Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles Game Day Thread

| December 22nd, 2013

thread

We’re putting up one post for the entire day of games, including tonight’s Bears at Eagles contest. To follow me throughout the day, you can check the Twitter feed or on the right rail of this page or just go and FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER BY CLICKING HERE.

Here’s what you need to know about today’s games.

  • If Detroit wins and Green Bay wins, status quo. Bears must win.
  • If Detroit wins and Green Bay loses, status quo. Bears must win.
  • If Detroit loses and Green Bay loses, the Bears have two cracks at the division title over the next two weeks.
  • If Detroit loses and Green Bay wins, Sunday night’s game is effectively meaningless (outside seeding) as Week 17 v. Green Bay will be for the division title.

Enjoy a day and night of football.

  • Jokey

    Detroit beats Giants then Vikings
GB wins today, and we lose – it pains me to type this.

Last and least importantly, do I start Rivers vs. Oakland, or Newton vs. NO?

    • IBNO

      Rivers.

      Always bet against Oakland. Always.

      • Irish Sweetness

Except when OAK play at home and the opponent is SD.

        Go Bears

    • Cutty Badger don’t give a fuck

Jokey, you must stop this pussy behavior asap, the game is in several hours and we need you in good form. Take a drink and man up.

  • Jokey

Secondly, the Chicago dog has nothing on the Philly cheesesteak. It’s not a fair fight, really – $1.50 vs. 15 cents worth of meat, who’d you expect would win?

    • IBNO

Chicago style hot dog every day and twice on Sunday. Any sandwich that comes with “whiz” is not worth eating–don’t get me wrong, a Philly cheesesteak with real steak & real cheese is good. But a Chicago style hot dog is just plain awesomeness on a bun.

Onions and sport peppers rip my stomach up anymore, so I have to plan ahead and eat a bucket of tagamet before a hot dog, but it’s totally worth it.

      • CanadaBear

Onions kill me these days. I can still eat peppers but the next day is a bad, bad thing. Too much information perhaps? I’m not even a hot dog kinda guy but prefer a Chicago dog to a Philly Cheesesteak. I’ve never had one with decent ingredients. It was always a greasy shittin’ mess. UGH!

      • Bender McLugh

While there’s no comparison to a well prepared Vienna beef dog and any variation of the Philly cheese steak, I still do like me some cheese steak with crisps and whiz.

But nothing compares to Italian Beef. Nothing. Hands down the best sandwich on the planet. With dipped & hots please.

        • tobijohn

Ha, posting the same thing as you simultaneously…

        • tobijohn

Everyone here touts the Portillo’s Italian Beef but for my money, the best one I ever had was at Michael’s Beef on the corner of Oak Park Ave and North Ave in Oak Park. Of course, it’s been over a decade since I’ve had one. And checking the Internet reviews, new owners have ruined it so don’t bother…

          • Doc Nitty

Not to sound like an ass, but when I was in Chi last year, I had a dog and an Italian beef sandwich at Portillo’s, and while both were good, I was not able to see what all the fuss was about. I guess I’d have to come down in the side of the cheesesteak. None of that compares with a torta with steak, chorizo and jalapeños. But then, we’re not playing Mexico.

          • Trac

Shoulda gone to Lukes Doc. You shoulda gone to Lukes.

          • DaMurph

            Doc Doc Doc, SMH!

          • BerwynBomber

Yeah, Portillo’s rocks. Feel like I want to hibernate after eating it, but it is damn tasty as grease goes.

          • Irish Sweetness

            Sons of bitches. Goddammit.

          • DaMurph

There are just so many good ones, and some of the neighborhood ones are tough to beat, but lack the notoriety of the big boys

      • tobijohn

GOT to have the peppers and onions. Anyway, a fairer comparison would be an Italian Beef sandwich vs. the Philly Cheesesteak. And of course, it should have the Giardiniera and be dipped…

    • BerwynBomber

We’ve got good grub in Ditka town. But our pizza blows.
For the record I like both our dog and the Philly cheesesteak.

  • IBNO

I would rather the Lions lose today than the Bears win.

    There. I said it.

But all things being equal, I want Jeff’s scenario #3. Losses by the Lions and Peckers, and the Bears whup the Iggles.

  • CanadaBear

If we win the turnover battle we should win. Philly’s D jumps around a lot. If we catch them with the right running plays, Forte will have a few 20+ yd runs. That’s my hope anyway. If we get the running game going they are in for a long day. Not to mention I hope this is the week Devin breaks the record. FUCK YEAH!

  • Cutty Badger don’t give a fuck

Why the fuck is Emery in the media talking about the fucking Franchise Tag. What a bush league move by this first time GM. Way to make this situation even worse Phil. You fucking idiot.

    • tobijohn

Maybe because they asked him? both he and Trestman strike as basically honest guys who are not particularly good at deception…

      • Cutty Badger don’t give a fuck

it just doesn’t make sense at this point. Why say anything. This whole “negotiating in the media” thing is bull. Emery just could have brushed it off. We have to get to the fucking playoffs. That shit can wait in my humble opinion.

        • johnnywad

Good news is it will have zero effect on Cutty. He already knows he’s getting paid. Also knows Emery doesn’t want to tag him. On top of that, I’ve never seen a guy give less of a fuck about outside circumstances and noise than Jay. This will have no impact on his game.

          • MB30SD

            DOOOOOOON’TTTTT CAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRREEEEE!!!

        • tobijohn

Unless I’m missing something, it seemed like a real non-answer to me. I don’t know that he really confirmed or denied anything that isn’t already out there. Any GM could say the same thing about any player and not really tip his hand. His one consistent stance is that there won’t be any negotiations for anybody until after the season is over…

  • Doc Nitty

Big day today, fellas. Big big games.

Anybody notice there was no NFL yesterday? Nor next Saturday. What’s up with that? The NFL has had games on the last two Saturdays of the season every year for years.

    Bear Down

  • Shady

“Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton was arrested and charged with assault and public intoxication in Grapevine, Texas early Sunday morning, according to ESPN.com. Melton was later bonded out of jail just after 9 a.m. CT.

There aren’t many details at this point, but Melton may have been in Grapevine while he continues to recover from ACL surgery. Melton was lost for the season in Week 3 when he tore his ACL against the Steelers. The defensive tackle went to high school in Grapevine and attended college at the University of Texas.

Melton entered the 2013 season as the Bears franchise player. Melton was hit with the franchise-tag in July after he was unable to work out a long-term deal with the Bears.”

I posted the article so you don’t have to click the link.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24384477/report-bears-dt-henry-melton-arrested-for-assault-in-texas

    • tobijohn

Assuming he can fully recover from the injury, hopefully that will make him cheaper to sign..

      • Shady

Not sure I’d want to at this point. Injury concerns, character concerns now… I don’t know…

        • johnnywad

Little premature to call this a character concern

        • Cutty Badger don’t give a fuck

his knees can’t support the new weight he has put on. In college he was a legit 260. Now his knees collapse to the inside when he walks. Not a good long term prognosis. Now he thinks he’s worth top DT money and then gets fucking blacked out and fights a bouncer? Great job Henry. It’s like getting elected CEO of a company even though you should be upper middle management at best then getting fucked up at the christmas party and puking on the japanese contignent in town to work on a huge company merger.

        • BearFanInDE

Yep…but the article doesn’t say much except that he was asked to leave the bar. Then got combative w. the staff…doesn’t sound like a major issue…

Speaking of Texas divas….where is Cedric benson now??

          • BearFanInDE

Or Roy 1st down Williams 🙂

  • Cutty Badger don’t give a fuck

rodgers is a vadge. not because he got hurt but because he seriously acts like a huge fucking vadge douche and gets away with it.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/22/report-rodgers-concerned-about-perceived-toughness/

    • Shady

“It is clear that the report meshes with Rodgers’ reputation for being sensitive — so sensitive that he’s sensitive about being called sensitive. And he’s likely sufficiently sensitive to be sensitive about a report regarding his sensitivity regarding why he’s not playing nearly seven weeks after suffering the injury.”

      hahaha

      Chicken Dinner – 1 Aaron Vadgers – 0

      • Irish Sweetness

        Aaron Vadgers! MWAH!

  • Shady

If you put Josh McCown on CLE, are they a playoff team?

    • BearFanInDE

Do you see them beating the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals w. just a change in QB?

      • Shady

Yes? Go ahead and add a pice or two here and there, sure why not? KC Chiefs did it.

    • BerwynBomber

What type of contract is McCown under? If it is a one-year deal, I would not be shocked if he his gone by start of next training camp. Dude is a good soldier but won’t blame him for not resisting a decent offer. Bears might not match it.

    • Irish Sweetness

If you put Cutty on CLE are they a playoff team? There.

  • Shady

I wonder if Briggs and/or Trestman are waiting to see if today’s games dictate the importance of the game tonight. If DAL and DET find a way to lose and the Cheese win, the game tonight doesn’t mean anything. Why risk it?

    • tobijohn

I think Dallas has to win otherwise the Eagles can win the NFCE by beating the Bears

    • Doc Nitty

Seems like beating Philly would give us a three seed vs a four seed if we do win the division.

      • Shady

3 seed plays SF 4 seed plays CAR, right now. I’d rather the Bears host CAR.

        • Doc Nitty

3 seed gives the best chance to not face Seattle.

          • Shady

Need a healthy Briggs, seeding not as important. Road to destiny goes through Seattle anyway. Bearce.

        • Cormonster

Right NOW 3 seed plays Saints, 4 plays San Fran. After that, next game would be at Carolina. I like that scenario better.

  • Cormonster

Congrats to Ron Rivera on making the playoffs. Good for him.

  • BerwynBomber

So this game is essentially meaningless for Philly right? Win or lose, they still play Dallas next week for their division.

    • Shady

Do you think it means Kelly will go conservative to not show anything to Dallas, or will he open up the playbook and put some gadget plays on tape?

      • tobijohn

        Could go either way

      • BerwynBomber

I was thinking more along the lines of player motivation.

  • Shady

Detroit can’t possibly lose to the Giants at home… Right?

    • BerwynBomber

With Shorts? Ha! No loss is impossible. I wonder what the spread was for that game. G-Men might have been a good bet.

      • johnnywad

        Giants were +10

        • BerwynBomber

          Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!
See, it’s these occasional no-brainers that to gamblers’ anonymous and economic ruin.

          • johnnywad

Fucking Giants give em new life

    • johnnywad

Losing to the Giants defines the Lions. I’d say slightly better than 50/50

  • Shady

Clay Matthews looks injured. Right arm? Huge development.

    • johnnywad

      Labia

    • BerwynBomber

Or his thumb again. Btw, Flynn looks halfway competent on this drive, though it’s dink and dunk stuff. Gotta hand it to the Cheese on the Lacy pick. Could be a short career but the dude’s for real.

    • Shady

      Re-injured his thumb. Ouch.

  • johnnywad

Is anybody else getting emails from Disqus on every single post? I’m getting them whether they are replies to me or not

    • Irish Sweetness

      yep, you gotta spam Disqus

  • MB30SD

cheese steak and ny pizza. hands down.

    • MB30SD

i did like the I-talian beefs though.

    • BerwynBomber

Thumbs up on the NY Pizza. And yeah our Italian Beefs are decent contribution to the national cheap eats menu. Try Johnny’s on North if you ever get a chance.

      • underway

Johnny’s is good. The Ice there is great… Portillos and scatchells on Cermak are also good.

  • MB30SD

I swear to fucking god, if the lions and packers fucking hand us the North on a platter today and we don’t flush them both down the fucking toilet tonight for good, I will literally go insane.

  • MB30SD

hahahahah…. you guys just see that taunting penalty by that raiders db. moron

    • Shady

No what happened? I’ve got GB on CBS and DET on Fox. These are nice appetizers in what will be a feast of football this evening.

      • MB30SD

dude talking smack after riding mathews OOB for no gain, and RIGHT in front of the ref… I mean literally standing 2 feet away from the ref looking right at him, he bats the ball out of mathews hands 3 yards out of bounds as they’re walking back onto the field.

  • johnnywad

Oh my god. Fuck Eli Manning

    • MB30SD

if you’re expecting eli manning to make shit happen for us (nay anybody… including himself) my man, well then… you’re not as smart as I thought you were.

      • johnnywad

I’ll settle for not watching Nick Fairley come from town yards down field and tackle him in the end zone. Too much?

        • MB30SD

          no… just right.

    • Shady

The Giants’ GM would rather have a better draft pick at this point. me thinks.

      • MB30SD

        seens elysium yet?

Good sheit. sharlto coply is one of the main guys again. funny scene at the end where he keeps calling him boykie. I was laughing

        Spoiler alert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd8zNtGNtbk

  • underway

    the pittsburgh/Giant melt down is beginning…. ugh….

    • Shady

Steelers just got jobbed on that blocked FG that turned into a GB TD.

      • RenoBear

That call was the biggest joke. Figures though, it fits with the NFL requirement of the Packers getting in the playoffs and douche Rodgers coming back to lead them… Hate the Fudge

  • MB30SD

my god… being forced to watch the chargers v raiders as the only game I get to watch this weekend is cruel and unusual punishment.

My god, I couldn’t give a smaller fuck about this game if I was a midget.

  • tobijohn

Are they playing baseball or football in Seattle? 6-3 Diamondbacks over the Mariners…

    • Ber

Cardinals hanging tough in the WC race.

      • tobijohn

Arizona must have a hell of a D to accomplish that in Seattle…

  • Shady

    Spaeth!

  • Shady

I do not enjoy rooting for Eli Manning and the Giants.

  • tobijohn

if we could have one game go in our favor but not both, would we prefer the Packers lose tonight and be eliminated and then take our chances with Detroit losing to the Vikings next week?

    • Shady

Bears need a win either way.

      • MB30SD

        ed zachary.

we need to take care of our business maings.

      • tobijohn

True but wouldn’t the Packers be more manageable without any chance of Rogers back?

        • MB30SD

but who says he won’t come back if they have a shot?

          • tobijohn

If they lose today, they won’t have a shot hence no need for him to come back…

          • MB30SD

            uh, right. uh… riiiiight. (duh)

          • tobijohn

Well actually, they won’t have a shot if the Bears win tonight…

  • MB30SD

    oh hello pit db.

or should I say, oohhhhhh heeeerrrooooooo

  • BerwynBomber

More evidence that Shea McClellin offered the single biggest play in NFC Northdom this year.

  • Shady

    ahahahaha Lions. smh

    • MB30SD

      ??

  • MB30SD

damn it… I want the fucking lions to lose too. common maaaan!

    • tobijohn

I was hoping the Giants would show up with a little pride

  • God. Bless. Pick-6. Stafford.

  • underway

    pick 6 NY…

  • MB30SD

    awesome! Thanks chubby lesbo!

    • Shady

Still think Eli is worse right now.

      • MB30SD

dude, my dead uncle milt is better than fucking eli

(note, no uncle milts were harmed in this post. Uncle milt is a trademarked and fictional character)

        • Shady

Stafford is getting booed at home with the game on the line.

          • MB30SD

            eeeeeeeeexcellent

        • i bet his fictional funeral was nice. pretty flowers, a cool breeze from the west, and beautiful women trying to sniff back the tears that fell.

          • MB30SD

thanks ev. I’d like to picture it that way. Poor old uncle milt

          • he was a pillar of the community.

          • MB30SD

indeed he was… the gay porn community, but hey… it was a community nonetheless.

  • tobijohn

Steelers are going to let GB back in the game..

  • MB30SD

holy cow the raidahs are just…. turrible

  • Shady

One time Eli, one time… smh

Doc and MB I found a nice song for you:

    • MB30SD

      nice! Liked it.

      Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YLy4j8EZIk

So i’m in line at the wallsmart the other day getting my kids some xmas sheite… yes, I get them both cause they’re halfies.

and I look over to the candy display. Whats do i sees? Two bagga chips nexts tos each others. One bag a hot cheetos, one a takkis. (probably put that way on purpose). Anyway, what do I dos?

I immediately take a pic and text it to yonny.

  • underway

Gym Shorts is getting fired after this season…. Worst thing that could happen for us…

    • BerwynBomber

I would agree … IF it happens. I don’t know why they didn’t fire him after last year so I wouldn’t be surprised if he again returns. Remember, they took years to oust Matt Millen out of the front office. That’s a franchise diseased with a loser’s culture.

      • underway

If he does stay, I am o.k. with that. He breeds undisciplined losers and I like that culture in Detroit… Kinda fits the town….

  • MB30SD

wow, should have seen the TD the raiders just dropped in the endzone. can’t explain it, just check it out on the highlights tape.

  • MB30SD

ok, gints have 1 minute to get into FG range and ice this thing.

How much money says eli throws a pick-6 on the lions 25

    • Shady

      Close.

      • MB30SD

they’re past the 50. he has 25 yards to get it done

        • Shady

There’s the pick on the 25… No return.

          • MB30SD

hahahahahaha… hioly fucking shit. I was fucking kidding eli you absolute piece of sheite!

  • RenoBear

    OMG ELI SUCKS

    • MB30SD

      I believe that’s a;ready been duley established

  • BerwynBomber

Who’s the GM of the Kittens? Shorts’s wife? My god, you have :23 left and you don’t take a crack at getting in FG range?

  • MB30SD

wtf would eli throw that deep ball… why!?!?! I don’t get that shit man. wtf?!?!?!

    • Shady

He was open just missed him by 5 feet.

      • MB30SD

like I said… why in thee fuck would he try that knowing how badly he sucks

  • Cormonster

Detroit in OT, Packers tied. Some exciting football.

  • Shady

    Michael Cox!

    • MB30SD

      ??

      • Shady

        smh

        • MB30SD

I got it on nfl.com gametime or whatever.

          nice play by play jackass

  • MB30SD

giants almost in fg range already.

    • Shady

      Fumble under review. Looks down.

      • MB30SD

        jesus.

does a fg end it? no right?

        • Shady

Elbow looks down to me. The Giants are in FG position but they need a TD for a sudden death TD. If Lions recover they can win with a FG.

          • Shady

            Call stands. Fuck.

          • MB30SD

            sigh

          • Shady

            Lions punting.

          • MB30SD

            yes!

  • underway

Never Fear, Stafford on the field is our best hope at the Giants winning this game….

  • MB30SD

    common m.cox!

  • Shady

I swear the Giants run two plays. The draw and the interception.

    • Shady

Huge 1st down on 3rd down. Silly Lion secondary.

      • Shady

And now a FOURTH down conversion. bwahaha

  • tobijohn

What happens if both these games end in ties? Unlikely but it gives me something to think about

  • MB30SD

    KIESSLE!!!!

  • underway

4th and 7…… Completion Eli…..YESSIR… send them bum ass lions home!!!!

  • Shady

The Steelers and Gmen are doing their best to let these wins slip with their playcalling. Bears should have opportunity to win the division tonight.

  • underway

    Lions Out!

    • tobijohn

If the Bears win tonight then they’re out…

      • BerwynBomber

        No, they’re out regardless.

        • tobijohn

If the Bears lose the next two and Detroit beats Minny, then they’re both at 8-8 with the Lions owning the tie-breaker, right?

          • underway

no worries, fudge just lost. Bears win tonight and we win the division…

          • BerwynBomber

If the Bear lose the next two, the Cheese wins the division. The Kittens are officially out.

          • tobijohn

Unless I’m missing something, if GB loses next week (7-8-1) and the Bears lose their next two (8-8) and the Lions win their last one (8-8) then Detroit wins the NFCN, right?

          • BerwynBomber

But how can both the Bears and Packers lose next week?

          • tobijohn

Um, I was talking about a parallel universe where the laws of mathematics allowed both teams to lose even if one actually won…

          • underway

If GB loses next week. WE WIN because we are playing the fudge. We win the division.

          • tobijohn
          • underway

tobi, I know it hurts. but the lions are out… WIth us and the fudge losing starting QB’s it is hard to believe that they could not take the division…. but they are out…

          • BerwynBomber

Or to put it another way: either the Bears or the Cheese is assured of finishing the ahead of the Kittens. Closest the Kittens could come is if Bears and Cheese tie next week. But Cheese would still beat out the Kittens.

          • tobijohn

It took a while but I think I finally get it…

          • underway

FUdge would win the division. they would end 8-7 and 1. They would beat the lions by 1/2 game in the loss column..

      • underway

ions are out no matter what. Its between us and the Fudge now. If the fudge lose tonight then all we have to do is win 1 game…

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    bahahahaha MEOWS

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Steelers are going to win too.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    And the Vikes got cremated.

  • Shady

The Eagles have nothing to play for, the Bears have everything to play for.

    • tobijohn

Just about to post the same thing

  • Shady

Dom Capers may be getting fired as well.

  • BerwynBomber

Good lord, the Kittens and Cheese are piss-poor teams. I’ll semi-excuse the Cheese for losing their franchise QB midway through but I don’t know how Detroit justifies bringing back Shorts. Thing is, don’t put them past it doing it.

  • Big Mike

    Unbelievable

    • Shady

      Mike-a hide, it’s not over.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    C’mon, Steelers! where’s that D

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    That’s a 10 second run off

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    heeeere we goo

    • Shady

      Wow.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I was very surprised the Steelers didn’t take a knee on O at the goaline when the Pack had no TOs.

  • Maddbearfan

Ok…the door to the NFC north is WIDE open…GO BEARS!!!!!!!

  • Viva

Tell me God is not a Bears fan.

    • Viva

      this year.

      • Shady

        lol Viva

  • Shady

I have literally been waiting all day for Sunday Night.

  • Shady

I have a feeling Marshall is going to have a big night.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Eagles need to sit Shady McCoy. Got to rest him for next week. Also, I need an FF miracle in Artoo’s league, so if Shady sits and Forte runs for about 200, I should be set.

    • Shady

From your keyboard to Chip Kelly’s headset.

  • Viva

If we win tonight we lock up the 3 seed (we would have tie breaker over the Cowboys or Eagles)!!!!

Bring on the Saints in December BABY!!!!

    • Hank

Couldn’t have imagined that 2 weeks ago. Go Bears.

      • Viva

        GET SOME!!!

  • BerwynBomber

So IF — and that’s one mammoth caveat of an “IF” — the Kittens FO has a lick of brains between them you shitcan Shorts tomorrow and interim it with an assistant for W17.

    • tobijohn

Hmm, How would we feel about Lovie taking over in Detroit next year?

      • BerwynBomber

Would scare me crapless. Lovie working with those D parts up there? Plus, his no Offense flaw might actually work to the Kitten’s advantage. That’s a team in desperate need to try to establish an inside running attack. They get first and goal at the two and they go in no back/shotgun mode.

      • BerwynBomber

Lovie would be a good hire in Dallas too. That’s another team that could use to play more conservatively. I was fine with us getting rid of him, but the man seems a good, competent NFL HC, even if a flawed one. Why teams like Buff or Cleve didn’t give him a look last off-season I’ll never know.

  • Viva

which is why I don’t think Eagles will lay down tonight. Who would you rather play at home in December? The 49ers or the Saints? I vote Saints?

  • Trac

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. He he. I might just play that Orange Ceasar/Doris Day clip for MB again, yee hee!

Gym shorts is crapping his shorts about right now, isn’t Christmas just swell fella’s? It sure is cold outside, isn’t it shwartzy?

  • Shady

    LOLions.

    • BerwynBomber

Yeah, that was epic, wasn’t it? Were they 7-3 at one point?

      • AlbertInTucson

        6-3.

    • Viva

Gym Shorts will be selling ShamWows by this time next week!

      • johnnywad

I’m starting a “Support Schwartz!” internet petition

  • tobijohn

Hmm, what to watch tonight, Bears-Eagles or the Sound of Music on ABC?

    • johnnywad

      Picture in Picture?

      • tobijohn

Maybe but there’s some subtleties and shading in the SoM that unless you’re really paying attention, you’ll miss completely…

  • Shady

62 degrees in Philly on December 22nd?

  • Shady

Lance Briggs is active (as if you didn’t know).

  • AlbertInTucson

I dispute the concept that the Eagles have “little motivation”. They have a shot to grab the #3 seed by winning out.

  • Doc Nitty

Lets do this boys. Bear Down

  • Shady

Zach Zaidman posting creep shots on his Twitter account.

  • Shady

I think the profile pic of Jay NBC uses is a couple years old.

  • Shady

I think somebody missed a blocking assignment.

  • Shady

    F’ing Podlesh.

    • tobijohn

      he’s got to go

  • underway

    PODLESH DISGUSTS ME…..

  • Ufficio

I guess the Eagles are motivated after all.

  • Shady

    Not… a good start.

    • Ufficio

      Not a playoff defense.

      But we already knew this.

  • Trac

    Well, that sucked.

  • Shady

    F’ing Hester.

  • Ufficio

Bears don’t want to be in the playoffs?

Prefer to be embarrassed on a smaller stage?

  • johnnywad

God dammit. Fuck him. I’m done with Hester. He’s replaceable. So fucking replace him

  • tobijohn

    For fuck’s sake

    • Shady

Shea is completely worthless right now.

  • Trac

Devin Friggin Hester. You sir are a joke.

  • Trac

I guess the Bears want to wait until next week.

    • underway

what would the season be without a meaningful game against the Packers… We know how that usually goes…

  • underway

    Worst possible start imaginable….

    • Trac

The perfect storm I predicted the wrong way.

  • Ufficio

This team got destroyed by Minnesota last week.

    Fucking lame.

  • tobijohn

No, I think the Bears strategy is to wear out the Eagle’s O and then stomp em…

  • Irish Sweetness

Tune in. Game starts. Game over?

    • Trac

Tell me about it. Couldn’t be going worse.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

What’s a Bear game without miraculous comebacks?

  • Ufficio

Rick Nielsen was on the radio before the game. Predicted a Bears shutout.

    • tobijohn

      Cheap Trick Rick Nielsen?

      • Ufficio

        Cheap Trick, yeah.

    • IBNO

Shows you why he’s a musician and not a football analyst.

  • Maddbearfan

Wow..a missed block..a pooched punt and a fumble and like that we’re down 14 points……

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Our special teams just spotted them 14 points

    • tobijohn

I know he’s the holder but there’s got to be someone out there for 2014 better than Podlesh

    • Ufficio

Our “defense” might have had something to do with it as well.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

When the Eagles start both drives effectively already in FG range, that’s a lot of stress esp on our D. Last year we may have limited them to a FG, not this year.

        • Ufficio

Our defense blows. Wouldn’t matter where they started.

  • Shady

Good job Weems, not letting Hester catch it.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    Weems “I got this, Hester.”

  • AlbertInTucson

    Yup. Eagles sure look unmotivated.

  • Shady

Welp. The only thing I can say right now it that’s it’s still early. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

  • johnnywad

This ain’t over. Far from it. Touchdown here goes a long way to stemming the tide

  • underway

    another 3/out… fuck fuck fuck…

  • Trac

I’m at a loss right now. I really can’t say anything remotely inspiring at this point.

  • Maddbearfan

Let’s hope that’s the last of the run’s up the middle..never worked well for us.

  • Ufficio

    Tackle, assholes.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Not gonna lie. When Conte went down, I was a little relieved.

    • IBNO

Me too. I don’t think Steltz can really do worse.

  • Shady

This is about to get ugly.

  • underway

Defense cant keep up at this pace. they will be spent by the end of the quarter….

  • Trac

I’m gonna watch lone ranger with my son. See you after halftime boys.

  • underway

someone needs to shadow mccoy….. thats all u do…

  • Shady

The Bears are releasing their bowels all over the bed.

  • underway

This is why we dont get respect on a national level. When in the spotlight we get abused. We need a big drive from the O. Shootout please…

    • AlbertInTucson

Did you just start watching tonight?

      Please pay attention.

The Bears have won every National night game they have played this season prior to tonight.

  • Maddbearfan

This is truly fucking pathetic…not even the first quarter and we’re getting our fuck asses kicked!!!!

  • Hank

Just please don’t run forte up the middle on 1st down

  • tobijohn

Well at least I won’t be staying up late tonight and dragging my ass at work tomorrow..

  • Irish Sweetness

Alshon. Wow. The hands on that dude. I

  • Shady

Bears are getting beat up front in the run game.

    • DaMurph

Gettting beat in every phase of the game, decisively.

  • DaMurph

If Mel Tucker has a job next year I will be shocked.

  • Ufficio

Sucks to wait all day in gleeful anticipation of a game and be totally let down after 15 minutes.

  • underway

When did our Special Teams get so bad? That along with the D was our strong point….

  • Hank

    Forcing to marshall

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    Into Marshall double-coverage

    • Shady

He was open, a good throw gets a 1st down.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

So bad vision AND accuracy? lol

  • Maddbearfan

Wait a minute..now I get it..the Bears want to win the title at home next week..that’s the ticket!!!!

  • IBNO

Major Wright should not be employed by the Bears. Period.

  • Maddbearfan

    Cutler keeps going to Marshall…

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Our D looks out of funk – more than usual

  • DaMurph

Lack of a pass rush is just killing us.

  • IBNO

One more Eagles score, and I really think Trestman should pull the starters.

  • Ufficio

    Tackle, assholes.

  • DaMurph

    why cant we fucking tackle!!!

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Eagles taking mercy. Not going for it on 4rth

  • underway

    Hey the eagles punter!!!

  • DaMurph

Half of this shit is on Tucker, he needs to go.

    • IBNO

Did Tucker fuck up Melton’s knee? Collins’ knee? Briggs’s shoulder? Tillman’s tricep? Did Tucker turn Conte and Wright into morons who forgot how to play the positions they knew how to play last year?

      • DaMurph

yeah the safety play is on him, his lack of making adjustments. The teams poor tackling. All that shit is on him, yep all on him.

  • underway

Hester fair catches before the damn ball is kicked…

  • Hank

I think you guys are hating on the defense a bit too much. Not good but offense and SP hasn’t exactly done any good.

  • DaMurph

If you cant play better in a game that has such huge ramifications, you seriously dont belong in the playoffs anyway.

  • Shady

    Kyle Long, c’mon man.

  • DaMurph

    oh man

  • Ufficio

Eh, we knew the D wouldn’t hold up. The O getting one first down in the first four drives is really inexplicable.

  • Ufficio

    That is fucking interference. Assholes.

    • IBNO

      I HATE the phrase, “That’s a good no-call.”

That’s saying, “It looks illegal, but the refs did the right thing by ignoring it.”

  • Hank

I hate the check down to the WR coming backwards past scrimmage.

  • IBNO

Looks like Cutty/Trestman figured out that the TE is gonna be wide open.

  • underway

Scratch Podlesh shitty punt short field TD and Hesters Fumble TD and we are right in this….

    • AlbertInTucson

And if wishes and buts were candy and nuts what a wonderful Christmas we’d have.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Is it me, or does Cutler look a hit away from being out again?

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    Another Garza special.

    • Ufficio

      Put him out to pasture.

      • IBNO

The last piece to making the offense truly great will be replacing Garza. Mucho respect for the years in uniform, Roberto, but new blood is needed. A new center in 2014!

        • Ufficio

          And a short-yardage back.

  • Shady

    3rd and 28. Nice.

    • Hank

The punt got just past the 1st down mark.

      • Ufficio

Typical for a Podlesh punt, but this time it’s actually a good thing.

  • Ufficio

No, Collinsworth. A shirt-pull is inteference, you worthless sack of douche.

    • IBNO

Yeah, I really hate Collinsworth. It’s like he resents not playing in this day and age, and therefore thinks receivers should be mugged before a flag is thrown.

  • Shady

Kyle Long is getting exposed right now. I don’t know if Chip Kelly had anything to do with it, but Long has been totally lost on several protections. I think Trestman gave up on the run for some reason that drive.

    • IBNO

What would Chip Kelly have to do with defensive calls?

      • Shady

If he knows Long from college, he probably knows what he struggled with. I’m sure as a head coach he could influence the way his defense attacks Long and the O-line.

        • IBNO

Long has started more games in the NFL than he did at Oregon. I highly doubt there’s much left of his Oregon technique left in him.

          • IBNO

Plus. Long was a Tackle at Oregon, wasn’t he? Different techniques and responsibilities than OG.

          • Shady

It’s not his technique, he’s not getting beat physically he’s just completely missing assignments.

          • IBNO

OK, so again, why would Kelly “know” something, then? Blowing assignments isn’t due to some secret knowledge an old coach might have.

        • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Long began the season struggling with stunts and exotic blitzes, but Cutler would make teams pay. However, post-torn groin Cutler looks off.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    Briggs is getting owned today.

    • IBNO

Yeah, he’s out of position, overrunning plays.

  • tobijohn

Refs aren’t calling any holding or interference on the Eagles

    • IBNO

Reminds me of last week’s game, when the refs were calling shit on the Bears that they weren’t calling when it was done TO the Bears.

    • underway

Refs aint got nothing to do with this good ole fashion ass whoopin we takin…

      • IBNO

When there were at least 2 PI calls the refs have missed, including one in the end zone, yeah, there’s a little culpability.

Decent refs make this a 21-10 game in my book.

  • IBNO

Honestly, going into halftime down 21-0 would actually be something of a moral victory at this point.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

This game is where we’re really missing Peanut. Dude sniffs out screens and sheds blocks better than any other CB in the league.

    • IBNO

Yeah. Plus, turnovers. On all these crap-ass tackling plays, Peanut would be punching the crap out of the ball.

  • Shady

Any good reason Bears called a TO there? One TO left for what is a now-or-never drive.

    • Ufficio

Probably the same reason we tried a 47-yard field goal on 2nd down.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Trestman has Cutler on his FF team?

    • Hank

Maybe planning to use the lovie kneeldown

      • IBNO

Lovie would call a timeout AFTER letting 25 seconds roll off the clock.

  • Viva

Note to Bears: this is not a bye week.

    • IBNO

Maybe they’re all drunk after watching the Lions get eliminated from the playoffs.

  • BearFanInDE

    Wow! This is ugly!

    • tobijohn

      Aren’t you at the game?

      • BearFanInDE

He’ll no! Have you met any iggles fans?

        • tobijohn

          Someone here was going

          • BearFanInDE

            I’m sorry to hear that…

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

That was smart. Calling a TO on a big play. Usually teams take long to run down field and wast time. Just saved like 15 seconds.

  • IBNO

Bennett actually did a good thing dropping that ball. Catching it would probably mean one play left.

  • IBNO

Philly was offsides on that spike. Thanks, refs.

    • Ufficio

We got a gift on the spot.

      • IBNO

Yeah, so one shitty job by the refs deserves another, eh?

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    well. something.

    • tobijohn

Not enough for me. I’ve got to get up at 6am EST so I’m off to bed. Hope it’s a Cardinals redux. Went to bed early that game too

      • BearFanInDE

Tobi – the iggles are who we thought they were…

  • Shady

    We’re BACK IN IT BOYS!

  • underway

    good as gould…

  • IBNO

Hooray, Robbie! Now it’s only a 21 point deficit! No first half shutout! The Bears didn’t COMPLETELY shit their pants!

  • BearFanInDE

So we’re good even if we win next week, right? Irrespective of how the other games stack up…

    • underway

Yes. But know the Discount Double Douche will be back next week I am sure…

      • BearFanInDE

        Underway – Seriously??!
On the other hand, if these guys play like this, Flynn is more than enough

        • underway

I dont think he would miss a chance to play the us for the division…

    • IBNO

Yep. This week is pretty much worthless for both teams.

      • BearFanInDE

        Ok…eff this game then

      • BearFanInDE

Ibno – I just wish they didn’t embarrass themselves on national TV like this…

        • IBNO

Maybe it’s an elaborate mind game by Trest? Pretend to suck, lull future opponents into false confidence?

          • BearFanInDE

            Trest looked mildly unhappy there

  • IBNO

Damn, the field at Lambeau today looked like a pile of shit dusted with powdered sugar.

  • IBNO

You know why that Tundra pickup is “assembled in Texas?” Because most of the parts are made in Mexico.

  • Maddbearfan

I think they are playing low to win it at home…right..RIGHT?????

  • BearFanInDE

So how many of you are calling it a night if the iggles score on 1st possession in 2nd half?

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

For whatever reason, the Bears are starting off slower with Cutler at the helm the last two games.

    So, my solution?

Put McCown in to start first 3 quarters. Pull him out once we get near goalines.

If we’re behind in the 4rth, insert Cutler, if not, just rinse, wash repeat.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Our Defense needs a turnover. Remember those?

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

      There it is!

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

        never mind.

    • IBNO

      Ask, and ye shall receive!

  • Shady

Keys to the game: The Eagles are blocking and tackling. The Bears aren’t blocking and tackling.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I hope we injure McCoy to make the Iggles pay.

  • Shady

Frey just made a HUGE play.

    • IBNO

      Not Conte. Never Conte.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

      Frey.

      • Shady

That’s why there’s an edit button.

  • IBNO

    Frey did his Peanut impression.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Kelly just pulled a Schwarts. Let’s hope the trend continues.

  • Shady

C’mon Cutty. Take advantage of this one.

  • IBNO

Another Collinsworth wishwash. “It looks like it should be overturned, but I would leave it.”

  • Irish Sweetness

For starters, the knee NEVER hit the ground ..

  • Shady

    FUCKING HORSESHETIE

  • underway

    fuck this game.

  • Irish Sweetness

    That’s a pissy overturn.

  • Ufficio

didn’t see the evidence to overturn.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    C’mon, Hester.

    • Shady

Fucking done man. Who would pay him to return kicks?

      • johnnywad

        Jeff

  • Ufficio

    Nothing going our way tonight.

  • Hank

Jas has 2 quarters to earn some lost love. A full game of piss may run him out of town after the season.

  • underway

run up the middle… go figure

  • Ufficio

    Fuck Trestman.

  • IBNO

Yep, that’s a safety. Again, the refs screwed up.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Forte has to be the only 6’0 220 HB who goes down with diving arm tackles.

    • Hank

Not true. Forte and Curtis Enis.

    • IBNO

Didn’t look like he was expecting to get hit 3 yards deep in the backfield.

      • BearFanInDE

Forte gave up 2 sacks tonight

  • Hank

Why run forte up the middle? That play has gained a grand sum of 1 yard all year.

  • Shady

Dude just split Mills and Long on that play.

  • Ufficio

Maybe we can give Riley Cooper a career-ending decapitation. That would make this whole exercise worth it.

  • DaMurph

    Sad Sad Sad

  • underway

    nobody can shed a block..

  • RenoBear

Oh my god let the verbal fellatio on Foles continue…fuck this

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    that’s embarrassing.

  • Maddbearfan

And we didn’t think it couldn’t get any worse….

  • RenoBear

goofy lookin son of a bitch

  • Ufficio

    Tackle, fuckheads.

  • underway

fuck yo couch…. this shit is embarrassing….

  • Shady

    Peppers? Really? smh

    • DaMurph

Whole lot of big money guys not earning their pay.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

That play is the equivalent of Lach trying to chase down Wilson last year. Stick a fork in him.

  • Shady

Well at least this game was moved back, so it didn’t ruin my WHOLE day.

    • DaMurph

Yeah but I would have slept better because it wouldnt sting so bad so many hours later. Now its going to ruin my sleep.

      • Shady

        Drugs.

  • Hank

So, we need to beat Aaron Rodgers to get into playoffs. How fitting.

  • IBNO

    Seriously. Pull the starters.

    • DaMurph

Why? They apparently NEED the practice.

    • underway

Let them suffer through this embarrassment…

  • AlbertInTucson

All that’s left for the Bears tonight is a major injury or two.

    • IBNO

      Major WRIGHT injury, sure.

  • Shady

“Put in dat mcnown guyyyy” Doug and OB should be interesting tonight.

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

No way. Cutler still looks ‘rusty’. Let him get some rhythm back before next week.

  • BearFanInDE

At least the pack and kitties put up a fight today..

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

That sack was on Cutler, but he was trying to get a first down as opposed to just getting a two yd checkdown like McCown.

  • Maddbearfan

Trestman is setting up Greenbay….make them feel confident..so next week WE CRUSH GREENBAY AT SOLDIERS FIELD!!!! The MAD COACH!!!!!!

    • DaMurph

      Stop drinking, NOW!

      • Maddbearfan

Haven’t had a beer yet this year…or in the last yr and a half…but after this game one sure would have been good…then another..and another

  • johnnywad

Worst game since Cedric Benson came back to Soldier Field as a Bengal and made the Bears lick his asshole. I may not make it to the end of this shit show.

  • Scharfinator

The good news is that if Cutler shits the bed next week too, we know we dont resign him.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

oh oh…is old Cutler going to make an appearance?

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    3 and out AGAIN.

  • Shady

Pants truly are on the ground.

  • Hank

Could we try a hurry up?

    • Ufficio

      Not until we’re down 40.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

    THROW THE BALL CUTLER

    • Hank

      Reminds me of Rex.

  • Ufficio

    Fuck everything.

  • Hank

    Get Jay some insulin. Damnit.

    • IBNO

You know what insulin does, right?

You mean “get Jay a candy bar.”

  • Ufficio

    Unicorn showing his hooves.

  • Ufficio

    Onside kick?

  • Shady

Well it’s about time. Too bad it’s garbage time.

  • Hank

    Briggs looking rusty.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Put in Ford, put in Wilson.

Take out anyone over 30 except Jay cuz he needs the reps.

  • Hank

40-11. On the bright side we got “4th quarter Cutler”.

    • Shady

      hahaha f%$ you

  • RenoBear

wow….that was the saddest display of defense this year…The Bears knew exactly what was coming, and the Eagles still shoved their dick right down their
    throats…WTF

  • AlbertInTucson

I hope it’s the Clayton Moore / Jay Silverheels version.

  • underway

what kind of money is hester stealing this year?

    • Shady

      You mean stealing?

      • underway

        corrected

      • AlbertInTucson

Please don’t encourage bobble head dolls.

        • Shady

          Wat?

          • AlbertInTucson

Check out some of his previous work tonight including

“This is why we dont get respect on a national level. When in the spotlight we get abused.”

Apparently he wasn’t watching when the Bears beat The Giants on a Thursday, Pittsburgh on a Sunday night, Green Bay and Dallas on Monday nights,

  • Shady

Sure. Throw in a pic-6 cherry on top.

  • BerwynBomber

    I’ll still take Luckman.

    • Shady

Jay Cutler. Breaks Sid Luckman’s record for all time yardage by one yard. Throws pick 6.

  • Shady

THIS GAME WAS A COMPLETE FAILURE FROM TRESTMAN ON DOWN.

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Why put McCown in now? It’s not as if Jay has been lighting it up tonight. He needs to play through these games and not throw INTs.

    • Shady

      Benched.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Just wait till McCown marches them down the field with ease.

      • Ufficio

        Bullshit.

  • underway

Here comes Josh… He has got to be fuckin dying inside…..

  • underway

we are getting waxed and Jay is fuckin smilin on the sidelines….. WTF

  • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

Well, it’s not as if America lost much drama. We replaced the Pats-Ravens tonight which was equally lopsided.

    • BerwynBomber

Sorta surprised they didn’t flex Carolina/NO.

      • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

No way Fox was gonna give that up.

        • BerwynBomber

But I was under the impression that Fox and CBS can’t control what NBC wants after a certain point in the season. Despite tonight’s debacle, I like the Sunday night flex.

          • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I don’t think they can actually. But who knows? I’m sure CBS/FOX has some sort of veto power. I think I heard that Philly/Chi are bigger markets, but don’t know.

          • AlbertInTucson

Showing the Bears when they are still relevant is a blue chip stock in TV rating terms and Philadelphia and Chicago are two Top 10 Televsion markets. Network programming-wise, it’s a no-brainer.

          • BerwynBomber

Yep, good point about the respective markets.

          • AlbertInTucson

No, FOX and CBS DO have some say in the matter. NBC cannot just cherry-pick any game it wants to. That said, the NFL knows the flex is pure gold.

  • gpldan

I’m not sure in all my years of Bears fandom I’ve seen a bed shitting like this

    • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

They gave up. Hate when teams give up. That’s the first time in a long time I can remember the Bears giving up. Que the “Lovie teams would never quit”

      • gpldan

You know, you are right. I guess if you don’t have a head coach with any fire in his belly, you get a team that quits on games. We quit.

        • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

This is why we need Rex Ryan – fire and ice.

No one on the sideline should be smiling.

          • AlbertInTucson

Rex Ryan is a just like his old man. A great defensive coordinator is is in over his head as a head coach. The NFL version of “The Peter Principle”.

          • 4ever85 (AKA Butch Deadlift)

I agree. That’s why we need Ryan as DC once he gets fired.

  • underway

    not even worth typing anymore…

  • Shady

Stephen Paella. Sounds fucking delicious Collinsworth.

  • Ufficio

Can’t remember the last time I turned off a Bears game early. Good night.

  • MB30SD

collinsworth is a fucking scourge. what a dick.

    Jesus, that was just Embarrassing

Think Rodgers is coming back? If he doesn’t we might have a chance.

Foles looks like the real deal

    • BerwynBomber

First time I’ve caught Foles for an extend time. Seems to protect the ball at all costs. Gotta imagine the Chip Kelly offense requires a young QB to get smart quick.

  • Cormonster

The Bears played together tonight. Every single player sucked.

  • Shady

Where was the SENSE OF URGENCY? Where was the HEART? The FIGHT? The PASSION? It’s GONE.

  • Shady

Doug and OB are classic right now.

  • MB30SD

it was one of those games that just started so badly, everything snowballed from there. Thanks hester you cunt.

Damn man. nothing went our way tonight. These games are inevitable and are fine, they happen to everyone, shit… it happened to the eagles last friggin week against the vikings

But not this fucking game. Not this fucking night. Just smmfh man. We had the NFCN and playoff table set for us today, the silver platter was produced and presented to us with all the accoutrement… and we gentle took it, pulled down our pants and took a big steaming shit RIGHT in the middle of it. God damn it.

  • MB30SD

damn it. Should never have bailed on the packers game. Kinda kicking myself right now. Damn.

  • AlbertInTucson

Well, they DID hold Shady McCoy under 150 yards rushing.

  • AlbertInTucson

“This isn’t a team ready to win big games on road.”

If you don’t count wins AT Green Bay and AT Pittsburgh on the national stage as “big”.

  • Shady

Another banner week for the NFC North Division.

    • AlbertInTucson

Remember earlier this season when the NFC North looked like one of the toughest divisions in the NFL?

  • AlbertInTucson

Question: What’s the difference between the “REAL” NFL Officials and the “Replacement” NFL Officials?

Answer: The Real ones make the the same bad calls but they just make them a little faster.

Bet you thought I was going to say the answer was “Nothing”.

  • AlbertInTucson

“Sunday is the kind of day that makes me love the sport. Bears v Pack for title. Eagles v Cowboys for title.’

    I second that emotion.

It’s Trite, but True: If the Bears can’t beat the Packers in Soldier Field next Sunday then they have no business in the post season.

Even if they don’t win it, I’d rather be relevant in week 17 than just playing out the string and conteplating their draft position in in early November.

    • BerwynBomber

Agreed. And I think we have a decent shot of winning even if Rodgers comes back. I gotta imagine he will be rusty, plus didn’t they lose both Lacy and Matthews today? A loss like this should really clear our head.

  • AlbertInTucson

    The Bears should take note:

The Eagles got embarassed by the VIKINGS last week and came out with fire in their eyes the following week.

  • Shady

Injured Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton was arrested on charges of public intoxication and assault following an incident at a bar on Saturday night/early Sunday morning in Texas, and he was all bloody in his mug shot.

The allegations Melton is facing are actually pretty humorous. Grapevine police Sgt. Robert Eberling says Melton was arrested after becoming belligerent at Chill Sports Bar when he was asked to leave. Eberling says Melton punched the bar manager in the face and bit his arm.

Four bar staffers were needed to restrain the 27-year-old lineman, who has been on IR since tearing his ACL in Week 3.

    http://larrybrownsports.com/football/henry-melton-bit-restaurant-manager-arrest-mug-shot/214556

Took 4 guys to restrain him? Not bad.

    • AlbertInTucson

      Sigh.

      You can add

“Drink Alcohol anywhere but in the privacy of your own home” .

to the list of things athletes should never do.

Let’s make that FIRST on the list.

      Right above

      “Do not tweet.

      About anything.

      Ever.

      Never.

Don’t even have a twitter account.”

  • DSupreme

So I drove up from DC and actually wasted 2 hrs of my life ( I left at the start of the 4th) and had to experience that display of dog shit from the Bears. I sat right behind their bench in the 2nd row and spent more time yelling at Mel Tucker, Trestman, and our piece of shit twin safety’s then qctually paying attention to the game. I attending two games this season, the Cutty groin loss at FedEx and that shit storm last night…. FML!! They better beat the fucking Pack on Sunday, even though my confidence in this squad is minimal at best.
