• Irish Sweetness

First to say GO USA !!!

    (and … STL … TEN … ATL)

Do we win today? Probably, but it doesn’t matter. Next year is the one.

  • beninnorcal

Lets see them Bears eat some Cardinal meat.

  • SC Dave

Okay, so is today when Crown decides to come back into da fold?

    • beninnorcal

      Hopefully soon, pretty funny guy.

    • beninnorcal

Also, Dave, can you be slightly less angry if we lose today?

      • SC Dave

        This ain’t the Packers, Ben.

        • beninnorcal

Right on, Dave. The emotions were flowing more for me too last week. Enjoy the game, sir.

          • SC Dave

Thanks! You too. Bear down, compadre.

    • CanadaBear

It would definitely be great timing. Bring everything full circle!

    • haha, I was trolling through the old Gnome land, and Crown had one of the funniest stories about how his bball team knocked off the Kippah of the “Jewish Jordan” at a key moment of the game in order to win.

Moral of the story. Whatever it takes lol

  • T’Challa

A big test for our offense today! The Cardinals have a very stingy run defense.

    • I’m curious to see if Gase really does stick to the run, or if he decides to attack them through the air (always a risky proposition with Cutler and Peterson/Mathiu on the other side)

      • T’Challa

Yes! I am very curious as well.

    • SC Dave

      Failed

  • Irish Sweetness

Why oh why is Eddie Royal playing today? The dude has a bum hip.

    • T’Challa

A position that I thought should have been a strength is proving to be a liability with ongoing injuries to White, Jeffery, and Royal.

    • because alshon is out, i guess. can you imagine the WR corps without both of them? i don’t even think i could name 3 guys who’d line up out there.

is joe anderson still on the team?

  • Trac

The Bears are going to unleash a tsunami of banzai whoop ass on the Cards today in honor of our good friend MB. Hee hee.

  • BearDown100393

    Alshon is out.

    • SC Dave

      No surprise, unfortunately.

      • beninnorcal

Hopefully him missing a game or two will actually heal him back up.

        • AlbertInTucson

          I doubt it.

          • every game he misses or is ineffective in should lower his price.

          • CanadaBear

Wish I could argue with you Al.

          • AlbertInTucson

So do I but the guy already sat out the entire exhibition season. He’s like the NFL version of “Waiting for Godot”.

      • AlbertInTucson

“Hard to help the club if you’re always in the tub.”

  • CanadaBear

Just read a stat that Carson Palmer is 5-1 against the Beloved. Fuck! I just don’t see any way the Bears win this one. Hopefully the Cards implode but that seems unlikely with Arians at the helm.

    • beninnorcal

Yeah keeping my expections low. That seems like the theme for ’15 so far.

    • Palmer has a GREAT winning record vs anyone while healthy under Arians.

It’s gonna be tough sledding, no doubt. Only silver lining is Chris Johnson is their starting HB, but even then, who knows. CJ might have 1 good game left in him.

    • Trac

Relax Canada. Trestman is gone, Bears will win in a squeeker.

      • CanadaBear

Hope you’re right Trac. I think this game will be harder for us to win than last week. Palmer isn’t as good as Erin but I think Arians is a better coach than the ass kicker.

        • BerwynBomber

Much better D than the Cheese as well.

  • beninnorcal

Sutton and Gildman starting at DL and DT. Interesting. Ratliff coming back will be nice.

  • beninnorcal

Also just heard on the Score that the Bears haven’t started 0-2 at home since 1973.

  • McPhee active, for what’s that worth.

    • “Bears declared WR Alshon Jeffery inactive for Week 2 against the Cardinals.

Jeffery is week to week as he battles calf and hamstring ailments. There’s no guarantee he’ll be ready for Week 3. Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson are starting in his absence, though it could be Matt
Forte and Martellus Bennett who see the biggest uptick in targets. Wilson isn’t a recommended fantasy option. Also inactive for the Bears are DL Ego Ferguson, CB Tracy Porter, RB Ka’Deem Carey, LB Jon Bostic, C Hroniss Grasu and OG Tayo Fabuluje.” – Roto

      • BerwynBomber

Well if ever Wilson was going to step up this would be it.

        • Peterson is most likely going to cover him, so it should be the Royal/Bennett show

Edit. But Royal’s hip is inj too, so who knows?

      • CanadaBear

I thought Fox was going to bring in a better medical/rehab staff. So far it’s not going well. I’m guessing part of it is practices are no longer singing around the campfire but it sure seems like the Bears are more beat up than usual at this time of year.

        • Some of the inactives are healthy scratches, like Fab. Man, I was hoping they’d put him in at RG over Ducasse, but I guess they’re going with experience since Long is inexperienced at RT.

          • CanadaBear

Totally agree. I was a little surprised by Ferg, Bostic and Grasu on the list.

        • BerwynBomber

It’s a bit relative. If you look at the Cheese, they are still more fucked than we are with injuries — Nelson, Barrington and Buluga. Not sure about AZ but they are missing their starting RB.

Anyway, maybe our D surprises us this week and this turns into a low-scoring Love-like game. If you think about it, D didn’t play that badly last week, and it was just that Rodgers was next to perfect.

          • CanadaBear

I agree with ya but I’m just comparing our injuries this year compared to other years. For some reason the Fudgies always seem to be beat up. I thought the D played well last week but if the Fudgies felt threatened I’m pretty sure they could have ramped it up.

  • BearDownChi

With Alshon out today I’m hoping they pound the rock with Forte today.
    GO BEARS! (Ditka voice)

    • If Forte gets stuffed and Bears fall behind early, that might not be the case. We’re gonna find out just how dedicated Gase is to the run. Let’s see if he gives up on it after the first series like Trest.

      • CanadaBear

I’m positive Gase will be more dedicated to the run than Nessman. However, if we get into the 2nd half with a lousy avg/carry they will have no choice.

    • T’Challa

Maybe with Alshon out today, we can see some promise out of TE Lee.

  • 4 of 5. Bears need SOMEBODY to step up in pass rush dept. Really doesn’t
matter who. Somebody needs to wreck the game for Cards offensively. – Jeff.

Couldn’t agree more. Do the Bears have a sack or even a “hit” on the season?

    • CanadaBear

No they do not. But they had some pressures. Oooooooooohhh.

      • Yeah, I know it was Rodgers, but at least make the QBs not look like they’re taking a stroll through the park.

      • BerwynBomber

True. But I imagine if they can generate that same pressure on Palmer it may result in a sack or two.

    • BerwynBomber

Weren’t they credited with a sack on the very first Cheese series when Rodgers was flushed from the pocket and Jenkins got him? IIRC, that was a three-and-out as well.

    • BearDownChi

I like Jared Allen but watching him get stood up at the line over and over again last week was hard to watch. Somebody better step up!

  • Bender McLugh

Anyone know how hobbled McPhee is

    • Fox is sure as hell not gonna tell us. McPhee looked like a gametime decision, which normally tells me it’s not good, but who knows?
It’s not as if McPhee is Lawrence Taylor when healthy anyways.

      • Bender McLugh

But he’s still our best rusher when healthy, no doubt

        • beninnorcal

          On paper..

          • beninnorcal

            Jk, kind of.

          • I’m with you. I’m not sure he is.
Washington looked more impressive to me, but he’s on IR.
Sutton looked good too, Jenkins and even Goldman (considering he’s a NT).

            McPhee looked like a JAG.

Small sample size, but still, I trust my eyes.

          • BerwynBomber

One thing I have wondered about McPhee is if, like Allen, we paid too much for him. Both guys are fine to have on the team, but their contracts are a little Cutty-esque.

          • Bender McLugh

Makes me think he was playing injured, didn’t look the same as last year. I fucking hope he was anyway, cause if that’s his best…..

  • Bender McLugh

Langford I hope to see today, Jizz was okay but not as speedy as he was.

    • BerwynBomber

Jizz has surprising power for his size. Often seems to shed the first tackler.

      • Bender McLugh

        He swole

      • BearDownChi

I agree he seems to run well between the tackles

    • willbest

Probably will since I except Forte to be lined up wide more than a couple times.

      • Bender McLugh

Would be nice to see Langford & Jizz line up wide a few times as well

  • willbest

I think either we win in a squeaker or get straight murdered. I don’t see another respectable loss. If we find a way to stay in it, this time we close the deal. And I certainly don’t see our offense blowing the barn doors off with that line and a banged up receiving core.

  • Bender McLugh

Always fun to see Saragoose on the sideline

  • BearDown100393

Kyle Long looks like he played with fireworks.

  • Bender McLugh

    Wow…….

  • AlbertInTucson

    Isn’t.That.SPECIAL.

  • BearDown100393

Time to cut Robbie. He’s lost his wheels.

  • Irish Sweetness

    That was good.

  • haha. DUKE Johnson.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Okay Marc, do the same….

  • BearDown100393

Jay Cutler doesn’t care about Sid Luckman’s 137 TDs.

    • Waffle

Or D’s.giving up 140 ratings and kickoff return touchdowns

  • Waffle

    Let’s worry about Cutler.though

  • BearDown100393

Oh so now the officials are going to call tickytack offensive PI? Got it.

  • Bender McLugh

    Exploit that all day, Bennett

  • BearDown100393

Derrick needs to take Alshon out for some sideline threads.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Ducasse. SMH.

  • SC Dave

Not the best first two possessions. Need a stop

  • Bender McLugh

Chicken D looking awesome again. ……..

  • Irish Sweetness

Manziel hits Benjamin for another bomb.

  • Scharfinator

    Ooo McPhee making a play!

  • BearDown100393

Nice 3rd down stop by the D.

  • Irish Sweetness

    D-FENS !!

  • Bender McLugh

Wow skins just scored on STL

    • Irish Sweetness

      Ayuh …

  • BearDown100393

Antrel made a great tackle on that last series. Was able to wrap the arms and not lose the leg. Last season, that guy evades the tackle and gets the 1st down.

    • SC Dave

Good point… i was cheering that here too. Kinda thought ariens would go for it tho.

  • BearDown100393

Manning gets that flag. Rodgers gets that flag. Brady gets that flag. This crew today is shaky.

    • willbest

      Yes well they are special.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Sirigusa doesn’t know ???

  • Bender McLugh

Jizz breaking that first contact, excellent

  • Bender McLugh

    BELLAMY

  • Scharfinator

    BELLAMYYYY

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    FUCK YEAH!!!

  • Trac

    Da Bears!!! Booyah!!!

  • BearDown100393

Such a huge completion and TD for that offense. Well done.

  • Irish Sweetness

My boy Bellamy … anybody see Meredith on the field?

  • AlbertInTucson

Helmet to Helmet Cheap Shot by Rashad Johnson. Wake up, Boger, that’s your call!

    • Irish Sweetness

If that’s Peyton it’s player ejection …. 15 yards and the Feds are called in.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

probably an attempted murder charge too.

      • BearDown100393

Hate crime. Get sued by Nationwide…

    • willbest

Be a 15k fine for him later.

  • BerwynBomber

Excellent work by Cutty on that drive. TD, I assume, was a blown assignment. Wow, was Bellamy open.

  • And Data said a hobbled Alshon was better than Bellamy.
    I don’t think so.

    • Bender McLugh

      Bellamy had nice speed man

  • Irish Sweetness

And CLE go 2 TDs ahead. FML.

  • Cubsnlinux

whats with Gould and the kickoffs..too short..lack of air time.

  • BearDown100393

Special teams need to regroup on kickoffs.

  • willbest

    Special teams….

  • SC Dave

That was quite the competent drive! Way to go, Jay. That Cardinal will be dropping 25k or more in rogers till

  • Irish Sweetness

Eh .. no receiver in the area he was outside the pocket .. .flag?

  • SC Dave

You are all in luck today, as my phone is about done… until later.

    BEAR DOWN!!

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

      woohoo!

  • Scharfinator

I think Arizona wins this challenge.

  • Irish Sweetness

Didn’t complete the process …whatever the fuck that means …

  • beninnorcal

I agree, Irish, didn’t look like he actually caught it til he was out.

  • beninnorcal

    Fuck.

  • BearDown100393

Bruce Arians looks like an organ donor for Andy Reid.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Fuck-fukkity-fuck-fuck.

  • BearDown100393

Cardinals WR pushed off on that last incomplete pass. Should be offensive PI.

  • BearDown100393

This is such bullshit from this officiating crew. JFC what a shit show.

  • Scharfinator

    Fuller, turn your fucking head.

  • Bender McLugh

That was close on Fuller, half second close

    • Scharfinator

      Didn’t turn his head.

      • Bender McLugh

        That too

  • Irish Sweetness

Said it all week, Fuller will kill us.

    • EnderWiggin

Two weeks in a row with deep PI..

      • BerwynBomber

        And both were pretty obvious.

    • Fuller vs small speedy rec = no bueno.
Peanut in his prime used to get killed by those. That’s why we matched up Jennings with those types.
A bit over confidence by Fangio

      • Bender McLugh

        Necessity?

  • BearDown100393

    Arizona 7 Bears 7 Zebras 7

  • Irish Sweetness

    ARI 100% red zone offense.

  • EnderWiggin

We could have used Hurst in that nickle…

  • Bender McLugh

Fuck yeah Langford, running up the gut on this team so far

    • BerwynBomber

Arians might miss Bowles more than we know thus far.

  • willbest

Cutler with more read option. Gotta love it.

  • Good hard count by Cutty. That’s the small stuff that wins games.
    Atta boy, Cutty.

  • Bender McLugh

Cutty Badger don’t give a shit on first down, he’ll run

  • Cutty, leading rusher? lol

  • BerwynBomber

So far it is hard to complain about the Gase O.

  • BearDown100393

    Do. Not. Lose. The. Football.

  • willbest

So facemasks are legit now too.

    • BearDown100393

And so shall stabbings in the 2nd half. Stay tuned.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    these announcers are idiots

  • EnderWiggin

    Dat option.

  • The Refs owe us TWO.

Anyone else weirded by seeing #33 at HB?

    • BerwynBomber

When did Langford switch from #36?

    • Bender McLugh

I was for a second…..Langford Peanuts, get some

  • what a fucking pass.
The Fitz Daltons of the world don’t make that pass

  • Irish Sweetness

Watch us not get into the endzone :o(

    • Bender McLugh

      Hahaha cmon Irish!

  • Scharfinator

    BEAAAAAAR DOWN

  • willbest

And Forte owners across the nation weep

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

did we just run one in from the 1yrd line.. power running game??

    • Bender McLugh

Against a top run D no less

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

on the first fucking try too.

        • Scharfinator

          BOOM

  • BerwynBomber

    Our O is a machine.

  • Irish Sweetness

    FF fans going .. WTF?

  • Irish Sweetness

See Tomlin went for two with his first TD?

    • Bender McLugh

That team is PISSED and motivated

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

i think his kicker sucks. didn’t their starting kicker get hurt.

      • Bender McLugh

That’s right, Scobee missed his first two attempts of the season, nor sure if he’s hurt tho

        • Huge Bear’s Penis

Shaun Suisham got injured in preseason.

  • Wow. They must’ve got my memo. LANGFORD.

Langford is better with the read-option. Can stop and go faster than Forte.

Gase is impressing me thus far.

  • Cutty

Jesus Christ. This feels good. Boys, I am following dumbass NFL site as I am in philly. Any chance anyone has a link?

  • BearDown100393

Lil’ Randy looks an awful lot like Carlton Banks.

  • beninnorcal

Didn’t hesitate to run at the goal line. That was nice, especially for the rook.

  • Ends up being the 9ers DO suck. They just played a flat Queens team that inexplicably ran AP only like 10 times.

  • BearDown100393

Allan Ball got blown up but so did Carson Palmer.

  • Bender McLugh

    Chicken showing

  • willbest

    McPhee… earn your paycheck

  • AlbertInTucson

    Palmer can’t move? Yeah, right.

    • Bender McLugh

      One step only it seemed

    • BerwynBomber

      You called it.

  • Scharfinator

    Zebras don’t like bears.

  • willbest

    Wow… this is ridiculous

  • beninnorcal

    Bullshit

  • BearDown100393

Our secondary is challenged enough without phantom PI calls.

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

phantom?? both were technically the right call. especially fullers.

      • BerwynBomber

        Yeah, Fuller’s was pretty blatant.

      • BearDown100393

Before Fuller’s, there was a missed offensive PI. I really hate the inconsistency. The rule is far too ambiguous. And it needs to be redefined far more clearly.

      • AlbertInTucson

You can’t just wave your arms and not look for the Ball. If you donm’t turn and look, you make it EASY for the Zebras to flag you.

    • Bear Down in Tampa

They missed the holding call on the RB

  • Bender McLugh

Holy shit. ….did CD just read that play and make first contact?

    • beninnorcal

Looked like was concussed himself in the process. Made a cool sound though

    • And didn’t go backwards. Then again, it was CJ?K

  • Bender McLugh

Fuller…..he can’t be THIS bad can he? I know that was Larry, but come on man

    • Irish Sweetness

      Alan Ball this time.

      • beninnorcal

On the TD it was Fuller, got juked bad by Fitzy before tge catch.

    • Fuller is not meant for this scheme. He’s not supposed to cover one-on-one.
Ball got caught for a PI too though covering brown.

  • beninnorcal

Secondary is looking rough but they can’t take all the blame. Looks like the same pass rush we’ve had for the last couple years.

    • BerwynBomber

Well, we did have pressure one play there but Palmer showed more mobility than I thought he had.

      • That’s always an underrated part of his game. He can move. I guess ppl figure he’s old and with torn ACLs, but he can wiggle when needed.

  • Waffle

are we trying to send every fucking opposing quarterback to the goddamn hall of fame?

  • Scharfinator

Can’t tell if I’m hating the game or these drooling mouthbreather appeal commercial.

    • Irish Sweetness

Ed Norton has sold his soul to Draftkings

  • Irish Sweetness

SF and STL defenses getting rolled.

    • BerwynBomber

Saw that. And SF looked like world-beaters last week.
Elsewhere Vikings putting it on DET.

      • Irish Sweetness

I knew it was just one week. They got through the A gap all day.

  • willbest

I think next years D won’t return a lot of starters

  • willbest

    dammit

  • The Queens or Meows will start 0-2.

    • Irish Sweetness

So will we, and so be it.

  • BearDown100393

    And there it is.

  • Scharfinator

    Time to turn it off.

  • Bender McLugh

    Bennett stops then moves wtf

  • Irish Sweetness

Just as he says Cutty is 8/8 …..

    • Bender McLugh

      That was on Bennett

      • willbest

No it was a bad throw

  • BearDown100393

Jay leaves the building on that note.

    • EnderWiggin

      Broken left finger?

      • Bender McLugh

        Wrist?

        • Irish Sweetness

          Brain?

          • Bender McLugh

            lolz

      • BearDown100393

Shoulder? Head? Not good. Hope he is okay.

  • The GP

    Hello 3-13

    • Irish Sweetness

      Dat’s some nice picks …..

  • Irish Sweetness

    Hello Jimmy Claws.

  • We got CUTLERED. AGAIN.

OH OH. He’s walking off. Did he throw his arm?

    • Bender McLugh

Watch that play again, Bennett stops then moves as Hay releases

      • I don’t know how many times INTs happen with Bennett involved, but seems like a lot, and it’s like the Knox mystery.
Is it jay or bad routes….

        • Bender McLugh

          Right? Fucking hell

  • BearDown100393

David Fales cheers enthusiastically. Goodbye Practice Squad. Hello Roster Spot.

  • beninnorcal

Adios Jay, it was exciting at times. I think he’s definately played/or is still playing his last season in Chicago. I think that’s it. But we will move on.

    • BerwynBomber

Well, hopefully it’s not that serious. Semi-shame is he was having a helluva game until that INT. But then again, that’s kinda Jay.

    • SC Dave

      I sure hope so.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Bring it home Jimmy !!

  • BearDown100393

The steakhouse reservation might get bumped up.

  • I love that Cutler’s a competitor, but didn’t he learn from the Chargers breaking his thumb incident?

Then again, if he actually threw accurately over the middle, that INT never happens.

    Damn.

  • EnderWiggin

    Good job, Claws.

  • willbest

They best get a td here

  • Claus gonna play a smart game. but there goes the read-option

  • EnderWiggin

If we win this game – the media shitstorm will have me in blackout mode.

  • Irish Sweetness

What happens if Claws goes down?

    • EnderWiggin

Used to be Bennett(other one) or Hester…

    • willbest

We line up 4 RBs in the backfield

    • Shady

      Cameron Merideth.

  • beninnorcal

I think Luckman’s TD record will stand a couple years longer. Looked like Cutty’s shoulder might popped out a bit there. I think Cutler’s fate is sealed in Chicago.

    • beninnorcal

      But what do I know?

      • basic arithmetic. advanced algebra.

  • willbest

tebow starts for the bears next week. Book it.

    • Bender McLugh

      Nooooooooo

  • willbest

    Fales could do this..

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    that works

    • EnderWiggin

O’Donnell to Quizz for a first down.. Whodda thought.

  • nice of us to save the Cards a timeout before halftime

  • Irish Sweetness

    JockSqueeze !

  • The GP

    Who is 3rd string QB?

    • BearDown100393

You are. And you might want to start looking for your helmet.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

someone get pickles a box to stand on.

  • YESSSSS. WE NEEDED THAT.
    CLAUS-Karma!

  • Bender McLugh

    Fuck Clausen

  • beninnorcal

Well, so much for the theory of us being better with Jimmy.

    • No way he has any chemistry with the WRs.
Even Cutler had a hard time adjusting.

    • BearDown100393

      Richard Sherman is mildly amused.

  • willbest

Clausen demonstrating what QB purgatory looks like

    • beninnorcal

Cade McNown part 2: the final act

    • I’ll wait till he actually takes a week a reps before determining that.
He played reasonably well when he did that last yr vs a very tough Lion’s D.
Unfortunately, I think we play SEA next.

  • EnderWiggin

Why can’t that large Italian dude on the sideline find out what is up with Cutty? Did Thayer/Joniak find out anything?

    • beninnorcal

Doesn’t look like anything good happenned. I knew it was trouble when he tried to make that tackle.

  • willbest

    What is this

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

Allen fucking making a play fuck yeah

  • beninnorcal

    An Allen sighting!

  • The GP

    Allen has “awareness”

  • beninnorcal

    Come on, Jimmy

  • BearDown100393

    Just put Matt under center.

  • SC Dave

I sooo want to be a cutler fan. And i was so excited by his play today. And then, an inexplicably stupid pick 6… argh.

    But hillbilly!!!!!

  • willbest

You have 3 timeouts run the damn ball

  • Bender McLugh

Hahaha who is that non-mullet man?

  • EnderWiggin

Wilson looks like VanitySmurf making a block.

  • BearDown100393

    MVP Forte is all heart.

  • Irish Sweetness

I hope Jared completed the process ….

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

miss jeffery in this situation. could use his size in redzone

    • he’d be a great decoy for the old denver broncos stretch run.

  • BearDown100393

    The Cardinals defense look Tuckered.

    • EnderWiggin

Hahaha! First time I realized where that phrase comes from.

  • Hints of Crown their ass?

  • Shady

Arians is lucky the bears couldn’t score more before the end f the half there. He had no business calling timeouts and throwing the ball up two TDs and Cutty out.

    • Aggresive coaches seem to do stupid shit like that. Carrol onside kick last week is a perfect example.

      • Bender McLugh

        YOLO

    • willbest

He wants to win by 40. Hubris.

    • CanadaBear

I get where you’re coming from but most winning coaches would do the same thing.

  • BearDown100393

Patrick Kane Update: Reportedly the rape kit shows no evidence of Kane’s DNA.

    • Shady

Except underneath the fingernails of the alleged victim.

      • beninnorcal

        And on her shoulders.

      • willbest

Because there is no consensual way for that to happen

        • beninnorcal

          Very true.

    • Bender McLugh

Holy shit that is goods news

  • Cubsnlinux

Ok guys can someone explain to me why the whole media and the fans go total apeshit when Cutler throws a pick? The guy was busting his tail off, took a big hit that wasn’t called and was going toe to toe with the cardinals with no receiving core.

It would have been good for your QB to not throw a pick but that was one freaking interception. All this talk about Bears will never win with Cutler I think is BS.

    • beninnorcal

I’m a huge Cutler fan, hard to defend that pick though, and even harder to defend him trying to tackle Peterson.

      • Cubsnlinux

I am not defending his pick. It is what it is, a bad play. But I don’t understand the vitriol and absolute hatred towards Cutler. Its like quarterbacks never ever throw a pick.

    • willbest

Cutler is the product of his player skills and his negative media persona. It is what it is

      • 7source7

Since when did Chicago become such a wimpy town that your QB or any star has to be ‘nice’?

  • RenoBear

I just caught up. I see Arians game plan is chuck it deep bc he KNOWS Fuller and Ball sure as hell won’t turn their heads around. Fuck me. And boy if the Cutler injury doesn’t look like a carbon copy of the SD game a few years back, I don’t know what is. I’m guessing broken thumb again… And as far as clausen goes moving forward, fuck it let pickles get waxed against Seattle and start Fales against Oakland, let him build confidence. We are rebuilding, let’s see what we have maing

    • SC Dave

So long as future plans do not depend on Cutler, it consider it a good start.

  • willbest

Hamstring? He walked out carrying his arm gingerly… wtf

  • Shady

And by hamstring you mean brain.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Hamstring my ass.

  • RenoBear

Sounds like fox is blowing smoke, good lord

  • Irish Sweetness

I think Cutty likes to come out of a game when he throws bad one. That’s what I think.

    • willbest

Oh good lord. Cutler always competes even at a stupid level. He can’t play right now.

  • RenoBear

‘Uhhhh lets just Call it a hamstring’ – John fox

  • AlbertInTucson

    Oh yeah, THIS looks promising.

  • SC Dave

    Where is Fales? Oh, wait…

  • Irish Sweetness

Fire up Falesy! I’m up for work in 5 hours … I might skip out on this one.

  • Shady

I think Arians is trying to give the bears a big FU.

  • Irish Sweetness

    A fucking flea-flicker…… we should try a fumblerooski ….

  • willbest

Roughing the passer? I thought we weren’t calling those. Fing refs

    • Shady

Yeah, diving at a QBs knees is def not allowed. That was dirty.

      • AlbertInTucson

I don’t feel bad. The Cards got away with a helmet to helmet AND a face mask on Cutler. They can BITE me.

        • Shady

For sure, but that was definitely a penalty. Do we really want to see Palmer blow out his knee again?

  • EnderWiggin

McClellin took some tips from Fuller.

    • Shady

McClellan on Fitzgerald? Not a winning combination if you’re the bears.

      • SC Dave

Can any LB be expected to cover Fitz?

  • willbest

Remember when I said we wouldn’t be drafting high enough for Connor Cook. nvm that.

    • Irish Sweetness

      Suck for Cook ?

      • SC Dave

        Snook for cook?

    • BerwynBomber

Kid at Georgia looked good yesterday but couldn’t tell how much of it was due to S. Carolina’s defense. And it was a ton of primary receiver/first read stuff.

      • Irish Sweetness

Did he hit his receivers in stride?

      • SC Dave

        Lamecocks suck this season

  • Irish Sweetness

    Fifty burger coming up.

  • EnderWiggin

Claws wanted to go for it on 4th n 5..

  • Trac

Need 14, got 10 yds. Yay.

  • willbest

Alright Cutler grab a handful of pills, tape up the “leg” and get back out there.

    • Irish Sweetness

It was his shoulder …wait, no his hand ..or his foot … one of those.

      • willbest

Mummy him up and have long wheel him around on a dolly. It will go better than this.

  • willbest

Yeah the CBs do know how to look for the ball, who knew.

  • BerwynBomber

2013 Josh McCown ain’t walking outta the tunnel anytime soon.
Actually, if Cutty is out for significant time I wouldn’t mind seeing Fales. See what really have there.

  • AlbertInTucson

Cardinals will have to work overtime to give this away. Bears now look IMPOTENT.

    • CanadaBear

      It’s over.

      • AlbertInTucson

And if this is all Clausen can bring to the table then it’s time to bid him Adieu.

        • CanadaBear

I think a few posters kinda forgot how limited he is.

          • willbest

I had no idea why they kept him over Fales.

  • AlbertInTucson

Sniff. Sniff. Smells like a 50-Burger cookin’.

  • RenoBear

Holy shit… We may be givin up 60 today

    • CanadaBear

Depends how pissed Arians is about the snub.

    • and you thought we’d never yearn for the days of trestman and tucker.

      • Irish Sweetness

        We don’t!

I feel sorry for Fox. He’s a winner … his dad was a SEAL …. and then he came to Chicago. I love my Bears, I’m used to this, he’s not.

        • CanadaBear

He’s getting $5+ mil for this. We’re not.

          • BerwynBomber

Yup, not many tears for Fox. And I realize the lack of talent on D, but is this really the work of the “best DC in the NFL”?

          • Trac

            At least we’re not Tampa.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

the Tampa that is beating NO 23-7 right now???

          • Trac

No. The Tampa that has Lovie Smith.

          • CanadaBear

All I can figure is the Forty Whiners second stringers last year are better than our first stringers this year. YIKES!

          • willbest

They are getting stomped by the Steelers.

          • CanadaBear

I’m referring to last year when a ton of their 1st string D was out and Fangio still had their D playing at a high level with 2nd stringers.

          • SC Dave

So fucking this. Who cares what his dad was?

    • Cubsnlinux

      Its all Mel Tucker’s fault

      • SC Dave

Sounds like those blaming Obama on Bush.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Turn out the LIIIIIIIIIIIGHTS ……

Apparently Ryan Pace just sold his house …..

    • Trac

Get with the program Irish. It’s G dubble ya’s fault. He he.

  • EnderWiggin

Norm McDonald as Col. Sanders is the best thing that has happened today.

    • CanadaBear

Around here we call him Col. Lingus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Irish Sweetness

Okay, sleepies. Wake me up if the Titans and the Rams make a comeback.

  • AlbertInTucson

Irrelevant. And it’s not even October.

    • Trac

This is the time of year that fans either dream of a Super Bowl or the #1 pick. At least the Bears are making it easy for me to choose which one to cheer for.

  • Rolle fired up on the sideline. Pride might be kicking in.
Something we sorely lacked last season.

    • Irish Sweetness

Haven’t seen that in years ….

  • I hope Arians does run it up, that way we can start benching the underachievers and quitters.

    • CanadaBear

Will we still have enough players to field a team?

  • EnderWiggin

Long out there looking like Mack Gastineau.

  • bearfaninde

Where are the optimists on this thread from last week??

    • willbest

      Game turned when #6 left.

      • SC Dave

Game turned when #6 served up the pick-6.

    • EnderWiggin

      We are here. Shellshock memories.

    • Trac

This year is dispendible. Unfortunate but probably a forgone conclusion. Sigh.

      • CanadaBear

If the Beloved do the rebuild correctly and we have drafted players turning into stars and have a decent QB, woo-hoo! If not …

        • Trac

          Yup.

          • CanadaBear

Good on ya! I remain unconvinced about Pace. We need at least a couple more drafts before we know if he has the goods.

          • Trac

I respect your instinct Canada. I just think we have such a crap roster that it’s premature to expect much from Pace after 1 draft and off season.

          • SC Dave

Yeah, its almost as bad as being a Cubs fan.

    • Trac

Look on the bright side. The fudgers obviously aren’t as good as they think they are. This division is up for grabs. Still.

      • Bender McLugh

I agree even with Da Beloved at 0-2

      • stats3599

division up for grabs???…yeah sure…Packers are so far ahead of everyone else in the North. Come on, might be best in NFC and youre chirping up for grabs??? tell me you didnt think the Packers werent looking past Bears to their game against Seattle…think that just might have happened. We discussed that in the press box. Remove your blinders!!

    • can’t go 14-2 without losing 2 games.

    • BearDown100393

      Drinking

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

oh shit ambulance on field in Bills/NE game

    • willbest

      For who?

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

i did not see the play and they dont show replays often when its a serious injury

        • EnderWiggin

Yeah, cept when they showed Knox’s shoulder blades touch his ass. Over and over.

          • to prove to people it could be done. no one believed a man could touch his ass with his shoulders.

      • Shady

        Bills defensive back.

      • SC Dave

        Hopefully Brady.

    • EnderWiggin

      Artificial turf should be OK.

      • EnderWiggin

        Sorry. Not cool.

  • Dbear

Please cutler stay hurt. Let’s take up a fan collection to by out his contract.

    • EnderWiggin

      The “D” stands for douche.

      • beninnorcal

That’s the exact thought I had.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

or Dumbass! they don’t need to buy out his contract. he is basically playing year to year.

        • CanadaBear

$10 mil guaranteed next year. I think they keep him next year and he has to play lights out each year after to stay on the roster.

          • “Lights Out” Cutler.
Unfortunately, he usually turns them off for us.

          • CanadaBear

Oh I agree. I don’t think he’s on the roster after next year.

      • Dbear

The bears will never win with cutler. Never have never will.

        • Trac

To lay this teams play today at Cutlers feet is silly.

          • SC Dave

Seriously, Trac? Really? What was the turning point of the game?

          • Trac

            I just don’t get it.

          • Irish Sweetness

Cutty leaving. Not the INT.b Without the opening KO return, he was 21-20 down at the time.

  • beninnorcal

    And then came the Trolls.

    • EnderWiggin

That’s the exact thought I had

  • EnderWiggin

I hope we can get Aunt Virginia one before she goes.

    • CanadaBear

You’re talking about a quick turnaround. Virginia has to be close to the end. She’s 92.

      • willbest

My great aunt turns 104 in 2 months.

        • CanadaBear

Holy Crap! Hopefully she is somewhat healthy and mentally aware. Life’s not much of a bargain without that.

          • Cormonster

Too bad your neither of those things.

          • SC Dave

            ? wow

          • willbest

Physically its a bit touch and go. Mentally she is still sharp

          • Irish Sweetness

That’s more incredible. Nothing sadder than Alzheimers.

    • beninnorcal

      You mean a hypertensive stroke?

      • EnderWiggin

        Yeouch! lol

        • beninnorcal

Lol, kidding of course. She did look pissed though.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

that’s just her resting bitch face.

          • CanadaBear

Once you get that old everything hurts.

          • Irish Sweetness

My favorite new ‘thing’. The resting bitch face.

  • BerwynBomber

Looks like MIN discovered that, yes, AP is back from a year’s suspension.

    • MB30SD

Meh, it’s looking just as possible that the Lions just suuuuck. I mean, not as badly as us, but compared to real teams. Hahahahahhaahahabaahhh sniiiiff

      • BerwynBomber

True. But they have lost their first two on the road whereas we have …

      • Trac

Where do lions come from? Hee hee.

        • MB30SD

          The draft?

          • Trac

Hahaha. So nice of you to join us. Did we stay up late last night?

  • MB30SD

They’re saying the cutty injury is a hammy

    • EnderWiggin

      They are full of shit.

  • CanadaBear

Right now the Beloved are at 13 penalties for 165 yds.

    • SC Dave

Its great we have “coaches” now, eh?

      • CanadaBear

I actually think the coaches are OK. The roster is awful. Gonna be a long season.

  • bearfaninde

Lovie Smith is gonna get his 1st win of season before Fox..

    • MB30SD

      Who cares

      • Trac

Lovie just won’t die. How much you wanna bet he makes the playoffs?

      • Viva

        I know…

    • BerwynBomber

That game ain’t over yet …

      • bearfaninde

        True

        • Irish Sweetness

BEAVIS !!! Do you need TP ?

    • Trac

      Good for him.

  • Learning moment for Mitchell. Not many are gonna win that vs Fitz.
Mitchell and Amos might be our future. Getting in good reps.

  • BearDown100393

Dennis Green getting his revenge. He knew it all along.

  • BerwynBomber

Here are about the only good excuses for the D. 1) Rodgers is Rodgers, and 2) Palmer might be a top-ten QB under Arians and AZ has top-level skill guys.

    • BearDown100393

      Everything will be alright. Rockabye.

    • willbest

Pretty sure Arizona’s TOP is 48:38 minutes including a record setting 28:13 in the second half

    • SC Dave

      Hug that dream

  • Bender McLugh

So yeah, I’d say Zero good to take away from this one. Okay, I’ll give some good to Allen doing his best Peppers with that Pass Def & INT. Who cares.

  • huntinbare

    When is Phales gonna start?

    • willbest

      Hopefully next week.

      • huntinbare

        Hah…I wasn’t expecting that

        • willbest

Well if it really is a hamstring, Jay won’t be ready by next week so I would rather not watch Pickles again.

          • huntinbare

We need to figure out what he has so we can invest or move on….that is the beauty of rebuilding….if the 2×4 is warped throw it out and get another straight stick

    • BearDown100393

As soon as he legally changes his name

      • huntinbare

For me the irony of someone abstractly tied to failure; who took us to a playoff game (after the past couple seasons) will be worth all the deflated footballs in Boston Harbor

    • Bender McLugh

2 weeks, once Clausen screws the pooch again next week

  • Bender McLugh

    WOOHOO! Held them under 50!

  • beninnorcal

I think Cutler either hurt his shoulder or got concussed.

    • BearDown100393

And logically that implies a hamstring.

    • Irish Sweetness

He had been knocked about before that – concussion protocol? Why the ‘hamstring’ ..?

  • BerwynBomber

Well, if we start Fales next week, his very first NFL start will come against SEA for their home opener. Welcome to the big leagues, kid.

    • MB30SD

      Ouch

    • BearDown100393

A week ago he was cut. Strange world.

      • Irish Sweetness

NEVER should have been cut. Crazy.

    • Trac

Ha! And the Bears find their Tom Brady.

    • SC Dave

      And when we win?

      • Irish Sweetness

        I’ll marry him.

  • John Doe

Emery’s failures playing a starring role so far.

Starting with Jay Cutler – dumb as ever.. Throws INT given that he is INT man but then tries to be a hero and gets hurt and takes away whatever little chance the team has. If long-term injury, Connor Cook here we come!!

Kyle Fuller – Another failed Emery pick.

Jared Allen – Another failed free agent

Putting Bears down for a Top 3 pick today. Connor Cook or the best available QB will be ours in 2016 draft..

    • BearDown100393

      #ConnorCook
      (See Connor McDavid)

    • MB30SD

I wish people would stop belly aching (yes) about obvious shit.

Announcement: we are at level zero of ground zero of a total top down rebuild. We have almost no better than average tallent on this team and our qb is average at best.

Please stop whining about the above facts. We all know this. The blow put today sucked and we weren’t expecting it, but it should remove any fantasies any of us had. We’re going to get stamped next week… hard. But I still think we’ll end up with 6 wins this year… as predicted.

      • Scharfinator

Yeah this is the right way to look at it. Trade away the guys with talent for picks. It’s better for them and it is better for us. It’s going to be a while before we are out of purgatory.

      • DaMurph

The blow out didnt shock me, Palmer has had great high scoring games against the Bears, so I wasnt really shocked. Im shocked how poorly Fuller is playing. I cant believe all our receivers are either hurt or pretty much suck. I can stomach losing, I cant stomach looking BAD doing it. If I didnt have someone in San Diego I wanted to see, Id be tempted to bail on the game!

        • MB30SD

stop that! it will be fine. 6 wins is expected, and it will be about what we get…. give or take 1 or 2. hahahahaha

      • SC Dave

We have three better than average: Gould, Forte, Long.

Two are old, and the other it seems the staff has listened to some of the idiocy on this blog and have decided it’s a good idea to turn a great, Pro-Bowl guard into a mediocre tackle.

        • Irish Sweetness

I’d rather have Kyle out there than Mills at RT, but after seeing Ducasse, I don’t know why KLong isn’t at RG and Tayo is at RT.

    • Bender McLugh

If Fuller doesn’t improve from watching tape of this game, then he’s bust.

      • Trac

Barb took my head off when I suggested Fuller was a wasted pick last year instead of taking Mosely. MB liked him too. I never did. Aren’t I great. Hee hee.

  • MB30SD

    Welcome back hunti

  • The GP

Watching the Eagles is like watching how a 3-4 is supposed to look

    • willbest

Looks like the Bears quality refs teleported to Philly

  • messile

maybe now you bears homers understand what a dire predicament we are truly in. this bears team is AWFUL. our defense is a tire fire, and our offense is led by jay cutler, who can play great football right up until he makes the one awful mistake that kills us. we don’t have an offensive line, and no weapons outside of forte and maybe bennett. i thought that we’d lose this game, but i didn’t think we’d give up 48 points on the way to losing. my mistake. i’m not giving this defense the dignity of assuming they can hold an opposing offense to under 40 points ever again until they can prove they can. we are in for YEARS of bad football, and we have jerry angelo, phil emery, lovie smith, marc trestman, ted philips, george mccaskey, and now ryan pace to blame for it all.

    • Trac

WA WA WA WA. Gawd someone please spare me from these turd eaters.

      • EnderWiggin

He obviously is a lover of Aikman and Yahoo news.

      • messile

yeah, go ahead and stuff your fingers in your ears. i’d rather embrace the reality of how bad we are than the fantasy that we might be better. you have to be honest about what kind of a team you have before you can start fixing it.

        • Trac

Listen, that wasn’t meant to be personal but we all have a choice to walk away when it becomes too painful. Its the 1st year of rebuild and even though we live in the age of impatience, crying ain’t gonna speed up the process. I get the angst, really.

        • BillW

Frankly, if you’ve been paying attention, the Bears are fully aware of what they have and don’t have. But despite it all, they are still obligated to play 16 games this year. They will very likely lose most of them. In some games they will play better than we expect. In others, worse. Turning a team around that had so many issues obviously can’t be done in a year (much less two games).

This one stunk. There may be others like it this year. Or maybe not.

        • Irish Sweetness

If Detroit beat us, we’re bad. That’s the only ‘easy’ game we have before the bye. I like the Raiders this year.

    • BearDown100393

Does “we” imply self confession of homerism?

      • messile

hell no. i’m not one of those people who saw us loose to the peckerheads last week and instantly assume we were suddenly an 8-8 or 9-7 team.

        • MB30SD

          Read down chicken little.

My response is, no shit. Stop whining

          • BillW

MB – messile is NOT me. I swear!

    • Bender McLugh

      Sell it somewhere else

      • messile

sticking your head in the sand isn’t going to help this team win more.

        • SC Dave

Nor is pissing and moaning. You’ve not yet earned your right to do so here, noob.

    • I don’t recall anyone proclaiming the Bears were going to win the SB this year, so chill out.
We all know Cutler would be gone if we had a better option.
We all know Allen is likely gone after this year.
We all know a lot of the roster we have now won’t be around next season.

Almost everyone expected 1 win in the first 4 games. No one was deluded.

    • Irish Sweetness

We’re not awful. We just played two playoff teams. Cutty isn’t to blame for the opening kickoff, is he? He was 8/8 and should have been only down by a point when he threw the INT. We were moving the ball against a good D. We played well against the Packers last week, we were without our best receiver in White, and AJ was hobbled (as was Royal). We ran for 190 yards against the Packers.

  • SC Dave

    Looks like last year.

  • EnderWiggin

Damn dudes, Langford and Cutty looked good running the option.

    • No wonder POX made a serious offer for Mariotta.
Imagine, Mariotta + Langford (and no killer INTs)

      • EnderWiggin

vs Raiders could have serious draft position implications in a couple of weeks. Is there anyone Cam Newtonish graduating?

        • Not sure yet. College season is too young. My scouting season doesn’t begin till Dec, but this year, it may start early thanks to the Bears checking out.

      • SC Dave

        interesting notion. Maybe

      • Irish Sweetness

The Cleveland Browns were 21-0 quickly yesterday. Benjamin had 269 total yards and 3 TDs … as he sat on a lot of my benches with Larry Fitz :o(

  • Is it me, or are there a hell of a lot more penalties being called?

Sloppy football all around. I wonder if it’s due to the limited practices, or some sort of new “emphasis”

  • The GP

I have no idea what Chip Kelly was trying to do; but it doesn’t work

    • Just horribly slow starts.
      And surprisingly, no run game.

      • The GP

Bradford was a badly wanted man.

        I… just… don’t… get it.

        • Trac

The dude has been on IR for 2 years. I don’t think he’s ever been on the field long enough to mature. That’s the risk when teams settle for a player with upside that come with issues.

  • Scharfinator

Really, the competition this season for top honors are the Bears and 9ers. Who can be the first dumpster fire visible from the ISS?

  • The GP

Fangio is not Mel Tucker; we will see some changes. This Card team can roll.

Bench Allen, try and get Houston more reps, get Rat back in there; maybe get Ego back; swap out Chicken Dinner with anyone else…

Amos and Rolle are ok; it’s the corners. Kyle sucks, Ball sucks, and Mitchell needs the reps. But we will see changes.

    • BerwynBomber

Jim Miller seemed to suggest that Fuller was benched for Mitchell some point in the second half, but he did clarify he wasn’t sure.

Ball is what he is. I can live with him short-term. What has happened to Fuller I have no idea.

      • The GP

Fuller can’t play Bump and run. He’s a cushion corner.

Emery told us of his “versatility”. Time to tap it; he can move to specials and be the backup FS behind Amos.

    • SC Dave

Allen made the best play of the day.

      • willbest

The only play. Oh wait, one of the RBs fell on a muffed punt.

    • Irish Sweetness

Yep, we were moving it on a pretty good defense. Without the 108 yard return, we would have been down 21-20 before the INT. GB look pretty good here against SEA. I think we just have a few starters that are currently on the bench, and we’re without our two top receivers – we’re not terrible.

  • Romo and Cutty down.
    Separated at birth.

    • BerwynBomber

Man, Romo. That dude is going to be getting around like Evel Knieval once he retires.

In other news, Old Sauce can still coach D.

  • Viva

    Fuck it.

    Dave Toub for HC.

  • chitownproud85

Whelp. 2 down, 14 to go.

  • BearDown100393

What does a beast do now after his D gives up 48?

    • BerwynBomber

      34. AZ scored a D TD and an ST TD.

    • Special teams gave up a TD, and the O too I think.

      • BearDown100393

Yeah, you are right. The D gave up 34 right. My bad. Still not good.

  • FresnoBear

So what I miss around here? Cutler fake his injury?

    • Irish Sweetness

He crushed his shoulder, they walk him off, then it comes back he has a “hamstring” … smh.

  • Early reports. Romo down for 8 weeks. Probably closer to 9.

If Cutler is OK, trade Cutty for Romo straight up?

The Cowboys are in win-now mode.

Cutty behind that Oline and run game can perhaps manage.

We’ll have an ideal “bridge QB” who is nearly more efficient than Rodgers.

    • Shady

      Nobody is trading for Cutler.

      • Jerry Jones is crazy enough and is going all in. If he thinks he’s winning with the Incredible Benjamin Button Brandon Weeden, he’s smoking Weeden.

Cowboys are determined to run the ball, and with that Oline, Cutty can perhaps cutdown on being Cutty.

We’d get Romo back in 8 weeks, in meantime, he can learn Gase’s O while we figure out if Fales/Clausen are more than back-ups.

Chances are they suck, and we move up in the draft.

I can live with Romo for 2 more years while we groom or find a new QB.

        • Shady

You are living in crazy town my friend.

        • Trac

That would be like kissing your sister. No thanks.

      • wreckinball

        Agree

    • BerwynBomber

Careful there. Romo was almost as efficient as Rodgers last year but not historically/career-wise.

Is Romo generally better than Cutler? Yes. But doubtful DAL would make that trade.

      • yes, Rodgers is better no doubt, but Romo is in pretty good company.

        http://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_career.htm

He’s exactly what we need. Someone who doesn’t turn the ball over in crunch time. Older, so we can still look for a new stud. He’d be our old Warner.

        • BerwynBomber

Hey, I’ve always thought Romo was under-appreciated nationally. That said, he has a history of making the big TO at the worst possible time. Granted, he is not the consistent TO machine Jay is, but he has his own demons. In some ways, Romo is even more of a tease because he will take you farther than Cutty but still break your heart at the end.

And again, I don’t think DAL will nibble. We’re stuck with Cutty until the off-season. Actually he has played well in Gase’s system except for … well, you know the story.

      • Irish Sweetness

Romo has had an awesome line, defense, receivers, RBs, yachts, blowjobs ….

    • willbest

Granted QB isn’t RB or WR. But Cutler isn’t going to be back next week if the hamstring kept him from returning

      • Irish Sweetness

    • BerwynBomber

He’ll be marketable next year if we go that route. Only one year of guaranteed money left after this year.

  • BerwynBomber

    That shit ain’t right ….

      • wreckinball

Good point snapped me back to reality
        Fuck the cheeseheads

  • BerwynBomber

Cutty played well today. Even with the INT. Yeah, it was a killer but he was also PRODUCING. That has been my knock on Cutty. Not that he isn’t an inferior version of Rodgers or Brady — high production/very few mistakes — but more that he isn’t an inferior version of Luck or Brees — high production/but fair # of mistakes at times. To me that is the best template for “good” Cutler. Today he was giving us that.

    • wreckinball

Isn’t that every week The killer turnover
It’s an insult to the hall of fame QBs to have Cutler even in the same sentence as them

      • BerwynBomber

Well I specified “inferior” version. I guess I could say inferior version of someone like Rivers. Maybe that is more realistic.

But same point . He ain’t ever going to be Mr. Effficent. But he can be more productive. No reason why he can’t have 30 TDs in a year.

        • wreckinball

Well he’s our guy this year so I hope he recovers and does well
          I’m not hopeful though

          • SC Dave

I’ve said this for three or four seasons now, but the disappointments just stack up.

        • Irish Sweetness

Does anyone know how many QBs threw INTs yesterday?

    • SC Dave

We need something better than that “good”, BB.

      • MB30SD

We’re the bears, we’ve had that once or twice… in the history of the nfl. It’s not a right in the nfl. Look at all the other teams with wrote qbs.

      • BerwynBomber

Guess what I”m saying is this: if Cutty gave us a 35 TD/18 INT year that would be a whole lot better than what we saw last year. In other words, I don’t think he’ll ever not make a good number of mistakes, but if he can be productive (as he was today) the mistakes are at least a little more forgivable.

But at the same time, believe me, I’m ready to move on.

        • SC Dave

It would be, but we wont see it.

    • AlbertInTucson

Sigh. He was 8 of 8, moving the chains and then WHAM! He uncorks that absolutely HORRID throw behind Bennett who had all kinds of room to rumble if Cutler hits him in stride. That gets so tiresome.

    • Irish Sweetness

      8/8 before that INT.

  • BillW

No bag for me this year! George had the guts to fire Emery and Trestman with years left and millions down the drain. He listened to Pace and then Fox tell him we have to start over (I assume). I figured there might be a day or more like this as a result early in the season. I hoped not but I can’t say I’m shocked. Just disappointed.

I’m proud that the Bears decided to go longer term on this. Longer term it is. I’m in for the duration. I know this is a 2-3 year project.

Back to lurking. I just had to say that.

    • Irish Sweetness

Starting over would have involved sending Jay to NY, keeping Brandon here, and drafting Leonard Williams. Keeping Jay meant we couldn’t start over.

  • wreckinball

Fox will turn it around I just hope he hangs in there and doesn’t retire

    • willbest

Saddened. I have Lynch and needed 14 points. Didn’t get.

  • Bears TE Martellus Bennett and WR Josh Bellamy indicated after the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Cardinals Jay Cutler (hamstring) could miss Week 3.

Both players spoke about Jimmy Clausen as if he was going to start next week against the Seahawks. “Jimmy just has to come in and fill in that role,” Bellamy said. “We’re going to catch a lot of balls
from Jimmy during the week,” Bennett said. These comments do not confirm Cutler is dealing with a long-term injury, but they could represent thebest information we get out of the infamously tight-lipped Bears. We will have a better idea of Cutler’s status for Week 3 after the first practice report is released on Wednesday. – Roto

Bears CB Kyle Fuller was benched in the second half of the team’s Week 2 loss to the Cardinals.

Fuller was beaten by Larry Fitzgerald for a touchdown and committed a bad pass interference on John Brown. Alan Ball has not been much better than Fuller, however, and the Bears are unlikely to turn to
career special teamer Sherrick McManis on the outside. He should keep his starting job, but the Bears will be a pass defense to target for fantasy purposes all season. – Roto

    • BerwynBomber

Did anyone expect much from Ball? He’s a career second-stringer, isn’t he? I don’t believe we paid him much.

P.S. Would be sorta crazy for Fox to start Fales, but it does kinda piss me off we didn’t draft one this past year. Hell, the Cheese and Pats draft QBs. What are we gun shy?

      • SC Dave

        Jay is our QB

      • I have higher hopes for Mitchell

      • Irish Sweetness

I still need it explained why folk are so low on David Fales. What has he done wrong? Why does he not exist as a QB in fans’ minds?

        • He cleared waivers for a reason. No one besides us even offered him a spot on the PS, as far as I know.

That being said, I agree with Jeff. We should find out what we have in Fales. If he sucks, no use in wasting a valuable PS or even roster slot for him, and we’d also find out how aggressively we need to target a QB in the next two drafts.

        • BerwynBomber

Look, I’m for starting him. But if Fox does that it could be perceived as white flag waving by the rest of the team. Hence, I would be surprised if Fales starts.

        • MB30SD

He had his shot and is LUCKY to be back on an NFL PRACTICE SQUAD irish?! I don’t get it maings. If he was worth a shit, he would have supplanted the dogshit that jimmy clausen is… no?

Proof’s in the puddin lad. Doing well in a 4th preseason game don’t mean sheeeeeeiiiiittteee. Kinda like being a springbok rugby player these days it would seem.

          • Mitchell got some reps once Fuller was benched.

What was the dam penalty that stopped the clock?

  • AlbertInTucson

    Soapbox, please.

    Face it.

In terms of the “Modern” NFL (The Merger / 1965 on), the Bears have been, MUCH more often than not, a lower echelon franchise.

The Dooley Years. The Gibron Years. The Armstrong years. Wannsedt. Jauron.Trestman.

One really good season from Lovie was just a blip on the Bear Radar and he pissed away a Super Bowl the could (should) have won.

Papa Bear stayed too long at the helm.

Hell, I probably would have TOO if I had INVENTED the product.

When Halas FINALLY relented, he made a brilliant hire in Jim Finks.

But Papa Bear then chased HIM out of town by hiring Ditka without consulting his most excellent GM.

I submit that Jim Finks could have hired a coach who would have been AS successful with that 1985 core of players.

And maybe, just MAYBE, the guy Finks would have approved doesn’t lose the locker room in 1986 because after telling his players not to let the success go to THEIR heads, he let the success go to HIS head.

5 Playoff appearances in 23 years.

    THAT, is piss poor management.

In a system designed to breed Parity, the Chicago Bears breed Parody.

    • Irish Sweetness

It’s hard to have a go at Ditka when he brought us the only Lombardi we have. A rudderless ship goes nowhere, and that was one special bunch of hooligans. Some would say anybody could have won with that team – would Marc Trestman? Anyone could have won with that defense though, and a smart man would not have lost to Miami, and maybe recognized that Dan Marino had the fastest release in the NFL. Probably.

Buddy Ryan may have cost us the “best team ever” moniker without any arguments from anyone. 16-0, SB winners.

      • AlbertInTucson

Sorry, but Iron Mike underachieved with that talent by not at least GETTING to a 2nd SB.

  • BearDownChi

Hoping for trade or free agent pickup. Jimmy isn’t gonna win us any games. At this rate give us tebow and run the ball 90% of the game. Fox did win a playoff game with him

  • Irish Sweetness

This is why it was INSANE to cut David Fales before. Imagine he had been claimed off waivers. We would be looking at bringing in some Joe off the street to play QB after week 2….. when we have put a lot of time and effort into developing David.

    • BearDownChi

Fales played good in the pre season but that means nothing still after what jimmy showed us today fales deserves a shot

    • BearDown100393

The guy who was waived and not picked up by any other NFL team is probably now the starting quarterback against the Seahawks next week. And oh yeah, the game is in Seattle.
      No problem.
He’ll be just fine. Paraphrasing Mike Martz once upon a time about… Caleb right?

      • BearDownChi

Which guy are u referring to.

        • BearDown100393

          Fales

          • BearDownChi

Ya it’s sad ….I’ve been following this blog for about 4 years just now decided I’m gonna join in… I have faith in these coaches I believe in john fox. Today he had no option but to stick with clauson he could have put fales in for the fourth quarter but chose not too. We had nothing to lose

          • BearDown100393

Fales is on the practice squad. He wasn’t activated for the game, let alone on the roster. There was no other QB other than Jimmy.

          • BearDownChi

Oh did not know that…so what do u think take on Seattle with jimmy or fales? U think we got any chance of picking up a QB weather be by FA or trade?

          • BearDown100393

I’d like to see Fales get the start. However I’m not the new head coach and I don’t have to worry about losing respect in the locker room, especially only into week 3 of the regular season. Bypassing Jimmy for Fales might be interpreted as giving up on the season and ticking off the veterans. I don’t know the relationship or intricacies of the other players with Jimmy Clausen. Now if he has lost the trust or support of his teammates, then there is little other option other than going with Fales. I can only speculate. I don’t think you bring some other retread QB, sign him, shift roster spots and then throw him out there against Seattle.

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

a lot of bears coaches have done the same in the past. Mr. Krenzel you are up, then lets see what Quinn can do, or Burris

  • This SEA D looks a lot like the Lach D that contained Rodgers.
Let’s see if they can finish, unlike Lovie.

  • MB30SD

    BOOM!

  • BerwynBomber

Cheese D also starting to look like the Cheese D. Credit Carroll and Wilson for coming out the second half like gangbusters.

  • BearDownChi

So what do u guys think about possible FA quarterbacks out there? Who is even available that could play?

    • BearDown100393

      • BearDownChi

            Did Kelly win today?

          • WP34

Saw them down 20 to 10 with Romo out for boyz.

    • At this point, I’d rather ride with Clausen or Fales who at least are somewhat familiar Gase’s system.

Everyone else sucks. Here’s a list. It ain’t pretty.

      • BearDownChi

This might sound stupid but I’m thinking screw the system take the best talent available

        • It depends how long Cutler is down for.
If he’s only down for 2 games, by the time Jason Campbell, etc learn the system, they’ll be back out.

Right now Clausen and Fales give us the best chance, for better or worse.

Now, if he’s out for weeks, that might be different, but I doubt it.

      • Irish Sweetness

Precisely. What’s the worst that could happen? We go 3-13? Sweet. Great picks.

We chose David to develop him, give him the keys. You’re up, kid.

    • Irish Sweetness

(David Fales jumping up and down)

HEY YOU GUYS !! OVER HERE!! HELLLLO !!

      • MB30SD

HEY YOU GUYS!! OVER HERE! I BARELY STUCK ON A PRACTICE SQUAD! OVER HERE!

Irish… come on maings. If he was worth a shit john fox and ADAM GASE would have jumped all over him.

        • BearDownChi

The guy played great…..against the guys playing 3rd string and fighting for a roster spot

          • MB30SD

Yeah, awesome. You want that dude going against the seahawks 1s. no thanks.

Clausen is at least somewhat experienced at getting his head kicked in

          • BearDownChi

I’d rather have him put up a fight then watch jimmy crawl into the fetal position

          • MB30SD

meh, I’ll proffer that his first start isn’t seattle IN seattle… especially if they lose this game.

          • BearDownChi

Hopefully Jay is back! The drop off from him to jimmy is huge

          • MB30SD

it won’t matter maings. SEA at SEA is a lost cause for us.

          • BearDownChi

Ya I hear ya man… I mean any given Sunday right…but I was thinking bout the rest of the season tho

          • MB30SD

            I wasn’t. haha

  • wow. Sac-v-GP in FF is epic. That’s gonna be a close one, and Lacy isn’t even playing for Sac.

  • RenoBear

Nice adjustments at halftime by a smart coaching staff. Love it. Fuck the fudgers!

  • RenoBear

I know I say it every time I watch the fudge play, but man what a fatty McFat pig McCarthy is…

    • BearDown100393

      Grimus

      • RenoBear

        Yesss!

  • Peppers looks like Frankenstien trying to chase down a chicken when running after Wilson.

  • MB30SD

    oh god

  • WP34

I haven’t seen the Bears to get that call in a decade

  • BearDown100393

Trying to decide if God really wants Russell Wilson to sling the football.

  • haha Rodgers turning into Peyton…and getting his own guy offsides.

  • MB30SD

    story time.

I go shopping this morning for some supplies before my kids show up.

I round the corner to the produce section and I immediately notice the produce guy is in a Bmarsh jersey and a big old bears hat. We talk a little bit, and we get onto rodgers.

He says, yeah, that motherfucker comes in here a couple/few times during the off season (he lives in SD), and I’ve thought about cutting his Achilles, as he holds up the knife thingy he uses to cut the bottoms off the lettuce and shit.

I had to laugh. Crazy fucker.

    • WP34

Just like all Bears Fans…a little crazy

  • MB30SD

    smh

  • SEA rushed only 3 and dropped a guy to spy Rodgers.
    Didn’t work.
Aside from a few sacks and stops, Rodgers has pretty much done whatever he wants.

    • MB30SD

      what’s new. FOL

      • BearDownChi

He discount double checking these fools

        • MB30SD

          stop that

        • BearDownChi

Pete better get his shit together and get the ball to Jimmy Graham

    • BerwynBomber

He’s bought ALOT of time with his feet. They’ve generated decent push with four guys most of the night.

    • Irish Sweetness

The least blitzed QB in the NFL. He must be.

  • haha it’s unbelievable how defenders constantly misjudge Wilson’s speeding going to the edge.

  • BearDownChi

What do you guys think of our D is it just lack of talent?

    • Yup. We have no playmakers, simple as that (and some huge liabilities, like Fuller).

      • BearDownChi

I agree I can’t believe we let Tillman and Jennings go I know they don’t fit the new D but the talent level was high how do u just let them both walk

        • No way would Tillman or Jennings be upgrades.
I think both McManis and Mitchell outperformed both. But that’s not saying much. We have to hit in the draft and do better than getting JAGS like McPhee.

          • MB30SD

            this

    • BerwynBomber

Yes but so far the “best DC in the NFL” seems a tad overrated.

    • Irish Sweetness

      My $0.02.

      1. Our corners are probably on the bench.

      2. We have some interesting LBs in Timu, Acho and Anderson (PS).

      3. I am in a small boat waving the Terry Williams flag (PS).

      4. Not expecting anything this year, but another draft and round of FA should help us on D.

      5. Our coaches have a record of winning/competence.

      • Both Terry Williams and Tayo need to be in the line-ups.
How many offsides are we going to put up with Ducasse?

        • AlbertInTucson

Remember, you can’t spell “Ducasse’ without “Ass”.

      • BearDownChi

The guys in aren’t making plays might as well get the bench guys a look if they are the future why not let them play?… 0-2 looking at 0-3

  • BerwynBomber

    Wilson is so damn crafty.

  • MB30SD

    sigh

    • You didn’t think SEA was gonna win at Lambeau? Or maybe it’s just a general existential sigh (see, Marcel Marceau )

      • MB30SD

        Never like MM.

        Yes, I did.

  • BerwynBomber

I am in semi-denial about Fuller. WTH happened? Even at the end of last year, while injured, he didn’t look that bad. SMH …

  • MB30SD

how is the packer also not ejected?!

  • Irish Sweetness

AJ Wright … WTF are you thinking son?

  • WP34

    No offense Holding there…

  • Wouldn’t it be epic if the Cheese meltdown again?

  • Irish Sweetness

    Kam Chancellor, eh?

  • The GP
    • BearDownChi

Gonna be making u drink on thanksgiving when we whoop that ass

  • BerwynBomber

Hate to say this but the Cheese might have found a nice little player in Ty Montgomery at the end of the 3rd round. Not a future PBer or anything but a dude who could contribute for a # of years.

Oh well. Onto 0-2 SEA with Pickles at the helm. Yeesh …

  • The GP
    • John Doe

Fales will be eaten alive by Seahawks defense.

      • BerwynBomber

So will Clausen. I would prefer to see Fales but I suspect Fox won’t start him because of the message that would send to the veterans.

        • John Doe

You don’t giveDavid Fales his first ever NFL start on the road against Seahawks.

At least Clausen has taken NFL snaps in some meaningful games and so knows what it is like.

      • Irish Sweetness

He was excellent under pressure, albeit in PS. That TD pass (and catch) to Ify was sick.

We were much more effective against GB’s defense than Seattle were. We’re a better running team for starters.

    • “It also is time for Jeremy Langford, Cam Meredith, Patrick Omameh, Khari Lee, Will Sutton, John Timu and Terrance Mitchell to spend more time on the field than they do on the bench.

If the Bears are going to lose, they should at least do it testing their youth and trying to get better rather than playing vets who leave them treading water or making them worse.”

That SEEMS like the logical move, but coaches aren’t pragmatic. I seriously doubt conservative Fox goes that route cuz he doesn’t want to lose. Much like Lovie playing Lach in a meaningless game just to get to .500.

Maybe if we got a hot-shot college coach like Caroll (or Kelly?), this might happen, but I seriously doubt Fox will make any radical changes.

  • beninnorcal

Cheesy should be here any minute to gloat.

  • SEA is 0-2; Ravens are 0-2; Eagles are 0-2 (Colts might be 0-2)

    Hey, we’re in great company!

    • John Doe

But Jags are 1-1 and beat a good Miami team today.

Let’s see how many of these team give Bears company at 0-4. Most people expected Bears to start 0-3. Now that Raiders game does not look like a sure win anymore. Raiders playing good. And with Cutler, Alshon out and bad defense, 0-4 looks very likely.

  • Irish Sweetness

Ahhhh … so it appears Marty Bennett was supposed to sit down on his route … which he did not, he moved at the last second … and Mr. Cutler is not to blame.

So … Uni fucked up, caused the INT … which caused Jay’s bravery … and subsequent exit … which caused us the game.

    Sorry, Jay.

    • John Doe

yeah yeah yeah.. there is always lame excuse for INT man’s boneheaded play and even more dumb decision to play LB after the INT.

      • Irish Sweetness

But if it’s the truth … does that not massively change things ?

        • BerwynBomber

Not really because even if Jay threw it to the spot he was supposed to — and I have doubts — the D player was sitting on the route; i.e., it might have been picked regardless.

Anyway, as I said below, good game by Jay even with the pick. He played well most of the time he was on the field.

          • Irish Sweetness

No, but if it was Bennett’s fault, then Jay was basically perfect last night. I’m reading a lot of guff over on WCG calling for Jay’s head. I’ve rarely seen him play better than he has this year.

          • BerwynBomber

But for the pick he played excellent today.

In terms of the opening Cheese game? Meh. He wasn’t all that productive even after the padding of a semi-garbage time drive and he struggled a bit in the RZ. Was good on third down though. To me it was a mixed bag and even bordered the sub-par.

But yes the Gase offense has looked decent with Jay. Cutler’s not the main problem this year.

      • BerwynBomber

I was okay with the tackling effort. He’s a gamer. And let’s be honest, it’s not like we lost the “franchise”, even if Clausen is a big step down.

Plus, if it’s “only” a hammy he might be back in a game or two.

But man, somehow fitting or indicative of Cutty’s Bears career: a pick six and he injures himself in the process.

        • John Doe

Hamstring talk is pure bs and lie.

Cutler hurt his shoulder on that play.

        • Irish Sweetness

He absolutely had to make that tackle. He’d get reamed for being a pussy if he didn’t. I hate pussies in football.

Case in point. Was listening to Ice Cube talking about Deion Sanders talking about tackling Christian Okoye. He asked Sanders what do you do when you see Okoye break into the secondary? “You make a business decision.”, was his answer.
NO. No you don’t Deion, you f@#$in pussy. You do your job.

#2. Bob Golic. Said he saw Okoye coming through the line at speed one time and he had his arm out to try and stop him, and then did the same thing. Pulled it back in again. Chickened out.

SMFH at these guys admitting these things. They should be ashamed.

          • BerwynBomber

That is why I can never call Deion the best CB ever. Might have been the best pure cover CB ever but his run support sucked.

Still, obviously a hugely valuable player with his kick returning abilities too.

      • Johnnywad

I can only imagine what you would be saying today had he sat back and watched him score without attempting to make the tackle.

    • BerwynBomber

Jay’s a see it and throw it guy. That was a horrible throw. Btw, don’t we always end up here when there is a “miscommunication” on a Jay INT? It’s always the receiver’s fault?

    • Nope. It was definitely SOMEONE’S fault, and we’ll never know who cuz POX isn’t going to throw either under the bus, but Cutler has a LONG history of bonehead throws, so he no longer gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

I’m just gonna assume it’s Cutler’s fault until he stops throwing backbreaking INTs.

What happened last week? Was Casper playing WR when he threw it right to Matthews?

And let me preempt the Cutty apologists. Yes, Wilson threw a brutal pick as well that ended the game, but he doesn’t have a long history of such boneheaded throws.

Cutler, on the other hand…”Lights out”.

  • BerwynBomber

The OAK game could be a huge test for the D as it will be the first game we are facing an average QB. Let’s remember as historically bad as the D was last year, we were only embarrassed by three future HOF QBs (Rodgers, Brady and Brees) and one guy (Romo) who had his best season ever as a pro and finished runner-up in MVP voting. And Palmer may be on his way to that sort of season in ’15.

But if David Carr comes in and lights us up … watch out.

    • David Carr lit up the Ravens who have a pretty good D (better than ours at least).

Carr + Cooper + Murray are dangerous and can score on any play, while Crabtree seems to have some gas in the tank. I watched the Raiders game closely today, and they seem inspired, unlike us.

That might be a much tougher game than ppl imagined.

    • Irish Sweetness

Carr threw 3 TDs and put up 350 yards on Baltimore – he’s clearly a capable QB …. and you know how we make them look. Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper are basically two #1s … the Raiders will be no pushover.

      • Irish Sweetness

Okay, so I wrote exactly what Butch had just written. But it’s true.

  • Ouch.

“But the first of many gaffes – a 42-yard pass-interference penalty against speedster John Brown, the second week in a row he’s been burned for a long penalty leading to a touchdown after failing to turn and
locate the football – was Fuller’s. And for a player identified by Fox this offseason as one of two core defensive players, Fuller wasn’t spared the humility of watching the game’s conclusion from the sideline.

“I just know we gave up 170 yards of penalties in downfield throws. And itwasn’t a mystery that we were going to see some of those,” Fox said of Arizona’s clear directive early to test his secondary deep.

On thenext defensive series, fellow starter Alan Ball was flagged on a similar play, a 38-yard defensive pass interference versus Brown. Arizona would find the end zone three plays later, one of three Larry
Fitzgerald touchdowns, two of which appeared to come with Fuller trailing in coverage.

The Bears finished 2014 ranked 30th in pass defense and 31st in passer rating allowed (101.7). Through two games in 2015, they’ve permitted a rating of 128.0 while recording zero sacks.

“You just got to expect better from yourself, as the group,” Fuller said. “So just got to go in this week and put the work in.”
