• BearDown100393

John Fox isn’t going to like that diamond earring.

  • Aaron Donald, Leonard Williams…a day late and dollar short, but luckily we beat the Jets!

White’s a stud though, and given that we don’t know how Alshon would handle beint #1, or the ever mercurial Bennett, I’m cool with it.

I like his attitude, that’s for sure.

  • AlbertInTucson

Stanford Head Coach, David Shaw. on Kevin White: “Instant Offense”.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

The exact quote: “Instant offense. he caught 40-50 screen passes last year”.

      Please, don’t.

      • AlbertInTucson

And he caught 60-70 others that WEREN’T screens.

        • Barb UMihai Mar

          Good for him.

Just don’t mention screen passes. I’m allergic.

          • AlbertInTucson

It’s a bubble screen world these days. Might as well have a guy who can take it to the house if the DB whiffs.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

I bet that’s what Trestman kept saying to no one in particular because nobody was listening.

          • NewBearInTown

The 49rs reinvented offensive football with screen passes. Peyton Manning too. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that the deep ball wins games by itself.

          • And the less Cutler has to throw into traffic, the better.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

I watch every Patriots game. I understand how you win games on Offense.

I just don’t want to hear screen pass until september. I need time.

  • SC Dave

    Hmmm…

  • Irish Sweetness

So be it. Leonard wasn’t there. So be it.

    Here’s to a Mike/Ted pick tomorrow.

  • AlbertInTucson

Before the Jets picked, Mariucci mentioned several choices still available that he said would “all be pro-bowlers” and Mr. White was one of them.

  • AlbertInTucson

    “DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Leonard Williams is going to be a good player. But he also plays the same position as 2 of the 3 best players on the Jets. Makes no sense.”

Weren’t the Jets supposedly shopping Wilkerson?

  • BillW

Well at least we didn’t hear “what a surprise!”

Now start talking trade with the Jets for d help.

    • AlbertInTucson

Even better, we didn’t hear. “They picked WHO?!”.

      • huntinbare

Stop it, I almost had that years buried…yet again it rears it’s ugly head

        • AlbertInTucson

What year do you mean? The Bears’ history is RIFE with choices.

          • huntinbare

I am working on short term memory loss…Notice they did not “tender” a contract to chicken dinner.

  • Phil Laysheeo

    Bust.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Please explain.

      • Phil Laysheeo

Just goofing off. I’m glad there wasn’t a reach here, and most off all…none of those bust to be QBs.

        • AlbertInTucson

I’m old so, the humor went over my bald/gray head.

          • Phil Laysheeo

Humor is a stretch, I was just being dumb. Speaking of old timers, I miss the hell outta Doug Buffone. 🙁

  • tobijohn

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, life and a pathological obsession for left-handed electric guitars has kept me quite busy. I’m getting the impression though that this pick was pretty much a no-brainer. Seems like it’s been a while since a Bears pick hasn’t elicited a WTH? response from most of the regulars here…

    • AlbertInTucson

      Happy to hear from you!

    • huntinbare

Music is a great excuse to skip out

      • tobijohn

LOL, I’ve been spending a lot more time buying them than playing them. But I’m just about out of room so I’ll soon have no choice but to start playing again…

        • huntinbare

Do the ones you purchase have a special meaning, say a show or artist?

          • tobijohn

None are collectibles, if that’s what you mean. Different styles, models and pickups (Les Pauls, Telecasters, Stratocasters, solid bodies, semi-hollow bodies with different types of pickups in all of them, looking for different sounds and tones. I’ve been trying to get back into things after a twenty year hiatus…

          • huntinbare

Cool….sounds like you got a bit of Neil Young’s DNA in your blood… I read his book this year and he is crazy for pure sound…enjoy the journey…I picked up an acoustic guitar and am learning to play from a set of Happy Traum DVD’s…It is difficult but so satisfying

    • Big Mike

Big mike was all about no surprises

    • Irish Sweetness

      Because of Jimi … or because … y’know … you’re left-handed ?

      • tobijohn

        Because I’m a lefty…

    • BillW

Do you have any Jimi owned? . Or at least held? How about Dick Dale?

      • tobijohn

Dick Dale was a lefty but played it strung for a righty with the low E on the bottom instead of the top. A lot of old Blues guys play that way too. Not me, mine are strung as a mirrorimage of a righty…

  • willbest

Kind of surprised an RB went in the top 10. And old RBs got big contracts this off season. Are we seeing a shift in ideology?

  • huntinbare

Skill set of Marshal with a clearer sense of purpose… We just got better

    • Big Mike

He’s way faster. Way way faster. 3rd or 4th fastest time at the combine

      • huntinbare

That is cool to know…speed spreads the field quickly and can kill a Packers secondary…

      • Irish Sweetness

Which Cutty will somehow overthrow by five yards, but I’m semi-pumped we have a piece to put opposite AJ. We go from no WR corps …. to ‘watch out!’.

    • To me he’s more like a faster Fiztgerald, and that’s saying something.

  • Doc Hamstring

Shit. There’s the guy who’ll be covering White 2 games a year.

    • Shady

      Hopefully that’s a good thing.

    • Big Mike

      white in is better

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

was it just me or did Waynes not look too happy when he heard his name for the Vikings

    • Doc Hamstring

He’s from Kenosha. Packers need a CB. He was hoping.

      • willbest

Kenosha is a suburb of Chicago.

        • Doc Hamstring

Kenosha is on the line dividing Packers-majority from Bears-majority fandom. Either way, he probably grew up hating the Vikings.

          • Cormonster

When I grew up there it was about 60% Packer fans and 40% Bears fans. I’m guessing it’s close to 50-50 now with all the Illinois transplants.

          • Doc Hamstring

A few years back the Trib had a piece on the split in/around Kenosha.

Fun fact: Kenosha is also the point where they start calling water fountains “bubblers” and bags “baygs”

        • GPLDAN

          kenosha is in Wisconsin

          • AlbertInTucson

Yes but wasn’t it de facto the most popular city in”Northern” Illinois when the drinking age was 18 there…?

          • GPLDAN

            Fair enough

          • BillW

And with girls going up to the Sugar Shack.

    • willbest

Vikings are the #2 team in the division with Suh leaving. 1 more year with Bridgewater plus they get a new stadium soon… there are worse places to be.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

Vikings now have spent 1st rounders on DBs in each of the last 3 years.

        • Shady

They drafted a LB in Barr last year. Did they have another pick I’m missing?

          • willbest

Bridgewater. They had 3 first rounders last year

          • Barb UMihai Mar

            They had multiple picks.

S Smith, CB Rhodes, Cb Ways.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong and it’s actually 3 DBs the last 4 years. Not 3 years.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

I’m very happy for the RB pick. For numerous reasons, most importantly because he didn’t hurt his financial gains while getting injured playing for free.

    • I’m glad for him too. I think most Bears fans love RB and LB, and I’m glad the RB has made a return to the top 10.

He can thank Lynch for that.

  • Doc Hamstring

I knew Shelton wouldn’t drop to Round 2, but I was hoping somehow he’d end up a Bear.

  • Shady

What’s with the lining up on the right exclusively thing? Don’t remember hearing that before.

  • BillW

Jeff: Enough of this Chi-town horse shit”

In full agreement. Working downtown I’ve been seeing those signs for weeks. I’m born and raised here. Over 60 years old. Nobody – but nobody – who is a Chicago native ever calls it that. L(Nor the windy city ” . Just like nobody from San Francisco calls it Frisco.

    • AlbertInTucson

But everybody NOT from ‘Frisco LOVES to CAL IT ‘Frisco.

    • Doc Hamstring

I disagree, Bill. Lots of times up in Ravenswood in the mid-90s I heard older black guys crowing about Chi-town, when the Bulls were handing it to other teams in the playoffs.

But that’s about the extent of it. Otherwise, I agree: it’s a thing non-Chicagoans say.

      • huntinbare

        Chi-town Hustler

  • willbest

Listening to Pace talk about White, and I feel like I want him to marry my daughter. New GM can spin, I give him that

    • Big Mike

      new nickname “Opie”

    • Barb UMihai Mar

      yes

  • Big Mike

Bulls going to win by 50

    • Big Mike

      120-66

      • AlbertInTucson

OK. I think maybe they hold THAT lead.

        • Big Mike

          It’s in the books
          Go Hawks

          • AlbertInTucson

Time for Crawford to show his Stanley-Cup-Winning form.

          • willbest

Is he confirmed for tomorrow? Are we done with the Darling experiment?

          • AlbertInTucson

            Yes.

          • huntinbare

The defense has to do some heavy lifting…Dubnyk was brought in to get them over the hump and goals should be hard to come by….the Wild took a lot out of the Hawks last year and softened them up for the Kings…Third line could be Q’s latest genious…

          • AlbertInTucson

Crawford actually carried the Hawks for a while this year.

          • huntinbare

Absolutely, he should stand up. That loss was the kind that gets his attention and usually re-sets his focus for a string of good outings.

          • AlbertInTucson

Which made his performance and getting yanked in game 3 kind of a shock.

          • huntinbare

That Darling made LeMont proud. Used to go there a lot in the 70’s. Pretty country then

      • Doc Hamstring

Too bad they can’t roll over some of those points.

    • huntinbare

3rd largest victory margin in playoff history…what’s with the rope a dope in 4 & 5…?

      • Big Mike

2 thing. Game 4 not a surprise. game 5 at home was. Bucks were loose, Bulls were lethargic. The UC was dead. Bulls got a wake up call. Plus the Bucks were now actually trying to win the series not just be a plucky underdog. They came out tight and the bulls undressed them.

        • huntinbare

Young teams first challenge when they start believing in themselves and take a swing at the hornets nest …I like Kidd’s approach and Parker will just make next season a cause for hope…

          • Big Mike

Exactly Kidd played his bench the whole 4th qtr. ( so did the Bulls). They are going to be tough next year

    • willbest

Silvy is going to be eating crow because he said Bulls victory would be in doubt heading into the 4th

      • Barb UMihai Mar

they don’t understand basketball on that show.

I think they blame Tibbs for the Baltimore riots.

      • AlbertInTucson

It’s always fun when the “Experts” whiff.

  • Irish Sweetness

At this point I’m almost hoping we go with Yeldon. I’m good with the receiver pick, Scott likes him a lot. If we can’t fix the defense in a year then looking after the O isn’t a bad thing. Got no defensive dogs left in the hunt other than McKinney.

Priceless seeing them ask Uni what he thought of the White pick, when he’s already on his way out the door because he isn’t get too many looks this year with the run-game.

Danny Shelton on stage in a dress. Wow.

    • Big Mike

Samoan garb. His uncle is a chief

    • Doc Hamstring

Shelton’s a good, good guy. He’s a solid player. Cleveland is a crappy destination for him, but he’ll be a solid pro for a decade.

    • AlbertInTucson

I believe that is known as a “Lava-Lava”. No worse than if he was a Scotsman and wore kilt.

      • BillW

As in Lava Lava Lenny from Doonesbury?

        • AlbertInTucson

I stopped reading Doonesbury before the first hiatus. A Hiatus that never should have ended.

      • Irish Sweetness

Scotsmens’ kilts are also not okay.

        • AlbertInTucson

          Wow. Tough crowd.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

What’s the deal with Shelton ? He’s indian ? Because if he is….you know he’s instantly became one of my favorite players.

    • Doc Hamstring

      Samoan.

He’s a great kid. Hell of a player. A guy you root for regardless of what team he’s on.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

        Sure.

PS: I root for every DT/NT.

      • Big Mike

Knock on him is he is does not have length. Now we are watching to see who falls to 39

        • Doc Hamstring

Yeah, but a NT doesn’t need to be long. Just be a bowling ball.

Cleveland is a dump. I hope Shelton gets out of there.

          • Big Mike

But that’s why he dropped on my opinion

    • BerwynBomber

      Samoan.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

        Really ? Thanks.

I still like him, just not at instant favorite levels.

    • FourFeathers

Sheldon either is going to be good or a major bust.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

        wow great insight captain obvious.

        • FourFeathers

Sheldon is a very risky pick. Very.

          • Doc Hamstring

            What? where’s your evidence?

        • Barb UMihai Mar

he can be average. Actually the majority of players are average.

  • FourFeathers

I’ll say this. WEAK draft and there are going to be a number of hi pick busts. I like the White pick. Needs a little bit of dental work and I bet he scored a 6 on the Wonderlic, but solid pick.

    • Doc Hamstring

Weak draft? I’ve read that it has a lot of depth–a lot of players with high floors, if not super-high ceilings. Aside from the QBs, none of the guys picked so far are anything but “safe,” low-risk picks. They’re all quality, not reaches.

      • FourFeathers

Disagree. Most of these picks so far would be low 1st round or later picks in most years.

        • Doc Hamstring

Yes, but they were in the draft THIS year, numbnuts. So they AREN’T reaches this year. And they all, without exception, are regarded to be solid, low-risk picks. Maybe not the highest ceiling, but they’re not going to be busts.

(From a team perspective) I’d rather have a draft with a bunch of guys who are solid-if-not-spectacular than a draft where 80% flame out but 10% are very good.

        • Big Mike

I think you are reding the wrong reports. The take on this class overall has bee. A shallow top ( weak in the 2nd hand of the first round) but with a very deep core after that. Lots of 2nd round talent that drops to the 3rd. Pushing kids with3rd round grades deep into the 4th round

    • Doc Hamstring

And, by the way, let’s be a little less racist, eh? You don’t like his teeth, and you assume he’s dumb because… he’s black?

      • FourFeathers

Racist? Really? You make that connection from my comments? Get over yourself.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

sounded a little racist to me also.

          • FourFeathers

Well then I guess we have some overly sensitive political correctness run amuk clowns with us. Label me racist because of a two sentence crack at the young man’s dental situation and propensity to speak in fluid memorized cliche speak? How does this have anything to do with the color of his skin?!?

          • Doc Hamstring

You connected his teeth to a low Wonderlic score, based on no evidence whatsoever. He’s black and from WV. Nice dog whistle.

          • FourFeathers

Let’s have a hand for Reverend Al Sharpton. Thanks for joining us this evening.

          • Doc Hamstring

Oh, so because I call you out on something you said I must be a black civil rights leader? Keep digging, pal. The hole’s getting deeper.

          • FourFeathers

What hole? What kind of nut bag are you? I know, the same one who got kicked off of Windy City gridiron.

          • Doc Hamstring

What’s Windy City gridiron? Seriously, I have no clue. Believe it or not, I don’t follow you around. I’ve read your posts in this thread, and in a few others. You’ve shown yourself to be an idiot time and time again, but this is the first quasi-racist shit I’ve seen you throw around.

          • FourFeathers

Well thanks Doc, I try. Been a Bears fan for 45 years and maybe too many hits to the head?

          • Trac

Having a bad day doc? Please stop with the racist gig, it’s pretty lame.

          • Doc Hamstring

Trac, read up to my last reply to you.

FourFeathers is trying to talk in code. If you don’t like reading it, you don’t have to, you know.

          • Trac

I read it. People come on here and say stupid shit. Doesn’t mean they’re racist. people feel like they have to duke it out I guess. I’m 51, just had an emergency bowel resection surgery and have a temporary colostomy. I’m done fighting.

          • Irish Sweetness

Wow. Rest up, Trac. Be well.

          • Trac

Thanks Irish. I actually feel like I’m going to live now. hahaha. I have to go back and get a reversal in July, I wasn’t going to mention it on the blog for personal reasons but I really have a different perspective on life now. Hatin ain’t worth the energy.

          • Irish Sweetness

Hey, we’ve all been there. Dane Noble is a cock.

          • FourFeathers

I’m on that board and can say that Lester Wiltfong is solid.

          • Irish Sweetness

But Dane Noble is a cock.

          • Trac

That’s ridiculous Doc. You’re joking right?

          • Doc Hamstring

Trac, he called the kid stupid because he had bad teeth. Do bad teeth mean someone’s stupid? No. Then he tries to insult me by saying I’m the Reverend Al Sharpton. Why is that an insult, and why would he assume I’m black? And why would me being black be an insult?

I’m poking him and he keeps saying stuff that’s *almost* racist, but not quite. I’ll keep calling out his bullshit, and eventually he’ll slip and say clearly what he means, rather than trying to keep it in code.

          • Trac

I’m sick of the race card. That’s all.

          • AlbertInTucson

I saw no reason for race to become an issue in this particular discussion.

    • Big Mike

      He’s actually a bright kid

      • BillW

I thought it was funny ewhen Suzy asked him what he wanted the fans to know about him and he said. “I’m a great guy and I’m humble.”

        • BillW

          I’m not racist.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

Suzy kind of pissed me off when she was talking to Shelton, and asked him to talk about his dead brother on one of the biggest days of his life.

          • Doc Hamstring

Yeah. At least she backed off when he said he didn’t know what to think/say.

          • Doc Hamstring

Saying it’s funny isn’t racist. Saying he’s stupid and he has bad teeth, well, that’s shady.

    • Irish Sweetness

I don’t like the idea of a dumb receiver. We’ve been through that with Devin.

      • GPLDAN

I think FourFingers is the dumb one.

I used to think that was how many he needed to talk out his ass.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

i’ve said it before, i am pretty sure he is a few feathers short of a full headdress.

    • AlbertInTucson

There are SO many examples of excellent players who sucked at the wonderlic, and flops who excelled at it, I ‘m surprised they still use it.

      • FourFeathers

I like the White pick a lot, especially in a top half of a draft with lots of question marks. Bears and Pace did well.

      • Irish Sweetness

Does Marino have more than one superbowl appearance if he’s smart? He did a lot for a bear of very little brain.

  • GPLDAN

Waynes v. White. Expect the match-up in Bears Vikes games.

    • FourFeathers

Vikings are building a truly great defense.

      • BerwynBomber

I like Zimmer and what they are doing but I wouldn’t go “truly great” just yet.

        • FourFeathers

Vikings are on the cusp of a top 5 defense. They have a great deal of young skill for the Zimmer system.

          • GPLDAN

Sounds like you have a new team to be a fan of.

          • Doc Hamstring

“cusp” of top 5? what’s that translate to? Currently top 10? Is top 10 then “truly great?”

      • Doc Hamstring

        “Truly great”?

If they’re building it, it’s not “truly great.” It’s not “truly great” until/unless it’s complete.

  • GPLDAN

Rams went for Gurley to be their new Steven Jackson.

    • BerwynBomber

I’d feel better about that knee if I were a GM of team that played its home games on natural turf vs. artificial, albeit the new artificial is supposed to be as forgiving as real terra firma anymore.

      • Doc Hamstring

Yeah, I’ve read that the new turf is actually easier on knees–but harder on ankles, particularly for those high-ankle sprains.

    • Shady

Like that the NFCW is the new black and blue.

  • GPLDAN

Ryan should call the Jets and ask if they want to deal Wilkerson.

Ego and Rat will have to play NT. We need one more guy to play NT.

  • Viva

I schreffed myself when the Skins took Schreff.

    • Doc Hamstring

Run on OT might push some DT/DE & ILB lower.

    • Irish Sweetness

He was a Bear if they didn’t.

      • FourFeathers

        I think so too.

    • AlbertInTucson

BUT, did you SCHERFF yourself when they took SCHERFF?

Will the ‘Skins new slogan be: “There’s a new Scherff in Town.”

  • FourFeathers

A lot of the defensive prospects are dropping. A lot.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

      another great observation…

      • FourFeathers

Thank you. This is why I’m on retainer with the Bears and ESPN. I’m really good at this stuff !

        • GPLDAN

Hey Cheesy, of all your sock puppets this one is the most annoying.

  • GPLDAN

With Chicken Dinner ready to have that break out Pro Bowl season at linebacker, I can totally see why we passed on Beasley who is also in that 240ish range.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

It’s not like the guy that drafted him doesn’t understand OLBs. He was pretyyy successful.

      • Irish Sweetness

Yah, if Beasley was all that, then POX would have been all over it. Hopefully we got a fit, speedy Brandon Marshall, and at the right end of his career.

    • White is an A+ pick. The last of the draft perhaps (outside of Gurley and maybe Gordon).

Beasley to me is more like a B+ guy. His size is a concern, and he may start off like Irvin as a rush specialist, not a 3 down LB.

White is a 3 down WR. Going strictly by BPA, I prefer White.

    • AlbertInTucson

I fear Chicken Dinner is the title character in “Waiting for Godot.”

  • Irish Sweetness

Nice to see Melvin Gordon look excited to be in the NFL.

    • Doc Hamstring

Was thinking the same thing myself. He looks genuinely happy to be picked. So many of these kids seem so nonplussed.

      • FourFeathers

Because the NFL is a business and these players who so many idolize pay an extreme price.

  • Viva

    Bullsce 120
    Bucks 66

I wish we could handle the cheese football team like we handled their fucking b-ball team.

    • BerwynBomber

We slaughtered them tonight but not many had the Bucks winning two games. Plus, they’re future might be brighter than ours.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

Those 6 games are 50% of the number of games the Bulls had everybody available.

Tibbs likes the ‘extra snaps’. 6 games is the ideal situation.

  • BerwynBomber

You’re twenty-two, a newly minted millionaire, heading out of the Midwest and going to live and work in San Diego. Life ain’t bad for Melvin Gordon.

    • Doc Hamstring

True. Getting away from Wisconsin winters (and politics) and going to the land of In-and-Out.

      • willbest

What is wrong with Wisconsin politics? Don’t like the SWAT raids by corrupted Democrat DA on conservative donors?

        • GPLDAN

I think it’s that Republican governor trying to break the teacher’s union and make education there equivalent to the third world.

          • FourFeathers

So let’s have the politically powerful teacher unions bankrupt states with their multi billion dollar unfunded pensions. Fiscal responsibility be damned !

          • Doc Hamstring

            “multi billion dollar unfunded pensions”

That’s about all you need to type to reveal your stultifying ignorance. Thanks.

          • willbest

Says the person that used the word “Koch”

          • Irish Sweetness

With a cartel of private banks running a ponzi scheme with the national currency, I’d look in other places before I started blaming teachers. Or the two trillion a year on ‘defense’ … ?

          • Trac

How come nobody ever talks about the insane cost of college GP?

        • Doc Hamstring

The governor is a drooling moron who is trying to turn the state into a laboratory for Koch brother ideology, and is turning up the volume for his presidential run. ‘Nuff said.

          • FourFeathers

A liberal who calls people racists. Good stuff for opening up politics on the biggest day for this blog.

          • Doc Hamstring

If the shoe fits, bub. Maybe you should walk back to your crack about White’s teeth and your assertion that he’s stupid.

          • FourFeathers

It’s interesting that you associate a comment about his unfortunate dental work with racism. The poor kid grew up poor and his teeth are a mess. I feel bad for him and hope that he can now afford dental procedures.

          • Doc Hamstring

Oh, sure. So it was just an honest comment hoping he could improve his dentition. And the crack about him being stupid had nothing to do with his appearance? Or the color of his skin?

And calling me Al Sharpton–that insult isn’t because you think I’m a Christian pastor, is it?

          • FourFeathers

He looks to be dumber than a hockey puck judging by his cliche speak.

          • Doc Hamstring

Talking in cliches make one dumb? Then 99% of NFL players, coaches, and commentators are stupid?

Yeah, keep backpedaling. How come the guy with the bad teeth is the one you call stupid for talking in cliches?

          • FourFeathers

White appears to have a reading comprehension level of a 6th grader like so many other professional athlete of all colors. I’m sorry if that unvarnished assessment offends your good liberal senses.

          • Doc Hamstring

Wait… where’d you get his “reading comprehension” scores from? How do you know how well he can read? Was that in the 30-second interview with Suzy Kolber? Did she hand him a book and make him read it? Or did his bad teeth prevent me from seeing that part of the interview?

          • willbest

So you are okay with the SWAT raids on conservative donors?

          • Doc Hamstring

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Is Walker somehow preventing SWAT raids on conservative donors?

I’m saying Walker is a bad politician, and that Wisconsin’s politics are slightly fucked over–fighting between unions and policymakers, a recall vote not too long ago, things getting worse because Walker is trumpeting what he has done (and continues to do) in Wisconsin as reason why he should be President.

That’s what I’m saying. I’m not defending anything about SWAT raids.

          • FourFeathers

Fact: Wisconsin voters have elected Walker 3 times in 4 years to be governor. Original election, recall election and reelection. And Wisconsin is getting their financial house in order while the pathetic state of Illinois I live in is saddled with $16 Billion of debt. Go Scott Walker. And please give Bruce Rauner your playbook!

          • willbest

John Chrisholm (A democrat Wisconsin DA who is married to a teacher’s union executive) launched an “investigation” into whether or not various conservative groups collaborated with Scott Walker campaign. In collaboration with Judge Barbara Kluka it resulted in a number of John Doe “investigations” that involved SWAT raids on people’s homes in order to confiscate personal phones/laptops. The most troubling thing about these raids is they issued orders to those who were raided “not to discuss it with anybody and not to talk to an attorney”. Which basically @#$@ all over the US Constitution. Both the Judge and DA belong in jail. Probably forever.

      • FourFeathers

Here we go. Called me a racist and now takes a shot at the conservative politics of Scoff Walker.

        • Doc Hamstring

I’m sorry that you feel that racism is equivalent to having problems with “conservative politics”

  • willbest

At the rate we are going we will get Collins in round 2.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

the same Collins that is the potential murderer??? i bet he don’t get drafted. His agent already requested that he get removed from the draft and was rejected by the NFL.

      • Doc Hamstring

I think he means Landon Collins the SS from Alabama.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

          thanks for clarifying Doc.

      • Irish Sweetness

La’el, the OT, has some explaining to do. Landon would be so sweet, but can’t see it happening. That Damarious dude might drop to us? Or 6’2 Cody Prewitt in the third?

  • No surprise. Armstead to 9ers.
They have their work cut out for them. Never seen a dude loaf so much.

  • Irish Sweetness

Mrs. Cutler in an ad shilling with Dick Butkus? The legend and a lollipop stick with eyes. SMH.

    • GPLDAN

That commercial was so lame, but Butkus is still razor sharp.

  • AlbertInTucson

First trade of the evening. Remember when the “Experts” were predicting a FLURRY of deals?

    • Doc Hamstring

I guess a lot of the teams were happy with what they had to pick from. And teams lower in the round were confident they’d get value where they pick.

  • FourFeathers

Dummies think it is easy and blindingly obvious to “trade down.” It’s not.

    • Irish Sweetness

We haven’t had a single trade yet, have we?

  • Shady

Somebody post some damn highlight tapes already.

  • Alshon, White, Eddie Royal in the slot and Bennett (perhaps).

    Those are some serious weapons.

And let’s not forget Forte or the wild card Wilson.

    • Shady

Alshon is the key to that group.

    • AlbertInTucson

Smells like Bennett wants out and the Bears will be happy to oblige him.

    • BerwynBomber

      Psyched about Cutty’s toys?

    • GPLDAN

      And Wilson.

      • AlbertInTucson

The most mispronounced movie title in recent memory.

        • Irish Sweetness

          Cast off?

          • AlbertInTucson

OK. Here comes the old “Get off my lawn” guy.

            It’s usually mentioned/spoken as “Castaway”.

            That’s what he is, yes.

But the movie is titled “Cast Away” because that’s what happened to his former life. It was cast away. Everybody thought he was dead and they moved on)understandably), without him.

There is a clear difference between “Castaway” and “Cast Away” in both meaning and pronunciation.

BTW, there IS a movie called CASTAWAY with Oliver Reed and Amanda Donohoe.

Never seen it but I uunderstand Ms. Donohoe spends a lot of that film wearing little or nothing.

          • Irish Sweetness

            Ahhhhh.

And the Reed-Donohoe movie was watched by all males of that time. Knowing Reed, he probably chased her during the entire time they were on set, and then most probably did.

    • FourFeathers

Too bad we are stuck with Cutler for one more year as QB.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

      Lets win those shootouts !!!

      • Trac

Ha, can’t remember the Bears ever being able to do that consistently. We now have some offensive firepower at least.

      • You would’ve drafted Beasley instead?

        • Barb UMihai Mar

I made a name just to make a name.

Pass rusher. OLB. Beasley ? Yes.

          • Irish Sweetness

            Wouldn’t prefer a 6’4 260lb guy like Dupree, over a stick?

          • Barb UMihai Mar

Here’s the kicker. I would have used that stick at ILB. That’s my personal insane thought based on nothing.

PS: If Quinn drafts the stick at 8… I think I’m okay with him.

  • Ask and ye shall receive. K-White highlights.

    • I was trying to look for the “Game Changers” vid of him, if anyone has that, link it.

But I watched the WR one, and it was obvious Kevin White was the Alpha of the group. A lil diva, attitude, swag, but that’s nearly all great WRs.

      • FourFeathers

        It was a solid pick

    • Trac

I never saw Brandon Marshall do that!

    • huntinbare

Thanks, that go get it attitude should help the team spirit

    • Irish Sweetness

      Wow. Pumped.

      Welcome to Chicago, Kevin.

  • BerwynBomber

Peters is one of the most talented players in the draft. Kinda helps us in that the Cheese were probably praying he would drop to the bottom of the first round.

  • If you create a WR in Madden, Kevin White will be the result.

The ONLY knock on him is the one year production, but it’s hard to imagine that was a fluke.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

he spent 2 years at a junior college seems to me that means he had to work pretty hard to get noticed by West Virginia, then prove to them he deserved to be there his 1st year.

      • I also think being in JUCO gave him a gigantic chip on his shoulder, which is good.

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

          totally agree.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

POLL: What’s more idiotic ? The Jets drafting a DT while having the best IFl in the NFl or the Brown drafting a C/G while having the best OL in the same league.

I love the Brown fans. Poor Brown fans.

    • FourFeathers

Hard for me to make fun of any teams strategy after seeing the systematic destruction of the Bears the last decade.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

Few teams are run worse than the Bears. The Jets and Browns fit the bill.

  • Irish Sweetness

Classic. The Eagles pick comes in and I’m checking out a nubian queen up front. I’m thinking … Nelson Who ? And then the chick starts screaming with everybody else, but she’s clearly thinking ‘Nelson Who’?

  • FourFeathers

Defensive players are dropping big time in this draft. Bears should have interesting options in round 2.

    • Tons of solid NTs still if they want to go that way (considering the only NT on the roster is Ratliff).

Phillips, Goldman, Brown, though I expect some of them might be swooped up by playoff teams.

  • Irish Sweetness

Is Vic Beasley from old money? That looks like a very expensive watch.

    • willbest

When I was in China you could by some very expensive looking watches for about $20 US

      • Irish Sweetness

If he was Chinese I’d know it cost $20. My brothers don’t do fake bling !

    • FourFeathers

His college coach got him a job as a university hall monitor with starting salary of $450 / hour.

  • NewBearInTown

Of all the things that were predicted for the Eagles. Nelson Agholor was not one of them.

    • willbest

Bradford is their QB… I don’t understand that but apparently he is.

    • FourFeathers

Chip Kelly is a madman, but doesn’t really care because when he gets fired by the Eagles there will be a dozen hi profile colleges lined up to hire him.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    New Thread!

  • NewBearInTown

I like the White pick. Nothing too clever, just a solid player that everyone expected to go in the top 10, fills a need and is genuinely physically gifted. Sounds like he needs to work on his route running to compete in the pros, but that as a physical screen player, a jump ball guy or a deep 9 route guy he’ll be very successful.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

I can’t see how WR is a need.

      • Irish Sweetness

it’s not now, it was when just Alshon is there. I don’t see anything in Marquess Wilson to be excited about. Our passing game would have been shut down in week one if we didn’t grab a dangerous receiver.

I’m feeling NT/ILB in the second?

        • Barb UMihai Mar

Well… you can draft WRs in the second or third day…. you know ?

          • Irish Sweetness

Totally, and TBH, I’m a defense-lover and was hoping we’d do something in that area. But White does appear to be a game-changer. Is the WR we draft in the fourth going to rival a White ?

Is Collins still there? We could have Mayock’s favorite safety (Damarious) methinks.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

Ty Hilton was a 5th rounder.

          • Irish Sweetness

We wouldn’t find a big guy in the 5th round ….

          • Barb UMihai Mar

The Bears didn’t need a big guy. They already have one in Alshon Jeffery.

So… draft him because he’s special…. I’m okay with that. But calling WR a need is a bit of an exaggeration from my pov.

        • huntinbare

Anyone with speed and can lower the boom…do not care. which position but LB would be proper

  • FourFeathers

I like the pick too. And watching this first round shakes out it is crystal clear a lot of teams have a lot of question marks on the supposed too defensive talent in this draft. Good job Pace and Fox.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

The Bengals have the 2nd best OL in the NFL. They take OT. I get the pick. Unlike the Jets and Brown they are stacked at every position. Elite roster with poor QB.

    Andrew Whitworth called it.

    • FourFeathers

Well, it tells me they see the OT has BPA on the board and were unwilling to compromise with the pick.

  • Cards could go Oline, WR or even Oline. pushing more D guys back

    • AlbertInTucson

      OL it was..

  • Randy Gregory, Collins (landon) dropping

    • Irish Sweetness

Anyone up for drafting Gregory if he drops to 39? Baldinger called him the best pass rusher in the draft last night. For what that’s worth.

      • I don’t think I would even at 39 to be honest. All kinds of red flags, not least of which are his attitude and 230 pound weight.
We already have an OLB who gets run over. Don’t need another one.

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

Gregory would be a heck of a pick in round two.

  • Jones looks happy.
    Maybe HB Coleman?
    DE Gregory?

  • Irish Sweetness

Why do they tell you who the pick is on screen before Goodell reads it out ???? It’s like watching the oscars and they flash the winner on the screen as Sally Field opens the envelope.

  • WHOA. First WHOA pick.
    Shaq Thompson to Panthers!

  • AlbertInTucson

    “DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
Mike Mayock has mastered the ability to pretend he doesn’t know who the pick is going to be when he clearly knows who pick is going to be.”

So, what do you want him to do? He,along with anybody else granted :official” coverage status has been ordered ny the NFL not to say it.

  • Irish Sweetness

Jalen Collins, Eddie Goldman. Landon still there. Ooooh.

  • AlbertInTucson

Samardjza and Sale get ROCKED on consecutive days. Isn’t that special.
