• Bears-4-Ever

Cool. Looks like I’ll be driving to Indie next year to see the Bears at Lucas Oil Stadium. Great Place to watch a game.

    • BillW

Not much to choose from. Houston? Tampa? No thanks. Dallas is a nice city but not sure I’d want to feed Jerry’s ego.

NY is always a good choice. Will the new Minny stadium be ready? If so that may be the best choice. Be interesting to see where my oldest son and his buddies decide to go, if anywhere. I’d bet Indy (they’ve been to NY recently for the Jets.)

  • AlbertInTucson

“The final interception happened directly in front of me and when the ball left Cutler’s hand my entire section thought it was a touchdown. Then Deonte Thonpson did something remarkable. He just kept running and didn’t turn around until well after the ball was picked five yards behind him. Weird part is he got himself wide open! If he simply stops and turns around it’s an easy completion and he’s one missed tackle from the end zone.”
Maybe this was covered yesterday but, Cutler was hit as he release that ball (as he was on all 3 picks). Thompson’s running to where the ball was SUPPOSED to go but the ball is well short because of the hit. The INT is on Thompson because…?

    • Anonymous

Was Cutler hit on the first INT? I thought that was all about the DET DBs making a nice play on a semi-ill-advised pass.

      • AlbertInTucson

I thought he was hit on all three.

        • willbest

He wasn’t hit. He threw the ball 9 feet in the air up to Meredith (who was covered). He either couldn’t come up with it or it was batted, but either way it bounced back into the field of play and a Lions DB came up with it.

          • BillW

I watched it a few times but not in slow mo. No doubt Meredith jumped high but the ball was not above his head (at the high point of the jump) The defender jumped when he did – but was not looking for the ball. I think waved his arms or something but no PI. If anything, Meredith initiated contact trying to reach around / through him to catch it. Whether it hit the defender or Meredith I don’t know but Meredith had little chance in catching it.

The fact that it was intercepted was just dumb luck. I didn’t think Cutty was hit. Of the three that’s the only one that is arguably his fault, and I wouldn’t say that myself. Could have been thrown higher and maybe we even get a flag but that’s the only (lame) criticism that could be made.

          • DaMurph

I thought that was pass interference, but guess they didnt

          • AlbertInTucson

Disagree. His body was hit on 2 and his arm was clipped on one.

          • Irish Sweetness

Meredith could have caught that ball – many would. That’s more to do with Meredith. Cutty really couldn’t have placed that ball anywhere else for it to be caught. It was a perfect throw – I thought – that ended up being an interception.

Agree on the headline; in fact, Cutler was our best offensive player this year, which is a first during his CHI tenure. And special kudos to him when you consider our banged-up wideouts throughout the year.

Still, cautious optimism remains the smartest outlook. He is a competent NFL starter, which in fairness to him, is no small thing. But beyond a borderline top 16 guy, he still has much to prove.

    • SC Dave

I noted the following story about Forte. Number one in the NFL in yards from scrimmage since his arrival on the Bears in 2008.

  • Sactowns#1

Not coming anywhere near the West Coast. Lame.

Final League Leaders for those interested:

    Passer Rating — R Wilson 110.1

    QBR — C. Palmer 82.1

    QB Yards — D. Brees 4,870

    Rushing — A Peterson 1,485

    Receiving Yards — J. Jones 1,871

Receiving Total– A. Brown and J. Jones 136

    Sacks — JJ Watt 17.5

    Tackles (total) — N. Bowman 154

    INTS — M. Peters and R. Nelson 8

    • Sactowns#1

I believe Bowman will be a FA this year.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

        nope

        • Sactowns#1

My bad. I was thinking of Boldin not Bowman. I’d take either though.

    • That Guy

A bunch of monsters right there. Drew Brees just puts up ridiculous numbers every season. Peterson shows no sign of aging. And JJ Watt is like a different breed of human.

      • Anonymous

Yeah, Brees had a monster year. Had NO even had an average D they might have been an SB contender. As it was they were the 2014 Bears except with Brees.

Agree about Watt and Peterson. I also liked Peters in the draft last year despite his discipline issues in college. Otherwise, he looked like the best CB in the draft. A rangy playmaker.

    • Irish Sweetness

Shout out to The Beast, the former Bear and brother, Brandon Marshall :

How many NFL receivers caught more touchdown passes this season? Not a one.
      14 TDs.
Also joint 4th in receptions (109) and yards (1502).

But having Adrian Amos is a better move according to Pace and apparently 99% of fans.

  • Captain Obvious

Wait, you mean the Bears play the Packers at home, and the Lions away?

    Mind. Blown.

  • Johnnywad

    Anybody seen Cheesy? Nope.

    • BearDown100393

      Who’s looking?

    • Anonymous

Cheese have mediocrity stamped all over them. They COULD get by WAS (I think WAS will win) but at best they will be steamrolled the following week by CAR or ARI.

    • CanadaBear

Gotta be hard dealing with the Fudgies fall from grace. Up until this year Erin looked other worldly and he just oozed confidence when he played the Bears. Nothing was too outrageous to try and it usually succeeded. This year he didn’t look great in the first game and the second game he failed. After that, every time I watched them (most weeks) he didn’t seem confident and had that “What next?” look to him. FUCKING AWESOME!

      • Anonymous

Actually the first game he was the same old Rodgers against us — mad efficient — but yeah by the second game he was lost. Weird to see him look so average as he did most of this year.

        • CanadaBear

Had to look it up. Not a lot of yds (185) but like you said mad efficient. It was awesome seeing Cutler consoling Erin after the game for a change.

      • AlbertInTucson

Rodgers hasn’t had that SEG on his face since the Bear game in Lambeau.

      • That stupid grin is off his face now.

And I couldn’t be happier. This season has taught Rodgers that he’s not immortal.

I don’t know if this affects his mojo going forward, but I hope it does.

It has also revealed to the rest of the world what we already knew.

Rodgers is one of the biggest point-the-finger whiner QBs in the league.

    • BillW

I’m sure he’s reading. And if I were him I’d be hoping for a few miracles to be able to say “we’re still the Packers!”

That said, it’s more likely on to 2016 to see if Jordy can come back. But here’s the rub – if Aaron does go back to what he was, he’s still exposed as “mortal” (NTTAWWT). Like any player not named Brady, he needs weapons and plenty of them.

Frankly, for all his INTs, I have changed course and put Favre ahead of Rodgers. Though Aaron is Canton bound when the time comes and that alone makes him special.

But at one time I would have put him in the top five in the SB era. No more. He doesn’t make his teammates better – they make him better or worse. And he can’t lead a team back in the 4th. Not even with first and goal and plenty of time.

Of course, give him an extra second that is not earned and he’s at least 50-50.

      • AlbertInTucson

Yes, but his body continues to send him the same, sad message.

        • That Guy

The sad part about this is that this was his chance to make an impact on the national stage. This was his chance to make his case for Canton.

Still, if the Panthers win it all (and they have as good a shot as any team right now), he’ll still get a ring.

          • willbest

He wouldn’t be headed to Canton without winning the SB MVP.

          • Anonymous

You mean “with” I assume. But yes, Briggs is much closer to the HoF than Peanut and even Briggs’ chances are slim.

          • Irish Sweetness

If Briggs goes to the HOF it’s a joke.

          • BillW

I love Peanut; his not going to Canton is no knock on him at all. I would have loved to see him contribute to the Panthers off-season success. But a ring at this point is sort of a consolation prize. The real ring would have been with the Bears had they managed it. Jim McMahon has 2 rings. Only one really counts.

          • Anonymous

I wouldn’t quite go that far. Peanut played in twelve games this year. So it wasn’t like he was wearing a ballcap and carrying a clipboard all year.

“According to his previous statement, Alshon leaving this up to his agent. So it will 100% be about money.”

Because it’s ALWAYS about the money.

    • willbest

It should be. They put their body’s through hell. They deserve as much as they can get, as long as they abided by their word.

      • The GP

It doesn’t matter. Pace will tag him. The agent can pound sand, it’s a formula.

And next year, being butt hurt that he got tagged, Alshon will condition poorly and sit out 6-7 games with leg issues.

        • willbest

Of course his agent will tell him back to back years of poor conditioning and missing game is going to substantially reduce the guaranteed.

          • The GP

            will it?

        • Irish Sweetness

14 million is insane GP. I don’t think Pace is going there.

      • Trac

Sigh. I prefer the sincere fortitudenal desire to be the best football player and team mate you can be as well as the desire to make barrels of money.

        • BillW

That’s right. Because the two are not mutually exclusive. The Bears will certainly pay him market value for a top WR assuming he actually performs as one.

When guys start saying they want respect and more money and feel they need to go to another team, it always sounds to me like “my current team knows I’m not really worth it, but I’ll get some other team to overpay and then I can finally stop working so hard.”

          • That Guy

There’s an argument for both actually.

These contracts are only guaranteed for so much, If you want to see the big numbers on the last years of a 5-7 year deal, you have to be somewhere where there are other players to make you look good. If you sign on with a floundering organization for a bigger payday, you probably only see 2-3 years before someone comes in to do a rebuild and your contract becomes expendable.

The clearest example this off-season is Mario Williams.

          • Trac

I really am of the mind to offer the guy market value and let him walk if someone wants to over pay. I think it’s a big mistake to offer the guy an all pro pay check.

  • Trac

Is it soo much to ask that if you’re a gigantamous “big” women and you’re going to go to the grocery store wearing spandex tights would you please have the decency to put on some underwear. Mmmkay.

No. The only acceptable wardrobe for women of such size is the moo moo, and its important to shame such women into preferably losing weight so we don’t have to pay for their healthcare, or into such dresses so we don’t have to experience their formless body in all its horror.

          • Scharfinator

            Is being a fatist wrong?

            Fat is a choice. Race/orientation/gender isn’t.

          • Well, I think there’s a certain amount of choice, but I mostly think it’s genetic.

Basically, their body craves food more than the avg human (for whatever darwinian reason).

I liken it to a sex drive. Some guys have a higher sex drive than others. Naturally, those alphas can “abstain” but it’s MUCH harder (pun intended).

Just look at Rex Ryan and his bro.

Rex gets the lapband. Skinny. Bro doesn’t, still fat.

Doesn’t that point to a physiology more than psychology or diet?

          • Scharfinator

I think you pointing to two brothers with different results helps to debunk the genetics argument, rather than support it. Both were pretty fat, one of them got in better shape. The genetics are pretty close (though not identical, I know).

I also don’t mean to suggest that a certain build is fat. Endo vs. Endo vs. Ectomorph is how you’re built and you might look solid. However, THIS is a result of a series of poor choices in a downward spiral.

Perhaps some people don’t realize they’re fat because everyone around them is fat too?

In Ireland, I didn’t realize I was an alcoholic.

        • willbest

Not really. Women are communicative creatures that have designed sexual harassment laws to prevent men from saying things that upset them. Men on the other hand are visual creatures. It is high time sexual harassment laws become tailored to our needs and prevent women from displaying things that upset us.

      So question for you guys….

I think I’ve asked this before, how do you feel about hiring heavy people?

      • willbest

I suppose its a function of how heavy they are, how permanent the job is, and how specialized the task they are doing.

        • MB30SD

so I’ve done my own little straw poll, and I’ve always been disappointed with heavier peeps.

I always ask the candidate in casual conv if they played competitive sports growing up/HS/College and f they do anything now, i.e., lift, crossfit, triathlons, etc…

100% of the time the people who are alpha/competitive are ALWAYS ass kickers vs heavy (all other factors including qualifications being taken into consid)

So not sure how it’s causation… are they heavy cause they’re lazy, or lazy cause they’re heavy, but I’ve def proven the correlation enough in my own study to follow the results. Sorry but I’m not sorry.

          • MB30SD

Or maybe I just like assholes like myself?

  • willbest

The first INT I was Cutler’s fault. The receiver was covered, it was a bad decision even if it required a lucky Detroit deflection. Maybe if he were throwing it to Jeffery, but he wasn’t.
The second and third probably were, but there is enough ambiguity that they might not have been. And given his other 13.5 games, I am inclined to think one of them probably wasn’t.

    • Irish Sweetness

Bat down, perfect throw. Third looked bad, but the receiver needs to be looking for the ball at some point. Cutty was our bright spot this season, and given the receiver situation yesterday I knew it would be multiple picks. Nothing to see here. Cutty is in the elite convo now.

  • Trac

Seems most of us regs were right. Queens were the team on the rise this year in our division. Such a shame we couldn’t have switched places in the division with the cheese. Next year boys, write it on the shit house wall, it’s gonna happen, no doubt in my mind.

    • willbest

I don’t know. Teddy doesn’t look any better this year than last year. They are going to be looking for answers there sooner than later and AP isn’t going to last forever. Packers will have Jordy back, and then every time you see Rodgers flushed out and headed towards the sideline it will be a 15-20 yard completion to Nelson instead of the throwing it away we have seen now. Lions with a competent OC started winning games and taking pressure off their defense. While I expect the Bears to win 10 games next year, we could just as easily end up 7-9 and in 4th place in the division.

      • MB30SD

That’s a shit on of ifs maings

      • The GP

Vikes go nowhere this year because Bridgewater can’t QB for shit.

They managed 70 yards of passing against the Pack last night. 70 yards.

You can go places running with AP and fielding that D. But at some point they gotta be able to pass.

      • Irish Sweetness

Teddy didn’t throw for a hundred yards yesterday. 1 INT. If we get receivers in place for next year, put Kyle back at guard, and get us some pass rushers and a Mike, then it’s on.

    • Irish Sweetness

Certainly the year after, next year might be 1984. 10-6.

  • DA BLOG 2105 FF CHAMP, BUTCH!

Yes, it was a hard fought win. Almost everything that could go wrong n WK17, did.

DeAngelo Williams went down. That’s about 15 points. Then, they benched Palmer at half time. That’s another 15 on the board. Brady couldn’t do shit vs. MIA. MIA! And that was with home field advantage on the line. This took down WR Keyshwan Martin who I spot started cuz I could no longer trust an inj Cooper in the last game.

All that being said, I still scored enough to beat GP, but it was a lil too close for comfort.

Thanks to Bears505, Ender, Artoo, Sac, GP, NBIT, Shady, Fres and Trac for balling.

It was perhaps the most competitive league I’ve ever played in.

No thanks to Waffle and Frank for bailing, though I will forever remember Waffle’s upset over the then undefeated GP even though he only played 5 guys.

But obviously, I would need 12 COMMITTED FFers. We’ll see.

Alrighty. Back to the scheduled programming about bitching about one thing or another.

    Sincerely,

    The Champion Commish.

haha, I made a huge comeback and performed admirably as we go into next season. I barely lost to Fres in week 14/15 and just fucking stomped on Frank in week 16/17. Yes, I pulled an Irsay and went on a several week coke binge midseason but that’s only because I was distraught after I had released Derek Carr in the beginning of the season when I thought his hand had fallen off.

haha, GP……FIVE FUCKING GUYS. FIve warriors…Five Spartan warriors with so much heart that they took on the mighty GPersian Empire at ThermopylaESPN and came through with a victory for the fantasy football ages.

      • The ironic part? You got stuck with Carr/Bortles, and they were much better QBs than guys like Peyton, maybe even Rodgers.

        In FF, you never know.

        • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

it’s so fucking bittersweet. I missed the draft because I was watching the game at my buddies house who ended up dying in late October. That was the real reason for my disappearance, not Derek Carr….although that was painful as well.
I remember sitting by his bedside and I was trying to get that mobile app to work so I could draft from his house. I was telling him that his T Cell Lymphoma was getting in the way of what could be an epic fantasy season with my all bears squad. That was a great night…..just not for my fantasy football squad.

sorry to hear that my maings. fuck, that sucks. Man, I learned in the last few years when something so jarring in your world like that happens, the outside world just keeps grinding along without taking just a respectful momentary pause… just keeps churning along. Life is hard sometimes, but just have to keep kicking and scratching to make the years you have here as amazing as you can… cause that’s all you get.

            Right trac?!

          • Cutty of Mt. Olivet Nazarene

ha, yes, the world is going to happen whether we like it or not.

The number one man killer is discouragement. You gotta do whatever you can to over come THAT.

          • MB30SD

that and going more mico… naggy cold bitches (i.e., discouragement personified). hahaha

          • Trac

Nothing like the old ball and chain to take away a man’s joy. Selah. Lol

          • MB30SD

suck the life RIGHT outta ya man.

          • yeah, i understood in your case.

And it’s sorta hard to be invested in autodraft teams.

            Still, you might’ve lucked out.

Alshon’s vagina was hurt all season, and Forte was hurt AND became a committee back. Bennett checked out, and Royal was MIA.

You’d probably have overpaid for them.

The only ones that had a decent year were Cutler and Miller (in FF)

        • Irish Sweetness

          Bortles was occasionally money.

    • Irish Sweetness

Well done Butch. I’ll join up next season to make it less queer.

I can now reveal my fantasy greatness for 2015.

      20 teams. 6 1sts. 6 2nds. 5 3rds. You may kiss my rings.

Starting Zach Miller cost me two leagues where I lost both by 1 point.

Anyone hear Pace’s press conference? Anything of substance?

This is the first time in several years that there is no anticipation or wondering/hope of an HC, coord, or GM being fired. No sarcasm – that is huge progress.

Pace in regards to 2016 draft picks: It’s going to be best player available and if that’s a quarterback, that’s a quarterback.

Would surprise me but not shock me.

    • Trac

Timing is right for one. He can wait in the wings for a couple of years till Cutty rides off into the sunset with either a ring or a limp. Hopefully a ring.

I’ve been telling everyone this GM has yet to prove he can build a team. They will most likely take an offensive player in one of the first two rounds even though our roster is screaming for help on D.

      • Trac

Sac, it’s been 1 year my man.

        • Sactowns#1

I know I know. The whole BMarsh trade combined with drafting a WR who didn’t play a down really left a bad taste in my mouth.

      • Irish Sweetness

If they took a WR and OT in the first two rounds, I’d trust them, Sac. We could use both.
I think we’ll all be really excited come September. I expect them to hit in the draft and FA based on their past performance and not just hope.
