Weddle is 31, Osemele is 26. I don’t think its much of a question consider we just paid a 32 year old safety $5 million to spend the season on IR.

      • SC Dave

And people dont want to pay Forte $5M. Smfh

        • Irish Sweetness

If we have 58M, I think I’d throw 5 at Matty, it’s going to be a long season and we don’t have a lot of good receivers. AJ looks to be the riskier proposition at this point, as his agent wants to get paid silly money no doubt.

Osemele in a heartbeat, that RG position is a weak link, and Quartey-Jones and Amos might be the pairing going forward. They’ll get better, and hopefully the DL gets a new face or two in the off-season – and a new pass-rushing OLB from the draft or FA – making it easier on the DBs.

We have a nice stable of backs if Matty gets signed, so a nice big wall in front of them alone makes us a shoe-in for the playoffs.

  • Is Wayne a HOFer? Man, the logjam at WR got worse
Free agent Reggie Wayne told CBS 4 Indianapolis that he plans to retire.
“Yeah, I’m done,” said Wayne. “It was fun, but it’s time. Whenever you can admit that you’re done, you know you’re done.” Wayne went unsigned following the 2014 season until September, when he flopped in a two-week preseason stint with the Patriots. Wayne, 37, wound up playing 14 seasons and earning six Pro Bowl berths. Wayne changed his game over the course of his career, beginning as a deep-threat complement to Marvin Harrison before playing a possession-type slot receiver role in his later years. Wayne will retire seventh in the all-time record books in receptions (1,070) and eighth in receiving yards (14,345). Wayne figures to be a fringe Hall of Famer but a lock for the Colts’ Ring of Honor. Roto

  • Cormonster

So it’s been 30 years since the Bears won the Super Bowl. Kind of bummed me out when thinking about it this morning. Then I looked up other teams who have never won a Super Bowl to make myself feel better.

13 teams have never won the Super Bowl, including at least one from each division.
Lions, Vikings, Eagles, Cardinals, Panthers, Falcons, Bengals, Browns, Bills, Chargers, Titans, Jaguars, and Texans.

The Lions, Browns, Jags, and Texans / Oilers have never even been to the big game. The Browns last Championship was in 64, the OIlers 61 (AFL), and Lions 57. Man the Lions are pathetic.. They haven’t won anything in 59 years. The only thing more pathetic that comes to mind are the Cubs, who haven’t even been to the World Series since 1945.

    • Irish Sweetness

Yup, it’s good to have been the King. Even if just once.

The Browns get a pass though. Otto went to the biggest game in football ten years in a row (of his ten year career), winning SEVEN titles. That’s amazing. The ‘superbowl’ label is just that.

I don’t think the Panthers are good enough to win this year though. The Cards maybe, but after pasting the Packers in the regular season, it wouldn’t surprise me if Vadgers returned the favor this weekend in a close one.

      • Doc Nitty

I sweater gawd, if the Packers win this weekend, I may go postal.

        • MB30SD

          FUCK the packers

          • Irish Sweetness

If a team other than the Bears is to win it – which is a sure thing now – then Carson gets my vote. Go Cards.

          • MB30SD

very much this. I’m all in on the cards. If the packers beat them then I don’t fucking know, I just don’t.

        • Cormonster

Fuck the Packers and their stinky ass city. When you drive through Green Bay on US Route 43 you have to roll your windows up because it stinks so bad from the paper mills. They should be called the Ashwaubenon Packers. Lambeau Field is surrounded by it on 3 sides and most of their facilities are there.

I get the feeling the NFL is pushing the NFC to Cards @ Panthers

Packer’s body clock will be 9:30pm in the 4th quarter relative to Cards who will be at 7:30pm
Seahawk’s start the game at 10am, relative to the 1pm the Panthers do.
Meanwhile the Patriots get to play their game across dinner, while the Chiefs are between meals. Same benefit the Broncos have over the Steelers.

You might say that is the way the games fell, but does anybody for a second think that the Bronco’s game should be in the traditionally most watched time slot while the Chief’s and Patriots play in the least watched one.

    • BerwynBomber

One of the four letter’s talking head shows posited that Newton/Wilson might be the new Brady/Manning QB rivalry. Matched up in a few different ways — one a #1 overall pick, the other a later round guy, a couple meetings in the post-season already, arguably the two best QBs in their conference these days, etc.

    • Irish Sweetness

Goldenballs Cutler has his coming-out party next season. They’ll be queuing up to fellate him.

Amendola should be ejected for that.

Then he chest bumps his team-mate because it was only a 2.5 yard penno. Dirty fucker. The Pats weren’t really penalised for a dirty dangerous play.

    • willbest

No doubt. A 2.5 yard penalty is criminal. Half the distance to the goal is bullshit. It should be 15 yards and if its a PI, inside 15 yards it should be a safety.

    • willbest

Also a Linebacker needs to take Amendola’s head off.

  • willbest

Rodgers throws 5-6 picks every year that get called back on mysterious questionable penalties on the defense.

  • BearDown100393

Blue Star loves Annacott Steel. Draft Kings loves the Cheese.

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

In fact I’m going to watch that now just on principle

  • Packers refs travel well

  • willbest

Trying to figure out why teams don’t take defensive timeouts to make substitutions and get rest. Particularly when it would preserve time for our offense to score going into the half

  • BearDown100393

Costas slobbering all over Seattle. That doesn’t bode well for Rivera’s Panthers.

    • willbest

Panthers have got to be the most disrespected 1 loss team in my lifetime

      • Irish Sweetness

The only good team they’ve beaten this year … was the Seahawks.

Unless you count the Packers …

Don’t you have to at this point?

  • willbest

That was more crushing than last years nfcc

    • BerwynBomber

Nah, they didn’t choke that one away. In fact, they almost pulled off a miracle. A stinging defeat, no doubt but really a game that the Cards, if anyone, would have been the gag artists.

      • willbest

After the comeback that had the feeling of destiny, they end up getting beat the same way they got back into the game. D swarming the QB gets away to hit the open receiver with blown coverage from the D.

        • BerwynBomber

I don’t know. Felt like in the 4thQ Cards finally asserted their superiority. They were moving the ball at will. And on the flip side Rodgers was throwing to a bunch of scrubs.

But Palmer damn near threw two RZ INTs. That tipped ball could have gone to anyone.

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Football….unfucked by men and unsullied by the nfl

  • MB30SD

I LOVE that play. I love the little inside flip.

    AWESOME call.

    • MB30SD

      hahahaha… I like that.

      This win was indirectly our doing. 1 + 3 = 10

      Love it.

  • Irish Sweetness

Aaaaand …. the Packers cover. No XP.

  • willbest

That might be the best game of the year.

  • AlbertInTucson

Packers lose despite Carson Palmer’s andBruce Arians’ best efforts to give the game away.

    • AlbertInTucson

That pass on 2nd down with 2;40 or so remaining
      A) Never should have been called and
      B) Never should have been thrown.

      • BerwynBomber

I thought Arians was outcoached most of the game. And Palmer didn’t play well. Still, the better team won. But they were a bit lucky to do so.

        • AlbertInTucson

I think some of it for Palmer was the finger, but a lot it was absolute poor decision making.

      • BillW

I hate stupid calls like that. Well, that plus going on 4th with AZ already in fg range

And is it just me or are the refs FINALLY sick of gb whining for a flag after literally every incompletion?

Rodgers is damn good. But comparisons to MJ are insulting. MJ never whined for calls.

        • AlbertInTucson

Arians outsmarted himself and is damn lucky he didn’t pay the price.

There’s hutzpah and then there’s hubris.

In the end, I’d rather be lucky than good.

      • CanadaBear

I was reading this was the 4th time this year Arians has called for a pass in that situation. The other three times the pass was completed and they drained the clock with a fresh set of downs. Risky for sure.

  • BerwynBomber

Surprised GB was in that thing. Especially when Rodgers was throwing to a receiving corps similar to what we had at the end.

Palmer and Arians were indeed lucky. The former played lousy and the latter was outcoached. But … the better team advanced.

    Helluva game.

    • willbest

He did have his starting o-line though.

      • BerwynBomber

Hah! Given the quality of that line, that’s not saying much.

Anyway, Cheese did about as well as they could. They were a mediocre team this year. Last year will always haunt that bunch, but this year, they probably over-performed by beating fucking WAS.

Smells like MIN’s division now but a) gotta see if Bridgewater is up to it, and b) how many years does AP have left.

        • willbest

Bridgewater isn’t. Packers will get Jordy back, and this down year will look like a missed opportunity.

          • BerwynBomber

I won’t argue Bridgewater — I need to be convinced too — but I think the Cheese is taking a step back. Yeah, Rodgers will keep them relevant but they seem like a team in incremental decline. They’re a good organization but they ain’t the Pats.
Btw, wonder if they regret that Cobb contract.

          • willbest

He isn’t the 1A they thought he was but he is a solid 2. Problem is they didn’t have a 1. Also, I don’t think their D is getting any younger. Peppers could fall off a cliff next year, but who knows that guy is a freak.

          • BerwynBomber

I’m thinking Peppers is on a one year contract so he might be gone — kinda remember there being doubts if he would be back heading into this year.

The other thing the Cheese have to worry about is Matthews. He is starting to get up there now. (The ONE thing they did do positively this year was work in some young guys into their secondary. No future Pro Bowlers but potentially competent starters or 3rd down package guys.)

But MIN’s D seems like the foundation most worth betting on. It’s young and talented. Plus, Zimmer is behind it.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

Mathews getting old? dude will only be 30 next year. he still got a few very good years in him unless injuries catch up to him

          • BillW

I hate the Packers but hating them and wanting to believe they are in decline doesn’t make it so

They were maybe a coin flip from playing in the NFCC with so many holes. I assume they are better, not worse, next year

Of course, we will be too. It will be fun!

          • AlbertInTucson

Have to reluctantly agree.with the “Not in decline” assessment.

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, it could be a loaded as hell division. Even DET might play better next year, though they have to wait on Megatron’s decision.

  • BerwynBomber

Missed most of NE/KC but just read Reid at clock mgmt. issues at the end. Surprise!

    • willbest

It was horrible. That and Alex Smith overthrowing open receivers 5-6 times on the deep ball. That game could have been so different.

      • BerwynBomber

        Glad I missed it.

        • AlbertInTucson

Smith’s average per attempt was under 5 yards.

          • BillW

In the playoffs qbs sink or rise to their true levels eventually.

Aaron almost carried a weak Packer team. Palmer was not good

So what happens next week if it’s Cam v Carson? Winner gets to lose SB 50 I guess

          • willbest

To Brady you mean? Because Oz and Peyton are not better than Cam or Carson.

          • AlbertInTucson

Brady/Belicheat got away with an ill-advised throw/call late in THEIR game and got bailed when it bounce right to Edelman.

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, I can’t see how the Pats don’t win this thing. As much as I’m sick the fuck out of them.

Then again, maybe this year is all about Newton and culminates with him hoisting the Lombardi.

          • BillW

I can handle that due to Rivera and Peanut. AZ is next but I can’t see them beating either Carolina or Seattle

Can’t support NE or Pitts. I can root for Denver over Seattle.

            Just glad GB is gone

          • BerwynBomber

I can support PIT and SEA. Most of the rest I’m indifferent to except NE. I’ve been on the Anyone But NE train for a couple of years now.

          • BillW

Sea OK I guess but Pete gets on my nerves

Pitt though – don’t like Roethlisberger and Joey Porter seems like an as shore for a coach.

          • Irish Sweetness

Palmer wasn’t really good this year anyway .. 84 QBR?

  • BearDown100393

Time to fire Thompson & Grimace. Trade Rodgers for picks. Burn it all down. Might take years to get out of the cellar but worth it. And go hire Lovie Smith.

    • beninnorcal

No way they should deal Rodgers, he’s the whole show there.

      • BearDown100393

  • AlbertInTucson

BTW, Green Bay, two drives with plays totallng in the TEENS that result in field goal attempts usually come back to bite you in the butt.

  • BillW

My theory that in the playoffs go with the better qb was proven wrong. Happily

I don’t see how GB is not one of the favorites next year with Jordyn back and some help in the draft. That they came this close to another NFCC game is really something

Arizona didn’t deserve of win. But neither did GB.

    • willbest

I don’t know. I think having the pick 6 overturned was a gut punch to the Cards.

      • BillW

I missed most of the game at a party with non football people. Luckily the wife wanted to leave early so I got to see about half the 4th and all two plays of OT

      • BerwynBomber

That sucked but it was a legit call. The problem is with the rule itself. Never been a huge fan of hands to the face when applied to linemen.

        • AlbertInTucson

Looked like Rucker got one in the face on the same play but the offsetting would have nullified the pick 6 anyway.

        • willbest

I wish there was a good way to determine accidental vs. deliberate, but there isn’t.

  • MB30SD

Ok, so quick late night snack (that I don’t usually do… no eating past 6 or 7 unless it’s not food).

This is quick, easy, and bad ass:

    * 2 big eggs

    * These tortillas (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51iQaarM3EL._SX425SX425_SY319_CR,0,0,425,319_PIbundle-12,TopRight,0,0_SX425_SY319_CR,0,0,425,319_SH20_.jpg)

    * jalapenos
    * grilled corn, cut off the cob
    * siracha
    * good chez

    – Get pan very hot and put the eggs on (sunny side up)
    – Grind some himilayan pink sel over the top (lightly)
    – Sprinkle the corn all over the egg so it cooks into the egg
    – Cover and let the yoke steam until it JUST starts to get a white film in one place (don’t overcook, you want the yoke runny)

    – heat the tortilla in another pan and add chez all over it
    – when it just starts to melt add the jalepenos to taste
    – do the same with siracha
    – put the egg over the top of it all
    – break the yokes and tilt to run all over it
    – wrap up and eat like a burrito

    you’re welcome.

  • Cartman voice
.the. tears, the tears, they taste sp goood!
    Bdebsebde that’s all folks!

  • AlbertInTucson

Andy Reid not stopping the clock on the 1 with 3 minutes left and down by 2 TDs was mind-numbingly ignorant.

Attention coaches. There’s a time to save timeouts and a time to SAVE TIME!

Once the seconds have ticked off the clock you can’t put them back on.

    • BillW

Often I wonder what’s worse. Missing the playoffs or making them only to lose before the championship game

      • AlbertInTucson

        I vote “Missing”.

        • BillW

Me too esp when it’s been several years. But losing a game in the playoffs is really frustrating. (from what I remember)

          • willbest

It is when its an MCL tear on your starting QB while your D did their part.

          • BillW

See. That’s the last one. I was there and actually left early (I never do that) because I was disgusted we had no real backup qb.

      • BerwynBomber

Losing the SB in a nailbiter I would have to imagine, though the Cheese’s meltdown in the NFCC last year had to be damn close to that on the pain meter.

    • BerwynBomber

Another bonehead move was McCarthy challenging that one Fitzgerald reception and losing a second half TO for it. As it turned out, it didn’t matter, and also, the sometimes overrated McCarthy did outcoach Arians, BUT it was still a bonehead move.

      • BillW

By all rights going on 4th should have been a killer. Then Arians makes up for it with the pass the next series

GB ties the game with 5 seconds on the clock when the ball is snapped. The Inc pass gave gb at least 30 seconds. Dumb call of a game full of them

        Even though AZ won

      • SC Dave

McCarthy outcoaches Arians, and *which* coach is overrated?

    • willbest

Before this year I might have agreed with you, but there has been all kinds of phantom time added to clocks and all kinds of time vanishing for no reason. I get that its important to give people with disabilities jobs, but game clock supervisor isn’t one of those jobs.

      • AlbertInTucson

Those are exceptions and done by officials, not coaches.

Reid should/could have kept those precious second on the clock.

And Arians should have damn well let them tick away instead of calling a pass.

    • CanadaBear

Reid has been the worst coach at time mgmt for the last decade and a half. I have no idea why he doesn’t have an assistant take care of that for him.

  • Cormonster

    Good night, cheese.

Awesome throw by Vadgers to tie, though. Insane throw.

    • BerwynBomber

I could not believe he got the ball there.

      • Trac

That throw was a hope and a prayer before it left his hand. I’m with big dick on this one. I fault the Defense there, it should have never been caught.

        • BerwynBomber

Not the point. Both of Rodgers’s Hail Mary throws this year were insane and by nature those plays are hope and prayers. The debate about what Ds should have been set in the end zones is something else.

Christman went on to do NFL color commentary and Harder was an NFL Umpire.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

so i have an issue with teams Hail Mary defenses. When Hail Mary’s are successful it is because a wide receiver is in front of the defense. So why don’t teams play zone in the endzone. Seriously, each receiver that makes it to the endzone should have a defender in front and a defender behind them. This is not hard. But over and over again, we see 2-3 defender trying to for the jump ball with the receiver in front of them.

    • MB30SD

It was absurd. Fucking ridiculous. And with PP back there no less. Smh

    • BearDown100393

          • AlbertInTucson

My late father told us tales of his depression-era youth and said he used to play a practical joke that consisted of leaving paper bag full of Dog Shit on somebody’s from stoop, lighting the bag and ringing the door bell before running to a hiding place with a view. On a good day, they got to watch someone open the door and upon viewing the small burning bag, try to stamp out the fire with their foot.

          • MB30SD

yep, know it well. Was still a prank when I was a kid. Never did it, I was always a pretty good kid.

  • BillW

Here’s something to consider. The Bears proposed changing OT so both teams get a possession even if first team scores a TD

    Packers voted against it

    • AlbertInTucson

They may have a different opinion after last night.

    • Captain Obvious

      BWAHAHAHAHA!

The college system is so much better than the NFL system.

      • Doc Nitty

        I hate the college system.

      • AlbertInTucson

The college OT system is an absolute TRAVESTY upon the game of football.

As right as they get PI, that’s how WRONG they get OT.

    • BerwynBomber

Yeah, both of the Cheese’s elimination from the playoffs the last two years involved OTs in which Rodgers never took the field. In fairness, if that happened to Peyton and Indy back in the day there would been a national media outcry over it and Rules Committee change.

  • BearDown100393

Did anyone else laugh watching Aaron Rodgers scream like a little girl over the coin non-flip?

  • BerwynBomber

DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog “Chiefs had every chance to be in game & beat Patriots. But that style of offense just isn’t sustainable. KC needs explosiveness on offense.”

True but I don’t know if KC’s D played all that well either. But NE seems to do that to every highly-advertised D; i.e., make it look mediocre.

  • Doc Nitty

First, what are the odds that a coin wouldn’t flip? And second, how in the world does the zebra (who probably has vision problems) see that the coin doesn’t flip? How crazy. Every week something controversial happens in the NFL. Just leaves me baffled sometimes.

    • Doc Nitty

      Pleasant outcome notwithstanding.

    • burntorangenavyblue

The coin flip I wouldn’t call controversial, it’s people who wear tin hats and are being sore losers. A coin flip IS 50/50 no matter what is done. Unless we start using D&D dice, then too bad.

      • Doc Nitty

I agree. It was weird and people are talking about it, is all I mean. And it clearly impacted the outcome.

        • burntorangenavyblue

Well, ANY overtime coin flip affects outcome technically, but not anymoreso than any other given OT games in the past. 50/50. No way you can blame outcome on a coin flip.

          • Doc Nitty

Why are we arguing here? In all your time watching football have you ever seen that happen? It’s weird. Can we agree on that?

    • willbest

I have a coin that large and heavy and I can get it to not flip with regularity

      • Doc Nitty

Yeah if you’re trying to not make it flip.

        • burntorangenavyblue

It is possibly to accidently not flip the coin when you’re trying.

          • Doc Nitty

            Obviously. It happened last night.

          • burntorangenavyblue

Your above statement seems like as if the “coin flip” was intentional.

          • Doc Nitty

willbest said ” he can get it to not flip”. Im saying that if you’re trying to flip it, as the ref presumably was, what are the odds that it wouldn’t flip?

  • willbest

That is a good way for Chico to start

  • burntorangenavyblue

The fact that GB needed two absolutely lucky (more like dumb luck) hail marys to go into overtime to stay in it proves this: Packers offense does not deserve another shot with the way that OT is set up. They should be mad for allowing their defense to give up that huge play by Fitzgerald.

  • willbest

Way to gut punch Seattle D by destroying their no RB td in 18 months

  • willbest

So the Seattle that likes to play the Rams showed up

  • BerwynBomber

Horrible throw/decision by Wilson, BUT in only two plays SEA’s O-Line got destroyed. Something to keep an eye on given how bad their O-line was earlier in the year.

  • BerwynBomber

Wilson has to get rid of that ball. Throw it at Lynch’s feet. Save yourself from the huge sack.

  • Doc Nitty

Panthers are making the Seahawks look like A JV TEAM

    • BerwynBomber

Yup. Both lines are dominating. Keep that up these next three games and they will be SB winners.

  • BerwynBomber

DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog From my picks column: “Bold prediction: Panthers beat them up.”

Good pick thus far. I thought this would be the most competitive game (I didn’t think the Cheese would be competitive w/ ARI). This thing might be decided by halftime.

    • willbest

If panthers can let the giants back in down 4 scores they can let the Seahawks back in

    Sherman is losing it

The Vikes would have been the better game

DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog “2015 Panthers remind me of 2006 Bears. Nobody believed they would make the Super Bowl until their plane landed in Miami.”

Except with a MUCH better QB?

    • willbest

Sexy Rexy didn’t fail us!!!! We failed him!

      • BerwynBomber

I still shake my head over his small hands and the botched C/QB exchanges. You could count on one or two of those every damn game (and of course he delivered a couple in the SB too). Strong arm though. He had a rifle.

    • MB30SD

all lovie had to do was play neckbeard and TJ for the entire game and we would have won another SB.

THAT is the reason (and the rest) why I hate lovie so much. Useless fucking cuntbag.

      • CanadaBear

That’s BS. Lovie got burned on a long bomb because D. Manning totally fucked it up. After that, Lovie played the Tampa 2 prevent the rest of the game. They threw about 100 little delay passes over the middle for the rest of the game. Each one seemed to pick up a first down.

        • MB30SD

show me TJ’s stats vs benson’s please.

  • willbest

What is the biggest blowout in a playoff game in the SB era?

    • BerwynBomber

Didn’t the pre-Eli NYG destroy MIN one year in the NFCC something like 49-3? And then the same Giants team was completely housed in the SB by the Ravens?

Way to go, Girly Thor! This game is ridiculous.

Greg Olsen trade remains the most upsetting Bears personnel decision of the last 20 years. Top tier talent. Great man. And Bears said, “Eh.”

    The Bears are “eh”.

    • Trac

I think Jeff really liked his hair. Actually, if Cutler hadn’t run Turner out of town, Olsen would still be a Bear.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

are you actually advocating Turner was any good to begin with???

        • MB30SD

seriously trac, I think you need to go to confession right now. Wait, is that you people or am I fucking that up?

          • Trac

Don’t taze me bro. I was leading the “trade him for a bag of balls” chorus back in the day. Jeff was always in love with Olsen in his Bear tighty whitey’s. Remember his “Olsen needs to succeed for the Bears to succeed” thread? Smh

        • Trac

Not at all but he was a casualty of Cuttys temper tantrums. I may have been one of the “girl thor” founding fathers if memory serves me well. Jeff would get so pissed at us when we all wanted to trade him.

          • SC Dave

I never wanted him trded. Never. I said it was stupid at the time. And i was right.

    • MB30SD

      ridiculous.

      • Doc Nitty

Even Angelo has been quouted as saying he fucked that one up.

    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Bears should never have traded G-Reg because this league is about accumulating weapons and he’s a great one. ABAW. Always Be Adding Weapons.

can we please stop this ridiculous bullshit. The dude has gotten SO much better since he was on our team. Dude was like a 5 out of 10 back then.

An 8 when he showed up every 2-3 games and a 1 or a 2 the other games. We did exactly what we should have in our situation. All this displaced fellating is making me nauseous.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

he was slowly coming into his own when he was with the Bears, then Martz happened

      • This. Martz has a rigid offense that he doesn’t tailor to his personnel. He doesn’t want TEs who can catch passes, so Olsen wasn’t used.

        • AlbertInTucson

” He doesn’t want TEs who can catch passes…”

Rather have an apartment building with a tight end’s number.

          Like Brandon Manumaleuna.

    • AlbertInTucson

I always championed Olsen as a Bear.

      • Trac

Mount thy stallion Sir Al, we shall fight till thy death!

        • AlbertInTucson

That horse it long gone from that barn.

    • Doc Nitty

I loved him as a bear. Thought it was s bullshit trade then and my ass is still sore over it now.

      • MB30SD

        BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    • Trac

How quickly they forgeth. All defenders had to do was look his way and he’d go down. Smh

      • BerwynBomber

And he couldn’t block. I thought he was a weapon but acting like we got rid of an all-world TE is ludicrous.

And lest we forget, Olsen used to play with Cutler and now plays with Newton. Big difference.

        • Trac

Hey, if a defender missed his assignment or if he had open ground in front of him then yeah, he was good to go but “news flash”, tight ends need to be able to block and carry tacklers.

        • Doc Nitty

Olsen was a primary reason we beat Seattle in the playoffs in 2010. The dude had money hands, took some huge hits over the middle, and had football in his genes (dad was a coach). He was raw as a blocker but he had potential and you could tell he was tough and smart. I don’t think anybody thought he was Tony Gonzales but he should NOT have been traded.

          • Trac

Angelo screwed the pooch because you don’t draft a speedy TE in order to say we’re “all set” at WR. Olsen was a round peg in a square hole as far as I’m concerned.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

This highlights the problem of the Bears at the time. A successful OC could/would have adjusted to the weapons they had instead of trying to force something into the wrong hole. That’s never pretty and rarely successful.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

the problem I had with the trade was we had so few offensive weapons at the time, and he was replaced with the likes of Brandon Manumaleuna, Kellen Davis, Spaeth who aren’t offensive threats of any kind.

      • MB30SD

        So this. Dude was a 6’4″ 240lb 4.5 pussy

      • SC Dave

Horseshit. Cutler routinely set the guy up to get hammered and he caught it anyway.

        • Trac

          Good WR, average TE.

      • Irish Sweetness

His YAC was 0.7 as I recall. For any Packer fans reading, that’s less than a yard. ‘Less’ means ‘smaller than’.

      • SC Dave

Whatever it was, it didnt work. Not the first time this season.

    • BearDown100393

Don’t be too hard on the guy. Draft Kings writes the speeches.

            probably. smh

          • Trac

For realz. She gave an interview after they made it and almost didn’t take the role because she didn’t agree with the movies message. Bunch of her fans/media gave her a hard time for taking the role.

My wife filled me in after I told her I watched it. I have no clue where the women’s find all the scoop on these actors. I’m not working her hard enough, obviously. Hahaha.

If that’s Denvers 2ndhalf game plan game over

  • Captain Obvious

I don’t want to jinx it, but the way this game is going, I stand a good chance of being 4/4 straight and will most definitely be 4/4 ATS.

I should gamble. 8/8 ATS over the past two weeks.

    • That Guy

I was 0/4 last week. I’m 3/3 so far and I picked Denver. I’m not feeling great about that choice now.

  • BearDown100393

  • BearDown100393

These guys look like idiots when dancing in the end zone.

  • SC Dave

What the fuck kind of a call was that?!?!

    • BearDown100393

      The Manning Wins rule.

      • SC Dave

What?!? That was a fumble.. Broncos should have had 6 more with an extra point to kick!!!

        • BearDown100393

Who knows. Somebody sneezed on somebody else, an elbow might have touched the turf while not completely controlling the football while one toe might have hit a sideline and the referee allowed play to continue because the ball carrier might not have been down on contact…… (yadda yadda yadda)

        • Irish Sweetness

          And Toussaint “shouldn’t” have fumbled.

      • SC Dave

No, the Anything for fucking Pittsburgh Rule.

  • SC Dave

    Why no td!?!

  • willbest

It was better for broncos that that wasn’t a td

    • Another Guy

Umm, how? They’d be up by 14. With less than 2 minutes to play. And no Pitt timeouts.

      • willbest

1 minute up 10 points with 0 timeouts vs 1:50 up 14 with 2 steeler timeouts

      • wreckinball

        Weather will be a factor
Brady can still throw Peyton can’t
Belichik will get Denver reeling and never let up

        • Irish Sweetness

This should happen – Osweiler was playing them last time. Manning is lucky to be there, if it wasn’t fort Toussaint’s fumble, that was the Steelers’ game. Harsh. One turnover and it cost them bigtime.

          • AlbertInTucson

Game’s ONLY turnover. Crushing time for it.

  • Irish Sweetness

Carolina covers ….. aaaaaand the Steelers cover. Thank you Mike Tomlin for the FG !!

And I was complaining about those 7.5 spreads.

    PAYMENT>

    • AlbertInTucson

It was the right move for the situation.

  • BearDown100393

Manning really ought to be named an honorary Conehead.

  • Captain Obvious

There it is. Pitt covers. I’m 4/4 again this week straight up, 4/4 ATS against the spread again, too.

    • Irish Sweetness

      That’s payment in extremis.

  • wreckinball

Steelers couldn’t seem to cash in
I thought they had upper hand most of the game
    One fumble and one drive

    • BearDown100393

An activated Antonio Brown and reasonably healthy (because he never is) Roethlisberger would have been enough.

  • The GP

I wonder if he is aware his career in the NFL is now over

Bears should never have traded G-Reg because this league is about accumulating weapons and he’s a great one. ABAW. Always Be Adding Weapons.

@dabearsblog that’s why I hope bears keep 83 around he can be weapon

Enough. Trading Greg Olsen got us Brandon Marshall. And Bennett could indeed be a weapon if he wasn’t crazy. Why wasn’t he a weapon THIS year? Why was he on the bench when he’s being paid 6 million dollars?

    • BearDown100393

The Red Sox probably shouldn’t have traded Ruth for cash to save a broadway musical. Boston got over it. It took a century but they did.

  • BearDown100393

The past 2 weekends have been entertaining. And yet have also provided optimism that perhaps the Bears are not as far off the competitive mark as personally believed. This is a critical off season however confidence grows that GM Pace and HC Fox have the football IQ wherewithal and experience to position the team into the playoffs. From observing these playoffs, league parity through the salary cap has driven teams toward mediocrity. Poorly managed teams fail on the field regardless. The Bears don’t fall into the category. Chicago will trend upward.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed BUT it will be a tougher division next year. Even DET came on strong in the second half, and short of Megatron retiring, they’ll be a better team next year.

  • Shady

Well the NFL got the AFC Championship matchup it wanted as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will meet one more time.

But what is interesting about this matchup from a betting perspective, is the fact the No. 2 seeded Patriots have opened as 3-point road favorites against the No. 1 seeded Broncos. The total opened at 44.5. This is a case of Manning clearly being on the decline and Brady looking like the same old Brady.

Meanwhile in the NFC, the No. 1 seeded Carolina Panthers opened as 3-point home favorites against the No. 2 seeded Arizona Cardinals. The total opened at 47.

    • willbest

If the Steelers had Antonio Brown that game would have been ugly for the Broncos. Big Ben had all day to throw. You cannot beat Brady without a pass rush.

Incidentally that was the second game where the better QB lost

The line on the panthers is more about the panthers unwillingness to play 60 minutes. If that game ended 38-10 they would be a touchdown favorite. Game is going to come down to what kind of Carson Palmer shows up.

  • BerwynBomber

Brady/Manning? Again? SMH. It’s like being given the choice between rooting for the Nazis or the Japanese in a WWII movie.

Don’t care who wins the NFCC but hope whoever it is wins the SB.

    • AlbertInTucson

      It’s only their 17th matchup.

      • willbest

4 in playoffs. Meaning 12 in regular season. Do you realize how ridiculous that is for non division opponents. They play each other every 3 years for 5 but that means in 7 of the other 10 seasons, they ended up the same rank in their division, usually #1

    • willbest

I don’t know… Could have saved ourselves Korea, Vietnam and our present day conflict with China if Japanese hadn’t attacked us (and we had left the Asians alone to kill each other). they probably would have been less destructive to China than Mao ended up being but that is speculation.

  • Doc Nitty

This is Brady’s tenth AFC championship game. TENTH!

    • BerwynBomber

And if DEN has lost today that would have been Manning’s tenth one and done in the playoffs. TENTH!

      • Doc Nitty

        Tenth?

        • BerwynBomber

Yup. He’s had nine of them.

    • That Guy

Pats are going to the AFC championship for the 10th time in 15 years. 8/16 teams in the AFC haven’t gone to the championship even once during that span.

In the past 13 years, only 4 QBs have started the Superbowl for the AFC. Brady, Manning, Rothlisberger and Flacco. (Rich Gannon was the last in ’02).

I look at the young QBs in the league and I wonder whether this is a golden age or whether there will be a next generation of greats.
