Second Preseason (I Didn’t Call It Meaningless) Game Opening Thread

| August 22nd, 2015

Today we will  ask five questions for this evening as the Bears and Colts embark upon a useless (couldn’t help myself) exercise wherein each team tries not to get injured.

#5 How will the depth chart shake up behind Matt Forte at running back, and does Senorise Perry have a real chance to be productive on offense for the Bears?

#4 Is Sherrick McManis going to find his way into the starting lineup by Labor Day?

#3 Am I still dreaming or is this Shea McClellin stuff still happening?

#2 Do the Bears have a capable second safety on the roster?

#1 Are the days of Jordan Mills at right tackle severely numbered?

Damn…everybody must still sleeping in after tying to watch the football practices last nite and fell asleep like me cuz it was sooo boring Zzzzzz…..

  • willbest

#5 I feel Carey is the odd man out
#4 No, unless you count nickel as starting
#3 Yes. It is apparent at this point that he posses naked photos of Virginia
    #2 No
#1 I doubt he starts the season.

    • John Doe

Short on WRs, Fox and Pace will go with 5 RBs. This will allow them to line up Forte as WR on 5-10 snaps a game.

JaQuizz Rodgers, Jeremy Langford, and Kadeem Carey will make it. The last spot will come down to Senorise Perry vs Daniel Thomas. The decision will come down to ‘Do Bears want at least one big bruiser type back on the roster or go with Perry who is pretty similar to others?’

My hunch is Thomas has the edge if he is healthy. He is more experienced in the NFL and offers different. I read that he was working with STs too in camp.

      • beninnorcal

Forte out wide 5-10 snaps per game? I dunno about that.

        • SC Dave

Not thinking that makes much sense either, but who knows? Matt can probably do that too.

      • Irish Sweetness

Perry makes this team quicker than any back not name Forte because of ST.

  • The GP

Anyone watching Hard Knocks? No sign of Clowney.

    • Trac

      Smart fart knocker, isn’t he?

      • Irish Sweetness

        Cushing is priceless.
        He’s such a dick.

    • beninnorcal

Looks like he’s suiting up in the next episode according to the preview.

      • The GP

yes he shows up at the end of Ep.2

    • AlbertInTucson

He DID come off the PUP list this week.

  • Trac

Those are meaningful questions you pose Jeff.

  • Trac

“after tackling him, the three of them beat him until he was unconscious”.

Excerpt from an article describing the 3 US servicemen that tackled and subdued a terrorist in Europe on a train.

There’s something wonderfully American about that. I think it’s the part about tackling. Hee hee.

    • Waffle

haha, those kids should never pay for a drink again.

    • AlbertInTucson

“Read’em his rights, men: You have the right to remain, unconscious.”

  • Shady

Gotta give A-a-ron Rod-gers and Munny credit for the Princess Bride reference. Kinda makes you wish Cutty and Cavallari would try something similar? Nah.

    • Shady

In case you didn’t get the A-a-ron reference:

GP, you don’t know how happy you just made me. I just sent a friend on a beer run to purchase a case of Boddingtons to complete the circle.

  • The GP

I want the Bears to hire Sean Hayes as strength coach. Because his Macho Man is muy muy bueno

    http://tinyurl.com/ogbdptr

    • The GP

Like the Silver Ghost Rolls Royce… TOP OF THE LINE

Climb in the can, Tito Santana!

  • Trac

    @dabearsblog

“So you are allowing Devin Hester to return kicks in the preseason because…he needs the reps? #GOAT”

If he’s still letting kicks sail over his head the heck yeah, he need the reps.

  • SC Dave

    anyone got a stream?

  • Irish Sweetness

Leno with the penalties already ….

  • Waffle

Leno beat badly and had to hold and Z.Miller with a brutal attempt at block

  • Mid-field Mariani!

  • Roh roh. Wilson pulling up w a hammy

  • Perry w first team. We need to sit FORTE

    • SC Dave

      A prudent plan

  • SC Dave

    Robbie!

  • Nice draw. Get us in fg range. Gould looking vintage

    • SC Dave

Sure hope so! I have a couple more years to get from my jersey 🙂

  • Colts right side looks worse than ours. Jenkins!

  • SC Dave

looks like Mariani wants to make the team

  • Mid field Mariani sauce again!1st team D came to play. Allen sighting

  • Cutty looks poised today.

  • Nice pass pro there

  • Colts blitzing LBs more than usual

  • Forte lowers the boom. Yes, u read that. Ge should be sipping a cappuccino on the sidelines

  • SC Dave

Oline not looking good in the run game tho

    • Irish Sweetness

      They’re crushing it!

  • Cutler lowering the boom! Damn holding

    • SC Dave

      Yeah, that sucked.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Leno’s going to kill us.

  • TO. Foxy, “Cutler, ur don’t be Earl Campbell in the preseason”

  • Irish Sweetness

    Was Luck McClellin’s man?

  • Have Bears thrown it more tha 10 yds yet?

  • Leno fucking up, again!

  • SC Dave

What a disappointing finish to that drive.

    • Trac

Ha! There may be a lot of field goals kicked this year. If we win games that way, I’ll take a 9-8 win evra time.

  • BerwynBomber

Was just going to say Hasselback must be about 40.

  • BerwynBomber

Cutty has looked very good. Except for the RZ, the O has looked good. Not much to complain about.

  • Trac

The Bears are killing the Colts on time of possession. A sign of things to come?

    • AlbertInTucson

Best way to lift an under-talented defense is to keep them off the field.

  • Mitchell! Looking like a stud

  • Trac

    Yeah baby. I. N. T.

  • Waffle

Leno might be one of the best defenses in all of preseason….

  • Irish Sweetness

    Willie not fly fishing anymore?

  • Trac

Ok, scrub time. I’ve seen enough.

  • BerwynBomber

RZ O will improve when Jeffrey returns. He is excellent there. So was BMarsh. Bennett not bad in close either.

  • The GP

    Bostic now 52 not 57

    Represents his drop in play

  • The GP

Good: McPhee is a grown man. Jock Jizz is full of spunk. (Ha)

Cutler guts. Wilson lanky. gase playbook.

  • The GP

    Halftime show:

Gase really wants Jay to caaaaaaarre

  • The GP

We could make Jay Leno the RT and get better play.

  • The GP

Jim Miller eating at the breakfast table with Biggsy

    Nice shout out to Kramer

  • BearDown100393

A lot of empty seats. Did this scrimmage conflict with a children of the corn festival or something?

    • The GP

      Church starts at 6am tomorrow

  • The GP

    Nice drive

    • BearDown100393

Bears scrubs are hungry this preseason.

  • Irish Sweetness

    ACHO LIBRE !!

  • BearDown100393

Langford keeps those legs moving after contact.

    • The GP

No way does Kadeem Carey make this club. Fuck Emery.

    • Irish Sweetness

      7 for 76!!

      • The GP

        He reminds me of Sweetness!

        :-/

  • Irish Sweetness

8 rushes 80 yards and a TD. We have some backs.

    • BearDown100393

Didn’t panic. Just reversed direction and kicked it into gear. Good stuff here.

    • AlbertInTucson

Nice. But Defense was an issue for the Colts LAST year and they’re going to have to winon offense THIS year, too.

  • Doc Hamstring

I know it’s just one preseason game, but damn, Langford looks good.

  • The GP

Hurst and Mitchell give us some secondary depth

    • Irish Sweetness

Not buying Hurst. Mitchell looks like a baller though.

  • BearDown100393

The other RBs are kicking up a notch now after Langford has already owned this half.

  • The GP

    Doesn’t Jeff love ODonnell?

    Cause that punt sucked

    • Big Mike

What I’ve seen from O’Donnell is that we could have taken any punter off the scrap heap and done just as well.

  • Irish Sweetness

Our backup D should kill the Colts now.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Louis-Jean to get owned?

  • The GP

I hope Bass makes the club since I named my FF team after him

  • Irish Sweetness

    Want to see Daniel Thomas.

  • The GP

    That punt was better

  • Irish Sweetness

    Tayo and Falesy!!

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

WOOHOO! Fales looks like the 2nd coming of Montana. did you see that one pass he made?

  • Irish Sweetness

We have a good team but no right tackle. And we can run it !

  • BerwynBomber

Well Langford was my sleeper pick of the draft so I feel better this week than I did last.

Oline should be good. Yes, no RT but as Hubby said this week from RG to LT we can match up with just about any line in the NFL. Big thing will be the first team D. Shea? Who knows? Allen? Who knows? Safeties? Who knows? Trust Fangio and the system.

And I’m calling it now, we take down the Cheese in the opener.

  • John Doe

RT remains a big problem. Both Mills and Leno are not starters. Agree with this below..

    Hub Arkush17m

One thing we’ve learned, Bears 4/5 of very good O-line. Time to call Evan Mathis. Plug him in, Long to tackle, Forte, Langford go wild!

    • AlbertInTucson

4/5 of a GOOD offense line = 1 AVERAGE offensive line. IMO.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

glad you found a twit to agree with, because i really doubt you would have come up with that all on your own.

  • John Doe

Biggest worry on Bears D… Kyle Fuller.

Through out the camp I read reports that Fuller struggled mightily against Alshon. And he got beat bad today by TY Hilton. Fuller does not look like a first round pick. Not sure why he is not developing. Looked like a shutdown corner in his first 3 games last year and has been struggling ever since.

    • BerwynBomber

Well he was dinged most of last year and still showed signs of blanked coverage. But yes the first few games might have raised unrealistic expectations.

If you’re taking the Hilton deep ball, I don’t know. He was out there on an island. No help over the top. How many CBs defend that? My biggest problem with that play was the stupid taunting shit. He does that in the regular season it can be costly.
