Lack signing a one year deal to play Mlb for the Cowboys

    • CanadaBear

Link please. All I can find is Dallas talking about it (more like Dallas media talking about it). Lach would be nuts to sign with Dallas. I’m sure he’d get a raise over his media pay but that D is really going to suck this year. Not to mention the injury risk. Hope he doesn’t sign with them (more for his health than any other reason).

      • Irish Sweetness

Probably Urlacher’s people putting it out there. He’s dreaming. Good luck to him if it happened.

If anyone wants to like a team, so be it…however, some of my friends and peers at my age became Green Bay fans because they won a Superbowl in 1996. At that time, you could only watch Green Bay play if they were on MNF or if they were playing against the Bears because of being in Chicago land…smh

  • gpldan shorting Peppers

Looks like Ed Werder of 4-letter broke the story (probably on a tip from Lack’s agent), and now the Cowboys are moving quickly to dispel it

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/02/report-not-much-interest-in-urlacher-from-cowboys/

  • I don’t want to see Urlacher back and in another uniform. I have successfully scrubbed every image of Jordan as a Wizard out of my brain. Don’t make me repeat the process.

    • For your consideration….

I remember when there was mysterious interest from several teams before Brian got the first, best and only offer for 2 MIL from Phil Emery.

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

I don´t think, even with his huge Ego, he will expose him to a bad injury just for a bunch of bucks, playing in the worst defense of next season.

      • Lach would do it just to try to prove that the Bears were wrong in dumping him.

The problem is, no way does even Jerrah throw more than $2M at Lach, and Lach can’t play for less than that without conceding the Bears were correct, something his ego will never admit.

        • MB30SD

and he’ll get POWNED on the field.

        • Irish Sweetness

    Hill… yes please. Like… yesterday.

  • Trac

Gotta love the rivalry but lately the Cheese have been dominant. I would love to see the Bears win 2 this year. When was the last time THAT happened?

    • MB30SD

as one GB commenter on one of their own blogs very truly stated, without rodgers, that team is dogshit. That’s not a very stable place to be.

    • Big Mike

2007. Bears had a mini streak winning 5 out of 6 from 2005 to 2007.

      • Lovie actually did his stated goal fairly well when it was against Favre. Because the cover 2 was the perfect D for a risk-taking gunslinger.
But the tables turned when Rodgers showed up, though you could argue that was more to do with Capers’ D being perfect for the archaic systems of Martz, Tice, et. al that couldn’t handle exotic blitzes.

        • Big Mike

The decline began in 2008 against Aaron Rodgers as you pointed out. The Bears have a 3-13 record against the Packers since then. With one of those wins, the game where Rodgers was knocked out. So 2-13 against Aaron Rodgers. Pitiful. Absolutely f’n pitiful. That guy has owned the Bears.

          • his stats against Chicago are among the worst against any team in the league. Outside of 2011, when he straight owned everybody, CHI D has held up pretty well against Rodgers.
It’s just that the offense has averaged like 8 points or something ridiculously low against GB from 2010-2012

          • Big Mike

I was about to make that point. I did some math.

            Packers PPG vs League 2008-2013 28PPG vs Bears 23PPG – 16% worse

            Packers oPPG vs League 2008-2013 21PPG vs Bears 16ppg – 26% better
In this case the stats line up with the eye test. The Bears offense was to blame, not the defense. In this case the Bears Defense was 16% better against the Packers, but the Offense was 26% worse.

          • TheBigCheesy

It’s Cutler. 1-9 against Green Bay in his career. 1-8 with the Bears. 11 TDs, 18 INTs. Passer Rating under 65.0.

          • Big Mike

Cheesy, you’ve proven to be inadequate with that comment. It’s by no means Cutler. The Bears offensive line and lack of weapons could not have been overcome by Mr. Rodgers himself. The Pack has had some bad o-lines, none as bad as the Bears, but they have been stacked with offensive weapons for a decade. Bears.. not so much. Devin Hester #1 receiver? Earl Bennet #1 receiver? TE? Cutler’s lost maybe two of those games with poor play. The balance was the result of Tice/Martz/ no talent anywhere.

          • TheBigCheesy

Matt Forte has bossed Green Bay. Kahlil Bell had his day as well. Josh McCown had two of them. The Kyle Orton Bears were 1-1 against Aaron Rodgers (he was also the only one to beat GB with the chiefs in 2011). Brandon Marshall has played well against green bay in his 4 games.

Jay Cutler’s struggles against Green Bay are as clear cut and indisputable as it gets. There really aren’t that many examples in the sport that are as shockingly stark as that. It’s hilarious.

          • TheBigCheesy

And how could I forget…Caleb Hanie!

          • SC Dave

This is, of course, true. So far.

          • Big Mike

Last year Cutler in his only game against GB with an average or better OL Cutler had a 103.8 Rating and an 88.8 QBR. In 2012, when the Bears finally added at least one weapon (Brandon Marshall), In the 2 games he was sacked 11 times. That’s right 11 times. So yeah, Cutler’s stats are shit against Green Bay. But he’s had terrible, terrible teams around him.

          • TheBigCheesy

How about when Jay Cutler ate a shit sandwich during the biggest game in his life and the waterboy came in to pick up the pieces and nearly pulled it off?

Green Bay’s pass defense has been historically bad for the past 3 years and he still can’t figure it out. Literally every other quarterback in the league fucks our shit up on the regular. Except for Jay Cutler. Even Christian Ponder has twice as many 100+ passer rating games than Jay does in half as many attempts.

Will it continue? I don’t know. Part of me thinks it’s almost statistically impossible. But what you’ve seen thus far is abject failure.

          • Big Mike

Even the Vikings had better weapons than the Bears. Can’t throw if you are on your ass or under fire. You have no idea how inept the Bears were offensively. Cutler was desperate and probably frustrated trying to make something happen without anything around him. Cutler isn’t the reason for Bears failures. The Bears have failed him. Why get a guy like him and surround him with shit? I’ll tell you why. Lovie Smith had no concept of how to build an offense and Angelo had shit between his ears for the last 7-8 years. Just saying… Pack’s time is up.

      • Trac

Not sure if Mike Brown or Lovie deserves the credit?

We should nab this guy. Excellent player.

    • #2 overall S according to PFF.

I mentioned him a few threads back. Import the Gmen safeties. Has that ever happened in the nfl, pilfer two starting safeties from another team? Added bonus: already have built in chemistry

I agree with Jeff though. Have Briggs and Peanut in the room when they bring him in.
I think we should wait till after the 53 man cut however. Never know who other teams release.

      • gpldan shorting Peppers

If you wait, you lose him. His situation is bullshit and everyone knows it, and in this league if you can play – you play. This is a league that let Vick play again.

And I don’t think Tucker needs to consult Briggs and Peanut, but that’s a locker room thing.

        • What worries me more is his supposed ‘gang ties’ in NJ. Not sure if that’s just a rumor, but usually where there’s smoke there’s fire, or a 4 foot bong.

I don’t think anyone will pick him up b4 the cuts, but the PotatoSKins might just to stick it to their rivals.

          • gpldan shorting Peppers

He’s also a child support dodger. We need one of those now that Lack is gone.

            BOOM!

His highlight reel gives me wood.

The pick 6 on the Lesbo is where it started.

          • CanadaBear

The guy is a tool but I’d take that play in a heartbeat. He’s not the greatest FS in the world but he beats the shit out of anyone on our roster.

          • Love that a bunch of those highlights were against the Vikes, Pack and Lions. Even one against us in which Alshon whiffed on blocking him.

Has experience chasing the Pistol with RG3 in the division. Shows he can blitz. Covered Gates nicely, proving he can cover bigger TEs. That INT shows he has hand-eye cord, and looks to take them to the house.

Perhaps the most impressive to me was that he showed great awareness sniffing out the run and reverse and hitting the receiver if he gets a finger on the ball. Awareness and aggressiveness – nice combo.

So what happens if we sign him now? We put him on the PUP or something?

  • MB30SD

just a plain and simple ‘fuck yes please! When can you start?” is all the situation needs.

Deal with the other shit later.

    • Will Hill? We’d get him on OCT 19 against MIA (if suspended for 6 weeks). Right around my Bday. Nice Bday present (that is, unless he toacs it up again before that).

    • Big Mike

      • MB30SD

    http://youtu.be/4fbIJ-2IqFc

  • Peanut FTW

Two things scare me about Hill:
1: how do we cover for 6 weeks on three safeties or do we keep 5?
2: his Wikipedia page says that his numbers stunk in college because he was overshadowed by Major Wright! (ick)

    • in regards to 1, he wouldn’t take a roster spot those 6 weeks, so you keep 4 then cut one of them when he’s back.
he’s a solid S, but not a star. Don’t think that’s worth it for half a season then. Learning a new D with a lot of new bodies at S, you’re wasting training camp reps on somebody who won’t be there first 1/3+ of season

      • Big Mike

If I’m not mistaken, suspended guys can participate in OTA, Training Camp etc.

        • yes, the suspension doesn’t begin until the preseason is over. So he uses a roster spot on your 90 (not a problem), but not the 53.

    • Irish Sweetness

Ditch Fails. He’s not starting, he’s never starting, we need a safety that doesn’t flat out suck.

      • CanadaBear

I’ve got a lot of experience with functional drunks. When you’re young it’s pretty easy because you can shake off a hangover pretty quickly. As you get older you have to get wiser (not Budweiser). Make sure you eat, start earlier so you can get to bed at a decent time. Have a job that isn’t too taxing mentally. And some people like Harry (and my dad) never really sobered up so hangovers weren’t really an issue.

      • SC Dave

        $$$ will do that

  • Here’s a seemingly simplistic but perhaps enigmatic question: why do some guys have “big arms” while others don’t?

I mean, it’s not the size, right? (wing span, hand size, etc). There’s plenty of guys who are 6’4 240 with long arms and big hands who can’t chuck it as far as Russell Wilson.

    I wonder what it is.

Kinda like when they analyzed Einstein’s brain, but the arm seems like it would be easier to pin-point.

    • Shady

It’s all physics and mechanics of the throwing motion. Same thing goes for pitchers in beisbol. It’s not the size of the arm per se, it’s all the motion of the ocean…. As MB would tell you.

      • So some guys have a throwing motion which makes the ball go farther? Wouldn’t that mean that a coach can, through mechanics and technique, make anyone a potential QB or pitcher.

Even in pick up ball, we said, “He’s got an arm, so he’s the QB”. I can’t throw for shit, but I had great hands, so I was the WR. I wish I did have an arm

        #mula

        • Shady

Some athletes are able to do things physically that others, even those who are bigger or stronger, simply cannot. It’s not always the big guys who can throw the furthest or hit the longest because if the little guys can master technique, they can have a big advantage over the big guys. So yes, coaches can teach technique to maximize velocity or accuracy, but there are physical limitations that players may not be able to overcome, and sometimes that technique can result in injury. Maximizing the torque or flexiblity of a joint or ligament isn’t always the best idea, especially for the long term health of younger kids.

      • Big Mike

isolating for technique, it’s all about leverage. The ratio of the humerus to the radius/ulna bone has a lot to do with it. All about the elbow as a fulcrum and what not.

        • ah, yes, I could see the physics being more of factor.

Is there an article on this in a Sport’s Science journal?

          Talk about the golden ratio.

Once the Chinese start manipulating dna, they’ll all have big arms…and dongs.

          • Shady

I see how you did that… and I liked it.

          • Golden Ratio: shaft to girth?

            Doc, help us out here.

          • MB30SD

I can post a pic of my junk if that would help?

            Bastard!

          • MB30SD

tendon and ligament. strenght… and some of what mike said, but I personally believe it’s more about the tends and ligs.

    • SC Dave

      Um… technique?

      • It’s not just technique. If that were the case, every single athlete would send his son to “QB Tech” to learn technique to become an NFL QB, though as Shady stated, technique does maximize talent.

Also, every single pitcher/QB has a unique style/form. Cutty could throw it farther backpeddling than Peyton in his prime with a 20 yard head start.

Jamarcus Bust Russell chucked it like 60 yards from his knee on his pro day.

I’m more willing to believe some sort of physical ratio like Big Mike suggested. Maybe something as yet undetected by science, like more neurons, or certain type of muscles, etc.

        Don’t know really.

        • MB30SD

          tendon strength maings. Period.

          #gobiology

          • That’s what she said?

I remember an L.A. sport’s caster got fired for saying that af americans contain an extra calf muscle, and that’s why they can run faster, jump higher, etc.

He sputtered this at a bar, and was probably drunk.

            He got fired.

          • MB30SD

            soooo…. I’m fired?

          • You know what’s funny? I can’t think who that guy was, so I googled it and came across Jimmy Snyder who got in trouble for this:

“The black is a better athlete to begin with because he’s been bred to be
that way, because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into
his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their
bigger thighs and he’s bred to be the better athlete because this goes
back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trade … the
slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could
have a big black kid …[2]”

But Chris Rock argued almost the exact thing later:

          • CanadaBear

Yep. He was the gambling guru on CBS NFL shows. He was like Mel Kiper in his day. Totally full of shit, wrong all the time and was somehow an expert.

          • Cormonster

I could be wrong, but I think Brent Mussburger was the top dog on the pre-game shows back then.

          • AlbertInTucson

Brent hosted THE NFL TODAY with Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder, former Eagle & Ram DB, Irv Cross and, in a ground-breaking “add-some-cheesecake-and-estrogen” move, former Miss America, Phyliss George.

Prior to that the NFL TODAY was hosted, solo, by Frank Gifford.

Showing my age again but, I not only remember when Brent Musberger was the main Sports Anchor at WBBM, I remember him as a sports columnist for Mike Royko’s original print home, The Chicago Daily News.

          • Cormonster

Holy cow! I remember Phyllis, but not Irv Cross. And I don’t remember the Daily News, but I have a couple of books of Mike Royko’s best columns, for the Love of MIke and One More Time. I loved reading Royko’s stuff. I used to get the Tribune almost every day just to read his column and Calvin and Hobbes. When he retired or died I basically quit reading newspapers on a daily basis.

          • AlbertInTucson

Royko pitched for the Trib’s team He seemed to takle it very seriously and didn’t seem very friendly. Jauss pitched for us and was wonderful guy and threw a pary for the team at the endof the season.

          • CanadaBear

Oh yeah. Jimmy was the 2-minute filler with all his picks that were wrong.

          • SC Dave

And he was an even more annoying little prick back then than he is now.

          • AlbertInTucson

            What? Again?

          • AlbertInTucson

Wasn’t that long time Dodger Exec, Al Campanis?

          • Cormonster

I think your right on this. I always had a really strong arm growing up for no reason. I was a little skinny shit, but I was really flexible. I think there is something to your argument. All my baseball coaches tried to turn me into a pitcher, but I wasn’t accurate enough. But I was a good catcher (NTTAWWT).

          • Cormonster

To me catcher is by far the best position to play in baseball, unless you like to stand around a lot. You get to help call all the signals, you get to know every hitter you face really well and what they are good at, and what pitches to call depending on the hitter and situation. On defense it’s the only position that is involved in every play of every game. You have to be on your toes for every play and think about every possible scenario during a game, from throwing a guy inside or outside, high or low, what pitch, whether to throw to first if a guy has too big a lead, and on and on.

          • Catcher is definitely action packed. I was an all-star center fielder, and I LOVED it out there because it’s just you and seemingly acres of grass. It’s almost zen. Plus, as center fielder, you can poach the left/right fielders fly ball if you get there faster.

Short stop was another action packed position, and you better have quick reflexes or you’ll get your head taken off by baseballs zinging right at you. That position requires an almost daredevil mentality.

We had a few injuries, and they moved me to catcher one practice. I did pretty well, and the coach remarked, “Damn, if we knew you were that good at catcher, we would have put you there.” And I thought it was kinda cool (and almost the exact opposite of centerfield), but man they tax your knees. I don’t know how catchers can go years in that position.

          • Cormonster

I think that goes back to the flexibility thing. I never had a problem catching for entire batting practices or games. I always went home filthy, but loved every minute of it. I was never scared behind the plate, but playing 3rd base was way more scary than shortstop.

          • Cormonster

When I started playing catcher my favorite player was Tony Pena from the Pirates. He was a great defensive catcher, and pretty good batter to boot.

          • AlbertInTucson

In my younger days here in the “Old Pueblo”, I played some catcher on a Men’s fast pitch softball team though I was better suited to the outfield. The league level we played in wasn’t all low scoring games. More like adult little league. Lotta fun. I Loved it. Once caught a shutout in a tournament. Very satisfying to catch strike three to end the game and jog out to the mound and tell your pitcher “Great job!”.

That said, after crouching for just a COUPLE of innings, my speed to first base as a hitter, normally good, was MARKEDLY reduced. Never got nicked up too bad settin’ behind the plate receiving 12 inch softballs but hardball catchers take an absolute beating. Look at Joe Mauer. He was getting so beat up the Twins dealt Justin Morneau so they could mover Mauer to first. The Giants look like they’ll soon do the same with Buster Posey. Craig Biggio broke in as a catcher with the Astros. The foul tips and collisions (barreling into the catcher was forbidden in our league) are brutal.

BTW, I know CHICAGO style softball. Played 16″ in Lincoln Park WITH sports writer Bill Jauss’ Chicago Today team and AGAINST Mike Royko and the Trib my last year in town. I still keep a 16″ “Clincher” in the trunk of my car, just in case.

          • Cormonster

Ha ha! Read your other post first. Royko loved his 16″ softball and wrote some poetic columns about it. I couldn’t imagine playing catcher with 80-100 mph stuff coming at you every game. That would be a beating. For that matter, I couldn’t imagine playing infield on a weekly basis playing 16″ softball.
Thanks for the history. I didn’t know Biggio started as a catcher. Biggio and Bagwell were the heart of that team for so many years.

          • AlbertInTucson

I played left and center for that team. Even in the outfield, I didn’t really want that brand new “Clincher” coming my way ’til about the 2nd inning when it had been softened up a bit. A new “Clincher” is like playing ball with a 16″ rock. My buddy, who worked part time at the paper which is how I got involved, played first base. No thank you to that, either. Another game that was big in Oak Park was 14″ softball. Gloves WERE used with a 14″ ball. Out here, fast or slow, it was always 12″. I played slow pitch here up until 2 years ago (at 60) and then hung up the spikes. My once decent softball skills had eroded badly and I was more concerned about not getting hurt. It was time to quit. No regrets.

          • CanadaBear

They tried to make me a catcher when I was 13. I flinched every time someone took a swing. They gave up on me pretty quickly. Played 3rd base and left field in hardball. I pitched in slow pitch softball. Standing 46 feet away the ball gets to you really fast.

I was pitching against what seemed like the ’27 Yankees one night. Lou Gehrig hit a screamer that was so close to my ear I could hear it. My reactions were too slow and I never laid a glove on it. If it had been about 6 inches to the left it would have been a bad, bad thing. I stopped playing after that. I was in my 40’s.

          • AlbertInTucson

But, other that THAY, you really ENJOYED playing the position.

          • CanadaBear

Exactly. I didn’t mind trying it but I’d flinch and drop the ball every time someone would swing and miss. I loved pitching in slow pitch but once my reactions were too slow, uh-oh.

          • MB30SD

Yep. One of my good buddies from HS (still is), our tailback. White guy. Fast as fuck. we were almost exactly the same height/weight, except I carried more of my weight up top and have skinnier legs/ass, and he has the big fast guy legs and ass.

Anyway, I was always stronger than him, but one day we had a big team bench Max competition and he beat me. I was pissed cause he only worked out with 225 and I always went heavy for reps into the 3s. Well on that day like every other day he was just fucking strong man. His tendons and ligaments were just strong even though he wasn’t as muscled as me up top.

From that experience on, I could pick out the guys that were just genetically/naturally strong and which guys had to work harder for it (me).

          • Cormonster

One of my best friends growing up only weighed 170-180, but he held the school record in bench press (over 2,000 students). He didn’t have a big chest, biceps, triceps, or shoulders. He could just lift more than the big fat guys or the roiders. So the coach put him at guard on offense, but he played safety on defense because he was rangey and was the most pure tackler I ever played with. In college he was a much better rugby player than football player because of his pure tackling abilities.

          • I was the opposite. I could throw curveballs and forkballs pretty accurately, but at like 30MPH lol

          • johnnywad

I think the particular angle and position of the tendon and ligament attachment to the joint has a TON to do with it as well.

      • Bender McLugh

wow, a right-leaning libertarian website slams the President?!? STOP THE PRESS.

        • For your consideration….

C’mon Bender, an amusing exercise that i like to conduct at times is to take an outlandish event and switch around the party involved in said outlandshishness then imagine what the public outcry, blowback would be like.

Imagine and admit to yourself the fucking retarded shit that has gone down over the last couple of years in every aspect of this presidency and the markets and insert George Bush into it and tell me with a straight face that left leaning folks would be fine with it.

          • Bender McLugh

yes, I have to agree, but for me this is another non-starter like Benghazi…..AH! I said Benghazi!

          • Bender McLugh

something about this whole Bergdhal mess screams of “hey, look at us! we DO take care of EACH and EVERY soldier!”. That I definitely don’t like.

          • For your consideration….

we’ll see how it plays out. The 5 dudes that were released most likely won’t go back to any day jobs let’s be honest. They weren’t investment bankers before they were captured.
It looks like a Pentagon official already admitted that this guy deserted in a report from several years ago and that’s why they stopped hunting aggressively. Now, how do you sweep this under the rug when you have to charge him with deserting his unit? Do you just let it go?
Guys died searching for this guy. The 5 terrorists they freed were in Gitmo for fucking years and will now have a hand in future lives being lost.
Seriously, if you guys can’t admit by now that this administration is just like every other one you’re not being honest with yourself.

          • CanadaBear

Let’s be honest; big business runs the US. Major corporations call the shots and the politicians deliver the msg. Really sad. It’s the same thing in Alberta.

          • MB30SD

            This

          • For your consideration….

It just gets annoying for me since I don’t really associate with either party. I’m a conservative democrat or a liberal republican I guess would be the closest explanation. The ineptness of the people that ultimately secure power and wield it in the most pedestrian of ways and then play games to keep that power secure is truly disappointing.

I don’t like the precedent of negotiating with terrorists either, but a lot of ppl are in Gitmo for no other reason than being muslim.

I think Colbert sums it up best.

          • For your consideration….

sorry man, there was probably some over doing it in the first few years after 9/11 but the guys that have been there for years and the ones that were just released are the hardest of the hard. Even the afghan gov’t, who fucking hates us, knows they are jumping right back in the fight, coming right out of the penalty box and taking the first slap shot they can. Doughty style.

They are not in there for being muslim.

About 6 or 7 of the 11 bullet points were sourced from left of center journals, such as The Washington Post, CNN, Rolling Stone, and the Daily Beast. Maybe the Koch brothers got their hands in those news organizations now too.

Do we keep the tradition of great WRs going with Devante Parker, 6’3, 208?

Get monstrous at LB again with Benardick McKinney, 6’5, 245, or Maurice Falls, 6’3, 247 ?

Install a 232lb hurdler at RB in 6’1 Todd Gurley?

Our next Dent/Pep …. Mario Edwards Jr., 6’3 294 lbs ? He will be on Youtube doing a backflip, if he’s not already.

Get our future left tackle in this 6’5 320lb Brandon Scherff dude? He looks like Jack Ham.

A slot receiver for Cutty, Jeremy Jones?

Particulars: 5-8, 167, senior – He squats 545 pounds, bench presses 365 pounds and hang cleans 335 pounds. He has been timed in 4.48 seconds in the 40, has a vertical jump of 37.5 inches and a broad jump of 10-foot-1.

Fuck yes! I want our D to be nasty again man. Hells yes!

    • Who’d he fight? Houston vs Long.

That would be a cage match.

I can also imagine some serious boxing going on with Peanut v Bmarsh. They’re both very physical.

      • MB30SD

naw, those two won’t fight. Two leaders. Leaders don’t fight… leaders break shit up… but then give high fives all around for the aggressiveness.

        • Achilles-Hector.
That’s right, I just referred to ancient GK epics.
But yeah, you’re right. Leaders break shit up. I always used to do that. Let them get a little in each other’s face, maybe throw a punch or two. let them blow off steam, but break it up before it gets too serious.

          • MB30SD

yep. I was pretty good at the pre-game speeches in the on-field team huddle… Ray lewis style.

Loved that shit. Was fun being a captain. Also, you got to sit out front and lead stretching so you could fuck with guys by telling them you have this growth the doctor needs to remove, then pulling your balls out. Gets ’em every time!

            BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

          • That movie is “Waiting”. It’s brainless humor, but still funny, and at sometimes gross. If you got time to kill, you should watch it.

It also makes you be VERY nice to the servers from then on lol

          • MB30SD

I’m already nice to servers all the time. Only fucks without souls are mean to servers.

          • Yeah, I’m pretty nice to servers too. I was only a dick once at a rib place. The waiter kept passing us by even though we waived at her. It was like she was going out of her way to ignore us. My mom and sis were getting pissed, and so was I. At the end. They left still left like two bucks even though they were livid. I took the two bucks off the table, and put down a penny.
My mom and sis were surprised cuz usually I’m the one putting down a little extra. Only time I pulled a dick move at a restaurant, but that bitch deserved it.

      • Data (work computer)

IMO that says more about Jennings than Vereen. Conte is still the most likely week 1 starter IMO.

        • MB30SD

          stop that.

We all knew jennings sucks right (I mean he played D for the packers after all)? I believe phil will work some magic and get us a solid starter-level guy off another team’s fallen fruit by opening day.

          • MB30SD

I’m all in… but we need someone for the first 6 weeks… and it ain’t chris fucking conte.

          • Against MIA in week 7…

        • Jennings is dogshit according to most accounts. Not surprised there.
I still think it’ll be Mundy/Conte with Vereen making a serious push.

          • SC Dave

While I’m inclined to agree it assumes Conte is both physically, and more questionably mentally, fit enough to return to the 2012 version. If we get that, we can survive until we draft a safety next year.

Assuming, of course, that the Dline improves as dramatically as we all hope.

          • MB30SD

I’m actually on board with that dave… just two HUGE “ifs” as you mention

          • SC Dave

Agreed, but as you know, I’m pulling for him to at least get back to not sucking balls. It appears he’ll get a chance – whether he is able to do anything with it…. we’ll see.

            Much like with CD.

We’d all be happy, methinks, if those guys can somehow become solid.

    • Trac

Wicked appeals to a wide variety of audiences. It’s more marketed towards pop culture than the typical Broadway show.

If you don’t mind highly irreverent stuff, Book of Mormon.

If you like oldies, Jersey Boys is good. West Side Story is a classic, but you’ll be bored if you don’t typically like Broadway.

I personally recommend Lion King. Some really cool visual stuff there. Beauty and the Beast too, if she’s into Disney stuff.

      • Yeah, I was going to rec Lion King. Heard that was good too.

The problem with most large-scale economic systems is that they ultimate end up under the control of the aristocracy and hence fuck over everyone else.

  • Oh, and Irish, what was that VSO downloader you recommended a few threads back? (or if anyone else knows of any ones that aren’t going to corrupt my comp).

    • Irish Sweetness

Videos from youtube?? Google ‘youtube downloader’…..

      • Yeah. I checked one out, but apparently the reviews had “malware” so I’ll do a little more investigating.

        • Paul Stuart

Freemake video downloader. There’s also a reasonably useful converter app too. I can’t categorically state there’s absolutely zero malware risk, but I’ve been using it for a couple of years now, so far so good…

    • MB30SD

those guys are fucking morons and are just asking to be fucking shot and/or cause a huge gunfight in public.

I have said guns, but would never think of taking them out of their locked cases outside of my house (when i don’t have my kids) or once inside the range. Period.

      Those guys are fucking Idiots.

      • I don’t think the NRA is even condemning them philosphically, but rather pragmatically.

If business begin to ban guns on their property, then what happens? You can carry around a weapon, then when you run in to get a burrito, you gotta leave your AR-15 in the car?

They know this is detrimental for them in the long run.

        • MB30SD

your last sentence is the answer. This doesn’t help their cause, it makes them all look like a bunch of dangerous fucking hillbillies… so ban all guns.

          • Big Mike

Amen. Freebird, murrica, 2nd ammendment (never read it, but fuck yeah, give me my guns)

        • AlbertInTucson

I’m not a “Ban the guns” guy, but if I own a business, I believe I have the right to tell you you can’t come in packin’ heat. Same as “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service”

          • No shirt, No Shoes, No SR-47…

          • Cormonster

You should also have the right as a business owner to allow or not allow smoking.

          • CanadaBear

Don’t agree on that one. 2nd hand smoke is deadly. Other people’s health is more important than someone’s right to smoke themselves to death.

      • Big Mike

The NRA has jumped the shark. I’m a gun owner. My wife has a conceal and carry permit. Her family hunts like they need the food. I grew up in the city. I say that to say I’m not opposed to guns at all. But does that mean people should have closets full of machine guns, 30 round clips? Does it mean that it’s easier to buy a gun at a gun show, than it is to rent a car? I don’t know the answer, just a rant. But at some point in time we sacrifice our “rights”, for the greater good.

  • Me likery…

“Houston is especially excited about teaming with Allen, a five-time
Pro Bowler who has averaged 14.5 sacks over the past seven seasons,
never registering fewer than 11 during that span. Allen’s 128.5 sacks
over 10 seasons with the Chiefs (2004-07) and Vikings (2008-13) are the
most by any player since he entered the league and the 12th most in
    history.

“I think we’ll develop a great chemistry,” Houston said.
“He’s got the most knowledge of football I know. The guy’s had [128.5]
sacks. You can’t ask for more than that just to get to sit with him
every day and talk about football and understand different things about
the game. It’s a blessing really.”

    http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1/Houston-impressed-with-work-ethic/2299ba75-cac5-4415-b7d2-9f2fdd739a1c

Mullet-man imparting knowledge. Hopefully those small tips will convert Houston’s pressure into sacks.

    • one of the things I like about Allen over Peppers: attitude and effort. Hopefully that will wear off on the young guys a little bit.

Pep never wanted to be a leader. He wanted to do his own thing, mind his own business, and have everybody leave him alone. Allen is different.

      • CanadaBear

No knock on Pep but for the kind of money he was getting, a little rah-rah and support should be part of the pkg. Oh well.

I’ve always disliked Allen due to the stupid calf roping move and playing to the crowd. I really started to dislike him intensely when he cheap-shotted The Chief. Hopefully he will make up for that.

      • For your consideration….

Pep totally bought in to Lovie an Marinelli ….. and totally checked out when they were shown the door.
He will kill it in GB but he’s a baby for being a bitch his last year here.

        • I don’t think Pepp will kill it in GB. He’ll give them 3 games, then disappear the rest of the year.

Unfortunately 2 of those 3 will be against us probably.

          The other one…magic 8 ball says…Lions.

          • Big Mike

I hate Green Bay. Favre> Rodgers. Lighting strikes twice and the whole state of Wisconsin thinks they aren’t ice skating rednecks.

          • MB30SD

            Funny today mike.

No way is farve better than googly eyes.

          • CanadaBear

Don’t agree about Favre being better than Rodgers. Totally agree about how lucky they were to have Rodgers drop in their lap. Give them credit for picking him but that was as close to a no-brainer as it gets. The only other team I can remember having back to back HOF’ers at QB was SF with Montana and Young.

          • Big Mike

I didn’t mean Favre better than Rodgers. I meant from Favre TO Rodgers. They were lucky to get Favre, lucky to get Rodgers.

          • CanadaBear

Gotcha! At least now we have a competent QB who may take another step this year. Back in the day, with all those terrible QB’s vs Favre (about 20 different guys) and then Rodgers falls in their lap … Unreal!

      • I just hope Allen has at least 2 good years in him. He never really relied on insane athleticism like Pepp, but when the greats fall off, they seem to dive off a cliff.

We get two good 11+sack years while holding up against the run and transferring knowledge, that would be a win in my book.

        • he’s only 32. Most edge rushers really fall off at 33 or 34. I think he can be a 10-11 sack guy the next 2 years, and then his guaranteed $$ is done.

          • Cross fingers. When you hit 32-ish, you’ll understand my consternation lol

    • also worth mentioning I’ve heard 2 different reporters say the fight started today because Allen and Houston were going harder than the offensive guys, and that pissed some of them off (most notably Bennett).

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — A brief skirmish broke out at Tuesday’s organized team activity during a team drill between members of the Chicago Bears’ starting offense and defense. Involved in the short-lived fracas was defensive end Lamarr Houston, right tackle Jordan Mills, tight end Martellus Bennett and defensive end Jared Allen.

Teammates quickly intervened to end the fight, but not before Bennett slammed his own helmet to the ground in frustration.

    • AlbertInTucson

I believe it’s common knowledge that on the Bears last two Championship teams, the offense and the defense were teammates but not necessarily “buddies”. For sure in ’85 they were “Buddy’s”. Bill Wade readily admits the ’63 defense was often disrepectful of the offense wisecracks like “hold ’em” as the offense took the field.

      • Big Mike

        Buddy Ryan is an asshole

        • MB30SD

but a damn good and visionary DC

He also had 7-8 Pro Bowl players and few Hall of Famers

          • MB30SD

so he didn’t have a hand in ‘making’ at least some of that?

  • “Forte ranks No. 3 since 2008 in yards from scrimmage (6,666 rushing yards and 2,919 receiving).

When Forte puts up at least 100 yards rushing, the Bears are 17-3.”

    http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post/_/id/4692497/forte-looking-to-build-off-13

Isn’t Forte religious? 6,666 probably doesn’t sit too well with him. Mark of the BEEEAAST. Yes, indeed.

We should give a prize if someone guesses those 3 games we lost when Forte ran for 100+

    • Week 17 against GB was one. I think there’s one other GB game too

      • MB30SD

fucking green bay… god damn it.

  • ok, I cheated. Forte’s 3 100+ losses:

    1) Week 17 against GB this year. IMO possibly the best game of Forte’s career.

    2) Week 13 at MIN. Thanks Josh McCown! (and run D letting AP go off)

    3) 2011 week 5 at Detroit. The MNF game when DET rolled to 5-0 before resorting to their usual shitty selves for the next 2.5 years (and counting).

    • In Forte’s first 3 years (2008-2010), Bears were 8-0 when he hit 100 yards rushing.
Prior to last years’ shit-tastic D, they were 14-1 when Forte hits 100 yards.
