• Huge Bear’s Penis

Woohoo, first to say why isn’t kicker in the poll?

    • MB30SD

      Kicker, final answer!

    • Irish Sweetness

I would have voted kicker. Cost us two games for sure last season.

    • Should jumped the bucs in the 2nd!

  • MB30SD

Can’t believe I just voted TE and not safety?!?!

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

if you follow the edicts of Yonny, we only signed white TE so they don’t count as additions, so technically TE is our biggest need.

      • MB30SD

I do, and I agree. Sad really

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Agreed – I surprised myself with that one.
But DHC is headed for the Pro Bowl as a rookie, so I ain’t scurrrrrrred.

      • MB30SD

        Hahaha PSHs!!!!

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

If that fucker blocks kicks like he did in college, he won’t need to play a down as a safety to make it. Don’t know if he can cover worth a damn, but he fast.

    • Big Mike

      I’m thinking Corner..

    • willbest

At least he addressed safety. His tinkering with the oline did jack all to improve it or add depth. And TE is now objectively worse than last year.

      • Big Mike

I’m telling you something must have been wrong with Slauson.

        • Scharfinator

I sure HOPE that is the case for our evaluation of Pace.

I hope that isn’t the case for Slauson.

        • MB30SD

          Agree with this

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

You mean, being a guy that somebody other than Pace brought in?
          Yeah, I totally agree.

          • CanadaBear

I gotta agree with BM. On the surface it just doesn’t pass the smell test. I’d get it if he was making big money, skills had eroded or was high maintenance. None of that was the case. Oh well, time marches on.

          • Big Mike

I don’t think that’s his deal. Seems like it on the surface. At the same time he wants guys who are going to be around 5-6 years while we “go chase lombardis” as @Irish_Sweetness:disquslikes to say. He’s not trying to make the team worse. He’s not incompetent. There is a reason for letting Slauson go that we don’t see.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

Slauson got a little drunk at the team Christmas Party and there was an obscene incident involving a blow up Santa.

          • CanadaBear

            Who hasn’t done that?

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Turned out to be Biggs. So embarrassing.

          • SC Dave

            This

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Adding Larsen, Ramirez and Massie is pretty much the opposite of jack all. Agreed that TE is scary thin.

        • willbest

Massie won’t be better than Long at RT, Leno is still out there and can just as easily got JWebb as improve into a quality starter. Assuming Slauson was healthy Whitehair was a sidegrade. Grasu hasn’t proved anything. Ramirez replaces Monty. So yeah I guess Larsen is a big step up in the depth department. So we aren’t complete hosed if there is an injury to anybody except Leno. If he goes down we are SoL. I know Bushy wasn’t the same after his injury but its a fall from Leno to Tayo out there.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

If only there had been a quality, ready to start on Day 1, left tackle available at 11….

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

didn’t need one, cuz we have TAYO!!!

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

            ugh.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

C’mon man, Leno is average but to say Webb could have been improved to that level is disingenuous. Webb was given years to improve and it was a disaster.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

Webb was given years and the “greatest” O line coach ever.

          • Irish Sweetness

Why specifically, do you all think Tayo is shit? Because I like him? That’s silly.

Until proven otherwise, Tayo and Falesy are solid players. They’ve done nothing wrong. And how could Tayo possibly fail in the running game. He’s 350lbs!!! You physically can’t block a guy that big who bursts off the line.

          • Captain Obvious

A guy who’s 350 lbs bursts off the line with belly fat.

          • willbest

Here is what I know. Garbage plus Long on the right side was better than long plus tayo. So sayeth Fox

          • CanadaBear

I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t think Tayo or Fales are shit. I just don’t know because they have zero or almost no NFL experience. Exhibition games mean nothing to me. I can’t imagine any of the regs making this personal. As far as I know, we all like you a lot. We might not agree with ya but are bummed out when you aren’t around.

  • BC

I’m mildly concerned with WR, none of the current group has been able to stay healthy.

    • willbest

Marc Maraini brought it all year.

      • BC

        But he’s white tho…lol!

      • Scharfinator

        That doesn’t bode well….

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

    Safety and you know this.

At least the front office has acknowledged the deficiency. They tried to get Ramsey by moving up but i’m sure the asking price was steep. Hopefully it doesn’t bite us in the ass….again….

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse
    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Well, they passed on several guys down the list that would have checked all the boxes to immediately upgrade that position and they wouldn’t have had to give up a fourth to do it.
Joseph would’ve been a great fit at either spot.
Lee would have made a fantastic strong safety.
Jack would have been risky but jebus that would’ve been sexy.

Oh well, DHC is my guy – practice squad heroooos assemble!

    • Irish Sweetness

We have EIGHT safeties. I’ll have a pound on Amos and Bolden.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Omar Bolden starting at FS would mean that the rest of them died at the same time in a party bus crash on the way to a sex boat party weekend.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

awe the good old days of party busses and sex boats.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

            Skol Viqueens!

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

What better way to bond with teammates besides spit roasting a prostitute….i mean dancer

        • Irish Sweetness

          It could happen.

  • BillW

Tough choices. I went with corner though I’m not faulting Pace; he seemed to have played the draft quite well – you can’t fix all positions at once. TE is a close second
    .

    • BC

I’m wondering if corner was neglected by design. Think Fangio and Fox have decided their scheme doesn’t need lockdown corners? Maybe, just a theory.

      • Picnics with the Yakuza

Well if that’s the philosophy then mission accomplished

        Porter and Fuller are bullshit

        • Bender McLugh

wow take it eady Yak. Fuller is not bullshit………yet

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Fuller could still be something. I agree.
First player in the NFL in 20 years to record 3 picks and 2 forced fumbles in their first three games.
It’s there, he needs to get his head straight.

          • BillW

“It’s there, he needs to get his head straight.”
            Literally (“Turn around, Kyle!”)

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

There may be an assistant coach position open in the secondary, complete with megaphone.

          • MB30SD

            Then… Poof!

          • Fuller was solid after the first 3-4 games last year. Just took a little time to get the Tucker stink off of him.

He was good before Tucker ruined him, then they had to spray that off. He’s not a star, but he’s solid.

Porter had a hot start last year but looked like the shitty journeyman he is down the stretch. He worries me.

But Fangio typically developed lesser-heralded guys for a year or two before they earned PT at CB. Don’t sleep on Jacoby Glenn this year.

          • Scharfinator

All I remember is Porter picking off Rodgers and then defending a last second TD attempt to beat the Packers on T-day at Lambeau.

          • Bender McLugh

Porter looked better the last two games if I remember correctly………..lots of booze tho

        • MB30SD

I think garbage is the correct moniker

      • BillW

Well, the 85 Bears did ok with essentially one corner. But Fuller is no Frazier and while the pass rush will be improved (how could it not be?) I don’t see it reaching havoc-level. But I’m anxious to see what Fangio has in mind.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

not sure but i don’t think Fangio had the best corners when he was in SF.

      • Fangio’s D in SF was built by investing resources in front 7 and S. The CBs were all less expensive veterans or 3rd round or later draft picks.

I never thought they would invest much in CB here either. I did think they would invest more in S, and I’m guessing that’s still coming in the future. I fully expect a high pick next year to be spent on a S, unless Amos and one of the rookies both look damn good this year.

  • Irish Sweetness

Given the 8 safeties and 6 corners we have, I had to go with DE, but it could have been TE.

Jihad has the frame to put on some eight but does Bullard? Doesn’t he become a DT at that point? Hicks looks like a load. Never liked Ego, Sutton or anyone else we had at DE.

    • MB30SD

      Jesus dude…stop. smh

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

What is your obsession with Ward? He didn’t do shit in college compared to Bullard. Nothing.

      • MB30SD

        PSHs!!!!!!

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

As juniors, Ward had the better numbers, actually. Ward has two inches and almost 20 lbs on Bullard as well, although his combine numbers weren’t as good (tends to happen when your knee has crap floating around in it).
Look, I’m not going to say Bullard was a bad pick; it was probably (if you factor in jettisoning Slauson b/c we picked up Whitehead), Pace’s best pick of the draft on paper.
But Ward is a legit player, with only two years of D-1 ball under his belt.
His ceiling is probably higher than Bullards, but his floor is lower as well.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Oh hell no, now you’ve unleashed the Kraken.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I’m just saying: he is not a scrub. Illinois was a total mess this year and he still popped off the screen when you watch breakdowns of him. And his junior year, when he outperformed Bullard, he was straight out of juco. Completely raw.
Last year, OSU had to double him 3/4 of the time. Iowa didn’t and he was a one man wrecking crew.
The Raiders got a good one.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Bullard was a TFL machine. Its weird but so many outlets called Ward one of the worst picks of the draft in 2nd rd. He seems young and hungry and dedicated so we’ll see I guess.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

He tore up the Senior Bowl – Marinelli coached him up and he was a beast. We will see for sure…I’m sure most of those idiots don’t spend 2 minutes looking at the first round guys, much less anybody deeper in the draft. It’s stats and maybe a highlight video (which are the fucking worst…but I digress).

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I don’t know where you saw people knocking him as a pick. Raiders got high grades other than for picking up Cook (and I think that’s dumb – I think he was a steal).

        • Bears have a lot of big DL guys who can’t penetrate.

They didn’t have anybody like Bullard unless CornWash magically pans out.

To put this another way, look at Fangio’s line in SF:

They have 5-6 guys who can play the NT and Ray Edwards role. The big run-stuffers.

They didn’t have anybody to play the Justin Smith role. Somebody strong enough to hold up against double teams but quick enough to penetrate between them when needed. That’s what they’re hoping Bullard can do.

        • Irish Sweetness

I didn’t know that about his knee. Not good.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Eh, shit happens. It doesn’t sound remotely close to what Jack, Smith, Joseph went through.

      • Irish Sweetness

Just tape. He had a nose for the ball. It was like a beacon was going off in his head. He just gravitated towards it.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Ward needed his knee scoped. After last year (yes, I know it was post-draft that White really broke down), it sure looks like Pace wasn’t taking shots at anybody that had a medical condition.

    • willbest

I know you like bodies Irish, but you only get 4-5 DB’s on the field at once. The rest of them are over on the sidelines scratching their crotch. The only thing that matters is how good your 4 best ones are.

      • Irish Sweetness

I was half-hoping we’d stay put. If the Giants got Floyd, we’d have Hargreaves. We could still get Correa in round 2, Bullard or whoever in round 3. Larsen, Ramirez, Becton to fight it out for Guard, or draft your Guard in the 4th. Fuller or Porter goes down, it’s hard to have confidence in the guy coming in.

  • Jokey

Our TE blocks more than catches and I feel like those aren’t too hard to find. I voted Safety, I’m not hearing their names called enough.

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Sorry Jeff, Americans like their sports a little more manly. I appreciate the world class skill but what a bunch of fucking pussies. In hockey they’ll acknowledge that a guy cheap shotted you but….let’s be honest, you acted like a pussy when he did it so you’re getting a penalty too.

    • Scharfinator

Haha all Jeff is saying is why are you so worked up about something you don’t like? You’re displaying those traits right now, getting all butthurt about something you could just ignore.

For me, it’s the kids in college who play Quidditch who are fucking retarded, but there’s no reason to get mad about it.

      • Picnics with the Yakuza

I think they are just geeks. They aren’t harming anyone.

        • Scharfinator

Agreed – that’s kind of my point. I think it is dumb, but I’m not going to get upset about it.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

nope they are messing with magic, crazy witchcraft stuff, and all that is unholy. burn them at the stake.

          • CanadaBear

            AND they need a kicker!

      • CanadaBear

I had to look Quidditch up. WTF? Different strokes.

Cyclists mostly like to make fun of triathletes. They can be in unbelievable shape but a hard core cyclist rarely wants to be around triathletes due to their sketchy bike handling skills. Most experienced cyclists are smooth on a bike. Most triathletes on a bike look like a monkey fucking a football.

    • CanadaBear

I don’t get Jeff crying about it either. People in the US make fun of soccer BFD. Having been a fan of a niche European sport (bicycle racing) for most of my life, it’s time for Jeff to buck up and get a little thicker skin. People always make fun of bike racing, if they ever even acknowledge it. Doesn’t bother me at all. Who cares? You like what you like. Jeff also loves golf. Thanks but no thanks.

      • Irish Sweetness

From the perspective of the rest of the world, it’s American football that’s boring, because it stops so often, and takes three to three and a half hours to play a 60 minute game.

That’s why I hate cricket. Typical Imperial tosh. They stop for tea and sandwiches, and some games go on for three days. SMH.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

agreed that American Football is boring but it’s not because the starting and stopping, it’s because of the commercials. The game would be short and sweet and violent as all hell. There would be momentum and drama and D stops would help the O and the crowd would go crazy…except for the commercials that kill all momentum, take the crowd out of it and suck the joy out of the games.

      • willbest

I thought it was in reference to jackholes that when start talking about sport X interject how enlightened they are for not watching it

        • CanadaBear

          Dare I say, pretentious twats.

    • Big Mike

I love that last part. You don’t know what injuries they had until after the stanley cup finals are over. Even if they go out in an early round, you don’t hear about injuries, out of respect for their opponent. After the Stanley Cup, you find out a guy had a broken wrist, fractured ankle, cracked femur, I don’t know, was playing on one foot.. but you don’t hear about it until the season is wrapped.

  • That Guy

    I went O-line. Three reasons:

    (1) Leno is a serious question mark at left tackle. If he progresses this year, great. If not, we’re still hurting at one of the toughest positions in the league to fill.
    (2) Even is Leno is a great player, I have no idea who our swing tackle is. I also have no idea where our backup depth is on the interior.
    (3) With the cutting of Slauson, we are hoping Whitehair and Grasu are both solid this year and neither has played enough NFL games to be sure of that.

TE isn’t bountiful, but we have a veteran and rookie in the role for now. Depth is the bigger concern.

We have guys that can play DE and the improvements elsewhere on the front 7 will make those positions easier to play.

Corner and Safety have both been addressed, though it remains to be seen which players cement themselves as starters.

    • CanadaBear

I went TE because I think they will get the OL settled by opening day. TE has Miller and a bunch of guys.

      • MB30SD

If Miller can stay on the field more than two games

        • Big Mike

Don’t curse the poor dude. He’s already at a disadvantage because he is white.

      • Big Mike

Sets up for TE being a big need as the Bears put together the dream team and go chase Lombardis.

      • That Guy

I view Miller as more of a lock to perform well than Leno, but obviously injuries are a concern. TEs are hard to find (as opposed to WRs), but they are still easier and cheaper to get than left tackles both in free agency and in the draft. Also, we can scheme around a weakness at TE a lot easier than at LT.

    • Big Mike

We’ve got 3 guys who can play guard or center. Ramirez, Larson and Whitehair. Only 1 of those is on the field to start. So the interior has two guys who are better than Oh Mama and Duck’s Ass. Larsen is the better of the Free Agent guys. He beat out Jonathan Cooper a 1st round pick who was starting until he got hurt, on a team competing for the Super Bowl. Grasu must have inspired confidence in the coaching staff with regards to his off season work. Leno is no more of a question mark than he was last year. He’s young, he’ll be better. How much is the question.

      • That Guy

A lot of rookies we’re relying on, but I agree. There is a plan in place.

The team has the space to make another move in FA this off-season. There will be teams that cut players the way we cut Slauson and the Panthers cut Norman. It will be interesting to see if Pace makes a move.

        • Big Mike

If his track record is any indication, he’ll certainly try and get long, fast, coachable ballplayers.

      • “Grasu must have inspired confidence in the coaching staff with regards to his off season work”.

I don’t really see it that way. Traditionally, rookie Cs slip into LG to kinda get their feet wet before assuming C responsibilities (esp with Cutty who is no Peyton).

The Bears drafted Whitehair and are immediately starting him over Grasu.

We don’t really have a C, and Grasu is still not projected to start, even though he’s a relatively high draft pick and Slauson was just dumped.

We’ll see how it all shakes out, but from what I’ve seen from this regime, if a player doesn’t produce, they don’t take very long in moving on.

The only exception really was Shea, but now he’s gone too.

        • Big Mike

I don’t see Whitehair starting at Center over Grasu. That contradicts your premise of Center’s getting their feet wet at LG. Whitehair is going to be a beast at OG. His footwork, punch, drive, and athleticism are all ++ for a guard. Any guard who can hold their own at Tackle in the pass rush at a high level of competition, is a very athletic guard. A guard that can play center has great vision and technique. Grasu is going to be just fine. I don’t know how everyone has gotten so down on him. He got tossed into the fire as a rookie playing next to oh mama and duck’s ass.

There is no reason to move on from Grasu. Leno, Whitehair, Grasu, Long and Massie will be our o-line maybe not week 1, but that is where it’s going. Not to mention Larsen can play Center. If anything Larsen pushes Grasu out.

          Best 5 play.

  • EnderWiggin

Floyd received an overall Madden rating of 83. Although he did get a 99 rating in instincts, I kid! 99 rating in finesse…

    http://sportsmockery.com/2016/05/leonard-floyds-madden-ratings-wow/

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

This is actually a fascinating article on how they come up with those.
      http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/madden/#part1

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Not that I give a shit, because…video games…but that’s higher than the overall rating for any of the top 10 rookies in last years Madden.
      Ohhhhhkay.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

The guy that used to do the ratings (profiled in the 538 article) left EA last summer to go do design on FanDuel.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Wow. Ted Cuz.

Of all the guzzlers on the end of Satan’s chode, that guy’s a hall of famer. Trots out every cliche you can think of and I don’t believe a word of it. He just got done telling America that Donald Trump said he’d never asked God for forgiveness and how terrible he was for that. Only God knows what evil Ted Cruz needs forgiveness for, but he reminds me a lot of Tony Blair.

Met my cousin-in-law at a wedding 15 years ago. Aussie-Brit. Lovely guy. Blair was in the news and I mentioned something about him, John goes “Oh, he was in my class at Uni!” (he’s a Queen’s Counsel).
I’m thinking, wow, he was in Blair’s class for however many years, must know him pretty well, one of the leaders of the free world. “What was he like?” John thinks about it for a bit and just says “Soul-less.” with kind of a sad look on his face.

    I never forgot that.

    • MB30SD

      Perfect explanation

    • Sactowns#1

Cruz is a frightening prospect for president… not because he’s an empty suit just saying things to get elected but because he actually believes the bullshit that he spews. He would love nothing more than to have a “Christian” Taliban govt.

      • CanadaBear

Totally agree. He’s really smart and a crazy ideologue. When Boehner says you’re the most miserable SOB he’s ever been around … WOW!

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Tells you a lot about his winning personality.

          • The Republicans are more or less split up into different factions with someone competing priorities.

Wall streeters who can care less about politics as long as corporations benefit (Dems have these too)
The Hawks who basically just want war and power to line their pockets.
The Libertarians who want almost the opposite, to minimize gov as much as possible and greatly reduce military spending.
The Evangelicals who care more about abortions, gay marriage and morality in general.

The strange phenom with Trump is that he doesn’t exactly fit into any category.

Will he play ball with Wall St, or go rogue? He wants america to be powerful but has also said he doesn’t believe in a lot of wars. Does he want to abolish the IRS? He’s a pro-lifeer who once was a pro-choicer.

This leaves a lot of questions for many republicans.

          • MB30SD

“The Evangelicals who care more about abortions, gay marriage and morality in general.”

          • CanadaBear

Just slightly more emotional than a 60 year-old drag queen.

        • That Guy

Donald Trump being the in race has been a huge boon to Ted Cruz. Trump gets all the negative publicity but the fact is Cruz is hugely unpopular in the Republican party. Does not play well with others, does not get deals done, does not build partnerships.

Trump is scary because of his unpredictability. A lot of Republicans are thus backing the devil they know (Cruz) over the devil they don’t. But Trump has a much higher upside.

Then again, so do guys like Putin.

      • burntorangenavyblue

Yep. As idiotic Trump is, he has achieved way more in life in terms if successes, negotiating and obviously street smart kind of personality.

Cruz, I have no sense of what he is trying to get at. When he talks, I picture a whiney kid that can’t be taken seriously. Him picking a VP mate is like a sports team thinking about winning the championship before the 1st round of the playoffs even concluded.

Overall, like I have said before….we the people our at fault for allowing politics to become the state that it is in, so the entire nation being all angry and mad about who might be potential president is extremely ironic.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I think he’s not trying real hard for that Supreme Court nomination anymore…
      http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/03/politics/donald-trump-rafael-cruz-indiana/index.html

    • Picnics with the Yakuza

Trump noted that Cruz dad was friends with Lee Harvey Oswald and was Cuban.

That’s like walking up to a car at a drive in movie and firing a RPG into the window.

      • BillW

I think Trump smells blood in the water and he’s hoping the Oswald connection makes Cruz go off the deep end, making him look unstable. And it seems to be working.

I used to be a Republican. That party doesn’t even exist anymore. I can’t believe I’m voting for Hillary Clinton. But her “brand” of politician seems less dangerous than Trump’s. And Cruz? True colors beginning to be seen as people pay attention as an alternative to Trump.

Trump may very get lock up the nomination before Cleveland. Never thought that could happen. Might be good overall for the Republicans. The decline started with Palin for Veep and will hit bottom with Trump for President.

Simply my opinion of course – though a great many party leaders from both sides seem to share it.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

I agree Bill. The Palin VP nod and the ensuing lunacy brought it all down. The Trump thing is an embarrassment to all of us.

        • Curious who you would like as a Republican candidate? I think a lot of rational republicans feel the same.

I think the Republicans are an endangered species. They are simply viewed as racist, corporate, sanctimonious, war mongering, hillybillys by a lot of the youth, women, and ppl of color, which is to say, nearly everyone.

Only way I see one becoming president again is if the Dems nominate an absolute robot while the Rep nominate someone with the power of cult of personality (kinda like Trump).

Sadly, these cult of personalities types (Palin too) tend to be grossly under-qualified and off their hinges.

Maybe Rubio in a few years will save them, but it’ll be tough from the Rep to gain any sort of momentum.

Like the Jews, they’re waiting for their messiah to swoop in and save them from themselves, and like the Jews, they may be waiting a while.

          • CanadaBear

They kick ass in the off year elections and do well in the Congressional races. For Prez, both sides need the Independents to get their choice elected. Repubs have put up candidates that independents won’t for due to the candidates extreme views.

          • The thing is that REPS have a slimmer margin of error to work with.

Like I said, the DEMS have pretty much minorities, youth, and women in the bank. Throw in educated “whites” (or anything else), progressives, and more and more, moderate dissatisfied reps (like Bill), and who is left for the Rep?

            Angry whites and anti-castro Cubans?

So the REPs are turning to these cult of personalities like Palin and Trump to try to get as many angry whites as possible, but this is having the effect of pissing of their other bases (Evangelicals, Libertarians, even Wall st).

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

The perfect scenario for me would be the complete abolishment of the Republican party as we know it. That would result in some real democracy getting done and centrists like myself being represented more because the choice would be between ultra left liberals, centrists and conservative democrats. The ultra left would be destroyed and the middle majority would be fully represented….albeit with a left leaning slant which I’m ok with if it means the country is run by the middle and not the left.

          • willbest

What is your definition of centrist?

          • BillW

I agree completely. I do think there could be a replacement for the Republican party some day. The centrist position – no matter how difficult it may be to describe – has been ignored (by the Republicans at least).

          • willbest

Its so hard to describe because most people don’t view themselves as extremist. But also because centrist won’t hold their positions. They think if somebody is offended they must have a legitimate gripe so they compromise in the name of peace. But you can’t buy peace, you can only rent it. So those same people come back tomorrow and you compromise again.

Look at the LGBT lobby. Look at the NRA. Neither compromises, both win. It pays to be an extremist.

          • BillW

Hence the unforeseen Trump phenomenon. People seem enthralled with his doubling down on even outrageous remarks.

I realize that he could very well be president. All it takes is a Hilary health crisis, or even as unlikely as it seems now – a smoking gun with the email server.

          • willbest

Single women. Married women are in the bag for the GOP. And Romney won white men under 30, so not all young either. People aren’t wrong in the GOP being/becoming the white party. Its why it has no coherent ideology anymore.

          • willbest

Romney was about as close to vanilla as you can get, so I don’t understand that.

          • CanadaBear

Very, very rich vanilla with a disdain for 47% of the US population. Until that tape came out, he looked like he might win.

          • willbest

People like to ascribe moments to when things change. People make judgments and then look for confirmation. All that did was “prove” what people already thought about him.

          • CanadaBear

Not really. There were a lot of people on the fence but when you call 47% of the population a bunch of mooches that usually doesn’t fly that well. Esp when you consider there are a ton of military and elderly in that 47%.

          • BillW

I was ready to vote for him but that comment turned me off so bad I dropped that idea.

The whole issue of the appeal of Trump and his talk about walls etc in my mind is summed up in an Onion headline from several years ago:

“White People Will Soon Be A Minority In Their Own G-Damn Country!”

You see, whether people are conscious of it or not, many many white people still think of the US as “their country” and being such “great Americans” we let minorities be here too.

          • willbest

That is because prior to 1965 it was their country. You don’t go from 85% white to 64% white in 2 generations without fundamentally changing the nature of your country.

The growing pains on that are just beginning btw.

          • BillW

You are correct in your main point. the growing pains are just beginning. A lot of angry (and truly bigoted) people seem to just now realize that the constitution and laws are set up to make it everyone’s country. A black president. A woman president. A candidate who dares to speak Spanish in his speeches. A Indian governor of LA.

Trump has tapped into that big time.

          • willbest

No they aren’t. The laws are set up to give the people here the right to dictate the scope of their country, and to treat people with varying degrees of equality (depending on which decade you look at). There is a reason immigration has been turned on and off multiple times during the course of our history.

          • BC

That’s a hard question to answer because everytime we get excited about someone we find out that they’re hiding some pretty serious skeletons (Cruz, Rubio, etc.).

Don’t forget though that after the 2004 election the Dems felt the same way and then in 2008 they unearthed Obama and he won 2 elections with a landslide thrown in there to boot.

I am seriously considering voting Libertarian this time around. I like Austin Petersen if he gets the nod.

          • BillW

I have to admit I hadn’t gotten to know any of the candidates whose asses Trump kicked. I was intrigued by Rubio but felt he was too inexperienced. Paul Ryan was another maybe but he is wisely staying out this debacle. Bobby Jindahl was yet another intriguing one.

I lean Republican but voted for Obama twice. First as an anti-Palin vote and then an anti-Romney. I am not locked in a party. It’s apparent that deregulation was taken too far – we already had the “too big to fail” discussion and I have no desire to start that up again.

By the definition the party has taken for itself, I guess maybe I’m simply not a Republican anymore.

          • willbest

One could argue deregulation wasn’t taken far enough. Its only because the banks were given assurances of bailout that they engaged in that nonsense.

Just like Obama offered the insurance companies bailouts if Obamacare flopped in order to get them into the exchanges.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Rubio will be lucky to ever serve in a position of national elected office again.
Trump sucked out his soul and put it on lockdown.

          • CanadaBear

He truly made him his bitch. You knew Rubio was an idiot when he made the small hands remark.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Rubio said he’s done with politics. I had a feeling he really cared, even if it was misplaced. Politics ruined that young man.

          • willbest

Rubio is a dim bulb. He has proven he can be manipulated by anybody. I don’t care if his heart is in the right place. He would trade the US for magic beans.

          • BC

Think that it’s temporary, this cycle was emotionally draining for everyone. Technically he’s still engaging in politics by not unbinding his delegates.

          • willbest

If Trump is a few votes shy he could release and endorse Trump for the VP nod. It would also make the party leaders happy.

          • BC

I think that would be one of the few scenarios in which I vote for Trump in the general, granted I would have to hold my nose to do it, but what else is new?

            STRANGE FACT OF THE DAY:
I haven’t actually voted for the Presidential winner yet and I have been voting since 2000.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

You would vote for Trump because Rubio took the VP nod?
I’m just typing it out to try and understand this.
Given your voting record, I will keep my fingers crossed.

          • BC

Not entirely sure but there would at least someone on the ticket I could stomach. Not voting for Hilary at all and I am waiting to see what the Libertarians throw out there.

          • BillW

Politics is strange indeed. “Little Marco” (as Trump derisively called him) as running mate?

Why not? Hilary bashed Obama and said McCain was a better choice (pre-Palin) and she didn’t suffer any backlash.

          • willbest

Still pass rush for me. If we can’t get home, none of that shit matters. Could take another year.

What will be unacceptable is if we suck against the run again this year. That’s how you know if we’ll be good or not next year. If fat boy lacy is carving us up this year, my tv won’t make it through the season.

    • CanadaBear

After adding Aiken, DT, JF and Bullard, if that doesn’t make a difference, there should be a major house cleaning again.

      • We still need that ONE dominant Dlineman (Mo?)

        Goldman is a NT.

We need our equivalent of Aldon/Justin Smith.

As of now, Bears roster a bunch of guys who MIGHT pan out, but can any of them reach 8-10 sacks with their hand in the dirt?

        Not sure.

        • CanadaBear

I agree but Goldman seems like the real deal. I like what I’ve read about Bullard and Aiken has to help. Unlike some, I think Ferguson is decent and I’m looking forward to see if CornWash really took the next step at the end of 2014 or if that was fool’s gold. Also, I think the D has improved to the point where Fangio can install his entire D instead of playing it safe to protect some flawed players.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

            haha, you love Cornwash.

          • I love me some Cornwash too! But will he get 8-10 sacks?

Who on our Dline can? It’s all “fingers-crossed”. We don’t have a macDaddy we can confidently pencil in to wreak havoc.

That might be our final missing piece de resistance.

          • CanadaBear

Gotta keep in mind that Houston and Willie came on at the end of last year after they healed up. There is some talent there.

          • “Fingers-crossed!”

          • CanadaBear

I truly thought the light came on at the end of 2014. Of course, I said the same thing about Bobby Douglass after he had a career game against Buffalo (with a broken wrist). That didn’t turn out very well!

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

I think they wanted Floyd/Bullard to be the Smith Bros.

          • Bullard is the same size as white Smith, but white Smith really was country strong. Dude took on two defenders while letting others pass rush.

Floyd is about 35 pounds lighter than black Smith though, so we’ll see how that goes.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

white smith really was a freak of nature. And by taking on 2 defenders you do mean pulling one defender into his body orbit using his sick as millstrength while black smith stunted and killed the QB. Only DT who consistently got called for holding.

          • Country strong!
Even if he was holding (which he probably was) how da fuq can you hold TWO 300 pound NFL powerful Olinemen at the same time? That’s impressive.

Shea, on the otherhand, was NOT countrystrong…

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Functional Strength is the new Country Strong.

          • I think the refs gave white Smith a pass just to see if he could do it.

McPhee was banged up we lost Goldman as he started to hit his stride, we had bodies at DE. Our coverage couldn’t keep the ball in the QBs hands for more than 2.3 seconds

Yeah, you’re right. Why would any of us care about others opinions.

        • burntorangenavyblue

He’s saying exactly what anyone would EXPECT him to say as a representative player of the Chicago Bears.

I don’t recall anyone saying they lacked appreciation for Houston, but him saying the cliche thing about a division rival does not shock me, especially his counterpoints of “he’s a great athlete” blah blah blah.

Ok- topic of conversation/ bone of contention. What is everyone’s opinion on babies at breweries/bars?

    • Scharfinator

      Start em early!!!!

Honestly though, what fun is that for anyone involved? Your baby will be upset from the noise, you’ll be upset because you can’t have fun, and everyone else is upset your baby is making upset noises.

It’s like bringing your baby on a plane, but at least the baby on the plane has somewhere to be.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Strange. A bar is not set up for the entertainment of babies or small child at all. You can’t talk sports with them or buy em drinks. Plus, there are strange people around sometimes.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

depends on the bar, and time of day. I personally have no issues with it depending on the circumstances, and don’t be there hours on end.

      • That Guy

If its more of a restaurant style experience, then the same rules apply as apply to restaurants – kids are fine as long as they don’t disturb the other diners (within reason).

If its more of a tourist attraction (like a brewery with tastings), then I think that’s okay. The kids can enjoy the tour, etc. But if the tasting area is built like a dive bar, then no kids allowed.

If its a bar, with drunk people, loud swearing, people trying to pick up members of the opposite sex (or the same sex, or some combination of the two) or if a large crowd is being rambunctious and it would not be safe to have a car seat on the floor where someone could step/trip on it, then no. Absolutely not.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Totally depends on context. What neighborhood, what time, what crowd, what concept, what friends, why are you there… If you don’t have the judgement or information to figure out whether it’s appropriate, just don’t take them.

    • MB30SD

hahahahaha… my good friend and I have a standing joke with this.

Whenever we see this, we say things like, “Awwwwww, man! We totally should have brought the kids to hang out tonight. Those kids get to enjoy all these drunk people, cussing, exposure to alcohol, etc…”

Fucking bad parenting. don’t fucking do this if you have kids you aholes. SMMFH (not that I feel strongly about it or anything)

    • BillW

Babies? I assume you mean a child that has to be held or put in a carrier. In my (grandfatherly) opinion, I would say only if the parent is stopping in for someone to see their child. MAYBE to have one (at most) drink. Even the “one drink” part questions responsibility in my mind.

For any type of extended time in the bar/brewery? No (unless it’s a tour and the adult is not sampling.

    • Sactowns#1

So for some context, I am in a beer group and there is a heated debate going about babies in breweries. For some reason almost everyone on the group agrees that babies in bars is a no no but breweries are totally cool. I said “Well at least a lot of bars serve food. Your bringing your kid somewhere where they literally only sell stuff made for adults”. This did not sway their opinion. I don’t mind one or two kids here or there but lately a couple of the local breweries have become the new Chuck-e-cheese.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

that’s just parents being too cheap to get babysitters.

        • BC

…or untrusting, there are very few people I would trust my kids with.

On the flip side, my dad used to take me to pay my paper route bill each Saturday through the winter (it was about 5 miles away and riding a bicycle in the winter wasn’t too appealing). After that, we would stop off at the bar for a few minutes. Usually after about 3-4 hours of olive soup, we would head home. I absolutely loved going to the bar. Non stop pop, chips, nuts, money for pinball, it was awesome. My dad was a lot of fun so the guys in the bar were always buying me stuff to keep me quiet and keep the old man there to entertain the drunks. Who would have ever guessed I’d become an alcoholic!!!!!!!!!

          • MB30SD

hahahahahaha…. that and none of the bars I go to have pinball Canada. Oh for times of yore!

Have you ever tried Hendricks or Tanq Ten? My Honey Bunny loves both of them. Also, a local gin out here, Victoria’s.

            Nope, but I need to!

i was at a bar a lot growing up. My Grandpa owned one. There were a lot of times that I got drug along to the bar, mainly because my Dad had to help out and it was too short of notice to find a babysitter. Even with that my Dad always tried not to have me there for too long, he always tried to find someone to pick me up as quick as possible and definitely not be there late at night. Then there were times we had family gatherings there before the rest my aunts/uncles started having kids, I am 8yrs older than my closest cousin. There are times that I was ok with being there but bars are boring for kids, you can only play pinball so long.

Irish and I would make a great babysitting duo. I’ll take your kid to the playground and teach them the importance of sharing (socialism) and then discuss ethnic diversity while going through the SI Swimsuit edition. Irish will put them to bed with tales of alien abductions and monetary fund conspiracies.

            “Faith and Begorrah”
A zany ex-pat Irishman comes to America to run a Bildenberger boarding school with his wacky liberal sidekick. Can they raise these kids to value humanity -and- the gold standard? Was 9/11 an inside job? Who really has the best Thai food in Sacramento?

      Context

If there is a kids menu then kids are fair game, though context is in order. If it doesn’t serve cooked food or the only cooked food served comes out of a deep frier then no.

If it is dim lighting – no
If there are no TV’s on the wall – no
If it is after 7pm and you did not arrive before 7pm – no
If the ambient sound in the room would be described as reserved – no
If there is a PPV event going on – no

    • CanadaBear

I drive like Grandpa so I’ll kick in if you drive me around the Midwest for a week. I’d love to ride around in that bad boy with someone that can push it a bit.

  • Ok. So, it’s the offseason, an I’ll share with you a recent Butch dilemma that I’m really struggling with. This might be really long, but it matters to me.

    Infidelity

So, some butch background. I’ve NEVER been that guy to cheat on either end.

    1. I haven’t had an “official” GF since I was 19. I’m 37 now. So I would be with numerous women, and it wasn’t “cheating”. Couldn’t stand the hypocrisy and living a lie. Though in retrospect, I told a lot of little lies, but it wasn’t that one big “I fucked your cousin, wifey.”

    2. I have never been with my pal’s ex-hookups, even though I had a chances. Nor have I ever been with a girl who had a BF, much less husband.

I’ve had numerous opportunities. Once a girl was rubbing my cock then told me mid-stroke,”I’m married” I got up. put my pants up (full mast. Not easy). Got her by the wrist and drug her out the room and told her to get out. She went got her other friend (who was giving my friend a BJ in the kitchen) and sleenked away. My friend was not happy, to say the least!

So I was kinda adamant about not fucking committed women. My logic, “There’s plenty of non-committed women. Why complicate life?”

I also imagined how I would feel if I ever was cheated on, so it was based both on logic and empathy.

However, as of late, I’m beginning to waiver.

Last 3 years I’ve kinda loosened on my stance a bit.

I was with a girl who was off-and-on again, so I didn’t particularly consider it cheating. Also, the dude was a dick who literally sold her dog for smack. So I wasn’t really that empathetic towards him.

Next girl, well, she def had a BF. Only problem was? He too was an abusive dick who Oh yeah, was in prison. So again, I didn’t feel all that empathetic towards his plight.

Though I have since stopped boning either girl for various reasons.

HOWEVER, NOW I got a whole ‘nother level. A girl who I have known for like 15 years recently started hitting me up on FB (as a matter of fact, i popped her cherry).

I’ve been somewhat trying to ignore her cuz I got the feeling she wanted something more than casual friendship.

She, unlike the other chicks, IS married AND has kids with this dude. Lots of FB pics of them and the kids.

She calls me up practically crying one night, saying how she hates being married. She DOESN’T hate her hubby. In fact, she thinks he’s a “sweet” guy and good father.

But she still HATES being married. She says she goes out sometimes and doesn’t even wear her ring. Says she told her hubby she wants to spice things up and bring in another girl. Dude is one of those weirdos who says, “Nope.” So now she feels even more sexually oppressed and about to explode.

I, trying to be a good guy, tell her to seek marriage counseling, think of the kids, all that. Said she’ll try, but really is beyond. She’s been feeling like this for 4 years. Says she loves being a mother, just not a wife.

So, I try to be an ear, but I kinda know where she’s heading with this.

We go out the other night for a drink. We reminisce, catch up, etc, then I ask her point blank, “Have you cheated on your husband?” She pauses. She knows me, so she knows how I am. She finally relents, “Yeah, if I have to be honest, I did. With another married guy for a year and half. But I stopped it”

So now, I don’t really know what to make of it all. We get a bit tipsy, hang out in her car, and I’m ready to go. I felt like just unzipping my pants and pulling her head down.

“Fuck. This bitch already cheated on her husband with another married man for over year!”

I was very drunk and very horny, and she was looking at me in that way.

But, I refrained. I just couldn’t. I kept thinking about those kids, and even him (though he looks like a chump, but hey, that aint his fault).

But honestly, what could I do to make those kids and her hubby feel better about her?

She is who she is. She doesn’t love her husband in that exclusive way. She’s a horny woman who wants other dick (and pussy).

There’s nothing I can do to change that reality.

She just never was the stepford wife, though like many other brainwashed women, she felt she should be and gave it a go, with obvious disastrous consequences.

“Know thyself” “To thine own self be true” kept ringing in my head, and though I knew what she was, I was trying to figure out who I was.

So, I crushed my beer cans, bid her goodnight, and haven’t’ talked to her since.

I’m really perplexed by all this.

I KNOW she’s gonna cheat on her hubby. Guaranteed. So is it better for her to fuck other married men, or random horndog strangers, or someone who even in her own words considers a “soul mate’ and someone who’s known her for 15 years?

I’m sort of at a loss in all this trying to figure out what the right thing to do is.

Anyhow, if you guys have any input or comments or anything, would wanna hear it since many of you are actual men who probably had some experience with all this.

And if Christian Trac or Jewish NB want to weigh in, I don’t mind either (just don’t pick up the stones).

Alrighty. That is all I guess.

    • willbest

I don’t know what you want from a Christian standpoint other than to tell you its still wrong. The Bible gives the non-adulterous spouse the out not the offending one. So unless you are getting his permission you aren’t going to be right with God (until you repent again)

From a secular practical standpoint however, F that noise. She doesn’t love the guy, she is hopping to stick the landing with you. But notice her behavior. She isn’t just trying to find her own happiness, she is completely indifferent anybody else’s feelings but her own. She is a damaged mess, so I don’t know you would want to invite that into your life, unless she has a magic vagina or gives the world’s greatest blow jobs.

      • She DOES indeed have a magic vag and great BJs.

The old maxim is true. “Crazy in the head. Crazy in the bed”

And she does openly acknowledge that she indeed may be a psychopath, that is to say, just not empathetic enough or not wired like a majority of women.

That’s what makes it so fascinating.

As for the religious opinion, I know the blanket “Thou shalt not” But always curious what their response would be for SPECIFIC instances and what they would suggest.

And I by NO means want to be in a relationship with this girl in that way. If I wanted to, I probably could’ve married her long ago, but I knew THIS would eventually happen.

So, it’s just company and sex, really.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

To you and her (maybe)…to her husband and kids, it’s not.

        • Big Mike

No, No , No, No, No in the name of GSH, no.

          • Did I mention she would bring other chicks into the mix. She would, not me, I wouldn’t even have to do anything.

Ugghhh…u guys are like my intervention. Except GP.

He’s more like my ID and the lil voice inside everyone’s head that says, “Fuck it with a headband. Jim McMahon style”

          • Big Mike

Doesn’t change the moral equation. From your description it seems you would be directing a porn movie with yourself cast as the star. So i was figuring anything would go. Same advice. Just to be clear, in your shoes, I’d probably have to move to not be tapping into that. But that doesn’t make it right. The woman needs help.

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

do not do that. point fucking blank.

      • But why not? Are you imagining it from a hubby/father perspective?

Would it matter if a hubby found out his wife boned one person, or two, or three, of if it was a one night stand, or other married man, or old friend?

        She’s gonna fuck someone.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

It’s just needless drama and pain bro, it’s not like you’ve been pining for her for years, etc. Why introduce that into your life regardless of the kids, family shit.

I want to believe that I’d see the signs if my wife wanted to leave. The kids make emotions run high and with that kind of betrayal….uh, I think I’d just kill you both and get it over with. But hey, that’s just me.

          • Yeah, that’s why I’ve been kinda aloof.

But why does any man invite or put up with “needless drama”?

            Answer is always: magic poon.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

            just get it somewhere else

          • True, but without getting into specifics, let’s just say she does things you can’t even pay some hookers to do – and she does them for free and eagerness…

But, yes, I totally hear. you.

          • Picnics with the Yakuza

oh i think we need specifics

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

the likelihood of Butch getting killed increases with the level of depravity to which this young lady lowers herself to. If the husband knows she’s “eager” and can’t get it out of his head that she’s doing that to others Butch is definitely getting Datelined.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

            Exactery.

        • MB30SD

Actually, I may just not see her anymore. That’s why I avoided seeing her till like 6 months later.

I know my weakness, and thy name is magic poon.

    • BC

Kids are a huge boner killer aren’t they? Seriously though, don’t let her previous actions dictate your morality. If you are strongly conflicted then you shouldn’t do it. Is the 2-3 minutes (couldn’t resist) of passion worth the guilt you’ll almost certainly feel after and the drama you’ll invite into your life if her hubby finds the spent condom?

    • Sactowns#1

Tis nothing right or wrong, but thinking it makes it so.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

been in the same situation. I slept with the woman. I told myself I would not do it, but a drunk night changed things. One of the worst things I have ever done. The problem is she was a messed up headcase that did not know what she wanted or needed. Her husband found out about us and her past transgressions and they ended up getting divorced. I partially blame myself because I used the same rationale of she was going to cheat anyway, but still does not resolve that guilty feeling I have that I was in some part responsible for breaking up a family, even if that family was already doomed.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

once she had that huge bear penis it was just a matter of time at that point.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

          Liability costs primarily.

    • burntorangenavyblue

It’s not worth it. You two have a history and it should be left alone. You will get dragged in the mud if you try to decide to do anything with her. There are so many clusterfuck scenarios that might pop up and it just isn’t worth it.

If she cheated on that one married dude for a year in a half, what’s for you to say that you want to end it off with her just after one time? If you are single, she may feel inclined to think that you are HERS. NO THANK YOU!

    • willbest

Alright so you claim her poon was magical, but are you sure that wasn’t because you were 22, and everything about her was perky and tight? She is in her 30s and has a kid. blemishes, even if she is fit, vagina is going to be looser, and she will have mom belly. boobs a bit saggy.

You’re just trying to justify bad behavior. We all do that. You know you shouldn’t. When I found out my ex was cheating on me it was like a gut punch. Should have seen it but didn’t. It’s not like I was husband of the year or anything. Gotta say it changed my mind about things. Anywho, be careful either way. Like Harry Caray used to say when it looked bad for the Cubbies, “There’s danger here Sherree.”

    • Sactowns#1

Ok. Here’s my very long story, which parallels yours, made short. My sophomore year of HS my friend told me his friend was going snowboarding for her bday and did I want to go. I said sure, I had just started skiing the year before and loved it. We walked to her locker to talk about discount lift tix etc and when I see her I just freeze. She’s gorgeous. Half Japanese and half Jewish, she looked like Hawaiian royalty who had moved to the mainland, trading her grass skirt and coconuts for an aline skirt and retro sweater. And of course like any 15yo kid I was completely incapable of articulating my new enamoration. Years go by, we become very close, but I date her friends and never her. We’re 22, she tells me she’s engaged. We go to lunch and I try to tell her not to do it, but all I can muster is a “congrats”. We’re 30, she tells me over lunch how unhappy she is. We start hanging out. I finally tell her how I feel. She files for divorce and we start dating. But where mans folly becomes tragedy. You see I’ve always been the one to cheat. I did not see some great morality play in my mind as you do. No struggle between good and evil. Just two adults making consensual choices. But now, now things are different. This woman is not like the others. I am not like myself when with her, or at least I do not want to be. But I do know thyself. I do know the inevitable is coming. I could see it laid out before, a roadmap of infidelity, and this is one woman I would never want to inflict injury upon. So I left. Amid protests and tears. Amid please for an explanation. But as any 30 something year old man I was incapable of articulation my fears. She’s now remarried, and from what I hear, happy. And I, I guess the best I can say is I never cheated on her.

tis better to have tapped and lost, then to have never tapped at all?

        • CanadaBear

          En Fuego!

        • MB30SD

          hahahaha

      • That’s the same logic I applied to myself throughout my 20 and even 30s.

I KNEW I was waaay too horny to be a 1 woman man.
On top of that, I was rather arrogant, foolish and maybe even a bit cruel in that alphamale 20s way.

So, I didn’t want to inflict cheating on women I cared about. The least I could do, I figured.

To be honest, I don’t see how ANY man can remain faithful to his gf or wife.

That always amazes me, like when that Vietnamese monk just sat their whilst on fire.

And from most men I’ve come across, they indeed are cheaters.

        These strip-club, massage parlors and Ashley/tinder/POF.coms don’t populate themselves….

So I figure I’ll wait till my horniness subsides in old age. I’m now 37, and still just about as horny.

The only difference now than my 21 yr old self?

Now I don’t want sex ALL the time, but if I see a hot chick like so

        http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b543oV67-rY/Usr6mvKPkoI/AAAAAAAAFYk/zkzFckPHoDE/s1600/1558535_512556338843217_75702762_n.jpg

I still get equally as horny.

        • CanadaBear

My libido didn’t calm down until my mid-50’s. Still a horny old coot but my decisions are more rational these days.

        • Irish Sweetness

Easy for me. I lost my kids for three weeks thinking I’d never see them again, and when she brought them back, I knew I never wanted to face that again. So it’s easy. There’s nothing between us physically, and we’re good friends now, but when it’s between life as a wild dog, or your kids, it’s easy.

      • MB30SD

        FOOL!!!

    • Big Mike

No religious overtones in my comment. Your faith and your god likely have a set of rules and this breaks the rules. You would not be helping her, by taking one for the team. You’re rationalization of this as a lesser evil puts you in the position of he who defines morality. Your decision making is being done solely from your own perspective. The highest road is to help this woman deal with her situation. To do that, you have to put up the closed for business, never going to happen sign. She has to go to and remain in the friend zone. She’s married with kids.

Less moral, but with the same outcome is the fact that this situation spells trouble. Do you think she just want’s a romp? You’re her “soul mate”, you’re going to add sex to that? There is no ending to this that ends happily.

Curious what Nitty has to say.

          • Someways, I am curious too. From the flipside.

But I was trying to imagine, if I were a cheated hubby, what would be worse?

For my wife to tell me she had an affair with another married man for a year and a half.

For her to tell me she had a random one night stand, maybe multiple ones

Or for her to tell me she slept with an old friend.

At this point, does it even matter? You would think after the “Cheated on you for a yr and half? that it would be enough.

Maybe I lack imagination, and as such empathy.

The way I see it, that marriage is done. Only question remaining, do I get laid along the way or not?

Butch, if we end up having to do a In Memoriam segment on you at the next draft party, what jersey would you like ceremonially burned? And any parting words for Aaron Vadgers we can pass along?

    • The jersey might have to be CedDrunk. Epitomized all things Bears.

Drafted too high. Didn’t need him. Ineffective. Shunned. Likely cost us a SB. Then, went on and did relatively well on other team, rushing for over 100 on the beloved.

And last parting words to vadgers, “NTTAWWT…

      • AlbertInTucson

CeDrunk did not cost us a SB.

That SB lies squarely at the feet of Lovie and his Idiot OC, Ron Turner who MADE that substitution when the Thomas Jones was chewing up the Colts.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

He did, however, make sure we didn’t sniff another one by stinking it up as the feature back the next year.

Tiny hands and wet balls do not make for a championship QB.

        • Yes but if Cedrunk was NEVER on the roster, that would not have happened.

I felt like they forced him to play cuz they can’t possibly win a SB with their high draft pick riding pine (while maybe watchingThomas Jones becomes MVP).

That’s the way it felt like to me. It was sheer stupidity all around, but CeDrunk was at the center of it.

        • BC

Let’s also not forget the terrible decision by Rex to heave it up into a monsoon that led to the Hayden pick 6 and Moose who absolutely quit on the play. Was the ball SEVERELY underthrown? YES!!!! However, it’s the superbowl, you have to do ANYTHING to make sure that ball isn’t intercepted!

    Judging the draft caveat:

Luke Joeckel was touted as a “Stud” for the Jags.

Jarvis Jones was going to energize the Steeler linebacking corps.

Matt Elam was the next great Ravens’ Safety.

Chance Warmack was possibly “the best in this draft”.

    BZZZT!

They are all among the casualties in the “Options Declined” from the 2013 draft class which includes almost half of 2013’s first round picks.

That might be part of the reason the Bears stood away from Tunsil (though I still think they were targeting Conk).

Someone posted why Joeckel and a few other LTs bombed.

And you’re not even including Cooper who looked like a sure fire OG stud.

  • TE & CB running away w/position of concern poll. Oddly I have them ranked 3-4 behind OL & safety. Vote here: – Jeff

    I’m a bit surprised too.

I know we’re all worried about Miller actually staying healthy, but TEs aren’t that determantive in wins and don’t require major investments.

However, LTs/RTs/OGs/OC ARE, and right now we have HUGE question marks when it comes to Leno, Whitehair, Massie and whoever plays C (esp if it’s Grassu).

DE would probably be my 2nd biggest worry. Have no idea if any of the ones we have can actually impact a game.

    • willbest

I think some of the concern with the TE position is they make outstanding redzone targets.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Is there a Superbowl contender the last few years that has lacked a stud pass catching TE?

        • If not for a stupid pass call, the Seahawks would’ve won without a stud TE.
Panthers had Olsen, who did zilch when it counted.
Broncos were just rolling out whatever TE didn’t suck (benched Davis)

Other than Gronk, I don’t see TEs impacting the game more than LT.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Olsen certainly helped get them there.

          • That’s true. Don’t get me wrong, I think TEs can def help, but the way I frame it.

            Who would you rather suck?

            Miller, or Leno?

I think Cutty and Langford could answer that in a split second.

And that’s not even considering the rest of the Oline.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I don’t disagree, just was too lazy to run the stats… Lol

Daniels managed to get 500 yds didn’t he? The amazing thing to me is that Thomas managed to put up the numbers he did with a QB that had zero arm strength.

      • True, but hypothetically, we’re going to be more run-oriented, and Alshon is practically a TE in the redzone, not even counting White.

Missing Miller would def hurt, but not as much as Leno becoming Webb 2.0

  • America is the only country on earth with a shit load of people who find
soccer boring. Is the problem the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD or us? – Jeff

I think in some ways it has to do with power. Americans admire power. We do everything to be the most powerful. We come from a somewhat frontier mentality where testing your mettle psychically appeals to us.

Soccer is a “beautiful” game. That’s too pussy for most Americans.

Give us our guns, bitches and football where violent athletes try to decapitate each other.

In some ways, it’s the classic strong god (thor) battling the trickster god (loki).

Or as they say in latin, if you’re not strong, you better be clever.

And much like in that classic struggle, nobody actually wins. It’s just a continual cycle.

Who’s ruling us now, the strong or the clever?

    George Will. Republicans for Hillary.
Beat Trump in all 50 states. “Flush” Trumpism from Rep Party like bad koos-koos.
    Hold Hillary to 1 term.
    Reset.

    • Cormonster

Hillary is one of them. An old neocon crony capitalist.

      • You think Trump will be less friendly to Wall St than Hillary?

        • willbest

I don’t see how he could be as friendly as she is.

        • SC Dave

          Certainly no more so.

        • Trac

The IMF is where the real money is. Wall street is just the portal to the black hole. It ain’t gonna be pretty when the worm hole closes, just watch.

      • Cormonster

He’s not taking their money, so he doesn’t owe anyone favors, unlike Hillary. Hillary, Bush, and Bush 2.0 (Obama) all owe(d) huge favors to Wall Street.

        • willbest

Not for nothing, where do you think Trump gets the money to finance all those real estate deals? He also will start taking their money in the general. Trump might have a billion dollars, but he isn’t going to want to spend it. He is going to take Super PAC money.

I will say one thing that I find amazing though. Openscrets has over 1.1 billion spent on the presidential election so far (and its upwards on 30-45 days behind in reporting) and of that Trump secured the GOP nomination for less than $55 million.

And for all the talk about the GOP this cycle the Dems have laid down $440 million.

        • MB30SD

          He IS Wallstreet

      • Irish Sweetness

        And a Bilderberger!

    • willbest

Good idea. That will ingratiate the neo-cons to the 70% of the GOP base that is already fed up with them.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

That would probably do more to turn out his base than anything else.

      • willbest

I can’t tell how serious the #neverTrump republicans are yet. People say stupid things when they are angry. Like I never did throw my shoe. I did however have a stiff drink when Slauson was released.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

They’ve invested a ton of money on media buys in California. Hope they kept the receipts.

    • AlbertInTucson

And elect a pathological liar who should be behind bars. Time to hang up the pen, George.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Why would you speak so ill of the Donald?

        • willbest

Don’t think Donald has committed a jailable offense unless he stiffed an ex-wife or mistress on child support.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

            Keep on thinking that.

  • Irish Sweetness

Another reason Slauson was not released for cash reasons … Lamar Houston is into us for 7M a year … and remains on the team.
