    Don’t Caaare! Go Bears.

  • Joecashflow

Looks a wee bit vintage, like the Beloved D I remember.

  • FourFeathers

Big fan of the direction the Bears are headed under Pace and Fox, but damned a need a team to semi root for this season. I can’t find one. It almost has to be an AFC team. But I immensely dislike New England and Denver. Cincinnati crashes and burns every single post season and there is little about that team that I like a whole lot. Can’t get into NY Jets. Might have hopped on Indy bandwagon but they are a mess. Which brings me back to the NFC. It’s heresy, but Green Bay is the least objectionable team I can find. So yes, part of me roots for Green Bay and Rodgers THIS SEASON only to win it all I guess. Talking to fellow Bears fans they kinda sorta come to the same troubling conclusion. I can’t root for Seattle because Carroll is puke worthy. Can’t stand Kelly in Philadelphia. Could never root for Jerry Jones and Dallas. Have always hated Atlanta.

I think I will just shut off the tv period.

    • Trac

I understand where you’re coming from but there’s a rule I try to stick to in matters such as these. When faced with a lesser of 2 evils, choose neither.

    • Johnnywad

You don’t have to root for anybody but the Bears. Why would you?

    • Carolina, brah. Riverboat Ron still wears his navy and orange underwear on game day.

    • RenoBear

How on earth is GB the LEAST objectionable team?? That is repulsive. I delight in watching GB get destroyed. Their team is nothing but a QB. And a smug arrogant one at that. Who is getting destroyed by stout defenses. For all their ‘homegrown ‘ talent… They are shit without their all-world QB

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

How bout the Cardinals? Or Raiders they seem fun to watch from what i have seen.

    • SC Dave

      Panthers!

    • BearDown100393

Bears. Or turn it off altogether.

    • Joecashflow

      Any team Tampa Bay plays.

  • J. C.

How can you cheer the back packers being a Chicago fan. Blasfamy. Roy Rogers showed his true colors against Denver when he was afraid to get hit. This is the same team that wore hit lists on their towels and piled derived MCman into the turf basically terminating his career.

    • Trac

Jess, internetz + too much time on your hands=jeff like comments. It’s a very simple formula, Hee hee.

Since the Beloved aren’t playing today here’s rotten tomatoes rating for all the Bond flicks. With a synopsis of each film. I’m not a big fan of Bond films but I know a lot of you guys are.

    http://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/james-bond-movies/

    • Trac

How can anyone not enjoy the new bond flicks? The new bond is way better than even Sean Connery Bond.

      • MB30SD

This is obviously bear baiting (see what I did there), and I will not partake.

        You’re better than this.

      • CanadaBear

I’m not sure he’s better than Connery but for me, he beats the hell out of all the others. I really liked Casino Royale and that’s the first Bond film I’ve seen in years.

    • Irish Sweetness

I just watched Skyfall at the weekend in preparation for Spectre. Good flick.

  • T’Challa

I can never cheer for Green bay nor New England. Sadly, they are 2 of the best teams year after year. As much as I hate Green bay, I love and respect how they retain their players. I hope, sometimes in a bad way, the Bears would bring back former draft picks. I have secret dreams of the Bears bringing back players like Chris Williams, Lance Louis, Jordan Mills, Henry Melton, Stephen Paea, Jon Bostic, Kasheem Greene, and Brock Vereen. Albeit as reserves and rotational players, but to have our own draft picks on the team as we build for the future with more draft picks.

Now I do know, its not realistic, but it is something to think about for me. Wootten didn’t make my list because my DL would already be set with Melton and Washington at LDE, Goldman and Sutton at NT, and Paea and Ferguson at RDE. Carimi didn’t make my list because Long and Tayo are the RT and Mills and Louis would be my RG.

I am hoping this regime stays around long enough to build through the draft. It would likely also mean that we have had some success. As a fan I don’t like seeing when new coaches come in and hit the reset button.

    • Trac

I’m all for your last paragraph. All players drafted by Emery are strictly verboten with the exception of Long and Jeffery.

      • T’Challa

I was real curious to see Mills at RG. Scouts had Mills projected to be a solid OG when he came to the draft. Given Kromer’s emphasis on OG play over OT play, Kromer had the better player in Long play OG and Mills at OT. Bostic and Greene were good picks in my opinion, but the two years with no adequate coach to teach them severely stunted their growth.

        • Irish Sweetness

I was curious to see Mills in the NFL. As a player.

          • T’Challa

He was not that bad. Hahahaha

    • willbest

Carolina is demonstrating they can go toe to toe with GB

      • T’Challa

I loved how Green bay was dominated by Denver last week.

  • J. C.

Sorry Trac, I used to be a major fan of Greenbay during the Bart Star days. I was a packer backer before a Bears fan when I was a kid then transformed to the Bears and the Packers would have been my second favorite team until the players were allowed to wear hit lists on their towels and my opinion of the team, management and players changed. I am not a Rogers fan and feel he may only be as good as he is because of the team surrounding him. I would love to see how he would do in Tampa for example.

    • Trac

My post below was for the Packer enthusiast and we’re in no way directed at you. They were for my other buddy there.

  • Cutty of Olivet Nazarene

did you see how fast Fox cut away from that heated sideline discussion between Cobb and Rodgers? They would have stayed on that shot for minutes with Cutler just to get some sort of reaction in the footage for ratings.

    • willbest

That is because 6 years ago, a 25 year old in the biggest game of his young career, tore his MCL and took the news poorly instead of being the best clip board holding cheerleader the world has ever seen.

      • beninnorcal

Wow, you mean a football player not happy about missing the rest of the biggest game of his young career? Whoa, that’s crazy, I’m sure it hadn’t happened before and won’t ever again. Right?

      • he should have kept playing. maurice jones drew said so.

  • RenoBear

Oh how I love watching the Packers struggle. Awesome how stout defenses just shut them down. Amazing how their shitty defense gets exposed when they are not playing from 10 points ahead

    • willbest

Apparently Aaron Rodgers is mortal without a Jordy Nelson

      • CanadaBear

        Seems a tad bitchy too.

  • Cutty of Olivet Nazarene

Football is ebb and flow. Don’t crown single players when it takes a team to win and lose games. Guys can play well while making mistakes and the team can still possibly win.

    • Trac

You’ve been very philosophical recently Yonny. What gives? Has your wife been nice to you recently? Hahaha

  • Johnnywad

I wonder if Joe Buck will be able to carry on…..

Am I the only one thinking the Bears have a shot to beat the Packers in round two?

    • CanadaBear

      Speaking only for myself, yes.

    • beninnorcal

I’ve been thinking this as well. It’s all we have left to look forward to this year. Also, we’ve got nothing to lose.

    • not me. You need a good pass rush to beat GB. Chicago does not have that.

  • RenoBear

Goodness the announcers and cameramen love them some Rodgers… Only when he’s a happy boy though. Blecchhhh. Gross

  • BearDown100393

    Aaron doesn’t caaaaarrrrrreeeee

    • willbest

About Chico spending 3 second frantically trying to call timeout before the ball is snapped? Apparently neither do the officials.

  • RenoBear

I see Bridgewater did the exact same flop/roll over on his left side after a slide and an ‘unnecessary roughness ‘ as he ‘lays motionless ‘ on the turf. And the home crowd eats it up like he’s a conquering hero…

D-line and secondary getting into it. Really been enjoying the last 2 packers games

I have a strong suspicion that we won’t be hearing much from Cheesy today.

    • willbest

Have to give him credit. He came in after last weeks embarrassing performance and questioned how the Packers shouldn’t have been given a loss and a half for that pile of garbage.

      • beninnorcal

Guess you’re right. Also, this game still ain’t over.

  • EnderWiggin

Clinton-Dix is lucky that was Raji who pushed him.. Peppers was about to knock that dude into next week.

    • CanadaBear

Pep seems to have a pretty long fuse but I can’t imagine how bad it would have gone for Clinton-Dix. It’s one thing to punch out of your weight class but giving up 30-40 lbs to an athletic freak with a case of the ass, not good.

      • Johnnywad

I was curious so I checked. Julius Peppers is listed at 6-7 and 287lbs. Ha Ha is listed at 6-1 and 208lbs. That is a fight that young man does not want to be involved in.

        • CanadaBear

I think Pep is lighter than his listed weight. That’s what he was listed at with the Bears and he looks much lighter these days. Had no idea how big Clinton-Dix was other than nowhere big enough.

  • willbest

Panthers… the game is 60 minutes. Please play all of it. thank you

    • Scharfinator

Cam had a chance to ice the game late in the 2nd, instead he missed some throws and they almost paid for it.

  • Trac

So glad I didn’t talk smack during the cheese game. Rogers just doesn’t like to lose does he? He he

  • CanadaBear

Carolina was feeling the pressure but they manage to hang on. I’m not sure how all the calls in crunch time seem to fall the Fudgies way but it happens consistently.

    • willbest

I got this pick really wrong, who knew the game Indy got their act together would be against the broncos. Also, the San Fran pick, no idea wtf is going on there though at least Atlanta is showing signs of life.

      • Irish Sweetness

Proof indeed that we’re pissing into the wind betting on the NFL. Indy beating Denver has no rhyme nor reason. Atlanta have been acting like pussies for a while now. Carolina and the Raiders held up their end of the bargain for me, but Atlanta … WTF?

Taking the Browns -10 and the APts -14 was the bet after all.

  • RenoBear

Looks I was way wrong about my earlier post about Bridgewater… He wasn’t faking this time, he seriously was knocked out cold. Dang

    • CanadaBear

Oops. However, if you are a diver …

The Zebra miss a BLATANT OPI On Ja,mes Jones, something they should be on the lookout for A) On the goal line and B) From the Packers.

  • willbest

That was some BS PI call on Maxwell. He was watching the ball come in and he touched it. I don’t believe the officiating in the last 2 minutes unless you know Vegas.

  • DaMurph

Jerry Jones must have paid that official well. Talk about some bullshit pass interference calls on that game tying drive. And the NFL will let that shit go?

  • willbest

Good. Eagles were in an unfair 2 on 1 fight and won. NFL shouldn’t let a Defense substitute due to an officiating error. Dallas should have been required to keep those 11 in there for the next play if the Eagles didn’t sub themselves.

  • AlbertInTucson

Watching Aaron Rodgers put up 17 points for my FF team? Excellent!

Watching him throw for 359, 4TD and a 2 point conversion and still lose? Outstandng!

Seeing his reaction when he realizes he had a wide open receiver from the get-go on 4th and goal but looked away and held the ball long enough for the pressure to get to him and cause him to throw a game clinching INT? Priceless!

    • willbest

Tough league if that only gets you 17 points. And yeah that was great image

      • AlbertInTucson

        Not “Tough’.

        Uncomplicated.

        Basic TD league.

Scorer gets 6 for a TD or 2 for the 2 point conversion.

        QB’s gets 3 points for a TD pass. 2 for a conversion.

        No points per catch.

Yardage bonuses start a 100 yards for backs and receivers . 1 point at 100 and every 50 yards thereafter.

250 yards passing for QB bonus point and then every 50 beyond that.

Kickers get face value for FGs & PATs & 1 bonus point for FGs 50 yards and longer.

        No defenses.

        No Special teams.

        8 team league.

        Pre-season team draft.

Mid-season draft of available free agents.

Team QBs and Team Kickers so you ALWAYS have somebody at those spots.

I have Green Bay QB. If Rodgers back-up plays I get his point totals as well.

        No weekly roster changes.

        We have tie games.

Ties in the standings are decided by points scored.

        17 week season.

        Top 2 teams win money.

        3rd place breaks even

4th place gets half their money back.

        No regular NFL Sesaon “Playoffs.”

We have a separate player draft and money pool for the NFL playoffs.
You can draft ANYBODY. Brady could QB for everybody.

Most points accrued thru the Super Bowl wins the playoff pool.

        That’s it.

        That’s the list.

As simple as it gets for FF but the scores are like actual football games and I can get a close approximation of my team’s score from watching various Bottom Line results.

        I’m up 40-37 this week.

I have Antonio Gates still to play.

My opponent has no one in the Monday game.

Won it all 2 years ago.

Dead last in regular season last year but came out ahead by winning the playoff pool.

Been in this one for about 20 years, I think.

If it ever goes away, I’m likely done with FF.

My FF Mantra: I want a Hobby. Not a 2nd Job.

        • Irish Sweetness

Wow, 4 points is the usual for a passing TD.

    • Anonymous

I’ll give Rodgers credit. He was under constant pressure — he was sacked five times — but almost brought GB all the way back.
Bottom line with GB is once you get past Rodgers and Matthews they are vastly overrated. That O-line of theirs received heaps of praise last year but, AT BEST, they are average.

  • AlbertInTucson

    “Katie Rich @katiemaryrich
Fingers crossed Greg Hardy deflates a football tonight so he can learn that his actions have consequences.
    Retweeted by DaBearsBlog”

It would be funnier if it wasn’t misplaced outrage.

Goodell and the NFL went after Hardy with both barrels.

    10 game suspension.

It was the Player’s Association that shielded the Woman-Beater and got it knocked down to 4.

    • 10 game suspension isn’t going after him with both barrels.

2 year suspension is. Even a 1 year is decent.

Better yet, punish Jerry Jones for rewarding a criminal. If the NFL wants to convince people they care about domestic violence, owners get fined $10 million and lose a 1st round draft pick every time they sign somebody within 2 years of a case like Hardy’s.

I know they’d never get away with it, but try SOMETHING.

And yes, the NFLPA is absurd here. I hate that unions inherently stick up for their members no matter how fucking stupid they are.

      • Anonymous

Oh, please. You were all about the Brandon Marshall second chance. Now all of a sudden you have discovered a lock’em up/throw away the key mentality when it comes to domestic abuse? Hardy’s scum and so is/was Marshall, but if the criminal justice system is done with them, you let them pursue their livelihood like any other free person in this country.

        • Scharfinator
          • Anonymous

Really? So what is the difference between what Hardy did and what Marshall did? Marshall beat up a black woman and Hardy beat up a white woman? Is that it?

          • Basically, Marshall got help for his problems and is working to prevent other people from making his mistakes. Hardy gives zero shits.
If Hardy showed any sort of remorse for his douchebaggery and made meaningful investments out of his own time and money to try and prevent other people from doing the same thing, I would be all about him getting another chance.

          • AlbertInTucson

The Cowboys are circling the drain. The odds that Hardy will explode all over a coach or teammate will rise as the losses mount.

          • like with the Bears in 2014, Marshall was a ticking time bomb.

          • Scharfinator
        • The big difference is about the players’ actions in the wake of their problems.
Marshall discovered his problem and got help. He was vocal about it and worked diligently so it wouldn’t happen again.
Hardy denies any wrongdoing, shows zero remorse, and still makes stupid/degrading comments about women immediately after his punishment is over.
Yes, they are free to pursue their livelihood. But you know what? Any employer is welcome to fire their employee for stupid shit like that. ESPECIALLY in a public-eye industry like the NFL where maintaining a positive public persona is part of the job description.
If you’re going to beat the shit out of women and refuse to show remorse about it, the NFL should simply refuse to hire you. It hurts their bottom line, because it’s turning away potential fans and costing them money. Business decision.

          • Anonymous

Marshall denied wrongdoing and shamed his accuser just last year. He held a press conference about it. Let us be honest about what ALL this is about. One wore a Bears uniform and beat a black woman. The other didn’t wear a Bears uniform and beat a white woman.

          • I publicly stated Marshall was my favorite non-Bear in the NFL before the Bears ever showed any interest in him. Happened the day he announced his BPD and what he wanted to do about that.
Marshall never put his now-wife in the hospital. She put him in the hospital.
But that press conference was indeed all sorts of stupid.

          • If I only cared about the jersey, why was I opposed to the Bears signing Ray McDonald, despite saying all offseason I was very worried about the DL from an on-field perspective?

          • AlbertInTucson

I agree. But it’s the NFLPA that needs to step up and say “We wil not enable woman-absuers.”

          • 100%. It pisses me off so bad when any union stands up for their bad members like this because of fear of setting a bad precedent.
IMO the job of a union is to protect their good members, not their bad ones. But they usually aim for protecting all, which ends up leading to bad ones sticking around.

      • AlbertInTucson

        To what end?

The point is, The NFLPA steps in, finds a moron arbitrator and gets the gut reinstated.

    • Anonymous

An inane tweet/re-tweet. If Hardy only deflated footballs, he would win his appeal, never miss a game, and be labelled a hero and universally cheered.
Btw, how can you root for and defend Brandon Marshall for four years and then want to lock and throw away the key with every domestic abuse transgressor that follows? I get homer-ism but is it still so blind and full of double-standards as an adult? The hypocrisy seems childish.

  • Irish Sweetness

The Bears are almost 2/1 to beat the Chargers … a team that can’t really stop anything.

    • Trac

But for the brutal schedule, our boys could easily be 4-3, 5-2.

      • Johnnywad

Even with the schedule Trac. One damn first down in Detroit and Langford hangs onto the pass that hits him in the hands against the Vikes, and the Bears are 4-3. This team is not that bad. Outside of Jimmy Clausen football, they’ve competed with some good teams.

        • Scharfinator

As we look back on the season, I wont be upset if we lost a lot of close ones. Being on the cusp but capitalizing on draft picks is great.

It’s a bit harder to keep that mentality on game day though. BEAR DOWN

  • Joecashflow

Love to watch the Packers lose again. My favorite play today was Peanut punch at crucial time. I think that may have started the GB sideline tiff Second favorite was Olsen TD catch. Almost like Bears beat the Pack, heh heh. We win tomorrow.

Hey MB? Did I ever tell you that I have 2 favorite NFL teams? Yup, the Bears and who ever plays the Cowboys. hee hee.
