• DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

First to say, BEAR the fuck DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Trac

      Thanks for the announcement.

      • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

        Your most welcome good sir.

        • Cormonster

Hey Doc, I thought you would appreciate this story. Two good friends got married on Saturday. As the first of three bands started, my buddy went on stage and surprised his wife by singing the first song, If I Had the World to Give.

          • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

            Cool! A rare one!

    • NewBearInTown

      Bears. That is all.

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Jeff’s best Twatter post yet:

“Football, you dirty dirty whore, I love you!

    Brilliant.

    • Trac

Nobody loves a whore do they? What does this mean? Does it mean the only companionship he wants is with a whore? A Mis-statement for sure. Whores aren’t for loving. I’m confused.

      • MB30SD
        • Trac

          Just sayin….

      • GPLDAN

New York Sicilian chicks are whores

        • Trac

Ah, now that I can dig.

      • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

I realize you’re just messing, but allow me to rebut.

This quote is the perfect quote to illustrate the necessity of cuss words and colorful (questionable?) language in general. The statement, “football you dirty dirty whore, I love you” is like saying the following, “football, despite you’re many imperfections and morally repugnant behavior, I cannot help but love you still.” But saying it this way does not carry with it the same pinache. Saying it the way he did is unquestionably more emphatic and I feel gets the true point across using the fewest words. He’s a playwright after all.

My point of course is not to bob endlessly on Jeff’s wordsmith nob, but rather to point out that if one were to eliminate colorful vernacular for the sake of purity of language-need, one would miss out on the true meaning of said expression. Not that you’re asking for such but like you said, just sayin’.

        • Trac

Brilliant Doc , really. After I posted that I thought to myself, “you know what, pimps love whores”. See, his artfully crafted statement wasn’t lost on me. He he.

  • Cormonster

    BEAR DOWN!

  • Shady

My Kung Fu is stronger than yours.

    • MB30SD
      • Shady

Not sure if white dude was fucking around and got lucky, or if white dude actually knew Kung Fu.

        • MB30SD

that motherfucker knew FU dude. he blocked every single punch that cholo threw then knocked him the FUGOUT!

          Sweep the fucking leg!

          • GPLDAN

            Sweep it!

  • Shady

Cutty looking nice and smooth. Clean shaven. Ready for prime time.

  • GPLDAN

At Dennehy and ODonnell auto, we tell New Yorkers looking at that CTSV to go get their shine box

  • MB30SD
    • Shady

      Aaaaand done for the year.

      • MB30SD

        fucking moron!

On another note, the amazing human body. How the fuck do you blow your knee out doing that?! How?!

        • GPLDAN

In Detroit your body starts to rust

        • Trac

Is he any good? I have absolutely no idee.

  • Shady

Eric Decker is active. Huge for the Jets, even if he’s around 80%.

  • SC Dave

    Cool picture

  • Shady

Over/Under on how many times Chucky says Jeffries? 12?

    • Cormonster

I hope Jeffery smokes the secondary tonight.

      • Shady

        Max protect.

    • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

      Over.

  • ErikGrogan

Kind wish there was a live chat. Sigh.

    • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

      Wazzup Artoo?

    • Shady

R2 you magnificent bastard, we’re engaged in a fierce battle on the FF field. I’m hoping CJ doesn’t go off (which is entirely possible) and the greatest damn auto parts salesman O’Donnell mega punts em like he sells em!

      • I was wondering when some one was gonna pick up O’Donnell from the wire.
        Trade winds making Johnny sloppy

  • Gap discipline. Set the edge. Destroy.

    • Shady

Tucker might as well unleash the hounds on Geno.

  • MB30SD

    Let’s do this bitches! !

    Nervous

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Ahhhhhh Shit! C’mon Bears!

  • Shady

One play, one horrible defensive down.

Edit: Two plays, one horrible defensive down ONE MAGNIFICENT DEFENSIVE DOWN!

  • Shady

    CASE OF THE MUNDYS!!!!

  • Trac

    Booyah !

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Woooohoooooo!!!

    • Trac

I thought he was gonna run out of gas.

  • Shady

Get the crowd to turn on ’em early. At’s it.

  • Trac

    No pressure. Poor tackling.

    • Shady

Bostic needs to HIT somebody tonight.

      • burntorangenavyblue

So does Allen….a sack preferred though

      • Still looks lost a bit

        • Shady

The first play from scrimmage, he and Frey both dropped into coverage and allowed Geno to scramble. Add on the late hit and it was pretty turrible.

  • Shady

Houston with a NOICE play to tip the pass there on 3rd and 3.. Cutty time.

    • Trac

      TD?

      • Shady

I’d settle for a few first downs and field position.

  • Bear Down in Tampa

Got my 7 week old good luck charm with me, gonna be a good night gents.

  • burntorangenavyblue

So my wife, who doesn’t give a hoot about football even heard the dumb commentary about the “Tip Sheet” and laughed

  • Trac

I like it. 4 we sets.

  • Trac

    We gotta pass pass pass

    • Shady

It should be a pretty simple gameplan. Quick throws to open up the run game. Run to open up the deep PA game. Avoid negative plays. Stay out of 3rd and long. First series fail.

  • burntorangenavyblue

The 1st quarter blues that the Bears have had the past few years is maddening…

  • So much for the o starting off strong

    • Trac

      Bay throw from Jay.

  • Shady

Long got BEAT on that 3rd and long, Cutler should have had more time there. Nice to just get positive yardage there.

  • Trac

    Booyah.

  • Bear Down in Tampa

    Muff

  • Bear Down in Tampa

    PI

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Monday Night Heart Attack

  • Shady

The offense just needs to be smart here. Take time, move the chains. Got lucky on that PI.

  • Trac

    Cutty needs to settle down.

  • burntorangenavyblue

I noticed a lot of arm and hand movement by the O-line….I thought the refs were supposed to make a point of emphasis about that?

    • burntorangenavyblue

The whole sudden movement thing…does that only apply to your actual body and legs?

  • Shady

    THE BLACK UNI!

    • Cormonster

Beautiful pass into a tight window. The PI call was lucky though. Shitty call by the refs.

  • Shady

    Cutty time! What a throw!

    • johnnywad

That’s that back foot throw everybody hates.

  • Trac

14-0. So far everything going our way. Almost.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Bears still need to get it together though….Bears capitalized on turnovers, which is good. And also a few Jets mistakes. I just want the units to be oiled up when it comes to the early parts of the game for once.

      • Trac

Yeah I just told Murph I have a feeling we r going to need those 14 pts before the nights out.

  • Teams just keep self destructing for us. I’ll take it

  • Max

14-0 on six yards of offense!

  • FantuzPhysics

Weird start to the game, but I’ll take it for sure

  • Shady

Random football note: I always wondered why, when given 15 yards on a kickoff, the kicking team wouldn’t put some air under a kick allowing the coverage unit to make a tackle inside the 20 instead of just kicking it through the end zone. Glad the Bears gave it a shot tonight. #DeCamel

    • burntorangenavyblue

Not so random thought then, eh?

  • Shady

    Enough soft shit Tucker.

    Edit: THERE’S the blitz!

  • Shady

Rookie DTs showing up on that last SACK of Geno.

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Youngbloods at D tackle!

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Whoo, nice stop!

  • burntorangenavyblue

So can someone educate me on the league’s point of emphasis with the O-line’s movement? I noticed the Bears’ o-line moving their arms a lot right before the snap, and I would think that’d cause a false start…is it just body and legs that is counted?

    • Shady

Visiting offenses use a lot of hand signals and tapping because of the crown noise. They’re allowed to call out the defense and point out defenders. I believe as long as they don’t take a step or move after they’re set, they’re good to go.

      • burntorangenavyblue

        Thanks mate!

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Think Jay misses Hester?

  • Trac

Ok I admit it, we should have kept Hester.

    • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

      See? We’re not so different.

      • Trac

        I never said we where.

  • Trac

    Nice

  • Trac

So far Tresty doing what I thought he’d do. Pass pass pass.

  • Trac

Gas the D and then punch em in the gut.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Those blocks, so sexy

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Love me some Black Uni!

    • Shady

As well as Greg Olsen could catch, he never really broke any tackles. Everybody’s BFF can. And does.

  • Trac

I know it sounds cray cray but we do not need to run yet.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Yikes…Forte’s speed doesn’t seem up to par as we’ve seen him in past….kinda worried

    • FantuzPhysics

Didn’t Jets have 2nd best run D last year? That plus our banged up OL…probably expected

    • Shady

Have no idea why the Bears think Ola can beat Wilkerson to the edge. Gotta get Forte involved with screens and check downs. Negative yardage on the toss plays ain’t helping. Need to get more creative.

      • burntorangenavyblue

Oh yeah, it’s definitely the creative plays that made Forte shine through the years

  • Trac

    Cutty can run though.

    • burntorangenavyblue

How about Forte throws check-downs to Cutler? No? I keed

  • Trac

Gotta give the jets props. Decent coverage tonight.

  • Trac

    Ooh. Wide open but drops.

    • Shady

A half second late, but it should have been caught.

    • burntorangenavyblue

I wouldn’t call that wide open, but should have caught it

  • Trac

Nice run there. D getting gassed.

  • Trac

Cutty just took off Marshall’s hand with that bullet.

    • burntorangenavyblue

I think he took several hands w/ that arm slinging

  • Shady

    Missed opportunity there.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Yeah, being up by 11 they should have just try to get that first down..not like it was the end of the game. Up by 14 again, Bear Down

      • Shady

I have no problem with trying to score a TD, it’s the lack of execution in the red zone that resulted in a missed opportunity.

    • Trac

So far Trestys calling a great game.

  • Trac

It’s ok, woulda loved a TD there but I’ll take the. 3.

  • Just when we actually tan we’ll inside, they take out fiametta and throw it on short downs

    • Shady

That draw play worked nicely, but the Bears have advantage in goal line jump ball situations. Should have had a TD to Jeffrey if the throw is on target.

  • Trac

One run. Gotta keep em thinking pass.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Uh….they didn’t actually touch him until he got up all the way….flashbacks

  • Trac

Ryan trying to get back in control of the tempo.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Yeah, if there’s one thing that our D may be at a disadvantage is, is that it is young and a hurried offense may throw them off

      • burntorangenavyblue

Young as in the young’ens that we have, not overall

  • Trac

Tucker needs to make some adjustments. Smith has way too much space.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Well, at this point last week, the D gave up way more…so…..

    • No pass rush. If they blitz that can lead to big play. Make geno earn it

      • Trac

        Lovie duece.

  • Shady

    Atta boy Flatbread.

  • Trac

Can we at least get a touchback on the KO?

  • burntorangenavyblue

So Miller Lite’s commercial is supposed to inspire me more to drink their product because I was conceived by my parents drinking and screwing around together? Hmm…ok?….

  • Trac

    Dink and dunk. I likery.

    • burntorangenavyblue

      They double-dipped!

  • Trac

    Then go deep.

  • Trac

    Positive play, no sack.

  • Shady

    Oh shit. No.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    FML

  • Trac

Dem defenders are getting tired. This is where we need to keep them all game.

  • johnnywad

    Uh oh

  • DocNitty(BallsStillOrnamental)

    Fuck.

  • Trac

    Gotta trust in the Team.

  • johnnywad

    Get up Beast

  • Marsh should sit this game out. We need him more for pack

  • burntorangenavyblue

I’m hoping it’s like the fake passing out play that a college team tried last week………http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/98973/meet-booker-mays-the-fainting-goat

    • burntorangenavyblue

Nope, it isn’t (goes in corner to cry)

  • Trac

    Good coverage.

  • Dixon can gun. Now we just need a returner

  • burntorangenavyblue

Jets ate too many butterfingers today or something

  • Shady

Allen getting beat 1-on-1 on third down.

  • Shady

    And Conte out again.

  • Jacques Lacan

    I have a bye tonight…Moone – PBS – Gotham – It’s all about next week…
Bears win tonight…Guarannnteeed… Jets are a straight up team and we’re just better than they are straight up… — whatever that means — John Gruden says stuff like that all the time…It’s like two NHL teams that are grinders tonight…something like that…
    Best as usual – Jack

  • burntorangenavyblue

    WTF

  • Shady

Really Houston? Leave that Raider shit in Oakland.

  • burntorangenavyblue

THIS will determine the rest of the game, how they handle this penalty, both sides of the ball

  • Shady

    Dropping like flies.

  • johnnywad

    Houston gave them 7.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Why the defense just didn’t call a time out is beyond me….

  • burntorangenavyblue

Yep, called it…that penalty will help the Jets tremendously

  • Bears need to score, even if it’s just a fg. Regain momentum

  • Jacques Lacan

    State Farm – pumpitude – outstanding…

  • Shady

    Step into that shit Cutler.

    • Shady

      There you go.

  • Jacques Lacan

Matt Forte earning some money tonight…

  • Trac

We gotta answer the bell. Need a TD bigtime

  • Shady

    That protection was a mess.

  • Jacques Lacan

    Alshon needs some stick’um…

  • Shady

They can’t overturn that shit, the play was blown dead.

    • Shady

      In the fucking grasp.

      • burntorangenavyblue

Yeah, I’ve seen so many plays go against the Bears when their D would make a play like that but was ruled dead

    • bearsfantillend

      it was a fumble.

  • Jacques Lacan

Bears are blacked out in Chester’s Mill…

  • burntorangenavyblue

What’s with the grabbing the legs like that?

  • Jacques Lacan

17-16 at the half — wow what a great show in the Meadowlands…

    • burntorangenavyblue

      I’m confused…..?

  • Shady

    Flatbread stepping up tonight.

    • GPLDAN

      I will give you that

  • Jacques Lacan

    Not even that …

  • Shady

    Meanwhile, in the middle east…

U.S. and “partner nation forces” began striking ISIS targets in Syria using fighters, bombers and Tomahawk missiles, Pentagon says.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Weird how U.S. will help that area, but not Ukraine?

      • johnnywad

No it isn’t. Helping Ukraine means war with Russia.

    • bearsfantillend

I can’t believe they are picking on those helpless terrorists…. sorry was channeling my inner Irish.

    • Trac

We need to back out, wipe our hands or send in the marines. That region is a lost cause.

  • Trac

    Phew, its halftime

  • Jacques Lacan

Yeah baby, ISIS going down — we got them —

    • Trac

      Thats bullshit. Waste of ammo

  • Jacques Lacan

This just in — Ravens confused…Ray Rice is a known unknown…Bisciotti or Triscuits and Outside The Lines are a known, known…can somebody get a witness on all this…???

    • bearsfantillend

Say What??? Ravens aren’t the only ones confused.

  • Jacques Lacan

Gotta get some of them V-2’s in that Middle East…I feel “A Good One Comin’ On”…
    Right Viva? See ya!

    • GPLDAN

      Dude. STFU.

      • Trac

        lol

      • Jacques Lacan

What a humorless douche you are…

    • bearsfantillend

V-2??? as in the Nazi rockets from WW2?

      • GPLDAN

Don’t be invoking no Jericho shit. Only the Luftwaffle gets weapons like that, and only for Score producers. You pricks know the drill.

  • GPLDAN

Jets are making this a street fight. Kromer needs to adjust to those blitz looks and fix his schemes, Britton is shit

  • Shady

Fucking injuries. Again. Knew this was going to happen. I hate the fact the Bears have to go back on a short week and play thier division rival.

    • GPLDAN

Fucking Flamatta. The reason we cut his ass is right there.

      • Shady

        Hamstring?

        • GPLDAN

          Yep

  • GPLDAN

This just in: Allen hunts and fishes better than he gets to the QB nowadays.

  • Jacques Lacan

    Jared Allen is Zorro…

    • wreckinball

      More like zero

  • johnnywad

The PI on Walls was not a bullshit call. He clearly hangs on to Jeffery’s hand. May or may not prevent a catch. But its a pretty clear penalty despite Gruden’s decree to the contrary.

    • GPLDAN

Cutler’s fumble shouldn’t have drawn a whistle and the Jets shoulda scored. So the Karma thing is running even

      • burntorangenavyblue

What’s crazy is that I’ve seen those exact scenarios play when Bears D tried to do the same thing in the past, but it was not called in their favor b/c of the whistle blowing dead.

      • johnnywad

        Agreed

  • Bear Down in Tampa

This is kinda my fault, I put my son to bed, I have since gotten him up Oh and look, there’s Marshall.

    • burntorangenavyblue

How’s your son doing? Not fussy I hope

      • Bear Down in Tampa

He is but it is worth it. 42 yard completion to Jeffery and now to Forte in the redzone.

        • burntorangenavyblue

He’ll understand when he gets old enough when you tell him the stories

  • Shady

    Huge HTTF penalty on Olga.

  • Shady

    Jesus Olga BLOCK!

  • Shady

    BOOM BABY!

  • bearsfantillend

no one covering him easy catch

    • bearsfantillend

Blown coverage – did Conte get traded at half to the Jets???

  • Shady

I don’t know what these coaches do at the half, but whatever it is… IT’S WORKING!

    • Bear Down in Tampa

Brandon got a shot in the ankle for starters.

  • johnnywad

I’m beginning to feel like the first half of each game is Trestman’s appetizer.

  • Shady

    Marty Spike-A-Saurus Rex.

  • bearsfantillend

    Peanut Punch JR??

    • johnnywad

      No shit

  • Shady

I think Fuller is getting the hang of the Peanut Punch.

    • bearsfantillend

he’s got 2 FF tonight. too bad no recovery yet

  • Jacques Lacan

    Told ya! – BOF

  • johnnywad

    Christian Jones penalty a killer

    • Shady

The horrible pass pro on 1st down was a killer. Just torpedoed the drive.

  • burntorangenavyblue

    Ugh, Conte

  • Shady

    FULLER! ROOKIE!

Why would you come out of the endzone?!

    • yeah. maybe next time you don’t run it out.

      • Shady

And it wasn’t a quick decision. He had several seconds to think about it. O well.

  • Jacques Lacan

    Mingus Ah Um!!!

  • Trac

As long as Tony Cultler doesn’t show up, we should be able to hang on for the victory.

  • Jacques Lacan

    The Brush Man

  • Trac

getting a sense here that the bears need to start running some trap plays and mix in some more runs.

  • Shady

Sometimes this offense doesn’t understand situational football.

    • This is what happens to teams that cant run

      • Shady

They didn’t even try. They didn’t even TRY to try.

        • Trac

Even if you dont have a run game, playcalling can buy you yards you wouldnt normally get if you call the run plays at the right times.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Why in the world would Mills spin like that? Oh, and the Butterfinger effect is in full force tonight…must be the polluted air? J/k

  • johnnywad

    Are you fucking kidding me?

    • burntorangenavyblue

      That’s ridiculous!!!!

  • FantuzPhysics

This is such a weird game..we look so good at times and then crazy stuff just happens

  • Trac

next verse, same as the last

  • FantuzPhysics

    goal line D…nice!

  • Shady

Sutton showing up in the red zone.

  • burntorangenavyblue

It’s the penalties that will hurt this team tonight as it has so far….this is not a Trestman team, and I sure as in hope that it will be addressed tonight and through the week b/c we cannot afford something like this to the Packers when we know we can beat them.

  • Shady

Terrible challenge. Who told him to challenge that?

    • Shady

      Good.

      • Shouldn’t trest get penalized for challenging an unreviewable play?

        • Shady

Only if it’s an automatically reviewed play.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Maybe just to slow em down

  • Trac

    Lucky again

  • Trac

Im going to bed, too much drama for me tonight. wiped out.

  • wreckinball

Would be nice to go forward this series

  • Shady

C’mon O, get this shit going. Smart, efficient football.

  • FantuzPhysics

Anyone think it’s too late to get the running game going?

    • burntorangenavyblue

Probably…We need to take advantage of the mismatches, that’s what will keep us alive

      • FantuzPhysics

Agreed. I would love to see KaDeem get a carry or two, but I don’t think we have time for experimentation here

        • burntorangenavyblue

We need to burn out the clock…but perhaps get Jay to get a 10 yard run or two if we can’t get the other guys to pound the ball

  • wreckinball

Think they need forte as check down jets blitz pass to forte if they don’t pick them apart come on now let’s go

  • We need a few cheap screens to slow down their pass rush

  • wreckinball

    Can’t run

  • burntorangenavyblue

Wow, twice in a row camera doesn’t get to the ball snapping in time after commercial break/booth fixation

  • burntorangenavyblue

Wow….Jets mistakes are helping the Bears

    • burntorangenavyblue

      and vice-versa at times too

  • wreckinball

    We re in trouble

  • burntorangenavyblue

We need a DE to step up and create a play or sack badly

  • wreckinball

    Sack?

  • wreckinball

    Nope

  • Shady

If the Bears are going to play the soft zone shit, they better make sure they keep em out of the endzone.

  • Jacques Lacan

Curious phenomenon — after every play players look to the Jumbotron to observe themselves…

    • burntorangenavyblue

I call that the Lovie effect

    • Jacques Lacan

Yes — you’re correct…amazing to me…What does one see? What one has just done…

  • Shady

OK Offense, time to fucking do your thing. After an opening TD, the Bears offense hasn’t done SHIT in the 2nd half.

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

      they need to score now!!

  • wreckinball

Can the O please do something

  • burntorangenavyblue

The Bears D will not get many sacks against qb’s that are very mobile, but at least Mr. Rookie is helping with that.

  • wreckinball

Jay time to earn ur pay

  • burntorangenavyblue

Jay needs to step it up again 2 weeks in a row, in prime-time, to really show that he can lead this team because playoffs and the Superbowl are played in times like this and that’s what we really need for this team

  • burntorangenavyblue

Some of these passes need to be up high if there are mismatches

All out blitz. Jump ball to Alshon. EXACTLY why they drafted him.

  • BerwynBomber

Blitzing us is beyond dumb. Our line might be the best pass-blocking unit in the game right now and Jay’s enough a veteran to recognize his hot read or best one-on-one.

Bears better than the Packers too…..It’s Packer week baby! Rogers………………….DEAD!

But dead probably by Fuller…no thanks to Allen or Houston

    • The Ghost of Super Bowl XX

right now we have a better D, IDK where is O right know. but play enought to win

    • BerwynBomber

We’re better than the Packers. Detroit has the second-best talent in the division behind us. GB has Rodgers but I don’t think he gets it done this year. That’s a weak team up there in Cheese land.

  • Shady

Well done Bears. Good team win. Now it’s OFFICIALLY Packer week.

  • Barb UMihai Mar

Great all around game with some important lacks.

PS: That Fuller ‘kid’ is a joy to watch. No surprise, really, but still. Pure Awesome !!!

  • burntorangenavyblue

The Bears have got to start coming out of the gate firing on all cylinders. That is imperative when it comes to competing at the playoff level. You go up against some of the upper-echelon teams in the NFL when it comes to playoff, they’re not going to look back once they get on the field scoring lights out.

    • johnnywad

Agreed. I think its tough though with BMarsh and Alshon missing lots of practice and Ola being sort of not very good

    • SC Dave

All that matters are Ws, and we got one. One of the few Lovie quips I’ll always cite (no doubt imperfectly, hence no quotes) is that it’s hard to win in the NFL.

So, take them however you can get them

      • burntorangenavyblue

I agree….however, the Bears need to start the game thinking and showing “We want to FUCKIN WIN THIS NOW!”….they bring that out of the gates against the upper-echelon teams, then that will definitely help

  • GPLDAN

Buffone and Ed OB are furious we didn’t smack down these tomato cans.

    • Jacques Lacan

Gotta save some for the Packers…

      • SC Dave

Matt has a giant pile of frustration ready to cut loose on the Fudge.

    • Viva

Winning back to back on the road is a mother fucker. The grumpy old men need perspective. No one should make excuses for winning.

      • johnnywad

        What Viva said

    • johnnywad

They won by 8 in a game they never trailed on the road against one of the best run D’s in the game with a patchwork of DB’s, some of which were playing out of position. What the fuck is the standard?

      • burntorangenavyblue

        Winning is the standard…..wiiiinnnniiinnngg baby

        • AlbertInTucson

Have they started awarding style points?

          • Viva

hmmmmm. The NFL tie-breaking rules look an awful lot like the tax code.

      • SC Dave

No shit. Its a win. Fuck the rest of it.

        • johnnywad

          Bingo.

    • AlbertInTucson

Sounds like “Hey you kids, get off my lawn!” guy.

  • burntorangenavyblue

Not trying to rain on the win parade here, but am I missing something? Why in the world did the Ravens’ owner say he would hire Ray Rice after his football career? Did Rice find out about something on the owner? Like is it possible the owner has helped cover up information about previous player’s crimes or something like that?…Oh wait a minute……

    • Viva

oh wait a minute ….. IT IS PACKER WEEK.

  • AlbertInTucson

These Pyrrhic Victories are just WAY too remeniscent of early last season.

They are winning battles and losing the war of attrition.

    I find it quite concerning.

    • burntorangenavyblue

Yeah, and being 6-3, or 7-4 and the wheels fall off…..horrid flashbacks

    • johnnywad

Al. You make me sigh. The victory isn’t a half hour old and that’s you first post? C’mon my man. Cheer up. The Beloved are 2-1, tied for first, and its officially Packer week. Buck up and drop some victory Burma Shave on me.

      • AlbertInTucson

Sorry, I have to call ’em as I sees ’em and a DB being helped off the field every other series is an issue.

        • GPLDAN

Vereen is a man. A little man, but a man.

          • AlbertInTucson

There does seem to to be an upside there. Let’s hope so.

  • johnnywad

The Bears D is definitely better. How much better is hard to say at this point. Sutton and Ferguson both showed a flash or two tonight. Looks like Fuller is the goods. I’m very curious to see what Vereen brings. Bostic is proving to be solid against the run but may still be a flake against the pass.

Mundy had a nice pick, but damn is he slow.

    Fuck Jared Allen.

This defense might be getting simultaneously younger AND better.

    • Viva

I feel differently about Allen. He has a motor…and his work ethic is an asset while raising rookies.

      • burntorangenavyblue

I feel that he is definitely trying, and it seems to be causing some pressure. But I think his veteran experience is also the important payoff with having him mentor the yung’ens

        • GPLDAN

He’s facing a LT who is a 7 year starter and a top guy.

      • johnnywad

Alright. I’ll settle down a bit on Allen. But man he looks slow and old to me.

        • Cormonster

D’Brickashaw Furgeson is one of the best LT in the NFL.

    • AlbertInTucson

Allen didn’t get home but he showed the discipline to keep contain on his side.

      • johnnywad

I see I’m in the minority. I’ll assume I’m wrong and hope for more next week.

    • SC Dave

Remember, that was Chris Johnson (perhaps the fastest guy in the NFL) chasing him.

      • GPLDAN

        good 1 dave

    • MB30SD

      100%

  • burntorangenavyblue

Ray Lewis looks like he can eat Fuller, haha. Good interview though! Great stats too!

  • SC Dave

    A fine win. Good times.

  • johnnywad

Cutty playing super smart again. He really seems to be feeling the pocket and making some great plays without getting stupid. Two of his best plays tonight were “back foot” throws everybody lights him up for. Without those throws and subsequent completions, the Bears likely lose. Gotta give Cutty some props.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed though if you’re referencing the back foot throw to Alshon in the middle of fourth I do sense that’s a ball that’s picked against a better D. Still, Jay does well against a blitz with a top-notch O-line and he is playing smart.

      • johnnywad

That one and the TD to Bennett

  • BerwynBomber

Zebras helped us a ton. Solid win, though. Jay continues to look steady after the Buffalo game. O-line gave up four sacks but given the amount of Ryan’s blitzing they held their own. The D, indeed, looks better than last year. Still don’t know if it is enough to take us all the way but should be enough to win our division and get us invited to the dance. Best game of Bostic’s career tonight.
P.S. I’d be surprised if Geno Smith becomes anything beyond average. That looks to be his ceiling.

    • AlbertInTucson

OK, they took 7 off the board from the Jet but they almost evened it up with that 4th down spot they let stand and the holding call on Bostic down the stretch. Not making any apolgies for the win.

      • BerwynBomber

The first PI call was a gift too, but agreed, no apologies. Just is what it is.

        • johnnywad

I disagree. I think the DB held Jeffery’s arm as he spun to look for the ball. I think it was a legit call.

          • Yeah, he had his arm wrapped around his waist.
It’s actually a subtle CB trick, which sometimes doesn’t get called cuz it’s usually hidden from the ref eyes. Not that time I guess.

          • MB30SD

            me too. total PI

  • GPLDAN

Here’s the shit we need. We need some Ratliff back so Houston can get back to LDE, and only use Young situationally.

We need Mundy to get healthly. Don’t care about Conte, his body is not NFL caliber, but Mundy we need.

Vereen and Fuller and Ego and Sutton are all men. I can’t remember a rook class where the shit was contributing up and down like that.

And we’ll get Chicken Dinner back so Bostic isn’t so fuckin winded he makes that catch

    • johnnywad

Phil may have nailed this draft. Won’t know for a while but early returns are solid. And maybe, just maybe, I don’t hate Mel Tucker.

      • Maybe.

      • SC Dave

The Bears have given up a TOTAL of 12 points in the second half this year. Seems like you should be thinking that whatever Tucker is doing to adjust might be better than the Ron Riveras of the world could do.

        • MB30SD

          eeeeasy maing

    • Viva

Ratliff makes everyone on the line better – no question.

    • The Rat, and Mundy. Bingo.
      Briggs played well too.
Our DEs seemed more concerned with keeping contain, which is understandable.
When they needed to pressure at the end, they did, esp Allen.

Allen I thought made a great adjustment late in the game. It seemed like he was countering the LT who was stonewalling him all night. I wonder if that was on purpose. Wily vet move.

      • GPLDAN

He crashed down again and again until he needed the big hit, then he punched up and swam to the outside shoulder. That was a change up.

        • Yeah, that’s what I noticed. And it worked when it mattered most. Punched the LT off-balance.

    • MB30SD

yeah, fuller is a grown ass fucking man. Sutton and ego both made a few BIG plays.

I REALLY like vereen’s future upside.

Bostic is getting better and better and is going to start making those big plays soon. I did see his guy make some catches, but with the musical chairs in the backfield, it’s hard without much help over the top.

      • Future?
He’s already mastering the donkey punch.
Holy shit. He’s like a Peanut clone. Damn Chinese.

        • MB30SD

          excatly. awesome.

        • johnnywad

He’s more athletic than I ever remember Peanut being. I hope the But sticks around and teaches this kid everything he knows. Sky is the limit with Fuller.

  • I was most impressed with our run D. Granted, the D could cheat a little because it was Geno and some scrubs at WR, but for the first time in a long time, no back breaking long runs.
The Jets had some good chunks, but none of those 60 yard demoralizers, which is even more remarkable given the ER we rolled out there at safety.

  • Shady

Mel Tucker had this D unit playing hard tonight, even with the mess in the secondary they still found a way to make plays. It starts up front, obviously. The DEs pressured Geno all night, PAEA and the rookie DTs came to play especially in the red zone, and Fuller looks like the real deal. Major props to Tucker and the D for bringing it tonight, even with all the new bodies.

Special teams even played halfway decently.

You knew it was going to be a tough game for Cutler and the O going against a stout Jets D, but they were efficient enough ESPECIALLY in the red zone and on third down when it counted. Not perfect by any means, but they did just enough when it counted to win.

    • johnnywad

I was going to comment on the special teams. The coverage units are really playing well minus the penalties. Those can get you beat. But why does POD keep getting nearly blocked? Does he take too damn long? Or is is a blocking issue? That shit needs to end.

    • SC Dave

      Excellent summary, Shady.

      • Cormonster

Shady is almost always spot on in his analysis during and after a game. The dude knows his football. He’s not always right, though. Only I am.

        • MB30SD

and he’s a big pussy, but hey… can’t have it all.

    • We need to become more consistent on O. I think we went 3 and out 3 drives in a row the second half.
Can’t have that. At least string a few first downs together to milk the clock.
Part of that equation is actually having a run/screen game.

      • Shady

Negative plays just killed drives. Ending up in 3rd and long, epecially against the Jets, is pretty much drive over.

  • In the sage words of Al Davis, “Just win, Baby.”

    Go Bears!

    Packer week has officially commenced.

    • GPLDAN

Think the Packer trolls will show pre-game?

      • johnnywad

No. They’re reeling. And a beatdown bout to go down. And they know it.

        • MB30SD

          THEEEECE!!!

      • Hope so. I remember that one Puke Troll thought I was trying to run him off when I predicted we sweep them this yr in pre-season.
I hold to my prediction. SWEEP. THE. LEG.

        • GPLDAN

          Sweep it!

  • AlbertInTucson

Ahh. A victory on MUNDY NIGHT FOOTBALL!

    • johnnywad

      There it is. Better

      • MB30SD

looks like rex had a case o’ the mundys?

  • GPLDAN

    Buffone and OB hate flatbread.

Paea had some inside speed moves that were nice, but OB just cannot stand flatbread.

    • johnnywad

      Thought he was serviceable tonight.

      • Shady

        Mos Def.

Came up with a huge knockdown on 3rd in the red zone.

    • Cormonster

I was listening and just turned it off after OB refused to give Paea any credit for anything. Total bullshit on his part. I used to like their schtick, but it is getting really old.

      • Yeah, I thought he made some nice plays tonight. Also, seemed to be pumped lifting the energy level.
Paea is just not consistent, but tonight he made some impact plays.

        • Cormonster

Doug and OB need to give credit when credit is due. There is no middle ground with those guys. They want to bitch or praise. They play to the lowest common denominator with the phone callers and how they react.

    • Big Mike

      who is OB

      • AlbertInTucson

Ed O’Bradovich. Solid Left Defensive End on the ’63 Championship Team (opposite Dog Atkins) and then teammate of Butkus’ through Dick’s career.

        • Big Mike

Oh. OK. I’m not in the city. I did not know he had a show. Wasn’t familiar with the initials. He was quite a player.

  • SC Dave

The more I sit here, the more I want to just say

    Fuck yeah, Bears win!

  • SC Dave

Up waaay too late and off to the land of Nod. But bask in victory, compadres. Packer week starts tomorrow

  • MB30SD

    ohhhh herrroooooo!

    story….

So I roll into the bar 20 early to grab a table. Get one, prime spot. Who sits down at the table next to me 5 minutes later as I’m tindering waiting for my buds…

A little hottie (an 8 and 26yo) in a pink #23 hester jersey and her not so hot (but very nice) friend.

My first thought: Oh we’re winning this fucking game. the monday night gods are shining down upon us!

My Second thought: Oh well… heeerrrooooo!

    Outcome: Bears 27 Jets 19

outcome for Ol’ mb… Tuesday night dinner date with the hottie in the pink hester jersey.

Chatted her up and then when they asked me to take a pic of them (cause I was so nice), I said I usually don’t take pics, but I will if you take me out to dinner next week (insert whatever name you want here)… I’ll buy… and handed her my phone. She giggled and put her number in.

God I love being single. There is literally an endless supply of gorgeous, hot, sexy women out there looking for a nice guy who’ll buy them dinner and tell them they look amazing in that pink devin hester jersey as the bears crush rex ryan’s hapless team.

    • MB30SD

oh, and nice work tonight yonny!

Next week has to be at least double what you put down tonight.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Her REAL # ???

      • MB30SD

Hahahaha… always Al, always. She texted me when we got home.

    • Trac

Tales from the Crypt? Oh you’re so nice. My hero.

  • Trac

2 And ohhh baby! 2 and ohhh!

  • Barb UMihai Mar

    – I was almost certain before the game that this was Lamarr Houston’s game to shine and he didn’t disappoint. It’s nice to have 3 DE that can take over games. every week it can be a different one

-the DTs were the best unit of the Bears in this game. All 3 of them had an incredible game. I’d auction my left ‘ball’ for a 2 sack, multiple pressures, pass defended, 4 yards per carry every week. The fact that the best DT missed the game and they used only a 3 man rotation is that much more impressive. Credit the scheme and the coaching for part of that…you still have to execute. Great work !

    – Could they, please, play Brock Vereen more and not only when they have to ? In truthness McCray is doing a good job himself.

    – Briggs played great, again. There’s such a huge difference between his level of play compared to the other LBs.

-Bushrod was nearly pathetic this game. DeLa Puente was fantastic. How about giving him an extension TODAY!? I was sold on him from when they signed him, now more than before. Others were good/decent.

    – Cutler did as good of a job as he could against the blitz without the luxury of checking to run plays away from it. He was fooled 3-4 times with 2 big sacks ensuing, but was still great. That tells you a lot about him, but also on how great Rex Ryan is… when you say ‘great QB work’ after ‘only’ 2 sacks.

    – The ST played a perfect game. The Punter was a peach. They are now young and athletic and they’ll never become a good return bunch, but I’m more than ok with them being like this in kick coverage. As long as they don’t allow, I couldn’t care less about their gains…except for some Holmes plays just to keep the other teams a little fearful and in check, meaning keeping them from booting 60 yarders, middle of the field punts, because they don’t fear a big return.

  • Trac

Good teams get lucky and last night was no exception. The Jets killed us on yards from scrimmage, we were most fortunate to come out with a win. Overall the arrow is pointing up and with a solid game plan against the Cheese we can move to 3-0. Yeah Baby! Yeah!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBHKVAs85Ko

    • Barb UMihai Mar

The Bears weren’t ‘lucky’ or better said that’s not why they won the game. They were solid and disciplined in their play. That’s the reason they won.
The Bears aren’t 2-0, they are 2-1. They lost in Week 1 against the Bills, who won that game because hey were ‘solid and disciplined’. Funny how that goes.

      • Trac

No offense Barb but we don’t count losses on this blog. What’s wrong with you man?
