  • willbest

Howard and Amos seem 95% developed now. Nick is 3rd on the depth chart. Don’t know how much of him we will see. Guards/centers aren’t really sexy to watch and you have to really pay attention to see them develop. That leaves Callahan and Floyd. I am going to go with the guy that is rough around the edges but made plays versus black Shea. I am curious why Glenn or Hall wasn’t on here.

  • DaCoaches Mustache

I’d like to throw my name in the ring to become Floyd’s personal sammich man. If he’s not eating a sammich right now, he should be. The fella needs a sammich.

  • CanadaBear

I voted for Nick because I thought he would be the least likely to have any votes. Fuck this excited to watch develop BS, win some fucking games!

  • Bears-4-Ever

Floyd is my number one. We need a stable and consistently good Defense, like the Bears of Old.
Might take a few years to get all the parts in place though, but Floyd should be one of them.

    • CanadaBear

I hope he turns into a player but right now he looks like a stiff.

          • Irish Sweetness

I like his ceiling. He can play the run, he’s a huge obstacle to a QB when he’s pass rushing .. huge catch radius to disrupt the passing game downfield. Just needs experience and he’s a PBer.

            It’s really good.

“Guests” come to Westworld, and be inside it like a MMORPG. They blow off quests, they grief other players and the train brings you into the center of the “map” (which is a real valley) and you start in an old west town.

Most of the guests start off by fucking the hookers senseless. Some of them shoot the hookers afterwards, in a nod to GTA.

But after they drain their balls repeatedly into these synth hookers (which apparently are indistinguishable from real women) – the players get bored and start moving out from the center of the map where the encounters get more violent and action packed and much harder to win at.

The genius behind the AI is played by Anthony Hopkins, who is attempting to not bring any Hannibal Lecter to the role. He has made a robot of himself as a boy and takes it out into the desert and imparts his wisdom about life to it. He’s also decided to structurally alter the AI in a fundamental way which has the side effect of allowing them to have a long term memory. Which is driving them insane.

Interesting. She never confirmed it happened. She was given the power to elect Hillary, and she declined to.

The source of the leak is supposedly Paul Ryan. NBC was in the process
of editing out Billy Bush before going live but it was leaked before
they could finish. Oh and lets not forget NBC paid Trump a million+ an
episode for the Apprentice for years knowing all of this. Trump is
going after the GOP on twitter this morning. Ryan had to believe that would happen so I have no idea what his end game is other than the complete destruction of the GOP.

            Of course, over in
wikileaks land we learn the the State Department, Clinton Super PACs,
Clinton Campaign, and various media personalities have been colluding in
violation of thousands of FEC regulations. Including one of the moderators for one of the GOP debates. And by the way, Hillary vouched for the
authenticity of these e-mails in the debate when she defended as
            statement she made within them.

I don’t recall Shea ever destroying anyone in college. And if a draftee can’t do it in college, he’s not going to have that mentality, acceleration, instincts in the NFL.

Home runs come from everywhere, though they are more likely in round 1. The problem is busts are a lot harder to come by in round 1 than anywhere else too. In the last 6 drafts we have had exactly 1 first rounder worthy of starting on any NFL roster. And considering how um… suboptimal our own roster is. That is a pretty impressive feat.

running – good, hit holes, fights for extra yardage.
pass catching – good – I have not seen him drop one yet
pass protection – good (good meaning he has not blatantly missed a block that I saw)

Back from a visa run to Lao, finally got to watch the game.

    1. I’m not hating Brian Hoyer. I’m not liking him either. He’s Kyle Orton without the accuracy. He also has no balls. This is something that gets Cutty in trouble. Having huge testicles. In order to hit receivers downfield, one is required to have (a) balls (b) some degree of accuracy. Cutty isn’t very accurate on the rainbows, but at least he tries. We have no deep game. Meredith and AJ excel at this type of attack, but they don’t have the supply.

    2. Another person that famously has no balls is Vic Fangoria. 5 sacks without even trying. Any QB with 6 fucking seconds to throw is going to see T.Y. Hilton open at SOME point. Fangio is killing us. He’s either trying to lose on purpose or he’s a just a stubborn ass idiot.

    3. Eddie had a bad strip too, not mentioned. Lucky Sitton got that back. Paulsen’s holding call on Howard’s TD. 4 points right there.

    4. The Bear’s defense is missing Leonard Floyd – easily our most under-rated player, along with Hall and Glenn. The three starting corners should be Hall, Glenn, Callahan, and Porter should be the backup safety. I see Prosinski was the leading tackler in that game, why is he playing though?

    5. Two more guys to go beside Akiem Hicks and the defense is fixed. I know Goldman has his fans, we’ll see.The players in the secondary just need time, and Porter needs to sit..

Yeah, Hoyer is the most accurate Bears passer since … well, probably ever. Granted, it’s a lot of underneath stuff, but I would be surprised if any of our QB’s ever led the league in completion percentage, as Hoyer is now.

And I don’t remember Neckbeard being incredibly accurate. Nor did he heave the ball very far himself.

  • Cody Whitehair for sure. Love watching a stud OL. So much fun to destroy teams at the LOS.

  • Irish Sweetness

Just watched the first three quarters three times … and then watched the final quarter. I think the jury is in on the conundrum of the suddenly-effective offense – and it’s not Brian Hoyer. He’s just hitting all his 85%-chance-of-completions. He’s your automatic-checkdown to the nearest receiver guy. Fine. Anyone can do that. It’s the replacement – albeit by injury – of the ‘top’ RB and the stud draft-pick that have engineered hope. Cam will catch anything thrown near him. Kevin won’t. Jordan will run through people and extend plays after contact. Jeremy won’t. Temper their contribution with the poor defenses we’ve played the last two weeks, and it’s hardly a turnaround in the team’s fortunes.

But without Howard, Hoyer would be nothing. It all goes through him – the running game AND the passing game. If he was facing down Langford and White like Cutty was …. man, imagine that. I can’t wait to see Cutty air it out with AJ and Cam on either side, Royal in the slot … but with the weapon of Howard this time. Blitz on? Quick toss to Howard. First down. Howard will open up the whole field for Cutty when he gets back.

I hope all this chuff about “it’s Hoyer’s job to lose” is all just speculation. Because he will lose it … when he plays a good team … and the ball needs to go downtown.

It was penalties and no-balls defense that beat us. You could point at Paulsen’s holding call that negated Howard’s TD. Cam got stripped on a potential game-winning drive. But getting 4 sacks without trying? Granted, Willie Young had a day eating the lunch of probably one of the worst-looking tackles int he league. But Fangio has to turn the dogs loose when Floyd gets back. Freeman is great at blitzing. It’s just painful to watch the designed added-value Fangio gives to opposing QBs.

Thankfully, in another sense, he will guarantee us a high pick this year. No balls, you see?

Penalties we can fix, him we have to fire.

    • willbest

Cutler’s injury is far more serious than they let on. You might not see him this year.

      • Sactowns#1

Or ever again. But hey, we’ll always have that 2010/2011 NFC North championship game. Au revior mon cheri.

      • Hoyer is due for a bad game down the line.

I mean, no one can keep up those stats he’s posting up.

That’s when Cutty’s thumb will cease being up his arse.

    • You think Cutty is going to give you 300 yds, 2 TD, NO turnover games?

      Think again.

      Via Biggsy

‘Hoyer hasn’t been INTd in 140 attempts; his only giveaway was a fmb vs
Cowboys. Cutler has been picked off once every 30 attempts as Bear’

If you think our D sucks, then you probably want an O that doesn’t turn it over, so the opponents can score more.

      It’s simple LOGIC.

Same reason I didn’t want your man want Fitz. TURNOVERS LOSE GAMES.

If Meredith doesn’t fumble that completion, we likely march down the field with those aforementioned dink-dunks and win.

    • MB30SD

Jesus Irish. I can’t do it all, but here’s just a couple:

“He’s just hitting all his 85%-chance-of-completions.”

hahahaha, yes, it’s called being a good QB (by that stat alone)

“Cam will catch anything thrown near him

…and then drop it. He needs to fix that, like…. NOW otherwise he’s just not a good option. Getting us 75% of the way there, then giving the game away doesn’t count.

      etc…

      • When Brady and Brees complete all those underneath passes, they’re being smart by taking what the D gives.

When Hoyer does it without throwing INTs, or getting sacked, and scoring TDs, he has no balls!

        Welcome to Chicago, Hoyer!

        • willbest

Brady and Brees also throw the 70 yard bombs.

          • Peyton proved last season you don’t need 70 yd bombs to win in the NFL.

If you give me the choice between INTs and strip sacks and the occasional 50yd jump ball, or what Hoyer is doing now, give me the latter.

And Hoyer’s long this season is 64, btw.

          • willbest

His long is actually somewhere around 25, the other 40 were after the catch. Cutler’s long is somewhere around 43. Just so we are comparing the same thing.

And yes, Peyton proved if you have 6 pro-bowlers on Defense, they can carry a carcass across the finish line.

          • I’ m pretty sure Hoyer can heave it 43 yds.

If he would be inclined to just throw 40 yd jump balls to Alshon, one of them would connect eventually.

He’d also match Cutty’s INTs that way.

            No thanks.

          • willbest

Cutler generally doesn’t throw picks on the 40 yard heaves down to AJ unless its desperation time. Its usually that shit into the middle where he doesn’t see the LB coming across.

          • MB30SD

because he has shit field vision

But they can go downtown too, let’s not put a journeyman that’s been on 6 teams in the same sentence as Brady or Brees …

      • Irish Sweetness

How many balls did Cam drop against Indy? I didn’t see one.

Okay, throwing all the high-percentage stuff could actually be seen as a GOOD point, so I’ll grant you that.

      Lol

  • BuddhaJoe

I would say Howard or Floyd but those are the obvious ones so I think I have to go Amos. We haven’t had a bad ass safety since Mike Brown so that would be the best development for me.

    • I don’t think Amos can develop into a badass S like Brown.

He just doesn’t have the ball hawking instincts, quick twitch, or hands.

On the other hand, for as hard as he hits, he seems durable.

      He’s a solid “B” safety that’ll do his job.

That’s why we need a complementary FS that is a ballhawk and can cover WRs from time to time so we can use more blitzes

      • BuddhaJoe

Oh you’re right, thinking he could be that guy is wishful thinking. But I think he can be good, and that should be enough if the rest of the D works out. Would be nice though.

        • He’s def good. and plenty of teams actually use that hybrid S/LB type, so it can work, as long as we play to his strengths.

And if we get more pressure, maybe he INTs some, but I sorta view him as a young Donte Whitner/Hitner for now.

      • BerwynBomber

I’d quibble a bit with the “B” grade — he’s more like a C+ to me — but if we could somehow get a crack at Jabril Peppers in the draft then Amos would be gone in a heartbeat, or at least dropped immediately down the depth chart.

I still think we try to convert Fuller into an FS, especially with the emergence of Callahan and the potential of Hall.

        • MB30SD

I think he can develop into a perfectly fine SS. Agree with butch… what we really need is a durable mike drown or earl Thomas at free. A guy that is tge strength of our d backfield.

God knows, I’ve only been begging for that for 10 years or so now

Let’s talk about old shit again. Sun-Times bringing up Martellus Bennett trash talking Cutler earlier this year, again, . But here we are 1-4 and I for one, always was a supporter of Cutler, but times have changed. I have moved past that and want Hoyer the Destroyer as my starting QB, for next 2 years. We draft his successor next year and he helps groom the guy. I cannot blindly sit back and say Jay is the best option. He is not. Agree with Bennett 100%. Here we have Hoyer and the team. 1+1=3. Cutler? The anti-leader. 1+1=-1. He sucked the life out of this team. Winners
win. Let’s move on. Trying to surround Cutler with supporters has cost us Bennett and Marshall. That’s more crap that shouldn’t have happened. Those two are all pro caliber. I believe we can win our share of games with Hoyer, as the Defense gets healthy. Bennett already has 2, 100 yd games and 4 TDs….with 2nd and 3rd string QBs. Regarding Hoyer, 500+ yards of offense is good enough for me. That wins games, with any semblance of a D. Did he miss an open Alshon for a TD? Yes, so did Cutler last year. Move on. Hoyer will make this team pull together. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/martellus-bennett-rips-bears-qb-jay-cutler-to-espn/

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

It’s not worth it my man. Sit back and enjoy the rebuild. Pace is gonna make or break this franchise in the next draft. I’m looking forward to developing the roster and the draft.

Hope so. Go Cubs. This Biaz kid is special.

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

Don’t let Murph hear you. Lol

          • Joecashflow

I think the rest of the year will be interesting and building some momentum hopefully with Hoyer. Almost typed Orton… Cutler gets released in off season.

      • We can’t enjoy it, cuz Cutler is still lurking around like that guy in a raincoat in the back of a pornshop, making everyone uneasy.

It’s not out of the question that POX keeps him around even after Hoyer has posted thre 300 no INT games.

I have little confidence in this regime to date.

        • BerwynBomber

I still like that one about him being around well into his forties and grilling cheeseburgers on the fifty yard line.

Cutty is like a cockroach. He survives everything.

          • Joecashflow

            One rich cockroach.

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

It’s just hard knowing the season is pretty much shot already. If Cuttys thumb heas before the trade deadline, sell him.

    • Irish Sweetness

Let’s see what a front like the Vikings do to him first. He’s just played two bad defenses in a row.

      • Joecashflow

Why? I’ve been watching what the Pack does to Cutler for years. Good D pretty much always wins. Not saying the Pack has even had very good D. Cutler is dead to me.

  • BerwynBomber

Doesn’t Cutler win this poll annually?

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Bashing Cutty isn’t even a relief valve any more. Times are a changin.

      • BerwynBomber

It was low-hanging fruit. For a moment I morphed into Cheesy. Though I suppose one could put Hoyer’s name on the list, and Jay’s would not have been out of place the last half-dozen years.

  • BerwynBomber

The easy pick is Howard but I’ll go with Meredith. Kwiatkoski might be interesting too but are we sure he gets near enough to the starting line-up to see it? Development excitement could be confined to practice and camp.

  • BerwynBomber

Saw Irish’s Cutler = huge balls/Hoyer = no balls post in the thread below. But it’s really not that simple. If Cutler had huge balls he would be Philip Rivers. Instead, what he has is a golden arm and better athleticism (than Hoyer).

Hoyer will never utilize the deep threat that is Alshon (as much as Cutty) for the simple reason that he cannot (see reasons above). But the criticism of Hoyer not using Alshon enough is justified. He can still used him for fades or those boxing-out type crosses and hooks in the RZ or even on key third downs. Hopefully, he will do that if he continues to start without overcompensating and losing the sort of spread-it-around mentality that makes him effective.

    • SC Dave

Cutler also has inferior field vision, and a slower football mind leading him to hold the ball too long very often.

      • MB30SD

I heard he also has a small dick dave. Nttawwt… Right butch?

Btw, I like classic opera… but only women. Any suggestions?

    • SC Dave

Also, you cant have both. He either spreads it around, or concentrates on Alshon.

I posted numbers on pass distribution… they are trivisl to look up on pro football reference.

Alshons targets have been very consistent. And Merdith amd White were higher, not doubt becsuse Alshon is seeing lots of double teams

Hoyer can still go to Alshon more in the RZ unless he is doubled every down.

        • Teams have def doubled Alshon. That’s how Birdcage got shut down in the 2nd half of I forget which game.

Then it’s a cat and mouse game. Ds disguising whether they’re double covering Alshon.

The Colts out-foxed Birdcage in that last play.

He assumed Vontai Davis AND a safety were going to be on Alshon.

So the play was designed to go to Meridith (who was also having a big day). That was the read.

Colts then singled Alshon and dropped 4 players in the middle.

          (To also protect vs Miller)

          Game. Set. Match.

It’s only Hoyer’s 3rd game with these guys. I think ppl sometimes forget that.

He still doesn’t have the freedom to audible like a Brees or Brady if he recognizes a coverage like that.

And even if he might have the freedom, I’m not sure Hoyer has that type of acumen pre-snap.

Yeah, I’m not on Hoyer for the last play. He was fooled by the look of the coverage and went to his trusted practice mate. That happens.

But Alshon (as were BMarsh and Uni) is a devastating RZ receiver. He can box out on crosses and of course go up and get it on fades. Ordinarily I am not a huge fan of the close (inside the 10) fade, but with Alshon it’s a decent play. That shit’s his bread and butter.

It’s hard to critcise Hoyer for moving the chains. He does things we were screaming at Cutty to do for years. If you could melt he two together …

It’s also hard to argue with a 92 yd TD drive. When was the last one of
        those?

    Way to pace yourselves cubs

    • AlbertInTucson

Not to diminish the Cubs’ helluva rally but,

the Giants’ bullpen was a grease fire all season and almost kept them out of the post season.

It’s only fitting that they should be sent packing because their “fireman” showed up with gas cans.

That idiot Giant reliever, Romo, can laugh all winter now.

I’m surprised Bochte brought him out for a second night after last night.
