First take care of the football, then go out there and kick some Dolphin tail. Da Bears!

    • tobijohn

And because it’s the Dolphins and I’m in South Florida, it’s a local broadcast which means I get to watch the game like a normal human on a real TV rather than a crappy internet pirate feed with a million popups…

      • CanadaBear

This is the first game this year that isn’t on free TV for me. Fortunately I popped for the NFL pkg. I really dislike going to sports bars and avoid it whenever I can. I spent $200 on the pkg. I easily spent that in sports bars each year. I can’t watch those shitty feeds.

        • tobijohn

You’d definitely end up spending more than that at a sports bar in a season. If you’ve got company and both are drinking and eating, you’d spend more than that after maybe three games…

          • CanadaBear

Exactly. Plus I don’t drink so it’s not real enjoyable for me sitting in bars. Once the game was over I was outta there in record time. REALLY hate being around drunks (for obvious reasons).

          • tobijohn

Same boat. Once I quit drinking (about twenty-six years ago). bars became incredibly boring and drunk folk became extremely intolerable…

          • CanadaBear

My Beloved Bride likes to have a few drinks occasionally so I’m in restaurant lounges sometimes. Rarely are people really hammered. If we go to a bar/club to see a band, different story. I’m guessing it’s a combination of being a recovering Catholic and a recovering alcoholic but seeing foolish drunks brings back a flood of bad memories and guilt. Not real conducive to a great time!

          • Scott W.

It’s embarrassing to me, that 11 years ago, I was those guys. Very embarrassing. So i hear you and Tobi loud and clear.
I love being sober, even on really bad days.

          • Big Mike

I conduct my foolishness in the privacy of my own home 🙂

          • AlbertInTucson

I could walk there if need be and never have more than 2 adult bevs and none after half time.

Last week was a double Bloody Mary, extra olives, followed Iced Tea with half a dozen beef taquitos. It came to 12 bucks and change plus a “Fin” for the cute bar maid. Plus, the good company of my “Bear Friends at the Bar” who have no problem with me pointing, loudly, out the occassional deficiencies of the zebras and you cannot put a price on that.

Been going there since the mid 1990s and the next fight I see break out over a game there will be the first.

          • CanadaBear

That’s awesome Al! I had to go to a huge sports bar in Calgary. Nothing really fun about it at all. Very impersonal and the Beloved was never the main game so there was never any sound (sometimes a good thing) for that game. The food was mediocre, at best. The waitresses were young and cute and always nice. They always got a good tip. Since I was drinking pop they would charge me for the first one and the rest were free. I always made sure to order some food so my bill wouldn’t be $3. Really not fair to the bar or the waitresses to sit there for 3 hours and not spend more than that. Never saw a fight there but plenty of screaming and yelling at the TV’s. Also, the place had off track betting so there were always a bunch of degenerate gamblers floating around.

      • haha I know the feeling Tobster. But as I reminded you last season, use Firefox + Adblock Plus to prevent most of those pesky pop-ups. Works for porn too, so I heard…

        • tobijohn

I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder…

  • AlbertInTucson

No trip to the local tavern today. It’s CBS’s morning game here in Tucson.

    A MUST WIN, I submit,

  • CanadaBear

On the left Cortland Finnegan (image reversed), on the right Darby O’Gill (king of the Leprechauns).

    • AlbertInTucson

Yes on the left you are correct, but on the right, is The Leprchaun King, Brian.
Darby O’Gill captures King Brian in DARBY O’ GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE. A Disney film that also co-starred a pre-007 and singing , Sean Connery.

      • CanadaBear

I should have known I would fuck that up. I haven’t seen the movie since it came out (1959). My dad took us to the drive-in and it scared the hell out of me. Of course, I was 7 so that might have had something to do with it. Thanks for setting me straight Al!

        • AlbertInTucson

Yeah, I was about that age too and I found the Banshee coming to collect dead souls pretty scary.

          • CanadaBear

I remember my sisters were pretty taken with Sean Connery.

          • I’ll take dago slurs for 500, Alex.

            [hulu id=12203]

  • GPLDAN

Fury is good. Tyler Durden as WW2 tank commander.

  • In Cortland Finnegan’s defense, he DOES like starting shit, so yeah, the name fits.

    Bear down!

    • CanadaBear

I was hoping Andre smacked Finnegan with his helmet. One of those across the temple would have gotten his attention.

  • Good 1-5, Jeff.
    I got my own.
    1. NO TURNOVER CUTTY needs to show up NOT Bill’s/Pack/Panther’s Cutty.
    2. STOP Miller. Make Tannenhill win. He’s bound to melt-down.
    3. Take a long shot early, loosen up Fin’s D for the run.
    4. RUN! Don’t stray from Forte. Feed him even if it doesn’t get chunks (see #1)
    5. Interior pass rush must funnel Tannenhill out since DEs will be mostly playing contain.

Things old Butch is gonna keep an eye on.

    1. LB play. How will this corps look compared to last week. MIA has a better Oline and HB, and a dual threat QB who can PA/Bootleg
    2. Vereen starting at S. We all know the drill.
    3. Energy level. Bears seem to come out on snooze at home for some reason.

  • According to Albert Breer, Vincent Jackson might be on the trade block.
Now, I could give a small fuck about him, but that might mean the Bucs are having a fire sale.
They have a lot of good talent on D which can help us.
    1. DT Geral McCoy
    2. FS Dashon Golston (they also have Major Wright who Lovie wouldn’t mind staring I think)
    3. SS Mark Barron.
    4. WLB Lavante David

    http://www.buccaneers.com/team-and-stats/depth-chart.html

Anyone one of those guys would be a huge upgrade over what we have now and going forward.
Gotta remember, Lovie inherited those guys, and if he can let Revis go, he can let anyone go to shape the roster after his own image. Plus, obviously, he has Bears’ ties, which is huge in the trade-world.

    • Big Mike

      Gerald McCoy a huge upgrade?

      • He’s a true disruptive 3-tech. Might be the 3rd best in the league behind Suh, Atkins.
Paea and the rooks are still unknowns. McCoy isn’t.

  • Shady

    bwahahahaha

  • Bears declared WLB Lance Briggs, FS Chris Conte, DB
Terrance Mitchell, S Ahmad Dixon, LB Jon Bostic, OL Charles Leno, and DE
Trevor Scott inactive for Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Khaseem Greene will start on the weak side in place of
Briggs. Brock Vereen will make the start at free safety. The Bears are
    relatively healthy.- Rotoworld

    • Didn’t find anything about who else is starting.
      DJ is starting, but where?
Hopefully, Sharpton at MIKE and D.J. at SAM.

The other option is D.J. at Mike and Shea/Jones at SAM, though I don’t like the idea of sitting Sharpton.

      • Big Mike

Chicken Dinner will most likely start

        • Ugh. Is this part of the “no one gets demoted by injs” or is Shea just going to “start” on paper, and be subbed out for most of the game?

I can’t believe they would sit Sharpton.
Greene, DJ, Shea is just about the worst LB lineup we could trot out.

          I’d prefer
          Briggs, Sharpton, DJ/Jones.

    • Big Mike

Relatively healthy? Safety, 2 LBs and #1 CB are out. Damn, I’d hate to be banged up in their book. Oh wait Rotoworld. Only offensive players count

    • On the flip side:

Dolphins declared WR Brandon Gibson, DB Jimmy Wilson, OG
Shelley Smith, OT Jason Fox, DT Anthony Johnson, OG Billy Turner, and TE
Gator Hoskins inactive for Week 7 against the Bears.

Gibson (hamstring, probable) is basically a healthy
scratch. Rookie Jarvis Landry has pulled away from Gibson for slot
duties, and Gibson doesn’t play special teams. This will be Gibson’s
final year in Miami after ex-GMJeff Ireland handed him a three-year,
$9.755 million deal two springs ago. Samson Satele will start at center
for the Dolphins, with Mike Pouncey likely playing right guard. – Rotoworld

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Bear the fuck Down, men.

    • Cormonster

      Bear down!

  • Where dee heck is everyone? At the game, at the bar, walking around aimlessly?
Mb’s probably at Legoland or something, so he’s excused.

    • Scott W.

      Here. Desk 22.

  • underway

baffled at that call on 3rd and 1. Sustained offensive drives damnit….

    • Typical Trestman.
He’ll come up with some bullshit stat to back it up.
I can already hear Cutty post game.
“Well, uhm, you know, Alshon was one-on-one, and we throw that every time, even if it’s 3rd and inches”

I’m all for taking shots, but not when we only need 1 yd, no matter how many guys they’re blitzing. Or take a slant. Higher percentage.

      • SC Dave

Alshon catches it and its a billiant call.. smh

        • We’re at midfield. We need ONE yd. If you don’t want to run it, take a slant, dump-off, screen.
          Something HIGHER percentage.
Take a shot on 2nd and short.

  • And that is why I wanted Briggs to start this game.
Who the hell fell at WILL? Pls tell me it was Shea.

    • underway

it was. They look a step slow…..

      • Scott W.

See previous. I do not, will not EVER get the shea commitment. Ever.

        • 505Bears

Affirmative action? They always need a white lb to appease the suits?

          • Scott W.

That, or he has pictures of Emery in compromising situations.

  • Scott W.

Sure glad we sat Sharpton. Old CD sure knows how to cover in space…#/! $&*(=××

  • 505Bears

Why the fuck do we insist on playing chicken nugget McClellan? He sucks!!

    • Scott W.

Yes. He does. As I said 2 threads back, he’s carimi on d.

    • FantuzPhysics

You saw their breakdown of the play that blamed Fuller right?

      • 505Bears

Even if it was zone, he didn’t carry the receiver…slips are just excuses…yup, gonna be a hard drinking day

        • FantuzPhysics

          I hear that.

  • Scott W.

On fact, I’d be all for trading him for Carimi, then waiving Gabe.

  • FantuzPhysics

Bad pass by Jay to Carey

  • underway

    anybody miss podlesh?

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

      i think jeff does. LOL

  • Scott W.

So far, our offensive game plan looks like we are making it up on the fly.

  • These LBs are getting KILLED with PA!

    • underway

sad part is, the run game OTHER than Tannehill is nonexistent..

  • Scott W.

The turf is our defensive player of the game so far.

    • underway

      firstdown turf.

    • 505Bears

Was there a lot of rain in chi this week?

      • Scott W.

No. Field actually in decent shape (my brother is there) for Soldier Field.

  • underway

soooo, we didnt pick up where we left off last week. Lets see how we adapt…

  • 505Bears

Bears need to stay in/practice in omaha and travel to chicago like it is an away game…can’t win at home

    • Scott W.

Heh! Funny stuff in a sad way…

  • 505Bears

    Ratliff/Houston at least showed up

  • That CB blitz didn’t work.

    • 505Bears

      That anything didn’t work

  • Jesus, what D was THAT? NO LBs in the middle

    • underway

      greene was lost

  • Scott W.

Wow. The dolphins aren’t playing great at all, but they don’t have to.

  • Let me guess. MIA some sort of play across the middle to abuse the LBs again.

  • Scott W.

Our defensive game plan seems to be run around, see if fate brings us to the ball.

    • 505Bears

      Like a peewee team

  • 505Bears

Meantime GB is throttling Carolina…fuck sakes

  • underway

atleast the Dline is playing o.k.

  • RenoBear

    Ratliff is KILLIN IT!!!!

  • FantuzPhysics

    Ratliff…3 sacks already

    • That was a great play. They’re playing the moving pocket.
I noticed Allen too is containing. I sorta expected that (read below/above)

  • RenoBear

There we go boys… Let’s go get some poknts

    • Scott W.

Yeah. Get it up Jay, time to punk the secondary.

  • Shady

    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog
    Turf is embarrassing.

I agree. It’s completely embarrassing. It helps no one.

    • Scott W.

Hell, the chunks are only softball sized. Seen it a lot worse.

    • 505Bears

Why is the turf always shitty? Proximity to the water?

      • Shady

lol, no. It’s because the Bears use a field owned by the Chicago Park District.

      • Scott W.

        Proximity to indifference.

  • RenoBear

Let the play happen ref… Fuck man

  • 505Bears

    Black uni!! Use him more

  • Have no problem with that deep shot to Alshon on 1st

  • Turnover Cutty here.
    Gonna be a long day.

  • Shady

It looked like Homes was wide open on that INT.

  • FantuzPhysics

Jay. You had space. Get 2 yards man! Darn.

  • underway

please tell me that throw was not to Bennett? NO FUCKIN WAY…

  • RenoBear

    Fuck

  • 3rd and short. Go long. Of course.
It’s not as if Forte just ripped off 8 yards.

  • SC Dave

    Ring ring… wake up jay

    • 505Bears

Didn’t stay at a holiday inn…his ol lady didn’t wake his ass up

  • 505Bears

I have no words…if my posts become increasingly more incoherent, blame the bears..they force me to drink

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Here we go again.

Failed bomb momentum killing field position wasting on 3rd and 1 early and then a pick on .3rd and two. Morherfuck.

  • All day, over the middle.
Why aren’t we starting Sharpton, Greene again?

    • underway

because they played a good game last week.

      • Scott W.

Yep. That, and you know, Shea is the best player at LB Emery has ever seen…

  • underway

I am conviced, we are a true Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde team… I have no fuckin idea who is gonna show up. They are fuckin with my emotions…

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Mother. Fucker.

    • 505Bears

      I have been called worse

  • RenoBear

I fucking hate the way we always make average and below average QBs look like pro bowlers. Makes me sick and it’s been going on since forever

    • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

      FOREVER!

    • SC Dave

      Its called a pass rusb

      • RenoBear

No shit… And it’s been going on forever even during the ‘Glory’ days of the ‘vaunted’ 06 team

    • Scott W.

Thank DeCamilis. He sat Greene and Sharpton, with Trestman’s blessing. What utter stupidity.

  • 505Bears

    Need 7 before half

  • 505Bears

Haha…boo birds are out…should have bought ticks to the hawks

    • Shady

Hopefully Waffle is pouring TW alll over their mark asses.

      • 505Bears

He may be too disgusted to care

  • RenoBear

This fuckin team kills me. The unevenness fucking kills me. I hate not knowing who is showing up

    • tobijohn

      Inconsistency is so frustrating…

    • Scott W.

Sometimes, very wierdly, they play like they believe they suck.

  • Jesus, Cutler.
The D is outplaying the O, again, and that’s not saying much.

    • Scott W.

3 sacks today. We just have zero smarts behind the d line.

  • RenoBear

C’mon 3 and out and get some ducking points for fucks sake

    • 505Bears

      Scrooge mcduck

      • RenoBear

        Ha… Damn iphone

  • underway

we need #35 from the burgandy team.

    • 505Bears

Told ya like a peewee team lol

  • SC Dave

So far, we are consuming a shoddy product

    • Scott W.

…and Jay and our LB’S are vomiting it up for us. That’s something anyway.

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

We’re going long on 3rd and short and going short on 2nd and 16. So far, it’s play calling that’s killing me.

    • SC Dave

It is the inability to execute that bothers me.

  • Shady

Rams just excuted the Devin Hester/Johnny Knox return fake they ran against the Packers.

    • Scott W.

So that’s what it’s coming to. Posting synopsis highlights of other games. The Rams no less.

      Awesome.

      • Shady

Yep. They’re taking it to the defending champs.

        • Scott W.

Good. Good on the Rams. Hope they smoke them.

Meanwhile, at Soldier Field, Joe Philbin is making Marc Trestman look like a clipboard inventory specialist.

  • underway

How the fuck are there 8 yards between the receivers and cornerbacks…

  • 505Bears

Jared allen needs to be put down in the rotation..no double and not close to anything

  • No TO? WTF?

    • We would have had like 30 seconds with 3 TOs.
      Aren’t we supposed to have a high-flying O?
      Guess not.

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Utterly baffled by that. Made NO SENSE.

  • 505Bears

    Take it back Hester!!…oh, right

  • SC Dave

Ratliffe has personally saved us 14 points

    • Shady

      6.

  • tobijohn

    Great,Packers hitting their usual stride…

  • Cormonster

It looks like Trestman dusted off an old Mike Martz game plan and implemented it for today’s game. 16 passing plays to only 2 running plays? WTF is that? Unbalanced attacks like that almost never work.

    • Yup. That’s what I said.
      Martz-ian play calling. 3rd and short, 7 step drop-bomb
2 runs for 11 yds is 5. yds by my math.

  • Hey, what do you know. A run game

  • I would have gone for it anyways.

  • I agree. Gotta go for it. Get some momentum.
Let’s see how much of a genius Trestman is. He was brought in to win games on O, not lose them.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

    This is fucking embarrassing.

  • Don’t give up on the RUN, Trest!

  • Bout time

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Big drive. And low and behold the run game opened up the PA pass.

  • RenoBear

    Boooooyahhhhhhh!!

  • SC Dave

Amazingly, people here at the alehouse werebitching at trst for taking a time out on 4th down.

    Smfh

  • Just crosses in the middle. All day. D can’t stop it

    • SC Dave

Tanneyhill. Is throwing pretty much perfectly

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Pretty easy pickings with a clean pocket.

        • SC Dave

The only plays that havenot worked are sacks

          • MikeBrownhadaPosse

The only plays we’ve pressured him have been sacks.

  • Big 3rd down for D here.

  • RenoBear

    Right off his fucking facemask

  • RenoBear

This damn dink and dunk Miami eating this fucking clock up ugh

  • RenoBear

    Fucking. Pathetic.

  • Shady

How could the Bears possibly be so surprised by the read option, especially there on 4th? What did they do this week in practice?

    • It’s bad execution. Both Houston and Shea blew it.

      • SC Dave

Especially houston. They at least had to block shea. And TEs are supposed t be able to block LBs..

  • TE taking out Shea.
    Houston not keeping contain.
    Tannehill all day

  • RenoBear

We officially have a complete JOKE of a ‘football’ team. I am fucking disgusted

    • FantuzPhysics

We need help at all levels still. No surprise. We knew this before the season started.

  • SC Dave

Too bad we dont have a qb as good as tannehill

  • That drive was totally on Tucker.
He got out playcalled. The D was rested from half time AND a long Bears drive.
I sense an onside pretty soon

  • Does Trestman realize he’s down two scores? WTF?
Try to get a play in before the quarter ends, ass hat

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

My thoughts exactly. Very little time remaining given Miami offensive philosophy.

  • tobijohn

I really hate to say it but even if the Bears somehow win today, I don’t think they’re going anywhere this year. They’re just too inconsistent. Not only from game to game but from play to play. At this point, I’m thinking maybe 8-8 with a few breaks…

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

THAT was offensive pass interference? ???? THAT?

  • Nice play call, Trestman.
Dink and dunk it while we’re down by two scores and long.

    • SC Dave

Last post today….but all the bitching a t trestman is misplaced. The problems are on the field, and start with our bottom third of the league QB

  • underway

    geez…

  • Two turnovers by Cutty = loss

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

    Garbage.

  • DSupreme

I’m FUCKING PISSED! THis is some bullshit

  • D held.
But Bad Cutty showed up today. and Bad Martz-Trestman.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

On the plus side, we turned it over so deep in our own territory, the dolphins could only run so much clock before they put points on the board.

  • Maybe we should have started Greene, Sharpton, Jones again, eh Bears braintrust?”

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

No sound here, what’s going on with fuller? ? Is it his hand?

    • underway

      hip, questionable return…

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

        Oh great.

  • underway

    Fcuk it.

  • 8-8, here we come.
Gonna start scouting early this year.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Yeah that one was definitely on Jay.

    • Scott W.

The Bears go as Jay Cutler goes. I know there aren’t better options out there. I know he is what the Bears have and that’s it. But he is just not a winner on the level the Bears need. And I don’t think he ever will be.
He has more talent around him than the Bears have had in years.
And this is what we, the fans, get to watch, every season. Good Jay, bad Jay.
We will never cross the playoff finish line to the SB with Jay Cutler as our QB.
But hell, we get to see some great games, so for now, I’ll have to just enjoy those.

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

        Dude, I was being sarcastic.

        • Scott W.

Had zip to do with your sarcastic comment Mike. Just used reply to express my frustration under a Jay topic header.
Sorry man. Just used you to spring off.

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

Wow. I don’t even know what to say right now . Fuckin A.

Plenty of fodder for Doug and OB to work with today.

    • GPLDAN

      taaaaaaaaaa – mahta

  • DSupreme

Houston out there looking like shit getting blown up by the Phins O line! SMFH

  • I can almost guarantee Cutler will throw another INT.
Not that it matters at this point

  • tobijohn

I don’t care if they beat NE next week. This team is going nowhere this year…

  • DSupreme

Allen might be done, he can’t even get pressure when he’s 1 on 1…

    • He might be playing contain. Pretty sure that’s why they have him in instead of Young.

      • DSupreme

Possibly, but if we’re being real he’s only had one good half the whole season… We need more out of him!

      • Huge Bear’s Penis

definitely playing contain. thats why we are seeing Ratliff getting up the field for sacks.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

wow got to make the money and go to commercial. don’t show us who blocked the FG….

  • DSupreme

The only positive is after two straight turnovers by the Office, we held them to three points on a shirt field but yet we’re still getting our ass whooped!

  • underway

here comes the piss poor clock management…

  • Onside?

    • MikeBrownhadaPosse

      Yes.

  • At least Marshall knows how to manage the clock.
Can’t say the same for Trestman

  • WP4Life

    Turnover time!!!

  • Gotta bring the house and jump routes. Time to gamble.

  • WP4Life

    …fumble

  • Just ran the same exact play against us we ran with the Forte TD

  • FantuzPhysics

    This team is gross

  • RenoBear

K not a lot of profound thoughts right now, sorry a bit buzzed. But this team is a stupid stupid football team. It’s like when I was in nuclear power school in the Navy, the running joke is we were all book smart but dumb as posts in street smarts (not all true)… But this team and coaching staff is guilty of that. Over think things from top to bottom and it makes the look downright stupid at times

  • wreckinball

Went to a sports bar to catch this one only good news is there is beer here

  • Gotta bench Mills. Start Ola.

  • underway

Sad part is that this loss will be blamed on the 3 turnovers.(which obviously factor in, but there is more)..

  • underway

Why is it that our receivers cant get open when Jay needs a bailout or is scrambling around.?

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

    well that just sucked

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Cortland Finnegan is a massive shit bag.

    • DaMurph

But I’d like him playing for us!

  • wreckinball

    Don’t come ready to play that’s the”more”

  • Shady

    I got nothin.

  • GPLDAN

Alot of money to pay for a 74.4 QB rating.

  • Trac

Three, 3, tri, thrice. What did I say the number 1 key to this game would be? NO TURNOVERS! Protect the gosh darned football. On paper, the Fins are better than the Cheese. Hence my comment, NO TURNOVERS

    • TheBigCheesy

on grass, the cheese is pretty good

  • DaMurph

We are not a very good football team. We were outplayed and outcoached in every phase of the game. We saw the reason Mark Trestman had been in Canada untouched all those years. He’s an example of Emery making a reach hoping it makes himself look like a genius. Mel Tucker is who I thought he was last season. I can’t apologize for Jay anymore, I no longer believe he can lead us to a championship. I see us languishing in mediocrity the next few years until the Halas family brings in another regime with NO experience. Very very disappointing.

    • tobijohn

it’s really beginning to look that way. The inconsistency is the tell…

      • DaMurph

Instead of improving we have taken a step back. I personally wanted McCoy, SD got him and the Bolts have made great strides. Second year of a regime and we regress, its a turrible sign.

        • Trac

What really bothers me so far is how turrible we have played at home this year.

        • I wanted Arians. (and Horton as DC)
          Oh well.

          • DaMurph

Arians would have been a great choice too!

        • Trac

After next weeks loss, I will actively
lobby for the players the Bears need to try and draft early in the 1st round. I was hoping this wouldn’t take place until at least week 12. Sigh.

    • I think Trestman is 11-12.
And that’s AFTER taking over a 10 win team that barely missed the playoffs.
Biggest dissapointment is Trestman’s “cute” playcalling, esp on short downs.
Couple that with an erratic Cutler, plus hanging your hat on the offense, and this is what we get.

  • Trac

I was visiting some friends today so I am very thankful I didn’t invest 1 minute in game coverage. Oh and MB,

  • AlbertInTucson

I ran up the white flag when they let the clock expire at the end of the 3rd. Got some yard work and chores done. Easier than the chore watching this game had become.

  • AlbertInTucson

    Ew and 4 at home.

They played (again) like that aren’t aware they’re in Chicago.

  • AlbertInTucson

OK class, last time an NFL team started 0-4 at home and made the playoffs?

    Anyone?

    Anyone?

    Bueller?

    Bueller?

    Yeah, that’s what I thought.

  • GPLDAN

“Maybe up in Canada, maybe then it’s ok to sit around in a circle and say ‘hey, who are you’ and ‘let’s be friends’ and maybe that all is all great, but in the NFL it doesn’t work.” -Buffone

    • CanadaBear

It doesn’t work all that well up here unless you have the best QB in the league (by a lot).

  • BillW

Golly guys, that wasn’t a very good game.

    But maybe I’m wrong.

After all, I have a very limited knowledge of football.

In my ignorant opinion, I don’t think Marc Trestman is a very good head coach.

But from what I”m told he’s a BRILLIANT offensive coordinator.

After all, they scored TWO TOUCHDOWNS! (That’s a lot, isn’t it?)

Cheer up everyone – just like the other three losses – it’s only ONE game!

We’ll get them next time. And if not, we’ll get them the time after next. And if not…

    • BillW

Look guys – even if I was jerk, a-hole or worse, I wasn’t wrong.

I may not know plays, or assignments, etc. But I know Marc Trestman is not a good head coach. I said at the end of last year we’d be calling for him to be fired.

I’ve yet to see ANY logical evidence that I was wrong.

Ask yourself honestly – which is the anomaly – the wins against SF and Atlanta or the losses against Buffalo, Carolina, and Miami?

      Then tell me I’m wrong.

You all may think I have a limited knowledge of football, but given that you disagree with me, you might want to start questioning you OWN knowledge.

There’s a LOT more to winning football than X’s and O’s. This coach cannot inspire a team to play to their potential.

Tell me where I’m wrong. This was pitiful and unfortunately now a pattern too. Going back to last year.

Argue – insult me – whatever. But i’m right and there are several of you who won’t acknowledge it.

I don’t care. It’s a damn game. I may well have been a drama queen. I probably was. I may have been many things. I accepted all that and saw why you thought that and even agreed to some expent.

The onyl thing said that I took as an extreme insult was saying I had a limited knowledge of football.

I’m beginning to realize that you rah-rah fans (“it’s only ONE game”) do.

      • MB30SD

you were right on both accounts. you’re fucking insufferable. brutal. SMFH.

        • BillW

So you still think Trestman is a good HEAD coach?

          • BillW

Trust me – I REALLY don’t care. My boys are selling their tickets for a profit and we’ll wait (again) for the McCaskey’s to try to get a nice guy head coach that can win.

They will NEVER have a better offense than this. And it’s only good for 14 points.

I’m insufferable? No , not really. I’m not – I lost that – intentionally. You don’t like being wrong. Or me being right. But I really don’t care. Why should I? I know what it takes – they don’t have it. They’ll try again in a year or two and I’ll keep watching and hoping.

          • MB30SD

it’s not what you say bill, it’s how gleeful you are that we suck. come on man. you don’t seem dumb. you’re a professor right? Right?

I told you I’d ignore you, but I just can’t. Not when it’s this bad. Please go back to trolling the suntimes boards and agreeing with haugh. you make loses so much more brutal dude.

          • BillW

See MB – you are reading me with a tone that is not there. It’s not GLEE – it’s disgust. If you think it’s glee, well. I can’t change how you choose to read what I’m feel. Butt you’re dead dead dead WRONG.

And that’s why you think I’m insufferable – becuase you think I’m GLEEFUL, when I am ANYTHING but.

          • BillW

So we agree to disagree. I get that – first impressions are impossible to change usually. I made a very bad first impression and I have to own that. I have – sincerely.

And maybe I’ll never earn the right in your eyes to simply state an opinion (that happens to be born out frequently) and have that opinion respected (even if you disagree).

Really – you actually think I’m HAPPY they lost? I was out there today – spent too much money and seriously by halftime I was unfortunately resigned to the fact that they are who I thought they were. I HATE THAT – despite you’re ridiculous conclusion that it makes me happy.

          • MB30SD

ok bill. again, i’m sure you’re a great guy in real life. I’ll just skip your stuff man. It’s not my thing.

I’m pissed and disappointed, and getting hammered by packer fan friends’ anyway. you just keep doing you maing.

          • BillW

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel. We all are taking this tough. I do actually have a great deal of respect for you – believe it or not. After all you are a great Bears fan, and from what I read – much more importantly – a great father!

          • DaMurph

Dont forget the big manly biceps too!

          • guest

Stop apologizing to him !!! Don’t be a victim to narcs !!!

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

sure sounds to me like you are gleefully gloating on being right, probably not happy about losing! Plus the fact that you will not let things go- especially your insistence on bring up the “limited football knowledge”. Your level of douchebaggery continues to increase with every post.

          • BillW

The only reason it may sound like I’m gloating is due to the EXTREME insults I’ve taken when expressing an opinion that appears to be correct. And I think that seems to bother the people who said I had limited football knowledge.

I DON’T have limited football knowledge. I MAY have been a drama queen. I MAY have been a “douche” (whatever that means). And I would give thousands of dollars to be wrong.

But hearing several people say or agree I have limited football knowledge was an insult I can’t simply take without being upset.

Had someone simply said – you may be right but quit being such a drama queen I’d say nothing. If I was wrong I’d apologize. No one is apologizing for the insults – even though I’ve apologized for being a jerk.

And then find out I was right all along? And you think that I’M the one who should not speak? I think that’s asking a lot. But I’ll think about it – maybe I’m wrong again.

I just wish being wrong about this would score a few more touchdowns.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

everyone has been insulted at one point in time or another on this blog. Guess what – They LET IT GO! every other post you make you include some remark about someone insulting your ‘limited football knowledge’. Go back and read your posts so far today, and seriously tell me that you were not trying to get under someones skin by bringing up your limited football knowledge. There is no need to keep bringing it up. LET IT GO!!! I have come to the conclusion before that you are just wanting to play the victim, its who you are. You could have easily wrote your first couple posts with out sounding like a DOUCHEBAG, and MB or myself would have most likely responded differently, but you didn’t so i am calling it as i see it DOUCHEBAG!

          • johnnywad

Let me help you out here Bill. I say this with objectivity and without vulgarity. This is not intended as anything other than a statement of my opinion. The net/net here, is you argue like a woman. I keep imagining you’re my mother when I read your posts. Your posts above, amount to a victory lap, followed by a request for an apology for the insults you’ve received. I just don’t know any dude on a blog that will come back looking for an apology. It smacks of an argumentative female. That’s what makes you a lightning rod. My .02.

          • BillW

Thanks johnny – that was in fact an objective constructive viewpoint.

Of course we’re all frustrated with this team – that’s the common thread.

          • Cormonster

I will not defend SallyW ever again. I’ve mentioned to Sally several times to ignore certain posters or not take shit personally. I tried to befriend her a little bit this week. Several times in the last week I defended her in a round about way that I’m sure many regulars on here who know me have understood.

Unfortunately Sally is an insufferable ass douche. I feel bad for her kids and anyone else who has to watch games with that bitch.

Sally, take your shit elsewhere. As Gp so eloquently said last week, I would have a beer any day with almost every regular on this blog, even though I’ve got in some big arguments with most of them. You, on the other hand, I would avoid like Ebola. Your toxic.

          • BillW

Oh come on – you’re being a bit over the top yourself don’t you think?

We’re all frustrated with this loss – and see my response to Johnny and especially to Trac’s funeral analogy.

          • BillW

And please leave my kids out of this – OK? Seriously – that was absolutely uncalled for. They love and respect me to a level most father’s can only dream of.

If you REALLY think you know me based on my posts, you might want to consider that people only show one very narrow side of themselves on boards like these.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

Please start showing a different side of yourself on boards like these because this side of you royally sucks balls.

          • BillW

I have since last weekend. I don’t expect anyone to notice or care, though I know several people did. I don’t care that you didn’t notice, but once again -and I realize it’s part of the deal on internet boards – you’re making a statement that’s untrue.

I’m not only frustrated they lost I’m frustrated that everything I feared is playing out. But like Trac said – not the time or place for it. I get it –

I come here to vent and discuss and changed 180 after last weekend. I see other people saying the very same things I am – but my “douchiness” in past I guess means I need to earn or re-earn the right.

Trying to fit in here – not making it.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

i noticed you trying to change – and like i said on a previous thread i was hesitant to accept the change and compared you to a crazy drunk girl at a bar, just waiting for the craziness to leak out. My analogy was spot on because it didn’t take long for you to revert back.

          • BillW

And I said to knock me out if I got that way. So you (virtually) did.

I didn’t think I was being a “crazy drunk girl”. But I guess the crazy drunk girl never thinks that either.

Look – just really frustrated. I mean REALLY. I guess I’m taking it out here and I’m the last person who most of you want to here that from.

Thought I bought some credibility but too soon I guess. Really – it’s just a bad situation (me on this board). Like I said, trying to fit in without being some dumb ass “everything will be just fine” fan when I know it won’t be.

The “whining” you hear is NOT. Simply statements with some sarcasm dripped in. That’s what I say when I watch the games with friends and family and they lose. But my perceived tone of voice somehow comes out WAY different here. Like johnny’s mother (probably a very nice woman) instead of a loyal Bears fan that knows the difference between a good head coach and a wanna-be. And saw it a lot earlier than you guys are seeing it.

But I’m still coming across as an insufferable “douche”.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

I have said this before, i don’t usually have a problem with your content – i may or may not agree with your points, but that’s a different story. The problem i have is usually strictly how you present it. You seem to only be able to write in the style of apocalyptic douchebaggery.

          • DING DING DING and HBP wins the internet today with:

            APOCALYPTIC DOUCHEBAGGERY.

Copyright that shit! That should be the motto on Jeff’s next Tshirt for this Bears’ team.

          • Huge Bear’s Penis

            Thank you, Thank you, {takes a bow} What an honor! I would like start by thanking my family and friends who have always stood behind me, but more importantly i have to give special credit to BillW whose writing skills made the statement possible. truly an inspiration.{cue exit music}

          • Cormonster

Belinda, I specifically said anyone who has to watch games with you. That’s it.

          • BillW

OK – I take that back. Sorry, And sorry if apologizing is considered unmanly on this board.

          • johnnywad

Wanna know a bigger problem today Cor? I was fishing one last time up North and got off the lake when the smallies were biting in order to get back to the cabin in time to watch the game. Fuck.

          • Cormonster

Well that sucks! Smallies are so much fun.

      • Trac

Bill, really not trying to be a jerk but try not to point to your wisdom at a funeral. Mmkay. I’ve cried foul many a time only to have renewed expections a week or two down the road. Trestman will own what comes his way in due time. .

        • BillW

Again, thanks – that was objective and constructive. Good analogy too – it’s maybe like me telling the family “I told him he was driving too fast.”

          Makes sense – sorry.

  • wreckinball

Truly a team effort on this one but the O and coaching or lack of standout

And weren’t we better off with the replacement LBs

    • BerwynBomber

Yep. Not an especially good game from the D but I still think, season-wise, Tucker is out-coaching Tresty and Kromer. Decidedly so.

  • MB30SD

    uhhhhhhggggg….

  • FantuzPhysics

GB barely beat Miami…why are we so shocked that Miami is decent and beat us?

    • BerwynBomber

Because a) we were playing home. Because b) our O-line is better than the Cheese’s. Because c) our D is little better than the Cheese’s. And because d) you are supposed to beat QBs like Ryan Tannehill when they are playing on the road.

      • stats3599

Bomber, B is questionable, C Bear D is no way better and D doesn’t make any sense what so ever!
Did Tannehill out play Cutler today? I think the Fins came in thinking they’re suppose to beat QB’s like Cutler and did.

  • BerwynBomber

I said earlier in the week that the Fish might be the toughest D we faced since Buffalo. I only caught them against the Cheese but they had Rodgers running for his fucking life and taking some big hits. What I did NOT count on was that Tannehill would play so well against us. Did not see that coming at all. Anyway, kudos to Rat. He has a monster game for an interior lineman. Sucks his performance was wasted.

  • BerwynBomber

Good lord: the Kittens came back and won that thing? A brutal fucking Sunday.

  • wreckinball

And to top off the shit day Orton leads a comeback

    • BerwynBomber

I’ve never been the biggest Cutler fan but he is a significant upgrade over Neckbeard. (Not that you were saying otherwise.) I’m also getting the impression that Neckbeard might be a pretty crappy teammate in the QB room as was the case with Erik Kramer (or the supposed case). Neckbeard’s a career back-up-level guy who just happened to find the ideal situation in Buff and they barely beat the Vikings at home on a day when the Vike’s rook QB looked like a rook QB. But all my grousing aside — yep, Neckbeard tossed a last second score.

      • wreckinball

The problem with cutler is turnovers. McCown was better last year just because of that one thing. McCown also a career backup

Cutler isn’t going to get it done ever

        • MB30SD

sadly, starting to agree. a badass playoff leading QB is so rare. It just doesn’t look like cutty can be that guy. Sorry yonny. I’m not totally off his shit, but man… he’s making it tough.

          • DaMurph

            totally totally fucking agree!!!!!

  • MB30SD

yep, agree with Jeff on pompei. pretty much nailed it. We beat the tough teams and lose to the ones we should beat.

    don’t get it.

also can someone explain why the same group of LBs weren’t out there today?

    • wreckinball

Agree on the LB play. Throw the fucking depth chart away

      • MB30SD

this team is so fucking frustrating… and I’ve only actually been able to watch 2 games ‘live’

    • Trac

We are a team looking for an identity still. This is what you get, inconsistency.

      • MB30SD

        yeah, makes sense.

      • tobijohn

Any reason to think things might change over the course of the next nine games? I’m hanging on to my memory of Mike Brown disgustingly saying “I guess we just suck” (or something to that effect) and then they went on a tear. Of course, they didn’t go anywhere once they were in the playoffs but the rest of the regular season was fun…

        • Trac

Yes Tobi. Because we are only two games outta this thing. You gotta let the math play out first. Still a whole lotta season left. The fat lady ain’t singing yet.

          • tobijohn

I just hate having to put the time into analyzing other NFC team schedules to try to get a feel for what are playoff chances might be. Let’s be realistic, not sure what to make of the Lions but unless Aaron Rodgers goes down, we’re now going to be chasing the Packers the rest of the season…

          • Trac

We have bookoo talent on this team. Tresty needs to find a groove evra week. I didn’t see the game but saw the stats and turnovers. Turrible.

          • CanadaBear

The O was sleep walking in the first half.

    • BillW

In all seriousness, and not being smug or anything, the answer is obvious. Trestman. Period. A tough coach would play the best players. In fact, a tough coach would consider benching Cutler at some point (not yet). That’s what he did in effect though by running out the clock at the end of the first half.

From nmy seat in the North end zone, everyone saw on the INT that Cutler had an EASY FD by running PRE_SNAP! We were all calling it – QB draw – the middle was open. I don’t even CARE any more why he does what he does. How can you support a QB that makes such bad decisions?

And the first possession – on third and 2 – was that a Trestman call or Jay audible? I’d like to know because as Jeff accurately said – this was a dink and dunk game. Horrible call.

      • Doc Hamstring

The coach in the 7th game in his second year of rebuilding the team after Lovie and JA decimated it is the problem?

Jesus. If the coach isn’t winning playoff games in his second year, you want him gone, eh?

“A tough coach would play the best players.” Really? A tough coach? How about every fucking coach in the world plays the best players he has.

Bench Cutler? For what? Jimmy Fucking Clausen? Give me a break. This season, Cutler is the horse. You want to cut bait, you wait until the season’s over.

And do you know the Bears offense? Cutler can’t just audible to any play in the book. He has the play, the option, and the check-with-me hot read. I highly doubt QB draw is any of these. In layman’s terms, he goes to the line, he can’t order anything off the menu. He can order the special, or what the waiter recommends, or if he sees another diner barfing, he can order the appetizer and leave.

        • BillW

I expected that the Bears would win most of their winnable games. There is a reason they still fall flat like they do.

Trestman won’t be fired unless he loses the team and they go something like 6-10.

My comment on the qb draw was really two fold They needed I think two or three yards. The middle was WIDE open presnap and even more so after the snap when one lb moves to his right . No audible needed just run and pick up the first down. Probably goes 5 yds and then slides.

And benching cutler? I said not yet. But at some point cutler needs to be shown his mistakes aren’t tolerated. Not yet. But many people call cutler a coach killer. Trestman may be next.

I am a good college instructor where for the most part I can simply teach and interact and not worry about discipline or motivation etc. I am way too soft of a person to handle high school. In this sense I think Trestman is a great instructor in perfect conditions but not so much in difficult ones. I don’t think he is tough enough to be an NFL head coach.

    • Because Trestman and/or Tucker are bad coaches.
Greene was out there, but Shea and DJ were brutal.
So much so, that I think Sharpton replaced DJ, but by then it was too late.

Fuller going down didn’t help either.
Ratliff was a beast. Houston had an up and down game.
      Paea and Young were invisible.

Vereen seemed to take some bad angles, but not sure about the rest since the Fins were mostly running crossing routes. Don’t think they even attempted a long ball.

      Didn’t have to.

      • BerwynBomber

People seem high on Kromer but right now he looks like a much better O-line coach than an OC.

        • SC Dave

I was not going to post any more today, but I have to on this one. People should remember that Kromer was promoted last season to OC before reaming Trestman too hard,

          • Yes, but Trestman was the one who promoted him.
Though it’s not as if Tresty didn’t make very questionable ‘money-ball’ decisions last season either.

    • CanadaBear

MB, Greene was awful, CD the same as always (not a compliment), DJ is done and was replaced quickly with Sharpton. Sharpton and Jones made a couple of plays late but they weren’t great either. There wasn’t 1 impact play from the LB’s.

      • BerwynBomber

Sorry, the D didn’t play all that well but the Fish were afforded three TOs and more than a few short fields. Our O was supposed to be carrying our team this year and that ain’t happening.

        • CanadaBear

Team loss for sure. I was just responding to MB about the LB play.

  • BerwynBomber

Sorry, Blogfather, I don’t think Pompei’s tweet is all that. Long odds and adversity? We beat one good team in SF. Our two other wins were against Atlanta and the Jets. I’ll give us credit for winning on the road — never an easy thing — but right now other teams are lining up to take their shots at the Falcons (they lost by 22 today) and the Jets might be in the midst of firing their HC.

    • BillW

And here is the problem with that – it doesn’t address WHY. Why does a team rise to the occasion when their backs are against the wall, but can’t avoid getting in that place to begin with.

      That’s what’s so aggravating.

    • guest

The Niners aren’t good. Neither are the Hawks now. Arizona is the good team over there.

  • MB30SD

I’m out for a while. Brutal. peas out yos.

BEARS LOSE IT OFF THE FIELD, TOO
WR Brandon Marshall called out QB Jay Cutler following the Bears’ 27-14 loss to the Dolphins at Soldier Field, a source told ESPN’s Michael C. Wright. The source said there “are some very selfish individuals in the locker room.”

    http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/11729610/brandon-marshall-chicago-bears-calls-loss-unacceptable

CHICAGO — Frustration boiled over inside the Chicago Bears locker room Sunday, just minutes after the team fell 27-14 at Soldier Field to the Miami Dolphins. Yelling could be heard from outside the double doors, and a source said receiver Brandon Marshall called out quarterback Jay Cutler.

The source said there “are some very selfish individuals in the locker room.”

Marshall, meanwhile, didn’t deny there was friction in the aftermath of the game.

“We lost, there should be a lot of frustration,” Marshall said. “You should hear frustration. We’re 3-4. Yeah, this means everything to a lot of guys in this locker room. This means a lot.”

While it was believed Marshall also yelled at kicker Robbie Gould, the receiver declined to answer when specifically asked.

“OK, were you in here?” Marshall asked. “Were you in this locker room? This is a team matter. That has nothing to do with you. There’s a lot of guys this means a lot to. We’re 3-4. We need to play better. That’s unacceptable. That’s unacceptable. Unacceptable; shouldn’t have lost today, shouldn’t be 3-4. [The] offense [has] got to play better. It’s as simple as that.”

    • wreckinball

Good things can’t stay the same . A little shouting may be whats needed

      • stats3599

Shouting needed???…lol…..that’s what’s going to fix this mediocre team??? some shouting from a narcissist wr???…yeah right!! Get a Clue!! This is a 8-8 team at best and now I dont think that’s even happening…winning 5 of the last 9…yeah right, who you crappin!

  • CanadaBear

Just got on here and haven’t read anything. Sorry in advance if you’ve already covered it. What a weak-ass performance. The entire first half the O had the intensity of a fake pillow fight. They actually put the fans to sleep. I’ve never heard Soldier Field that quiet when the Beloved were still in the game (technically).

The LB’s came back to earth. Greene was awful and when your WLB has absolutely no impact on a game it’s usually not good. CD was his usual non-factor. DJ looks done and Sharpton and Jones made a couple of plays late but that’s about all. Fuller shit the bed on the first TD. Shocking until I remembered he’s a rookie. Vereen missed an open field tackle on the QB. YIKES! Mundy seemed to be following people around and then tackle them after they’ve picked up 15 yds.

Forte had 18 touches (12 runs, 6 passes). Nowhere near enough. We’d get into 3rd and short and pass. There’s no urgency from anyone on O. It’s like everyone’s at a Jimmy Buffet concert. FUCK ME!

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

yep that sums it up pretty well.

  • CanadaBear

I’m not saying Trest is in trouble but the last time we went 0-3 at home was 2004. The last year of Jauron.

    • DaMurph

He should be in trouble Canada, he has not done a very good job as our head coach.

      • CanadaBear

        Sadly I agree.

  • GPLDAN

So Pompeii and Jefe are tweetin that the locker room exploded. Good.

I hope names were named and fingers wagged in faces until confrontation occurred. It’s time to start calling this team out.

    • DaMurph

After the game Kyle Long stated they need to run the ball!!!! He was obviously disappointed in the play calling this season.

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

when are they going to do something about the crappy ass turf at Soldier Field. For gods sake put down some artificial field turf. seeing players fall down on both sides of the ball and chunks of turf coming up on every cut is ridiculous. This can not be a player safety issue as the Bears have claimed over the years. It is just crap!!!

    • tobijohn

Maybe when that pricey QB slips on it, blows an ACL and is out for the season…

      • burntorangenavyblue

Won’t matter, remember when Urlacher slip and slide a few years ago, he missed a broken sprinkler head from ripping his chest and gut area open? Don’t think the Chicago Parks Department cared then, why now?

  • Huge Bear’s Penis

on a bright note. ST did not shit the bed this week. I don’t remember a flag on a return, blocked a FG, and the one runback on a kickoff i remember got out to at least the 20.

    • BerwynBomber

And Rat was a monster. Feel bad to see an interior lineman’s performance wasted like that. Such #s are rare for DTs.

      • johnnywad

My thought as well. How many times does your tackle play like that while your D is getting rolled? Never. Well…today.

    • tobijohn

And I guess also it was a loss to an AFC team so that might help with some tie-breaker scenarios down the road…

      • Tie-breakers?
We won’t win enough games for that to matter.

        • tobijohn

Hey, I’m trying to put a positive spin on things here. Indulge me as I grasp at straws…

          • You’re going to beat me in FF! first time in like 5 tries!
Damn it. Both of your receivers caught like 70 yd bombs.
When Golden freaking Tate blows up for 37, not much anyone can do about that.

          • tobijohn

          • Cormonster

Confucius say, “He who goes to bed with itchy butthole wake up with stinky fingers”.

  • Trac

What happened to Kyle Fuller? Is it serious?

    • Something with his hip. Don’t know what though.

      • AlbertInTucson

        Hip pointer?

        • That’s what it looked like to me. Hope that’s all it is.
He was diving in for a tackle, and I think someone’s churning knee rammed it.
          Hope nothing fractured, or broken.

          • AlbertInTucson

I doubt they’d have had him on the stationary bike trying to loosen it up if a fracture was suspected.

        • AlbertInTucson

Another guess would be thigh bruise. Thigh tightened up and they tried to loosen it up on the bike.

“In all four of the team’s losses this season, Cutler turned over the ball multiple times. Yet in the team’s three victories, Cutler didn’t commit a single turnover.” -ESPN.COM

Look no further than Dallas for the answer to our problem. WE HAVE TO COMMIT TO THE RUN, this relieves Cutler from himself. Everybody benefits from a viable running attack. Forte’s body is the only sacrificial lamb. Run the ball and hit with meaningful playaction. We have somehow bought into this pass attack like we are Denver and Cutty is Peyton. NOPE not even close. Bears football has ALWAYS been predicated on the run. Run the ball, and when it doesnt work. RUN SOME MORE…. I saw it twice today. 3rd and short and Cutty throws a 20 yard incomplete pass.

    • GPLDAN

Dallas has Tyler Clutts. They can run the ball.

      COINCIDENCE?

      • underway

Nope not a coincidence at all. But hey we got Mcmanis for him. He looked good today didnt he? Leave it to the “NFL is a passing league” folks to make one believe that you no longer need a bruising FB on your roster. Something to be said about a guy who gets no glory, but gets satisfaction about opening a hole for another guy.

        • Actually, we got Rodriguez for him, who then got in some bar fight/weed or something along those lines in Miami and is now working at Costco.

          • underway

            thanks for the correction.

          • Ososfan

Evan was our 4th round pick. Coutts was traded away for McManus and like a 7th round pick….

          • I meant Evan replaced Clutts. Was gonna clarify that.

    • I already suggested this looong ago.
      Trestman didn’t get my memo.

  • Trac

Maybe it’s time to Let Cuity call the plays for a whole game, Jim Kelly style. It’s worth a try.

    • Jim Kelly was smart, had pocket presence, and didn’t throw soul crushing INTs (at least in the reg season).
He was more in the mold of Alex Smith.

    • wreckinball

WTF why not BMarsh apparently on the rampage

All for it asses need kicked

    • BerwynBomber

So you wish to promote Cutler’s decision-making?

      • Trac

Obviously our offense isn’t gelling. Let Cutty sandlot it for a game. What’s to lose?

  • BillW

OK – I intend this to be my last post today.

The honeymoon is over with Trestman. With the media, with the fans, and possibly some players. Not saying there is a revolt, but if Kyle Long is calling for more running plays, he is showing he doubts SOMETHING about Trestman. It seems likely others do too.

They have two very tough games coming up. The pattern says they pull it together and beat NE. And if they do, do they go into the bye “overconfident” lie I might say they were today?

I’m sorry for how I express my frustration with seeing Bears teams under-performing. With sarcasm, and disgust. Same as others. I tried to show my normal self last week posting about nothing instead of the Bears. I took a long look at myself and saw everyone’s negative points about me. And I’m not asking for an apology (re-read that one carefully and you’ll see that). I WAS asking for respect. I didn’t criticize anyone here – just the under-achieving and poorly coached talent-laded Bears.

Why you guys take that personally I guess is the next thing I have to figure out.

    • wreckinball

It’s the NFL you can’t mail it in any week Ask Cleveland

    • Huge Bear’s Penis

What are the odds its not his last post today??? anyone taking bets?

      • BillW

You got me I posted an explanation of a point I made about cutler. I won you yet another prize today.

        You’re welcome.

  • AlbertInTucson

This season is on the brink of implosion.

    • CanadaBear

At this point the playoffs are a pipe dream. No way we go 7-2 from here on out.

      • AlbertInTucson

Yes, that is hard to envision, Canada.

I mean, teams HAVE done. Just not Bear teams.

    • Scharfinator

      Blowiotta for Mariota?

  • AlbertInTucson

And now, a (gloomy) word from our sponsor….

Bears good one week and bad the next…

…what in the hell is amiss?

They play at home as if they’re hexed…

…and now stand on the edge of the abyss.

  • Big Mike

Drunk post coming.. fuck this team

  • AlbertInTucson

Kyle Long calling out the home crowd? Very sad.

Hey, Kyle, when you play bad, you get booed.

    In EVERY city EVERYWHERE.

It’s not like this was your FIRST home loss in a while.

This is FOUR in a row back to last season.

Your comment should have been more along the lines of “It’s no fun getting booed coming of the field at haltime down 2 posessions but, I’d have booed, too.”

    • johnnywad

He’ll apologize this week. Frustration got the best of him

  • Doc Hamstring

It’s my fault, guys. Not the defense, who made Ryan Tannehill look like a master and not a guy in danger of losing the starting job for an anemic offense. Not the offense, who couldn’t protect Cutler or get open consistently. Not the coaching, who didn’t have the team ready to dominate Miami from the opening snap.

My fault. I wore the same Van Halen shirt today I wore the day of the Buffalo game. It’s cursed.

    • GPLDAN

      Fuck Diamond Dave

  • CanadaBear

If there aren’t some changes made at Halas Hall this week, it’s going to be a long 9 games. Somebody needs to grab some bench. The entire team, coaches and players, need a kick in the ass.

  • BerwynBomber

    Did Fuller break his hand?

  • SC Dave

Manning… congrats dude. Deserved that record.

    • AlbertInTucson

Because nobody works harder at his position than he does.

  • GPLDAN

If Brandon is no longer Jay’s bestest pal then the wheels are going to come way the fuck off on this bus.

Now we see what Marc Trestman is made of. Any asshole can sail the frigate in calm waters and sing songs now he’s got a Man o War bearing down on him, a thunderhead in front and a mutiny on his hands.

    • AlbertInTucson

      “oh Captain, my Captain”…?

  • BerwynBomber

Denver’s the best team in the league and it’s not that close of a decision. Their D is vastly improved (and a top 10 D now) and Peyton and the O are always what Peyton and his O’s are, which is to say damn near unstoppable. Credit Dallas for playing so well but Denver is more dependable/talented and with better pedigree. Beside Dallas, the most surprising team (in a good sense) might be Baltimore. Never envisioned them being 5-2 at this point. Also the Kittens don’t look like the mess they were under Shorts.

    • GPLDAN

Denver is strong, and Ware had game left Jerry

      • GPLDAN

Blogfather tweet; “I have always appreciated the work of @danpompei . He nailed Bears in one Tweet. ”

    By stating the obvious?

    Hardly brilliance.

It’s right up there with ESPN dot com pointing out the Bears win when they don’t turn the ball over.

    Well DUH! Really?

They give us THE basic football commandment?

The Jets, with Geno Smith a QB stayed in that game by POUNDING the ball at that Patriot defense.

      • Shady

The Jets also became the first team in NFL history lose despite rushing for 200-plus yards, holding the ball for 40-plus minutes and committing zero turnovers.

  • AlbertInTucson

AND Florio’s last tidbit for the evening on SNF was the state of the Bears’ locker room after Marshall went off after the game.

  • 6-10, 7-9. Bears might steal one and get to 8-8,
but they can easily lose one they’re not “supposed” to.
