Jeff, watching Cutler last Monday obviously inspired you. It did all of us real fans out there. (There are many of us). That is why they play the game. I recall a great Bears team, 2006…the one that Denny Greene (RIP) said we knew who the Bears were….That team had a young D in their prime and a QB that in that AZ game, chucked 4 INTs and they still were 15-1 and went to the SB. When they played AZ they were first in scoring and first in D. The D was responsible for both of those stats. Hell, they were down 20-3 to AZ and the O never scored again, yet the Bears won. My point is, it takes a team effort to win. During Cutler’s 8 years here, the Bears have never had a decent D, running game , good WRs, and repeat coordinators. They do this year. The stars are aligned. Ask the Cubs. So, the Bears win out the last 8 games, make the playoffs! Even if Cutler just plays average. We win this thing now! 10-6, playoff bound!

    • Irish Sweetness

Running the table would make for a legendary Superbowl win, wouldn’t it? With a pair of backup guards ….

      • Joecashflow

I think Sitton back next week?

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

See, when I was a kid if someone had of said “running the table”, I’d have gotten confused when I found out it didn’t refer to running or a table.

It reminds me when I got detention in 7th grade after moving to the States from South Africa. My history teacher told me to pick up the room after class one day as everyone left. I looked around, scratched my head and said to myself “how could I possibly pick up the room?”. Thinking he was playing a trick on me, I left only to find out the next day what he meant.

        • Captain Obvious

Is that why Mordor is such a mess? The orcs can’t pick up?

        • willbest

          Every country has idioms.

    • madscout12

I just hope all the players and coaches are smart enough to see the above. They are building something. They need to do it with young players and hold on to guys that are performing. They can’t do shit like play John Anderson when DT is hurt, and cut him, and our young polach LB doesn’t see the field. Why is Mitch Unrein getting so many plays with young guys behind him needing to see the field?

And yes, do not kick Cutty to the curb for a young guy, Brian Hoyer, and some UDFA. Next year’s QB room should be Cutty, 1-2 Draft picks, and Conner Shaw if 1 draft pick.

      • Bender McLugh

hasnt UNREIN played well the last two games

        • madscout12

With 52% of snaps, Unrein has 0 sacks and 16 tackles.
With 25.5% of snaps, Bullard has 1 sack and 11 tackles.
With 27.8% of snaps, Cornwash has 2 sacks, 7 tackles, and a pass defense.

With 82.3% of snaps, Hicks has 4 sacks, 21 tackles, a pass defense, and 1 forced fumble.

If I’m coach, I’d like to see Bullard out for at least 35% of snaps – 40%, Cornwash on for similar, and spell Hicks and take away time from Unrein.

This also frees up Unrein to do what he was made to do…be a fucking wrecking ball in the running game.

          • Bender McLugh

So UNREIN is a good rotation guy, Bullard should become a beast

Foles has the start for KC this week, and played well in relief last week. Smith has a concussion. Something to keep an eye on.

      • Some were speculating that Foles would Bledsoe Smith.

        Don’t think so though.

In some way, it’s kinda like the Cutler-Hoyer debate.

Smith won’t fling it down field, but he’ll take care of the ball, and plays efficiently.

Foles represents more downfield threat, but he’s thrown like 19INTs in last 20 games or something.

maybe Chiefs take their time with Smiths’ concussion. But In that competitive division, maybe not.

      • madscout12

And here I heard from Jim Miller that Cutler could remake his career in the image of a guy like Alex Smith. Cause the Chiefs are going to make the playoffs again. Cause defense has nothing to do with it.

Someone posted he went Forte today in FF. Looking like the second time all year that was a winner.

Matt should have found a better team. But maybe no one was going to have him. Then again, Shea and Chris are still in yhe league, so…

    • I have Forte and started him.

Barring some crazy situation, he’ll be at worst a HB2 going forward, and can match any top HB any given week.

Forte can actually rack up more stats, but for some odd reason, the Jets don’t pass to him as much, and prefer Powell in that role, even though Forte broke 100 catches with the Bears.

It’s a bit baffling, but I’m hoping the Jets will eventually come to their senses in that area.

      • SC Dave

They have been running Matt far too much, and throwing to him far too little, IMO.

          • willbest

You are going to have to explain to me how Trump is a pro war candidate. Unless you are arguing that his quasi-isolationist policies will result in increased aggression leading to war.

          • madscout12

            Wants use nuclear weapons.
Wants to bomb oil fields in Iraq to combat ISIS.

But you’re right…generally he talks after the fact about military actions that didn’t turn out to well. But the man is a blow hard who throws a temper tantrum if someone calls out his bullshit. He’s unpredictable in his demeanor and his policy positions. And he’ll say and do anything he thinks is popular. If war became popular, he’d be all over it.

          • willbest

On the flip side, if you truly believe that about him, so would every world leader. That would actually make Trump very predictable, which is good for not starting wars.

          • madscout12

On the contrary, the current default policy position, on the pseudo-left and the traditional right, is war and military action in places around the world where we act unilaterally. To change this requires action, not just never talking about actively going to war. Donald Trump has said nothing to make me believe he wants to change that status quo, and thus, I label him as pro war.

          • AlbertInTucson

  • Irish Sweetness

Wow. Mariota has 26 redzone TDs and zero redzone picks in his short career.

  • ha! 9ers D is so bad, they INTENTIONALLY held ALL the WRs in the closing seconds of the 1st half.

It was actually kinda brilliant, cuz it leaves the Saints with 4 secs and no possibility of a TD.

Hopefully Fangio has that in our books.

    • willbest

I am sure the NFL will fix that right quick. Can’t have smart defensive fouls.

      • AlbertInTucson

Remember, the half or the game cannot end on a defensive foul.

        • willbest

I wasn’t watching but it sounds to me what happened was there was 20 seconds on the clock and they just mugged the receivers killing about 16 seconds surrendering 5 yards. Leaving 4 seconds, and too much distance to go for the last play.

Sound strategy for the field position I say.

I got Brees, Hightower, Cooks and Fleener for NO and DuJuan Harris for SF.

        • Byes hit my WRs. Fitz and Hopkins out.

I started Pryor, and picked up Enuwa off the scrap heap as a dart throw.

Reed and Cousins were also on bye, so I got Kap and Doyle for that. Kap is cool, TE always a shrug of the shoulders.

It’ll come down to Booker and Carr for me in the night game.

  • willbest

I thought I would have a nice Bear bye, but watching the Packers and Minny implode and realizing that with an NFL kicker & punter we would be 4-4 with a 2-1 division record and right in the thick of things really was salt in an open wound.

    • madscout12

Take heart, young willbest. Going forward, this division is begging to be taken over. Vadgers is mortal and the rest of the team sucks. Minny has nothing at QB. And the Lions are the Lions.

If the Bears continue to build and find their guy at QB, there is no reason we can’t dominate. Or with a healthy Cutty, we can compete every year for the next 2-3.

          • Huge Bears Penis

don’t forget with Cam’s whining the last couple weeks and all the talking heads blathering about it, the NFL made it a point for the Refs to put more focus on that type of call.

After this weekend, can we say we have a shot at the NFCN?

    • madscout12

      Let’s get to .500 first.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Exactamundo!

      • Scharfinator

        Yeaaaaaah. My phrasing was bad.

    • AlbertInTucson

      No.

      • SC Dave

Well, it’s looking a lot better than it did Saturday.

    • Johnnywad

Why not? Gotta have something to pull for. Three games back with 8 to play is a tall order. But the Bears do hold head to head tie breakers over both current 5 win teams.

If the team that showed up against Minnesota is here to stay, (who the hell knows?) I say “Why not?”. The other three have plenty of weaknesses

  • AlbertInTucson

Thank you, DeMarco Murray. That tied my game up. M Gordon put me down 1 but, my opponent has no more players active.

He needs to hope that Buffalo can shut out Seattle in Seattle Monday night.

I have Baldwin, Graham and Hauschka in my lineup.

    Confidence is high.

    • Huge Bears Penis

FUCK M. Gordon. put me down 8. Hoping A. Cooper can score some points against Denver, something that has not happened much this year for WRs

      • Cooper has a tough go with those CBs.

I’m up by 10, have Carr and Booker.

505Bear has Cooper, Sanders and Hauschka.

It’ll be close, but Cooper pretty much can’t score without Carr scoring.

So glad I got Kap off the wire this week.

        • AlbertInTucson

Murray is sucking up all the Raider TD points.

      • AlbertInTucson

No Talib for Denver tonight might help u out.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Raider D looks pumped.

  • AlbertInTucson

“Sea Bass” is in his 17th season.

    Wow.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Whoops.

  • AlbertInTucson

Yes, Jack, take the 3 there.

  • JUST FUCKING CAME OUT OF COMMERCIALS.

Kick off. Right back to commercials!

    WTF

Maybe they should eliminate the KO if it means less commercials.

    • AlbertInTucson

Oh, I assure you, it would not mean THAT.

    • MB30SD

Thursday night games like browns ravens ain’t helpin

  • AlbertInTucson

    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
I told you Bears could win division. You didn’t believe me. Because you spend too much time hating Jay.

They are 4 games under .500.

Let’s save that “I told you so” until they at least get to within shouting distance of .500.

  • EnderWiggin

I think they just read a Lorin Cox comment on the Talking Dead.

  • willbest

I think the Raiders are the last pre-season prediction I had that is still viable.

    • I liked them too.

Though I’m a bit surprised their Oline is pushing around the Donks like that on the run. Donks aren’t greatest at run D but wasn’t expecting them to be on skates.

The Raiders are also shutting down the run and making Semien beat them, which he hasn’t been able to do because he’s Semian.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Good call.

      • AlbertInTucson

Didnt think they would come this far this fast.

Carr looks like the real deal.

    • MB30SD

      I had raidahs and that jags d… 1 outta 2 ain’t bad

      • willbest

Yeah I thought this was the year the Jags competed for the division. I was way off on that one. I also liked the Redskins, and they are hanging in there but Dallas is tearing it up and the Giants are now finding ways to win. I guess I can’t write the Dolphins off just yet. I didn’t pick them to win the division, but I felt they were playoff bound. They started bad but are up to 4-4. I don’t see them competing for the WC, but they aren’t that far out of it.

        • MB30SD

          Meh redskins.

Chargers quietly making statements… good ones this time.

  • willbest

what the shit? they are rebooting The Mummy, and they are getting Tom Cruise to lead it instead of Brendon Fraser. Also, this “Monster Universe” is supposed to culminate in an Avengers style crossover?

  • AlbertInTucson

“Otis Sistrunk. From the the University of Mars.”- Alex Karras.

    Classic MNF commentary.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Goodnight, Broncos.

  • F–K Weed Superman (GP)
    • MB30SD

Would be hilarious if we swept the vikes and lions and split greenpuke.

      Wildcard?

  • F–K Weed Superman (GP)

Hey Butch, you pick Artoo over me? Hmm???

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJlN9jdQFSc

    • MB30SD

Good vid. I got about 75% if them

    • Reverse Jinxs works again!

Harris was a nice one week rental. Helped me with Kap, that’s for sure.

I’m amazed Artoo got this far, really.

NB is the one to watch out for.
