The Chicago Bears 2016 Schedule

| April 15th, 2016

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 4.56.31 AM

Some thoughts:

  • Realistically, the start of the season is not difficult. Neither Houston nor Philadelphia strike me as being title contenders this season. The Bears are a young team on the rise and they need a few good things to happen to them early in the year so they can start to believe. This schedule makes that possible.
  • Four primetime games before the bye shows the NFL believes the NFL thinks the Bears might be pretty good.
  • Perfect bye week. Dead center of the season.
  •  Halloween night game…spooky.

Overall, nothing really stands out. It’s a fair, balanced schedule. And it sets up well for the Bears.

Wow, I see a very good season. Yes indeed, a very good season. If we make it to 2017.

I dedicate this song to Roger Goodell and to every zionist politician planning the destruction of freedom as we know it. Wait for it…..

DId you really say zionist politician, Trac?

      • Trac

        Yup!!!

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

          ???

          • Trac

It’s a good study. You should check it out. That is, if you can get your hands on some real history sources.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

No idea what you are talking about.

          • Trac

Most people don’t have a clue what zionism is.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I’m very familiar with what it is, just no idea what you are talking about.

          • Johnnywad

            Neither does he. It’s Trac.

  • Bobby Douglass

Is it just me, or are there not any good teams on our schedule this year?

    • That Guy

I disagree with that assessment. We’re not playing the Pats, the Panthers or the Cardinals, but there are some teams that could be surprisingly good.

The Jags will be better than expected. The Cowboys (especially early in the season before Romo gets hurt) will be good. The Colts, Titans and Bucs all have young QBs that could see their teams take a big step forward. The Skins and Giants are a mystery every year. Our division is pretty tough.

I don’t see anything overly brutal, but its not a cakewalk either. Its what Jeff said – a fair schedule.

My one complaint is that we play GB on the road on a short week. But they have a short week too, so who knows?

      • Bobby Douglass

        It’s just me then.

        • MB30SD

          Nope.

          Nb… jags??? Titsns, colts, buucs?!

Yes, you never know year to year, but it’s much better than having to play perennial winners like pats, steelers, the teams you mentioned… and the Browns.

          • Irish Sweetness

The Jags were getting good last season, I watched them a couple of times. They got a lot better in FA, and the draft has yet to come. They’ll be a tough game for us. The Titans won’t suck after all those picks …

          • That Guy

Bortles and the two Alans are a legitimately dangerous passing game. If the Jags get a running game to compliment that and/or beef up their O-line, they’ll start scoring a lot of points. Plus, their coach is actually building a pretty good foundation for their defense.

          • That Guy

As to the Titans, Colts and Bucs? I don’t expect them all to be good. But I do expect at least one of those three offenses to take a step forward behind a franchise QB. Luck is the real thing, but he’s the only thing in Indy. Marriota and Winston both looked solid and are both on really young rosters.

    • AlbertInTucson

Maybe, just MAYBE, The BEARS can be the “Good Team” on their schedule this year…?

      • Bobby Douglass

        There’s a thought I can get behind.

    • Almost makes up for last year murderers row, which we then got penalized again for sliding down in the draft based on our harder strength of schedule

    • Irish Sweetness

Let’s see what the Titans look like after all those draft picks. The Jags will be good. Giants could be good.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

    From ESPN:
    “The five easiest
    — Packers (32): Yes, it statistically is the easiest schedule in the league, even though they open with two on the road and have a rare three-game road stretch in November. They do get the earliest bye week, though (Week 4). And those clumped-up road games? The opener is the Jaguars, and the three-gamer is in Tennessee, Washington and Philadelphia. Washington is the only non-NFC North team they play on the road that had a winning record last year … and they won at FedEx Field in the playoffs last January.”

    F-cking Packers.

    • Big Mike

how does that keep working out fuck the packers

      • CanadaBear

As MBP said yesterday, the shield abides.

        • MB30SD

          Exactly. Fucking bullshit man.

I so so so badly want to sweep those cunts

          • CanadaBear

It will be interesting to see what Erin looks like with Nelson back. I thought he actually looked human last year and I don’t think that can all be blamed on one injury.

          • As they said, who knew Jordy. Nelson was the pack MVP

          • Irish Sweetness

Yup, take away a stud’s go-to guy and they start to look real human.

      • Same w barbs blow job bums, the pats

        • Irish Sweetness

I just watched ‘Do your job’. Have to hand to to Bellifat. When his O just couldn’t get it done, he used that 4 man line with the multiple eligible receivers … then you make Gronk, or somebody, ineligible, split them out wide … and sure as sugar somebody will still cover them anyway, cos its gronk and you don’t not-cover Gronk …

They got the idea from LSU.

    • willbest

Packers do have the extra preseason game this year. Perhaps the extra hits add up later in the season. Even if it is primarily to the bottom half of the roster.

I am not a fan of playing the packers on 3 days rest. Thursday games are always a crap shoot.

11 days to prepare for the Vikings is nice though.

Nothing has convinced me that the Bears are especially adept at cold weather play in recent years, so I am not particularly pleased to see 4 of our last 6 at home

Sadly, I think the only game that works in my schedule at this moment is the Dec 4 game against the 9ers and I don’t really want to see it. Plus that is a horrible time to go. I can handle 15 degrees and windy, its the 40 degrees and raining that is the worst.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Drop the temp another 8 degrees to freezing rain, and you have our 2010 game outdoors in Minnesota.
One of my toes still doesn’t work right when the barometer drops.

      • Irish Sweetness

I think I still hate the Niners more than the Packers. I didn’t hate the Packers in the Eighties … I felt sorry for them.

  • Foggy Notion

I would love to beat the Texans for the first time in that first week. I just don’t like having a team out there that we’ve never beat.

So, I’ve analyzed the schedule closely, have taken into account all factors and have determined that we’re going 16-0 in the regular season.

    • Ribeyes for Operators

Also Kristin will have an anti-vaxxer affair with Bobby Deniro.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

haha, if a kid ever gave my kid Small Pox or some crazy ass extinct disease and they died, even Cutty’s kids, I’d kill their entire family over a weekend, put it on Youtube and wait patiently for a fucking army of you guys to break me out.

Haha, can you imagine the death scene with me and Cutty? It would be like the end of Skyfall.

“Here you go, kids. Have fun.”

          • MB30SD

I would take my kids to that house!

GP, my kids snuck out of nap time a week ago and caught me playing COD. I caught it and turned it off before any gory deaths took place luckily, but they begged me to play… so now I create a custom game without any other players/bots and let them jetpack around and shoot the guns at inanimate objects.

I figure as long as they’re not experiencing the violent deaths, the experience seeing guns and ‘shooting’ them will help our family survive in Trac’s coming Zionist Zombie Apocalypse.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

            it’s retro!

          • willbest

Unless things have changed polio has no known animal reserve and is human only. If people are still getting the vaccine 20 years from now its because the drug companies want money.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

or its because of some War torn nation can’t get the vaccines to their people, or the people are rejecting vaccinations because of distrust of the people giving them out. Pretty sure the largest polio outbreaks right now are Pakistan and Afghanistan where extremist have been saying the immunization drive is “a secret Jewish-American agenda to poison” and spreading rumors that the vaccinations are a secret sterilization plot, that they contain pig fat, and that healthcare workers are actually spies. They may have a point on the spies thing, the CIA tried to use the vaccination program to verify the location of Bin Laden.

        • Viva

That sound like a one-man job that has my name written all over it.

        • willbest

You know we stopped widespread vaccinating for small pox back in the early 70s. So your kids would be just as likely to kill Cutty’s kids as the other way around.

I am only pointing this out, because I hope you aren’t being a hypocrite about this and would be okay if he killed your family if the situation were reversed.

    • Viva

Uhhhh, your math is fucked up. You forgot the playoffs.

      19-0

    • CanadaBear

I always like those toupees that give the guy more hair than they have had since they were 21. Nobody would ever guess!

    • willbest

On the flip side, we don’t have a corner that can cover Hopkins, And they still have JJ. Plus historically cross-conference road games are historically especially hard wins.

      • Lets be real, NO ONE can cover Hopkins or Block JJ.
Just gotta scheme around them like every other team.

I’m much more confident in Fangio than our new unproven oc, rt, te

        • Irish Sweetness

Serious question. How can one be confident in a DC who does not believe in pressure? How does one stop offenses by allowing them to do what they want? Who has ever done it in the history of the NFL?

          • CanadaBear

Are you basing that on just last year? For fuck’s sake Irish, the guy had very little talent to work with. A rookie safety, an UFA at the other spot, 2 CB’s that were mediocre at best, 2 ILB’s that were horrible and a bunch of injuries. With that shaky back four and absolutely the worst coverage in the middle of the field, if the guys don’t get home (and they probably would not) it’s a disaster. Let’s see if he’s that cautious this year.

      • Irish Sweetness

Hopefully we’ll be drafting that corner. Possibly at 11.

  • Ribeyes for Operators

The other shit blog, the one with the SB Nation hand up it’s ass – says 10-6 in the poll.

    I’m going 11-5.

    http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2016/4/15/11436688/2016-chicago-bears-schedule-a-deeper-look-at-opponents-predictions

    • Irish Sweetness

Sounds about right. Titans, Jags and Giants could be losses. I’ll give the Queens and Fudgers their home games. Osweiler Bradford, Stafford and Luck should spend a considerable amount of time on their backs in the first third … assuming Fangio decides to change his ways and cut loose a little with better players. If not, I want him gone. And mid-season gone.

We could bring in Singletary as DC, and (if we draft big on the DL) run the ’46’. No more of this bend-don’t-break crap that does nothing but allow offenses – and poor QBs – to run their game-plans unharried.

      Bring. Pressure.

      • CanadaBear

        Please no Singletary.

  • CanadaBear

I was thinking the Bears might be in the 3rd category but noooooooooooooo. For fuck’s sakes, even the Loins are in the 3rd category. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000653361/article/roster-reset-recap-four-power-teams-reign-in-nfc

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

really the Lions, Chubby McFuckface doesn’t have Megatron to save his ass anymore.

      • CanadaBear

The only way this makes sense is if Dickerson (ESPN) was the ghost writer. nfl.com has some of the worst sports journalists (I’m being kind) anywhere. I guess that makes sense because they also have some of the worst on-air people.

        • willbest

There is a part of me that wants Cutler to win the Super Bowl as a non-Bear just to see if JD’s head would explode. Though I would settle for Cutler winning the Super Bowl as a Bear and listening to JD say something profound like “but he can’t do it again so the Bears should move on to find a QB of the future”

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

WTF! you will settle for Cutty winning as a Bear? You would rather he win elsewhere just to prove one dumbass report wrong. That is some fucked up shit.

          • willbest

Probably not worded the best. I want my Bears SB victory, who is on the team isn’t particularly relevant. Despite Cutler being the 2nd longest tenured player on the team, I still sort of see him as a merc in a mutually beneficial arrangement than one of our home grown guys.

          • Irish Sweetness

Nah. We gave up good picks and Kyle Orton for him. He’d damn well better win us Lombardi, because that’s what we paid for. Otherwise you just sit back and build a line for Kyle. What was the point of trading for Cutler? To give him his retirement fund?

    • willbest

Why are the Eagles contenders? And anybody that thinks Stafford sans Megatron is better than Jay Cutler throwing to a practice squad let alone AJ and KW has consumed too much of the happy juice.

      • Irish Sweetness

I haven’t checked it out, but I have a feeling the Eagles are media contenders EVERY season.

  • willbest

I like getting the Eagles early, I think that will be a disorganized mess the first half of the season. I don’t like getting Dallas or the Colts early since their QBs will almost certainly still be upright.

There is no telling what fresh hell the Titans might be able to unleash now that they have 6 of the top 76 picks in this years draft, and a QB looking to take the sophomore jump.

    • Irish Sweetness

I think it’s them that needs to be worried about us, Will. But I always think that … but this time I really think it’s true … aw fuck.

Jebus Christ on a bike. 6 picks out of 76? Isn’t that the keys to a Lombardi right there?

Seems like the nuns could probably come to some sort of accord with the club owners, if they were to start having mass right out on the sidewalk during the busy enter and exit times. A sermon on adultery, fornication, and sin generally while people are waiting to get in or waiting for cabs would cause enough of a drop in clientele that the club might adopt some good neighbor positions.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

doubtful, most protests against adult books stores and strip clubs usually cause a slight dip in “business” but after a week or two the protesters numbers usually dwindle and business picks back up. A friend of mine was part owner of a strip club and when they first opened there were about a hundred protester the first night, and within about 2 weeks there were only 1 or 2 left. While nuns might be a little more persistent I bet the strippers would still win out.

Per the article I find it funny as hell that the nuns attorneys racked up $1200 on 11 “visits” to gather evidence that currently the nuns had to have paid for.

        • willbest

It really is hard to look at this schedule and see more than 4-5 losses.
Also, I notice quite a few nationally televised game sin the first half of the season. Does DTV still do that thing where you can buy the last 8 weeks for half the price?

    • RenoBear

Unfortunately I haven’t seen that for the last few years… I call them every August or so and usually get $100 or so knocked off. Funny thing, Trestman’s last year I got over half off the season. I still paid too much, but hey, at least they lessened my misery financially. But 99% of the time DTV are total crooks. Lord I wish I could stream live games dependably

      • It’s not legal, but wiz1.net has really good streams. HD quality, and almost never glitchy.

        • Irish Sweetness

I don’t know any site that has glitchy streams. ‘Glitches’ take place on the client side. Clean out your cache form time to time. I watch all my games on pirated streaming sites and don’t have any problems. Are they in Hi-def? No. But I used to listen to games on the radio, so they’re way better than that ….

Journalism at it’s finest. I often read shit like that and wonder WTF? Don’t they proof read their shit, or perhaps have an editor?

        • willbest

Since the daily mail is the most read British Newspaper it is hard to argue that they don’t know what they are doing

          • Irish Sweetness

Oh dear. No. Welcome to British tabloids. Well, for starters they misused the verb ‘spurred’ instead of ‘spurned’. That’s not a typo, it’s just unforgivable mis-usage. The ‘journalists’ employed by the tabloids are not good. People who left school at 16, that kind of thing. And if you think that readership is in any way related to quality .. .then I would guess you had never read the actual most widely-read paper in Britain, The Sun …which is famous for showing tits.

We give Costner alot of shit around here because, let’s be honest, Draft Day made us all swallow our own vomit at times. But i think we can all agree that Tin Cup is as close to sports movie perfection as you can get. I’m watching it WITH commercials even though i own the fucking dvd. He might be the most-maligned-without-question actor of all time. Check out his filmography :
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Costner_filmography

From 1985-2000 he was averaging a good-great movie EVERY YEAR!

He’s made a lot of very watchable movies around the great ones.

GREAT : The Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, No Way Out, Dances with wolves, JFK – maybe one of the most important movies ever made, because, y’know, it’s true.

WATCHABLE-GOOD : Open Range, Fandango, Silverado, American Flyers, A Perfect World, Mr. Brooks, The Bodyguard, The Postman, Wyatt Earp, Tin Cup.

      Not a bad haul.

      • MB30SD

Tommy Cruise gets alot of shit but his movies are entertaining as all get out.

        • AlbertInTucson

He’s very good in A FEW GOOD MEN and THE FIRM.

I enjoyed EDGE OF TOMORROW and OBLIVION.

          MINOIRTY REPORT, not so much.

          VANILLA SKY is drek.

Robert Duvall is the only saving grace for DAYS OF THUNDER.

His lack of on-screen chemistry with then wife, Nicole Kidman, contributes to the overall unsexiness of EYES WIDE SHUT

          • That Guy

I can’t watch A Few Good Men. Its one of those movies that, as a real lawyer, is just too far removed from reality to be enjoyable.

When I took trial ad in law school, the professor (a former trial lawyer and judge) basically told us on the first day that only one lawyer in history had ever elicited an on the stand “you got me” confession from a witness – Perry Mason. I can’t enjoy films any more where that’s the jist of the entire courtroom scene.

          • Irish Sweetness

Loved Oblivion. Minority Report – can’t go wrong with Phiip K. Dick. Collateral was a great thing for Cruise to do, wasn’t expecting that, and like waffle said, a lot of his movies are entertaining, WOTW and what-knot.

I’m surprised that Eyes Wide Shut doesn’t get more recognition. The best director of them all (for me), lifting up the skirt of the top echelon of society, parties he had witnessed first hand (it’s filmed in Nathan Rothschild’s London mansion). Interesting stuff. If there’s no chemistry between himself and Kidman, it’s because there IS no chemistry between him and his wife in the movie. That’s one of themes of the movie. Sparkless marriages. Saying together for the kids – who doesn’t get that, right? TC is a weird cookie for sure, but the popcorn comes out, so to speak.

Does anyone find Kidman sexy? She’s in the Paltrow/Hathaway room for me.

BTW, just watched Hail Caesar, which is a good peek at Hollywood back in the day.

          • MB30SD

Out of those three she’s def the best pick.

Paltrow is fucking insufferable and I’d want to slap her after .00002 seconds… if I was that kind of man.

Hathaway is fugly and reminds me of the comic book villan Venom with that massive gaping fucking maw of hers. I feel like her mouth accounts for 51.86% of her entire face.

            (Shudder)

          • CanadaBear

Paltrow is really an overbearing, self-important blowhard. Hathaway seems to have some of the same traits but at a much lower level. Once in a while I think she looks great and then the next time she looks like the Joker without makeup. Kidman always struck me as someone that was a tad cold. I’ll give her credit, she’s the one that helped Katie Holmes get divorced and get the kids away from Scientology.

          • MB30SD

            All of this

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Edge of tomorrow was way, way better than I was expecting. In fact, I love it

        • MB30SD

Agree, but he’s a little freak douche

      • AlbertInTucson

Not a Tin Cup fan. Bull Durham is the MUCH better sports movie, or the Untouchables for that matter. He’s a good Wyatt Earp but that movie is just too ambitious (ergo too long) for it’s own good. “Dances” loses me with the “All White People are evil incarnate” message at the end. I really love most of Open Range but, c’mon, the lack continuity of “how many bullets can Charlie Waite’s six-gun hold” in the otherwise excellent climactic shootout, is a glaring faux paux. Duvall steals that movie as “Boss’ Stearman”.

        • CanadaBear

I liked Tin Cup but agree Bull Durham is way better. I liked Dances and didn’t mind the msg. Same with Open Range, I watched the shootout recently and thought the same thing but it didn’t ruin it for me.

I dislike Cruise so much I rarely see any of his movies. I think he sucks as an actor and Scientology? Really? I did see Eyes Wide Shut and totally agree. I think the only way he would have any on screen chemistry is if the other person was male.

        • That Guy

Open Range is one of my favorite movies of all time. The “how many bullets” thing has never really bothered me in film and I’d be curious to go back and count as there are several reloading shots if memory serves. I agree though, Duvall steals the show.

      • CanadaBear

I would certainly argue with ya about American Flyers but that’s as much because I’m a bike junkie. Breaking Away is by far the better bike movie. Never saw Waterworld, The Bodyguard or The Postman. I’ll always like him because of Field of Dreams. I’m a baseball fan, obviously, but being born and raised in Iowa + actually going to the movie site …

I worked with a woman that spent a few hours with him at some meet and greet when his band was playing at a Stampede party in Calgary. She said he was genuinely nice.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

how bout Field of Dreams 2?

          • CanadaBear

            YIKES!

        • Ribeyes for Operators

Waterworld and the Postman would nuke anyone’s career, even Arnie.

Oh, and Dances with Wolves beat Goodfellas for best picture and Costner didn’t even acknowledge it. So there’s that. His portrayal of Superman’s dad is good though

          • CanadaBear

When it comes to the Oscars my biggest beef has always been Martin Landau winning for playing a hammy actor (Bela Lugosi) in Ed Wood. He beat out Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction. That was for best supporting actor.

  • willbest

Took the family to the Cubs game today. None other than Zach Miller threw out the first pitch and lead the 7th inning stretch. I presume he had his infant son with him, otherwise expect to see reports of babynaping.

Nice day for a game, Rizzo and Soler with the back to back homers added some excitement and then Fowler hit a 3 man homer later. Kids have the worst timing on bladder though. While taking the middle child to the bathroom he missed his chance on the jumbotron. The youngest one lost interest but that is to be expected I suppose.

I have a fun one for you guys.

    * match with a chick on bumble (we both swiped right)

    * the only real reason I swiped right was because her profile had 3 normal pics of her… and 3 of her in a bikini posing (professionally done shots – a red flag in and of itself).

    * basically her face is a 6 and her body an 8, so that avgs out to a 7… meh, ok, why not

    * we chat for a bit through the app, then I suggest we get a drink next week and give her my #

    * she texts me and we make more small talk. She’s at a Padres game with her girls today

    * after some more flirty banter I say, “hey send me a cute pic of you at the game”. Thinking I’ll get a group selfie of them being silly

    * she texts back, “um, no. I’m not like that. I don’t feel comfortable texting you a pic. We haven’t even met yet. That’s weird to ask”

    * I go back and check her bikini pics on her profile that every dude can see, not just a guy she’s already matched with and has been chatting with for a day

…I am MB30’s annoyed and confused logic

I just never texted her back. She’s either a total fucking whack job or she’s so illogical and obtuse, I won’t get past the first 10 minutes of the date without wanting to just get up and walk out mid-sentence.

Things have changed some. When the guys came back from Viet Nam the peaceniks treated them like shit and there were a lot of them. The stupid fuckers never seemed to figure out the vast majority of the guys were poor people that were drafted. At least now, people give the soldiers lip service (thank you for your service) and you rarely hear of anyone treating them like shit or protesting against them (and these guys weren’t drafted). Some things don’t change. The govt didn’t give a fuck about them then and they don’t now.
