• EnderWiggin

    Please!

  • Is that the grassy knoll where JFK got shot?

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Wow, very bad taste using this pic.

      • willbest

maybe he thinks the Bears playoff chances are going to get assassinated tonight?

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

There’s more to that picture than meets the eye?

      • BerwynBomber

        Extremely

  • In other news, the Kwiatkoski era commences tonight (for Tre).

Also, do other Polish ppl even know how to spell Polish names?

    • SC Dave

      I think so.

  • BearDown100393

Cancer Man – bottom right corner lighting the celebratory cigarette.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Sign on top of the bldg – Our LB’s better play like Dick Butkus?

      • Huge Bears Penis

we are going to kill ’em like OJ?

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

          aaah…..yeeeaaah, right….

it’s getting creepy in here. lol

          • Huge Bears Penis

            too soon? sorry

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

            haha

  • wow. Ender and Shady’s QBs combined for a whopping 18 points today.

    Keep in mind, it’s a 2QB league.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

2 QB league? Eye am jealous.

    • EnderWiggin

No way Ingram and Cooks get him 39. Right?

      • Never know.

Ingram alone should get him 12-15.

That means if cooks gets like 50 yds and TD, yeah, that’ll be 39+

You gotta hope Cooks doesn’t go for 100+ or get a TD.

        • EnderWiggin

          Atl @ home =(

        • Shady

Like TY Hilton did for him at the end of that game? C’mon Chargers, try not to suck.

          • Sauron’s right eyeball

            lol

          • The Steelers and Jets getting blown out early killed my two stud RBs chances.

And nice choice going with Texan’s D over Chiefs, shady!

  • Cubsnlinux

Is there a way to watch SNF on iPad?

    • Huge Bears Penis

      yes

      • beninnorcal

        Hahaha!!

  • SC Dave

Ok, so I watched the Bills-cardinals, and I have to give the Bills D some credit. They played well

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

Boring. Does your television only have one channel? lol

  • Jack Lacan

The Revenant brings good luck and a Bear victory tonight.

  • Cubsnlinux

This SNF intro routine is crap..

    • BearDown100393

It panders to the lowest denominator.

      • Maybe they should Hire Dennis Miller again to even it out.

        • BearDown100393

          Paul Maguire

          • Jack Lacan

            Sam Rosen

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

Kaitlyn Jenner would be an interesting selection. That would be a disturbing but very intriguing situation.

  • Hoyer=hope

From Collinsworth’s lips to your ears.

    • beninnorcal

I hate Collinsworth but I like hope.

  • BearDown100393

“The Bears need a leader and they hope it is Brian Hoyer”

    Damning indictment

    • Almost every NFL analyst says the same thing (Dilfer, Woodson, Young…) at some point, a fan has to believe there’s something to it.

  • Jack Lacan

There were more photos of Eli than Bears in the opening promo.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

Speaking of shot in the head (see Jeff’s photo) this is some fucking bullshit

Rahm better wake the fuck up

    http://wgntv.com/2016/09/25/man-shot-on-michigan-avenue-in-loop/

    • BearDown100393

      Rahm don’t care.

  • Big Mike

    Bear the fuck down

    • SC Dave

      This.

  • SC Dave

How about a td return to start off?

Er… not. Thought WE were receiving!!

  • Jack Lacan

    Dak — really?

  • Big Mike

1/2 the defensive starters out 4 rookie DBs
    Kyle Fuller. Geez

  • willbest

I was dubious when they replaced Faith Hill with Underwood, but the change to the intro song is awful

    • BearDown100393

      Joan Jett would be best.

    • SC Dave

They should have Ozzie do it

  • Naturally, we just give them 25.

While Bill is pooching everything to about the 10 on KOs.

  • madscout12

    Long ducking night, boys.

    • SC Dave

      For the Cowboys, you mean.

      One down, five to go

  • Cubsnlinux

    Shitty defense

  • madscout12

Can we get a holding call? I guess you can grab into the collar as he bears you. SMH.

    • SC Dave

      You know how it works.

      • madscout12

And again, against young. Can’t wait till we get called for a bunch of them.

  • It’s only fair Dez gets knocked out if we don’t have any secondary left

  • Zeke is gonna run for 200 yds, and I’m still gonna fall to Artoo.

  • willbest

We are starting Jones again? Damn

  • BearDown100393

    Ezekiel 25:17

    • SC Dave

Zeke will be the next one down. Ankle

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

RIght now, Dallas has a 70.9 percent chance of winning this game. According to the ESPN predictorlater

  • BearDown100393

    Way to go Christian Jones!

  • Cre’von LeWho?

  • Big Mike

    When does Goldman come back?

    • willbest

      4 weeks in theory

      • Big Mike

        Geez.

  • BearDown100393

Al: “Let’s take a look at that Dallas defense” – Roll calls the offense. NBC.

  • Amos laying the wood!

  • Huge Bears Penis

    wow that was a hit!!!

  • SC Dave

    Fucking WHAMMO

    • Big Mike

      MB very happy

      • SC Dave

        He should be

  • willbest

Bull shit that was a first

    • SC Dave

      No, it wasnt

  • BearDown100393

    Bye Dez.

  • SC Dave

    Okay, so it wasnt Eliot

  • Cubsnlinux

    Amos….fire!!!!

  • madscout12

That better not be a 1st. No way he crossed the line.

    • Cubsnlinux

Short by a yard.. should be

  • SC Dave

    Best thing? No sound here.

  • Cubsnlinux

Looks like as usual we will be playing catch up before the offense even takes the field

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

    What a drag..

  • SC Dave

    Not even close

  • Lovie Smith, ugh, John Fox – Al Michaels

It’s ok, Al, they’re the same guy.

    • SC Dave

      Only different shades of grey

  • Johnnywad

Fuck yeah Fox. You challenge that spot.

  • BearDown100393

Beasley – Back and to the left, back and to the left

  • willbest

Did they take challenging calls away from fox?

  • SC Dave

    Yay!!!

  • SC Dave

Of course, we cant stop 4th down, so

  • SC Dave

    Fuck it… stuff this shit

  • willbest

    Eagles showed 4th don’t matter

  • madscout12

    That’s a hold!

    • willbest

Not against the bears it isn’t

      • SC Dave

I was going to say that

  • SC Dave

Too much time for Floyd to cover that guy

  • SC Dave

Not even close to a td

  • Big Mike

Floyd on Whitten. Not even fair

    • SC Dave

With four seconds to throw it is

  • At least Floyd was agile enough to keep up with old man Witten.

    • Johnnywad

Looked like a dog chasing a laser pointer

  • Jack Lacan

Fox doesn’t stare at the Jumbotron like Lovie.

    • BearDown100393

      Chews gum like a pro.

    • SC Dave

Maybe he cant see that far?

  • Boy. The Boz must be hurting for money.

  • SC Dave

Even with the replay they gave them too good a spot

    • madscout12

Which I wouldn’t mind if we got the same.

  • wreckinball

    I guess

  • SC Dave

    At least they hit him

  • BearDown100393

Floyd is undersized. What’s the point?

    • willbest

We aren’t allowed to have nice things

      • BearDown100393

We don’t allow ourselves to have nice things. How about just draft a player instead of a project?

  • If you see the HB splitting out, you know it’s gonna be a sneak.

Our depleted D just got run over.

  • Jack Lacan

Guess Hoyer will have to stop playing PokΓ©mon One on the sidelines for a few minutes.

    • willbest

It’s fox so 3 and out has already been dialed up

      • BearDown100393

        #BirdCage

  • Maybe Cutler should come out and scream at the D.

    • BearDown100393

      Scream at McPhee

  • ButtonShoes

    Leonard Floyd = BUST.

    • Huge Bears Penis

      ButtonShoes = IDIOT

      • ButtonShoes

Deny it all you like. Won’t change anything.

        • Huge Bears Penis

after 2 games calling any player a bust is idiotic.

          • ButtonShoes

Maybe. But he’s not nearly big enough. And it shows on the field. He can’t stop anything.

  • Great way to open up drive.

    • BearDown100393

      #Pickled

  • SC Dave

    Holding no doubt

  • madscout12

    Like clockwork.

  • Big Mike

Do they even practice on offense. Shit.

  • willbest

White finally does something positive so of course

  • wreckinball

    There you go

  • Nice give up play.

Cuz our D is so stout.

    • willbest

      I told you 3& out

  • SC Dave

Wow… not a good decision there, hoyer.

  • Jack Lacan

Hoyer will get a Legendary tonight.

  • Cubsnlinux

    Shitty team ..god damn it

    • SC Dave

Oh gawd, the game kust fucking started

  • Well, at least our P has looked improved thus far.

Then again, he’s getting lots of chances to hone his art.

  • Even though the play was called back, White looked more explosive on that play.

    • BearDown100393

      He flashed

  • SC Dave

So far, it looks lie the typical officiating for a Bears game.

Other guys hold and hold and hold, and our good plays get taken away by penalties.

    Its all so predictable

  • willbest

    Peyton Manning is available…

  • wreckinball

    Hold em
    Or else

  • Cubsnlinux

OC continues to look like donkey shit..should be fired

  • RenoBear

Oh man… Rest easy, Arnold Palmer. Damn

    • BearDown100393

US needs a new guy for the Ryder Cup now.

  • Big Mike

2nd and 4 is too fuckkn easy

  • SC Dave

    That looked pretty jumbotronish

    • BearDown100393

      Nosebleed

      • SC Dave

        Ah…ok

As i said, no sou.d here

  • wreckinball

    Suck

    • SC Dave

What sucks the most is how our QBs never make it look easy like that.

      • wreckinball

        Dak is pretty good

        • Jack Lacan

          Yes – Dak!

          • wreckinball

I think Wentz is better though

      • willbest

Our receivers are never that open with clean throwing lanes

      • Big Mike

Great OL. Does that for a QB

  • Cubsnlinux

No offense..no defense..worst in the NFL..what the heck is our vaunted coaching staff doing?

  • BerwynBomber

If there was one game we needed our D to step up this was it.

    • BearDown100393

Problem is half the defense is injured.

    • Big Mike

Our D is mostly on the bench.

  • SC Dave

    Obvious hold v floyd

  • SC Dave

    Wow… thwy actually called it!!

  • wreckinball

    Nice

  • BearDown100393

“He dances around and sings all the time in the dressing room”

    #BirdCage

  • RenoBear

Good lord we suck. It’s frustrating and sad. I get the whole young guys and injuries blah blah blah… But the game NEVER NEVER EVER looks easy for the Bears. EVER. Even shot all teams get in a rhythm w certain plays. Fuck me

    • Jack Lacan

      We all share the pain.

      • RenoBear

I know man. I have zero expectations but I still find myself dying a little bit when I see teams just walk all over the beloved. Guess I’ll never get used to it

  • SC Dave

Think of how much worse we’d be without Freeman

    • willbest

Glenn seems to be invisible to the zebras

      • SC Dave

Okay by me. Secret mental powers?

      • BearDown100393

        Made a play

  • ButtonShoes

We need a rebuild of this rebuild of Pace and Fox’s.

  • wreckinball

    Nice play

  • a blitz!

  • Big Mike

    That could have been cslled

    • wreckinball

      disagree good play

      • Big Mike

        Could have been

Sent from Gmail on my iPhone

    • SC Dave

Probably, but it wasnt. So thats one back to us.

  • madscout12

Glenn better learn how to get his ducking head around.

    • our CBs never turn their head around
Used to think it was just Fuller (AKA NeckBrace), but it seems like all of them

  • SC Dave

Okay, the initial (shit)storm is hopefully over. Lets go get at least 3.

  • Jack Lacan

    Jauronstadtlovitres…

  • BillW

At this point I’d be satisfied with a fg drive before we’re down by 20

    • SC Dave

      Agreed. 3 would be ok

  • ButtonShoes

This is going to get terrifically ugly for the Bears very fast.

  • Hoyer should get the ball out quicker.

    • SC Dave

      A joke?

  • wreckinball

    Cmon

  • Jack Lacan

I knew someone was playing PokΓ©mon on the bench.

  • wreckinball

    Hopeless

  • SC Dave

    Shit

  • willbest

Why the shit don’t we run it ever at 2 yards

    • madscout12

With an empty ducking backfield too.

    • SC Dave

Because they are no smart enough to put Howard in to do it

  • madscout12

3rd and 2 and we don’t think of running.

  • that’s just BAD playcalling.

That ball was designed to hit a HB with questionable hands 2 yds behind the LOS on 3rd and 2. (and it bounced off his hands)

    WTF!

    #birdcage

  • BillW

Correction. At this point I’d be satisfied with a first down before we are down 10

  • RenoBear

And I know Langford wouldn’t have got the first even if he caught it… But I’m truly sick of that kid. Nothing special there. Let Howard do it

    • SC Dave

But Langford was good enough to let Forte walk, remember?

  • ButtonShoes

I’m beginning to wonder if the Bears will even get into Cowboys territory this game.

  • Big Mike

    Ugh

  • willbest

POD might just beat his 9 punt record

  • Cubsnlinux

Pox must be on the hot seat for this shit show.. don’t see anything from the bears..0

  • BearDown100393

Remember we were told by Twitter Guy how great Brian Hoyer was practicing at camp. Preseason is meaningless. But camp is everything.

    • Huge Bears Penis

Probably should be a backup for the Ravens, their OC loves how good players practice.

    • This game isn’t on Hoyer so far he’s been pretty accurate.

      • Johnnywad

It’s hard to miss teammates 7′ away.

  • Jack Lacan

    Uber? Lyfte?

  • wreckinball

    Freeman!

    • SC Dave

      Our best player

      • willbest

Is Jeffery, but if you mean defense then yes

        • BerwynBomber

Willie Young has played well this year too. As has Eddie Royal.

          • A7Xthebest

IMO Royal and Freeman are our best 2 on their respective ballsides now.

        • SC Dave

I did mean defense, but he make take overall by seasons end. The fucker comes to play, and does it well.

  • SC Dave

Losing Goldman is killing us. No middle of the d line

    • madscout12

If only because he doesn’t remember tucker, and Ego remembers how Mel taught the run.

“Remember guys…just let him go and we’ll get him 10 yards down field”

  • Big Mike

    Oh fuck me

  • BillW

This thread is going to be brutal. We know we’re banged up on D. We know our OC is hopelessly over his head. So really is this at all surprising?

    • Jack Lacan

      No.

  • wreckinball

Fuck Arnie dies and then we have that

    • Jack Lacan

Should have stayed with the Warfarin.

  • BuddhaJoe

So can we dispense with the Cutler hating retards yet? For fucks sack, he’s been the only the only reason we’ve won for two years and fucking idiots want to dump him for Garapollo.

    • SC Dave

Idiotic comment. Cutler lost as many games as he won

    • ButtonShoes

50-49 as Bears QB. Yeah, we sure have “won” with him, haven’t we.

      • BuddhaJoe

Yeah and think what we would have had with shit like this.

    • Hoyer has only thrown it like, what, 3 times?

      Completed one to TE.
      The other Lanford dropped.

Not exactly enough to say he’s worse than Cutler.

      • BuddhaJoe

You’re watching what it would have been like for 8 years without him.

        • This is what it was like him the last two weeks.
Except Hoyer costs a lot less.

          • SC Dave

Exactly. And probably fewer picms from Hoyer, but its early yet

          • BuddhaJoe

            It wasn’t a 17 point game in 20 minutes, so I diasgree.

    • wreckinball

      He’s on the team right?
      Really open season

    • SC Dave

I was too strong. It was only a idiotic half of a comment. Garapollo is not the answer

  • SC Dave

Gee… that play looked like defense

  • BearDown100393

    B. Hoyer 11 yards, D Prescott 67

  • Big Mike

They might score on every series. We might not get a first down this half 22 plays to 6

    • BillW

We’re essentially playing with 10 guys on d. If that. Matchup wise I mean

  • SC Dave

I’m so understanding why we let Forte walk.

    • willbest

Whether it was worth paying him is independent of who was behind him

    • If you like Forte, you should be happy he’s gone.

He’d be wasting his body under this OC.

  • Big Mike

    6 plays

    • SC Dave

      The 6 is the problem

      • Big Mike

Can’t win that way. Can’t even compete

        • SC Dave

Exactly. You have got to get some first downs

  • BearDown100393

    22 plays vs 6

    • madscout12

      Birdcaged.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Cupie “Dowell”ed.

  • Jack Lacan

In another few minutes we may have a Bears record half of nothingness.

  • SC Dave

Yeah, Dallas may score 50 tonight.

This shit is no better than the worst of Trestman

  • wreckinball

    Suck

  • Big Mike

Flipping to the Cubs fuck you Bears

  • BearDown100393

    Ron Turner needs a job.

    • SC Dave

Please dont even start that… please!

      • BearDown100393

        πŸ™‚

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

There goes the running game. Gotta pass now.

    • madscout12

Can the passes go beyond the LOS? I forgot if that was against the rules for us.

  • ButtonShoes

Can Leonard Floyd stop anyone? Ever?

    • SC Dave

You post as dumb of shit as ive ever seen on this blog, and thats saying something.

To the regs, this is the last time I feed this pathetic troll. My apologies for doing it even once.

      • ButtonShoes

Your unblinking homerism doesn’t help this team. If the Bears are bad, best to acknowledge it so we can start thinking about how to fix it.

        • BearDown100393

How are you personally going to fix the team. I’m intrigued.

          • ButtonShoes

Start a campaign to get the team sold to ownership that cares about winning championships? One-in-a-billion shot, I know, but right now it’s the best solution I can think of.

  • BillW

Seriously. I wonder if we can get a first down before it’s completely out of reach.

  • BearDown100393

    19 yards total offense

  • wreckinball

So make your pick first win

  • Huge Bears Penis

some of you guys should step away from the keyboards and call make a phone call

    National Suicide Hotline 1-800-273-8255

    • BearDown100393

I called. Jay answered. So I hung up.

  • First Howard play, 30 + yds.
    Now they’ll take him out

    • SC Dave

      Naturally

  • madscout12

    Holy shit.

  • AlbertInTucson

    We suck, again!

    This. Is. So. Bears.

The only good thing , for , so far?

They COULD have given the ball to Elliott TWICE for TDs already.

I may have to switch to THE BIG BANG THEORY repeats over on TBS.

    • SC Dave

That’s desperate man. You could just try the Off button

  • RenoBear

    Hmmmm… Howard!

  • willbest

Howard should come out cause we hate success

  • Alshon looks halfspeed.

    Again.

    • SC Dave

And still will be our leading WR tonight.

  • RenoBear

I want to see Howard the whole rest of the damn game

  • Jack Lacan

    Fox peeks at the Jumbotron.

  • wreckinball

    Wtfwas that

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

    bubble screen

  • The D just knows what plays are coming.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Happy trails, Arnold Palmer.

You put golf on the TV map.

  • madscout12

Where was that play on first down, birdcage?

  • Jack Lacan

    Fumblerooski!

  • SC Dave

Why so many patterns short of the first down marker?

  • SC Dave

What the fuck os this, delay of game?

  • SC Dave

    These coaches need to go

    • Absolutely SC.

I say we dump Fox and Birdcage, promote Fangio and whoever else at OC, and see what happens.

Fangio hasn’t exactly proven great, but maybe he has some fire.

  • Johnnywad

    Sweet

    • SC Dave

Lol… what we’re reduced to, eh?

      • Johnnywad

        This team is embarrassing.

        • SC Dave

Injuries did not help, but yes, it is

  • SC Dave

Well, at least we wont get shut out.

  • wreckinball

    Yea

  • Jack Lacan

    No bagels tonight…
Hope we didn’t make them angry.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

If we don’t close the gap to 7pts by halftime, I’m going to get some shut eye.

  • wreckinball

    Bad call !

  • Huh. Offsides? That seemed REALLLY tickytack

    • SC Dave

      And 100% predictable

  • BuddhaJoe

Good call, even though it didn’t work. Show some balls.

  • madscout12

    Dogshit call

  • BerwynBomber

    BS call

  • wreckinball

    Shit call !

  • SC Dave

100% predictable that our best play of the game is taken away by a specious penalty.

You know how it goes, guys.

  • BerwynBomber

We got robbed. That was beautifully executed too.

    • madscout12

      Everytime with great ST plays.

  • RenoBear

Omg are you Kidding me??? That was our recovery. We weren’t fucking offsides. Duck off officials

    • SC Dave

Its always the same Reno. You know that.

      • RenoBear

I know man. Like I said earlier I have no expectations but it still fuckin hurts to get jobbed week after fucking week

        • SC Dave

I blame the Super Bowl Shuffle.

I was hoping the penalty was only 25 years, but its looking like 50 now

  • Jack Lacan

The longest seven minutes in sports television.

  • madscout12

Nice. WR had 10 yds cushion

  • wreckinball

    Fucking zebras

  • Why aren’t we blitzing the shit out of that QB?
Force him to go down field.

  • SC Dave

Get Romos mug off the fucking screen.

  • willbest

    What are our DBs doing?

  • SC Dave

Thats what a pro QB looks like.

    • madscout12

And a pro oline, pro play caller, pro WR

      • Big Mike

        Pro bowl linr

    • PaceBot 2000

Do you ever turn it off?

  • BearDown100393

    Collinsworth compared Prescott to Staubach.

  • wreckinball

I guess they couldn’t challenge that?

  • SC Dave

I think defenders should be allowed a feee kick in the nuts to any offense player that celebrates a first down

  • Wow. Kiatwoski just came in like a train.

  • SC Dave

    Zeke is a cunt.

Celebrates two straight two yard gains.

  • Big Mike

Do the Cowboys have a punter?

    • Jack Lacan

      Dak.

  • Jack Lacan

    Dak missed one. Tough Dak.

  • Zeke doing the Roy Williams.

    You know u missed it.

    • SC Dave

See below. Zeke is a cunt.

  • willbest

Looks like I will be watching walking dead on Netflix come half time

    • SC Dave

Or kust tur. Off the TV. tomorrow is a work day, after all.

  • Jack Lacan

    Paper Boi.

  • RenoBear

Elliot doesn’t need to celebrate EVERY first down. Cocky little shit.

    • SC Dave

      He is a cunt

    • willbest

He does when he fumbles 5% of his carries

    • BearDown100393

Its a big deal before he gets busted.

  • chitownproud85

So…if this is the first half…and we assume their half time adjustments will be 10x what ours are, because..thats how this works….game ends…64-6? I’m kidding. They’ll be pulling starters and playing prevent way before that. 49-17 sounds about right.

    • AlbertInTucson

      What’s for Dallas to adjust?

      • SC Dave

Aha!! Our secret weapon, Al. We’re winning this game.

  • Jack Lacan

    Dak don’t slide.

  • wreckinball

    Awfuck

  • wreckinball

    After further review zebras suck

  • madscout12

They score and they show the ONE cheerleader with A cups? FML.

      #ACupsMatter

      • SC Dave

        Lol… thanks for that

  • willbest

I like Amos though. He hits hard

  • This D SUCKS.

    • BearDown100393

      What happened to beast?

    • willbest

No nanny, Goldman, Danny, fuller, Callahan

      • AlbertInTucson

That’s pretty much ALWAYS the case lately, no?

And Dallas came out with no Tiron Smith and busted a 20+ yard run right behind his replacement.

        • PaceBot 2000

Who only had to block Sutton and our rookie linebacker whiffed.

  • SC Dave

Still a bit pissed about the onside. A td after that and maybe we have been competitive. Now, we lose by at least 40.

Unless Freeman pulls an Urlacher in the second half. But Royal would have to do the Hester thing, and…. well….

    Sigh

  • BuddhaJoe

Fire these assholes. they dismantled the offense and did nothing for the Defense

  • AlbertInTucson

Folks, the the glass isn’t half-empty.

    It’s just empty.

    • BearDown100393

      And that glass is shattered.

  • Johnnywad

This team isn’t going to win a game this year. Year two my ass. They’re fucking terrible.

    • And this is when franchises make stupid ass decisions cuz the GM and HC don’t want to get fired.

Expect them to spend the house on FAs next offseason

      • SC Dave

No, its more important to justify a 4th round draft pick by letting your best offensive player walk without even talking about a contract.

    • willbest

Who is the best college QB?

      • SC Dave

LAmar Jackson, ,and we are sucking a couple years too early.

      • Johnnywad

        Deshone Kizer

  • Jack Lacan

And now for something completely different…

  • Jack Lacan

    Albatross!

  • ButtonShoes

Leonard, stop someone. Anyone. Make me wrong about you.

  • Big Mike

Big Mike weeps for the beloved. In better news my 8th grade team won 32-6

  • AlbertInTucson

    “DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Wake me up in 3 years.”

    Why?

We have absolutely NO reason to expect anything different.

    • SC Dave

      So this.

  • I don’t even know what the answer is.

Can’t stop the run. Can’t pressure. Everyone’s hurt. Fangio thinks blitzes are forbidden.

    • BearDown100393

Connor Barth kicked a field goal. The Bears build on that.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

Isn’t is awesome how well Kevin White is playing tonight. I’m so glad the Bears were able to snatch him up with the 7th pick. I can’t believe he fell to us. We love you Ryan Pace.

  • willbest

    Howard can catch?

    • SC Dave

Let him try, we know Langford cant

  • Jack Lacan

    Hoyer – Foyer – Faux – Yea — Hoyea…

  • willbest

This better be a 50 yard bomb

  • SC Dave

    Unreal.

  • AlbertInTucson

My FF oppnent must be screaming at the TV watching those goal line opportunities go to Prescott, Dunbar and Moss.

    • If I didn’t lose already, I’d be mad too.

Zeke could have 3 TDs already.

      • AlbertInTucson

I feel like I have dodged 3 bullets.

Mark my words though, he STILL could get 2 or 3.

  • madscout12

    Ducking shit.

  • Jack Lacan

    Cancel the post-game show.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

Omg….Nobody on this team knows how to win. We are screwed.

  • AlbertInTucson

The good news is, the Bears get the 2nd half kick-off.

The bad news is, there’s a 2nd half to this mess.

  • ButtonShoes

Normally you’d root for a bad team like this Bears team to lose every game to get a good draft pick, but I honestly don’t want the Bears to lose enough games to get one, because I don’t trust this Bears front office to have any earthly idea on what to do with it.

    • Yeah, but if we do get the #1 overall, that could potentially attract better quality GM/HC.

Who wouldn’t want to start with their own franchise QB?

      • ButtonShoes

If it meant getting rid of Pace and Fox, then I’m right there with you.

  • EnderWiggin

    Possible 50 berger.

  • Jack Lacan

    Bartender!!!

  • BuddhaJoe

RIP Bears. This ain’t Papa Bear’s team, not by a long shot. They’ll be lucky to win a game.

  • AlbertInTucson

You know its bad even if the play-by-play guy ISN’T chuckling a bit as he makes the call.

  • Jack Lacan

Ryan Pace has a jarhead haircut.

    • BearDown100393

      So did Forrest Gump.

  • BearDown100393

The Bears are not worse than Cleveland…..

    • Johnnywad

      Fuck they’re not.

      • BearDown100393

We took’em in the 4th game of preseason!

        • Johnnywad

          Oh yeah. Forgot.

        • SC Dave

You’re killing me dude. Keep on rolling.. the only reaaon to smile the whole game.

Well, except sardonically as we get jobbed yet again by the refs.

    • Yes, we are much much worse.

At least CLE took MIA to the brink.

    • BuddhaJoe

      Sure about that?

      • BearDown100393

I’d bet the careers of Langford and Floyd on it.

        • BuddhaJoe

Fuck me with a jagged rock, I’d take that bet right now. Fuck.

    • ButtonShoes

      Not this year, so far.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

The browns are worse than the Bears for about another hour and half.

  • Freddy G.P. Soft

I’m going to bed. No purpose in watching any more. And by any more, I think I mean this season.

    • Sauron’s right eyeball

The ghost of Dick Jauron has returned. This team is going to be very bad all year long.

      • Johnnywad

Dick Jauron once went to the playoffs

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

This is true. There is hope.

        • chitownproud85

That ’01 team was equal parts awesome and hilarious. Ted Washington? Keith Traylor? Zoom? The “:A Train”? JIM FUCKING MILLER? Lol@Dez White and David Terrell. Goodness, the memories. Mike fucking Brown, man. Fuck.

          • SC Dave

It was quite a ride that year.

      • BearDown100393

        • Sauron’s right eyeball

          ouch!

  • Bears keep trying to run it outside.

    Why?

    • BearDown100393

      To stop the clock….

    • Johnnywad

      To make me watch baseball

  • Johnnywad

If Loggains gets on the plane back to Chicago, I’m out.

  • SC Dave

We, tonight I finally came up with my theoretical explanation for all the years of getting jobbed by the refs.

No, not some crap from Halas in the dark past.

    Its the Super Bowl Shuffle.

  • That pass should’ve been caught.

    Perfect pass.

    • PaceBot 2000

I can’t even tell when you’re kidding anymore.

      • It was. Hit his hands right in stride.

Somehow, White lost it while getting hurt.

        • PaceBot 2000

Haha, he had to lay out for a simple slant.

          Lay. Out.

  • BillW

I was optimistic that the offense would show something more. Still might . Decent fg drive.

I’m done rooting for a meltdown like I did with trestman. I have to think they can get a good OC next year. Pace hopefully will stop being cute and draft solid players.

It’s far from hopeless. This year fell apart so suddenly that they need to reflect hard

    • BearDown100393

Good OCs will be lining up for a chance to work with this coaching staff.

    • They should’ve got a good OC THIS year.

      Screw “consistency”

But, no one at Halas listens to old butch.

  • Johnnywad

They are going to run the ball the rest of the half. Elliott is going to take the rest of their lunch.

    • BearDown100393

      Elliott is going to fumble.

      • AlbertInTucson

Maybe that’s why he wasn’t in on those goal line attempts.

  • BillW

Big night for David Ross. Last regular season home game. Ovations every at bat. Then he was taken out in the 7th so he could get another ovation

Whether they win the WS or not, it’s good to watch a team that was dedicated to building right

    • BearDown100393

If the Cubs were the Bears, Mike Quade would still be manager.

    • AlbertInTucson

Got to hand it to Theo. Among other things, He saw something in Rizzo the Padres missed.

      • BearDown100393

That might have been Jed Hoyer.

  • AlbertInTucson

A Tom Brady comparison for Prescott (No INTs thru first 90 attempst).

    Again, SOOO Bears.

    • willbest

Wentz is up to 100 something

  • BuddhaJoe

    So you’re telling me there’s a chance?

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

So how was John Fox a good hire? After our OC flew the coop after 1 year, why did we not replace him with a better OC than Loggains. Unbelievable. We let our guard down again and got sucker punched again. smh

  • PaceBot 2000

Did you see how fucking opens Williams was?

    • Johnnywad

Did you see AJ and White? And Hoyer slides for two.

  • Jack Lacan

Collinsworth with a roller derby reference.
Worth turning the sound on for the stand-up.

  • Let the comeback begin!
    Amos is no Deon though

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

Didn’t Jeff say he wouldn’t be surprised if the Bears won? hahahahaha Gotta love his positiveness.

  • wreckinball

Now they are wondering if they miss Forte

  • As crazy as it is, if we score a TD here, we’re only two TDs down.

  • BearDown100393

    “Backup quarterbacks. They suck.”
Uh Twitter Guy, you insisted that Brian Hoyer was different because of his fantastic camp.

  • I told you guys Miller would be more involved now with Hoyer.

    • PaceBot 2000

It’s absurd that he wasn’t targeted more in game 1 and 2 but what do I know….or Royal for that matter.

    • BuddhaJoe

Should’ve been doing that a long time ago.

  • BuddhaJoe

Damn it I was gonna go to bed and they’re giving me just enough hope. Not sure what to do.

  • White did not outrun his guy.
I don’t trust BirdCage in redzone.

    • AlbertInTucson

Or anywhere else, for that matter.

  • wreckinball

Ok just score a fucking TD

  • madscout12

8.5 min to 21.5 min of TOP in the 1st half and foxy blames the D

  • AlbertInTucson

So , Claiborne has a handful of our #1 receiver’s jersey and no call.

    Bad teams get no calls.

    • madscout12

He let it go and grabbed it again

      • AlbertInTucson

Oh, well THAT makes it ok.

        • madscout12

          No…just more obvious.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

It’s time to find a glass of water and get some shut eye. Goodnight my brethren.

  • Onside again!

      • T’Challa

That was a phantom offsides call earlier.

  • T’Challa

In the next offseason, please try Long at LT and draft a RT in the first two rounds. PLease.

    • AlbertInTucson

Long is a guard. They already tried the “Long at tackle” experiment.

      • T’Challa

Leno and Massie are bench warmers but they somehow are playing OT. If Grasu is any good at C, what do you do with Whitehair next year? Play your best lineman.

    • AlbertInTucson

Because we legislate rules to help the offense, not the defense.

      • madscout12

Isn’t the only loss of down penalty grounding? You know…the penalty that’s never called and the QB has 1000 ways to avoid it.

Defensive PI should not should not be a “Spot Foul”.

  • PaceBot 2000

I almosr thought we still had Olsen

  • BuddhaJoe

Whether or not you hate Cutler they gotta fix the line. Nobody will do well until they can block and run. Hoyer sucks so that was expected but they need to fire Loggains and and get some OTs before they can expect anybody to succeed.

    • BearDown100393

Twitter Guy is shocked at Brian Hoyer.

    • SC Dave

Read how stupid your comment is.

Cutler cant play because the line sucks, but Hoyer does as well or better behind the same line and its because he sucks

      • BuddhaJoe

Uh he did even worse so not sure what you’re talking about.

        • chitownproud85

…what part of what Hoyer did was “worse” than anything Jay has done so far this year? Good god almighty man. The only reason the first two games were even games for as long as they were was because the defense wasnt in the wheel chair olympics yet.

          • madscout12

We had a lead in both games Cutty played in…so there’s that.

          • chitownproud85

We scored less than 30 points in 2 games. Math says our offense was still shit.

          • SC Dave

And in those games, the opponents had how many points in tje first half?

          • chitownproud85

            Winner winner, chicken dinner.

          • madscout12

We had 8.5 min of time of possession in the 1ST half. We ran 6 plays out first two drives.

          • chitownproud85

So…we arent arguing that Cutler provides a BETTER option than Hoyer..we are suggesting hes just the slightly less shit option? And again – this aint Cutty hate. This is me saying I’m tired of people saying “dis ere wood be difrent ef jay cutter werz playern.” We have been losing either way.

          • madscout12

And I’m saying you don’t lose a healthy Cutler until you have a better option. We haven’t yet had a better option and we have a ton of holes.

          • chitownproud85

Agree 10,000%. I’m in no way saying toss him overboard. I’m saying we fucking suck either way.

We. fucking. suck. either. way. Cutler. Hoyer. The ghost of Jim Miller’s football body. Doesnt matter. Suuuuuuuuck.

          • madscout12

            Fine…play kids.

I just can’t stand the “it’s all Cutler” garbage. There isn’t a qb out there that can succeed with this play caller, this oline, this running game, and these pass catchers.

          • chitownproud85

Who is saying its all Cuter? Dafuq you talkin, brah? Saying Cutty wouldnt be the difference between winning and losing these games isnt blaming Cutler. Its saying it doesnt make a goddamned difference at this point. He started the last two games, we lost. Hoyer started tonight, and guess what? We lost. We good?

          • madscout12

            Please. Please.

The national narrative is that he’s a loser. The Chicago media is the same. You wouldn’t be the first to echo it.

          • BuddhaJoe

Him pulling shit out of his ass was the only reason this team was doing anything. This SHOULD’VE been proof of that but as usual it wasn’t.

          • SC Dave

Lol… go get in a circle with yonny

          • BuddhaJoe

And get ready for the 20 year carousel again when they listen to folks like you and we’re back to the 90’s again.

        • SC Dave

Are you still watching? I would suspect not

  • chitownproud85

So…next week we start that rookie we signed because why the fuck not?

Thats where I’m at now. Does it make a difference? Does it? Do you need to see this episode again? Does Jay Cutler make you feel that much better? Do you prefer your losing to be a little less lopsided? Just start signing kids and giving them each a one game tryout and see what the fuck happens.

This is where I am folks. I’m not on the ledge because there is no ledge. I’m on the bottom of the hill, dusting myself off, and searching for the nearest beer.

    • BearDown100393

Matt Barkley is not a rookie.

      • chitownproud85

Whoops. Let me rephrase for Beardown100393 – That kid we signed that might as well be a rookie because who the fuck knows that Matt Barkley has been around and/or started.

        We good?

        • BearDown100393

          Perfect!

    • BerwynBomber

There should be some serious discussion about shutting Long down for the year if he is as injured as suspected.

      • BearDown100393

Might as well before he becomes the Monty Python knight.

    • SC Dave

Are you nuts? Hoyer has been the best QB this season

      • I seriously don’t think Jeff and the other Cutlerites are capable of actually seeing good in other QBs.

        Cutler goggles.

        • willbest

Excluding garbage time who is better

          • PaceBot 2000

Garbage time only applies to Cutler. You know that.

          • Cutty was king of garbage, so THIS year Hoyer has looked sharper.

But it’s only 1 game, and Cutler may or may not have had a bum thumb that affected his play longer than we suspected.

Who has taken less sacks, had better completion % and hasn’t thrown any INTs so far?

          • willbest

Well its hard to judge because we had something that sort of looked healthy on defense the first 6 quarters of football. But the game wasn’t over at the half when Cutler was in.

          • Neither was this one.

We were only 2 scores behind with plenty of time.

We get the onside, who knows?

The defense has just looked horrendous.

          • willbest

You are misremembering it was 24-3 at the half.

          • Yes, but then the Bears got it to 2 scores.

That first half was just birdcage shit.

He finally loosened up his asshole in the 2nd half.

      • chitownproud85

What part of what I said makes you think I’m suggesting anything about anyone? lol. We lose regardless of who starts, so sign some kids and have some fun.

It was supposed to be sort of..funny…but I can see how the humor in such a post could be missed.

  • T’Challa

Send White on a couple of go routes a game and things might open up a little bit for the offense.

    • White already dropped two he should’ve caught.

      • T’Challa

Yes he did. But now Jeffery and Miller are getting open.

        • willbest

Jeffrey has been open Hoyer just wasn’t throwing at him

          • Hoyer doesn’t just zero in on him like Cutler, while taking unnecessary sacks or throwing pics.

          • willbest

No he slides for 2 yards

          • better than strip sack, or killer INT to LB

          • Jack Lacan

            Dak don’t slide.

          • T’Challa

Well, that’s a problem. “Not throwing to your best receiver who is open.”

    • BearDown100393

      He doesn’t know any.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

So he can drop them, or Hoyer can throw it out of bounds?

  • Miller time!

  • RenoBear

Sooooo… White can’t catch. At all. YAY!

  • AlbertInTucson

Claiborne shoving White out of bounds and not looking back. That is PI.

  • SC Dave

    Way to go, Brian

  • AlbertInTucson

    Don’t blow kisses! Please.

    • BearDown100393

Miller confused his TD for a concussion protocol test.

  • BearDown100393

Alshon must be one legged again. Or this is all just auditioning White.

    • You could tell on that screen to Alshon earlier he was half-speed.

Normally he takes that 20 yds, but he looked gimpy.

Don’t know what’s worse, a gimpy Alshon or a buttafinger White.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Hoyer for Mayor!

    • BearDown100393

      of McDonald land?

    • BerwynBomber

Too bad Lovie is not around to offer him a big payday.

  • Johnnywad

So that drive looks like somebody actually has a swinging dick. Is this staff just afraid to play aggressively until it’s too god damn late? I don’t get it.

    • BearDown100393

      #BirdCage

    • They were throwing deep for once, against a prevent.

      reverse psychology?

      Birdcage #bottom

      • SC Dave

        Was Dallas rushing 3?

    • willbest

It looks like the cowboys are playing to not lose now.

  • Johnnywad

If I were playing defense for the Bears tonight, I’d take the penalty and cheap shot the hell out of Elliott. He’s a douche bag. Keep running that spoon in your mouth asshole. You’re running against half a squad.

    • BearDown100393

      Sign Brandon Meriweather.

    • SC Dave

      Cunt. He is a cunt

    • AlbertInTucson

The “Cris Carter 1st Down” move is crapola.

As a fan you say that, as a player your paycheck is going to be short a car the following week.

I can’t wait for Young to get an $18k hit for throwing Dak down, and the boys not get fined for yanking his helmet off.

  • Jack Lacan

Collinsworth talks about the onside kick like it’s revisionist history.

    • T’Challa

Had the refs not made that phantom call of offsides, this game might be looking a lot differently.

      • SC Dave

This. The story of the game

        this got an LoL. Cheers

  • AlbertInTucson

    Another shitty spot.

  • Huge Bears Penis

    That a boy White!

If White builds on this I won’t be complaining when Wilson doesn’t replace him coming off PUP.

    • Johnnywad

Yep. Starting to show glimmers of being a receiver.

  • AlbertInTucson

Thought the strip sack was coming there.

  • T’Challa

Jordan Howard will be starting sooner rather than later.

    • willbest

By default since Langford won’t be back next week

      • T’Challa

          • T’Challa

Ouch! Can we catch a break?

          • willbest

yes, howard is starting now over the apparent objection of Birdcage and Fox.

  • That was a bad pass.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

    • willbest

If Hoyer was on your drawing board I can only assume you were sucking a tailpipe for a good 5-6 minutes

    • Huge Bears Penis

I posted the Suicide Hotline number earlier for them.

      • Johnnywad

Calling now. This blows. Wait all year for this and we get another fucking shit sandwich. Meanwhile, teams like Philly shit can the whole thing, hire a new staff, jump up and grab Wentz and off they go. WTF? Fuck this.

        • willbest

They didn’t just grab him. They had to make 2 trades on their way to the #2 pick and hope the 49ers also fucked up. Plus somebody hired a GM/coach that knew what they were doing.

          • Johnnywad

            Like I said. Jumped up

  • BuddhaJoe

It was all Cutty’s fault. Prescott would’ve done great with that line and running game

    • madscout12

      It was.

    • BearDown100393

      He really sucked tonight.

The Loins have no fear of Soldier Field.

The Bears won’t put the kind of pressure on Luck that everybody else does

and the the Bears will be exactly what the Jags need to right THEIR ship.

That thud you heard was the bottom of the barrel.

          The Bears new home.

          The BROWNS look more competitive.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

      WHAT?

We are the worst team in the NFL.

  • I don’t think it mattered who the QB was this night, really.

But, I thought Hoyer looked sharp. Did he miss a few? yes? Did his WRs screw him on a few? Yes.

But White looked like a player finally, as did Miller and Howard.

Alshon also while obviously halfspeed, still had enough game for like 70 yds.

That’s something to build on going forward.

The D on the other hand, oof.

    There’s nothing promising there.

    • willbest

That is because of the 11 starters only 4 finished the game.

      • Huge Bears Penis

not to mention the starters that were playing only because of the injuries from last week.

        • willbest

I am convinced that Vic hits each of them in the knee with a crowbar to begin each game to build character.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

      WHAT????????????

      Kevin was TERRIBLE !!!

  • AlbertInTucson

Shoot Out The Lights – Richard Thompson

  • AlbertInTucson

    Still time for that INT…

  • madscout12

Howard couldnt believe he got the dump off

  • AlbertInTucson

    Correct spot?

  • Johnnywad

Middle of the field, short? Nice touch.

  • Well, that is the bad Hoyer I mentioned b4 too.
When behind, he’ll only take the obvious dump down.

    • willbest

Awesome, so all we need is a stout D to keep things close and we can use Hoyer. That shouldn’t be too hard to come across.

      • madscout12

And we can just go get a QB off the street, play him (or her, why the fuck not) and that will solve things.

        • willbest

The first female combat soldier in the British military is an MTF

        • chitownproud85

The result would likely be the same…still losing. Margin might be closer though πŸ™‚

          • madscout12

Yeah. Closer like this one. 24-3 at the half. 8.5 min time of possession in the half.

          • chitownproud85

You win, partner. I’m officially convinced tonight would have been different if our quarterback had been different. And by different, I’m referring to the margin of defeat, not the actual outcome. Cheers.

      • I think I wrote in Hoyer’s profile that he was ‘constitutionally incapable of taking big chances’ esp when coming from behind.

The payoff is that he doesn’t usu throw boneheaded INTs.

But hey, Alex Smith wins some games in Kansas playing the same style.

Hoyer is like a poor man’s Alex Smith.

Hoyer was essentially playing from behind the whole game.

Once Howard got in though, things started changing.

        • BearDown100393

          Real poor

        • A7Xthebest

It’s an actually fact that Alex Smith has never won a game in Kansas in his professional career.

    • AlbertInTucson

He made some nice throws that were dropped. Claiborne was allowed to mug White. Excuses but also facts.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

I wish he WOULD take the obvious dump-off. He was ignoring Howard in the flats and forcing it deep to White who can’t catch footballs.

  • PaceBot 2000

    Lol, stop it

  • madscout12

Nobody launches it out of the end zone like hoyer. Nobody

    • PaceBot 2000

      Lol

  • willbest

WTF? When did Jeff warn us about Hoyer?

    • I didn’t know Hoyer let Zeke run for 140, and what could’ve easily been 3 TDs.

      • willbest

You just angry that your backup isn’t appreciably better than the starter having to gorilla grip the ball because he has a sprained thumb.

        • I never said Hoyer was BETTER than Cutler.

But he doesn’t look worse, does he?

          And he’s cheaper.

Maybe Hoyer is the cheap “bridge” QB we need when we draft a franchise QB.

          • willbest

Well Cutler’s entire salary is guaranteed for this year. And if you are drafting a starting QB its this off season. So there is no bridge QB

          • madscout12

            Um…he did look worse.

          • You think Hoyer looked worse the Cutler THIS year?

I must have watched a different game.

          • BearDown100393

            It is a tie

          • PaceBot 2000

Lol is he your cousin? If cuty plays that exact same game people are going crazy on social media. The words garbage time would be used for every pass and the passes sAiled 10 yards out of play would be blown apart.

            This was over at half.

          • chitownproud85

“Lol is he your cousin?” – lawlzzz

          • I just want the Bears to win, and Hoyer gives them a better chance.

            Simple as that.

I also think it’s time to move on from Cutler, so why not use Hoyer as bridge QB? I’m no fan of Hoyer, nor do I think we can win a SB with him, but obviously we’re nowhere close to a SB, and the QB who turns it over less and completes it more might just might be a better option.

Sure, he won’t make those 60 yd bombs into triple coverage, but so be it.

          • PaceBot 2000

And on that note I’m out. It is INSANE to think Hoyer gives our team the best chance to win. I’m going to bed and when I wake up I want your post deleted. You don’t deserve any blowjobs this week. You are on penalty.

          • I think Hoyer does, this year, and maybe going forward.

Either Cutler reverted back to diabates Cutty, which I’m def not gonna live through again.
Or his thumb is too fucked up for him to play well.

Either way, he looked ultra shitty THIS season, and Hoyer in my eyes has looked better.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

            HE’S FUCKING TERRIBLE!!!!

      • madscout12

Easy to do that when you’re on the field for 21.5 min in the half.

        • chitownproud85

One of the first thing Collinsworth brought up in the broadcast was the fact that the Bears were last in time of possession over the first two games. So in your mind, that doesnt count, and time of possession in the first half of this game is the only statistic we are using to judge. Gotcha. I’m on it.

          • madscout12

8.5 min, dude. 6 plays in 2 drives. 24-3. He. Was. Worse.

            I’m hoping that helped clarify.

          • So which team should Hoyer do better against for his stats to count?

          • willbest

How about he does something before down 3 scores.

          • The first two drives were his fault?

            Didn’t seem like it.

One of them got killed with a holding penalty.

By the time he got it a 3rd time, they were already down.

When will our D actually stop someone to give him a chance to score before he’s down?

I don’t see that anytime soon.

And coming out like zombies goes all the way back to last year, with yes, Cutler.

          • SC Dave

FUCKING STOP with your Cutler defense. There are probably 20 games, or more, in the past four seasons where Cutler-led offenses started with two 3 and outs.

  • AlbertInTucson

Its never too soon for dark humor. See the pic Jeff used? Though it aptly describes what happened to the bears season. Death by birdcage.

          • SC Dave

It’s always weird for me to be doing a thumbs up about someone that died, even when it is a reference to a fine epitaph or tribute.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Thx.

” None of the deceased was wearing a life vest.”

Though it also says Fernandez died from “Trauma”, not “drowning”.

  • Biggest story to me is that, for the 3rd week in a row, the Bears lost at the LOS on both sides of the ball.

You win in the trenches. Everybody talks about the sexy fast guys, but you win with the big uglies. Bears can’t do that.

Pass protection was much better tonight (shitty DAL DL + dink and dunk O helps there), but no hint of a run game. They broke 2 long runs and were completely bottled up besides that.

And still nothing resembling a pass rush. For the 3rd straight game. Plus with Goldman out and 4-3 3T Will Sutton miscast as a 3-4 NT they couldn’t contain the run to save their lives.

    • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

No hint of a run game … until Jordan Howard you mean.

      • He had one big play and was completely shut down outside of that.

        Same thing for Langford.

No hint of a consistent run game that kept them ahead of the chains, or even with them for that matter.

  • MB30SD

I actually thought Hoyer looked ok in the 2nd.

White showing something finally. 33 AND 24 looking strong when they get a gap. Freeman is a beeeeaaast.

Oh, and royal and miller are good when the ball comes their way

    • he neutered the offense with too much short stuff until the game was over, then opened it up in garbage time to pad the stats.

That’s the Alex Smith playbook. Play ultra conservative so you don’t turn it over, don’t worry about O production. Works well to pad your stats and keep you competitive with a strong defense, but that’s about it.

      • SC Dave

Getting jobbed on the 2nd quarter onside, while at the time just sucked, may have been the deciding factor in the game.

      • MB30SD

        I’d take Alex smith

      • But was he throwing the short stuff by design?

        That’s the question.

Hoyer is Alex Smith-lite, but that can work on O IF the OC isn’t a complete bottom.

Not turning it over and completing passes to various weapons can work.

        • they need a balance between the first two games (everything slow developing) and this game (everything short). Mix it up. Lots of short stuff, but take some shots too. Bears took no shots tonight until game was over in the 4th.

          • SC Dave

I guess the real question is can Hoyer get rid of the ball soon enough to make longer plays work. It seems there is a VERY fine line between holding the ball too long and waiting long enough for the deep route to develop.

Jay has been inconsistent in that so far as I can tell. Hoyer? Not enough samples to make a guess.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

HE CAN’T FUCKING HIT DEEP ROUTES!!!!

Watch a game sober and tell me Hoyer is anything other than a fucking woeful QB. It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen a QB as inaccurate. He’s terrible

    • willbest

Its good to have a QB that can play a nice scrimmage after the game unofficially ends but the network needs the full game.

      • SC Dave

Oh come on… once it was 31-17, we actually could have tied or won. To pretend Dallas did not care discredits Hoyer unfairly.

I predict that the offense will look better under Hoyer than Cutler. Mark it, and make fun of me if I’m wrong. But I don’t think I will be.

        • MB30SD

I kinda might just possibly have to agree with you dave. I’m over curry. Let’s get a while in the 1st next year. Who’s with me???

        • Hey, I’m with you, Dave.

Sounds ridiculous, but Hoyer thus far has looked better than Cutler.

Miller and White suddenly flash. What a coincidence.

And Hoyer could’ve looked much better if not for at least 4 drops.

        • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

Hoyer discredits Hoyer .. by his sheer crap-ness.

    • SC Dave

Freeman is our best player, I think. At least on the defense.

      • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

        Zeke hurdling him was hilarious.

    • Langford seemingly with a serious ankle/achilles injury, depending on who you ask, means his days as the starting RB are probably over. Addition by subtraction, IMO.

      • SC Dave

So glad we let Forte go for him.

At least we have Howard. Start him now.

        • MB30SD

          Me too, it was time

        • Regardless of Langford’s success or lack thereof, I still hold letting Forte go was the right move. Forte is winding down, doesn’t fit where this team is headed then. Use this year to figure out what you have in the young guys. Answer as many questions as you can.

Which is why I’m pissed Chris Prosinski played the whole 2nd half of a blowout L after HJQ got hurt instead of Deon Bush.

          • chitownproud85

Kept waiting for DB to enter the game…but no. Maybe hes still too far away? But seriously…its not like he could be much worse. Why the hell not?

          • if you’re gonna play somebody who sucks (Prosinski certainly qualifies), play a rookie you just invested a mid-round pick in and let him learn on the job.

At the very least, use the opportunity to figure out a bit more if he’s gonna be part of your future or not.

          • This coaching staff is entirely erratic. They seem to lack any philo and make shit up as they go along.

They had no qualms starting Amos, Goldman and Langford last season, or Floyd, Bullard this year, but then they hesitate to start Howard or other young players we need to evaluate.

          • MB30SD

            Wtf happened to Bullard btw??!

            I’ve read he’s a great water skier.

  • willbest

Perhaps I am just not understanding your insanity Butch. By bridge QB you mean somebody who plays out the 2017 season so we can fire Pox and bring in a new GM/coach to draft and develop a QB from the 2018 draft.

As for this season you play Cutler if healthy. The end. Doing anything else is stupid. You need him to have trade value because right now you are cutting him. That is a waste of a fucking asset.

    • BerwynBomber

I agree you play Cutty but I can also see the twisted logic of competitive tanking for a higher pick even if I’m against it and it probably only works in basketball. Well, except for suck for Luck.

But they will be absolute morons if they don’t draft a QB this next draft. Hell, I’d take one in ’17 and ’18 at this point.

      • willbest

Somebody in Halas needs to steal the Pats philosophy book on QB drafting.

  • MB30SD

D was horrible tonight. No other way to cut it.

    200 yards rushing????

Hoyer was meh but he was also what I expected. Starting to wonder if this coaching staff has shown us their best.

    • Johnnywad

Goldman and Trevathan were sorely missed.

      • SC Dave

More Goldman IMO. Freeman >> Trevathan.

        • Johnnywad

Not sure it’s a matter of which of those two is better. The drop off from Trevathan to Some dude I didn’t know is still a Bear after camp is pretty steep.

          • SC Dave

Point taken. I think it was Christian Jones mainly.

          • Kwiatkowski started, Jones in nickel. Which was weird, because Jones sucks something awful in pass coverage. And the 1st half saw him matched up 1-on-1 with a WR multiple times.

          • That was extremely idiotic. Esp since Kwiatowski was a former Safety, right? So he should have better coverage skills.

            Sometimes these coaches baffle me.

          • SC Dave

            Just… wow

      • Our Dline is just getting pushed around. We have no studs on the Dline, and little depth.

Unrein might make a badass FB, but he in no universe should be starting.

No secret formula. Win in the trenches.

We’re losing that war, and on D it’s like the Germans over running the French trenches.

    • BearDown100393

It was horrible yet some want Fox and #BirdCage fired with Fangio as the interim HC. Uh why?

      • willbest

Because at least Vic has the excuse that he is missing 7 starters. I have it on good authority that the best QB on our roster started on O tonight.

        • BerwynBomber

Oh please. Don’t give us that. No one claimed Hoyer was better than Cutty. No Cutty the martyr act tonight. Had enough of that over the years and there is steady diet of it in Blogfather’s tweets.

Cutty’s better than Hoyer. It’s not a newsflash. And Cutty’s only average himself. It’s just that Hoyer is bellow average. Which is why he is a backup

          • SC Dave

I’m not yet convinced. Hoyer has had ONE start for the Bears, right?

          • BerwynBomber

Hoyer performed how I expected. The McCown stuff a few years back was perfect storm type stuff.

          • Johnnywad

Hoyer missed a lot of throws Cutty makes in his sleep. He just didn’t throw an INT. That doesn’t do it for me.

          • SC Dave

Except Cutler is not sleeping on the field.

Edit: Though I expect arguments to the contrary πŸ™‚

          • Johnnywad

            LOL. True.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

The last pass of the night should have been picked off.

          • willbest

Both Butch and Dave have taken the position that Hoyer is better than Cutter, at the very least, in the Bears offense. So, yeah, I am going to make the comment that the best offensive performance the Bears have to offer was made tonight, and it managed 17 points against a crappy Dallas defense, 14 of which came after the game was lost.

And ideally I would fire all of them, but its not like there are coaches off the street that would sign up for this mess and do it better. So if you are firing somebody has to be the interuim head coach. I guess it could be Jeff Rodgers (STC)

          • BerwynBomber

Well, Butch and Dave are nuts if they said that. Cutty’s the better QB. But Cutty is not a guy to build a team around. That’s mindless. And a dumb plan.

And no, we don’t fire coaches in mid-season. Play it out. See what happens. But in the off-season? Major housecleaning.

          • I think thus far, Hoyer has “outshined” Cutler.

I think it’s safe to assume Hoyer will get sacked less, and throw less INTs than Cutty.

Will that matter if our D gives up 10 min drives that end in points every possesion?

            No.

But I say let Hoyer play out the string. If we lose, it’ll only make it that much easier to draft a new franchise QB.

If Cutler had a healthy thumb (and Gase), maybe it’s different.

            But neither are true.

          • willbest

So you would rather cut Cutler than salvage him from trade value. brilliant.

          • SC Dave

You seemed fine with that for Forte.

          • willbest

Forte didn’t have anything on his contract, there was no value to be had.

          • Cutler’s gonna play no matter what.

            Let’s be real.

But who’s gonna want him? lol

If we can get a 1st for Cutty THIS season and ride with Hoyer, wouldn’t you take that?

          • willbest

Is Pox around to spend it? Cause if they are, I fail to see what good it will do either way.

          • But wouldn’t you take a 1st for Cutler right now? Regardless?

At least an extra 1st might be able to tempt another top GM/Coach duo either way.

          • willbest

Depends on who it is going to, somebody that is going to finish around 15-16 perhaps. Somebody that is going to finish 20+ nope (people on their way to top 10 picks aren’t trading for Cutler).

          • BerwynBomber

            In a heartbeat.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

            HE’S FUCKING TERRIBLE!!!!

          • SC Dave

Actually, I have not. Hoyer has had one game, and tonight, he did no
worse than the typical Cutler performance. Hoyer will have a couple
more starts before Jay comes back.

Just see how it plays out. You “Cutler is way better, Hoyer sucks” types are the ones running off with no evidence, not Butch and I.

          • BerwynBomber

Look, you KNOW, i’m no huge fan of Cutler. Andrew coming on last Tuesday and telling us he played well and “was incredibly accurate” against PHI was a fucking joke. (Cutty was lucky he wasn’t picked off three times in that game before he left.)
But the guy can make more plays than Hoyer. Now does Hoyer protect the ball better. Maybe. And in terms of efficiency ratings there is not a huge difference, but Cutler is a little better. You just have a lot of folks on here that waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overvalue him and want to search for any excuse they can find.

          • willbest

The Bears are awful across the board. It makes zero sense to single him out. As if somehow it will magically be better. Its almost like Cutler has just enough skill to give you hope, and that is apparently not what you need. Because with Hoyer you get to expect the shit show and be surprised with a decent performance where Cutler you expect a decent performance and get all moody when you get the shit show.

And maybe no hope is the best thing because our list for next season so far is:

CBsx2, DEsx2, a bona fide pass rusher, a TE, two tackles, a QB, and possibly a safety. They aren’t going to compete next year either with the list that long.

          • BerwynBomber

It’s NOT singling him out. It’s the fact that we didn’t attempt to draft and develop a guy. Cutty, at best, should have been a bridge.

What was the plan here? We were gonna build a three or four year incredible team around Jay Cutler?

          • willbest

I didn’t tell Pace not to draft a QB. The dude didn’t even go out and get a developmental guy. At least Emery did that.

I actually don’t understand the league’s obsession with Mark Sanchez/Brian Hoyers of the world. Guys that will lose for you gracefully. Dak is the way to go. Draft your developmental guy and make him your backup, if he gets his shot its sink or swim, and then you know. If there is something to build on keep him around, if not go fishing. Jerry did it right. You bring in Sanchez to back up your developmental guy in case he starts losing in embarrassing fashion.

          • I agree.

            Our 4rth rounder was Kwiatwoski
            There’s was Daq.

            End of story.

The cowboys actually lucked in to Daq though sense they wanted Conner, but hey, a team should keep drafting until they hit, esp if it’s midrounders.

Martz also tried to get developmental QBs, to his credit cuz he didn’t like Hainie.

          • BerwynBomber

Hoyer and Sanchez are cheap. If you know you are going to suck and you were developing a guy they save you cash which you can invest in other parts/positions.

Plus, they occasionally have years where they sniff that mid-tier level of efficiency.

I would have been for bringing in Sanchize after ’14 if we would have been able to dump Cutty. He was about 1/8th of Cutty’s salary and not far off in terms of efficiency/production.

Hoyer I”m more dubious of. I’ve never seen him do much but dink and dunk. Nor, of course, win a big game.

          • willbest

No you run with Cutler. You bet on Cutler. The Pats run with Brady and bet on Brady. They also back up Brady with developmental draft picks rather than established backups.

          • madscout12

I love how people like to say “don’t build a team around Cutler”. How about we just build a team.

          • BerwynBomber

Agreed and one of those positions is QB. So let’s build and develop a guy. What do you say?

          • madscout12

Cool. Better get an oline too while you’re at it. This one won’t cut it for even Russell Wilson.

          • willbest

I was thinking earlier that if the Bears had drafted Aaron Rodgers, and developed him under Turner he would be out of the league right now.

          • BerwynBomber

LOL. You are comparing Brady to Cutler??? You’ve lost your marbles.

Look, let me spell it out for you. EVEN NE doesn’t bet completely on Brady. That’s why you see all the Cassels, Hoyers, Malletts, Garrappolos, etc. They draft QBs. We don’t. We stick with Cutty. That’s it.

And Brady’s an HOFer. Cutty is a career average starter. Humungous difference and still NE thinks ahead of us. And shows their starter less “respect”.

          • willbest

I am comparing the situation of how you should behave when you have a legit starting QB. If Brian Hoyer is your QB, you bet the farm on the #1 draft pick and hope you get Luck or Wentz instead of RG3 or Bradford. If somebody like Cutler is your starting QB, you build up the other components of your team and draft prospects who might have it or not. But it doesn’t matter because you have a starter and Hoyer isn’t getting you anywhere even in his best year.

Also what it does when you do this is make you better. Darth Hoodie is good at developing backups because he spends a lot of time developing backups.

          • madscout12

You especially use this strategy when you lose in the trenches every God damn year.

          • willbest

exactly we can’t really afford to bet the farm on a QB because we need those picks for Ts DEs and DTs

          • willbest

And I don’t mean we shouldn’t draft a franchise QB if we are sitting there with the #1 pick next year. We should definitely do that, but if we finish 6-10 and are drafting 11 again… I don’t want Pox making that gamble.

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, but even beyond the “Cutty as the Franchise dreams, I think some of our GM have probably been fearful of another Cade McNown. Problem is, you just have to roll that dice sometime. And it’s not like we haven’t missed on a lot of other non-QB first rounders as well.
Anyway, I just think it would be wise to get someone in the first three rounds. Even if we keep Cutler.

          • willbest

I wouldn’t spend a first rounder on any QB I wasn’t planning on making my franchise guy from day 1. (caveat: trading up from the second into the late first. That guy can sit on the bench for a year a la Lynch).

I also wouldn’t start a guy I drafted below the second round. But they should have been picking up like say Connor Cook this year. Not that Birdcage is the person to develop a QB.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

Conor Shaw looks like a future-starter. He’s something. Fales is good too, but he’s a Raven..

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

            Win six games???? SIX? How?

          • BerwynBomber

All teams have holes. And if you hit on a QB he could be worth four or five positional starters easy.

          • willbest

Aaron Rodgers can solve the holes at tackle, he can’t solve the hole in birdcages head. The OC is just as important as the QB and we don’t draft those, so there is no excuse for not having a competent one.

          • BerwynBomber

Then you have learned absolutely nothing about what the Patriots and other successful teams do.

You draft QBs. Even if you have a franchise guy. And we do not have a franchise guy. You don’t sit pat with a 34 year old average starter. It’s mindless.

          • willbest

huh? I am saying we should have been doing what the Pats have done all along, which is draft Brady’s replacement every 2 years. Cutler has been in Chicago since 2009 and we have drafted 1 QB in that time when we should have drafted 3

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

But we never drafted Olin or Lac’s replacement. OUr G.M’s – including this one – have all been momos.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

Thing is Will, when any of us actually mention top draft positions, we get called out. You must lose to win that draft spot. Notre Dame have a couple of interesting guys in Zaire and Kizer. That guy Jackson that just scored 7 TDs .. .we have to be in the firing line to get a shit at them.

We will get that shot this year. Perhaps 2-14.

          • It’s also a KNOWN fact that QB is a huge determining factor in wins (why else would teams give up the farm for a SHOT at a franchise QB in drafts), so it makes sense that QB will be singled out no matter what.

And QBs who complete and don’t turn it over more tend to give teams better chances.

That’s just the way it is.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

Protect the ball better? He stripped himself of the ball tonight, and should also have been picked on multiple occasions against a bad defense.

          • SC Dave

“should have been picked…” is meaningless babble.

Bottom line is Hoyer completed 30 of 49 passes for 317 yards, 2 TD and was not sacked. Two fumbles, one lost.

          • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

He was fucking terrible Dave. Open people downfield ont eh sideline and he was throwing it out of bounds. I get that you don’t like Cutler, but don’t glorify a POS QB like Hoyer to prove it.

          • MB30SD

            Again… sigh

        • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

I think Barkley is better than Hoyer.

    • SC Dave

Okay… I’ll let you slide on this one. But it’s your Last chance! πŸ™‚

    • MB30SD

My god, dude can’t even hold down a shitty college position

  • SC Dave

Good night guys… I’ve already lost enough sleep over this damn team for tonight.

    • Well, as crazy as it seemed, Bears were still somehow in the game in the 2nd half.

So there you go SC. May Hoyer cherubs lull you to sleep…

      • SC Dave

        hahaha!!

I actually was still thinking we might somehow pull it out until the ground-caused fumble was called against us. But maybe someone can (in a later thread, for God’s sake!) explain the rule about when the ground can cause a fumble and when it cannot.

        • MB30SD

When it happens to our guy it can, when it happens to the team we’re playing, it cannot.

          Simple.

  • And in spite of all this, I’m still gonna watch the Bears next week.

    Jesus.

    I need an intervention.

    • BerwynBomber

DET’s a banged up mess too. Could be fun.

  • BerwynBomber

So, Bears aside, the big NFL takeaways today are:

    1) the MIN D is the real deal
    2) and so is Carson Wentz

Prescott and Semien aren’t doing poorly either.

    • I didn’t get a chance to see Semien too much today, but I saw he made both his WRs 100 yds today.

      That’s impressive.

I am veeeerry curious what the Cowboys will do once Romo returns after the bye.

They might be able to say he’s not quite fully healthy for a few games, but not the entire season.
He just got a big contract too. In some ways, they’re in the same spot we are with their QB.

      • BerwynBomber

Didn’t he break his back last year too? Said it earlier, but Romo is the Evel Knievel of the NFL. He was damn good for a number of years but just not good enough and a bit chokey.

I’m sure the dude wants a ring for his legacy but a lot of good NFL QBs never get one. I think it’s time for him to go.

        • MB30SD

          100%

Looked like one era beginning and another ending tonight… too bad we were so bad everywhere it has nothing to do with our team

          • MB30SD

I take that back. If you wanna crown freeman as the next good bears ILB (thank fuck finally), then crown his ass, cause he’s a beast

          • CanadaBear

He was everywhere. C. Jones was everywhere too (10 yds down the field).

        • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

+1000 blog points for Evel Knievel reference.

      • willbest

Heading into next year Romo will have $18 million of dead money on his contract if he is cut or traded. Worse than that the cowboys are currently 7 million of the expected cap for next year. Now that is with the assumption that the cap is going to jump $10 million, but given that ratings this season are down 8% its possible the cap might not go up that much.

Basically Romo is a Cowboy until 2018, and there isn’t anything they can do about it.

        Meanwhile, Cutler is an asset.

        • MB30SD

          Sit him

        • BerwynBomber

But as poorly backloaded as that thing was, is there much guaranteed money remaining? I assume they could restructure.

          • willbest

I am going to retract. He doesn’t have guarantees left, it turns out they were blaming prorated bonus games. And cutting or trading him wouldn’t be an issue because I forgot to offset his salary reduction on the cap vs. the dead money hit.

What he has is base salary and prorated bonus

            2017 – $14 mil + $10.7 prorated bonus
            2018 – $19.5 mil + $5.7 prorated bonus
            2019 – $20 mil + $3.2 prorated bonus

So they could cut/trade him 2017 and save $5 million in cap after dead money is figured in. It does not appear that his contract has any guaranteed for injury money left so they can play him this year if they need to.

So I guess it is very possible that Tony Romo may have already taken his last snap as a Cowboys. I still maintain he has no trade value because his injury history precludes anybody spending on him. Though maybe renting him for a year at $14 million could be worth the risk.

      • AlbertInTucson

Semien definitely showed he can throw it downfield.

        • Irish “PRESSURE” Sweetness

Unlike Hoyer who can’t hit an open receiver running free down a sidelien.A Absolutely terrible.

      • MB30SD

My cowboys fan buddy sweeeeaaars Romo is rhe starter again in 6 – 8 weeks.

I thunk that’s insanity if Dak keeps sling mike he is…. insanity.

        • AlbertInTucson

Remember, the COWBOYS will tell Romo “when he’s ready to return.”

          • BerwynBomber

Exactly. It’s usually Jerra who tells Romo when he should suit up. The only difference is this time, for the first time, Jerra won’t be putting Romo at risk.

8 Sacks for the Purple today but man, Cam’s “internal pocket clock” sucked.

      ESPECIALLY on the safety.

      • BerwynBomber

They made Cam look considerably worse than they did Rodgers. (And CAR had the benefit of playing at home.)

I’m starting to suspect the two top NFC HC’s in the coming years could be Zimmer and Pederson. Pederson is still way early and more of an early hunch. But Zimmer seems already there.

        • AlbertInTucson

I think Cam didn’t feel as much like taking off from the pocket after he hurt his leg today.

    • AlbertInTucson

Zero turnovers for Wentz, so far.

      Zero.

He played exactly PART of 1 exhibition game.

Doug Pederson deserves SOME of that premature Coach Of The Year love.

Prescott has taken care of the ball, as well.

  • AlbertInTucson

    “DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Lost a lot of faith in John Fox tonight. Team was horrible.”

Does not Fangio share some of that blame?

    • willbest

What can you do when you are missing you are missing 4 week 1 starters and a rotational pass rusher, two of your other starters started the season injured and have yet to suit up, and during the game you lose a safety, and two people on your D-line?

You can’t scheme that many holes away.

      • AlbertInTucson

Demonstrate why people anoint you as a defensive “genius”.

Not keep demonstrating the definition of insanity which is “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result”.

    Brian Hoyer. I warned you.”

    The Bears stink

    WE warned YOU.

  • CanadaBear

Well that sucks. Killed on both sides of the line. Really some sad stuff. Hoyer isn’t the answer or the problem. There is so little talent on this team it’s crazy. The pass rush is non-existent. The first rd pick was invisible tonight and last year’s first rd pick is so bad that tonight’s performance is reason for optimism. FUCK! Gonna be a long year gents.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Correction: ANOTHER “…long year,gents.”

      • willbest

I don’t know, last year felt promising, ship righted, trending upwards. Competitive, no quit until maybe the last week where losing was preferred for draft pick anyway.

This is shaping up worse than 2014, and I say that because at least by this point in 2014 there was the close loss to Buffalo, but we then went on to an amazing win in San Fran (people hadn’t discovered they completely sucked yet), and a good MNF win against the Jets.

It wasn’t until the week 7 loss in Miami (which I was at) and Marshall going nuts in the locker room that the wheels fell off.

        • BerwynBomber

2014 felt especially bad because we almost made the playoffs in ’13. In fact, we were less than a minute away.

I don’t think this year will get that ugly but I do wonder if it will offer as much closure; i.e., we knew everything was going to blown up after ’14. Not sure we’ll know that this time.

  • EnderWiggin

Here’s an interesting tidbit for ya. Guess when the last time the Bears went 0-3?

    • willbest

I want to say 2004 because we drafted CDunk at #4 in 2005. And 0-3 sounds like a great way to get the #4 pick.

ed. I looked it up. I won’t spoil.

28 year old Stafford will seem positively middle-aged after these first few weeks.

  • willbest

Incidentally, it wouldn’t surprise me if the reason Fox took the Job is because Pace was planning on keeping Cutler. It makes it easier to phone it in if you don’t have to develop a QB.

  • A7Xthebest

OC leaves, Bears go cheap and promote an underqualified from within, and play of the offense regresses. How many times are we going to go through this?

I think the frustrating thing we all know is that there was a point in time when we felt like we could win a Super Bowl with Cutler. The stars didn’t align in those couple of years that we had(Be it injury of said QB, dogshit receiver play, horrific offensive line).

I’m pretty surprised at the negative reviews Fox is getting. This is a very heavily overturned roster without a huge pool of talent to begin with and on top of that they are decimated with injuries already. I have to say, I’m actually encouraged by how much our defense fights despite being drastically outtalented vs almost every opponent.

  • Sauron’s right eyeball

Fox’s trend of sporting a competitive feisty team in his 2nd year with a new team has been shattered. Someone lied, the Bears died.

  • Dbear

Okay. Last year I was criticized for saying the Bears needed to look past Cutler and to draft a quarterback. Two rookie quarterbacks made the Bears look like the Eagles and Cowboys were playing Northwestern. Can we move on and plan a team for 2018 built on a draft for the future in 2017. Go ahead Cutler lovers – explain what I’m missing.

    • willbest

Logic apparently. Look you want to move past Cutler that is fine. But Cutler meets that minimum threshold of QB that says “At least we don’t give up”. Hoyer says “we give up and will be boring”.

As for drafting QBs what on earth have you seen the last 3 games that leads you to believe that Fox/Birdcage would have any earthly idea how to develop a QB even if Pace had the audacity to move to draft Wentz or just the insight to pick up Dak before everybody else did. This crew would fuck up Aaron Rodgers.

      lastly, this thread is dead.
