      • SC Dave

You and the Scotch. Someday, you need to invite me over. I’ll figure out some suitable beer.

    • BuddhaJoe

Love me some Italian beef, it’s been too long. But my fiance just made wet burritos so I’ll be OK.

  • SC Dave

    Fuck yeah!

    • MB30SD

      you need an avatar dave

      • SC Dave

        Remember my last one?

When Jay hoists the Halas in January, i will have my avatar.

        Hopefully this year

  • SC Dave

Lol… Canada posts ‘new thread’ on the old before posting here first.

Them Canadians are too fucking polite

    • CanadaBear

You know how much being first means to me.

      • AlbertInTucson

Because “New Thread” is a more important post.

        Thank you.

  • Shady

ESPN wasting no time getting into their 2012 talking points bashing Jay Cutler about leadership, toughness and body language. Kidding me? Fuck your trite, lazy ass commentary you booya bitches.

    • AlbertInTucson

      “Trite, lazy ass commentary”

      Isn’t that their Mission Statement?

      • MB30SD

…and the name of my new garage metal band

        • SC Dave

I’m about ready to dub thee “double dillo” in honor of your 18 bands.

    • SC Dave

Cunts. That was years ago, and they are that far behind.

  • BearDown100393

    15-1

    • SC Dave

      1-1 first

  • willbest

Tonights inactives: DBs: Fuller, LeBlanc, Bush; LB Kwiatkoski; OL: Kush; WR: Meredith; DL: CornWash

So help me if White looks like a gimp again.

    • SC Dave

      Well, let’s hope he’s not.

  • AlbertInTucson

    “DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Love that I love watching football in Bears. Haven’t watched pregame show in a decade.”

    Yep, pretty much.

    • SC Dave

      In Bears what, Jefe?

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

        Bars?

        • AlbertInTucson

          Good guess.

  • BuddhaJoe

Anybody know of a good stream site? I’ve got a couple I use but the quality is iffy at best.

  • Cormonster

I’m getting ready to order a bacon double cheeseburger, mushrooms, and chicken nuggets. The kicker: 3 pieces of deep-fried bacon on the burger. Yummy.

  • beninnorcal

This pregame brutal. Between the Cutler bashing quota and all the dumb cliches. ‘You got Mossed!’ …what?

  • beninnorcal

Charles Woodson was laying into Cutler.

    • WP4Life

I muted tv when I saw woodson. Moss was cool.

  • madscout12

    NERRRDDSSSS!!!!

Look at him, fellas. If we don’t cream this Fing nerd, I’m going to kick a baby.

    • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

I feel bad about how dead he is.

      • madscout12

        I don’t.

        NERRRRDDDD!!!

        • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

He’s dead and he doesn’t even know it. Fargo hillbilly gon git keeld.

          • madscout12

AND FUCK YOU, DILFER. YOUR DUMB ASS ONLY HAS A RING BECAUSE A MURDERER. AND THEY TRADED YOU THE NEXT YEAR. AFTER YOU WON A SUPERBOWL!

  • willbest

I originally got it one year for the sole purpose of making duck fat fries for thanksgiving, and I still do those over the holiday season. But it turns out its good in a pinch when you want to put basically zero effort into meal prep. We don’t use it all that often primary it wastes a lot of oil (and we don’t use the cheap oils). Obviously you can reuse the oil for about a week, but we generally don’t like to eat that much fried food. I had set it up over the weekend though for other reasons and so we might as well use it.

    • Irish Sweetness

Are you apologising for eating fried food dude?

  • BerwynBomber

Da Coach needs a shave and to button up his shirt. He looked like a homeless dude.

    • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

That HD neck hair and liver spots were killing me.

      • Jack Lacan

Most men in Oak Brook look like Ditka.

  • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

Real talk: is Steve young mentally retarded?

    • BerwynBomber

He’s generally pretty good but the “Jay Cutler leadership” stuff deserves a big eyeroll.

But let’s face it, unless you’re winning, anything that does not look like Brady or Peyton is seen as a lack of leadership.

    • madscout12

He ran the ball alot. And he got hit alot. So, yes.

      • SC Dave

        20 concussions will do that

    • Irish Sweetness

      Isn’t he a lawyer?

  • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

McPhee getting the boys pumped up.

  • BerwynBomber

What a bunch of morons with their Iggles picks. I’ll forgive Woodson for rivalry/emotional purposes but I assume the rest of these folks were being logical???

    • Irish Sweetness

Dude, I’m surprised anyone here picked the Bears. Based on what exactly?

  • Jack Lacan

Put away the Chobani tonight baby…We’re winning this one for sure.

  • SC Dave

Its about gametime, bitches. Time to get it on

  • Jack Lacan

If we do not win – I suggest shutting down Michigan Avenue – Bear Lives Matter…

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    First home game….

  • madscout12

They’re gathered at Franks Bar in Downtown Fargo to see their hometown hero die.

    Dead. Fing Dead.

  • SC Dave

    You know what I miss??

Young Devin. Gawd that shit was the bomb.

    • madscout12

How did we have a coach that couldn’t teach that fucker 2 routes and stick him at #4 WR?

  • Jack Lacan

Sean Mc Donough should take some Red Bull. Has he just gotten a divorce or what?
    What a dead head.

  • SC Dave

Turn off the sound. You will be happier

  • Jack Lacan

Jim Corneillson (sp) will knock you down with the sound.
Not sure National Anthem should be required before professional sporting events.
    Interesting discussion.

  • madscout12

Keep the tempo, dude. Weak sauce.

  • madscout12

    No Meredith or CornWash tonight.

  • SC Dave

    Nice start

  • SC Dave

    I miss Matt Forte

    • Irish Sweetness

We still have him, his name is Jeremy! And he’s really our #2.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

    BirdCaged

    • Jack Lacan

    Get him, Fangio

    • Irish Sweetness

That’s hilarious. Fangio doesn’t GET anybody.

  • Jack Lacan

    Thanks SC.

    • SC Dave

I take it the sound is off now?

  • willbest

So Wentz is prepared, I gather

  • SC Dave

    Go crowd!!!

  • SC Dave

    STOP THIS SHIT

  • SC Dave

    Nope

    • Jack Lacan

Stay on it SC…Many trolls and haters…

  • madscout12

    Like it was fucking madden.

  • SC Dave

    Nice Brice!

  • SC Dave

At least we’re hitting them a little

    • willbest

No pressure, that is all we can do

      • SC Dave

It appears, again, that the coaching is a big disadvantage.

Like all the last 50 fucking years

        • Jack Lacan

Only one part of THE PROBLEM SC.

          • SC Dave

            The worst of it. IMO

  • SC Dave

    Fucking takeaway would be good

  • willbest

    Coverage sack

    • SC Dave

      Indeed

    • Scharfinator

A sack is a sack! BUt yeah, would love to see some earned sacks

      • willbest

Well the DBs earned it, it just won’t go on their stat sheet, and Wentz made a rookie mistake in not chucking it out the back of the endzone

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    hell YESSSS!!!

  • SC Dave

Wel, at least we survived the initial onslaught only down 3-0

    • SC Dave

Oh wait, aren’t we supposed to say that ON THE FUCKING ROAD!?!???!!!

      • madscout12

Let’s hope we don’t get Birdcaged again here. Come on, Birdcage…dig deep.

      • willbest

        Calm yourself.

  • BuddhaJoe

Can they actually bring somebody down on the first contact? They let everybody bounce off the first tackler like pinballs.

  • SC Dave

So wtf Scharf?? Waiting for the wit, dude.

    Bring it! πŸ™‚

  • SC Dave

And what happened to Double Dillo, anyway?

  • SC Dave

I guess i need the commentary, since the TV is on MUTE!!! Score!

  • Jack Lacan

Got that Rolex from Oak Brook SC.?

  • Jack Lacan

    Eagles waiting for Langford.

  • SC Dave

    I expect nothing from Langford.

    I hope I’m dead wrong, but…

  • willbest

So maybe we will see Howard if we are already on Carey. Cutler should have run there for 6)7 yards. Pussy.

  • SC Dave

    Wtg Eddie

  • willbest

  • Jack Lacan

    Cutler on the Rodgers shovel.

  • Scharfinator

    Maybe a draw play sometime?

  • willbest

    Bad jay

  • SC Dave

    Lucky that DB cant catch

    • TBC

      Barth Don’t Lie?

      • madscout12

  • BuddhaJoe

Shit I have a bad feeling about this game already.

  • Scharfinator

    Barthhhhhhdddd

GO for it on 4th anywhere in field goal range now

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    can anyone get GouldΒ΄s number?

    • Huge Bears Penis

why so he can miss it too?

  • SC Dave

Goddamn weather killed the feed here

    • Johnnywad

Well Barth missed a 31 yarder

      • SC Dave

        HBP is no doubt pleased

        • Huge Bears Penis

          cut him!

      • AlbertInTucson

        Um, that’s “Barf”.

    • wreckinball

It’s better without sound or video

      • BillW

Turning off sound. Can’t get the radio broadcast on the Internet though

    • Jack Lacan

I thought you were in Hinsdale????
      Where the hell?
      Come home.

  • madscout12

    Do they run the ball?

  • Scharfinator

Gruden cannot get off of Wentz dick.

    • willbest

You might say Gruden came prepared to suck Wentzs cock.

      • SC Dave

At least HE had a gameplan

    • SC Dave

      Does that surprise?

  • Jack Lacan

    Fuck Wentz.

  • BillW

“Haven’t seen a corner blitz from fangio all year” said chucky.

It’s the first quarter of game 2!

    • willbest

Most the time I think I could do that job without knowing what football is.

  • BearDown100393

    No Floyd. No Langford.

    • SC Dave

      Langford is not the guy.

      • Jack Lacan

        Right now – yes.

    • willbest

      Langford was benchedfor carey

  • SC Dave

For the love of Pete, turn off the fucking sound, dudes!!!

  • AlbertInTucson

Welcome to Soldier Field, Conor Barf.

    SMH.

  • SC Dave

    TD time

  • SC Dave

    Royal…

  • Johnnywad

Fox is apparently done fucking around with Langford

    • SC Dave

Yeah, put Matt in… oh, wait

    • Irish Sweetness

We signed some RB to the PS.

  • SC Dave

    So underthrown… fuck

    But ill take it

    • Huge Bears Penis

hard to get a good throw with pressure in the face.

      • SC Dave

He rolled out beautifully to escape, then threw off hos back foot when he had time to hit Alshon wide open in the end zone

        • Huge Bears Penis

yeah , rolled out to his right throw off back foot to his left, and still threw it about 50 yrds.

  • willbest

Cutler needs to stop underthrowing Jeffery. He would have like 7 more career TDs

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    cΒ΄mon!!

  • BillW

Well, they cut Forte to see what they had in Langford. Maybe we already know the answer

    • SC Dave

      I suspected last year.

But he still could become somebody.

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

I agree. You were one of the few here who called it.

      • BillW

Well, he can get a yard with pro bowl guards and a real fullback.

        On our way!

      • SC Dave

I just hope it is not at the expense of Howard. Whi has a much netter chance of being the man than Langford to my unknowing eye

      • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

        he gets TDΒ΄s

        • SC Dave

          That whole drive was Alshon

          • madscout12

            Pay that man!

    • Irish Sweetness

No, they cut Forte because of his 8M a year and knees.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Yes, the answer is Howard.

  • Johnnywad

    Hey. A fullback.

    • Johnnywad

      Sans Birdcage

    • willbest

      Unrein is better

      • Johnnywad

Who cares? It’s in the endzone

        • SC Dave

We need Unrein on the D

          • Irish Sweetness

            Why, what does he do?

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

    YEEAHHH!!!

  • Jack Lacan

    Alright.

  • BuddhaJoe

    Keep Lasike in.

  • madscout12

Now he can get a yard.

  • Jack Lacan

    We’re leading!

    • SC Dave

      Wooo hoooo!!!

  • SC Dave

    Alshon, Royal, Howard.

    Make it so

  • willbest

They benched white in all of that too

    • Scharfinator

Yup. Motherfucker must be too stupid to learn the playbook. SHIEEET

  • WP4Life

    Let’s see a SACK

    • SC Dave

We tried, but the rook hung in

  • SC Dave

Time for some fun on D

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

hope Watch all young guys thriving.

  • Jack Lacan

    Gruden eats shit.

    • SC Dave

You just wont listen. Turn off the sound

  • SC Dave

Was that a fucking roughing call!?!?

    • SC Dave

      No… groovy

  • Scharfinator

Hahhah Gruden somehow turns a holding penalty into praise about Wentz taking hits.

    • SC Dave

He did stand in, get pasted, and conplete a pass good enough for the first down w/o the penalty…

Wentz did not hold, or likely know it was happening.

      • Scharfinator

        All I hear is slurping!

      • SC Dave

Though Gruden dles like to fellate whatever QB we face

  • willbest

Oh hey, a team with a punter I don’t envy.

  • BuddhaJoe

Damn where was this D last week? Keep the pressure up.

    • willbest

It was there last week, as inconsistent as it has been tonight.

  • Johnnywad

That QB hit by Freeman is the goods. Haven’t seen LB play like that in quite some time.

    • Huge Bears Penis

did we have LBs the last couple years?

    • madscout12

      A bears linebacker.

  • Huge Bears Penis

    Massie should be cut too.

  • SC Dave

Jay does seem a bit more aware in the pocket than a couple of years back. Where that would have been a loss of 5 or 6 rather than 1

  • SC Dave

    Weak throw by Jay there

  • willbest

    The fuck

  • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

fuck Massie, hold it at leats 3 seg..

  • SC Dave

That is the shit right there that seperates true winners from Jay. Winners make easy throws all the time.

    • Huge Bears Penis

      no they don’t.

      • SC Dave

        Okay, 19 of 20, rather than 16

  • BearDown100393

“limited route tree” Well yeah but why kick a dog after finding its bone?

  • Scharfinator

What a flop. No one in backfield to make the iggles even QUESTION what were doing?

  • Hank

I wish we felt comfortable getting 2 yards on 4th down.

  • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

3rd and 2 and we don’t use the fullback or split back and take 2 plays to get the first down?
Fucking birdcaged. They’re pressing our guys. An 8th grade coach would have gotten that first.

    • SC Dave

Bullshit. That was a bad pass that should have been a trivially easy first down.

I mean really?!!? That was a bad pass to a giy wide open for the first down

      • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

Bullshit? It was 3rd and 1.5

        • Huge Bears Penis

          hmmm… run the ball maybe.

          • SC Dave

Wentz just threw it straight… oh wait… again

          • Double BBC WR DP on GP FTW

Wentz threw a fucking comeback. We ran a slip route and had to throw it 20ydd to get less than 2
            It doesn’t make sense.

  • wreckinball

Holy crap the Wentz shit is out of hand

  • BearDown100393

Carson Wentz is the greatest athlete of all time. May he never play another game. Perfection in professional sports has been achieved. Enshrine in Canton immediately.

    • Jack Lacan

      Dear God yes.

    • SC Dave

      Turn off the sound
      I keep saying it

      • Jack Lacan

Ok … Ok… off it is..

Incomplete pass against rookie starter is on par with sacking the backup QB right?

      • madscout12

        Go lose to the Vikings.

  • BuddhaJoe

I’m surprised Gruden can call the game with Wentz’s dick so deep in his throat.

    • BearDown100393

      “Gruden College”

  • Jack Lacan

Gruden must be getting paid by Wentz agent.
The SOUND is now officially off.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

I would never name a son Carson.

    • Jack Lacan

      How about Johnny?

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

        Exactly.

    • BearDown100393

      Jay?

      • Sauron’s right eyeball

“Great win” – Gruden (Vikings defeating a bunch of scrubs)

  • BuddhaJoe

WTF is this, the Lovie tribute defense?

  • willbest

I don’t know why they do that. Was there a study done in 1937 that this icing works?

  • AlbertInTucson

    You know he’ll kick it,now.

  • Jack Lacan

    Icing is bullshit.

  • Cubsnlinux

I don’t see any improvement in the DaBears..same shitty offense and putrid defense

    • Jack Lacan

Sure — but they’re our Bears and we must suffer together.

      • Cubsnlinux

Lipstick on a pig. Not impressed with either Pace or Fox.

Iced a miss into a make. Bears, at home, losing to Eagles at half time. lol. Just dont get it man.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

Quote of the game: “That looked like the Chicago Bears…..of a few years ago”. It’s really sad when you think about it boys.

  • Jack Lacan

Thanks to SC Dave for a great first half of Bears.
    Nothing is over…

  • WP4Life

    Wtf.
    Fox timeout then 3.
14 can’t take knee for touchback.
Compared to eagles ol ours is very porous.
Eagles not afraid to go for it on 4 and 2.
We don’t even try to draw dl for encroachment

    Cutty is 10 for 13.

Holy shit, where is the running game. Holy shit, where is the pass rush.

    • willbest

The o line is a pile of garbage, cutty is on 15 yard drop backs and dodging 1-2 defenders each play.

  • BuddhaJoe

Getting pretty sick of Cutler running for his life for half a decade while the opposing QB always gets more time than he needs, no matter who they play.

      • AlbertInTucson

I just don’t know how it’s Loggains fault that the offensive line is getting whipped on virtually every snap.

I don’t care WHAT he calls, you have to get it blocked.

        • BillW

Right. But has he called any rollouts? Is that even in the playbook?

To take it even further, Cutler has proven that he needs not both of those things, but only 1 of them to win. Yet this team has still wasted most of his years having neither…(To be fair the defense looked good tonight and they pulled him with injury after he threw a pick which could go either way in the argument).

That INT had NOTHING to do with Cutler’s hand. That ball never should have been thrown.

    • A7Xthebest

To be completely fair, if you watch the replay(Which I am doing right now), the receiver was crossing the opposite way as the lb and had the backer not been there he still wouldn’t have come close to hitting the receiver. IMO the throw was inexcusable but still probably somewhat the result of the injury.

  • Johnnywad

For two straight weeks, it seems as though the defense knows exactly what the Bears are about to run. Is Loggains that predictable already?

    • BillW

      Great point

    • Captain Obvious

Yes, because two guys with concussions CLEARLY got injured because of team training.

  • Johnnywad

That was Tommie Harris all over again.

  • BillW

I have no idea what the reason could be, but 6 players out in one game is not just bad luck. They are not well coached, not well prepared, and now maybe not well xonditioned

    • SC Dave

See my comment on Alshon blowing off that idiocy

    • Captain Obvious

Are you the statistician? One data point does not indicate a trend.

2 of the 6 players out have concussions. That’s not something you can avoid with coaching or conditioning.

Cutler hurt his hand. What coaching or conditioning would prevent that?

A cluster of cancer does not necessitate something carcinogenic in the water. Randomness means there will be clusters.

      • BillW

Settle down. I said maybe. And obviously a game day thread when the bears are inept except for a couple drives is going to bring frustration

      • madscout12

Sure. Go back to the QB days before Cutler. I wish Rex Grossman was here. Or Kraig Krenzel. That’d be awesome.

        • Can u honestly say Cutler is better than Sex Cannon? He’s supposed to be, but he’s not

          • madscout12

Oh, he is. We win that fucking SB with college Cutty. Cutty can hold onto a fucking snap.

      • Jack Lacan

        Please…Look at the score…again…

        • Freddy G.P. Soft

          I have.

The GM is fucking Fangio. He’s making them play Floyd when he shouldn’t. Fangio’s scheme is simple, he’s playing almost no blitzes, it”s not working as it did in San Fran.

          • Irish Sweetness

Fangio is the fucking the Bears. It’s not working because he hasn’t got their players. This proves he’s an idiot.

      • BillW

So far that’s just speculation. They have to show it 4 quarters a game, not 4 plays a game

        • Freddy G.P. Soft

Freeman and Trevathan have showed what they can do in a good D.

          • BillW

It just simply doesn’t matter what they did for other teams. They play for this one now.

And as I type this, Freeman proves he has no quit.

        • chitownproud85

I do agree with this to an extent. I feel like a lot of people rush to give credit where it hasnt quite been earned yet. I’m not ready to call this D useless – we’ve seen them hold, and hold, and hold. There is NO offense to speak of to keep them off the field or to keep them in games. Eventually, exhaustion and inevitability breaks them in half and then boom…Its just such a shit show offensively. There only scores this season come from the most ridiculous backyard football bullshit ive ever seen. A 4th down fumble and a missed field goal later…this team is burning in fabulous fashion.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

Thayer is now asking who even pays attention in class.

  • chitownproud85

The real sheisty part is that Fox/Pace will likely get to press the reset button once by getting “their own” quarterback. Jettisoning Jay will buy them another two seasons to get it right. Feels like most GM/Coach combos get their own QBs(hell, most coaches do) and they can scapegoat Jay and live to fight another day(even if its clear hes only part of the problem, and not its origin or source). With no such QB possibility on the roster or available…Oh boy. This season will be “interested” for one reason or another…

    • BerwynBomber

So you want a fourth coaching staff to build around Jay?

Anyway, too early for that. And I think Fox is more on the clock than Cutler.

      • madscout12

Nope. Just don’t jettison him until you get someone better.

        • BerwynBomber

          They won’t.

          • A7Xthebest

I feel like Cutler and Fox still could do well together. Fox has won with much worse.

      • chitownproud85

…no. I dont want anything. I’m saying that Fox/Pace will likely get to strap a rocket to Jay and send him to the moon, buying themselves two additional seasons to try to reverse this mockery. Nobody is going to “build” anything around Jay. Jay is what he is, the same as he has always been.

    • Irish Sweetness

We have been beaten by Osweiler and Wentz. Cutty is not the problem right now. Put a wall in both trenches, that’s how you build houses, solid foundations.

I’LL BUILD IT FOR YOU GINNY!!!

  • AlbertInTucson

Eagles trying to run out the clock. So should the Bears.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

The Bears got their asses marked tonight. Wow, I feel sorry for Chicago fans that are really hurting over this.

  • BuddhaJoe

This is what pisses me off the most about the Bears. Lovie was an old school defensive minded coach who wanted to lean on the running game, and he didn’t seem to realize that the game has changed and it’s a passing league now. They canned him and brought in Emery/Trestman, who despite their suckitude tried to modernize the Bears game and it worked to a certain extent. Then, the Bears brass fired them and apparently learned nothing from the experience because they went back TO THE SAME BULLSHIT THAT DIDN’T WORK BEFORE, THAT’S WHY THEY FIRED LOVIE IN THE FIRST PLACE! So now we’re back to square one again.

    • madscout12

It wasn’t the style. It was the execution. Lovie fired the only competent OC he ever had.

      • Freddy G.P. Soft

Also, we lost Gase and got Bird Cage.

        • BillW

Birdcage done. But won’t get a permanent replacement until next season

      • BuddhaJoe

I think it was the style. Teams like last year’s Broncos or the Ravens very rarely win now, whereas a potent passing game is what gets most teams through in this era. Trestman/Emery sucked but at least they understood that. The Bears decided to go back in time and hope they struck gold.

        • madscout12

There were like 6 teams with multiple RB over 600 yards. All made the playoffs.
The Broncos could run the ball, and NC.
NE the year before, and Seattle.
          Seattle could run.
Both the Ravens and SF ran the ball.

Fuck, yeah. You can run the ball and play D. You just have to have a freaking team.

        • Irish Sweetness

NO. NO. NO. Defense wins Champs. Carolina got eaten alive by a defense in the last SB. There was no offense on show.

    • Irish Sweetness

It was never a ‘passing league’ in my opinion. That was just a trendy soundbite. Defense wins championships. Every super bowl stands as testament. You have to be able to run the ball and play defense. The idea that it’s a passing league .. without the other two …

Ted Philips keeps overseeing the hiring of these guys with no philosophy.

  • Huge Bears Penis

I have a lot going on in my life to look forward to other than football. To the working man who has a heavy bucket to carry, this team is not doing what it’s supposed to do for Chicago. I’m pretty disgusted at what is becoming a longtime joke of a football team. My God, was Lovie really as good as it gets?

    • Freddy G.P. Soft

Chicago is a Cubs town now. Cubs and Hawks.

      • Johnnywad

I have to learn to like baseball.

    • Irish Sweetness

I like it as a Bears fan. The pressure is always off by week two.

  • AlbertInTucson

I live in Arizona. I COULD go Cardinals …?

    • AlbertInTucson

      But I won’t.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

I firmly believe re-watching this horrorshow will show the weakness of Birdcage. His calls were AWFUL. They would have a play that worked, and then go back to something the Eagles schemed. Jay had weak throws, I want to know when he broke the bone in his hand, because I think that is it.

  • Frummerly

If you run a for-profit business then there are two factors required for success … passion and intelligence among executive leadership and accountability among the rest of the organization. We generally hire people who look the part only. Trestman being the outlier.

Bears got lucky with Ditka and somehow got him to keep Buddy. Then hired his replacement cause he came from Dallas and had a mustache. And going on 25 years we clearly haven’t gotten much smarter on how to build a team. This is a McCaskey issue.

    • Irish Sweetness

I honestly believe I could do a better job than any GM we’ve had in 20 years and I’m being serious. I’ll bet there are a lot of fans on here who feel the same way.

  • Captain Obvious

Barth is almost as good at onside kicks as Gould

  • BearDown100393

    Meaningless huh?

  • AlbertInTucson

    Another national TV embarrassment.

I have lost count of how many of these humiliations I have sat through.

    • SC Dave

This team is abject dogshit. And two of the best three players on the team are gone – one they didn’t bother to offer a fucking contract, and the other they cut.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

Assume coaches know Jay has a bad hand. They get Howard on track, Howard is gashing them for big runs and they go BACK TO THREE PASSES IN A ROW!

    Man. Birdcage.

    • SC Dave

They are idiots. But on the other hand, only Irish and I were saying to fucking start Howard. Langford is NOTHING – every time I think about letting Matt walk for that scrub pisses me off.

      IDIOTS.

  • Jack Lacan

Me as well…Guess I’ll have to double the Paxil.

    • Huge Bears Penis

Paxil? isn’t that for yeast infections?

      • Jack Lacan

        Good call…

  • AlbertInTucson

This makes you long for last week’s performance.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

Freeman has no quit. A way better #50 than Chicken Dinner.

  • Jack Lacan

I just saw a tackle — as Shakespeare would say a veritable tackle…

  • chitownproud85

Well, if you want a silver lining…the Cowboys enjoy a good bed shitting even more than the Bears…so…hope? Bears 30, Cowboys 6. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST

    • SC Dave

Nope, try it the other way around. Dallas 28, Chicago 6.

      • chitownproud85

Cmon my fellow Carolinian. The Cowboys love misery just as much as the Bears. They just do it in more heartbreaking, but far less pathetic fashion. Its two different sides of the same coin. It always ends the same way – prematurely, and with a lot of tears.

        • SC Dave

Cowboys are 5-3 in the Super Bowl. Bears are 1-1. Kind of says it all.

That being said, is that 1985 matchup out there yet?

        • Irish Sweetness

They have a QB, a RB, a kicker … and that will be enough to beat us.

    • Irish Sweetness

Dreaming, but I like it. Dak Prescott will tear us a new one, and there is literally NOTHING we can do to stop it.

  • SC Dave

    Can we rehire Trestman, please?

  • AlbertInTucson

Oh, we’re finished here in Chicago, Sean.

  • madscout12

Hey look, a favorable spot. I wonder which team has the ball?

  • Jack Lacan

Nice fucking spot on that last play…

    • AlbertInTucson

      He made the first down.

    • madscout12

Remember when we were in this game, and there were not one, but 2 shitty spots bringing up 3rd and 1.

      Is it the Unis? WTF?

      • SC Dave

We were never in this game

  • chitownproud85

oooh oooh, and if this was a movie, this would be that “rock bottom” moment that would lead to the revelations and personal commitments that take us to the playoffs.

So evidently being a Bears fan has caused me to live in my own head so much that I’m writing screenplays to take away the pain. .It is what it is.

    • Freddy G.P. Soft

      like John Hughes scripts

    • Irish Sweetness

Sean Astin would play the undrafted kid who leads us tot he Superbowl off the back of miraculous game-ending plays. Paul Williams would play the diminutive HC, and their mutual respect of small men would be the key relationship in the movie.

  • willbest

Maybe I will get to soldier field since tickets will be going below face if this keeps up

    • Freddy G.P. Soft

That, or left before halftime. You know, like the team did.

      • Shady

He must never attend another game in his life again.

    • chitownproud85

Was thinking the same thing. Live in NC now and hitting the Bears game at Soldier is just so goddamned expensive top to bottom that I cant talk myself into it anymore. Now? Can probably trade a beer for some tickets.

  • SC Dave

I’m so close to being permanently done with this fucking shitshow of a franchise.

At least I have the Panthers to watch. You know, a real team.

    • Huge Bears Penis

      seeya!

      • SC Dave

          • Freddy G.P. Soft

I’d like to say we would miss you Dave, but I would seriously be lying.

    • Freddy G.P. Soft

I have been on this blog for SEVEN years, saying this club deserves better ownership.

The McCaskeys are stupid. They don’t even like football. Accorsi sold them a bill of goods on Pacebot. The guy looks like he belongs in Westworld, he’s shit for brains at running a club.

      • SC Dave

I know, and I’ve been here with you. So why do we put up with it? Feels like some form of co-dependency by now.

      • Irish Sweetness

It has got to be said, the McCaskeys are a bunch of fucking silver-spooner idiots. They are John Du Pont (without the visions or money).

  • madscout12

First, they have lineman downfield blocking on 4th and 1.
Then they do a jet sweep against all the bears backups.

    • Maybe finally admit it’s time for another fanbase to wait a decade for Cutler to turn into Wilson

      • Freddy G.P. Soft

The Score won’t even do a Bears post game tonight.

      • willbest

Guy has a busted hand and was running for his life for the first 25 minutes of the game, not a lot you can do with that.

        • SC Dave

          Always the excuses

          • willbest

Not really an excuse, only a top 5 QB is winning behind that line. Thats why you watch the game. its 11 on 11 and as important as the QB is, he isn’t winning it without at least 8-9 competent other players.

          • Irish Sweetness

Bradford might have, if he had Meredith instead of White. Dalton … Carr …. Palmer … Bortles …. Fitzy …. Eli …. Prescott ….. Mariota ….

          • willbest

You lose when your list includes 0-2 QBs

          • A7Xthebest

Yes but is there not validity to most if not all of them? Cutler has had issues before, but the guy has not exactly been enabled. How many legit OCs has he had? 2? Went to the NFC Champ game with no wrs and a bad O-line with Martz and had his best statistical year last year with Gase. No he’s not exactly “transcendent” but I’ve seen him do some great things and lead some awesome comebacks for this fucking team and town.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

      #birdcaged

    • SC Dave

It is humiliating to be a Bears fan.

      • willbest

That is why we keep Browns fans around.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Amateur Cutler diagnosis: Broken Wrist?

    • Soul.
But heard cargo pants looked prestine

    • BerwynBomber

      Sounds like a thumb injury.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Thumb.

  • beninnorcal

    RIP 2016 Bears.

  • beninnorcal

All I could think of before this game was that I wasn’t sure how we’d match up against the Eagles, but no way we’re as bad as the Brown’s.
We may actually be worse than the Browns.

    • SC Dave

      It’s possible

    • Irish Sweetness

we are. They have a backup QB that I was laughed at for saying we should keep … and sign Fitzy. But there you go.

  • willbest

I always considered Fox a caretaker HC, and he did an admirable job last year with what they had, but they looked awful in the pre-season and that spilled into the regular season where they have just embarrassed themselves, especially in the second half of each game.

  • willbest

Alright, I want to wake up tomorrow to Birdcage being fired. It won’t solve anything, but at least it will appear proactive.

  • CanadaBear

Earlier in PS I was trying not to go full negative and stuck with 8-8. That’s looking pretty iffy at this point. Do the coaches pass out Quaaludes before kickoff and again at halftime? Most of the team seems like they are sleep walking. Are the Bears a bunch of creampuffs, are they really unlucky on the injury front, or is the S&C program crap? Probably a bit of all 3. Gonna be a long year I’m afraid. FUCK!

  • CanadaBear

I hope Goldman is OK but it looked really bad.

    • willbest

high ankle sprain reported. 2-4 weeks usually.

      • PaceBot 2000

        not when you’re 330

        • willbest

Thats where its more 4 than 2

          • PaceBot 2000

if Goldman is on the field in 4 weeks or less i’ll buy you a bottle of your irish whiskey mixed with dirt flavor.

          • willbest

Don’t we have a week 7 bye? So I guess if he misses 4 games he get 5 weeks.

          • PaceBot 2000

            even still

  • Joecashflow

Man I think we all don’t know where this goes from here. Hope for first draft pick next year and a QB.

  • ButtonShoes

Anyone here still want to defend Cutler, Pace, Fox, and this trainwreck of a franchise? Because there’s been a lot of triumphalism about the Bears here without anything to back it up, and it’s about time we get realistic about what a bad team we have, and how the people running it are worse.

    • Irish Sweetness

That’s true. I though we would beat Houston. Everyone else in the world knew we would lose. I didn’t think we would beat the Eagles.

  • BerwynBomber

“DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog Kinda feel like the Cutler era just ended in Chicago.”

Hah! Feels like that every other year. Yet other than the brief pursuit of TEN’s Mariota pick we have never really attempted to move on from him. Even via a successor in the draft.

Anyway, topic for end of the season. If his thumb isn’t bad, he might be starting SUN night. We’ll see.

    • Joecashflow

I suspect they took him into the locker room to wack it real good, so it’s broke for the season.

      • BerwynBomber

Cutler is a ton better than Hoyer and he was a ton better than McCown. If he’s healthy, you play him.

But whether you build a team around him as we did with both Fox and Trestman is another matter entirely.

        • PaceBot 2000

it’s a complete rebuild. No one besides Jeffery was here was draftedbefore 2013 i think. That’s fucked up. Right now they just need to build in general. It’s better to build the supporting cast until the right QB comes along then you make it happen. We’re a good draft and FA period away from even approaching that conversation.

          • BerwynBomber

Nah, a complete rebuild would have been drafting a QB and tossing him in the lion’s den. Or at least drafting a qb and going with a bridge guy for a year.

This was kinda half-rebuild/half-win now, which I always though was a dubious strategy.

          • PaceBot 2000

you couldn’t put a rookie QB in with the teams over the last few years, you’d end up with David Carr.
We need depth and playmakers and some injury luck. You don’t draft a QB for the sake of doing it. You need a balanced team or like the Broncos, a video game D.

          • BerwynBomber

Hence, the affordable bridge guy for a year or two. That’s a complete rebuild.

          • PaceBot 2000

bridge guy loses the confidence of the guys already on the team as part of the rebuild. It only takes 2 years. This isn’t baseball. Let’s see how this all plays out, then the top 3 draft picks and key FA pickups this offseason and then we can talk. I don’t need Cardale Jones part 2 as my QB. You hold off until you get a consensus #1 badass then you throw the fucking farm at the team that has the pick.
Or better yet, if a top guy falls to you and some other team offers you a small farm you take said farm and draft badass kids with those picks.

          • Irish Sweetness

I never understood the fascination with drafting QBs. Did NY draft Fitzy? Did Cleveland draft either McCown or RGIII? Minny draft Bradford? Houston Osweiler? If you can pick up a QB for 5M and plug him in .. .why play with children?

  • PaceBot 2000

Jesus Christ pump the brakes here you huge bunch of pussies. (i mean that with love)

    I hear:
Cut the quarterback. Rodgers threw 2 picks and fumbled 4 times last night, what they fuck would you advocate for that game? Raping and killing his mom?
Cut the coach. In his 2nd year.
Cut the GM. In his 2nd year.
Kill Ginny. I may not have heard that but i wouldn’t put it past you bunch of slackjawed faggots.

I’m going to need a bunch of you to step back from the fucking ledge because NONE of you deserve blowjobs from your fat spouses and girlfriends for your behavior after this game.

It’s a rebuild. This was a step back and we just suffered insane injuries and this is what we’re fucking talking about?

In Chicago we’re alot tougher than this…..oh, i forgot, you guys aren’t from Chicago.

    • BerwynBomber

I agree. No reason to bail on the season. But this puts the Fox regime on the clock.

Doesn’t mean they can’t turn it around. Hell, they can do that in a span of two weeks, but they’re on notice. The ’15 hey-we’re-competent-again standard no longer applies.

      • AlbertInTucson

This team was not ready to play this evening.

        Hope opener.

Outplayed by a rookie opponent QB.

Outcoiached by a rookie opponent Head coach.

Between THAT and all the bodies carted off, there is NO silver lining in this cloud.

        None.

        Zero.

        Zip.

        Nada.

        • BerwynBomber

What was your take on Pederson? I get the impression he will need to tone down the gambler act. Some of those fourth down calls were borderline nuts.

But other than that, he seems to be pushing all the right buttons thus far.

          • AlbertInTucson

He played to his youngster’s strengths.

I had no problem not attempting a field goal on 4th & goal with an obviously gimpy placekicker..

Even if you get stuffed, you have no reason to believe the Bears can drive 99 yards.

          • BerwynBomber

I guess. It just seemed like three points makes it three scores and ices the game. But I didn’t know how badly their FGK was hurt.

          • AlbertInTucson

He grabbed his hammy after the previous FG and limped off after that KO.

          • AlbertInTucson

Possible job opportunity for Robbie next week.

            He went to Penn State.

Seems like a good fit until Caleb heals up.

          • AlbertInTucson

It’s still early. What works against a poorly coached Bear team may not be good enough against a more viable opponent.

          • AlbertInTucson

How about “Wish he was OUR coach”?

          • willbest

I told you the stats say go for it. He is going to put them to the test it looks like.

          • BerwynBomber

You might be right. But some of those were hardly fourth and ones. So I wonder how that factors into your study.

But could simply come down to what Al said: kicker was hurt.

          • SC Dave

Three for three on 4th down

    • RenoBear

hahahaha… hey i lived there for the first 17 years of my life… the last 24 I’ve been everywhere else. Oh wait, that’s not directed at me because i got over this loss by the end of the third fucking quarter. It hurts watching this shit… but it’s part of the process

      • PaceBot 2000

it’s all part of the process.

        • RenoBear

makes the wins that much sweeter when they get here….. like next fuckin week. ok ok I’ll step away from the pipe

    • TBC

LOL I didn’t know that pacebot was waffle.

      • BerwynBomber

You’re off your game this year, Cheesy.

        • TBC

This year is only 11 days old!!!

    • Irish Sweetness

I didn’t hear anyone say cut Cutty.

Fox is not really the problem. You can’t polish turds.

I know would do a better job than Ryan Pace or Jerry Angelo and I’m not even in the industry or the country.

  • BerwynBomber

Don’t know if I have ever seen a rookie QB with such command of an O as Wentz. Closest in recent memory are R-berger and Wilson. Kid’s a quick study. Obviously.

    • That Guy

Disagree. Wentz played a good game, but he isn’t putting the offense on his back by any stretch. He managed the game until the Bears gifted him some turnovers. The only reason he looked so dominant was that the Eagles couldn’t move the ball on the ground in the first half.

      • AlbertInTucson

They kept him on a short leash, for sure, but he was excellent on that leash and DID take some shots down the field.

      • willbest

He would have been more impressive without the two dropped TD passes.

        • AlbertInTucson

He all but HANDED the ball to Jordan Matthews on the one HE dropped.

Not to mention a PI call Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder could have made against Glenn.

          • willbest

I figure the two first downs off +2 yard yard spots made up for that play.

      • BerwynBomber

Well, you have a higher standard for rookie QBs than me. They put a lot on Wentz’s plate in my estimation. Given, again, that he’s a rook.

        • Joecashflow

Read the piece by Dan Pompei on Wentz. He was managing pro sets at NDS. One in a 1000. He has no nerves. Business as usual. 24 years old. Not your averge rookie. Sure looks worth those 2 1st Rd picks, plus plus.

    • AlbertInTucson

Then you must not have seen Garappolo.

OK, he’s not a “rookie”, technically.

      • BerwynBomber

        Garappolo is not a rookie.

        • AlbertInTucson

          He was a virgin.

  • PaceBot 2000

    14-2?

    • ButtonShoes

Flip that around, subtract 2 from the win column, and add 2 to the loss column.

      • PaceBot 2000

        gay post.

        • ButtonShoes

Gay or not gay, it’s accurate.

          • PaceBot 2000

oh my god. go back to bleacher nation right now. fucking shame on you. fucking pussy ass cubs fan.

          • ButtonShoes

You can keep insulting me all you want. It won’t change the fact that the Bears are a complete shitshow.

          • PaceBot 2000

You’re a Cubs fan on a Bears blog and you know it. It’s OK, but why even show up? Just go back to bleacher nation.

          • ButtonShoes

Yeah, I’m a Cubs fan. And a Bears fan too. And this Bears team is awful, and that needs to be faced up to.

    • AlbertInTucson

      2-14?

      • PaceBot 2000

no, your computer is messed up, i said 14-2.

  • PaceBot 2000

there’s an old saying: never behave in a way as a fan that would get you fucking punched in the face by the guys you admire most on the team.

  • That Guy

First Soldier Field Experience was a blast. Thanks to all for the recommendations.

We drank Dragon’s Milk Whiskey Barrel beer in the lot and then walked in from there. I did not do the flask thing, but I brought a one gallon plastic bag full of nuts, fruit, etc. Didn’t have to buy anything at the game but water (next time I’ll bring a water bottle or something).

Weather was perfect, seats were amazing (Section 108, Row 11). Not too many Eagles fans (saw a couple of hundred maybe), but they were vocal in our section. They were also surprisingly friendly – no belligerent drunks, no superfan warriors, no obnoxious cheering.

The crowd absolutely died after that pick from Cutler. That was the worst quarter for the Bears in recent memory (probably have to go back to Cutler getting sacked 9 times in a half).

Eddie Royal was the player that stuck out as a playmaker on offense. He had a great game. Jeffery had a #1 WR worthy performance, but nothing crazy. White was not targeted more than maybe once in the first few series. Then all of a sudden he started getting Cutler’s trust back. That’s a huge plus. The WR group is fine for now. That’s maybe the only position group I can say that for.

Langford was garbage. We finally started moving the ball on the ground and I realized I didn’t even know the names of the players that were doing it.

Our tackles are garbage. Cutler was getting hassled from behind all night. He can step up in the pocket, but he still needs a lot more help on the edge.

Our D was really spotty. We stopped the run in the first half, but that was about it. I feel like the offense made the D get gassed with those turnovers, but in the second half of the game we had a lot of stupid penalties. When Philly goes for in on 4th and 2 and fails, you don’t want to see the yellow flag come down. Willie Young was great though. If he and McPhee can both be solid and Floyd can start producing as a 3rd rusher, we’ll maybe start seeing some improvement. But we really need to see better tackling all over the D.

Awesome experience, but a really frustrating game.

    • PaceBot 2000

wait…..so you’re saying we should NOT burn down Pace’s house, steal Fox’s heart meds from his dresser or kidnap Cutlers children and execute them on the internet?

      • That Guy

        Maybe 1/3 would be okay…

    • BerwynBomber

Royal has looked good this year. Alshon is still a beast.

Said this last night, but Alshon and Diggs are the two best WRs in the NFCN.

      • Irish Sweetness

Diggs is good, crazy game on Sunday.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Depressing numbers.

Playoffs in 5 of the last 25 seasons, soon to be 26.

1 and 12 or 13 in this ridiculous stretch at home.

  • AlbertInTucson

Kevin White’s running (or what passes for his running) strikes me as “Labored.”

I submit that if he actually still HAD 4.3 speed, that fly sweep is a potential trip to the house instead of a crappy spot short of a first down.

    • PaceBot 2000

lol, it did not look fluid.

      Stefon Diggs looks fluid.

Please tell me Diggs was a top pick.

    • That Guy

White has been the biggest dissapointment of the season so far. He looked MUCH better this week than last, but still does not look like a high first round pick. Seems like the mistakes are mental right now.., we’ll see if he can right the ship.

      • willbest

Floyd doesn’t look that great either, but at least he is rookie, and with injuries to McPhee and now Houston is playing more snaps than he ought to in a game.

      • Irish Sweetness

I think he’s just inexperienced. He’ll be fine. Takes three years, right?

    • willbest

I hope its the hammy rather than whatever happened to his knee/leg last year

  • AlbertInTucson

FF team, The White Elephants, go to 2-0.

From the “I’d rather be lucky than good” file, we could have ost to two other teams this week.

  • PaceBot 2000
    • BerwynBomber

      Could also be precautionary/standard protocol.

I assume we will find out tomorrow.

    • willbest

A broken thumb will land him on IR designated to return. You are looking at 6 weeks at a min.

      • TBC

Boomerang IR is 8-10 weeks I think. PUP is 6 weeks but that’s not an option

  • beninnorcal

Sorry Waffle, I know the score, I had this team winning 8 this year, which is technically still possible. But this one hurt bad. It feels like this team is a long way from competing.

    • willbest

If Cutty broke his thumb the season can’t be salvaged.

      • beninnorcal

Tonight’s game made me question whether the season could be salvaged with a healthy Cutler. Not to say Cutler is some terrible qb, but more to say that the Bears, as a whole, are actually a terrible team.

        • BerwynBomber

Jay hasn’t played well either so far. In fact, Alshon and Royal have been the lone bright spots on the O after two games.

          • beninnorcal

Didn’t mean for it to sound like I’m defending Cutler either. He hasn’t played well in either of his first two games this year.

          • beninnorcal

As a team, they don’t look good.

          • BerwynBomber

Agreed. I thought the D played reasonably well in HOU and the O looked decent for the first half in HOU. Not much of anything on either side tonight.

  • Irish Sweetness

I had the feeling all week we’d lose this game. I started Ryan Matthews. I picked up the Eagles defense off the waiver wire on about half of my teams. It had banana skin written all over it for a team that can’t protect its QB, and doesn’t believe in the fundamental principle of defense. Pressure.

Two of the disappointing aspects of the game I was expecting, but not Cutty looking like a schmuck.

The defensive ineptitude of Vic Fangio we know. Vic Fangio has NO balls. GREAT defenses do not rush 4. You cannot rush 4 all the time and expect to play good defense – certainly not with a DL like ours. Eddie Goldman seems to have his fans but I’m not one of them. Show me something Eddie. Hicks is okay. And that’s it. Vic Fangio has NO balls. The good side to that is he will be gone at season’s end, and we will have a 6-10 record and some nice draft position. I heard all about Vic’s great defense in SF, which was entirely, of course, about the players, not the scheme. Vic Fangio has NO balls. Don’t get rid of the verbiage, just get rid of him. He doesn’t understand defensive football, although he is paid millions of dollars to do so. PRESSURE.

The offensive diarrhea was expected. Whitehair is out of his depth thus far, nothing we can do about that – oh wait … there’s Ted Larsen… but no, winning is not the plan. Training up Whitehair is the plan. High draft picks. Langford does not deserve to be starting. Howard is clearly the better back, capable of moving the chains and not getting lace-tackled. Royal was amazing. AJ is the man on jump balls … but Jay … wow.

After seeing Bradford win behind a poor line (his defense aside), and Cutty today, his position in the scheme of things is about bottom to mid-tier two for me. Wildly inaccurate today. Sloppy decisions again. Just poor. Conor Shaw may be more talented. This was 2014 Cutty.

If Fangio is serious about not pressuring the opposition, then you need to be making moves for guys like Wilkerson when they come along. Fangio is basing his offense around a front three that don’t get pressure. Not blitzing the QB – especially a rookie QB – just compounds the problem.

We’re weak in the trenches. Not a good thing if you’re trying to win football games. POX have a year to fix that. I wish them well.

But Vic Fangio has NO balls.
