• First to say, welcome back, Rev. Told you our Run D would get you back to form.

    • Frank Schoenburg

      I enjoyed the rant.

  • I think Marshall will play, though how effective he’ll be is another question.
Much more skeptical about Alshon. I think he’s sitting.

    • Sactowns#1

I think both will play and both will dominate a couple of benchwarmers.

      • Frank Schoenburg

Yes. I completely agree. Williams and Bellamy are replacements for Spurlock and Morgan.

    • Trac

Attaboy cuddo’s for a Bear related post on the young season. This last week has been brutal for oh so many reasons.

      • SC Dave

Thumbs up even though you did something odd with kudos 🙂

        • Trac

          Auto spell ?

  • MB30SD

From jeff’s tweet. this is scary shit. The NFL is the new maffia. jesus

    http://deadspin.com/bill-polian-disagrees-with-bill-polians-insider-opinion-1633593081

    • BerwynBomber

Wow, that is interesting. Also of note is how ESPN is scooped on seemingly everyone of these “beyond sports” stories by the likes of Deadspin and TMZ. Makes me think their reporters, especially a guy like Mortensen, are just flacks for the league.

      • MB30SD

as in politics and big biz…. nothing would surprise me. When real life is scarier than the movies… yikes.

      • CanadaBear

You know Berman is a total shill for the league.

  • MB30SD

also, we’re seriously destroying people’s careers and lives over something like this?

    http://deadspin.com/heres-the-full-racist-scouting-report-on-luol-deng-1634118894

    • CanadaBear

The report is ridiculous. If someone working for me wrote that report, there would be a meeting for sure. It’s bad enough with all the racist stuff in it but the report doesn’t really say anything about his BB skills.

      • MB30SD

        meh.

        • CanadaBear

Would you accept a report like that? The racism is troubling but for me the whole report looks like it was written by a drunk at the bar.

          • MB30SD

I have no clue about any of the backstory. If that was the ONLY report on the guy ever, then yeah, it was total garbage and I ask the guy WTF he’s doing.

But to me it sounds like the appropriate punishment is a slap on the wrist and some sensitivity training and don’t ever doing something so fucking moronic again or you’ll be out.

          • CanadaBear

I agree with that but if you hand in reports like that you should get called on the carpet. He must be a gigantic knob.

          • MB30SD

no idea if he is or isn’t… sounds like a definite yes though

          • Trac

I don’t get the sensitivity training thing. It’s garbage. Chastise, shun and rebuke I say. Much more effective.

        • CanadaBear

Trust me, I’m about as far from being a puritan as it gets. I’m a totally live and let live kind of person. However, if someone is working for me they are going to hand in professional reports with facts and no gossip. I wouldn’t fire somebody for the first report but if it didn’t improve, uh-oh.

        • DaMurph

I’m not even sure what to make of the small snippets of information we all get and then jump on the bandwagon toting the hangmans noose. I read that report and Im not sure Id even label it racist. Stereotyping, but racist? Meh. Ray Rice, an elevator snippet of one quick short clop, hell, im not sure if she was out or just playing to make him feel bad. if she was out he should take up boxing because he has quite a punch there, if he had wailed on her putting lumps all over another story. He obviously has no history of abusing women, because if he did the ex girlfriends would be crawling out of the woodwork for some free publicity. AP, very much cultural, its how he was disciplined and probably a very large percentage of people from the south found their butts on the wrong end of a switch. It doesnt take much force to put scratches on bare skin especially with some rough tree bark on a branch. Im not defending bad behavior, Im just pointing out how quick we are to lynch and ruin someone without truly knowing all the facts.

          • Trac

Up vote with a disclaimer. Decking a women like I saw on the Rice video cannot be rationalized unless he’s being pursued by a weapon wielding women. Yes I know, every women has a sharp tongue but that doesn’t count.

          • DaMurph

Never said what he did was right, Im saying this punishment doesnt fit the crime. If he had history, if he had continued to pummel her and beat the shit out of her then yes.He doesnt and he didnt.

          • Trac

            Gotcha Murph.

          • Shady

You’re right. He just drags her unconscious body halfway out of the elevator, kicks her and then stands over her like an animal.

          • Shady

“Ray Rice, an elevator snippet of one quick short clop, hell, im not sure if she was out or just playing to make him feel bad.”

You can’t be cereal Murph. Her head hit the steel railing on the way down.

“It doesnt take much force to put scratches on bare skin especially with some rough tree bark on a branch.”

Those weren’t just scratches Murph. Did you even see the pictures?

            SMFH

          • DaMurph

Yea i did see the pics Shady, and yeah I think he didnt have to hit the kid that many times, but once again we are only going by pics that are not verified. One grand jury failed to indict so they went for another which says they were out to get him. Yeah she did hit her head and thats what im getting at, the clop on the side of the head didnt knock her out, yeah maybe the elevator railing did. Ive seen kids beat to shit and women too, but in my book neither wrongs deserve the condemnation they are getting, and yeah I am cereal, how the fuck do you know she wasnt puttin on an act? Im not sayin she was or wasnt, Im saying we dont fucking KNOW! SMFHEM

          • Shady

Just so we’re clear, you believe Janay Rice faked her own unconsciousness and the week old photos of the lacerations to Peterson’s 4 year old son’s legs and groin are fake too? I understand not wanting to jump to conclusions, but your arguments are ridiculous at best. You should be embarrassed, Murph. I’m embarrassed for you.

          • DaMurph

NOOOO, Thas not what i said or wrote, I stated I or we or YOU dont KNOW what happened. I threw other possibilities out there. The purpose of my post was to point out how quickly people pile on without knowing the facts for sure! Please dont be embarrassed for me, I dont fucking need it Shady, you are like the rest of those cocksuckers, ready to jump on me when either you dont understand or didnt read what I said. You dont fucking know me so dont think you can be embarrassed for me!!!! Just so we’re clear!!

          • Shady

That’s exactly what you said, I even put it in quotations for you. And yes, we do know what happend in these cases. There is evidence to prove it. If you want to draw outlandish and ridiculous conclusions based on that evidence, that’s your call man. I’m just saying what you wrote was fucking stupid and you should be embarrassed.

          • DaMurph

Well Im not fucking embarrassed and i dont give a fuck what you think, and if we meet when MB comes to town, call me stupid to my face and we will go from there!

          • Shady

Don’t forget to bring your switch.

          • bearsfantillend

does the blogfather need to hand out a couple timeouts?

          • MB30SD

            stop this both of you!

You are both my children… you disagree. you come from diff eras. It’s all ok. justice will be done based on the final evidence.

          • bearsfantillend

not sure being hit by a switch is that cultural or only associated with a specific part of the country.. i am from central Illinois and i’ve gotten the switch a couple times. For you guys from Chicago, everything south of I-80 is not considered the South. A ‘switch’ is not just any old branch of a tree, usually it is a branch that is fairly flexible so that it acts more like getting hit with a whip, or an electrical cord. Willow Tree branches make good switches. The thinner the branch the more painful it is, and the more damage it can do.

I personally don’t see an issue with using it as a form of punishment, a good hit or two is all that is needed. With that being said, there are times that a whooping/switching is deserved and the other times a ‘timeout’ or grounding as punishment will suffice.

Looking at the pictures of what AP did was too much no matter what the kid did. It appeared the kid was hit a dozen times or more, which is excessive. The most times i was ever hit for a single punishment was 3 times, yes it will leave a mark, yes there are rare times it will break the skin. It gets the point across very quickly what is acceptable behavior and what is not. I feel it is a form of punishment that should be used very sparingly and the ‘crime’ should fit the punishment because sometimes a ‘timeout’ just doesn’t get the point across.

          • DaMurph

Not south of 80, maybe south of Indy and Springfield. hahaha

    • BerwynBomber

I’ve long thought Ferry was a douche so I can’t get too worked up defending him. Anyway, doesn’t sound like his career is being destroyed. A leave of absence probably means he’ll return once the smoke clears.

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

Seriously bummed about the AP shit. Another all time great RB bites the dust.

Repost from the last thread in memorandum of Yonny’s balls:

..His balls were a good balls. Never heard his balls say a negative word. I’ll always remember those times when ol’ Johnny would force them boys into a lake full of icy cold glacier water. Them boys would retreat up into their sanctuary and wouldn’t come out til Johnny had ’em resting on the sofa the next morning. But ya know, they always came back out for a good taint-slappin’. Yep, them balls were a good balls

  • EnderWiggin

I think you Chicago folks may get to see some Aurora Borealis this weekend. That is something that most people take for granted. I hope to see it before my time is up.

    • headed to iceland in november for my honeymoon to see it. should be wondrous.

    • CanadaBear

Hoping to see it here on Vancouver Island. It truly is amazing to see.

      • johnnywad

Spent my home honeymoon on South Pender Island CBear. Not far from there. Loved it.

        • CanadaBear

Yeah, that’s really close to where we live. I’ve been on Salt Spring Island a few years ago. I’m pretty sure we’ll visit a bunch of them by bicycle once we get a little more settled.

    • MB30SD

it’s on my bucket list. Think I want to see it where Ev is… also, I hear weemangs there are smoking.

      • i wonder if the wife will be as excited by them as i’ll have to pretend not to be.

  • huntinbare

I am hoping we see the Aurora Borealis sparking from Harbaugh’s cranium late tomorrow night.
Since training camp opened we have been taking a beating from the “injury gods”. Players who wanted to make it, couldn’t make it because they got injured and cut because of it. Then the ones who made it , because of injury are bearly making it or can”t make it so….. we went back and picked up the guys who because of injury din’t make it…and now they are being forced to make it.
I spent a lot of time thinking what it was like for the 49ers as they planned their D for this game. Do they expect Mr. Forte to be a more dominant focus for our offense; are they taking our passing game too lightly?
My feeling is let them prove they can stop Mr. Forte before we go to a short but effective passing game; long ,steady, methodical ,time consuming, error free drives for points every trip.
My biggest wish after a victory, which I sense will happen…is to come away unscathed.

  • MB30SD

    Watching the Bama game…

Keeping my eye on # 26 landon Collins.

    Our new fs maybe? Mmmmm?

    • DaMurph

You now that aint happening MB, anything we really want we aint gettin! Im getting the feeling Phil likes doing what no one else expects him to do. If our first round corner can play, put him in because I hate to say it, our man Peanut has seen better days. If Fuller isnt a better option that Tillman right now, we once again didnt grab the right player. IMO

      • huntinbare

I have seen Kendall Fuller #11 from west virginia the past 2 weeks and for a sophmore he is stout, with blanket coverage. Great technique.
        http://www.hokiesports.com/football/players/fuller_kendall.html

        • Shady

Virginia Tech. Younger brother of Bears 1st round pick Kyle Fuller.

          • huntinbare

thanks for cleaning that up for me. My in-laws are from Ohio so I saw that whole Ohio State debacle; so I took the time to see If Virginia Tech was for real and looked in today; but they got blown out on both sides of the ball in todays 1st half and could not recover. But he played well in a loss.

  • huntinbare

I enjoyed the appocolyptic rant this week; being a fan of ranters I often wonder if they have similar genetic conditioning. The link below is from another of my favorite “ranters”. No disrespect to the rev. but everytime I hear either of them I wonder if they are related…………….**** warning you may not like the subject matter; but he has become one of my favorite comedians.******

    • Cormonster

I agreed with most of the rant, minus the climate change / global warming part. That’s the biggest government / media scam in my lifetime.

      • huntinbare

He just makes me laugh ….I think it is the delivery…he could be commenting on the phone book….I would still get a chuckle….His perspective is revolutionary; I don’t think he is ready for solutions from the status quo….My big concern regarding the planet is the health of our air and water and topsoil…from everything I can understand …pollution and toxicity

        • Cormonster

Totally agree with you about the air, water, soil, and pollution.

Glad to see you back posting and to hear the news about your son stepping out on his own and making the big transition.

          • huntinbare

Thanks …his life is much richer now that he has broadened his horizon….My wife and I could only take him so far…after almost a year he has changed in ways we could not make happen.

  • DaMurph

Crazy John Shoop the OC of Purdue, I did not know that.

  • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

You can thank me later. I’ll explain this post on Sunday night after the game.

    • I can explain it now: Tradewind

      • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

I downed the biggest TradeWind and Coke of all time and bet 200.00 that the 49ers win straight up. Given the fact that i am the worst gambler of all time Cutler will now proceed to throw for 400yds and we’ll look like the Bears D of old. it’s a lock.

I had to do it. I just made Bellamy and Holmes household names in Chicago and got Cutty his steakhouse……

        • Shady

The moneyline on the Chicago/San Francisco game is Bears +240 Niners -300, meaning you could bet $100 on the Bears and win $240, or bet $300 on the Niners and win $100. If the Niners win, your $200 bet would only net you around $66. Hope your jinx works, cause I would imagine after collecting on that winning ticket you’d be buying another few handles of TradeWind anyway.

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

            Oh, the jinx will work

          • SC Dave

Thanks in advance for taking one for the team!

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

I’m happy to do it….wife not as happy

        • SC Dave

          Hope jay fuckin appreciates it

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

He does, I spoke with him. He wanted me to tell you that he’s personally sorry that he threw that interception on that play. He will work even harder to make you proud.

  • Trac

Any of you guys ever raise a squirrel? I had to cut down a tree a couple of weeks ago and I found a baby. It’s pretty cool. It just opened its eyes today. By the way MB, blind squirrels don’t eat nuts, they drink milk. Haha.

    • MB30SD

      JA?

You don’t feed it either, you call animal services and let them deal with it.

      Homewrecker!

    • Cormonster

Be careful. A friend of mine growing up tried to raise a few squirrels, and they got vicious after a couple months. They acted like wild animals!

      • MB30SD

      • Trac

Yeah that’s what I hear Cor. We r letting it go as soone as it can eat nuts.

        MBs nuts. Ha ha.

        • MB30SD

I have a pet squirrel trac. Know what it eats?

          Deez….

  • huntinbare

    Withstanding the 49rs “WHAM”……Flatbread alert….Linebacker warning!

LA punks about to beat those good ‘ol texas boys… huh Trac?

    I like mora man.

    • MB30SD

      BOOM!

Not sure this has been posted in a thread; but it sounds like an extremely costly security network for the NFL to run.
