  • bearsfantillend

AP was put on the ‘Exempt List’ to take care of his legal issues. he won’t be playing for awhile.

    • bearsfantillend

this is the first i have heard of the ‘Exempt/Commissioner’s Permission List’ can someone enlighten me on this and what are the rules for someone to be placed on the list. I can’t seem to find anything about it on Google. Is this something the NFL just made up for issues like this?

      • Big Mike

I was thinking the same thing. OR they had to dig it up out of the rule book. Maybe that’s what took so long. Seriously.. they had to find legal ground that was firm.

        • saw somebody say this morning that he could have fought it, but chose not to. The anti Ray Rice.

        • SC Dave

There is your key. The lawyers had not billed enough hours yet.

          • CanadaBear

Dave I get your disgust with lawyers but the fact is most of them are good people with a very boring job. I’ve got 2 family members that are lawyers (sister and brother-in-law) and my uncle taught law for years. The only time we ever hear about lawyers is during high profile cases and ambulance chasing lawsuits. That takes in a very small percentage of lawyers.

  • bearsfantillend

Willie Young an afterthought?? He was signed before we even sniffed signing Jared Allen. I am pretty sure he was slotted as a day one starter before the Allen signing. Its up to the D Coaching staff to figure out how to properly utilize Young/Houston/Allen. And after the SF game it looks like they are figuring it out.

    • Big Mike

During the off season I was thinking about what it would be like to be Willie Young. I’m going to start at DE next season for the Chicago Bears…. Aww man.. you just signed Jared Allen. Damn…

      • Bender McLugh

not sure….. I would think these guys know that an Allen would be beneficial to their game

        • Big Mike

I’m sure he did. But for about a week or so, he was the guy. Then not. There’s always a little personal disappointment in that.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

Willie Young signed on 13 march. Lamar Houston on 11 March. So he was never The Guy. A starter yes. Truth be told he’s used at being a rotational DE. I don’t think he minds it as long as he plays 30-40 snaps, with the pass rushing snaps a must because that’s what puts food on the table. Not that much in his case… strange thing.

          • Big Mike

He was going to be a starter. He was looking forward to it. Than he wasn’t a starter. I get the “good for the team”, rotational guy, paycheck etc. But between when he was signed and when Allen was signed I’m sure he pictured himself starting, not being the third guy. I’m sure he’s happy with the opportunity and his role and so on. But when it first happened, I bet he was at least a little bit disappointed.

          • CanadaBear

Totally agree. With Ratliff out I’m guessing Houston kicks inside a lot more.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

            nope

          • CanadaBear

            We’ll see.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

I don’t think he was slotted as a day one starter. He is a day one starter, but I don’t think this was a topic of conversation during negotiations. No promises were made.
      His contract talks… 3 year, 10 M, 4 M guaranteed.

  • Paul Stuart

Hearing people talk about their own upbringing doesn’t really make any difference to me, no matter how complicated a parent/child relationship might be in different situations. They might justify certain types of discipline based on their own experience/acceptance, maybe based on the relationships with their parents and wider family who would be brought into question if they criticised A.P. But there is a massive cognitive dissonance set in place with traumatic childhoods passed off as “a different time” or “considered normal at the time” or in that era or even their cultural areas and traditions. This isn’t referring to tapping a pet dog on the nose, or a swift symbolic slap of the legs or buttocks without any malice or physical power. This is about a virtual fetish for violent discipline where it’s only parameter is what can get under the radar if there are no bruises or the habit of psychologically admonishing a child to silence about his experience. When you admonish a kid to silence about something at a young age, they then grow up to defend the act as an adult. Fuck that shit right there. Anyone who cannot explain a sense of morality to their child when they have misbehaved instead of this tic-tac-toe comparative misbehaviour routine, needs to still deal with their own trauma before becoming a parent. I understand the instincts involved with associative discipline…same as I understand the instinct to pro-create. Unfortunately a lot of people confuse the responsibility of parenting with the instinct to fuck the baby-mother in the first place and then play head of the herd like a testosterone addicted stag. Jeff is right. This needs ZERO debate (he said providing one half of the debate). Giving famous sports stars and private citizens alike the benefit of the doubt in legal wrangles is all well and good unless it is mind blowingly obvious that A.P. is so fucking stupid that he didn’t expect anyone to take his actions and bragging seriously. He doesn’t need football any more, he needs to attend to his morality. Same goes for the many in a similar mindset as he.

    • bearsfantillend

I have met no one that thinks A.P. is in the right for beating his son bloody. Everyone i have met seems to agree that A.P. crossed a line. The debates that i have seen going on is not about that, the debates are usually about what is an acceptable level of discipline that can be used. Unfortunately, no one is really going to win that debate, because it is based on the experiences of their own lives whether it be how they discipline their child or how they were disciplined as a child. It also involves the children themselves, while some children listen when they are explained what is right and wrong, some children do not. And to assume that every child will react the same way to any form of discipline is just short sighted. It is up to the parent to be able to understand what works with their individual children. I am not going to admonish anyone who thinks using a whooping(within reason) as a form of discipline is acceptable just like i am not going to admonish anyone who is strictly opposed to it.

The one positive about this unfortunate event is that there is now debate. Parents/People are talking about ways to discipline children, and those ideas/ways are being exchanged, and with this exchange of ideas maybe comes the willingness to try something new. Maybe that parent that thought they were at the point they need to use a whooping as punishment is trying something new they learned the night before because of this debate. Jeff is right, there ZERO debate is needed when it comes to beating a child bloody, but the debates that I have witness going on is needed.

      • Paul Stuart

Yeah that’s pretty fair to be honest dude. I’d just like us to get to the age of reason. I tend to lose faith in the possibility, when we can’t clean the emotional and psychological slate clean down the generations. I guess I seem a little intolerant of the domineering styles of parenting I witness. I guess I just am. Discipline is fine when you want to teach kids they did wrong, but so often it comes down to the parent lashing out because their kid disobeyed them, which is something entirely different.

        • bearsfantillend

to be honest i am a little intolerant of parents that don’t discipline enough, or don’t teach them manners and respect. You make a good point that discipline is sometimes a generational thing, ‘this is how i was raised’ mentality. But it goes both ways and some parents look at how they were raised and decide it is not the best way and over compensate by not doing enough with/for their children in regards to discipline and structure. Which in my opinion can be just as bad for the children.

          • Paul Stuart

yeah good points dude, I totally getcha. Structure helps greatly. As long as the parent isn’t just getting an ego trip out of the “chain of command” as it were.

And it also can certainly depend on where you live as to how much freedom a person can afford to give their kids too, as some kids are very responsive to being trusted. Plus community, or lack of, can play a part in whether a kid is isolated with a dysfunctional parent for example.

It’s too big an issue to break down into examples like I’m doing. It just needs to be measured and not violent. Respect out of fear of violence isn’t really respect. But this is spawned more by the young age of A.P’s child than the bigger question of how much and why discipline should be needed. just my thoughts.

          • bearsfantillend

          • CanadaBear

In my case it all boiled down to the fact that there was never a doubt in my mind that my parents loved me. My biggest issue with corporal punishment is what Al brought up in an earlier thread. It’s just too easy to lose control and go overboard.

          • Paul Stuart

yeah you have to be very disciplined to discipline another. if there’s a heat in the moment it might not be discipline.

    • Trac

I get the outcry. Really. It’s horrible. There are other issues that society conviently turns a blind eye to that I wish they’d embrace as much as this topic.

      • Paul Stuart

I hear you dude, there are many many fundamental and pivotal issues that would improve this issue too. Alas I started off telling myself not to let anything but the game influence my presence here. Oh well, I fell for it.

ahem. I believe sir, that I said we would win that game. I wasn’t sure how… but I was sure we would.

Don’t make me go get my posts trac!

Everything goes… but when push comes to shove what we saw from the Bears on sunday night isn’t something anybody knew. All you can do is hope it’s part of the process and the process will eventually be successful.
You said they would win that game based on nothing. Only aspects that could ever make you say that were the new stadium strange feeling and the nothing to lose mentality.

PS: I also said ‘the only way the Bears win is if they score 30 points and are +2 in turnover battle, while playing a taking risks and blitzing on every play kind of D; I’d also take the ball to start the game, even if I’m the defer type every time’.

I’m pretty sure most of us knew the best WR tanden in the NFL was going against a couple of backup DB’s and mediocre safety. There were a couple of us, voices calling out from the wilderness, predicting a victory. I applaud those of you who kept the faith.

          • CanadaBear

            That wouldn’t be me.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

Bethea-Reid are not mediocre safety and their CBs are decent. So that’s all the Bears had on their side ? I applaud those who called of a victory based ONLY on the notion that the 2 beast WR at 50%-60% can dominate their starting secondary minus one starter.

        • johnnywad

It’s all there. Black and white in the old posts. The Niners are beatable. They got shit for secondary, playmakers suspended and a superstar athlete of a quarterback that isn’t particularly accurate. I saw this coming. I bet money and beer on it. I won both. In Johnnywad we trust. (And MB too)

    • CanadaBear

Hard to imagine ESPN would lie to someone to get a story!!??!!

  • Bender McLugh

    Jets D-line better then 49ers D-line?

I predict 100+ rushing yards against the Jets Monday night.

    • Barb UMihai Mar

they are better, no doubt. If the Bears rush for 100 yards it would be a miracle.

      • Bender McLugh

like winning last week? Have faith

        • Barb UMihai Mar

Remember those Eddie Lacy is a stud conversations ? He had 3,3 yards a carry in 13 carries. The raiders had something like 1,3 yards a carry. This is nothing new… the Rex Ryan scheme is Top 3 run stopping always. Plus they have the personnel. Their 3 DL are studs against the run. The 3Dl before them were the same bread.
This has nothing to do with faith. It’s like the the Jets fans talking and saying ‘our CBs will almost shut down Bears WRs, have faith’.

          • Bender McLugh

Lacy is a Puke right? ‘nough said.

          • Bender McLugh

(love calling them the Pukes….thanks blog!)

          • Barb UMihai Mar

            rookie of the year

          • CanadaBear

Do you really think he’s that good?. We shut him down in the last game. Major Wright actually played his best game and Lacy did almost nothing against us. Starks had one long one and that was about it. If you put Lacy on a shitty team with a lousy QB, I think he looks pretty average.

          • bearsfantillend

Lacy has an issue with asthma, which he stated only bothers him in cold weather. hmmm… cold weather, Green Bay – not a good combination for asthma.

          • MB30SD

            fuck that fat bastard.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

no I don’t. I think he is good, but not better than that.

          • SC Dave

Trestman will embarrass the oline in the film room all week. They will come ready to play.

    • the Jets had the best run D in the NFL last year and a stud DL in that regard. Their pass rush/pass D is not as impressive IMO. I expect a big day for Cutler.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

Guys, do you have problems with this disqus thing ? I can’t access the ‘replies’ stuff. It’s 9+ for a while now…this piece of shit.

    • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

i’m thinking Frey or Vereen gets the nod at nickel. Probably Frey as they get Vereen up to speed.

      • MB30SD

I would be ok with that. Here’s my prefered lineup (assuming no injuries)

        Fuller | 1. McManis, 2. Frey, 3. Vereen | TJ

I might even be ok with giving vereen the nod until McM gets healthy. I think GP might have some pertinent info about his college play. can’t quite remember… gp? (hee hee)

        • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

I know it doesn’t mean much if the overall talent is not there to begin with but I just saw a picture of Frey last year compared to this year and it looks like the dude gained 10lbs of muscle.
I want to see him come in and play really aggressive. Maybe it will redeem Emery a bit on the drafting side.

          • MB30SD

Wasn’t frey like a 6th or 7th? I think the guy’s already made it past that phase. He’s been a team contributor for 3 years now. I kinda like him… just not as a starter.

McManis made plays all over the place all preseason. I think he’s a starter caliber nickel CB for us. He was picked right before or after frey that same draft right?

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

he is but i think his quad injury is more than a tweak. McMannis was picked up from the Texans

          • MB30SD

mmmmm… hope not. he’s an aggressive ballhawk. Love that in a DB

          • CanadaBear

I think he was acquired in a trade with Texas for Clutts.

          • MB30SD

            mcmanis?

          • CanadaBear

Nope that was Frey and McCoy at 6 and 7 respectively.

            http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1164931-chicago-bears-2012-draft-grades-reviewing-all-6-picks/page/7

McMannis was drafted by the Texans in 2010.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherrick_McManis

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

man I loved Clutts. That dude loved blocking downfield.

          • CanadaBear

Me too. McManis has been a good player so the trade was probably a wash. What I don’t understand is why we kept Fiametta when Clutts was on the street.

      • Barb UMihai Mar

I hope they use every one of them. Rotate them based on the package. Many positive reasons for doing this and few negative ones.

        • MB30SD

yep. this is my new thing.

Conte, McCray, vereen, frey, mcmanis… rotate those mofos based on the situation that best suits the next guy up’s skill set.

          • Barb UMihai Mar

Bingo. Belichick does it all the time.

    • bearsfantillend

they brought back Frey from the Practice squad yesterday

So its going to take me a while to not hate the Vikings.

My god Jeff, why on earth didn’t you to begin with. Their colors are purple and gold for christ’s sake.

I hate everyone in our division by default… the packers have a special place, saved for my most hated things (packers, chris conte’s tackling ability, tomatos, fat chicks, etc…)

(disclaimer: I don’t actually hate fat chicks at all. I hate sloth.)

  • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

so……..let’s just address the elephant in the room. Do i have to bet against the Bears again this week and lose money to keep this train rolling?

    • MB30SD

yes. this was already discussed the day of the game.

If you get shit, just tell her she needs to buy into trestman already

      • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

ok, but i’m only going to bet a little bit. I fucking knew we were going to win. Guys can’t even cover our WR’s when they are hurt. how are they going to cover them when less hurt? Dee Milliner fucking sucks cock and he’s got a bum ankle.

        • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

Their safety is lost in coverage too. WR’s and Bennett will have a field day.

          • GPLDAN

            Calvin Pryor?

          • Shady

He brings the pain, but was lost in coverage. The Bears would have been much better off if the Jets had not lost that game in tremendously embarrassing fashion. Rex Ryan is going to chew his players out all week and have them ready to kill someone by Monday. I still think the Bears will win if they play smart, but it won’t be a walk in the park.

PS. Waffle, make sure you take out a third mortgage and bet the house on the Bears the following week. It’s Packer week after all.

          • GPLDAN

Waffle underwrites his own third mortgage and then bundles the paper into a tranch and sells it as a CDO to Sachs, who – in turn – sell it to Romanian hackers for bitcoin to buy Russian and Thai hookers off the books.

            Global commerce is awesum.

          • johnnywad

My gut tells me the Bears handle the Jets pretty comfortably. They may stop the run well but that’s about all they do well. Fuck the run. There is no need to with the way this team is built. I’m guessing Trest will run it just enough to keep them honest. Jay could have a HUGE day against this team.

so as long as we don’t run highschool patterns that allow him to size up the target we won’t have any dead bodies on our hands. That means easy on the Bennett short seam passes.

Yes. But only nominally. $2 will do it.

  • BillW

This “excused absence” thing seems to be getting some backlash too. I saw a few comments mocking it as “Double Secret Probation”. but the real backlash comes from how much money these guys will make doing nothing. Pro Football Talk said it will make the players want to expedite the legal process to get things resolved. I doubt it – if anything they will want it to go slower (unless they felt their team had a legit shot at the SB).

Ans somewhere Ray Rice will legitimately wonder why HE is suspended indefinitely and cut from his team – no money I assume. I know he’s been through the legal process and was out on (single public) probation, but it STILL strikes everyone as what it is – the NFL still lost on how to handle the whole domestic violence issue.

And I don’t mean “made a wrong turn” lost. I mean “ground control to Major Tom” lost.

here’s my issue, if someone was to take the exploits of my college experience and broadcast it to the world as they have done for Winston and Manziel(and everyone else over the years). Excluding the rape accusation, these guys would look like choir boys, compared to what I did. What people seem to forget is that these are still kids, learning about life, learning who they are, and growing up in the process. That is what the college experience is about. Stupid shit happens. I was not the same person as a freshman in college as I was when i graduated, i grew up a little in those 4 1/2 years. Yes these young men have the spot light on them and everyone thinks and expects that they should know better, but that is bullshit and unreasonable expectations. Give these kids a chance to grow up before we start condemning them for something as stupid as yelling an internet joke in public.

          • CanadaBear

Oh, I agree with you but that rape issue is a hell a flag raiser. MB has a good point though. When we were in school it’s not like we had a chance to make millions in sports if we just stayed on course and didn’t do anything too stupid. I was lucky enough to get a good job coming out of tech school and at that point decided to get my shit together (somewhat). I’m guessing you were the same. When you have nothing to lose, we all act a tad nutty sometimes.

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-brandon-marshall-espn-20140917-htmlstory.html

Thursday of game week coming up and Brandon is worried about a 2yr old ESPN story that they are re-running to capitalize on the current personal conduct policy crisis in the NFL. This could end badly.

    • Trac

Nah. Marshall himself said he’s just gonna have to use his coping skills with the ESPN twits. I can definitely see why Marshall got pissed. A bait n switch all the way.

      • SC Dave

      • GPLDAN

He has a bully pulpit now – he’s on HBO Inside the NFL. He flies via private jet every Tuesday to New York to be on set. Trestman allowed that.

So he can have his HBO segment and use it to bash the 4-letter for dragging players through the mud while showing remorse for the Rice and AP problems, noting that it was his wife who cut him with the knife – not the other way around – and then spinning a little bitches be cray cray in there for good measure.

        • SC Dave

Last point is a colossally idiotic idea certain to backfire. I assume you were kidding there.

    • Peanut FTW

I would take it pretty personal as well. I mean A, you can’t do your f’in job and find current issues in the NFL that parallel the current events or God forbid maybe publish some good things that may be going on within the NFL, you have to re-run some related stories from 2 years ago. And B, what possible good could come of it?
How about showing the turn around Marshall has made by showing his new life, showing his confrontation of BPD, how he has championed the cause on and off the field for making people aware. Showing how maybe some of these people have similar issues and need to follow his example. SMFH

    • Peanut FTW

There is good possibility of negative blowback to all the publicity and banning that is going on. I think that many people that are in serious relationships with these NFL athletes, probably enjoy the lifestyle it affords them as well. So now, if I or my child report the abuse my style of life is going to change, my significant other will be unemployed, and it will all be blamed on me (cause theyll probably stay in the relationship). I think there should be other ways to ensure the player is dealt with and having to meet stipulations to continue their career other than washing your hands of them and banning them for life.

  • BillW

Gloria Allerd (the Al Sharpton of women’s issues) held a news conference today to condemn Roger for ignoring a complaint a woman made against BMarsh. It’s on PFT.

The complaint is for something that happened FIVE F’IN YEARS AGO!!

PFT made it sound like it was recent in their headline. So morons who didn’t read the story assumed it was recent and start bashing Marshall in the comments.

Other more responsible people defend him for (as the whole football fandom should know) dealing with his mental issues literally every day and making the public aware of it.

In the meantime, this looks so obviously like ambulance -chasing and headline grabbing and money grabbing that it hurts the cause someone with any real credibility should be trying to resolve.

And Roger the Dodger continues to say nothing.

    • CanadaBear

Roger should say nothing about Gloria/BMarsh. That’s exactly what she wants. Most people see her name and stop reading.

The local media in Wisconsin ran a smear campaign against Governor Scott Walker about 2 months ago, saying he was involved in “a criminal scheme”. The national press then ran with the story. Two judges threw out the case back in 2012 for lack of evidence, but the press ran with the story as if it was new. Then the state media ran the same story again last month. Media approval ratings are under 20%, well ahead of Congress but way below used car salesman.

A football comment related to Jeff’s tweet regarding too much defensive holding:

I don’t like to see all the flags either but the refs made it clear from preseason that it would be emphasized. From what I’ve heard on TV it seems they call any tug on the jersey no matter if it seemed to truly impeded the receiver.

I think it makes sense – the only purpose of grabbing a jersey is to impeded the receiver – hence it’s a foul.

My son once asked me how to avoid getting speeding tickets. The answer of course was “don’t speed”.

    • CanadaBear

SF earned most of those penalties Sunday night. I thought a couple of them were nit-picky but overall they have no reason to bitch. I thought the reversal on Black Uni made up for any of the close calls that went against SF.

      • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

my buddy is from SF and was bitching the whole time when they kept trying to jump routes on a gimpy Alshon and falling for his doubles moves.

        • CanadaBear

Did your buddy think they were getting fucked by the refs? My second favorite part of the game Sunday night was watching Harbaugh. Typical sequence; flag on SF, Harbaugh completely indignant and on the verge of an epic meltdown, watches the replay, looks down as all the air leaves his body. It’s endlessly fun to watch an animated drama queen not getting any love.

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

it was awesome, my buddy would just go silent after he watched the replays just like harbaugh. he got so pissed because all we kept singing to him was “don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time” over and over on the holding calls. He stormed out.

An epic sports moment at the bar: The night of the Saints vs Vikings Championship game, a great band from Houston and New Orleans was playing in town called Hamilton Loomis. $15 cover. Everyone going to the show migrated to the blues bar to watch the second half of the game. The band decided not to start until after the game. Lots of Viking fans at the bar for the show. Within 5 minutes of the game ending in overtime, pissed off Viking fans all over, the band starts out with When the Saints Come Marching In. Every Viking fan in the joint got up and walked out before that song was finished. It was a beautiful sight to see. They all lost their cover charge, the bar was less crowded, and the band put on a great show for the next three hours.

My wife hates football. Says football has no place on a HS campus. I used to disagree with her based on my experience when I went to HS. Unfortunately there is no honor in the sport like there used to be and I find it harder and harder to mount a strong counter argument to her position. Out here in Texas , all the unbelievable stories about the good players practically getting away with murder just so they can stay on the team are true. It’s cray cray maing.

          • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

i absolutely has a place on campus. The mentality of that football is the only thing that matters is what has no place on campus. Kids must be taught that the world is bigger than what they think and that with effort and passion anything is possible. It sounds corny but damnit it’s true.

          • Trac

For the average player that may be true but for the gifted kids they’re treated like royalty. That’s why so many players go belly up when they retire or leave the league maybe.

I promise you there are plenty of times hitting a woman is justified. As I posted at the very beginning of all this shit from the AP thing, there was a black woman I was ready to cuff hard a number of years ago watching what she was doing to her young (less than five years old) son.

That is fucked up man. I guess i was raised with by a different moral code. The only reason to ever hit a woman is if she is trying to stab you or point a gun at you and you have no other options. Otherwise it is just as easy to walk away before you get to the point of physical violence. Women also should not get carte blanche to hit a man either, but all that takes is walking away and calling the fucking cops. It doesn’t make you less of a man, besides what do you think would happen if you did the same thing, she would call the fucking cops.

I was in a very volatile relationship where i don’t remember how many times I walked away and let the situation cool down. I finally got some of the best advise that my Dad ever gave me after one particular bad fight where i almost resorted to knocking the bitch out. He sat me down and told me the relationship i was in was fucked up. He then went on and said “It doesn’t matter if she is the greatest lay you have ever had, walk away and stay away. It doesn’t matter if she craps fucking gold nuggets and if her pussy taste like fucking bacon, walk away and stay away. You are not in a good relationship and it isn’t going to change.”

You can try to ‘justify’ a lot of things, but in my mind hitting a woman is not one of them because there are ALWAYS other options.

        • did it taste like bacon?

i wish. that would have been really hard to let go.

This season seems so cereal with all the freak shows lately. Does anyone think that AP or Rice are the first players to cross the line. Something is afoot gents and I don’t like it.

  • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

I’m telling you guys I have a bad feeling about where Marshall’s head is going to be at with the shit going down right now. He’s still fucking tweeting about it up to an hour ago.
Too much on his plate right now. I sense meltdown.

    • total gamesmanship, man. he’s trying to convince rex ryan that he’ll only need single coverage because he’s going to be focused on this gloria lady. then, when the safety lines up on santonio’s side of the field, BOOM. BMarsh with the 84 yard jaunt to the end zone for his 9th TD of the game.

      • Donnnnn’t Caaaaarrrrrre!

is Gloria Allred on the fucking packer payroll or something? We know this is the only thing that could derail him.

        • MB30SD

she is the worst man, the worst.

Here an pelosi are probably the same person in a different wig

Jim Rome has turned into absolute HARPY on AP. His commentary today was pathetic. He ripped the BVikings for not suspneding him. Then he ripped them for suspending him, but making the announcement late in the evening.

Sorry the Vikings didn’t adhere to your personal timetable, Romy, but the Wilfs DID hold a presser in BROAD DAYLIGHT the next and admitted ‘We made a mistake” without beating around the bush.

Shaddup, already, you little ferret! You’re making Keith Olbermouth look humble.

Why does anyone watch these assholes?

    • Cormonster

Don’t you have other sports radio stations to listen to besides ESPN? Every show is terrible, and has been for years.

      • AlbertInTucson

In Tucson you have a choice of 2 station for sports talk, one of which simulcasts in FM. CBS orESPN. Well, on the weekends one of the political talk station airs FoxSports radio.

Rome’s not on the ESPN station. He’s with CBS Sports radio these days. That’s the station with the local guys I enjoy in the afternoon but they run CBS Sports radio commentaries throughout the day, including during the local show, with Tom Tolbert, Doug Gottlieb and among others, Rome.

        • Cormonster

Got it. Almost the only time I listen to local sports stations is in the later afternoon with Bill Michaels and his show. Called something like Wisconsin Sports Report. He can be a douche at times, but for the most part it’s a good show that mainly talks about sports. Every now and then I listen to the Packers pre and post game shows. I still like Wayne Larrivee, even though he went to the enemy. I still think he’s one of the best in the business, but Joniak is pretty damn good too.

The other side of Texas law you denigrated, MB.

What a despicable piece of shit. Should have starved the pig to death.

      naw…. same side.

Blogfather tweet: “How Brandon Marshall acted for years was unacceptable. He was an immature, arrogant, violent man. ”

That makes it sound like a life choice of some sort.

Borderline Personality Disorder is a mental condition that requires treatment and medication.

    • NewBearInTown

I would not be surprised if the same could not be said of Ray Rice and his wife (both admitted alcoholics) and possibly Adrian Peterson (likely victim of child abuse himself).
That’s not to say those two shouldn’t have some discipline coming… or that they should. Just that all of these situations, and indeed most situations of this type in America, are the result of mental health issues.

      • AlbertInTucson

The cycles of Physical and Substance abuse are very hard to break.

Likewise, mental conditions are passed on genetically.

As Mortimer (Cary Grant) said in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE:

“Insanity RUNS in my family. It practically GALLOPS!”

      • AlbertInTucson

I had said off the bat that I bet booze had to be involved in the Rice situation. And you can bet it was a factor in the majority of these incidents. People get boozed up and normally controlled actions/emotions become UNcontrolled.

now that I’m older, I save all my drunken shenanigans for fornication.

  • AlbertInTucson

I looked up “Harpy”. There was a picture of Gloria Allred.

    • NewBearInTown

People like Gloria Allred will kill the NFL faster than any player who had one too many drinks. I already stopped paying attention to the news this week and last because it doesn’t have anything to do with actual football.
The NFL is trying to broaden its audience by engaging in prolonged social discourse. But in doing so they are alienating their core fan base.
These issues need to be dealt with, but I’ll stop watching football if stops being entertaining. I feel no social obligation to talk about the health of Ray Rice or Adrian Peterson’s home lives.
