    He’s the shit.

  • MB30SD

Agree with you trac. today’s lineup SHOULD be easy to call.

    Belgium (fuck algeria)
    Brazil (fuck Mex)
    Russia (fuck russia)

    • DaBearsBlog

Look out for Mexico today. They match up well with Brazil and will play at the same tempo.

      • MB30SD

I know, but I just hate mex because of all the matches we’ve played (lost) with them. It’s ingrained.

Besides, I think the home crowd push gets them over the line.

      • Trac

A draw is prolly the most likely outcome.

        • MB30SD

          boooooooo.

          BRZ 1 – MEX 0

        • On a roll. Ride the streak. Take it to Vegas or Irish Bangkok underground casino.

          • Trac

You guys are great. Always accepts a pat on the back. Lol

      • I agree. They tend to play Brazil well for whatever reason. But most of the time half the Brazilians starters are not playing in friendlees, so we’ll see.

  • Irish Sweetness

    Enjoy. Again.

    Go USA.

    • Doc Nitty

That was cool. Thanks for posting that, Irish.

Blogfather Tweet: “Feel bad for grumpy anti-soccer folks & their derogatory World Cup tweets. Like bragging you don’t drink, eat bacon, listen to music…”

Sorry folks, but to me, this sounds a lot like “Soccer Guy”. The guy who thinks you’re completely ignorant if you don’t love The “World’s Game” or, gasp, dare to criticize it, even when it reeks of corruption and bad acting. Blogfather, of all people, should deeply resent the latter of those two criticisms.

    • Trac

It’s the lib…., eh, um…I mean it’s the American way Al.

    • John ‘GP’ Nada

I can already tell you the final will be Germany v. Brazil.

And Brazil will win. Or least they will get incredibly biased reffing.

That’s how transparently corrupt the system is.

    • burntorangenavyblue

I love some of the random thoughts he has, however, some of the stuff at times seems condescending and borderline unprofessional. He really needs a new handle name for some of the topics he tweets about because this is DaBearsBlog….when he tweets for days on end about golfing and/or soccer, what’s the point of using @DaBearsBlog? I will never really get into those sports I mentioned. I don’t mind when topics that shows a bigger picture involve multiple spots and its culture are discussed, but it’s kinda getting old seeing that a football twitter account is trying to shove other sports stuff down FOOTBALL fans throat and be snarky about it.

Blogfather, start branching out into the other sports like you do for DaBearsBlog and I believe you will have a MASSIVE following and the approach and love you have for the Bears and football will and should resonate into those other blogs. Unless you are already doing that, then my bad.

  • John ‘GP’ Nada

Bears opened Mini-camp today at noon.

Any thoughts related to the actual reason for this blog? Bueller?

Here’s mine to get it kicked off: Watch to see if Bostic or Williams gets the reps walking through calls at Mike. I think the Chicken Dinner as Mike experiment is now over and he will work out from here at Sam.

Per the CBA, Mini-Camp is helmet only and no contact…

    • MB30SD

Bostic will be the starting MLB by mid season… and he’ll impress (even you dave)

CD will be a situational snap outside rusher/blitzer. His sack total will be similar to his historic average. The bears will say, “see, he’s not a bust!”

Oh and vereen will be our starting FS along with mundy IFF we don’t get a nice vet pick up due to cap issues.

      • John ‘GP’ Nada

Who is starting Sam then? Greene?

        • MB30SD

my call…. jones baby. then greene… CD on in on rush down

Have you guys been gaming online with eachother lately? If so, what game and when? I’ve been playing a lot of Ghosts online lately. I still suck, but it’s been fun.

    • MB30SD

      DOC!!

Dude, I’ve sent you Ghost invites a couple times to no avail.

Shady and I play once in a while, waffle has opted out, and fucking rabbit inhabits another dimension. Just text me when you want to play and we’ll fire it up my maingses.

      • Doc Nitty

Really? I’ve seen no invites. Interesting. It’s rare that I get to play before 9PM. Maybe like once or twice a week.

        • MB30SD

ok, just freaking text me and we’ll make it happen maings.

          • Shady

Earl Bennett is cut by Browns. Zero reason for Bears not to bring him back.

Because he couldn’t make the Browns?

    • And the Browns aren’t going to have Josh Gordon either. And, ya know, they’re the Browns.

Earl will be on the Emery Roladex under “S” for “should have taken the pay cut”.

    • Trac

Jeff needs to do like the US soccer coach and roll the dice on fresh new talent. The Lovie era is over, time to move on.

      • MB30SD

        BINGO!

love this and am in FULL agreement. cept for peanut and briggsy (last year lambo), everything else out (you know, cept for cutty, matty, beast, and some linemen we need)

    • Irish Sweetness

We do need a slot receiver though ….. could it be something medical with Earl? We let him walk cheaply, maybe there was more to it than meets the eye. They never mention medical stuff.

  • I don’t know if Earl would have any interest in coming back to Chicago. If he does (or doesn’t have any other options), I’d be happy to have him in camp.

    • for min vet. Trestman supposedly really liked him, but he really wants to see what Wilson has in the slot.
Wilson could bomb though. But we won’t know that till a few games in.

      • that’s all Earl is looking at right now. One year, no guarantees, vet minimum. Pretty sure that’s what he had in Cleveland too.

      • Irish Sweetness

That’s okay, we got TT. Hands and height, 6’5 of it.

  • AlbertInTucson

Blogfather Tweet: “Who cares if Cleveland cut him? They are not known for their smarts. If Bennett returned he’d be third most reliable WR.”

He couldn’t make a team that is desperate for a receiver but he’d improve the Bears’ situation? The Browns new regime liked him SO much they didn’t even bother to take him to camp and see how he looked in exhibitions?

I liked Earl but that seems like a “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire” situation and that there may be something going on with Earl Bennett that we aren’t privy to.

    • bearsfantillend

“may be something going on with Earl Bennett that we aren’t privy to.”
maybe Earl did not like the situation/environment/offense/quarterbacks in cleveland and found a way out??? also knowing that training camps haven’t started yet and he would have a lot of opportunities to latch onto another club.

its the preseason, you can’t read that much into who gets cut and why.

    • SC Dave

I kinda have to go with both of these comments. I’m not sure Earl ever got past that spearing. Cocksucking Saints.

  • MB30SD

just got back from a ride and came in on the RUS v KOR game at the 49 min mark.

Are the russians dogshit this year or are the koreans good? Can’t tell which yet.

    • MB30SD

in the 10 minutes I’ve watched, the koreans just look like the much better/more polished side.

Russians seem to be really good at fouling though. (shocking… dodgy fucking russians)

break from soccer for one second (you’re welcome non-soccer fans)…

“A ban on high-capacity magazines would help stem gun violence in the United States, Hillary Clinton tells a CNN town hall meeting.”

Look, as a gun owner, hearing that is just frustrating. She sounds like a fucking card carrying party member regurgitating garbage.

…I say that not because I’m a gun fanatic or one of those survivalist ‘patriots’, because if I thought that was the answer, I’d gladly turn in all my weapons and take the loss to make ‘Murica safer.

It has nothing to do with high capacity magazines you fucking politician. What you morons really need to do is figure out how to help the crazies before they get their hands on gun. AND stop them from getting their hands on guns period. Normal, responsible gun owners aren’t the ones shooting people, the fucking diagnosed, released, not helped crazies are the ones shooting up people. they post fucking manifestos online on youtubz on facebook. the police know about this yet nothing is done.

SMFH. politicians in this country are so fucking useless.

    • bearsfantillend

agree with everything except gladly turning over my guns.

unfortunately there is a large number of people that agree with her. These people want a simple solution, they don’t want to believe that parts of society are just violent/crazies/trouble-makers. unfortunately throughout history politicians tend to pander to people’s fears however irrational, whether it is trying to blame guns, video games, music, or drugs. instead of looking at the real problems in society and how to fix them.

      • MB30SD

right. that would be too much actual, you know… work.

      • johnnywad

The real root problem is bad parenting. And you kinda can’t fix it. So yeah, we’re fucked.

    • No ‘easy’ solution exists. I mean, are we going to support a Youtube gustapo to troll it and target “dangerous” individuals? I mean, I’m sure that dude isn’t the only one with a creepy ass monologue (Irish, hiiidde!). It’s also hard to distinguish parody from serious shit.
Then we would have tighten laws up big time, and that can get tricky. For instance, no crazies can buy guns. OK. What illnesses do we accept as ‘violent’ or banned from guns? That can get 1984ish pretty quickly, but I’d be willing to give it a try. Like the leaders in psychological disorders deciding what illness is on the gun-ban list.
But again, this would take a MASSIVE effort and HIGHER taxes to create such an instituion to oversee it. And I doubt citizens would be enthused to create another such bureaucracy because they never thing crazy shit like that will ever happen to them.
It would take like an executive order to create it, and congress/senate to perhaps tweak a massive bill like that, which we all know would never pass/work because of NRA and politics.
So we’re back to square one (and that’s not even talking about ENFORCING such mandates).
Maybe a program like that call fall into the purvey of NIH or something, but unfortunately the gun debates are so politicized that it would never fly, unless a Republican pres with pragmatism and charm sells it, which…well…see…pigs, fly.
      In sum, we’re proper fucked.

      • MB30SD

yes, I agree… but improve the system in general AND make sure that people don’t have any prior mental illness OR even make people get an exam before they’re able to buy a gun.

        I’ve be all for that.

        • bearsfantillend

the background checks are supposed to check for mental illnesses, unfortunately each state has different laws for that. Also there is no simple tests/exams to determine mental illness, and some mental illness can show up at anytime in someones life, what if they already bought guns, do we make it a yearly exam in order to keep the guns?

          • MB30SD

true enough. hmmmm… I might be willing to do it every 3 or 5 years personally… but I know a whooooole lot of good ol boys wouldn’t

            like a hunting license right?

          • bearsfantillend

yep no easy answers, even if we were able to keep guns away from the mentally ill, there would probably still be problems. The funny thing about crazy people, is they tend to find ways to do crazy things.

          • Cormonster

I talked to my sister, who’s a psychiatrist, about this topic a while back. She thinks it will never work. People’s mental states can change on a dime , or they can be really well at concealing an illness.

          • This is what the “hypothetical” board would have to decide, Corm. For instance, if a person has been hospitalized for attempted suicide, sorry, no gun for you, even if you bounce back and transform into a model citizen.

Or there could be a time limit, like 5 year probation (but these ppl tend to snap or fall off the wagon rather mysteriously).

It’s one of those ‘happiness for the greater vs individual rights’ argument that we must pragmatically discuss and hopefully resolve, but I doubt it happens in my lifetime. A leader would have to inhabit the Whitehouse, and there hasn’t been one those in there in decades, and he got shot by his own government (No conspiracy theory there. That’s just a fact).

          • Irish Sweetness

Daddy has the gun. Troubled son is a teenager who knows where the gun is, and is familiar with the concept of lock and key. I don’t believe that being armed should be a right. An armed nation is not a safe nation.

            Fkn A on JFK though.

(unless you meant the Reagan-wounding, intended to shut him up on the alien issue)

          • Irish Sweetness

Tim Robbins nails it on brain chemistry.

    • SC Dave

      Clinton is a fucking idiot.

      • MB30SD

Actually, she’s very bright. .. unlike say gwb. But that’s not the problem. The problem is the system and what it rewards. They’re all clowns

    • Irish Sweetness

Different angles can be taken. If there was a gun in my household when I was younger I’d be dead 20 years or more. As I write this, my three year old twins are watching Toy Story beside me. Gun control is why they’re alive now. Guns won’t save the people from the powers that be. Stone cold killers trained to kill on orders. That’s not a fair fight so I’m all about gun control. It’s a bigger issue than just criminals. If you want to kill yourself, a gun makes it a lot easier. For those who have never sat down and thought out ways they could kill themselves (1) certainly (2) without repercussion (3) painlessly … it’s not easy. The gun is where it’s at. Lots of young men have those feelings, it shouldn’t be made easy for them.

    • CanadaBear

Doesn’t make any difference. Neither side cares about gun control. Both Dems and Repubs love guns. The US is so flooded with guns no matter what happens the horse is already out of the barn. Gotta give the NRA credit. They work the crowd perfectly. Every time a Dem is in the White house gun sales skyrocket. Even though neither side has done anything to curb guns the NRA has made sure the gun nuts fear the Dems. Colt, S&W, Ruger, etc love it when Dems get elected to the big office.

  • MB30SD

and now back to your regularly scheduled program….

          • MB30SD

            mmmmmmm… liiiiiipstick leeeesbooooooos.

  • John ‘GP’ Nada

Jeff is the king of the false dichotomy with this Bennett thing.

Ok, let’s play the game here.

I will name all the wideouts the Bears have past the “Big Boys”. Your job? copy and paste the names, and by each name put RH for “Rather Have” – as in ‘I’d rather have that guy than Bennett’ – or BJ for “Bennett, Jackass”.

This should ferret out the bullshit fairly quick. Because I will bet that Bennett doesn’t get any more than three BJs from anybody here.

    Marquess Wilson
    Josh Bellemy
    Amanti Edwards
    Domenic Hixon
    Josh Morgan
    Michael Spurlock
    Terrence Tolliver
    Eric Weems
    Chris Williams

    • Marquess Wilson-RH
      everybody else-BJ
maybe RH for Chris Williams and/or Josh Morgan. Basically let him compete with Morgan for WR4 spot

      • John ‘GP’ Nada

It’s that CFL highlight film, ain’t it?

      • SC Dave

Agree, although I’m not sold on Wilson. He has done nothing other than go train with Marshall. Big Fucking Deal.

        • that one is admittedly based on potential more than anything. Size/speed/hands all excellent. Watch his college highlights, kid was great. And now he’s bulked up, which was his biggest weakness.

          • Irish Sweetness

What size? 6’3 194? He needs another 10lbs minimum. Ideally another stone.

          • he’s up to about 210 now. Has really beefed up since being drafted.

    • Shady

Maybe I’m a homer, but I’d put Bennett at the top of that list easy.

      #BringBackEarl

      • John ‘GP’ Nada

Dude, Bennet ain’t got it anymore. Tolliver is a bigger threat.

        • Bennett was good enough to be the #3 last year over guys like Weems and Tolliver. He was a solid possession receiver who didn’t have a huge role in the offense but did it well. Caught a very high % of his targets and had very few drops. Also a few touchdowns.

          • you can do a LOT worse than Earl Bennett as your #4 WR. just look back to 2012, when that was Devin Hester.

          • CanadaBear

The last few games last season Earl caught a bunch of 1st downs and 4 TD’s. He’s a nice complementary player. You get better by improving your roster from the top down. Earl would be the 4th WR. He used to be #1 on the depth chart. I’d love to see him come back.

          • MB30SD

for vet min, why not if we have the roster spot for him.

          • Irish Sweetness

Tolliver is 6’5 mang, with good hands – they don’t grow on trees. Don’t throw that baby out with the bath water. We lose Brandon and we run out of good options very quickly at the position.

          • Tolliver has been unable to make a roster for like 3 straight years now. He’s never going to stick. Get over your man crush on him.

          • MB30SD

            tough love

          • SC Dave

It’s like that other WR… I don’t even remember his name. Dude failed to make like five different teams, but people on here wanted him so badly because of two preseason games.

          • Irish Sweetness

He’s the only backup we have for AJ and Brandon. Wilson doesn’t fit that bill. Doesn’t have a man’s body.

          • Wilson has beefed up to about 210 pounds.

            Tolliver isn’t making the roster.

          • Irish Sweetness

Source of 210 weight? He’s listed as 184 on the official site and elsewhere. Huge discrepancy. Huge.

          • Irish Sweetness

Here we go. Wilson is juicing. 23lbs? Just like that? Juicing.

            http://nflspinzone.com/2014/06/03/chicago-bears-wr-marquess-wilson-184-pounds-207/

          • Irish Sweetness

If anyone has seen Arnie’s excellent ESPN film on motivation, it took him a YEAR in the tank regiment to put on about exactly the same amount of weight (albeit muscle, which is heavier than fat).

            I smell growth hormones.

          • 207. Looks visibly beefed up in pictures, and all the media guys at practice have said at one point or another he looks visibly more muscular than last year.

            https://twitter.com/Rich_Campbell/status/473921220639870976

          • he did work all offseason with Marshall at his training facility in Miami. Same place that helped Alshon slim down last offseason. Trainer there is huge on nutrition and workouts to maximize your body.

(the packers thing was funny too)

  • beninnorcal

Earl Bennett: Tom Waddle’s more physically gifted less white modern version. I hope when I get up he’s a bear again, I like that guy alot (especially on third and whatever).

    • Irish Sweetness

Tom Waddle over Bennett in a heartbeat. It’s not even a discussion.

      • Big Mike

Statistically, they are nearly identical. Waddle only lasted 4 years. Not really a blow out.

        • Irish Sweetness

No sleight on Earl, but Tom was solid.

          • beninnorcal

No slight on either, Tom waddle was clutch, one of my favorites as well. They both made big catches.

    • John ‘GP’ Nada

This has been going on for years and years. Every World Cup they expect a “bounce” to the MLS that never materializes.

Aussies about to get fucking SPANKED!

Can wait to talk massive shit to my CEO… who’s been relentless about reminding me that SA has been conspicuously absent from the country of Brazil this month.

I told him, that’s ok, the aussies are about to be the first team to go home today on a very embarrassing final note. I have it 4-0.

    Hee hee

    Ps. Dutch chicks are hot.

    • SC Dave

Missed already, since the Aussies have a goal.

      • MB30SD

        yep. they’re doing really well.

We’ll see what happens in the second, but I have a feeling the dutch will wake up at some point. Aussies being super aggressive and it’s worked well for them.

My Beloved Bride and I were in Amsterdam about 15 years ago. We stayed in the city center. That part of the city is at least 40-50% gay people. who gives a shit about all that, it’s about the government overstepping their bounds.

      • Sactowns#1

Well they ban boobs from being shown on TV and I find boobs far less offensive than the racist football organization of washington. The govt has a long history of regulating decency

        • MB30SD

          exactly.

so in summary… Free the Boobies!!!!

    • They’re all blaming Obama for this ‘national tragedy’? lol didn’t the patent office decide the name was offensive?
Also, Dan Snyder can still keep the name, right? Only now, any tom-dick-or-harry can create their own shirt, gear, and not be doing anything illegal. So Snyder, if you really are a man of principle, you’ll keep the name for the sake of what you perceive as right, just, tradition.

Yeah, search for a new logo to profit off starts in 3…2…1…

    • Cormonster

The patent office sure does move slow. It took 82 years to figure out that the term Redskins is offensive.

Apparently these guys were trained by the US in Jordan to fight against Assad in Syria. Not sure if the plan was to have them topple what’s his face’s “government” in Iraq, but here we are.

        • MB30SD

dude, check the history books. Any and every 3rd world rebel force that comes back to take brutal power, or at least challenge for it, was trained, armed, and funded by some rich 1st word nation to help undermine and topple the previous brutal dictator and rape/pillage resources they want from said country (no other reason whatsoever).

nicaragua, el salvador, iraq, mozambique, angola, the DRC, Rhodesia (yes, rhodesia… fuck mugabe right in his face for what he’s done to that beautiful country and people), iran (to a lesser degree), etc…etc…etc…

They whole system has never worked, but it’s the way things are always done. same old same old.

          • Shady

            mmmhmmmm

          • SC Dave

Except we are a poor, nearly bankrupt first world nation…

          • MB30SD

            sigh

          • Irish Sweetness

The USA has been effectively bankrupt since 1933.

The Fed/Rothschilds/Rockefellers/Morgans have been running the show since then with the world’s longest and largest Ponzi scheme, whereby private banks create wealth out of thin air and then lend it to the government at interest …. and people are digging it.

“In reaction to the Great Depression, Congress passed the Banking Act of 1933, better known as the Glass-Steagall Act, calling for the separation of commercial and investment banking and requiring use of government securities as collateral for Federal Reserve notes. The Act also established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), placed open market operations under the Fed and required bank holding companies to be examined by the Fed, a practice that was to have profound future implications, as holding companies became a prevalent structure for banks over time. Also, as part of the massive reforms taking place, Roosevelt recalled all gold and silver certificates, effectively ending the gold and any other metallic standard.”

Until 1933, Federal Reserve notes were indeed redeemable in gold, but the bridging loan made to the government to prevent it from defaulting has resulted in the most powerful nation on earth now owing 17 trillion … and counting. And that my dears is a legislated fact that can be undone if you all write your Congressman and they do their job. Problem solved.

    • Shady

Nothing like indiscriminant bombing to garner some love.

      • MB30SD

        too much?

    • Irish Sweetness

Yesterday, Hassan Rouhani, president of Shia-dominated Iran, vowed to defend holy sites in Iraq. He said: “Regarding the holy Shia shines in Karbala, Najaf, Kadhimiya and Samarra, we announce to the killers and terrorists that the big Iranian nation will not hesitate to protect holy shrines.

They hesitated indefinitely back in 2003 then ….

  • Trac

Rough day MB? I picked the Croats because those bastards don’t like to go quietly into the night.

    • MB30SD

      yes sir. brutal.

I picked CMR because I was hoping one african nation would step up (still hoping it’s my secret crush CdI). I figured the speed, athleticism, and raw skill of CMR would wear down the middle of the pack croats… but the fucking african squads are all the same. They totally lack discipline, strategy, and teamwork where it counts. They get with 5 meters of the box and they just fucking fall apart. Just a gooey, amorphous mess. taking bad shots, selfish play, horrible angles, no patience, etc… etc…

      (insert conte joke here)

      • MB30SD

        singing endorsement huh? smh.

      • SC Dave

Honestly, I did not think it would be close. The Croats are a *strong* team, and had to be bristling from the ream job they got from FIFA in the opener v. Brazil.

        • MB30SD

meh, they aren’t close to a strong team dave. they’re mid pack. They beat up a bad ramshackle cameroon team today.

          • Irish Sweetness

    • For your consideration….

I just have a feeling that the D is going to step up and play with aggression and swagger. They will get burnt from time to time but opposing bitches will get Jericho’d more often than not. There is no doubt of that. Crazy Willy Young off the edge, hands flailing around like a spaz. Lamarr Houston being fucking huge and hulking on the edge. Izzy transcending age and skill. A healthy Ratliff, Allen playing with the zeal of a guy dating a girl for the first time, giving spa quality back massages in an effort to put the head in, Peanut sneaking in the HOF with turnover after turnover, Jennings being all tiny huge and awesome…..

Then the offense takes the field and puts the skin in the fucking endzone. Fucking Matt “Roger Craig” Forte, twin towers at WR, the black uni, the fucking Flesh Cannon??? Jesus I have a stiffy just thinking about this madness.

Not to mention that nerdball Gould, the fucking best kicker the Bears have ever had. in fucking the history of the team.

      • SC Dave

I’ll still be wearing #9 at the Alehouse, and I’m good with that. The best #9 we’ve had, i.e. the current one. Sorry Irish.

        • For your consideration….

We need Robbie to kill it this year. No stalled drives, only points.

          • MB30SD

who wants to give a little love shout out to pat ‘stronger than our 1st rd OLB bust’ o’donnell?

            you’re welcome jeff.

          • bearsfantillend

hell he is stronger than most people on the team.

        • Irish Sweetness

Nothing to be sorry for Dave – it’s not true. Mac won us a superbowl. Robbie is a fan favorite, that’s all he is.

No crowning of Jay or Robbie until the Lombardi is back in Halas Hall, they’re just another Bears squad until then. We’re coming off the worst defensive season in our history, and nobody on the team can say diddly squat until that trophy comes back home.

          This could be interesting.

          Straw poll : The Bears’ greatest-ever #9 ?

    • We should have drafted Johnny Football! That way we could have had the most hated QB tandem of all time.

      • Irish Sweetness

Bring Jimmy Mac back as a QB coach and they can hate on the whole room.

  • John ‘GP’ Nada

Honesty time: I think England is gonna get rolled up on tomorrow.

    • SC Dave

England is perennially overrated, and this Cup is no different than any others. They are the next “power” to be eliminated. Followed by Portugal.

      • MB30SD

Agree 100% on england… not convinced about portugal, although they looked a lot like spain in that first game. We’ll see sunday if they respond the same way

        • SC Dave

Well, one of one so far. We will eliminate Portugal

          • Irish Sweetness

            That’s very possible.

    • Irish Sweetness

They get rolled up in EVERY tournament. There is/was only 4 million people in Ireland and they haven’t beaten us since 1985.

  • SC Dave
    • ‘That was accomplished in large part because Cutler responded to the
coaching of Kromer, coach Marc Trestman and quarterbacks coach Matt
Cavanaugh in ways he seldom appeared to in his fractious times with Ron
Turner, Mike Martz and Mike Tice.’

Weren’t ppl initially worried that Cavanaugh would rub Cutty the wrong way? I vaguely remember something along those lines.

Very true, the QB releasing the ball quickly equals less hits. Marino and Peyton prove that.

But the oline can’t be utter garbage either. Look what happened Peyton in the SB against a good pass rush. Gotta have a good oline, rb, wr and gameplan to execute + QB smarts.

      I def think we’ll be a top 3 O.

I’ve been looking at the teams the US squad has in its group. Ghana was not a win to gain any confidence from for the US’s next two matchups. Don’t see how we can beat Portugal. And Germany? Forget about it.

      Exactly.

Portugal is going to be piiiised. And we ain’t no Chile. Unless they totally implode like spain, a wins going to be a miracle

      Germans. .. hahahahahaha.

      • Bender McLugh

COMPLETELY disagree. Are you kidding? Ghana is fast as hell and the US played with them. Germany is def a step up, the class of the Group of Death.

HOWEVER…..without another burner in Jozy Altidore to stretch the field offensively I don’t know that the US will be able to survive the next round.

Remember, Germany will handle Ghana, and if the US gets a measly point against Portugal they’ll be through. After that……oye.

        • MB30SD

yes, but wishing it to happen because we’d love that outcome, and being realistic about the realities of the situation are two very diff things.

Bottom line, portugal is the stronger side. Not sure what’s going on this WC, but if portugal comes back to stat, we’re fucked on sunday.

          • Bender McLugh

I see Portugal as overrated, so it’s realistic in my eyes.

          • MB30SD

they def played like it G1. We’ll see my maings. They very well may come out and pull a spain. They def started the exact same way.

Just like the country itself portugal is like an older, rougher spain… and they’re not the total prima donnas that spain has become. I think they bounce back and spank the fuck out of us… but I’ve been wrong in the last couple days badly, so who knows.

          • Bender McLugh

here’s hoping you are wrong (we know you are…..) lol

          • MB30SD

Hahahaha… dude sticks with his side no matter what, takes a flyer on an african team(s) and all of a sudden he can’t call games. I think I was only one down going into yesterday

          • SC Dave

Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!

Portugal are a shadow of what they were, very beatable for the USA. Wouldn’t have said that before the WC.

btw, look for the older more raw stuff, the newer stuff is getting a little too polished and not edgy enough. not my style

          • Bender McLugh

            nice, I’ll check it

    • Cormonster

I seen Franti about 5 years ago at the 20th annual Warren Haynes Christmas jam, night 2. Awesome show. Other bands included Ben Harper and Relentless 7, Steve Earle, Johnny Winter, Coheed and Cambria, with Gov’t Mule ending the night with John Paul Jones and a long Led Zeppelin set. I was not prepared. The show started at 7:30 pm and didn’t end until after 4 am. Needless to say we were exhausted. Franti and OAR both happened to play the same night at the 25th annual xmas jam last December.

      • MB30SD

nice. also a big fan of jurassic five

        • Cormonster

Did you ever check out Tedeschi Trucks Band? Been pushing them on da site for a few years now.

          • Irish Sweetness

            She? Dude! Derek!

He played on stage with Clapton when he was a kid. Don’t think the show had started yet though.

    GOOOOAAALLL! Uru!

      • MB30SD

        Hahahahaha…

shady, you’re upset about a TE who can’t fucking catch the ball.

Like, a fucking bowler who can’t get strikes. SMFH

        • Shady

My guy! Onobun is now onabus out of town. I need a new “guy” to pull for to make the team. Maybe I’ll wait until Bourbonnais to place the jinx.

          • SC Dave

Go with Conte. Just for MB.

          • MB30SD

            thanks dave!

and I trust the end result will ultimately be the same. juuuust a matter of time my maings

          • MB30SD

          • Irish Sweetness

            Onabus!

          • MB30SD

onabus the FUCK out of Chicago finally.

    • AlbertInTucson

My only question about this move is, “What took so long?”

      • he had enough physical ability that it was worth keeping him on PS for a year to see if he could learn how to catch working with the jugs machine. I have no problems with that.

I still think Emery’s biggest mistake this offseason was virtually ignoring the TE position. A guy like AC Leonard could have been had in UDFA. I know he brought in Zach Miller and Matthew Mulligan, but that’s not enough IMO.

        • AlbertInTucson

Fendi was the Roberto Duran of tight ends.

          “Manos de Piedra” .

          Translation: “Hands of Stone”.

damn just outside the top 10.

  • Trac

The English folded like a cheap suit. I always thought Rooneys spot on the team was blown out of proportion even though he scored a goal that even a child wouldn’t have missed today. Gerard just doesn’t have it anymore. Another pathetic performance.

    • SC Dave

As I said before, England sucks. The most perennially overrated team in all of sports.

      • somebody on Twitter today was trying to say group D was tougher than group G (US group) because they had 3 top teams and group G only had 2.

I countered with the fact that US is just as good as England and Germany/Portugal both better than anybody in group D (Italy/Uruguay) in FIFA rankings.

He didn’t buy the US/England comp. US won group with both in 2010. What has England done in the last 5 years to make you think they’re special? They’re exactly like US: good but not great team that is a threat to advance if things break right but not going to get anywhere past the quarters (and even that requires a lot of luck).

        • MB30SD

FIFA rankings don’t mean shit. they’re rubbish and have no bearing on how good a team actually is… from my POV

          • yeah, I agree there. But Germany is clearly the best team from the 2 groups, and then Portugal/Italy/Uruguay all about the same, IMO.

Then USA/Britain/Ghana all about the same to me.

            CR clearly the worst.

          • MB30SD

agree with that overall assessment. Although I might put Italy slightly above the others… we’ll see how they play their next match.

  • Trac

Here’s my solution the the Redskins dilemma. Get rid of the name, shitcan the Indian image on the side of the helmet and replace it with a Hog. The Washington “pig skins”. Problem solved.

  • MB30SD

jesus, this match feels like it’s gone 120 minutes already. Painful.

    • johnnywad

Soccer would be more fun to watch if they simply removed the offsides rule. More scoring, more interesting. One mistake can win or lose a World Championship. 1-0, 2-1 games are just boring.

      • MB30SD

honestly johnny, I find the most boring games are obviously the low scoring ones, but it’s compounded when I don’t give a shit about either side.

at least if you want one side to win you have ups and downs to experience… this match…

        DOOOOOOONNNNNN’TTTT CAAAAAAARRREEEEE!

      • SC Dave

Maybe. Although one of the best matches I’ve seen was nil nil back in 94, i think. Was with fans of one team at a party and there was one fan of the otber team. The tension on every chance was palpable, and that day i realized what this copa mundial is all about.

    • soccer gets boring in a hurry when one team’s primary objective is to sit back and not let the other team score. Don’t play for a 0-0 draw.

      • MB30SD

I guess… japan was doing its very best today. seems like you need that one/two guys who know how to finish.

        PUT THAT COFFEE.. DOWN!

        • I had no qualms with how Japan played. Greece is like watching paint dry though. And they ALWAYS play like that.

          • MB30SD

yep. I actually like japan. They were trying their hardest. But it does say something that they couldn’t put one in against the greek side. Yuck.

  • MB30SD

    BTW, trac….

    ITA
    FRA
    HON

    • Trac

Italy-Costa Rica will come back down to earth.tomorrow.
Switzerland-One of the top teams in the tournament.
Equador-Honduras is just too lower echelon to pick. smh.

What happened to you MB, your ass used to be beautiful! hahahaha You know I still respect you.

      • MB30SD

        we shall see my maings!

I’ve gotten all of my must-picks out of the way… now it’s all about war. Swiss are going to get fucking dismantled tomorrow. Your fall is NIGH!

        • SC Dave

The Italians can never be dark horses, unless you are backing them to win the “Team that dives the least” award. For THAT, they’d be a true dark horse.

          • MB30SD

The Columbians did a s pretty spectacular job today.

Yeah, I’m waiting for the Italians and french to come back to form. Maybe it won’t happen. Maybe their time is over… but that would be sad. Not quite as sad as say… watching your juggernaut adopted Spanish side fail out of the cup in said spectacular fashion. Sigh.

  • MB30SD

wow, izzy released according to jeff’s tweet. : (

    • Bender McLugh

      WTF
must assume he is beyond his good self, makes me sad

      • MB30SD

sad, but in general agree with trac. Out with the old, in with the new… unless you’re one of our superstars.

        Sorry Izzy.

        • NewBearInTown
          • NewBearInTown

Also Fendi Onobun, who always gave the illusion of a second tight end.
If Martellus gets hurt, we’re really thin at that position.

          • Irish Sweetness

Also at safety and quarterback. Phil has work to do.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

          • MB30SD

“Chicago also waived safety Sean Cattouse”

            Yonny… NOOOOOOOO!

  • MB30SD

dude, I have an answer to the situation in Iraq

oh, and drones… tons and tons of drones

    • Cormonster

Who are we trying to kill? Sunnis, Shias, Kurds, or all of them? Who’s religious side are we for?

      • MB30SD

fuck it… if it moves and has a gun/RPG/car with guns/people in the back, etc…

        crush it.

        • Cormonster

Or the US could just stay away. Maybe find a new country to bomb, like the more populated areas of Sudan or Somalia. Save the drones for countries with a lower population density, like Libya, Oman, Yemen, and the Waziristan regions of Pakistan. More bang for the buck.

          • MB30SD

yeah, I’m over all of it.

          • johnnywad

Same here. And like you said above, if it looks like it needs to be handled, handle it harshly and from afar. I can’t shake the disgrace of all the soldiers we’ve sent in our name that are fucked up beyond repair in their 20’s. And for what? AQ just took over an Iraqi oil refinery this week. Are you shitting me? We’ve been gone like 10 minutes. There is no solution. We’ve tried everything from Jimmy Carter sucking everybody’s dick and apologizing for being Americans to George Bush taking the whole country and attempting to establish a pro West government. And what do we get for it? Dead and maimed bodies and $4.00 gas. Nice. As I said, no solution so fuck it.

          • MB30SD

            this

          • Irish Sweetness

Or Tokyo. Didn’t get to nuke that the first time. Very high pop density and definitely a winner in the bang-for-buck stakes.

Or a really big puppy farm that backs onto a hospital for kittens.

          • johnnywad

            I’m voting just stay away.

  • Cormonster
    • MB30SD

Editorials at the Guardian are none too kind to the World Cup team tonight.

This is the first time in 26 years the UK didn’t go to the 16, and there is a distinct displeasure in it.

  • MB30SD

it’s no one’s business, but I feel the same way.

    http://tracking.si.com/2014/06/17/brady-quinn-not-fan-of-johnny-football-persona/

That, and I’m sure manziel is very worried about what brady fucking quinn thinks about being the face of a franchise NFL QB. (hee hee)

    • John ‘GP’ Nada

Frankly, the NFL could use a bad boy QB. Quinn, Clausen and so many of these wonder breads get stamped out – I’d love for RG3 to answer the question boldly when a reporter asked RG3 if it was okay they be called the blackskins when he said Redskins was fine. Be bold, defy the team – be a bad boy and speak your mind – we all know RG3 thinks Redskins is racist – SAY IT.

So sick of these corporate toe-the-tine toadies I would love a reversion to the John Matuszak type of outspoken-ness. Makes the NFL more colorful.

So I hope Johnny Football jumps a Harley through a plate glass window on his way to a hookers and blow pool party. You go, kid.

      • MB30SD

I don’t have an issue with that MO, I have an issue with the fact that he’s a self righteous aggrandizing little prick.

The Gronk is your man GP. He’s the hookers and blow pool party poster boy, AND he’s a good dude, and a badass on the field (when he’s not hurt).

He’s dumb as a sack of very dumb claw hammers, but he seems to be a good all around dude.
