We’ll take this opportunity to promote our sponsors in the space of an actual post.

  • FrontRowTickets.com has been generous and they really are an excellent resource for ticket selling and buying. Click on the image above or visit their site HERE to get yourself into Soldier Field for what I believe is going to be a successful second half of the campaign.
  • Art of Men is now more than 1,000 members strong and beginning to make major impact in communities across the country. In July the organization fed 3,500 New Yorkers  as part of their Everybody Eats campaign (read about the event HERE) and they’ll be rolling out the program nationally – including Chicago – this spring. Take a minute and go to ArtofMen.org on your cell phone and drop your email address in to find out what the organization will be doing near you.
  • 26Shirts.com has an excellent Joe Maddon shirt available for the next week. Remember, half the purchase goes to charity and you can read which charity on their website.

    Bye weeks suck.

    • Bobby Douglass

      Yes.

    • MB30SD

I guarantee we will not lose today viva.

      • Can’t go 12-4 without crushing the bye.

        • Viva

From your fingertips to God’s ears.

        • MB30SD

          Exactly Evan.

      • Viva

I think I’d rather watch a hard fought loss than nothing at all.

      • Trac

        No “we” won’t!

    • The Yes Guy

      Yes. Yes. Yes.

  • Irish Sweetness

Big cat day (because cats rock).

    Go Jags. Go Pumas !

    • Trac

      Watch your mouth. Go Wallabies!!!

      • MB30SD

        Fuck the wombats!

        Go PUMAS!

        • Trac

Hahaha. Oh Lookie here, I caught a big one.

    • SC Dave

      Panthers!

  • Irish Sweetness

To refresh or not to refresh?

    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog

You know what would help? Stream not being frozen the last five minutes. I’m basically listening to radio broadcast.

  • Irish Sweetness

What a game. 3 TDs for the Jags inside two minutes. 2 on D in 7 seconds.

    • NewBearInTown

That team has a long way to go, but Kahn is one of my favorite personalities in football. The guy is a brilliant businessman and he’s genuinely enjoying the challenge of improving the Jags. I’d love to have a beer with that guy.

  • Big Mike

Sometimes during the bye week, I think I’m just fine without pro-football. Usually the Bears aren’t very good then. Made me think about the Baltimore Colts and how those fans felt losing their tradition, their history and how everything about the Indianapolis Colts was born in the stench of outright cowardice and essentially theft. Then I thought about the Browns being relocated and the city/NFL keeping the history intact and the different between the two moves. Starting fresh, the Baltimore Ravens won a championship. One could say after shedding the baggage of the Browns history, (not really, but you could say it).

So rambling on, if the Bears left Chicago, (will never happen, but hypothetically) would you still watch the NFL?

    • MB30SD

probably only socially/as an excuse to hang with buddies and talk to cute chicks who are pretending to like football to meet cute guys.

      Good word problem mike.

      • Viva

        Good word answer, MB.

    • Trac

Yup, I’m done with being fooled. Kinda like these guys.

    • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

It’s like asking if a dude would remarry if his wife died. if he says yes, his current allegiances are questioned, because “his heart belongs to her”. If he says no, his current allegiances are questioned, because clearly he’s a lying sack.

We’re men, we’re slaves to three things: food, football and pussy.

      • Big Mike

Well played. I realize I don’t miss it (football) as much as I thought I would on that particular Sunday, but only because nobody else is getting any (again, football).

        • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

Wait til roundabout Thursday when you realize it’s been 11 days since you’ve gotten any (football).

          • Big Mike

Didn’t take that long, was doing chores, made lunch for the family and remembered I have the Direct TV NFL package with Red Zone and every game…… this is the best ever..

  • MB30SD

John McClain ‏@McClain_on_NFL 4m4 minutes ago
Texans QB Ryan Mallett missed team charter and had to fly commercial to Dolphins game. I can imagine Bill OBrien reaction.

Dude, seriously?! WTF is that shit? What a complete fucking dbag. SMH.

    • Trac

I’ve been onto this cat since HS. He’s a turd. His HS team mates description of him? Choker!

    • Irish Sweetness

      They’re already down 7,

    • Big Mike

Same guy that when he was told he wasn’t starting, overslept the next day at practice

    • NewBearInTown

And look how the Texans are playing right now with Hoyer. He would have been in this game if he just had a decent attitude.

I have to wonder if O’Brien doesn’t get fired before the end of this season.

  • MB30SD

“It’s a game I love to play so much,” Kuechly said. “I’m going to play it as long as I can. Everybody at this level makes a choice, and you know what you sign up for. I have my mind right. I know what I’m doing. I know the risks. I love the game. I’m going to keep playing it.”

    And there… it is.

    From this: http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/10/22/luke-kuechly-carolina-panthers-nfl-concussions-player-safety

…just mute that douche king though.

  • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

    My Bears hibernate
    Licking wounds through the bye
    A boring Sunday

    • Irish Sweetness

There was a young Prof named Doc Nitty
      His Haiku were famously shitty.
      His vowels were long,
      His rhyming was wrong,
but somehow they sell for two fi’ty.

      • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

        Bastard!

      • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

There once was gambler named Irish
Whose twins were some new kind of Thairish.
        They said to their Nanny
        Who may have been Tranny
“When our dad hits his parlay we’re quite rich.”

        • MB30SD

          Baaaahhhhh!!!!!!!

          Well done!!

      • SC Dave

        Upstaged!

  • AlbertInTucson

    A Corey Graham sighting!

  • AlbertInTucson

Another late, critical PI call that was absolutely INVISIBLE except to the zebra who threw the flag.

  • Irish Sweetness

Get to enjoy NFL redzone this week …

  • willbest

Why did I get to play the Phins fanboy in my league the week they play the Texans.

  • Trac

    Irish? MB? Enjoy, you scoundrels!

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CwvazMc5EfE

    • Irish Sweetness

And that’s where the Ws end in this WC, Trac. Ahem.

      • Trac

        Yup, Kiwi’s all the way!

      • MB30SD

        Yup

  • Irish Sweetness

The Patriots are 46-4 in their last 50 home games. Good Lord.

    • willbest

Jets being the Jets will find a way to lose this.

      • Irish Sweetness

Well as long as they cover ….

    • BerwynBomber

      Yeah, they’re a machine.

      • Trac

Best football team in the history of the world. I’m moving to Framingham tomorrow.

Gag, spit it out boy, spit it out!!!

  • BerwynBomber

DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog “Joe Philbin should be pissed. Millionaire quitters.”

That would have been akin to saying Marc Tresteman should be pissed. Millionaire quitters.

Bottom line: Philbin was, like Trestman, a doormat. The interim HC is making the team accountable. With Philbin they weren’t.

    • SC Dave

Yet the rosters contained multiple millionaire quitters.

  • Irish Sweetness

Buster Skryne just about took Edelman’s head off. Awesome.

  • FourFeathers

Say would you will but Lovie definitely has Tampa Bay on the right path. He inherited a mess but that team is definitely on the rise.

    • willbest

They were crazy injured last year. But Winston seems to be settling in a bit. Don’t know how much it has to do with Lovie.

    • Trac

      MB, the floor is yours….hahaha

    • Trac
    • Irish Sweetness

      He’s about to blow a 24 point lead ….

    • MB30SD

      Baaaaahahhahahahhaa…. yes, the lovie path.

Some things never change. Lovie is lovie dude. (And that was an… interesting thought)

    • BearDown100393

      And lost to Washington.

  • BearDown100393

    Apparently Adrian Peterson swallows.

  • Irish Sweetness

Brandon LaFell with 5 drops. Sweet.

    • Bender McLugh

Your lack of faith in the Patriots is……distuurrrbing

      • Irish Sweetness

        Yes, Master.

(anyone pee themselves a bit during the new SW trailer? I think Kylo Ren is Han And Leia’s son – Vader’s grandson – and someone is taking after gramps!)

        • DocNitty Ellipsoids Ornamental

I got an actual chubby during that trailer.

  • willbest

BMarsh dropping a TD… somethings never change.

  • BerwynBomber

Eric Kendricks can flat-out ball. MIN got a steal in the second round.

    • SC Dave

There were some one this blog very high on that guy during the draft. I was one of several on this blog

  • willbest

    Good job Jets

  • Trac

Team tradewinds taking it to GP. hahahaha

Any given Sunday GP, any given Sunday. hahaha.

    • I keep telling Waffle that his team wasn’t shabby.
If he would’ve started players, he’d have beaten Ender last week too.

      • Trac

I’m just dying thinking about GP looking at that score card. lol

      • EnderWiggin

Looking like someone may get a 200 point trophy this week…

  • Raiders off their bye inspired. Good job, raiders.

    • PS. stay in OAK

      • MB30SD

All of a sudden the game on the 9th looks to be a bit more fun

    • Trac

Yes, game ball goes to Derek Carr. He he.

  • Brian Urlacher and me have one thing in common: total Super Bowl rings. – Jeff

You can add Butkus and Sayers and a few other HOFers to that list

As a matter of fact, I don’t believe Butkus and Sayers even won a playoff game.

    • wreckinball

Ernie Banks also never won a post season game
      Means nothing
All of the above were great

    • Trac

      Neither did I.

    • SC Dave

      Typical twatter douche-baggery.

And if you guys did not repost that shit on the blog, I’d never see it.

    • AlbertInTucson

Neither ever appeared in a post season game.

  • BearDown100393

Scrapping the barrel when gloating about defeating the Raiders. So sad.

    • Trac

Twitter + Guinness + Jeff = Global Warming

      Yup.

      • AlbertInTucson

        It’s not “Global Warming” anymore.

They had to change it to”Global Climate Change”.

  • wreckinball

    Yawn No Bears sucks

  • Trac

Jeff’s twitter rambles today rank up there as all time…eh…never mind. Just sayin.

    • willbest

I don’t know, if you can support 8 children, god bless. You putting them on the taxpayer dime then we best be getting you snipped.

You are being sold a bill of goods.

Do yourself a favor Trac. Stop wasting your time looking at them.

  • Irish Sweetness

    PAYMENT!

  • Cubsnlinux

Why are there no white running backs in NFL? Were there any ever?

    • BerwynBomber

      John Riggins

      • Cubsnlinux

Did you Google? J/k. But why the vast majority are black? Is that because of a specific skill set?

        • willbest

          Genetics and Interest.

          • MB30SD

            You’re fired

          • AlbertInTucson

Poor Jimmy The Greek. They caught him at dinner when he’d already had a snootfull.

          • willbest

            Self employed

          • MB30SD

            Give yourself a demotion?

        • Irish Sweetness

Jimmy the Greek got fired for answering that question.

    • willbest

Peyton Hillis is the last white RB that did anything of note. In 2010 he had over 1.5k yards from scrimmage and 13 TDs, but he couldn’t stay healthy.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Danny Woodhead.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

        Toby Gerhart

    • AlbertInTucson

      FYI:

A white running back has not led the NFL in rushing since the advent of Jim Brown in 1957.

The Bears’ Rick Casares did it in 1956 with 1126 yards in the, then, 12 game season.

San Diego’s Dickie Post led the AFL with 869 for San Diego in 1969.

I believe the last one of note for the Bears was Brad Muster. He had 600+ yards rushing as 2nd banana to Neal Anderson’s 1078

Last one I can find to rush for over 1,000 yards is the immortal Super Bowl XX Fumbler, Craig James. with 1227 in 1985 for New England..

    • Irish Sweetness

Kiick and Csonka were the shit back in the day.

  • Trac

So much for Ted Ginns career ending injury about 6 years ago. The guy just keeps surprising me.

  • BerwynBomber

    Oh, there’s Peanut. New #.

  • BearDown100393

Jared Allen uses his awareness to record a sack.

    • MB30SD

      He hunts with a spear

  • BearDown100393

    Ron Rivera 6-0

    • BerwynBomber

Wonder if the Lovie over Rivera thing might some day look like Pagano over Arians.

      • not sure. Chico was on the hot seat for a while.
But it was obvious Rivera was a very good DC that Lovie felt threatened by.

  • BerwynBomber

Did NBC give Newtown a player of the game nod? Good lord. He was next to awful. Classic case of winning QB getting the benefit of the doubt.

    • Irish Sweetness

      3 INTs, 1 TD? Ridiculous.

    • AlbertInTucson

SMH. Right up there with Peyton Manning as MVP in the Super Bowl against the Bears.

  • Irish Sweetness

    4-0 this week. CHA-CHING!!

Tampa +7.5 at ATL next week looks interesting. ATL struggled to beat a Mariota-less Titans 10-7. Sims fumbled the game away at the end for the Bucs. Feelings?

Miami +9.5 at the Pats interesting too. Should be some pressure on Brady from the off.

  • AlbertInTucson
    • They went through and reported any Twitter accounts that were sharing frequent Vines/short videos of NFL content a week or 2 ago.

      Lame.
