Not sure if that still qualifies as a FIRST world problem.

Speaking of which, are we going to be able to chat live on this site during the game? Cause that’d be greaaat.

    • DaBearsBlog

Doubtful for this week. But working on it moving forward.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

From out, to doubtful, to probable. Just like Gronk…

  • Trac

Is it just me or does anybody else notice an occasional post disappearing?

    • What do you mean?

      • Trac

I’ve posted a couple of comments only to have them disappear when I went back to check on replies. It’s happened twice.

  • TheBigCheesy

Just saw that Julius Peppers getting $18 million next year? He’s getting cut, right? Or Restructured?

    • Waffle

If I was a fan of another team, a rival, I would be typing this as a subtle dig at the fan base already pissed off about the abrupt turnaround.

    • SC Dave

      Depends… if Peppers-Rodgers is Wooten-Favre revision 2.0, I say pay him.

  • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Yo! I’ve confirmed that I’ll be in the Chi for the Nov. 10th game vs. the Lions. If anyone else is going or just wants to do dinner at Ditka’s again, lemme know. I’ll hit town around noon on Saturday with some friends and leave on Monday.
    Can’t WAIT.

    • Waffle

I think i’d be in for that. I just earned a lot of points with the wife and should be able to cash in some of that currency with a dinner or drinks for the Lions weekend. Are you going to the game or will you just be in town that weekend?

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

Will be at the game fo sho.

    • DaMurph

      Doin that Kobe Burger again?

      • MikeBrownhadaPosse

No doubt, Murph…been dreaming about that burger for the last year.

  • Waffle

Look into my creepy ass soulless eyes when I say this to you.
    RG3 dead
    Pep returns
    Fucking Bear Down.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Seriously, some up-and-coming FBI agent needs to run a background check on that dude. Maybe get a search warrant based on the probable cause of ‘creepiness’. Time to get those mutilated half eaten bodies in his freezer secret room some justice.

      • Waffle

lol, he’s the nicest guy. He never looks like that normally.

            And Jeff Dahlmer.

    • Trac

By the way Waffle, who is that dude on your avatar?

  • Sactowns#1

I was on my couch watching the Shining last night (my gf fell asleep about midway and when I woke her up at the end she said “did it get scary at all?” She’s 26 smh)
when I started to think about the negative nancy bullshit that has crept in here. Surely Johnny wouldnt be with them, Cutty’s #1 cheerleader. Nor would Trac, who has put up with all of our merciless antagonization, and certainly not Erik, I mean the man weighs 100lbs soaking wet and he wore a Superman suit to a game. No certainly not these guys. But yet here they are, fans of a winning team, one of the greatest professional sports organizations out there, going in to play a losing team with a sophmore QB. BEAR DOWN GENTLEMEN!! Hold fast and have some faith, The Bears shall be victorious this weekend!

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I think trepidation is valid. The Bears have a habit of letting bad teams stick around (Vikes, Steelers, Giants). IMO, the Skins are better than all three.

We also have two recent seasons of starting off hot then missing the playoffs, so there’s that conditioning.

Add some awful defense and specials for numerous reasons, and there’s enough ‘reasonable doubt’.

Still. FUCK the Potato Skins. I hope Bmarsh teabags DeAngelo Hall for 5TDs, and that Bostic hits RG3 so hard that he’ll need to get clearance from a psychiatrist next week.

      • Trac

Shanny is pretty smart and I hope Trestman out coach’s him this weekend.

        • CanadaBear

His ST’s seem like they always suck. I can still remember Devin running back punts against that bozo punter we use to have. Thankfully I can’t remember the idiot’s name.

          • Cormonster

Todd Sourbum. That asshat made a PB or two because he could outkick his coverage.

          • CanadaBear

I knew it was Todd something or other. I’ve tried to erase all memories of that jackass. He was a second rounder. Only the fuckin’ Bears would do that. I had to look it up. Devin ran back a punt and a KO for TD’s against Denver and Peanut blocked a punt. All in the same game. Sauerbrun also did the kickoffs. One of my favorite moments as a Bears fan.

    • Waffle

I put 400.00 on the Bears. RG3 is dead.

    • Trac

Nothing wrong with acknowledging a few blemish’s Sac. I think this weeks game is very winnable if Cutty and the boys utilize their weapons on O and play keepaway from the Redskins. Whoever wins the T.O.P. wins this game. I’d also like to see a solid running game from Forte on Sunday.

      • SC Dave

+many on the Forte thing. Grind them bitches into the turf

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Peanut and Payaya off the menu…I see what you did there.

We have a motely crew here, that’s for sure.

Chicago Bears have placed LB D.J. Williams on injured reserve and promoted LB Jerry Franklin from practice squad to active roster.
I know it’s a backup linebacker with no real pedigree but I thought Franklin played with intensity in the pre-season and knew that he’d make the roster at some point. He’ll lay the wood on some dude and people will be all like Jerry who? And i’ll be like, Jerry fucking Franklin man.

    • Trac

      Jerry Franklin? All righty then!

      • gpldan

He was awesome in Different Strokes

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

There’s some talk about Costanzo starting at MLB and Bostic at SLB if Anderson is too hobbled. Needless to say, that would not bode well for our run or pass D.

      • Waffle

honestly i’d rather have Bostic at Mike and Greene at Sam if that is the case. Costanzo brings nothing.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I know Jeff hates PFF and Stats Inc (don’t know why), but I found this interesting.

    https://twitter.com/BenVolin/status/391240236476297216/photo/1

Bears blitz 27.8%, which ranks 21st.

    Cards at 54.7% #1;

Lions 13.1% #32 (most likely because Suh is playing out of his mind right now and no need to blitz).

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Interesting to look for correlations. It seems like those teams which blitz most have losing record or aren’t very good. 1.Ariz, 2. Hou, 3, Oak, 4 WAS, 5. GB (exception), 6.PHI, 7.MIA (Exception), 8. Ten, 9. BUF, 10.Indy (Exception).

On the flip side, the 10 teams which blitz least:

      32. Lions, 31 JAX (suckage), 30 DAL, 29. SF, 28. CAR (good D), 27. MIN (Suckage), 26. NE, 25. TB (Their D is actually solid), 24. SEA, 23. CIN, 23. NYJ (Again, D solid)

I have visions of the Rev. in the jungle, holding an iPad – creeping up on some barbed wire fence that encircles a POW camp – just to get in range of the Wifi. He bribed the taxi driver at the airport for the SSID password in ciggys.

    Malawi is somewhat interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malawi

Sucks that they’re landlocked. Are the beaches in the adjacent country nice? Man, that side of the globe really looks like mars to me. I haven’t heard of many of those little islands between Africa and India. Does anyone know if they’ve become western resorts, or are they still ‘virgin’?

Now when I’m in L.A. traffic, I’ll be thinking about Saychelles which sounds like “Say Chills”

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)
      • MB30SD

depends where you go. Check that link to the north island resort… $2-$5k/day.

If you want to live like a normal human, it can be pretty cheap. Quick story…

The same couple I mentioned above was attacked and robbed in their house one night. The police caught the 3 locals who did it and they were arrested. Of course they didn’t make it back to the station because supposedly they all tried to escape and were all shot to death by the arresting cops. Course no one really knows how they managed to try and escape while handcuffed and in the back of the police truck, but you know… small details.

        • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Man, that place looks awesome. Looks really small too, which seems like it would make it hard for criminals. So one could live on the cheap, or is everything so westernized that it’s pretty much just like living in Hawaii? Fuck, if it cost as much as Hawaii, might as well just move there lol

          • MB30SD

depends maings. If you want property, it can be tough because there’s not much available. Basic foodstuffs are cheap, but things that have to be brought over via ship are expensive. Like building materials, luxury items are even more expensive than normal, and yes, if you want to live the expat resort life then yeah, it’s probably pretty spensive.

But if you want a little shake on some underpopulated bay… you can probably subsist on the mangoes, papayas, and star fruit that grow all over your property… and if you’re a decent fisherman. Bingo!!

As for the scenery, simply breathtaking man. Seriously. insanely amazing. There are a few islands (mahe the main island, prasline, bird island, etc…) They all pretty much look like this: http://www.willgoto.com/images/Size3/Seychelles_Mahe_Anse_Diri_89880b588c8a4d08bcf31c925e86c0ed.JPG

I’m planning to go back in the next year.

          • MB30SD

Oh, and the country below malawi… Mozambique… also insane in the north. My parents used to go to the capital in the south all the time before the war.

My bro and I went back in 2000. Just destruction, ruin, and abject poverty… but beauty and prawns the size of small lobsters. Paradise. I’ll tell you stories if we ever meet.

          • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

That’s awesome, my man. That place and the surrounding islands look like paradise to me. But I suspected that many have been turned into western resorts by now.

Want to pull an Ian Fleming and just retreat to some obscure island with a type writer and rum, but not sure if there’s such a thing as ‘obscure islands’ anymore.

Gotta tell me those stories. Maybe they’ll match my ex-roomate’s “Ukranian adventures” lol

    From the FF world.

Jay Cutler has completed 64 of his last 89 throws (71.9
percent) for 759 yards (8.53 YPA) with a 6:0 TD-to-INT ratio and two
    successful two-point conversions.

It’s a two-plus-game stretch. Even better, Cutler gets to
tee off on the Redskins’ defense in Week 7. Although there have been a
handful of bumps along the way, Cutler is playing noticeably more
controlled, efficient football in first-year coach Marc Trestman’s
offense, which currently ranks third in the NFL in points scored and
11th in yards. Read more stats and observations like this in Evan
Silva’s Week 7 Matchups column, accessible at the link below.

  • CanadaBear

Washington’s D played fairly well against the cowgirls last week. it also looked like RG3 has gotten his legs back. Both things could make for a long day for the Beloved. Their ST’s are truly suspect so maybe Devin goes off. At this point, our ST’s look like crap. I see this one going down to the wire with us pulling a rabbit out of the hat at the end (not unlike last week). Needless to say, not feeling very confident.

  • MB30SD

  • CanadaBear

Just read the Harris poll rating NFL team’s popularity. Fudgies #2, The Beloved #6, BiQueens #13 and the Kitties #22.

  • CanadaBear

The one good thing about Bostic playing this week is he has a ton of experience playing against read option QB’s. There’s no doubt in my mind he’s going to blow up RG3 at least once.

  • CanadaBear

The tweet from Andrew Brandt is beyond depressing. “Michael Wacha, 19th pick in 2012 MLB Draft, received $1.9M bonus. Shea McClellin, 19th pick in 2012 NFL Draft, received $4.5M bonus.” Not that there is any correlation between NFL and MLB contracts, but the thought of a $4.5 mil bonus for CD is troubling to say the least. So far I think that works out to about $1 mil/sack. A little less per tackle but not much less. I’ve hated the pick ever since I saw him play. Get a warm body to take his place on the line, make him a LB and put him on all 4 ST’s already! At least try to get something for the money.

Trestman is quoted as saying he’s getting better, getting close, great motor, great work ethic, etc. All of that means he’s not getting it done. Fuck Me!

    • Cormonster

The Packers have only two healthy OLB right now. They are starting 2 rookies this week, a 6th rounder and an undrafted guy. Unfortunately, Thompson doesn’t ever trade his draft picks.

      • CanadaBear

I’d hate to trade/release him without seeing him at LB. I don’t dislike him but he isn’t and never will be a competent DE in the NFL.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

This would be the perfect pretext to move Shea to MLB too. Depleted depth at the position, etc. God, Shea at DE is beginning to remind me of “Hester is a #1 WR” or “Grossman is our QB” – obstinacy in the face of truth.

I always see Shea loop right past the QB. IF he had more explosion, or a lethal spin move a la Freeney, then maybe he’d be more effective, but Shea doesn’t possess elite explosion, little punch, no ‘butt power’. He’s fast, but needs a few steps to get there, and by then he just gets funneled out or straight stoned.

I think the Bears are banking on Shea cleaning up his mechanics, but Shea needs to be technically perfect to pressure at this point – no margin for error.

Shea will prob spy a lot this game, but that comes at a price.

      • god. shut up already with the nay saying on our boy from Boise St. By drafting Shea we kept him from the Packers. not to mention, SHEA HAS CEILING.

        uch.

        • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Only way Shea redeems himself at this point is if he injures both Rodgers and Stafford. Then maybe he’ll get a pass.

          • i’d also take him averaging a sack a game from here until the end of his career.

    • johnnywad

      Shea hit the lottery

  • Shady

    DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog

DBB will be testing our game day chat room tomorrow thanks to @heyitsnoah . Stop by and chat.

    Woot woot!

  • CanadaBear

    One reason for optimism tomorrow.

Washington is last in the league in punt coverage at 19.1 yards allowed per return and 28th in kickoff coverage at 26.4.

    • Waffle

      another reason:
Jay Cutler to (insert name here)
      You may choose from:
      a. Brandon Marshall
      b. Alshon Jeffrey
      c. Martellus Bennett
      d. Earl Bennett
      e. Matt Forte

      • MB30SD

        f. all of the above

        ?

    • Waffle

I hope Devin breaks one tomorrow. That would pump up a team that needs a jolt on D. A nice 3 and out followed by a punt return TD would be huge.

      • MB30SD

        don’t hold your breath maingses

  • MB30SD

I honestly don’t get the move shea to MLB movement. I won’t go into why, I just don’t get it.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

This is the way I see it. Shea is 6’3. He’s pretty fast, just not explosive. That means he can have range, and in our Cover 2, being tall, fast and rangy causes all sorts of problems.

He can’t be worse than Lach at shedding blocks (can he?); I mean, that would be pretty bad for our current DE. Shea seems like he’s smart and instinctual. Obviously the Bears staff feels like he can cover too since they had him covering Graham on one play. Not that it’ll matter much because he’ll be dropping into zone, but nice to have in his pocket.

Oh, and he can blitz. If D.J. Williams caused some havoc, imagine what a Shea would be able to do from the middle, or wherever. I think Shea would make a nice MLB.

But then that would mean Bostic, Anderson and Green would battle it out for SLB? Green is a former safety, so that would bode well for coverage, but SLB also has to be stout against the run, where Bostic might have the upper hand. And of course, Anderson is already good at both.

So, if Shea gets moved to MLB, then I see a camp battle of Bostic/Shea at MLB, Anderson/Green at SLB, and Briggs will hold down the WLB.

Unless of course, Emery just wants to go all young, in which case it would be – Green-Shea-Bostic (this obviously would be to save cap to perhaps sign a stud Dlinemen next year).

  • MB30SD
