Four Questions for Draft Day

| April 28th, 2016

1. What happens with the quarterbacks? Most believe Paxton Lynch will be gone in the first fifteen picks but will somebody have to move up to get him? Does Connor Cook sneak into the first round? Is the surging Christian Hackenberg a real story? (I know several people who believe Hack is going tonight. I think they’re nuts.) Quarterbacks set the draft’s tone and make organizations do crazy things.

2. The Cowboys, Dolphins, Giants and Bears have all been mocked with Ezekiel Elliot repeatedly. So where does he end up? If teams view him as a superstar, will they be willing to sacrifice a great deal to go up and get him?

3. Will the Bears look to bail out of the eleventh pick? I think this is their hope for tonight, barring someone from the top of their board falling into their laps.

4. How far does Myles Jack – arguably the best player in this draft – fall?

  • Bender McLugh

    First? Well alrighty then.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

      Dammit bender

      • Bender McLugh

but I have so much to offer

        • MB30SD

Yeah, like a robust molly history

          • Bender McLugh

            ROBUST.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

who is on the clock for 2nd?

    • Irish Sweetness

And with the first pick, but really the eleventh, Bender McLugh picks … ?

      • Bender McLugh

I can’t get my head off of Darren Lee, and considering he won’t be there in the 2nd, my hope is Pace trades back to 15 and nabs him.

        edit: Darron Lee

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I knew you were a smart guy, Bender.

          • Shady

            El Oh El

You’re on fire this morning (or evening).

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

That’s not what the USB slot is for.

          • CanadaBear

No Scar of David for you!

  • The biggest thing I took from Pace’s comments yesterday, which were mostly PC fluff, was that they have more than 11 guys on their board. AKA they are very willing to trade down. That was the only somewhat revealing information he gave.

A public declaration to GMs behind him that the pick is officially open for business if a guy they like falls there.

    • Irish Sweetness

For me, the more interesting players are in 10-40. I’d rather three picks in the top 41, than just 2.
Trade down would be sweet, and 11 is a nice spot to do it from for somebody who wants Lynch/Cook.

      • Sactowns#1

Depends on the market but I’m with you. We get a 2nd and 3rd I’m all for it! We get a late 2nd round and that’s it… hell to the nah nah.

  • Ososfan

I’d like the idea of the beloved getting more premium picks and moving back a little if Bucker is not available. Lynch might go early, teams are always crazy like that. A good friend of mine with a tiny “inside source” with the cowboys says that is Boss is there, The boys get him. Myles Jack, I hope is taken early, a step closer to getting Buckner!

  • Irish Sweetness

    1. Going with the 3 QBs drafted within the top ten. Somebody to trade up for Cook/Lynch. Broncos? Side order of Wentz to go first and putting egg on EVERY media expert’s face.

    2. Zeke to go to Dallas or Cleveland.

    3. I hope we bail out of spot 11. More players, not just one good one. Trading down possibly allows us to get 3 out of 4 of these guys: Darron Lee, Derrick Henry, Jihad Ward, Reggie Regland. That’s sexual chocolate right there.

    4. Has Raiders pick written all over it. Or the clusterfuck that is Cleveland.

    5. My offering is that San Diego do not go with Buckner, and go with Tunsil instead .. and putting egg on EVERY media expert’s face.

    How do we draft?

    1. Floyd.
    2. Jihad.
    3. Howard

With no bailout, hope we get :

    1. Hargreaves / Floyd
    2. Henry
    3. Jihad / Best DE

    • burntorangenavyblue

Anyone could use some sexual chocolate in their lives now and then

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

    Waffles key to the draft:
    1. Don’t draft nerd ass headcases that would get choked out in the pre Goodell nfl
    2. No whites
    3. No pick that you’d feel semi comfortable with your daughter going on a date with.(brock vereen rule)
    4. No QB

    • MB30SD

      No whites. Baaahahahahahhaa

    • burntorangenavyblue

No pool jumper too, right? Hehe

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

No pool jumpers…if that is his only calling card. If he just so happened to jump out of a pool after a game where he had 5 sacks and a forced fumble against a national champion that is different….unless he’s white and the national champion was a DIV 2 national champion.

  • MB30SD

I’m with oso, my surprise holy shit event for us is that buckner falls into our lap

  • MB30SD

    Happy Man Christmas my bitches!

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Pace has been very quiet about one move…….a trade up to get Buckner. Bank it.

    • Irish Sweetness

If he trades up, I’m feeling Ramsey is available at 6 …surer thing? Again, I don’t watch these guys week in week out, but watching his tape I wasn’t thinking “Wow, I hope we get HIM!” it was more … “really?”.

      • MB30SD

Ramsey won’t make it past 4, 5 at the most

        • willbest

Depends on if the Boys fancy themselves a QB

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Yes, please baby Jebus, let the top 3 QBs go in the top 4 picks.

          • BC

Rumor has it that they like Zeke.

    • Ososfan

I pray to the holy Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene for this to happen.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Happy Birthday to me! I hope that Pace and co. rocks this draft so hard that the Bean falls over nearby. My mother in law works near there and she said it is crazy over there with activities and events

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Went down the list of CBS draft prospects rankings and applied Waffle’s rules.
First guy that didn’t fail any of the tests?
    Tunsil.
Where’s there’s smoke there is fire, and those 7 j’s didn’t just end up in his room by accident.
    But that’s who I’d take.

    • MB30SD

On board with this is buckner is gone

  • burntorangenavyblue

Btw….my daughter was born a few weeks ago and both her and my wife are doing great!

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

      Congrats man, good work!

I want Pace to pull off the following – don’t care how.
    1) Lee
    2) Joseph
    3) Ward
And then Fox will unleash the hounds next year.

    • willbest

I would prefer he release the Kraken

  • burntorangenavyblue

I am hoping for trading down a few spots, unless a stud falls in our laps at 11. I see that Bears are still in rebuild mode, so trading up is to me best for if you think the team is only a piece or two from being a surefire powerhouse contending team. Right now, no point in giving up the farm, especially since we aren’t sure what the QB situation is in near future. Stockpile the picks to ensure great options going forward.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Maybe it’s just me and Irish, but I watched Buckner vs. Conklin and went…meh. He’s an imposing physical specimen but didn’t really do anything that jumped out. He didn’t have much of a pass rush, and didn’t swarm to the running back.

    • Irish Sweetness

Whereas Jihad gravitates towards the ball, wherever it is on the field. He just seems to be there.

Lock down Hargreaves, grab Jihad, hopefully get Howard, enjoy the rest of the draft!

Then when Wilkerson has signed his tender, maybe give up next year’s first (32nd pick!) and sign him! Top 5 defense!! Likery?

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Yeah, Ward at Iowa was everywhere, and he played at every single position on the line that game. Vs. the Buckeyes, he was doubled on something like 70% of the snaps. They gameplanned around him, and that says something.

    • I agree. Buckner is a lot like Long in that they’re huge projects.

Long came out roses, but there’s a reason only 56% of 1st rounders pan out.

  • Irish Sweetness
    • willbest

Abusive greedy step father. Don’t 1/4th the players in the NFL have those? Pretty sure there is a protocol.

      • burntorangenavyblue

Did you read about the scouting report about someone not being able to cook? Lmao

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

      Lots of family drama there.

    • CanadaBear

You can tell the story is being fed by the step dad’s attorney. Poor, poor, overpowered veteran being assaulted by a huge powerful man for absolutely no reason. Or not. I’m guessing LT has locked this fucker out of the vault.

  • CanadaBear
    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Interesting that the Packers are basically coasting at this point.
      And we have sucked.

      • BC

        Two words….Aaron Rodgers.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

          Their big 3…
          Nelson
          Rodgers
          Matthews

        • MB30SD

          One word.

          MOTHERFUCKINGDEAD!!!!

          • BC

2 points for you, I get the assist.

    • BC

Emery really screwed himself by not taking Chandler Jones.

  • EnderWiggin

Wasn’t there supposed to be an ‘Art of Men’ contest today?

    • MB30SD

Have you not been a regular for years?!

      • EnderWiggin

I guess I just missed something.

        • Ribeyes for Operators

          There re no prizes, really.

          There is no spoon.

          • CanadaBear

After the steak knives, the prizes are pretty crappy.

          • Some random troll we never heard of mysteriously “wins”.

            Mmmhm.

Somewhere in NYJ, Jeff has a closet full of Jordan Wheatie’s Boxes…my precious..

    • CanadaBear

Contest is still on, the prizes are being held in escrow.

  • burntorangenavyblue

How often do you see D2 players being drafted and has that talent translated well into the NFL?

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I can tell you that the best player in the 160 year history of my D-3 college got drafted last in the draft years ago, and never played a regular season down.
In 2015, there were 120 NFL players from D-2 schools, including our very own Zach Miller.

      • burntorangenavyblue

The hype is insane for Wentz. I mean, really, if someone was THAT GOOD, they really should have played in a D1 school. I’m sure plenty of teams would have needed him on that level.

        • willbest

On the flip side he probably isn’t throwing to the best crop of WRs.

          • burntorangenavyblue

But he’s played D2 schools…does that mean anything? Who knows?

Just glad Bears aren’t giving the farm up for him. I have another year of teasing my friend who is an Eagles fan

      • Big Mike

Was on a team with a guy that had a long career in the NFL. Matched up opposite in drills. The difference was obvious. You could be in the stands 50 rows up watching practice and you’d say “oh.. that one is different”.

  • beninnorcal

    Merry Christmas everyone!

    • CanadaBear

This is better than X-mas. I don’t have to buy a bunch of crappy presents.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

true but there will still be a lot of people disappointed in the gifts they received.

        • CanadaBear

True Dat! For once they won’t be disappointed with the gift from me.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

as long as the wrapping paper is not white…

      • Shady

True… But we won’t be able to “open” and “play with” our gifts until the Fall. We just get to put them in the corner, admire how shiny they look and talk about how fun they’re going to be once we take them out of the box and put them into action.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

just hope we don’t break their leg while unwrapping them like last year

          • burntorangenavyblue

            Omg….just had to remind me

            *sheds a tear

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

look on the bright side, we got him a new leg and we finally get to “play with” him this year.

      • Doc Nitty

And it’s the birthday of every franchise’s savior.

        • CanadaBear

At least for a little while.

  • Doc Nitty

Hmmm. What to eat tonight? Hard to say, I just know it won’t be chicken dinner.

    • CanadaBear

I had chicken and a salad last night. Can’t have the same thing two nights in a row.

    • Ososfan

Shea does not approved this message. Ha

    • Scharfinator

Pizza and beer, me and the lady always go watch the first round together. She’s in it for the stories… I’m in it for the more obvious reasons – the touching family moments!

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Wings and beer and Wings and beer.

      • CanadaBear

Probably gonna need some solvent for all that chicken grease. Tradewinds Baby!!

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Tradewind can get blood stains off of clothing and furniture….coincidentally caused by drinking Tradewind.
Tradewind can eliminate any event from happening by allowing you to not remember it so completely that there is no way it could have happened.
Tradewind can cure cancer…because it is cancer in liquid form.

          • CanadaBear

I used to drink Ripple Red but switched to Ripple Pear because it didn’t leave stains!

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

            smart

  • CanadaBear

MB, are you paying any attention to Team Sky/British Cycling taking a shit kicking in the press? Pretty funny stuff. The women are crying sexism and the men are telling them to get over it. Team Sky/BC have been on a golden run the last few years with very little bad press. Looks like that’s all changed. Considering Team Sky/BC’s success it was only a matter of time before the grinch knocked on their door. No doubt in my mind Team Sky/BC have been cheating (when almost the entire team seems to be in better shape than almost the entire peloton, something seems fishy). Oh well.

    • burntorangenavyblue

That realm of sports and its coverage is like Bizzaro world to me, no disrespect to anyone really into it.

Their handling of when their members cheat and such is terrible because it makes the sport become more and more less liked.

      • CanadaBear

It’s a crazy, old world sport. If the big sports in the US had the same drug testing, they would catch athletes all the time. It seems like the press are a pack of sharks and swim from story to story. They fall totally in line with the powerful people in the sport until there is a hint of controversy and then they go nuts.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

If the Eagles pick Lynch, I think I should get a guest column.
If the Bears pick Lee, well, that in itself is its own reward.

  • Shady

I feel like the Bears are going to draft a guy in the first round (Joseph?) that people will say they could have gotten in the second, and then draft a guy in the second round (Ragalnd?) that they people thought they could have taken in the first.

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

as long as they are ballers….Dooooonnnnn’tttt Care!!!

    • CanadaBear

After picking CD in his first draft, people were openly mocking him for the Long pick the following year. The next year the press gives him some love for Fuller. The press (and everyone else) were correct about CD and totally wrong about Long and Fuller.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Murph and I were pissed when Long got picked – I got the facebook memory reminder yesterday…funny.

        • CanadaBear

Since I don’t know the college players at all, I was worried because he had so little experience but liked the pedigree. Had no idea he would turn into my favorite Bear after Peanut left.

        • Shady

Maybe you can google it and post the link, but I remember Big Mike flipping out on da blog about it too.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Fuller made him look like a genius the first four games of his rookie year though.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Given the risk/reward of draft prospects anyway, I feel it would be idiotic to pass up Jaylon Smith if he’s available in the 2nd and absolutely in the 3rd. Taking him in the top 2/3 of the first is just too politically risky for most front offices, but in a vacuum, I think it’d be worth it.

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

you’d have to be insane not to take him in the 3rd. Insane.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Is this just to screw with everybody else? Or did the shield want to ensure no leaks?

Rams will not tell new QB they're picking him until they're on the clock, per source. Expectation is Rams draft Goff 1, Eagles draft Wentz 2— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 28, 2016

    • CanadaBear

If it’s true, it’s the shield.

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

it’s probably also because they are having a huge expensive party out in LA for the new team for select fans.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I hate their owner. That guy left a development in my city sitting empty the past couple of years, rather than negotiating to sell. Just didn’t give a shit.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

perfect place to sell yo crack

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Gotta have hobbies, these gold plated balls ain’t paying for themselves.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

            you ornamentalized?

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

They put lights on the Eiffel Tower, don’t they?

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

there have been other years that the 1st overall pick wasn’t announced the draft started.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I suppose it doesn’t do anybody any good, and if the selection decides to do a header off a balcony 30 seconds before the pick is in…then hey, we changed our minds!

    • Captain Obvious

I subscribe to the theory that the Eagles traded up to draft Lynch.

I certainly hope this is true. I will laugh my ass off if it happens.

    When it pays to be picked 2nd. #NFLDraft2016 #Taxes pic.twitter.com/GK5a9JKF3M— Robert Raiola, CPA (@SportsTaxMan) April 27, 2016

That’s a net -300k loss in salary, but I’m guessing he’ll make it up in endorsements.

    • willbest

      Football players get endorsements?

Incidentally, the taxes for multi-state performers are ridiculous. But the result to your bottom line is you pay the highest income tax available (your state of residence or the state you perform in). And then there is the issue pointed out every year where the wealthy players on the Super Bowl teams end up losing money when the NFL is dickish enough to hold it in NJ or CA

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

You’re kidding with the first question, right?

        • willbest

I know people like Tom Brady do. I am talking about rookies not named Luck and RGIII.

Most I have ever seen Long do is read on the radio. They aren’t getting 300k for that.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Brady is only the 6th highest paid NFL player in terms of endorsements.

Long is an offensive guard for a team that hasn’t sniffed the playoffs in a couple of years.
You’re comparing him with a quarterback from Cali, going #1 in the draft to a team making a splash in the largest media market in the world (with the full weight of the NFL behind them).
I think if he doesn’t suck moose wang, he’ll probably pick up 300k in endorsements mostly by showing up.

          • willbest

The point being, face of franchise with demonstrated talent get paid real money. Even beloved fan favorites in football towns though aren’t exactly rolling in the extra cash. No doubt the Rams will want his name and face out there and will pay to do it. The question remains will somebody like Subway want to do it and pay him accordingly.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

If Goff has a non-brain addled agent, your question will get answered pretty shortly.
MY point is, yes, NFL players can make real money in endorsements, especially the ones playing quarterback in major media markets. He has already signed a deal with Nike, like the top 2 last year did.
I have very little doubt that Winston and Mariotta are both making at least $300k a year in endorsement money, and they have much less marketing potential given where they play.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Alex “who?” Smith made $500k in endorsements last year, and he plays in the bleakest market in the country and has no discernible personality.
I think it’s safe to say, we can just stop there.

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Based on Pace’s “competition” comment from yesterday I’m now thinking we go OT with first pick and DE/DL with 2nd pick after moving up in the 2nd round. No fucking way that Leno is given that job.

I’m going to pull a Walter Football and change my prediction every hour until the draft.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse
    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

My favorite part is the reminder of how high a few of you…I mean, us…were on Manti Te’o at the time.
(disclaimer – I don’t think I said anything nice about him at any time)

      • Big Mike

A bit like the love for Myles Jack?

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

watching Myles Jack play college football was like watching a dad play keep away from his sons and their little friends.

          • Big Mike

There is no doubt he is a talented ball player. Something about his knee having a limited life span. I can’t remember what I read. Enough to think “not worth the risk”. But I trust Pace. If he’s there and Pace takes him, well they must have checked him out 1000%. Could be why we haven’t heard of any links between the Bears and M.Jack.

          • I trust Pace, but do I trust Chicago Drs? Holy shit, man, we’ve been burned so many times by those pricks on picks.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Te’o would have been awesome. He got hurt. he’s a legit 3-4 ILB which ironically would fit well with what we’re doing now.

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

He was so damn slow!!! Even his pro-day 40 was like a 4.7+ (and he ran slower than Big Mike at the combine!)…but yes, if he could stay healthy, he’d be somewhat better than average.

          • After he ran his 40, I was off that wagon.

            Slave auctions aren’t entirely useless.

Always fun to look at these old threads, some real gems in there including Waffle’s old Merriwrather avatar.

Here’s a link to the draft day thread,

      http://www.chicagonow.com/da-bears-blog/2013/04/opening-round-draft-thread-tee-shirt-contest/

Reactions to the Long pick start about 2/3rds of the way down.

Dude, what is with you today? linking to gnome code, pictures of slow white safeties, you are just asking to be struck down by a higher power.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

8 hours until we pick – I’m trying to stay frosty

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

      What happened to Fres????

    • I DEF did not like the Long pick initially.

I thought it was another Shea reach. At the time, Long only played 2 years of football, was gonna turn 23-24 by the time season started, and more productive prospects were still on the board.

I wanted Eifert and OG Warford in the 2nd/3rd.

Not sure if I was wrong, but Long panned out.

Still, it seemed like an unnecessary reach.

Emery just doubled down too many times, which is why he’s watching the draft from his couch like us.

      • Big Mike

        How’s warford doing?

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Great as a rookie, shitty since then.
I wanted us to go up and get Jonathan Martin if we were gonna draft o-line, or go after Sheldon Richardson (but Jets got him first).
Martin has been an injury factory.

          • Warford did have a great rook year, but I thought he did ok the other years too (and he ended up being a 3rd rounder).

            I remember that draft.

            I wanted

            1. Eifert
            2. Kiko Alonso (perhaps Honeybadger)
            3. Warford

and the previous yr I wanted Chandler Jones, like everyone else on the planet.

In this Butch reality, Eifert, KIko, Warford and Chandler Jones, I would still be GMing the Bears while Emery fetches me an expresso.

          • That being said, who’s to say Dr. Death wouldn’t have ruined those players?

(then again, I wouldn’t have hired that pussy to coach the beloved).

          • Ribeyes for Operators

Death and Tucker would have fucked Chandler Jones career FUBAR.

          • Big Mike

Here’s my fascination with the draft. More than who gets picked, because you can’t really “know” anything other than look at college tape and project, hope etc, I like the draft because it gives a look into the thinking process of the the men Bears brain trust. I don’t want to scratch my head when the first round pick is called.

  • Doc Nitty

    Quick Blog Poll:

Who will you watch for your draft coverage?

NFL Network (new school), ESPN (old school), other (no school)?

Me, I’m an old schooler, though I do flip around.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

      old school also, ESPN

      • Doc Nitty

It’s tough because I like Mayock more than Kiper. But I also like Chucky and despise michael Irvin. I think Rich Eisen is good, but unlike many on this blog, I’ve always loved Berman. He was the voice of my bears in my youth, when the only coverage I got was on NFL Primetime.

        • MB30SD

          Berman is a fucking clown

          • Doc Nitty

            Maybe, but he’s my clown.

        • Yeah, I like Mayock, but Kiper and Berman are kinda entertaining.

I almost never watch ESPN anymore, so maybe I’ll change it up just for today.

    • MB30SD

      Yup

      • Big Mike

POX gets one head scratcher, doesn’t he? Taking a QB says, this guy was higher on my draft board then all of these other guys. Must mean they think he can play. I can’t tell you how bummed I was when the Bears took Kyle Long. I love taking linemen, Kyle long had 4 games of experience against D1 opponents, was 25 years old and was an OG, who could have been picked up in the 2nd round. By game 2, I had his jersey, because you could tell he was a beast. He actually looked better against NFL competition than he did in college.

        • MB30SD

          NO!

          • Big Mike

LMAO. I’m just not going to be disappointed tonight. I’m going to celebrate the maneuver.

  • Ribeyes for Operators

I say we raid Draft Town down the street like Orcs attacking the white city.

We take hostages until CBS agrees to replace Dan Dierdorf.

Also, we want Joe Buck replaced with her:
    http://static0.therichestimages.com/cdn/1000/1503/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/hawtcelebs.com_.jpg

Because Joe Buck sucks. He’s somehow faux masculine. All I can think of when I see him is a guy on the lam from a felony.

    • MB30SD

      yes please!

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Yikes, heart defect flagged on Ragland. I thought it was highly unlikely we went for him before, but now I think it’s impossible.

Sources: #Bama LB Reggie Ragland was flagged for an enlarged aorta, which requires yearly monitoring. Some teams have pushed him down a bit— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 28, 2016

    • Big Mike

I don’t know anything about that condition, but from where the Bears’ sit the only thing they can’t do is get a guy in round 1 like Shea McLellin who sucks, or a Columbo/Carimi who are injured.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse
      • DaMurph

Columbo was healthy coming out, he took a bad knee injury (dislocated patella and femoral nerve damage) against the Rams early on. Carimi had the bad back from the get go.

        • Big Mike

Carimi was the one. That’s right. Just don’t want any question marks with the guy we take, because there are so many good options. Trust the boys have done their work and are not trying to get cute/outsmart everyone and take a gamble on a guy in round 1, who might have health issues.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Saints went after Carimi’s knee IIRC…

          • DaMurph

            Totally with you on that

    • He also has the unfortunate condition “Roboitus”

It’s when a LB is so stiff that he looks like Robocop chasing chickens.

  • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Remember that we’re going to get a young pass catching TE in a trade with the Saints tonight. Josh Hill I believe his name was. 6’5 250 like to score TD’s.

That’s crap. Long won’t beat out either Carimi or Webb. For 1 to beat Carimi he has to learn how to play inside. 2 to beat Webb and Scott out in his first year, won’t happen. Sharif Floyd on the Board? Tyler Eifert, Desmond Trufant, Ogltree?

I don’t know. I would have taken Eifert, that guy is the next Tony Gonz. We could have had a killer air attack and gotten Long at 50. I think maybe Emery is a schmuck., And now the Bungles get Eifert. Fuckity fuck.

    • Big Mike

I looked at that and I feel shame. I was going through a tough time and drinking too much. Serious.. And I did not like the pick. I came on the board the next day and apologized. I think I got into it with Shady.

      • Ribeyes for Operators

Shady goes on to compare Eifert to a weaker Coby Fleener. He may again be right about that.

The funniest one is when Irish chimes in lamenting that we took Long, and we coulda picked Manti Teo. That nearly made me piss myself laughing.

        • Eifert sure didn’t look weaker than Fleener last season (FF WIN!)

I think I still hold to my original altenate reality draft board.

          1#1Eifert, #2Kiko Alonso, #3 Warford.

OGs are a dime-o-dozen. We picked up Slauson without having to give up a #1 or pay a king’s ransom.

And almost all da bloggers didn’t like the Long pick UNLESS he became a RT/LT, which we now know is not going to happen.

To me, I just consider draft value, and why I wouldn’t draft Zeke unless all else is gone.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

            Totally valid points.

          • willbest

Sure competent Guards are routinely cap casualties, Long is an All-Pro guard though.

          • I think I said at the time that Long better be a PBer for that pick to hit, and he def looks like that caliber player.

But I’m a bit risk averse, esp in the 1st, esp when we’ve failed so spectacularly so many times in the 1st, esp when we drafted a huge project the yr b4 in Shea.

I def would’ve gone Eifert (who the Bengals took 30 secs to draft right after us).

Whether a good OG is great value at #20 overall is another debate.

But this is why I brought up whether Conklin (RT imo) at #11 would be good value.

I think it would, but I can understand if some would argue that RT at #11 is too high.

    • Ososfan

I was happy with Long I tried to look for my comments but I must have been drunk on the Bears kool-aid that day. I was hoping for Eifert though.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Myles Jack is dropping like he has 100-lb rocks tied to his ankles.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Which would of course not be good for his knee.

    • Sactowns#1

Well if we trade down in the first and get 2 second rounder’s then I would take a flyer on him in the 2nd round. Otherwise, pass.

    • “micro-fracture surgery” is like “herpes” to GMs.

      • MB30SD

I don’t like the sound of either of those

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

He could have space herpes and I would not care.
But anytime somebody is considering surgery down the road like what they did to Greg Oden, it is cause for concern.
The issue to me is whether it’s likely he has any need for it in the next 3-4 years. Glad I don’t have to make that call.

          • Charlie Casserly told an interesting story. Casserly asked Parcell’s why he drafted Curtis Martin who many teams had redflagged medically.

Casserly asked, “Don’t you think he’s a short term player?”

To which Parcell’s responded, “Now thanks to FA, they’re ALL short-term players. You’d be lucky to get more than 4 yrs out of them”

It’s an interesting school of thought.

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I think Jack got in trouble a couple of days ago for saying basically the same thing.
50% of the kids that are rookies this year will be gone by year 3 (I believe that’s accurate). I’m assuming the dropoff is greatest in the first year and then slows down from year two on.

          • willbest

Its a bit better than that. Something like the average career of somebody that makes it to training camp is 3 years, but for somebody that makes the week 1 53-man roster its 6 years.

A lot of that is bolstered by the fact that somebody that makes it to the 53-man roster might find himself bouncing around practice squads until his eligibility runs out.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

it’s funny when someone talks about keeping a guy for 10yrs. It’s cute actually. Anyone besides a QB is long gone if they’re any good…

My theory is that millennials raised in the upper quintile spent 18 years of parent encouraged/enforced dedication to self in order to achieve that perfect college application. The result is most of them aren’t especially creative, lack genuine empathy, and are surprisingly easy to manipulate.

        ha, be honest.

        • Ribeyes for Operators

          for whom? Zeke?

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Ramsey or Buckner. Both positions are desperately needed for the D to take the next step.
Gotta give Fangio toys to tinker with

          • I seriously doubt Ramsey escapes the top 5.

            Buckner is interesting.

            He’s a specimen, but his tape isn’t all-world.

A team would have to absolutely believe they can coach him up to trade up for him.

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

We need a Cullen Jenkins. Pittsburgh got their 3-4 monster with Stephon Tuitt from ND the other year. We need ours.

          • I doubt Buckner gets past the 9ers.

They still have Fangio’s imprint on D, so whatever fits our D, will fit theirs, and they’ll continually suck more than we do,, so they’ll be stealing our D studs for drafts to come 🙁

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

but luckily they need O line so badly. I think they take an OT

          • That’s true to, esp with the Davis debacle going on.

            Stanley over Buckner?

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

            trade for Davis?

            Then trade up for Buckner?

Kill all birds with 2 huge dark meat magic mountains!!!???

          • I would. Davis want OUT.

Dont ever think I heard a player call out a team, GM like that. It’s like when George Constanza was trying to get fired.

        • DaMurph

Dammit you got a way with words!

    • Big Mike

I was wondering the same thing. It is an odd feeling, but I have the utmost confidence in whatever move they make. If they move up, good move because they had a guy they really wanted and the chips to go get him. They’d be saying we like this guy so much he’s worth giving up say a 3rd round pick. To do that they aren’t just drafting a starter. They believe they are drafting a guy to build around.

If they trade back, they are saying we’ve got X guys we would like to have in rd 1, and we are moving back x-1 spots and picking a draft pick (4th round?).

The move that I had not thought about, was trading back into the first round for a second bite at the apple..

      • willbest

Really? I know you can’t judge a draft class by 1 year, but I didn’t see anything out of last year’s class that would lead me to having that level of confidence in Pace. Best I can say is there is nothing indicating they are going to be an embarrassment, which is a plus considering its always hard to come into these things with other people’s scouting reports, plus what you remember from your old organization

        • Big Mike

I don’t know what you are looking at but 4 of the 6 players started last year and were improvements over who they replaced. When you get starters from rounds 2,3,4 and 5. With the 2nd and 4th and 5th round picks (Goldman, Langford, Amos) looking to range from long term starter to pro-bowler, you’ve done pretty well. Add in the value from the 7th pick in the entire draft and you have a foundational draft. Throw in the great work he did with the UDFAs last year and his 2 FA classes, Fox has done amazing.

          • willbest

Sure but we had 9 open positions on defense so its not like they won the jobs against seasoned vets. Plus the regular season injuries creating opportunities.

His FA last season was only okay. McPhee was great, but it looks like we got holding the bag on Rolle and Royal. I will say his ability to dumpster dive was exceptionally impressive. Either that are Vic/Fox’s D is as close to idiot proof as you can get.

          • Big Mike

If you’re looking for worse case and want to paint a negative picture. Go ahead. You might be the only person I’ve chatted with, read or talked with about last years bears draft class who had a negative opinion of what
Fox did. Coupled with his FA maneuvers and adding to the fact that this will be his first draft with his own scouting operation I stand by my comment if having great confidence.

Also our draft position, the extra picks he acquired and our cap position.

          • willbest

I don’t have a negative position, its more neutral. And I have a lot of faith in the coaching staff to put out a competitive product. But home runs? Because that is what you need for a championship.

          • Big Mike

So there. Grades not done on the draft class. But they know they have players. None are less than they projected, they all have untapped upside that the staff can get out of them.

If this class is as good, plus a solid first round guy who warrants his draft slot I dare say the Bears will have turned the corner and can begin aiming at championships

    • Ososfan

Not looking likely this year, maybe next year.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

        maybe Osos, maybe.

      • Yup, only trade up to get that last final piece to the ring.

    • Shady

If they do, it will only be up a spot or two. Can’t imagine they would mortgage the future for a single pick (no matter how good) when there are so many needs on this roster.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

lol, devastating needs like the decimated Running Back position where teams struggle year in and year out to find someone that can somehow man the position barely filled by…practically…anyone in major conference Div 1 college football and even Div 2.

  • AlbertInTucson

Forget what I said previously about taking Myles Jack at 11 if he should fall there.

He, himself, talked to the NY Post about possibly, eventually needing micro-fracture surgery on that knee.

That’s does it for my interest in Mr. Jack.

  • AlbertInTucson

Al, what did we discuss regarding white players and QB’s taken past the 1st round? I thought we were in agreement that No Whites Allowed and No late round QB picks that have no chance of ever playing was a solid company policy.

      • AlbertInTucson

I never subscribed to that theory and I saw a LOT of Mr. Hogan out here in PAC-12 land.

200,000 people came to Chicago for Draft Town last year. Financial estimates are $100M to the city in revenue and sales tax in, most of that goes right back out for union work, builders, permits, grift – usual city stuff.

Roger initially saw Draft Town as a travelling roadshow, each year a new city. But Chicago has managed a 2nd bite at the apple, and maybe a longer term home.

Why do I bring this up? It’s not something Chuy Fucking Garcia would have gotten done.

    • Captain Obvious

Supposed to be going to Philly next year, then probably LA the year after.

    • willbest

Yeah Roger said he doubts it will be in Chicago next year. Also $100 million in city revenue is horseshit. That would mean people are bringing over $1 billion dollars in new money into the city.

CBS says Zeke for us in this one

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25569355/nfl-mock-draft-chargers-take-buckner-elliott-tumbles-to-bears

Langford does line up in the slot. Langford COULD do most of the same routes that Unicorn did, but w/o the height. Unicorn had stone hands last year, so Langford is not a downgrade there.

Point is: there are offensive sets to be had with White, Jeffery, Zeke and Langford all on the field at once.

    • Captain Obvious

I still say it’s delusional to draft Matt Forte 2.0 (slightly less of a receiving threat, but slightly better short-yardage) when there are bigger needs and players available.

Langford needs a tryout to see if he’s Forte 2.0. If not, there will be another very good RB available next year. RBs are a dime a dozen now.

    • willbest

Somebody at CBS is old school if they allowed “Zeke tumbles to Bears” through. No RB drafted in the first round these days can be described as tumbling.

      • Ribeyes for Operators

I just don’t see Pace as a guy with that dated “franchise back” GM mentality. Bellicheat has completely destroyed that.

  • AlbertInTucson

“I love taking chance on potential superstars. If Jack is there at 11 I hope Pace pulls the trigger.”

Not if he’s looking at micro fracture issues.

  • Captain Obvious

So, which of the top 20-ranked players (give or take) would you fly off the handle with rage if the Bears took?

    (using this list: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/tracker?icampaign=draft-sub_nav_bar-drafteventpage-tracker#dt-tabs:dt-by-grade)

Ragland is the only one I’d lose it about. Of course I’d flip out if the Bears took a QB in round 1, but no highly-ranked QB will be there at #11, so I’m not worried.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Ragland has an “Enlarged Aorta.”

      • willbest

Wow they give these people contrast MRIs or something? pretty intense slave auction.

      • Captain Obvious

Yeah, that’s why I’d flip out. Not only do we have Freeman and Trevathan, it would be insanity to spend the 11 pick on someone with such a big red flag. Especially after that guy we got from Tampa–what was his name?

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

      Zeke, Will Fuller and Ragland

    • Shady

No matter what the pick, people shouldn’t overract one way or the other. I know we get so worked up about the draft, but like Jeff says it’s a crapshoot and we won’t know how well or how poorly these teams drafted until the prospects actually get on an NFL football field.

      • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

haha, you’re just trying to sound diplomatic so when we look back in 2yrs you can be right again.

  • Ribeyes for Operators

This is not the “guess the pick” thread – but I don’t care about the contest anyway so here is my TRUE guess as to Pace’s intentions:

I think Fangio and Fox see the same thing as SB Nation does. I see it on the tubez, that’s for sure. This kid jumps off the damn screen.

    http://www.sbnation.com/2016/4/27/11497538/nfl-draft-breakdown-2016-defensive-lineman-chris-jones-mississippi-state

I think we perhaps shock and go Jones.

    • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

I watched his tape, mentally puts Jets green on him and it was Mo Wilkerson man. Big fucking Mo.

      • Ribeyes for Operators

Watching him disrupt a 3rd rate team like Mizzou is fun. Fangio must look at this and say “if I could just teach that kid how to use his arms and proper inside hand fighting”

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

Chris Jones is the ultimate pickup if the Bears trade back. I just think the safer pick is the more pro ready guy in A’Shawn if we stay at 11. It’s safe and comfy. Comfy like him landing on a QB.

    • Will POX get rid of Bennett then get a “loafer”?

      • Ribeyes for Operators

I think the kid is a product of his Miss. St surroundings. Unicorn was an entitled egotist who checked out on his team (when he wasn’t fighting them). Nothing with this kid suggests that.

if anything, this kid reminds me of a “loafer” that came out of Clemson that Dan Hampton called “biscuit”.

In a 3-4 he can move up and down the line and just smashmouth. If the play gets outside of him, in a 3-4 there’s not so much responsibility to hustle your ass to the sidelines. Your job at LDE is to place a hurt on the T or T-G combo and he can do that.

    • MB30SD

      Can’t fix lazy yo.

      No way

      • Ribeyes for Operators

Watch this kid walk all over Mizzou lineman like they were children keeping him from the soda fountain. The QB has nightmares about # 98.

He’s just got so much talent. 6’5″, 310. 21 years old. Damn.

  • Captain Obvious

    Speaking of delusional:

“The Lions are having a draft party tonight at their facility and have a very long line of valets to park cars. Seriously.”

    • willbest

Are their facilities in Detroit? I wouldn’t want to walk around down there after dark.

  • AlbertInTucson

“Never understand the analysis: “Jack has huge health risks. Bears won’t go there at 11. He’s more likely to go 20th.” What’s the difference?”

The difference is, other players WITHOUT health question marks now look more attractive than a guy WITH a health question mark. That moves Jack down. Especially in a draft, supposedly, rich in front 7 help.

After his comment to the NY Post, the question Mark over Jack just got bigger. The micro fracture comment came from HIM, not some unnamed source who may be just trying to push Jack down to a draft slot where his team could snag him.

Add in the fact that the Bears, who drafted a #1 last year who didn’t see the field last season, would be BARBECUED if that took him and the health issues were real.

    • willbest

People drafting in the top 10 are drafting there for a reason. People drafting after 20 are likewise drafting there for a reason. As somebody said yesterday Jack can now skip over all the teams in multi-year rebuilds and go play for a contender.

There’ll be at least 3 more trades in the 1st.

    1. For Zeke in the top 10
    2. In the teens for some guy who unexpectedly falls
    3. In the mid-late 20s to draft QB Paxton Lynch.

    – There’ll be a run on OTs/Rush early.

    Bold and crazy

    – Bucs will make the 1st WTF pick

    – Bosa will drop, Lloyd will rise.

    – Stanley will get drafted before Tunsil

    Wild Card

    – Myles Jack will look awkward as they keep panning to him

    • Shady

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Problem is, that o line still sucks. Believe they restructured a deal as well but not interested in researching it at the moment.

  • DBB Draft Rule: if u get the pick ahead on Twit, DON’T RUIN IT 4 US HERE

If I wanted to be the first to know instead of taking in Da Blog experience, I too would be on twitter.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Let the feeding frenzy begin!

  • AlbertInTucson

    Let’s GO already, Rams!

  • AlbertInTucson

    Foot tapping impatiently.

    • willbest

The radio spit it out already

      • Shady

        Easyyyy…

      • AlbertInTucson

        Not FoxSports radio.

  • AlbertInTucson

Right now, the Rams are the guy in front of you in the checkout line who is A) Paying by check and B) Doesn’t reach for the checkbook until the checker rings up his total.

    • WP4Life

Even worse. The women her forgot something and goes back into the aisles to retrieve it while the check out person has already started her and can’t bypass .

      • AlbertInTucson

I can find THAT line in a HEARTBEAT!

        Also,

Shift change. Checkers have to switch their cash drawers.

        or

Register tape runs out. Replacing it is like brain surgery.

        or

Every item is a “Price Match”.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

and the new checker is still in training.

        • WP4Life

          Got me laughing so true

  • AlbertInTucson

    Goodell booed lustily!

  • willbest

I am shocked by this pick

  • AlbertInTucson

Oh what a SURPRISE pick! No WONDER it took 10 minutes. Piss on Jeff Fisher.

  • AlbertInTucson

    DaBearsBlog ‎@dabearsblog
“Milking time of first pick doesn’t create drama. It creates utter boredom.”

    +1,000.

    • willbest

      Victory formation

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

Qb and zeke before 11, pls.

  • AlbertInTucson

    #2Pick. ANOTHER shocker!

    • willbest

Could have lynch. Who hopefully goes in the top 10 as well

  • Shady

    Now it begins.

  • Now, the real draft begins

  • willbest

i am liking the Disqus ad with a heathy dose of side boob.

  • SC Dave

    So much for getting Bosa

    • willbest

A bit of a surprise he went at 3

  • Shady

No way Bosa was dropping. Too good to pass up for da CHAAAAJAHS.

    • wow. No wonder the chargers suck!

I think Bosa will have a Chris Long type career.

      • MB30SD

        Totally agree

    • willbest

Falling out of top 10 no but first non qb?

      • Shady

Yes. If you don’t draft a QB, draft a guy who will kill or protect one.

        • SC Dave

          This

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

Crap all the white guys are getting picked.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    Crossing fingers… Buckner

    • willbest

      Not getting below 6

  • MB30SD

    Classic chargers pick. Meeeeeh

    • DaMurph

      Bit of a surprise

      • MB30SD

My chargers buddies that I’m sitting with right now are like wtf?! Ok with it, but surprised.

        I don’t like him

        • SC Dave

          Seeking JJ Watt

        • DaMurph

He plays kinda dumb, like when he got kicked out of that bowl game. Not Alonzo Spellman dumb but I would like to see his Wunderlich score

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I didn’t want bosa so whatevs.

    • Shady

I would have been fucking thrilled.

      • willbest

Sure at 11 but at 3 is he your guy?

      • SC Dave

MB would have hated it. Racist

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse
    • Shady

      hahahaha that can’t be true.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

Dallas taking forever. must be trying to convince Jerry that Manzel is not in this draft

    • SC Dave

      Trying to deal?

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    Yes….

  • SC Dave

    Zeke gone

    • MB30SD

      Thank god

  • willbest

    Such a Jerry pick

    • SC Dave

If he becomes the next AP, it’s easily worth it

      • willbest

        If and only if

        • SC Dave

          Yeah… it’s a TALL order

  • wow. Recreating the triplets

  • MB30SD

    Yes!!! Off the board!

  • Shady

Zeke is going to be so good behind that line.

    • MB30SD

      My cowboys buddy is pumped

  • Trac

I don’t have tv. Play by play please.

    • MB30SD

      Goff, wentz, elliot

      • willbest

        Bosa

        • MB30SD

Sorry ,bosa… total red herring to the chargers

    • DaMurph

There you are!!!! I knew we could conjure you up. Do we need to have a fundraiser to get you a TV.

      • Trac

Haha. I detest the thing actually.

        • DaMurph

Till draft day and NFL Sunday

      • SC Dave

        Chuckling there. .. thank murph!

    • SC Dave

      Goff Wentz Bosa Elliott

    • Big Mike

      Why not?

      • Trac

        I crawl Za webz.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    Still Buckner alive

    • MB30SD

I’d rather have Ramsey than buckner fall to us

      • willbest

He is well on his way to being there to trade up for at 8

        • MB30SD

          I’d be down… get it?

        • SC Dave

          No… if anything trade down.

      • SC Dave

        Doubt either

      • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

Ramsey would be a pipe dream

  • willbest

Jack is def on the way to the bottom of the first

    • I think so. Undersized, questionable position, inj AND microfracture surgery down the line?

Might be too much for the 1st

  • Big Mike

    Poor Irish

  • So the Boys could’ve just kept Demarco Murray and drafted Ramsey, right?

    • willbest

Don’t think they had the cap

  • MB30SD

    Damn it

    • Big Mike

      Why?

      • willbest

        He wanted the jags pick

      • MB30SD

Wanted Ramsey to fall to us

        • Big Mike

Oh. Yeah that was never going to happen. He was a top 5 lock

  • SC Dave

Five seasons in a row selecting top five for Jax… wow

    • Big Mike

      I don’t understand?

      • Ribeyes for Operators

        Jax

        Dave’s been drinking. Draft tradition.

      • SC Dave

In the top five in draft order, five years in a row

  • Ribeyes for Operators

NFL teams are desperate for a franchise QB – no shock but Goff is not Luck.

    • SC Dave

It would be so cool were Jay to become one

  • wow. Jags are gonna be fierce on D, esp in that weak ass div.

  • willbest

    Wonder when the tackles go

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      Tunsil is next

  • Shady

Have to think BAL selects Tunsil here.

    • Ribeyes for Operators

Whatever you say Shady. Today is your day.

    • SC Dave

      SF, you mean?

      • Ribeyes for Operators

        Ravens pick next

  • Doc Nitty

Kind of sad to see the next Walter Payton become the next Emmitt Smith.

    • That’s alght, we have the next gale sayers!

    • MB30SD

      Stop that shit.

How dare you compare the two!!

      • SC Dave

What the fucking are you talking about? Emmitt handled the ball over FIVE FUCKING THOUSAND times.

        He earned it, dude.

        • MB30SD

Hahaha… I was saying how dare you compare this kid “who hasn’t played a single down in the fucking nfl” (~ scdave), to walter

          • Doc Nitty

And my comment was my attempt at showing how ludicrous the draft is in the minds of the fans. The truth is, I’m enamored with the kid, but I’ve seen so many can’t miss prospects go the way of Kijana Carter that I find it kind of hilarious how crazy we all get about it all.

          • MB30SD

I know. I was enjoying yanking both your chains. Love you maings

  • Captain Obvious

Ramsey to JAX. Guess they got scared off of Jack.

    • SC Dave

Jack may not make round 1. I sure as fuck don’t want him after Kevin white

      • Captain Obvious

Yeah, but 10 days ago no one thought he’d slip past JAX.

  • Doc Nitty

The number 1 reason to watch ESPN over NFL network or others. Suzy Kohlberg. Yowsa!

    • Shady

      OK Broadway Joe.

  • Well, ONE of my bold predictions came true!

  • willbest

    Stanley over tunsil?

    • Big Mike

I was on record saying if Stanley was there at 11he would be a steal.

      • SC Dave

        He isn’t

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    Woow it’s the first surprise

    • Doesn’t really surprise me (read my bold predictions below/above).

There was something going on with Tunsil. Interview, character, lack of fire…

      • Ribeyes for Operators

Hadn’t heard that. Shock to me.

      • Big Mike

Also Stanley is a helluva ball player. I said if he was available at 11 he would be a steal

        • Ribeyes for Operators

I think the fact he played both RT and LT at ND helped

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    And…. Buckner is still alive

  • Doc Nitty

    Suzy Kohlberg just said Sexton.

    • SC Dave

She said ‘sexing’, and she meant with me

      • Doc Nitty

Hey back the fuck off man!

She said sexton. As in she wants sex. A ton. With me.

        • SC Dave

Fine, but I go first. And second, and third, and..

          • SC Dave

… until she begs for mercy. I wear em out, you know

    • DaMurph

Suzy is hot, Joe thought so too.

  • lol Tunsil put a pic of him hitting a bong in a gas mask on twitter!

My stoner friends used to have a gasmask like that too.

    They nicknamed it “Mufasa”

  • Shady

Wow, so Posse’s story was true. Somebody just killed Tunsil on Twitter with what Laremy’s agent says to be an old pic of Tunsil wearing a gas mask bong.

I actually feel terrible for this kid. Between his dips hit step dad and this Twitter attack, that’s fucking rough. I hope this kid drops to Chicago and they give him a shot cause this is going to create a big chip on his shoulder.

    • MB30SD

Exactly. Fuck yes I’ll take him!

      • SC Dave

More for this than anything. Suppose the perp is a jilted agent?

  • willbest

Biggs called tunsil free fall, why are these people allowed to use these words with no evidence

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    Shit

  • Shady

    Sorry Ghost.

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    But Tunsil is still aviable

  • Big Mike

    Buckner gone

  • Get used to it, Bear fans.

9ers stealing all our D draftees

    • Ribeyes for Operators

Fuck Jed Dork and fuck Chip Kelly.

    • SC Dave

Get used to ALL teams stealing our choices as we pick #32 for 15 years in a fucking row!

  • willbest

    Titans moved up to 8

  • Do we now take Tunsil if he’s available?
WTH is going on with him?
Where’s Costner when u need him?

    • Ribeyes for Operators

      Sonny Weaver Junior!

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

He was in the room with patio jumper. Those 7 js didn’t roll themselves

    • Big Mike

      Yes

  • Ribeyes for Operators

Who did the Titans trade up for?

    • Prob Tunsil.
      Or Floyd?

    • Captain Obvious

      Tunsil is my bet

    • Big Mike

      Tunsil is my bet

      • Ribeyes for Operators

        makes sense to protect Mariota

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

We called it, if they traded back and still got him, they win the draft.

          • Doc Nitty

            Hands down

  • I figured there’d be a trade in the top 10, but this will be interesting.

  • NOOOOOOO

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    Tunsil 11?

    • Big Mike

      Yes

      • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

        Xmas gift

  • willbest

    Wow

  • Ribeyes for Operators

Main stories so far: Chargers with Bosa. Tunsil undermined by his family.

  • MB30SD

If tunsil is there at 11 there is NO way we pass on that right?

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      Can bet it.

    • Captain Obvious

Good grief I hope so. That would be a fucking steal of steals.

    • DaMurph

      I wouldn’t pass him up

    • SC Dave

      But is he black enough?

      • MB30SD

        Yes

        • SC Dave

          And bong enough too

  • willbest

    dont have social media

  • SC Dave

MB mus to be racially horrified!!! ANOTHER WHITEY!!!!

  • willbest

    Bears

  • Shady

    TRADE? TUNSIL?

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      Tunsil

  • Doc Nitty

    We’re now on da clock!!!

  • oh shit, Bears trade up

    • Ribeyes for Operators

      oh oh oh

      • Big Mike

Love it means there is someone they are passionate about. It probably cost the extra third pick

  • Big Mike

    Bears trade up !!!!!!!

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      No shit,!!

  • Shady

Holy shit they moved up… WOW. Waffles was right. How much did they give up?

    • willbest

      Not a lot prob a 4th

      • Big Mike

        You called it

        • willbest

Was it ours or new englands

    • burntorangenavyblue

      *biting nails….

      • Big Mike

        It’s goingti be gloyd

  • Doc Nitty

Could be Jack. Poxy likes the redshirt.

    • SC Dave

      Please no

    • Ribeyes for Operators

      Miles Jack??

  • Ribeyes for Operators
  • Ribeyes for Operators

    I’ll say it is Hargreaves
maybe they traded for Tunsil? they are jumping the Giants

  • Big Mike

    Floyd!!!!

    • Shady

      Damn it Mike.

    • SC Dave

      Yeah

  • willbest

Okay don’t know if we needed to trade up for him, but maybe they weren’t expecting others? It says they think there is a gap between him and the rest of their board

    • Big Mike

      Floyd

      • willbest

I know but the trade up says a lot

  • Ribeyes for Operators

Ryan Pace can’t pull the trigger on Laremy Tunsil can he? Pick could go up in smoke. – Biggsy Twitter

    • Big Mike

      Floyd !!!!

  • SC Dave

    There you go Mike!

    • Big Mike

      Very nice

    • SC Dave

And he gets to be a BEAR!!

And he’s black enough for MB

  • DaMurph

    WTF!!!! Are you kddin me?

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

Shiitt the second coming of chicken dinner

    • Big Mike

  • Irish Sweetness

    We got the freak !!!

    A 6’6 Safety !!!

    (ducks)

    • SC Dave

      Holy role (BU) reversal, Batman!

  • MB30SD

    Are you… fucking…. kidding me?!?!?!

    Fuuuuuck man

    • Ribeyes for Operators

BOTTOM LINE Floyd is painfully thin and will struggle to matchup with the strength of NFL players, but he is rangy in space, plays with a good motor and has traits as a pass rusher that would be a mistake to ignore. Floyd’s ability to cover close to five yards in three strides is rare for edge rushers. Add to that his inside counter and ability to play in space and you have a prospect who will be heavily scrutinized. Floyd’s lack of functionality could limit him to sub-packages unless he proves he can add more beef to his frame.

      • MB30SD

        Fuck man. Wtf?!?!

You HAVE to pick tunsil there. HAVE TO!!

        • Scharfinator

That dumbass can’t stay off his instagram long enough to take the joint out of his gas mask. Fuck that shit.

Lot’s of college age guys are dumb. Not many are THAT dumb.

          • MB30SD

Not many are close to being that dominant either, I don’t give a fuck about weed. Elliot used molly erra weekend supposedly

          • Scharfinator

I don’t care about weed either. I care about him being dumb enough to put it on instagram.

          • MB30SD

Schaaaarf… did I just see you type that you don’t like your non-skilled football players dumb?

            : /

          • Scharfinator

Are you frowning because I’m refusing to acknowledge that most of them are in fact dumb? Because you got me there.

I’m also backpedaling on his situation as well as I’ve learned more about it. Someone has been trying to sell that video for weeks, apparently.

      • Irish Sweetness

Unique combination of length and athleticism. Extremely rangy with great chase speed from sideline to sideline. Good change of direction for taller player. Long limbs and twitch to spring into a tackle from a mile away. If unblocked, will chase down line of scrimmage from backside and foil run plans. Elusive in open space dodging blockers and sifting through traffic in pursuit of the ball. Has the traits to be highly effective in man coverage. As an edge rusher, able to shoot out of the starting blocks and cover substantial ground with long second and third strides. Not a great bender, but has ankle flexion necessary to lean at 45-degree angle and buzz inside the rush arc. Substantial pass rush potential with a variety of options to the quarterback. Pet move is upfield burst followed by jump-cut inside tied with inside club. Able to dip and rip around the corner. Dangerous on T/E twists and blitzes underneath. Able to worm his way through the A-gap as standup blitzer.

    • DaMurph

Here we fucking go again….MB Im so disappointed!! We pass on Tunsil?

      • MB30SD

Exactly. We moved up for him?!?!

        • Ribeyes for Operators

I agree. They must have been certain the Giants would have taken Floyd.

          • Big Mike

            I agree

          • DaMurph

So then we get stuck with Tunsil? WTF

          • If the Gmen pass on Tunsil, something’s really going on there
We had an extra 4rth from the Bennett trade anyways, but Floyd?!~

        • DaMurph

Gave up a 4 and he woulda been there at 11!

          • Big Mike

            Has to be a reason

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      It smells shit

    • SC Dave

Oh for fucks sake!! Where is all that trust you had when we dumped our best player because he was ‘ too old’???

      • MB30SD

He is too old, get over it. The cryin’s gettin unbearable (see what I did there)

  • Captain Obvious

    What. The. Fuck.

    Floyd?

    FLOYD?

He didn’t jump out like you had to leapfrog NYG for Floyd. Shit. Color me disappointed.

    • Irish Sweetness

He jumped out at the professionals so much they traded up for him.

  • willbest

We sure he is all black? There is a one drop rule on white blood around here.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Calling it a bust, maybe

    • burntorangenavyblue

He is small for his position, better not be an experimental project…..

ESPN sure didn’t hesitate how crappy he is, lol

  • Ribeyes for Operators

Fuck we passed Hargreaves for him.

  • willbest

Didn’t wsj say 24 year olds were bad juju?

    • Big Mike

      Long was older as well

  • Captain Obvious

For all the talk about Pace liking guys with long arms, Floyd’s are only 33″

I have longer arms than that, and I’m 6’1″

    • Irish Sweetness

But he’s a 6’6 LB, that changes things considerably. He’s in your face thru the A gaps. He drops back and he’s covered whoever he’s near. He gets within grasping range of a QB …. I love it.

      • Doc Nitty

Yes but can he jump out of a pool?

        • burntorangenavyblue

          Will he blend?

  • Jebus. We had to trade up for Floyd?
    Wow.
Of all the ones mocked in the top 10, Floyd is the scariest for both reasons.

I also think he’ll strictly be a subpackage rusher.

    This is a huge gamble.

    • Ribeyes for Operators

      It’s a dumb one.

Tunsil would have beat out Leno. Hargreaves was there.

Floyd will be 24 at camp. Bad Pro Day. Was at 244 at the combine, he’s now 230. Can’t hold weight.

If he records 2 sacks this year, it would be a shock.

      • Big Mike

        Nah

    • willbest

I don’t mind Floyd, trading up for him… Seems like there were other equally valid option

      • burntorangenavyblue

Then wouldn’t you just stay put?

  • Bender McLugh

Jesus guys, ease up on the doom & gloom

    • SC Dave

These are all the guys that screamed ‘ trust Pox’ when they didn’t try to sign the best player on the fucking roster

      • willbest

        Cutler is under contract

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

          Hahahahahahahahaha

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

and they didn’t even cut that fucking Kicker.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Stupid. I’m so fucking pissed right now I’m barel coherent. Now some of you might say, what’s new… But I’m so pissed.

    • DaMurph

Its almost as bad as the Shea pick feeling

  • Captain Obvious

If Tunsil turns out to be a Pro Bowler, let’s burn Emery in effigy.

    • willbest

      Emery?

      • Captain Obvious

        Yeah, because fuck him.

  • Shady

    I got nothing.

  • Trac

    I love this pick!!!

    • DaMurph

      You loved Jack!

      • Trac

What position does this kid play? Hee hee

  • Ribeyes for Operators

How can you argue Floyd would not be there at 11?

  • Doc Nitty

arent you glad you debated this pick for three months?

    Bahahahaha.

Who the fuck knows what’s going to happen.

    • Big Mike

      That is hilarious

    • SC Dave

      Bing fucking go!

  • Apple to the Big Apple, over Hargreaves – size does matter.

    • Ribeyes for Operators

      Apple over Wj3?

      • Irish Sweetness

WJ3 looked unimpressive to say the least.

  • Ribeyes for Operators

Maybe we can put number 99 on him.

    They think he’s Aldon Smith

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Then they are fucking brain damaged.

    • Bender McLugh

      Speed kills

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      Hope not. He’s a douche.

  • Captain Obvious

The Giants took Eli Apple. Guess his new middle name will be “Big”

Has any team ever had two guys named Eli?

    • Irish Sweetness

Ezekiel Elliott is the second player in NFL history to be called Ezekiel.

  • Doc Nitty

Don’t we already have McPhee, Houston, Young? Where’s the need here?

    • willbest

Houston and young are probably gone in 2017

    • Irish Sweetness

Watch his tape dude. All kinds of strateegery is possible, and he”l be like Doctor Octopus in pass pro. Pumped!

      • Bender McLugh

        Agree

  • Irish Sweetness

Wow NY football Giants. Eli Apple?? Wow. I thought we moved up for either Floyd or Hargreaves. Wow.

    • burntorangenavyblue

There’s a scouting report that says he “can’t cook”. No joke, look it up. There’s a debate about it, lol

  • Ribeyes for Operators

I want to see who the Bucs take at 11

    • SC Dave

      Bong meister?

    • Cormonster

      They took Sideshow Bob.

  • Bender McLugh

    I still want Darron Lee

    • SC Dave

      Round 2

      • Bender McLugh

        Not sure he makes it

        • MikeBrownhadaPosse

          No way

  • Tunsil looks like he’s gonna cry.
Maybe a nice bong hit will cheer him up.

    • Doc Nitty

      Works for me.

      • burntorangenavyblue

Makes sense now, but still trading up during rebuilding? Bah

        • Doc Nitty

No…the bong hit works for me….you know….for the chearing up.

        • SC Dave

          THIS THiS THIS

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

I knew it. Snoke there’s fire… And lots of weed…. Ha-ha, star wars. Ugh, Floyd makes me feel queasy

  • Ribeyes for Operators

He can drop way out in coverage.

There is a lot of film showing Acho getting thrown over. Side outs, TE, etc. Acho was a liability in space. But I’m not sure this kid is the answer. Young will still come in on long downs.

    • DaMurph

      Vanderbilt, meh!

  • EnderWiggin

    Thread.

  • lol Chucy, “Hargreaves doesn’t have size or speed, but…”

    Perfect cover 2 corner.

  • Trac

Surely the devil is chained up in some cave under the city of Chicago. It’s all starting to make sense now.

  • DaMurph

    Im out

  • Ososfan

Thank god my pain meds knocked me out so I wouldn’t have to witness live the craziness that is pace trading up to get a guy who likely would have fallen to 11. Fuck you 49ers! Fuck you chip Kelly. Fuck. Whatever man, we will have to trust Fox and Vic Fangio will make it happen with Floyd…… Good night.
