffered.

  • BuddhaJoe

Saw that Rex saved his job for another week. Was actually hoping the Lions would complete their comeback since I hate them way less than the Pack. I got back from the bar after halftime and fiance had already turned it off, she’s a Lions fan and had less faith in them than me, go figure.

    • BerwynBomber

McCarthy and the Cheese’s D almost gagged it, but Rodgers scrambled for a huge 3rd down conversion around the 2:00 mark. That pretty much iced it.

Didn’t BUF’s O play pretty well the game before Roman was fired? That had scapegoating written all over it.

      • BuddhaJoe

The stats were lying, I saw Buffalo’s O and they sucked donkey balls those two games, a couple of big plays made it look a lot better than it was. Not to defend Rex as a head coach but Roman was even shittier.

    • AlbertInTucson

The Cardinals thought it was Christmas.

      • BuddhaJoe

Ha, I’m the grumpiest old 33 year old you’ll ever meet. I’m just a wierdo.

        • MB30SD

    • EnderWiggin

My wife and I like it. Haven’t watched since they got their Tennessee store though. Most pirates don’t keep shows like that on their hard drives, so hard to obtain.

    • AlbertInTucson

I enjoy the information they bring to the items the find.

      • EnderWiggin

This. They make is seem more like a history lesson than a couple of creepy guys that like digging through a horders house.

        • AlbertInTucson

I don’t find either of the particularly creepy. Actually Ifind them pretty likable.
More likeable than the Pawn Stars guys.

And I have often seen Mike Wolf tell a seller “This is really worth more than what you’re asking.”

And they aren’t afraid to show items that they really blew it on.

I recall a car that Frank fell in love with that turned out to be a loser and also a pre-war Lionel tinplate train set that had been repainted. A HUGE devaluation point for train collectors.

      • BuddhaJoe

I like that too. When we get a decent sized place I want a finished basement with a mini-bar full of old school porcelain signs and neon beer signs. Might never happen, but it’d be awesome.

        • AlbertInTucson

I miss a basement. Not many here in AZ.

We had a lot of fun in basements when I was groing up.

That’s where the train sets were. The slot cars. The pool tables.

          .

            #Cali

I always wanted a place with a basement. Seems like it would be cool too, esp in the summer.

          • BuddhaJoe

Unless it’s a Michigan basement from an older house where it’s basically a swamp, then you may as well not have one. The newer ones are much better though.

    For those starting Alshon

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Alshon Jeffery (knee) is expected to play Sunday night at Dallas.

Fantasy owners got a mild scare when Jeffery was held out of Thursday’s practice, but he returned to a limited session Friday and should be loaded into fantasy lineups. Jeffery’s outlook is barely hindered by the Bears’ “loss” of Jay Cutler, who was playing poorly. Brian Hoyer can do just as well as Cutler did. – roto

Eagles are going to go 3-0. After being actively destroyed, a series of insane roster moves by Chip Kelly, they pitch Kelly and right that ship.

It makes me crazy that we keep rebuilding and rebuilding and I see other teams just kick ass with the right staff

    • willbest

Yes it gives proof to my assertion that year 2 is the go year, and anybody talking about a 3-5 year plan is nuts because there is too much risk of injury, FA attrition, teams figure you out, etc.

  • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Predictolator#1overall(Butch)

Better late than never. Silva’s game matchup.

    Chicago @ Dallas
Vegas Projected Score: Cowboys 25.75, Bears 18.75

Not only was Chicago eviscerated 29-14 at home by the Eagles last Monday night, John Fox’s team was decimated by injuries. On defense alone, the Bears lost NT Eddie Goldman (high ankle sprain), ILB Danny Trevathan (thumb surgery), OLB Lamarr Houston (ACL), FS Adrian Amos (concussion), and slot CB Bryce Callahan (concussion), and they now travel to Dallas on a short week. Dak Prescott is getting the Bears at a perfect time to reenter the QB1 streamer mix in what would have been a plus matchup even before Chicago’s losses. Prescott belongs in fantasy lineups over guys like Andy Dalton (vs. DEN) and Tyrod Taylor (vs. ARZ). I would rank Ryan Tannehill (vs. CLE) and Joe Flacco(@ JAX) ahead of him. … Although the Bears have played stout early-season defense — holding Texans RBs to 35-129-0 (3.69 YPC) and
Eagles RBs to 25-90-2 (3.60 YPC) — that should change minus Goldman andTrevathan. A 336-pound space eater, Goldman earned PFF’s No. 12 run-stopping grade among 69 defensive tackles last season. Trevathan was PFF’s No. 9 run-stopping inside linebacker out of 60. Ezekiel Elliott was pulled late in last week’s win for fumbling twice, but ultimately lost only five carries to Alfred Morris. Zeke piled up 44 touches in Weeks 1-2 and is currently tied with David Johnson for the NFC lead in rushing (134). Elliott remains an elite RB1. Morris is merely his handcuff.

Prescott’s Weeks 1-2 targets: Jason Witten and Cole Beasley 18; Dez Bryant 17; Elliott, Terrance Williams, and Lance Dunbar 4. … Losing Amos and Trevathan will be felt in tight end coverage, where Eagles No. 3 TE Trey Burton touched up Chicago for 5-49-1 last Monday night. Witten is currently in
a four-way tie for the NFL lead among tight ends in receptions (12). He is a solid low-end TE1 in Week 3. … After Bryant’s slow opener (1-8), the Cowboys fed him seven targets in the first half of last week’s win
over Washington and 12 targets in all while phasing out No. 2 wideout Williams (0-0). The Bears yielded 5-107-1 to Will Fuller and 5-54-1 to DeAndre Hopkins in Week 1, and would have given up 7-106-1 to Jordan Matthews in Week 2 had Matthews not dropped a 35-yard TD bomb from Carson Wentz. This is a great matchup for Bryant, particularly with his usage back on the rise. … Beasley opened the season with stat lines of 8-65 and 5-75, establishing himself as a superior option to Williams, who lost
Week 2 snaps to Brice Butler after a boneheaded Week 1 blunder when he failed to get out of bounds to give K Dan Bailey a shot at the game-winning kick. While Beasley is never going to be a great bet for touchdowns or big plays, he is worth a look in deeper PPR leagues where you can start four or more receivers.

More so than the absence of struggling Jay Cutler (thumb), the biggest Week 3 worry for Bears skill players is a decimated defense, against which the Keepaway Cowboys figure to be able
to impose their will and curb Chicago’s offensive volume. Through two weeks, Dallas ranks fifth in the NFL in time of possession while facing the league’s sixth fewest offensive plays. Across the board,
expectations need to be tempered for Bears fantasy stats. … The Cowboys’ defensive personnel remains weak enough that they gave up QB15 (Eli Manning) and QB14 (Kirk Cousins) finishes in Weeks 1-2, yielding three touchdowns to Eli and 384 total yards to Cousins. Brian Hoyer needs to be grabbed in two-quarterback leagues, where he’ll be a low-end option in Week 3. Cutler appears to be out indefinitely. The
Bears face the Lions in Week 4, Colts in Week 5, and Jaguars in Week 6.
… The Bears tried to work Ka’Deem Carey into their backfield rotation last Sunday night versus Philadelphia, but he left early (hamstring) and did not return. Rookie Jordan Howardgot his first NFL action, gave the Bears some of their best runs of the season (3-22), and needs to be owned in all 12- and 14-team leagues. Jeremy Langford remains Chicago’s lead runner for now, but his job security is already beginning to look tenuous. In season-long leagues, Langford is still in the RB2/flex discussion against a soft Dallas defensive front that
allowed 39-175-1 (4.49 YPC) combined rushing to Giants and Redskins RBs in Weeks 1-2.

Hoyer was the Texans’ starter for 11 games during DeAndre Hopkins’ 111-1,521-11 breakout campaign last year, and Josh Gordon produced stat lines of 10-146-1, 4-71, 4-86-1, 8-120, 7-75, 2-15, 4-45
in seven starts with Hoyer in 2013-2014. Cutler’s loss is not a huge concern for Alshon Jeffery, whom Hoyer figures to lock onto with Chicago unable to forge any semblance of a rushing attack and no one else stepping up in the pass-catcher corps. Kevin White has been utterly abysmal with 70 scoreless yards on 13 targets, while TE Zach Miller has not stepped forward as a meaningful part of the passing game. Slot man Eddie Royal has been a bigger factor than both. Jeffery has 70-plus yards and/or a touchdown in 34 of his last 40 games (85%) and will continue to be the Bears’ lone means of moving the chains. Assuming the knee injury that kept Jeffery out of Thursday’s practice doesn’t prove severe — it’s obviously a situation to monitor — season-long leaguers should look to buy if Jeffery’s current owners are overrating the “bad” news of
Cutler’s injury. (It’s not really bad news.)

Score Prediction: Cowboys 27, Bears 17

Well THAT certainly lifted MY spirits.

I find it funny that various sites don’t consider Cutler that much of a loss, or loss at all.

        • madscout12

They blame the defense’s performance on him. Not on birdcage, dropped balls, shit oline play, and a shit running game.

    • SC Dave

“Eliot remains an elite RB1” – hahahaha. Fantasy shit is so ludicrous.

      • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Predictolator#1overall(Butch)

He’s referring to “elite” in FF, not the real world.

In FF, it’s all about carries/touches at HB esp since so many are now in committees, and ESP vs decimated Bears D.

  • EnderWiggin

The Bears will win tonight because there’s no reason they should and that’s why they’ll pull one out of their (collective) ass. I base this on absolutely nothing.

        It’s 27-3, soon to be 34-3.

Even we didn’t play that horribly with a decimated roster.

  • SC Dave

Just got done watching the Vikings – Panthers on gamepass. Bradford looked better than Newton, in that he game out in the second half and got rid of the ball. Cam held it too long on almost every pass play.

    • http://t.co/MsJnMxjrmd Predictolator#1overall(Butch)

Bradford had like 26yds in the first half too.

    • BuddhaJoe
